Heavy Equipment Shipping
Cranes, generators, excavators and project equipment: shipments that need planning before execution, not a quick booking.
What is different about heavy equipment?
- Measurement first: length, width, height and weight — these decide whether it fits a container or needs shipping on an open deck.
- Partial dismantling: an excavator’s arm or a crane’s mast may be removed to reduce the dimensions and lower the cost.
- Engineered securing: calculated lashing points that bear the loads during the voyage.
- Load permits: for inland transport when the equipment exceeds the dimensions allowed on the road.
Shipping methods
- RoRo for self-propelled equipment.
- Open-top or flat-rack container for equipment taller than a standard container.
- Shipping on deck for very large pieces.
What we need from you
- Exact dimensions and weight — a rough estimate is costly here.
- Photos of the equipment from every side.
- Does it run under its own power, or does it need lifting?
- The collection site, and whether a truck can enter it.
Before we price
For large equipment we sometimes ask for a site inspection. This is not a formality — a quote built on wrong dimensions falls apart at execution.
