This page explains how the price is worked out, not how much it is — so you can compare any quote you receive while understanding what you are paying for.

Rule one: sea freight by volume

The unit is the cubic metre: length × width × height in metres. This means a large, light mattress may cost more than a heavy box of books.

Which is why we always advise: sort before you ship. Every cubic metre is charged.

Rule two: air freight by chargeable weight

This is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is worked out from the parcel’s dimensions after packing, divided by a fixed divisor.

So excess packaging raises your bill directly — use a box the size of its contents, not larger.

Rule three: cars by the unit

Not by weight or volume, but by vehicle class and shipping method: a saloon costs less than a 4×4, and RoRo costs less than a container for a single unit.

What is added to the base price?

Inland transport from your location to the port — it depends on the distance and how regular our trips are in your city.
Special packing — wooden crates, or protection for glass and appliances.
Storage if the shipment has to wait.
Insurance if you choose it.
Delivery to the address instead of collection from the port.

And what is not part of our price?

Customs charges in the destination country — paid there to the customs authority, and varying with the type and value of the goods. We estimate them for you in advance in the quote so you know the full cost, but they are not paid to us.

How do you know a quote is honest?

An honest quote lists the items separately: freight, inland transport, packing and expected charges. A quote that gives you a single figure with no breakdown is the one that surprises you later.
