Who ships a car from Madinah to Qatar?

Most people who call us about this route are one of five. An employee, doctor or engineer in Madinah who has taken a job in Doha and wants the car there too. A Qatari, or a resident of Qatar, who bought a car from a Madinah showroom during a visit. A dealer sending several cars at once. The owner of a valuable older car who does not trust the road with it. Or a motorcycle enthusiast who wants the bike in Qatar before the winter season. Each has a carrier that suits them and paperwork of their own.

Who is asking What they ship Best carrier
Someone relocating to work and live in Qatar The family car, sometimes a second one Shared open carrier
A buyer from Madinah showrooms A new or recent used car Open, or enclosed for a new car
A dealer or showroom owner Several cars on one trip A whole carrier booked for them
The owner of a luxury or classic car A high-value or rare car Enclosed
A motorcycle enthusiast or event participant A motorcycle or a show car Enclosed or a dedicated flatbed

This article covers cars and motorcycles only. If you also have furniture, suitcases or goods, the details are in the shipping company from Madinah to Qatar article, and you can combine both consignments in one booking.

The road from Madinah to Qatar via the Salwa – Abu Samra crossing, and how long the trip takes

The road from Madinah to Qatar via the Salwa – Abu Samra crossing

The carrier has no need to pass through Jeddah or Makkah. It leaves Madinah eastwards on the Qassim road, passes Al-Hanakiyah and reaches Riyadh after about 850 km. It then carries on east to Al-Ahsa and drops south to Salwa after about 480 km more. Once across into Abu Samra, about 100 km remain to Doha. So it is a direct road trip of about 1,430 km, all of it on dual-carriageway motorways that suit long car carriers.

Stage Approximate distance Usual time
Collecting the car, inspecting it and moving it to the loading yard Within Madinah Half a day
Madinah → Riyadh About 850 km via Qassim A day to a day and a half
Riyadh → Salwa border post About 480 km via Al-Ahsa 6–8 hours
Clearance at Salwa, then Abu Samra — Hours to a day
Abu Samra → Doha About 100 km One to two hours
Unloading, inspection and handover Within Qatar Half a day
Means of transport Door-to-door time When it moves
Shared open carrier 4–6 days When its load is complete, from Madinah or from Riyadh
Enclosed carrier 4–6 days By advance booking on a fixed date
Dedicated flatbed for your car alone Usually 3–4 days On the day you choose
Air freight A few days after the booking is confirmed According to the available flight

What lengthens the time?

  • Waiting for the carrier to fill: fewer cars leave Madinah for Qatar than leave Riyadh, so a shared carrier may wait a day or two.
  • The export certificate: if the traffic department has not issued it before loading day, the car stays in the yard until it is.
  • An unpaid fine: a single violation against the car stops the whole export procedure.
  • Visiting seasons: in Ramadan and during Hajj, restrictions on large vehicles around the city centre tighten, so we collect with a small flatbed in the permitted hours.
  • Congestion at Salwa: before Eid and holidays the truck queues grow, and there is no other crossing to divert to.

Times for other destinations are gathered on the transit times page.

Car shipping prices from Madinah to Qatar

The price of moving a car follows three things: its size and weight, the type of carrier it rides on, and whether it travels with others or alone. The distance is the same for every customer, so it does not change the price from one car to the next. The prices below are where our service starts, from the home or showroom door in Madinah to the address in Qatar; they do not include government fees or Qatari customs duty where it is due.

Vehicle Carrier Price starts from
Saloon or hatchback Shared open SAR 2,020
4×4 or large family car Shared open SAR 2,570
Luxury, sports or new car Enclosed SAR 3,860
Classic car Enclosed SAR 3,860
Pickup or van Open Set on request
Motorcycle, or a car and a motorcycle together Enclosed, or with its owner’s car Set on request
Non-running car Winch flatbed, then carrier Set on request
Dedicated flatbed, door to door Covered flatbed for one car Set on request
Air freight for the car From Madinah airport or via Jeddah Set on request

Prices quoted in the market for this route are mostly higher than that. Moving a saloon from Madinah to Qatar is offered at SAR 3,000 to 4,000, a 4×4 or mid-size car at SAR 4,000 to 5,000, and a luxury car in an enclosed carrier at SAR 6,000 to 8,000. Some add about SAR 500 for covering and protection, SAR 800 to 1,200 for clearance and documents at the border, and about SAR 100 for each day of storage. From Riyadh, which is some 850 km closer to Qatar, a dedicated flatbed is offered at about SAR 2,900. So when a figure reaches you, set it against the table, and ask whether it covers collection from home, clearance and delivery, or only transport between two yards.

