Container Car Shipping
Shipping a car inside a container means it travels in a closed box where nothing touches it. It is the option we recommend for luxury, classic and non-running cars, and for anyone who wants the highest level of protection.
How is it secured inside the container?
- Four lashing straps from the designated chassis points , not from the suspension.
- Wooden chocks under the tyres to prevent sliding.
- Protective blankets on the bumpers and protruding edges.
- Partitions separating the vehicle from any accompanying goods.
- Photographs of the loaded container before it is closed.
Container sizes
- 20-foot: one car.
- 40-foot: two cars, or one car with spare parts and belongings in a lawful, documented arrangement.
The spare space in a forty-foot container is a smart investment: lawful goods alongside lower the landed cost per unit.
When is a container cheaper than RoRo?
- When shipping two cars together.
- When the arrival port charges more for RoRo shipments.
- When goods or spare parts travel with the car.
We work out both options in figures before you decide — and the difference is sometimes the opposite of what is expected.
Sharing a container
If you have one car and want a container’s protection at a lower price, we place it in a shared container with another vehicle bound for the same port, in return for a slightly longer wait until it is full.
