Who ships from Dammam to the UAE, and what do they send?
Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province and the centre of its oil and petrochemical industry, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the two nearest business capitals to it outside the Kingdom. People and goods therefore move between the two every day: an employee transferred to his company’s branch in Abu Dhabi, a factory in the Second Industrial City supplying a customer in Jebel Ali, a family with half its relatives in Sharjah. The table sums up what we suggest in each case.
| Shipper | What they usually send | What we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| An employee or engineer whose job has moved to the Emirates | Household furniture, appliances and books | A dedicated truck with dismantling, packing and assembly |
| A single resident or a student | One room, cartons and suitcases | Space in the shared truck, by the cubic metre |
| A family sending to relatives | Parcels, gifts, dates and home appliances | Door-to-door parcels |
| A factory or workshop in the industrial cities | Palletised products, materials and spare parts | A full trailer, or a shared one for small quantities |
| A contractor or oilfield services company | Equipment, generators and pumps | A flatbed or low-bed truck |
| An online shop | Orders for customers in Dubai and Sharjah | Weekly consolidation in the shared truck, or air for urgent orders |
| A car owner | A daily car, a luxury car or a motorcycle | A shared carrier, an enclosed carrier or a single flatbed |
The shipping route from Dammam to the UAE and how long it takes
The route is short when measured against the Kingdom’s other cities, and that is what makes Dammam the fastest starting point for the Emirates. The truck heads south to Abqaiq and then Al-Ahsa, drops down to the shore of the Gulf of Salwa, and follows it east to Batha. Past the border it enters the Al Dhafra region and takes the coastal road to Abu Dhabi and then Dubai. Pure driving is about nine hours, and the time at the two border posts is added to it.
| Leg | Approximate length | What happens on it |
|---|---|---|
| Dammam → Al-Ahsa | About 150 km via Abqaiq | Leaving the city, and loading any Al-Ahsa shipments |
| Al-Ahsa → Batha border post | About 250 km via Salwa | Reaching the border and closing the Saudi export declaration |
| Batha → Al Ghuwaifat | Crossing the two posts | The Emirati import declaration, inspection and collection of duty where due |
| Al Ghuwaifat → Abu Dhabi | About 350 km | A coastal road through Al Dhafra, and the first delivery |
| Abu Dhabi → Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman | 130–170 km | Distributing shipments to their addresses |
The time that matters to you is not the driving time but the time from collection to delivery. One question governs that: does the truck move on loading day, or does it wait for other people?
| Shipping method | From collection to delivery | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated truck | 1–3 days | A whole home, goods that fill the truck, or a date that allows no delay |
| Shared load | 3–6 days | One or two rooms, and a few cartons and pallets |
| Car carrier | 2–4 days | Cars of every kind |
| Parcels by land | 3–6 days | Parcels and suitcases that are in no hurry |
| Air freight | One to two days | Urgent documents, parcels and samples |
What lengthens the time?
- Waiting for the truck to fill: a shared load does not leave Dammam until it is full, which can take a day or two.
- Congestion at Batha: the post receives trucks from the whole Kingdom and transit trucks from other countries, so the queue grows before the Eids and at the weekend.
- A missing paper: an absent certificate of origin or a vague list of contents sends the truck to manual inspection.
- Restrictions in towers and on islands: many buildings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi admit a furniture truck only with a permit and at set hours.
Times for the other destinations are on the transit times page.
The land route from Dammam to the UAE via the Batha – Al Ghuwaifat crossing

Batha is the only land crossing that links the Kingdom with the UAE. It lies in Al-Udaid Governorate in the east of the Eastern Province, with Al Ghuwaifat opposite it on the Emirati side. Every truck that leaves Dammam passes through it, whichever emirate it is bound for. That is why we prepare the crossing papers while the truck is still in the city: the declaration is filed electronically, the clearing agent is authorised, and the list of contents is checked line by line. When the truck reaches the yard, it joins the lane without waiting for a paper.
