Who ships from Mecca to Bahrain, and what do they ship?
The route between Makkah and Bahrain is a route of pilgrimage before it is a route of trade. Bahrainis come for Umrah all year round and go home with more than they brought, Makkah residents move to work in Manama, and Bahraini families have homes and relatives in the western region. With them come traders who buy from Makkah’s markets what sells in Bahrain’s seasons. Knowing where your shipment sits among these types is the first thing that sets the method and the price:
| Shipper | What they ship | Most suitable method |
|---|---|---|
| The Bahraini Umrah or Hajj pilgrim | Suitcases, gifts and luggage over the airline allowance | By the suitcase or carton by land, or by air when urgent |
| A family moving to Bahrain | A whole home’s furniture and appliances | Full truck with dismantling and assembly |
| An employee relocating | A bedroom, cartons and personal belongings | Shared load |
| Someone sending to relatives | Parcels, gifts and small appliances | Door-to-door parcels |
| The trader | Prayer rugs, prayer beads, dates, perfumes and clothing | By the cubic metre or by the truck, with an invoice and certificate of origin |
| The car owner | An ordinary or luxury car | Shared or enclosed carrier |
Route and transit time from Mecca to Bahrain
The truck crosses the Kingdom from west to east. It climbs from Makkah to Taif, then takes the Riyadh motorway for about 870 km. From Riyadh it continues east to Dammam and Khobar, about 420 km, then enters the King Fahd Causeway, which is 25 km long. Halfway along the causeway is an island holding customs and passport control for both countries, so the truck does not stop at two distant border posts as on the other Gulf frontiers. The driving alone takes 13 to 15 hours, so it is split over two days with the driver’s statutory rest.
| Stage | Approximate distance | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Makkah → Riyadh | About 870 km via Taif | The longest stage; shipments from Jeddah and Taif are added to it |
| Riyadh → Khobar | About 420 km via Dammam | In a shared load the truck may be changed in Riyadh |
| King Fahd Causeway | 25 km | Saudi export, then Bahraini import, on the middle island |
| After the causeway | Under an hour to the farthest address | Distribution to addresses in the four governorates |
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck | 3–4 days | A whole home’s furniture, and goods |
| Shared load | 5–7 days | One or two rooms, and a few pallets |
| Car carrier | 4–6 days | Cars |
| Parcels and suitcases by land | 5–7 days | Gifts and pilgrims’ luggage |
| Air via Jeddah airport | One to 3 days | Documents and urgent parcels |
The first day goes in Makkah itself: survey, dismantling, packing and loading in the permitted hour. The next two days are for the road, and the fourth for the causeway and delivery. Anyone who promises a whole home’s furniture from Makkah to Manama in a single day is promising what the distance does not allow.
What lengthens the time?
- Hajj and Ramadan: in both seasons the hours open to trucks entering Makkah shrink, and anyone who has not booked early waits their turn to load.
- Waiting for consolidation: a shared load from Makkah is added to the Jeddah trips and waits for the truck to fill.
- Congestion on the causeway: weekends and holidays lengthen the truck queues, and there is no other land route into Bahrain.
- A vague list of contents: “personal items” with no detail brings a manual inspection.
- A home on a hillside: shuttling items by small vehicle to the truck adds hours to loading day.
Shipping prices from Mecca to Bahrain
On this route the price is made by the distance first, then by the space your shipment takes in the truck. A parcel is charged by its weight, furniture by its volume, and a car by its type and the type of carrier. Someone shipping one room does not pay for a whole truck; they pay for their space in a shared load. These are the starting prices of our services from your door in Makkah to the consignee’s door in Bahrain:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Door-to-door land freight | SAR 41 |
| Carton | Land freight | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase | Land freight | SAR 230 |
| Per kilogram for quantities | Land freight | SAR 4.6 per kilogram |
| Electrical appliance | Shared load | SAR 165 |
| Cubic metre or pallet | Shared load | SAR 550 |
| Bedroom | Shared load | SAR 1,100 |
| A small flat’s furniture | Shared load or small truck | SAR 2,300 |
| A whole home’s furniture | Truck | SAR 3,220 |
| A villa’s furniture | Full truck | SAR 5,300 |
| Small car | Shared carrier | SAR 1,010 |
| 4×4 | Shared carrier | SAR 1,470 |
| Luxury car | Enclosed carrier | SAR 3,220 |
| Air freight | Via Jeddah airport | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Documents | Express | SAR 83 |
Prices quoted in the market for this route are higher than that on most lines: small parcels between SAR 100 and 400, medium commercial goods between SAR 800 and 2,000, furniture shipping between SAR 1,800 and 4,500, and a car between SAR 5,500 and 8,000. Even from Riyadh, which is about 870 km closer to the causeway, figures in circulation include SAR 150 to 250 for a parcel up to 20 kg, SAR 1,800 to 2,500 for a bedroom, and SAR 1,200 to 1,800 for a car on an open carrier. So use the table as a point of comparison for any offer you receive, and always ask what the figure includes.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Volume | Governs furniture and goods. Work it out with the CBM calculator |
| Weight | Governs parcels, suitcases and air freight |
| Type of shipment | Glass and appliances need more packing than clothing and rugs |
| Full truck or shared | Full is faster and dearer; in a shared load you pay for your space only |
| Where the home is in Makkah | A narrow or steep street needs a small vehicle and more labour |
| Dismantling, packing and assembly | Items stated in the offer, not added after it |
| Season | Ramadan, Hajj and summer see higher demand |
How do you cut the cost?