What sets the price Its effect
The vehicle’s size and weight A 4×4 takes more room and weight on the carrier than a saloon
Carrier type An enclosed carrier holds fewer cars, so each car’s share of its hire is higher
Shared or dedicated On a shared carrier you split the hire with others; on a dedicated one you pay for the whole trip
The car’s condition One that does not run needs a winch and more time
Collection and delivery points Governorates far from Madinah, and Al Khor and Al Shamal in Qatar, add flatbed distance
Insured value Comprehensive insurance is calculated on the declared value
Season Summer and the end of the school year bring higher demand on this route

How do you bring the cost down?

  • Choose the shared open carrier if your car is an ordinary one and your date is flexible.
  • Bring the car to the loading yard yourself and pick it up from our yard in Doha, and both flatbed charges drop away.
  • If you have two cars, or a car and a motorcycle, book them together on one trip.
  • Finish the export certificate before booking; a car waiting in the yard has a cost.
  • Book at least two weeks before summer, when most people relocate to Qatar.

The pricing items are explained on the pricing factors page.

What is different about shipping cars from Madinah?

Madinah is not on a coast and is not a major carrier hub like Riyadh, and that changes how the work is done. A long carrier holding six cars or more does not enter residential districts or come near the central area around the Prophet’s Mosque; entry of large vehicles to the city centre is regulated by hours set by the traffic department and tighter in the seasons. So we collect each car from where it is with a small flatbed, gather the cars in a loading yard on the edge of the city towards the Qassim road, and from there the carrier heads straight east.

In return, Madinah has two advantages. The first is that the Qassim road begins there, so no hours are lost crossing the western cities or climbing mountain passes that strain a loaded carrier. The second is that it has an international airport with direct flights to Doha, which opens the door to air freight for an urgent car without first moving it to another city, whenever a suitable aircraft is available.

Particular Its effect on shipping the car What we do
Restrictions on large vehicles in the city centre The carrier does not reach the house door A small flatbed collects the car, and we confirm the hours in force before loading day
Fewer cars moving towards Qatar A shared carrier may wait We complete the load from Qassim or Riyadh on the same road
Visitors’ cars A Qatari visitor buys a car and leaves by air We take it under a notarised authorisation and finish what remains of its paperwork
An international airport in the city A nearby air option We book from Madinah airport, or via Jeddah if no suitable aircraft is available

Types of car carrier: open, enclosed or a dedicated flatbed?

Choosing the carrier is the most important decision after the decision to ship. The open double-deck carrier is what you see on the motorways loaded with dealership cars, and it is the cheapest because it carries many. The enclosed one is a box with sides and a roof; the car enters it on a low ramp and nobody sees it until it arrives. The dedicated flatbed carries your car alone, covered, from your door in Madinah to your door in Qatar with no transfer.

Carrier Its advantage Its drawback For whom
Shared open Lowest price, frequent trips The car is exposed to dust and sun Saloons, family cars and 4x4s
Enclosed Full protection for the paint, and privacy Higher price, advance booking Luxury, sports and classic cars, and motorcycles
Dedicated covered flatbed A date you choose, no transfer on the way You pay for the whole trip Those in a hurry, and the owner of one valuable car

On all three, the car is secured by its wheels with wide fabric straps, not by its body or its suspension arms. A gap is left between each car and the next, the gearbox is put in park and the handbrake applied. The detailed comparison of car transport methods is in the car shipping guide.

Shipping motorcycles and family cars from Madinah to Qatar

Shipping motorcycles and family cars from Madinah to Qatar

A family moving from Madinah to Doha usually ships a seven-seat family car or a 4×4, and the head of the household may have a motorcycle he does not want to sell. A large family car rides on the lower deck of the open carrier, because its height and weight do not suit the upper deck. The roof rack and roof box are removed before loading, or the car would exceed the height allowed on the road.