Before loading you choose between two things: a dedicated truck that carries nothing but your shipment, or a place in a shared truck whose hire you split with others. The comparison below settles it for most customers:
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay | The hire of the whole truck, whether you fill it or not | Only your share of the cubic metres |
| Departure | As soon as loading is finished | Once the load is complete |
| Arrival | 1–3 days | 3–6 days |
| Handling | From your door to the consignee’s door with no unloading | It may pass through the consolidation warehouse in Dammam |
| At the border | One declaration in one owner’s name | A declaration per shipment, and a hold on one delays the rest |
| For whom | A flat or a villa, and a factory’s or trader’s goods | Fewer than three rooms, cartons and parcels |
The size of the truck follows the load, not the other way round. A Dyna is enough for one or two rooms, a medium truck for a family flat, and a trailer for a whole villa or a factory order. We estimate the volume from photos you send before we suggest any of them, so that you do not pay for empty space. The service is explained on the land freight page, and details of the border posts are on the ports and gateways page.
Shipping prices from Dammam to the UAE
Dammam’s nearness to the border shows directly in the price: the road hire here is lower than from any other Saudi city. Each kind of shipment has its own pricing unit: a parcel by the piece or the kilogram, furniture by the cubic metre, the room or the truck, goods by the pallet or the tonne, and a car by its class and carrier. The figures below are where our prices start, and they cover collection from Dammam, transport and delivery to the address:
| Shipment | Means of transport | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Shared land | SAR 32 |
| Carton | Shared land | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase | Shared land | SAR 230 |
| Belongings above 50 kg | Shared land | SAR 4.6 per kilogram |
| Cubic metre | Shared land | SAR 550 |
| A few pieces of furniture | Shared land | SAR 690 |
| Complete bedroom | Small or shared truck | SAR 920 |
| Furniture of a two- to three-room flat | Dedicated truck | SAR 4,150 |
| Villa furniture | Dedicated trailer | SAR 8,300 |
| Pallet of goods | Shared land | SAR 740 |
| Commercial goods by the tonne | Large loads | SAR 735 per tonne |
| Full truck (trailer) | Transport only | SAR 6,450 |
| Saloon car | Shared carrier | SAR 1,100 |
| 4×4 | Shared carrier | SAR 1,650 |
| Car on a single flatbed | Hydraulic flatbed | SAR 2,300 |
| Car in an enclosed carrier | Enclosed carrier | SAR 2,750 |
| Urgent parcels and documents | Air freight | SAR 14 per kilogram; documents from SAR 83 |
| Heavy equipment, refrigerated freight and sea containers | According to the load | Set on request |
Prices quoted in the market for this route are higher than our table on most lines. A complete bedroom is offered at between SAR 1,000 and 1,500, a personal parcel from SAR 150, and commercial goods at between SAR 800 and 1,200 per tonne. A saloon car on a multi-car carrier runs between SAR 1,500 and 1,800, a 4×4 between SAR 1,800 and 2,200, an open hydraulic flatbed between SAR 2,500 and 3,500, and an enclosed carrier for luxury cars between SAR 3,500 and 5,000. On routes from the Kingdom to the Emirates in general, household furniture is offered from SAR 750, a parcel from SAR 40, and air freight from SAR 15 per kilogram.
| Factor | Its effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Volume | The cubic metre is the basis for furniture and goods. Estimate it with the CBM calculator |
| Weight | Governs parcels, air freight and goods priced by the tonne |
| Dedicated or shared | With a dedicated truck you bear the whole trip; with a shared one, your portion of it |
| Emirate of delivery | Abu Dhabi is nearest the border; Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are about 250 km further |
| Accompanying services | Dismantling, packing, assembly, a wooden crate and storage are priced as separate items |
| Type of goods | Valuable and fragile items, and anything needing refrigeration or a flatbed, cost more |
| Speed and season | Urgent shipping by a truck of its own is dearer, and demand is higher before the Eids and at the start of summer |
How do you cut the cost?
- Book space in the shared truck if your load is under three rooms and your date is flexible.
- Dismantle wardrobes and beds before measuring; dismantled furniture takes up about half the space.
- Combine scattered parcels into one shipment priced by the cubic metre.
- Send furniture by land, and keep the plane for the document and the light, urgent parcel.
- Obtain the certificate of origin for your Saudi goods; it saves 5% of their value at Al Ghuwaifat.
- Book two weeks ahead of your date to catch a shared truck that is already scheduled.
The remaining factors are explained on the pricing factors page.
What sets shipping from Dammam apart?