- Choose a shared load if your date is not pressing.
- Combine your gifts and cartons in one shipment; the per-kilogram rate for quantities is cheaper than the single-parcel rate.
- Do not ship what costs less in Bahrain than the fare to move it 1,320 km.
- Book two weeks before Ramadan and Hajj, or choose a date outside them.
- Photograph every piece and carton before you ask for a price; the more exact the volume estimate, the less chance the figure changes on loading day.
Land freight from Mecca to Bahrain: advantages and transit time
Land is the main method on this route. The closed truck is loaded at your door and unloaded at the consignee’s door, with no port or airport in between, and its box shields the load from the sun and dust of Najd. Its cost per kilogram is under a third of the cost of air, so it is the choice for every heavy or bulky shipment. Its time is 3 to 7 days, and the gap between the two limits is made by your choice between a truck of your own and a space in a shared truck:
| Comparison | Shared load | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Your shipment’s space only | The whole truck |
| Time | 5–7 days | 3–4 days |
| Departure | Once the truck is full | On loading day |
| Handling | May be moved between two trucks in Jeddah or Riyadh | Loaded once and unloaded once |
| Best for | Up to about three rooms, cartons and pallets | A whole home or a large quantity of goods |
The practical rule: fewer than three rooms is covered by a shared load, which saves more than half the cost; above that, a full truck becomes safer and faster. You can set the collection day in Makkah and the delivery point in Bahrain when you book. Details are on the land freight page.
What you need to know about shipping from Mecca specifically
Makkah is not like the Kingdom’s other cities when it comes to loading. It has no airport and no port, its large trucks enter in hours set by the regulating authorities, and many of its homes sit on slopes that only a small vehicle can reach. A company that does not allow for these things gives you an appointment and then apologises for it on the morning of loading day. This is what we arrange before we confirm your date:
| Particular | Its effect on your shipment | How we deal with it |
|---|---|---|
| Truck entry hours | Loading cannot happen at any time | We fix the permitted hour in advance and have the packing ready before it |
| Hillside districts and narrow streets | The large truck cannot reach the door | A small vehicle shuttles the items to the truck at the nearest wide street |
| Ramadan and Hajj | Tighter limits on entry and parking | We load before the season, or store the shipment until after it |
| No airport in Makkah | An air shipment does not fly from it | We carry it to King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah the same day |
| Hotel accommodation | No room for lengthy packing in the room | We collect suitcases and cartons ready from reception against a receipt |
Furniture and household shipping from Mecca to Bahrain

Makkah’s furniture leaves dry air, crosses Najd for two days, then enters the humidity of the Gulf coast in Bahrain. Chipboard, leather and mattresses are affected by this change if they arrive uncovered or lightly wrapped. So we wrap every piece in a layer that seals out moisture before a layer that absorbs shock, and we dismantle and pack in your home, not in the warehouse.
- Survey: by photos or at the home, to estimate the volume and find out whether the truck can reach the door.
- Dismantling: bedrooms, wardrobes and desks are taken apart and their parts numbered, with their screws in bags taped to them.
- Packing: tight stretch film that keeps out moisture and dust, with corrugated cardboard over it for wood, and foam and corner guards for glass and marble.
- Household appliances: a day before loading, the fridge and washing machine are unplugged, drained and left to dry. No transformer is needed in Bahrain: the current there is 230 volts and the sockets are the type used in the Kingdom.
- Air conditioners: the gas is first pumped down and held in the outdoor unit, then both units are taken down and each gets its own wrapping.
- Inventory: a numbered list of every carton and piece, which is what is presented to customs on the causeway.
- Loading: heavy items at the bottom, with straps and dividers that stop the pieces rubbing all the way.
- Assembly: our team in Bahrain unloads, assembles, puts every piece in its place and removes the packing waste.