A motorcycle, on the other hand, is never laid on its side. It is loaded upright on a metal stand that grips its front wheel, and tied from the handlebars and the rear frame with four straps until its front spring compresses a little and it cannot sway. We disconnect a battery terminal and leave a little fuel in the tank. If the motorcycle and the car belong to one owner, they travel together on one trip under one file at the border.

Vehicle type How we load it A note specific to the Qatar route
Saloon and hatchback Either deck of the open carrier The most commonly shipped on this route
Family car and 4×4 Lower deck, after removing the roof rack Price starts from SAR 2,570
Pickup and van Lower deck or a flatbed The load bed is handed over empty
Motorcycle Upright and secured in an enclosed carrier Travels alone or with its owner’s car
Non-running car A winch pulls it onto the flatbed Tell us its condition when you book

Moving luxury, sports and classic cars from Madinah to Qatar

A luxury car is no different from any other on the road; the difference is in the margin for error. A small scratch on an ordinary car is fixed for a modest sum, while on a car with special paint it may mean respraying a whole panel. That is why these cars travel in an enclosed carrier, loaded by a driver trained on low cars, with a condition report photographed from dozens of angles.

  • The ramp: a low sports car needs a long, shallow ramp or a horizontal hydraulic lift, so that its front bumper does not scrape.
  • Securing: soft straps around the tyres only, with no chains and no contact with the rims.
  • The cover: a fabric cover that lets air through inside the box, not tight plastic that traps heat over the paint.
  • Classics: we ask about oil leaks, the state of the brakes and how it starts, and put a tray under the engine if needed.
  • Value: we record the declared value in the contract and suggest comprehensive insurance to cover it.

We alert the owner of a classic car to one thing before paying: the age condition applied in Qatar concerns permanent registration, and heritage cars are treated differently. So we ask the clearing agent about your particular car before it moves from Madinah, and do not load it on an assumption.

Preparing the car before loading and protecting it on the carrier

Half of the car’s safety is made before it boards the carrier. A well-prepared car loads quickly, is examined at the border without remarks, and is handed over in Qatar with no dispute about its condition. Preparation needs no workshop, just an hour of your time on the day before collection.

  • Fuel: a quarter of a tank is enough for loading, unloading and reaching the nearest station in Qatar.
  • Personal belongings: empty the glovebox, door pockets and luggage space completely; papers, sunglasses and the parking-payment tag come out too.
  • Washing: a clean car shows its old scratches in the photos, so they are not attributed to the trip.
  • Photos: photograph it from all four sides, the roof and the interior, and photograph the odometer and the instrument panel with the engine running.
  • Odometer: we record its reading in the collection report and compare it at delivery.
  • Tyres and battery: correct pressure and a charged battery, because the car is driven on and off the carrier.
  • Accessories: fold the mirrors, lower the aerial, and remove the roof rack and any loose add-ons.
  • Keys: hand over one working key, and disable the alarm or explain how to switch it off.

On the carrier comes protection of another kind. On request we cover the mirrors and headlamps with foam guards on the open carrier, place chocks between the wheels and the deck, and recheck the straps at every stop. The box of the enclosed carrier is locked and sealed in Madinah and is not opened before Qatar except for customs examination.

Exporting the car through the Madinah traffic department

A car registered in Saudi Arabia does not leave for good on its plates as they are. It must be dropped from its owner’s record and issued an export certificate, and that is done at the traffic department. An owner in Madinah completes it at the regional traffic department before loading day. As applied, the traffic department requires all fines to be paid and the registration to be valid; then the plates and registration are handed in and the export certificate is issued, and temporary export plates may be supplied. Some steps are done online through the Absher platform and some need a visit, and the details change, so we confirm what is in force before you start.

  1. Pay the traffic fines recorded against the car and against your record.
  2. Make sure the registration is valid, and renew it if it has expired.
  3. If the car is financed, obtain from the bank or finance company a clearance letter or a no-objection to export, and have the lien lifted from the registration.
  4. Submit the export request to the traffic department, and hand in the plates and registration when asked.
  5. Receive the export certificate, and send us a copy of it with a copy of your ID or residence permit.
  6. We prepare the customs export declaration and submit it before the carrier reaches Salwa.

Anyone travelling before the procedure is complete appoints a relative or friend under a notarised power of attorney that covers export. A new car not yet registered needs no plates dropped, so it leaves with the showroom invoice and its customs card. Traffic-department fees are paid directly to the authority and are not part of the transport charge. A wider view of exporting cars from the Kingdom is in the car shipping from Saudi Arabia article.