Dammam gathers in one city what is scattered elsewhere: King Abdulaziz Port on the Arabian Gulf, King Fahd International Airport to its north-west, two industrial cities, and a motorway that reaches the Emirati border in hours. A shipper here is not forced into one option but chooses between land, air and sea according to the load. These are the particulars of the city on which we build the plan for every shipment:
- Nearness to the border: only about 400 km to Batha, so a truck loaded in the morning may reach the border the same evening.
- Port cargo: goods cleared at King Abdulaziz Port with duty paid continue to the Emirates on their documents, and duty is not collected a second time once payment is proven.
- The industrial cities: loading from factories is done on their docks by forklift, and we keep to the site’s gate times and safety requirements.
- Humidity and heat: the coastal air is damp, so moisture absorbers go in with electronics and books, and no wet wood is wrapped.
- Truck movement inside the city: the entry of large trucks into residential districts is regulated by the traffic authorities at set hours, so we confirm the hours in force before loading day.
The rest of our services in the city, including shipping to Asia and Europe, are in the article International shipping company in Dammam.
Shipping furniture and household goods from Dammam to the UAE

Household furniture is what we move most on this route, and what suffers most if loaded as it stands. The road is level and fast, but nine hours of vibration are enough to loosen a wardrobe that was not dismantled or to break glass that was not cushioned. So the work starts before the truck arrives: dismantling, then packing, then numbering. After that the pieces are stacked and secured with straps inside the truck so that they do not slide under braking.
| Item | How it is prepared | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Wardrobes and beds | Dismantled into numbered panels, with the screws in a bag taped to them | Saves space and prevents loosening |
| Sofas and majlis seating | A fabric cover, then stretch wrap, with protection for legs and corners | Prevents rubbing and soiling |
| Mattresses | Fitted bags sealed tightly | Keeps out dust and damp |
| Glass, mirrors and paintings | Foam on both sides and a wooden frame, loaded upright | Glass withstands a knock standing, not lying flat |
| Fridge, washing machine and oven | Disconnected a day ahead and dried, with drawers and the drum fixed | Leftover water damages what sits beside them |
| Air conditioners | The gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit and the two units are wrapped separately | So they work after installation without a new charge |
| Kitchenware, ornaments and books | Double-wall cartons, paper between pieces, and a moderate weight | The bottom of a heavy carton opens when lifted |
Your appliances mostly work in the Emirates without a transformer: the voltage there is 230 V and the socket is the three-pin type common in the Kingdom. The difference is in the frequency, which is 50 Hz in the Emirates, and most modern appliances are built for both frequencies. For anything with an older motor we check its rating plate with you before you pay to ship it. Details of the service are on the furniture shipping page, and packing methods are in the packing guide.
Temporary storage and packing materials
Many people hand over their home in Dammam before they receive the key to their home in the Emirates. The shipment is left between two dates and needs a safe place to wait. We keep it in a closed warehouse, packed, numbered and with its list, and it goes from there straight onto the truck on the day you fix for receiving it. Storage is priced by the cubic metre and the period, and appears in the price as a separate item.
As for packing materials, we choose them by the piece, not by what happens to be at hand:
- Corrugated cartons: double-wall for kitchenware and books, and hanging wardrobe cartons for clothes.
- Bubble wrap: for glass, screens, ornaments and any surface that scratches.
- Stretch film: holds drawers and doors shut and keeps dust off fabric.
- Foam and cardboard corners: for the edges of tables, marble and appliances.
- Wooden crates: for chandeliers, large mirrors and sensitive equipment, made to measure.
How the load is tied down inside the truck is explained on the packing and lashing page, and the storage conditions on the storage page.
Shipping parcels, suitcases and appliances
Half the people who call us are not moving a home. They are sending a carton of Khalas dates to a brother in Al Ain, two suitcases to a son who has started university in Sharjah, or a screen bought in Khobar. These small shipments ride the same shared truck that carries furniture, and are priced by a unit that fits their size.
| What you send | Pricing unit | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Per parcel | SAR 32 | The consignee’s name and UAE number on two faces of the parcel |
| Carton | Per carton | SAR 140 | Double wall, and no more than 30 kg |
| Suitcase | Per suitcase | SAR 230 | Wrapped and numbered, with no liquids that can leak |
| Belongings above 50 kg | Per kilogram | SAR 4.6 per kilogram | Weighed in front of you at collection |
| Many parcels | Per cubic metre | SAR 550 | Cheaper once there are more than four cartons |
A low-value personal parcel mostly enters the Emirates free of duty, and gifts have a value limit that customs there sets and changes, so we confirm what is in force for your parcel before it is sent. New appliances are listed with their invoices, and dates and home-made food go in personal quantities and sealed packs. Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping commercial goods and factory products
The Eastern Province is the Kingdom’s largest industrial cluster, and the Emirates are the first export market for many of its factories. The two countries are in one customs union, so a Saudi product enters the Emirates free of duty when a certificate of origin accompanies it, and foreign goods on which duty was paid at Dammam port are not charged again if the documents prove payment.