Whether your shipment is a complete office, a bedroom or a large home’s furniture, the sequence is the same and the difference is in the size of the truck. Service details are on the furniture shipping page, and packing methods in the packing guide.
Shipping parcels and gifts from Mecca to Bahrain

Most of what leaves Makkah for Bahrain is not furniture but gifts: prayer rugs, dates, prayer beads, copies of the Quran, abayas and Ihram clothing. These are small shipments that do not justify a truck, so they travel door to door on the weekly trips. The charging changes with their size: the small by the parcel, the medium by the carton, and the many by the kilogram or the cubic metre.
| Shipment | How it is charged | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | By the parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 41 | Beads, Quran copies, small perfumes and light gifts |
| Carton | By the carton | SAR 140 | Double-walled, and no more than 30 kg |
| Rugs and blankets | By the carton or the roll | SAR 140 | Wrapped in stretch film so that moisture does not reach them |
| Dates | By the carton or the kilogram | SAR 4.6 per kilogram for quantities | In their sealed boxes, away from perfumes |
| Many cartons | By the cubic metre | SAR 550 | The most economical for anyone with more than four cartons |
Write the consignee’s name, Bahraini number and address on every parcel, and put a slip with the same details inside it. Zamzam water, cash and gold do not go in parcels. Delivery is at the consignee’s door, not at an office they have to go to. Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping the luggage of Bahraini Umrah and Hajj pilgrims
The Bahraini pilgrim arrives with one suitcase and goes home with three. The airline charges for every excess kilogram, and anyone travelling by road in their own car finds no room for it. The answer is for the luggage to travel on its own: we collect it from the hotel or residence before you leave, and it reaches your home in Bahrain a few days after you.
- Suitcase: from SAR 230, wrapped in stretch film, numbered and locked.
- Carton: from SAR 140, and we supply double-walled cartons for anyone who has none.
- Groups and tour operators: the group’s luggage is combined in one shipment and charged by the kilogram from SAR 4.6.
- Collection from the hotel: you need not wait in the room; hand the bags to the hotel front desk labelled with your name and mobile number, and our driver signs the receipt there.
- Timing: hand over your luggage a day before you travel, so that you are in Bahrain when it arrives.
- What stays with you: passport, cash, medicines and the Zamzam pack made for travellers.
Shipping electronics and sensitive equipment
Equipment is damaged by vibration before impact. Two days on the road are enough to loosen a screw or crack a screen if the item is not secured inside its carton. So we treat each device according to its type, and suggest air for what is small, valuable and cannot wait.
- Screens: in their original carton or a padded wooden crate, carried upright with nothing placed on top.
- Phones and computers: in their boxes inside a second padded carton, with new ones declared by invoice.
- Household appliances: from SAR 165 per appliance in a shared load, in foam and reinforced cardboard.
- Medical and laboratory equipment: a padded wooden crate, secured separately inside the truck.
- Insurance: the device is photographed while working, and its value is declared and insured.
- Before shipping: back up your data, and remove loose batteries.
Shipping commercial and industrial goods from Mecca to Bahrain
The trader in Manama and Muharraq buys from Makkah what is in demand before Ramadan and Hajj: prayer rugs, prayer beads, Ihram clothing, dates, perfumes and incense. Alongside these come hotel and restaurant supplies and materials made by the western region’s factories. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are in one customs union, so goods of Saudi origin cross the causeway free of duty with a valid certificate of origin.
- Units: by the pallet or cubic metre from SAR 550 in a shared load, and by the truck for quantities.
- Sorting: foodstuffs are kept apart from perfumes and industrial materials, and each line is numbered so it is easy to unload at the warehouse.
- Certificate of origin: for Saudi and Gulf goods; it is what exempts them from duty.
- Foreign goods: carry the unified Gulf duty of 5% if it was not paid when they entered the Gulf.
- VAT: 10% in Bahrain on new goods, collected on import.
- Dates and foodstuffs: with a clear label and expiry date.
- Regular supply: fixed weekly trips for those who ship routinely, and an urgent truck when needed.
Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Mecca to Bahrain
Driving a car 1,320 km takes two days of its owner’s time and adds to its odometer. The carrier takes the car from your door in Makkah or from the showroom and hands it over in Bahrain as it left. The choice between an open and an enclosed carrier follows the car’s value, not the distance:
| Car and carrier | How it works | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Small car on a shared carrier | Carries several cars and leaves once full | SAR 1,010 |
| 4×4 on a shared carrier | More room and more weight | SAR 1,470 |
| Luxury or classic car in an enclosed carrier | A closed box that protects from dust and stones | SAR 3,220 |
- Final export: it begins with settling any traffic fines; the traffic department then issues the export certificate and the plates are handed in.