The Salwa crossing and Qatari customs: documents and duties

The car goes through two procedures in a row: export at Salwa, then import at Abu Samra. The crossing is more than 1,300 km from Madinah, so a missing paper there means a carrier standing still with every car on it. That is why we match the chassis number in every document against the number stamped on the car while we are still in Madinah, and send the file to the clearing agent before the carrier sets off. The crossing formalities are ours to handle, and you do not need to attend at the border.

Document Who issues it Why it is required
Export certificate Saudi traffic department Proves the car was dropped from its owner’s record and may leave
Registration or customs card Traffic department or customs Proves ownership, specification and chassis number
Owner’s ID or residence permit and passport The owner To match the name across all papers
Consignee’s residence permit or Qatari ID The consignee in Qatar The car is registered in their name after release
Purchase invoice or sale contract The showroom or the seller The customs value is assessed on it
Finance company letter The bank or finance company For a car under a lien only
Authorisation or power of attorney The owner If not present, so that we clear in their name

On the Qatari side there are rules you must know before you pay for transport. We set them out here as they are applied, and review what is in force for your particular car before shipping:

Rule As applied What it means for you
Age of the car Light vehicles up to 5 years from the year of manufacture, heavy ones up to 10 years An older car is not registered permanently, so do not ship it before checking
Customs duty 5% of the value assessed by customs, which includes the freight charge and insurance As applied, not repeated if proven to have been paid in the Gulf already
Steering side Left-hand drive is a condition for registration and road use Saudi-market cars comply
Technical inspection A test at the Fahes centres before registration Repair visible faults before shipping
Insurance A valid Qatari insurance policy before plates are issued Bought after customs release
Registration With the General Directorate of Traffic, many of whose services run through the Metrash app The consignee needs a valid Qatari ID card

For what each paper in the car’s file must show, see required documents; for how the two border procedures run, see customs clearance.

Temporary entry on your Saudi plates, or permanent export?

Not everyone who takes a car to Qatar needs to export it. A visitor who spends some weeks and then returns enters with the car on its Saudi plates as a temporary entry, buys Qatari insurance at the border, and the car stays registered in their name in the Kingdom. The permitted stay for a Gulf-registered vehicle is limited and changes, so we confirm what is in force before travel. A resident who will work in Qatar for years, however, eventually needs Qatari plates, and that comes only through permanent export from Saudi Arabia.

Item Temporary entry Permanent export
For whom The visitor, the tourist and someone on a short assignment Someone relocating, a seller and a dealer
Plates Stay Saudi Dropped, then Qatari plates are issued
Owner present at the border Required, or a notarised authorisation for whoever drives it Not required; the shipping file is enough
Qatari customs No duty, as the entry is temporary Customs release, then registration
Is it shipped on a carrier? Possible, with its owner taking it over at or after the border Yes, that is the norm

A visitor may choose shipping even without exporting the car: they fly with the family from Madinah to Doha in two and a quarter hours, and the car follows on the carrier. In that case we agree the way of crossing with them in advance, because a car entering on its plates without its owner needs an arrangement settled with the clearing agent. Anyone driving on to a country outside the Gulf should see the carnet de passages (triptik) page.

Insuring the car in transit from Madinah to Qatar

Your Saudi motor policy covers the car while it runs on its own wheels; it mostly does not cover it while carried on a transporter or after its plates are dropped. So the car travels with us under cover specific to transport. The basic level is carrier’s liability, with a ceiling written in the contract. The comprehensive level is optional, calculated on the value you declare, and covers accident, fire, overturning and theft from the moment of collection to the moment of handover.

The basis of any compensation is the condition report. We write it with you at collection in Madinah: every scratch, every dent and every broken part, with photos and the odometer reading. At delivery in Qatar you walk round the car with the driver, report in hand. Anything not in the report that you find on the car, you write on the delivery note before you sign, not after the driver has left. The cover terms are on the cargo insurance page.

Delivering cars from Madinah in Al Khor, Al Rayyan and the rest of Qatar

Delivering cars from Madinah in Al Khor and Al Rayyan

After Abu Samra the cars are unloaded at a yard near Doha, then each car takes a flatbed to its owner’s address. Al Rayyan adjoins Doha on the west and is the first place a carrier coming from the border reaches on Salwa Road. Al Khor is in the north-east, about 50 km from Doha, and many who work at Ras Laffan live there. Delivery takes place on the day of arrival or the next day, with an on-site inspection in front of the consignee.