- Pallets and cartons: in the shared truck, a pallet from SAR 740 and a cubic metre from SAR 550.
- Full loads: a closed or curtain-sided trailer from SAR 6,450, and heavy goods by the tonne from SAR 735.
- Building materials, steel and equipment: a flatbed truck, or a low-bed for tall equipment, chained down and sheeted.
- Food, dairy and medicines: a refrigerated truck with a temperature record for the whole trip, booked in advance.
- Free zones: we deliver in Jebel Ali and the airport free zone in Dubai, Mussafah in Abu Dhabi and the industrial areas of Sharjah and Ajman, following each zone’s procedures.
- Documents: a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, road waybill and the commercial registration of both parties.
Equipment beyond the legal dimensions needs a road permit, which we arrange before the date, and its price is set on request because every piece is a case of its own. Both services are explained on the commercial shipping and heavy equipment shipping pages.
Car shipping from Dammam to the UAE
The road from Dammam to Abu Dhabi can be driven in a single day, which is why some owners drive their cars themselves. But anyone who travels by air, owns more than one car, or does not want to add hundreds of kilometres to the odometer of a luxury car hands it to a carrier. We photograph it from every side before loading, record the odometer reading, and secure it by the wheels, not the body.
| Car | Carrier | Price starts from | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saloon or hatchback | Shared open carrier | SAR 1,100 | The everyday car |
| 4×4 or large family car | Shared open carrier | SAR 1,650 | Heavier and taller cars |
| Any car with door collection | Single hydraulic flatbed | SAR 2,300 | Those who want their own date, or a low car |
| Luxury, sports or classic | Enclosed carrier | SAR 2,750 | What is kept from sun, dust and view |
| A motorcycle, or a car that does not run | According to the case | Set on request | What needs special loading |
- Before leaving the Kingdom: fines are settled, and export plates and the export certificate are obtained from the traffic department if the car is to be registered in the Emirates. Anyone shipping it in another person’s name needs the owner’s authorisation.
- On entry: the rule in practice is a duty of 5% of the car’s value unless earlier payment within the GCC is proven, then a technical test, insurance and registration with the licensing authority of the emirate. Conditions on the car’s age and state change, so we confirm what is in force before the plates are surrendered.
- Temporary entry: someone who drives in on Saudi plates as a visitor and returns needs no export. If your trip calls for a carnet, it is explained on the triptik page.
- Loading day: a clean car so that every scratch shows in the photos, a quarter of a tank of fuel, and a boot empty of personal items.
Carrier types and the registration procedure in each emirate are set out in the article Car shipping company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE and on the car shipping page.
Customs at Batha and Al Ghuwaifat and the documents required
The truck stops at two customs authorities: the Saudi one at Batha to close the export declaration, and the Emirati one at Al Ghuwaifat for classification, inspection and collection of what is due. The Saudi declaration is filed through the Fasah platform before the truck arrives, and our clearing agent on the other side files the import declaration. The general rule in the Emirates is a duty of 5% of the value of the goods with their freight and insurance, and 5% VAT on imports, with exemptions for those who meet their conditions.
| Type of shipment | From the sender in Dammam | From the consignee in the Emirates | Customs treatment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and effects | ID or Iqama, a numbered list of contents, and the final exit visa for a departing resident | Passport, and UAE residence visa or Emirates ID | Mostly exempt for someone moving to live there |
| Parcels and gifts | A description of the contents and their value | Name, mobile number and address | Exempt within the limits of personal use |
| Saudi or Gulf-made product | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration | Trade licence and customs importer code | No duty; VAT is collected |
| Foreign-made goods | Invoice, packing list, and proof that duty was paid if it was | Trade licence and customs importer code | 5% if not paid before |
| Car | Registration, export certificate, and the owner’s ID or authorisation | UAE residence visa or Emirates ID | 5% if not paid before |
| Food, medicines and cosmetics | Health or analysis certificates and the product label | Approval of the competent authority for commercial quantities | According to the item |
The exemption for used furniture is not an automatic right. It is granted to someone who is really moving to live there, whose belongings are used and for personal use rather than sale; proof of residence is asked for with it, and the owner of the shipment or an agent may be required to attend the inspection. A new piece in its carton among the furniture is counted as goods. Because application is in the hands of the inspector at the border, we review your file and confirm the conditions in force before the truck is loaded.
Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page, and the release steps on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to the UAE or needs a permit
Most delays at Al Ghuwaifat are caused by an item its owner never thought was restricted: a medicine without a prescription, a small camera drone, or many bottles of perfume. So we ask about the contents carton by carton at the inventory, and take out what is in the table before the truck is closed:
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Narcotics and psychotropic substances | Strictly prohibited, with severe penalties in both countries |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited, or by licence from the competent authority |
| Flammable materials, hazardous chemicals and gas cylinders | Not loaded with general shipments |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated, and the owner is fined |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with a prescription; commercial quantities with a health permit |
| Cosmetics and food supplements | Commercial quantities with prior registration |
| Drones and radio equipment | With the approval of the regulator |
| Plants, seeds and offshoots | With a phytosanitary certificate |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Stay with their owner and are not put in the shipment |
The general list with its exceptions is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering shipments from Dammam in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Al Ain

After Al Ghuwaifat the truck runs east along the coastal road, passing Abu Dhabi first, then Dubai, then Sharjah and Ajman. Al Ain is reached by an inland road that branches off before Abu Dhabi. The order of delivery therefore follows the geography, and an Abu Dhabi shipment comes off half a day before an Ajman one. Our delivery is inside the home: unloading into the rooms, assembling what was dismantled, and checking against the list.
| City | Distance from Al Ghuwaifat | Areas where we deliver | What to allow for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abu Dhabi | About 350 km | Abu Dhabi Island, Al Reem, Al Khalidiyah, Khalifa City, Mussafah | Islands and towers ask for a permit for the truck to enter |
| Al Ain | About 480 km | Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Hili, Zakher | Ground-floor houses and villas, with direct unloading |
| Dubai | About 480 km | Marina, Al Barsha, Deira, Mirdif, Al Quoz, Jebel Ali | Booking the service lift, and set hours for furniture trucks |
| Sharjah | About 500 km | Al Nahda, Al Taawun, Muwaileh, the industrial areas | Delivery outside rush hours |
| Ajman | About 520 km | Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Jurf | Delivered on the same round as Sharjah |
| Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah | 540–600 km | City centres and their suburbs | Mostly the day after crossing |
For delivery without delay, send us the full address: the name of the area and building and the flat number, with the Makani number if the address is in Dubai, and a UAE mobile number the consignee answers. Tell the building management about the truck a day ahead. More about the destination is on the shipping to the UAE page, and the service is described on the door-to-door shipping page.
Payment and receiving
The price is written out item by item before you pay anything: transport, packing, clearance, delivery, and what it does not include, such as customs duty where due. Payment is by bank transfer to the establishment’s account or in cash against a receipt voucher, and when you book we agree what is paid before loading and what is paid on delivery. Companies under contract are billed with a tax invoice according to their contract.
- At collection in Dammam: you sign the list of contents and take a copy of it with the collection note and the shipment number.
- Delivery appointment: we set it with the consignee a day ahead, in a slot that suits them and meets the building’s requirements.
- Who receives: the owner of the shipment or someone named in writing, who is asked for proof of identity.
- At the door: the pieces are checked against the list, and any remark is written in the delivery report before signing.
Is there sea freight from Dammam to the UAE?
Yes, and in this Dammam differs from the cities of the west coast. King Abdulaziz Port, Jebel Ali Port and Khalifa Port all lie on the Arabian Gulf, so the voyage is short and involves no sailing round the peninsula. But a container needs a booking, handling in two ports and clearance in each, so it takes a week or two door to door, and the truck beats it by days. Sea here is for those shipping heavy or recurring commercial containers that time does not press, and the price is set on request. For furniture, parcels and a single car, land is faster and involves less handling. Details of the service are on the sea freight page.
