Container Sizes
Choosing the right size saves you more than any haggling over price. These are the sizes available and what suits each.
20-foot container
- Capacity: about 28 cubic metres.
- Suits: the furniture of a small or mid-sized flat, one car, or a limited commercial shipment.
40-foot container
- Capacity: about 58 cubic metres.
- Suits: a whole villa’s furniture, two cars, or one car with spare parts and belongings.
Its price is not double the twenty-foot — so if your shipment is slightly over 28 cubic metres, the forty-foot is cheaper per metre.
40-foot High Cube container
- Capacity: about 66 cubic metres — with roughly 30 centimetres of extra height.
- Suits: bulky, light goods and long pieces.
Open-top and flat-rack containers
For equipment taller than a standard container or too large for its door — cranes, machinery and project pieces. Loaded from the top or the side.
Shared container (LCL)
You do not have to book a whole container. If your shipment is a few cubic metres, it shares a container with other shipments and you pay only for what it occupies.
In return for a longer wait until the container is full, and more handling.
How do you know your size?
Use the CBM calculator on the site: enter the dimensions of your pieces and you will get the total volume, and from it the right size. Or send us photos and a list of what you are shipping and we will work it out for you.
A tip
Do not book a larger size “to be safe”. Empty space is paid for, and it is better that we measure your shipment exactly first.