City or municipality Main areas Approximate distance from Abu Samra Delivery
Al Rayyan Al Gharrafa, Muaither, Ain Khaled, Al Waab About 90 km Day of arrival
Doha West Bay, Al Sadd, The Pearl, Al Mansoura About 100 km Day of arrival
Al Wakrah Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Mesaieed About 100 km Day of arrival or the next
Al Khor Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Ras Laffan About 150 km Usually the next day
Al Shamal Madinat ash Shamal, Ar Ruwais About 200 km The next day
Al Daayen and Umm Salal Lusail, Al Kheesa, Al Kharaitiyat 110–120 km Day of arrival or the next

The towers of The Pearl, Lusail and West Bay mostly do not admit a flatbed to their basement car parks, so we unload the car at the building entrance and the consignee drives it to the parking space. If the car still has no Qatari plates it is not driven on the street; it is handed over within the property boundary or taken to the inspection centre by flatbed. Destination information is on the shipping to Qatar page.

Drive your car to Qatar yourself, or ship it?

The question keeps coming up, and the answer depends on the reason for the trip. 1,430 km means about 15 hours of pure driving, that is two days with a night in Riyadh or Al-Ahsa, then the queue at the border. Someone travelling for leisure with time to spare may enjoy the road. Someone relocating with a family and children, or who has sold the car to a buyer in Doha, finds the road a burden with no benefit.

Point of comparison Driving it yourself Shipping on a carrier
Time required of you Two days on the road with an overnight stop An hour to hand over and an hour to receive
Cost Fuel, a night’s stay and meals, then a return ticket if you come back without the car The transport charge, from SAR 2,020
Odometer and wear Gains 1,430 km, with wear on tyres and oil Changes only by metres
Road risks Fatigue, stray camels at night and flying grit Borne by the carrier within its cover
Border formalities You do them yourself and wait your turn Our clearing agent does them
The car after its plates are dropped Not driven except on valid export plates No issue, as it is carried
Best for A short visit, returning with the car Relocation, sale and a valuable car

Shipping cars for companies, official bodies and showrooms from Madinah to Qatar

A company moving a small fleet to its Doha branch, a showroom that has sold five cars to a Qatari client, and a body sending vehicles to an event need something other than what an individual needs. What they require is a fixed arrival date, one file for all the cars, a tax invoice, and one person to call.

  • A booked carrier: once the number reaches five cars or more, we assign a carrier that moves on the required day with no waiting.
  • A single file: a schedule of chassis numbers and values, and one export declaration for the group.
  • Official bodies’ cars: they travel with letters from the owning body, and we arrange the crossing time in advance with the clearing agent.
  • Show and event cars: they enter temporarily and return after the event, so we arrange the outward and return legs in one contract.
  • Reports: a photographed collection report and delivery report for each car, sent to the company’s contact.

What organisations need for shipping other than cars is on the commercial shipping page.

Is there sea freight for cars from Madinah to Qatar?

In theory yes; in practice we do not resort to it. The nearest port to Madinah is Yanbu, about 220 km away, and after it Jeddah at about 420 km, both on the Red Sea. A ship leaving from there sails round the whole Arabian Peninsula, from Bab al-Mandab to the Arabian Sea and then the Strait of Hormuz, to reach Hamad Port. A voyage like that takes weeks, while the road carrier arrives in days and at a lower cost. So road is the basis for Madinah cars bound for Qatar, and sea is kept for destinations no road reaches. Moving cars by sea is explained on the RoRo car shipping page.

Air freight for cars from Madinah to Qatar

Air freight for cars from Madinah to Qatar

Air freight for a car is a special service for a few cases: a luxury car its owner wants in Doha within days, a show car with an opening date that cannot slip, or a race car before an event. Between Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and Hamad International Airport there are direct flights of about two and a quarter hours. But carrying a car depends on the aircraft type and the size of its cargo door. If a suitable aircraft is available the car leaves from Madinah airport; if not, we move it by enclosed flatbed to King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and it flies from there.