Air freight from Dammam to the UAE

There are direct flights between King Fahd International Airport and the airports of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and the flying time is about an hour and a quarter. We collect the parcel or envelope from your address in Dammam or Khobar and hand it to the cargo building at the airport; it is cleared on arrival and delivered in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in one to two days.
| What goes by air | Price starts from | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Documents, contracts and certificates | SAR 83 | One to two days | A sealed envelope, delivered against the consignee’s signature |
| Personal parcels and gifts | SAR 14 per kilogram | One to two days | Charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight |
| Urgent samples and spare parts | SAR 14 per kilogram | One to two days | With an invoice and a declared value |
| A large shipment or an urgent car | Set on request | According to the flight available | Space is booked in advance by dimensions and weight |
- Volumetric weight: a large, light parcel is charged by its volume, not its weight. Estimate it with the volumetric weight calculator.
- What the aircraft refuses: perfumes and aerosols in quantity, loose batteries and flammable liquids.
- Its practical limit: above roughly 50 kg, land becomes clearly cheaper, especially as the truck from Dammam arrives in one to 3 days.
- Outside Dubai and Abu Dhabi: the other emirates are delivered by road from the airport the next day.
More on flying cargo out of the Eastern Province is on the air freight page; land, sea and air are weighed against each other on the shipping methods comparison page.
A specialist shipping company or the global express couriers?
The global express couriers do one thing well: the small parcel and the document, at a fixed tariff over a network that covers the world. Shipping between Dammam and the Emirates is mostly something else: furniture that is dismantled and assembled, goods on pallets, and cars. So the question is not which is better, but which is for your shipment. The table sets the two services side by side:
| Point of comparison | A land shipping company specialised in the route | A global express courier |
|---|---|---|
| What it carries | Furniture, luggage, goods, cars and parcels | Documents and parcels of limited size and weight |
| Means | A truck door to door, and air when needed | Mostly air |
| Basis of the price | Volume, the room or the truck | Weight in kilograms, rising fast with volume |
| Packing and assembly | Done by a crew in your home and in the consignee’s home | Left to the sender |
| Customs | A file prepared for each shipment, with the furniture exemption requested on its papers | A standard procedure for parcels |

Collection from the districts of Dammam and the cities of the Eastern Province
Carry nothing to an office or a warehouse. The crew comes to your address with the cartons and packing materials, and dismantles, packs and loads in one visit. Small parcels are picked up by a courier on a daily round. We cover every district of Dammam and the cities of the province around it:
| Area | Districts and sites | Collection note |
|---|---|---|
| North Dammam and its seafront | Ash-Shati, Al-Hamra, Al-Manar, Al-Faisaliyah, Taibah | Villas and apartment blocks, and the truck stops at the door |
| Central Dammam | Al-Mazruiyah, Al-Jalawiyah, Ar-Rayyan, Badr, Ghirnatah | Loading outside rush hours |
| West Dammam | Uhud, An-Nur, Al-Fayha, An-Nada, Ad-Dabab | Close to the Abqaiq road exit, so they are loaded last |
| Industrial sites and the port | The First and Second Industrial Cities, King Abdulaziz Port | Loading from the docks at the site’s times |
| Khobar and Dhahran | Al-Aqrabiyah, Thuqbah, Ar-Rakah, Al-Aziziyah, Ad-Doha, Ad-Danah | On the same round as Dammam |
| Qatif, Saihat, Tarout and Safwa | The governorate’s districts and towns | Added to the Dammam truck |
| Jubail, Ras Tanura and Abqaiq | Jubail town and the industrial city, Rahimah | A collection run that is shown in the price |
| Al-Ahsa | Hofuf, Mubarraz and the villages | On the road to the border, so loaded as the truck passes |
Steps for shipping from Dammam to the UAE
- Send the details: photos of what you will ship on WhatsApp, your district in Dammam, and the emirate and area where you will take delivery.
- Receive the price: a figure with its items, along with the expected time for the method that suits your load.
- Confirm the booking: we fix the loading day, and you send copies of your ID and the consignee’s UAE residence visa or Emirates ID.
- Preparing the crossing papers: we draw up the list of contents, file the declaration and authorise the clearing agent before the truck moves.
- Dismantling, packing and numbering: the crew works in your home, and you review the list and sign it.
- Loading: the pieces are stacked and secured with straps, and you receive the collection note and the shipment number.
