Prohibited Items
This is a guide list of what is not shipped or needs a permit. Lists differ from one country to another, so we review your shipment’s contents with you before sending — and a single undeclared item can hold up a whole shipment.
Prohibited at most destinations
- Flammable and explosive materials and compressed gases.
- Toxic chemicals and pesticides.
- Weapons, their parts and ammunition.
- Substances banned by law.
- Cash, jewellery and precious metals.
- Counterfeit goods or goods infringing property rights.
Need a permit or special conditions
- Batteries and devices containing lithium batteries, especially by air.
- Perfumes, liquids and paints and aerosols.
- Medicines and medical preparations.
- Foodstuffs, plants and seeds — and some countries are very strict here.
- Antiques and artefacts and anything of heritage value.
- Wireless devices and some electronic equipment.
Items people overlook
- Small gas canisters in camping gear.
- Lighters and matches inside bags.
- Leftover liquids in cleaning appliances.
- Spare batteries inside furniture boxes.
What do you do if in doubt?
Mention the item in your request and we will confirm whether it can be shipped to your destination specifically. Asking before shipping costs less than having the shipment held afterwards.