  • For whom: luxury, sports and urgent cars, and anything whose value justifies the cost of flying.
  • Preparation: a near-empty tank, a disconnected or secured battery, and a leak check, in line with the airline’s requirements for vehicles.
  • Loading: the car is secured on a metal air pallet with its wheels strapped, then lifted into the aircraft.
  • Paperwork: the same documents required by road, cleared at the customs of the two airports instead of the land crossing.
  • Delivery: we collect it from the cargo area at Hamad airport and take it by flatbed to your address in Doha.
  • Price: set on request, because it follows the car’s weight and dimensions, the aircraft type and the flight date.

For most cars road remains the better fit, by a wide margin in cost and a few days’ difference in time. General details are on the air freight page.

Collecting the car from Madinah’s districts and governorates

The collection flatbed reaches any district of Madinah: Aziziyah, Difa and King Fahd in the west, Salam and Aqool, Quba and Awali in the south, and Khalidiyah and Shuran. In districts with narrow streets we send a short flatbed. What we collect from the region’s governorates is moved to the loading yard to join the same carrier.

Collection point Distance from Madinah How we collect
Residential districts of Madinah Within the city A flatbed at the front of the house at the agreed time
Car showrooms and dealerships Within the city Collection with the showroom’s representative and the car’s invoice
Hotels and the central area City centre A small flatbed in the permitted hours
Al-Hanakiyah About 110 km On the Qassim road, so it is loaded as the carrier passes
Badr About 150 km A flatbed before departure day
Khaybar About 170 km A flatbed before departure day
Yanbu About 220 km A flatbed a day or two before departure
Al-Ula and Mahd adh-Dhahab More than 250 km By prior arrangement, with the flatbed charge set on request

If the car is ready before the carrier’s date, or its owner travels before the export certificate is issued, it stays in a walled and monitored yard until loading day. Collection and delivery at the address are explained on the door to door page.

Tracking the car on the road until delivery in Qatar

A car owner does not just want a map; they want to know where the car is now and when to be ready to receive it. So we send you an update at every stage that matters: the car loaded on the carrier, with a photo, leaving Madinah, passing Riyadh, arriving at Salwa, release at Abu Samra, then the delivery time to the hour. You can also follow by shipment number on the shipment tracking page.

Shipping cars from Qatar to Madinah

The route works in both directions. A Saudi returning from work in Doha, a resident moving to Madinah, and someone who bought a car in Qatar all ship on the same carriers as they head back. We collect the car from Doha, Al Rayyan or Al Khor once its owner has obtained the export certificate from the Qatari traffic department; it crosses Abu Samra and then Salwa, and is delivered in Madinah or its governorates.

Importing into Saudi Arabia has its conditions. As applied, a used light vehicle is not imported if it is more than 5 years old, and it must conform to Saudi specifications and be free of major accident or flood damage. Duties and tax are collected according to what is in force unless shown to have been paid before. These conditions are updated, so we confirm them for you before you buy or ship. For those shipping from other cities there is the car shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Qatar article.

Tips before shipping your car from Madinah to Qatar

  • Check your car’s year of manufacture against Qatar’s age condition before any other step.
  • Ask the bank for the liability letter early; issuing it can take days.
  • Do not drop the plates before the carrier’s date is confirmed, or the car may sit without plates for weeks.
  • Keep the car’s photos on your phone and in your email, and do not rely on the driver’s copy alone.
  • Write the consignee’s name in Qatar exactly as it appears on their ID card, letter for letter.
  • If your car is lowered or modified, tell us its ground clearance before the carrier is chosen.
  • Fix oil leaks and failed lamps in Madinah; the Qatari technical inspection picks them up.
  • Do not transfer a car’s price to a seller whose car you have not inspected; if you wish, we inspect it for you before purchase.

How do you choose a car shipping company from Madinah to Qatar?

The difference between one carrier and another does not show in the written price; it shows in what happens when a paper is held up or a car is scratched. Ask specific questions before you hand over the key, and watch how they are answered.

Commercial registration A registration number that is given to you and can be verified A mobile number only, with no business name

Common mistakes when shipping cars from Madinah to Qatar

  • Shipping a car past the age condition in the hope it will be accepted, then bringing it back from Abu Samra for a second charge.
  • Leaving suitcases in the boot, thinking they will cross with the car.
  • Handing over a dirty car, so its scratches do not show in the condition report.
  • Forgetting an old fine that surfaces when the export is requested.
  • Choosing the cheapest price without asking about the carrier type and who handles clearance.
  • Signing for the car in Qatar before walking round it and checking the odometer.
  • Giving a general address such as “Doha” without the zone, street and building numbers.