- Crossing: the export declaration is closed at Batha, and import is completed at Al Ghuwaifat with duty paid where due.
- Delivery: unloading and assembly at the address, a check against the list, and the consignee’s signature on the report.
Anyone who prefers to start in writing can fill in the quote request form.
Tracking and insuring the shipment: how do we make sure it arrives safely?
A shipment’s safety is not secured by a promise but by steps carried out in order: a survey before pricing, packing to suit the piece, photos before sealing, lashing inside the truck, and a report at delivery. The trip from Dammam is short, but the owner still wants to know where the shipment is at every stage. One staff member follows it and tells you when it leaves the city, when it enters the Batha yard, after release at Al Ghuwaifat, and before it reaches the door.
- Shipment number: on the collection note, and you can check it on the shipment tracking page.
- Photo record: the pieces before they are packed and the load after it is stacked, with a copy sent to you.
- Insurance: optional, and calculated on the declared value; its limits are on the cargo insurance page.
- In a dispute: the reference is the signed list of contents and the delivery report, which is why we insist on writing both precisely.
Shipping from the UAE to Dammam
The route works in both directions, and a truck that unloads in Dubai comes back loaded. We collect from your address in any emirate, clear for export at Al Ghuwaifat and for import at Batha, and deliver in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran and the rest of the province. A returning Saudi or resident brings in used furniture with a list of contents and proof of previous residence there. Emirati-made goods enter free of duty with a certificate of origin, and new products subject to conformity need their certificate through the Saber platform. We confirm what your shipment requires before we send the crew.
Tips before shipping from Dammam to the UAE
The shortness of the road tempts people to rush, and most problems on this route come from a shipment loaded before its papers were complete. These seven tips sum up what we have learnt from it:
- Prepare the paper before the carton: the consignee’s UAE residence visa or Emirates ID is the first thing we ask for, and no declaration is opened without it.
- Separate new from used: put new purchases in cartons of their own and list them with their invoices.
- Describe the contents as they are: “Carton 7: books and files” is clearer to the inspector than “miscellaneous”.
- Ask the receiving building: the truck entry permit and the lift hours differ from one tower to the next.
- Choose the method by the date: if the arrival day is fixed, a dedicated truck is safer than waiting for a shared load.
- Avoid Eid week: a truck that moves a few days before it crosses in hours, and one that moves during it waits.
- Carry what cannot be replaced: passports, certificates, jewellery and daily medicines travel with their owner.
How do you choose the best shipping company from Dammam to the UAE?
Adverts are many, and most repeat the same words: fastest, cheapest and a big discount. The right choice starts with specific questions, because the company’s answers show whether it actually runs the route or sells the order on to someone else:
| Ask about | A reassuring sign | A warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Asks for photos and an address, then writes out the items | A discount percentage with no figure, or a figure before knowing the load |
| Time | Tells dedicated from shared and allows for time at the border | A promise of set hours for a shared load |
| Customs | Asks about the consignee’s residence visa and anything new in the shipment | “No customs on anything” without seeing the list |
| The Emirati side | A clearing agent at Al Ghuwaifat and an unloading and assembly crew | Its responsibility ends at the border |
| Paperwork | Commercial registration, a contract, a collection note and a signed list | Only a mobile number and a personal account |
| Insurance and compensation | Explains what is covered and what is not | “One hundred per cent guaranteed” with no policy |
Customer reviews help if they are read with care. Look for a review that mentions the same route and real details: how many days the shipment took, how a damaged piece was dealt with, and whether the price changed after loading. Ask the company for its commercial registration number and check it before you transfer any amount.
Common mistakes when shipping from Dammam to the UAE
- Assuming that a short distance makes papers unnecessary, so the truck stands at Batha for the sake of one sheet.
- Shipping Saudi-made goods without a certificate of origin, and paying a duty that would have been waived.
- Hiding new appliances among used furniture, so the whole shipment is inspected and delayed.
- Booking a shared truck for a delivery date that cannot slip by a single day.
- Sending a car for registration in the Emirates before obtaining export plates and settling the fines.
- Forgetting to tell the tower or compound management, so the truck is turned back at the gate.
- Agreeing verbally, with no contract stating what the price covers and what it does not.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Dammam to the UAE
How much does shipping from Dammam to the UAE cost?
A parcel of up to 5 kg starts from SAR 32, a carton from SAR 140, a suitcase from SAR 230, a cubic metre from SAR 550, a bedroom from SAR 920, the furniture of a two- to three-room flat from SAR 4,150, and a saloon car on a shared carrier from SAR 1,100. The final figure is set once we know the volume, your district in the Eastern Province and the emirate where you will take delivery. To book, call 0552803439.
How long does a shipment take from Dammam to Dubai?
A truck booked for you alone arrives one to 3 days after loading. A shared load takes 3 to 6 days because it waits for the truck to fill. An air parcel from King Fahd Airport is delivered in one to two days. Abu Dhabi is hours ahead of Dubai because it is nearer the border.
What is the road distance between Dammam and Dubai?
About 870 km by road. Roughly 400 km of it lies inside the Kingdom, from Dammam to the Batha border post by way of Abqaiq, Al-Ahsa and Salwa, then about 350 km from Al Ghuwaifat to Abu Dhabi, then close to 130 km on to Dubai.
Which border post does the truck use to enter the UAE?
Batha, the only land crossing between the Kingdom and the UAE, at the far eastern end of the Eastern Province. Opposite it stands Al Ghuwaifat, in the Al Dhafra region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. No other land road is open to a truck leaving Dammam.
Is customs duty paid on used furniture entering the UAE?
The rule in practice is that the used furniture and effects of someone moving to live there are exempt from duty when they are for personal use and come with a list of contents and the consignee’s UAE residence visa or Emirates ID. New pieces in their cartons are treated as goods, at 5% duty and 5% VAT. The decision rests with the customs inspector, so we confirm what is in force before loading.
What documents are needed to ship from Dammam to the UAE?
For household goods: the sender’s ID or Iqama, the consignee’s passport and UAE residence visa or Emirates ID, and a numbered list of contents. For goods: a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the commercial registration of both parties. For a car: the registration, the export certificate, the owner’s ID and proof that no fines are outstanding.
Do you offer insurance on the shipment?
Yes, and it is optional and separate from the freight charge. It is calculated on the value you declare in the list of contents and covers the road from Dammam to delivery. We recommend it for valuable furniture, appliances and commercial goods, and we explain its limits before you pay the premium.
What payment methods are available?
A bank transfer to the establishment’s account, or cash against a receipt voucher. When you book, we agree what is paid before loading and what is paid on delivery, and it is written into the contract. We never ask for a transfer to a personal account.
Can I track my shipment on the road?
Yes. You receive the shipment number on loading day, and a message when the truck leaves Dammam, when it enters the Batha yard, after release at Al Ghuwaifat and before delivery. You also keep the number of the staff member following it, to ask at any time between 7 am and 11 pm.
Do you collect from the address and deliver to the address?
Yes, that is the core service. The crew comes to your home or warehouse in Dammam with the packing materials and loads from the door. In the Emirates the shipment is unloaded inside the home or warehouse, and the furniture is assembled if you asked for that when booking.
Do you ship cars from Dammam to the UAE?
Yes. A saloon on a shared carrier starts from SAR 1,100, a 4×4 from SAR 1,650, a single flatbed from SAR 2,300, and the enclosed carrier from SAR 2,750. The car is photographed before loading, secured by its wheels, and delivered in the emirate you name.
Is there air freight from Dammam to the UAE?
Yes, from King Fahd International Airport to the airports of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with about an hour and a quarter of flying. It is for urgent documents, parcels and samples, starting from SAR 14 per kilogram, with documents from SAR 83, and delivery in one to two days.
Is sea freight from Dammam port to the UAE suitable?
For heavy commercial containers, yes, since King Abdulaziz Port and Jebel Ali Port lie on the same Gulf. For furniture and parcels the truck is faster and simpler, because it is loaded once at the door and opened at the door. The container price is set on request.
Do you collect from Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail and Al-Ahsa?
Yes. Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Saihat are served on the same round as Dammam. Jubail, Ras Tanura and Abqaiq are added to the trip with a short run. Al-Ahsa lies on the road to the border, so its shipment is loaded as the truck heads south.
Do you ship from the UAE to Dammam?
Yes. We collect from your address in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, clear at Al Ghuwaifat and Batha, and deliver in any district of Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran. Someone returning to the Kingdom brings in used furniture with a list of contents and proof of previous residence in the Emirates.