Frequently asked questions about shipping cars from Madinah to Qatar

How much does it cost to ship a car from Madinah to Qatar?

It starts from SAR 2,020 for a saloon on a shared open carrier, from SAR 2,570 for a 4×4 or a large family car, and from SAR 3,860 in an enclosed carrier for a luxury or classic car. A motorcycle, a dedicated flatbed and air freight are priced on request once we know the vehicle type and the delivery address in Qatar. For enquiries call 0552803439.

How long does a car take to get from Madinah to Doha?

An open or enclosed carrier delivers the car in 4 to 6 days, counted from collecting it at your door in Madinah until it is inspected in Qatar. A dedicated flatbed carrying only your car usually cuts that to 3 or 4 days, because it does not wait for a load to fill.

How far is Madinah from Doha?

About 1,430 km by road. The carrier covers roughly 850 km from Madinah to Riyadh by way of Qassim, then 480 km to the Salwa crossing through Al-Ahsa, and after Abu Samra about 100 km remain to Doha.

Which crossing does the car enter Qatar through?

From the Salwa post on the Saudi side to the Abu Samra post on the Qatari side. It is the only land crossing between the two countries, so every car carrier leaving Madinah passes through it, whatever its type.

What documents are needed to ship the car?

A valid vehicle registration, the owner’s ID or residence permit and passport, the export certificate issued by the traffic department once fines are settled, a no-objection letter from the finance company if the car is under a lien, and the consignee’s details in Qatar. A new car travels with the showroom invoice and its customs card.

Does Qatar accept older used cars?

As applied, a light vehicle is not admitted for permanent registration if more than 5 years have passed since its year of manufacture, and the limit for a heavy vehicle is 10 years. Because the condition may change or carry exceptions, we check what is in force for your car before we load it in Madinah.

Will I pay customs duty on my car in Qatar?

The unified Gulf duty is 5% of the value assessed by Qatari customs. As applied, a car whose duty was already paid in a Gulf state, with documents to prove it, is not charged the duty a second time. We review your car’s position with the clearing agent before shipping.

Do you ship motorcycles from Madinah to Qatar?

Yes. The motorcycle is loaded upright on a stand that grips its front wheel, strapped from four sides, and travels in an enclosed carrier or alongside its owner’s car on the same trip. Its price is set on request according to its size and the number of motorcycles.

Can I leave personal belongings inside the car?

We advise against it. The car is declared at both border posts as a vehicle only, and any suitcase or carton inside it brings an inspection and holds up the whole carrier. Whatever belongings you want to send, we ship for you as a separate consignment on the same route.

Do you ship a car that does not run?

Yes, provided you tell us its condition when you book. A non-running car is winched onto the flatbed and then onto the carrier, and takes longer to load and unload, which is why its price is set on request.

Is there air freight for cars from Madinah to Qatar?

Yes, for luxury and urgent cars. The car leaves Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport if an aircraft that suits its dimensions is available, otherwise King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, and is delivered in Doha. The price is set on request because it follows the car’s weight and dimensions and the aircraft type.

Is it better to drive my car to Qatar or ship it?

If your trip is short and you will return with the car, driving is workable. But if you are relocating or selling, or the car is luxury or new, shipping is safer: the odometer does not gain 1,430 km, you do not queue at the border, and the car reaches you with a photographed condition report.

Is the car insured during transport?

Yes. The car travels under basic carrier cover, and comprehensive insurance on its declared value can be added. The photographed condition report we sign with you at collection in Madinah is the reference for any claim at delivery in Qatar.

Do you collect the car straight from the showroom?

Yes. We send a flatbed to the showroom in Madinah, take the car with its invoice and customs card, photograph it in front of the showroom’s representative, then move it to the loading yard to board the carrier bound for Qatar.

How do I book my car shipment?

Call or WhatsApp us on 0552803439 from 7 am to 11 pm, and send the car’s make, year of manufacture, a photo of its registration and the delivery address in Qatar. We reply with the price and the date, then set the collection day from your home or the showroom.