- A financed car: needs a no-objection letter from the finance provider before export.
- Age condition: Bahrain used to refuse cars more than 5 years past their year of manufacture, and an extension of the limit to 10 years has since been approved. We therefore check which rule covers your model before it is loaded.
- Customs duty: 5% of the car’s value if its duty has not been paid in the Gulf before.
- A temporary visit: a car entering with its owner on its Saudi plates is not exported; insurance valid in Bahrain is enough for it.
- Before loading: a car empty of belongings, a quarter tank of fuel, and photos from every side.
Details are on the car shipping page.
Customs clearance on the King Fahd Causeway and the documents required
On the King Fahd Causeway the truck does not move between two border posts; Saudi export and Bahraini import are completed back to back on the middle island. What decides how long it stands there is the file: a truck whose declaration got there first crosses in about an hour, while one with papers missing may spend the night on the causeway. That is why we lodge your shipment’s declaration electronically while the truck is still on the road from Makkah, on the Fasah platform on the Saudi side and the OFOQ system on the Bahraini side.
| Type of shipment | Charges in Bahrain | Documents |
|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings | Exempt for someone moving to live there | ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Bahraini ID card or residence permit, and a detailed list of contents |
| Personal suitcases and gifts | Exempt within the limits of personal use | A description of the contents and their value, and the consignee’s address and number |
| Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin | No customs duty, with 10% VAT on new goods | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration |
| Foreign goods | 5% if not paid before, plus VAT | Invoice, packing list, and proof that the duty was paid |
| Car | 5% if not paid before | Registration, export certificate and the owner’s ID |
You do not have to be there on crossing day; an electronic authorisation for the clearing agent, issued before you travel, stands in for you. If you hold a letter of work transfer or residence, attach it: it eases the furniture exemption even though it is not asked for in every case. The paperwork is set out on the shipping documents page, and the steps of the procedure on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to Bahrain, or needs a permit
One shipment containing a prohibited item stops the whole truck on the causeway and delays other people’s shipments with it. So go through this list before you seal the cartons, and ask us about anything you are unsure of:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Zamzam water | Its export is prohibited; not shipped with goods or parcels |
| Drugs and alcohol | Not shipped from the Kingdom |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited or licence only |
| Chemicals and hazardous liquids | With a permit and special packaging |
| Medicines and supplements | Personal quantities with a prescription; commercial with a licence |
| Perfumes and incense in quantity | Declared by type and quantity, and restricted in air freight |
| Loose lithium batteries | Not shipped by air; packed separately by land |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Not shipped with furniture; keep them with you |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Manama and Bahrain’s governorates

Distances in Bahrain are short: its islands are linked by bridges, and from the causeway crossing to the farthest home is under an hour. A shipment from Makkah is therefore delivered on the day it crosses. Our team there carries the furniture up to the flat and assembles it rather than leaving it at the building entrance. Distribution covers the four governorates, along with the industrial areas and the port for those receiving commercial goods:
| Governorate | Main areas | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Capital | Manama, Juffair, Seef, Adliya, Sitra | Towers that need the service lift booked |
| Muharraq | Muharraq, Busaiteen, Arad, Hidd, Amwaj Islands | Home to the airport, Salman Industrial City and Khalifa Bin Salman Port |
| Northern | Hamad Town, Saar, Budaiya, Jasra, A’ali | The areas closest to the King Fahd Causeway |
| Southern | East and West Riffa, Isa Town, Zallaq, Awali | Villas and spacious residential compounds |
Give us the consignee’s address in the Bahraini format, which is three numbers: building number, road number and block number, together with a Bahraini mobile we can call. We also need to know the floor, whether the building has a service lift, and the delivery time the consignee prefers. For more on the destination, see the shipping to Bahrain page.
Shipping for individuals, companies, government bodies and embassies
Every client has something that matters before the price. The individual wants their belongings to arrive intact without effort, the company wants its work not to stall, and the official body wants a documented procedure and privacy. We arrange the shipment according to its owner, not to one template for all:
| Client | What matters to them | What we provide |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Convenience and the safety of their belongings | Dismantling, packing and assembly, with follow-up to the door of the home |
| Pilgrims and tour groups | That luggage does not lag behind its owners | Collection from the hotel, and each suitcase numbered with its owner’s name |
| Companies and establishments | Completion on time | Moving offices, equipment and goods to a set timetable |
| Government bodies | Official procedure and documentation | Official paperwork, approved delivery records and a full inventory |
| Embassies and consulates | Privacy and a precise appointment | Care for documents and sensitive items, and delivery inside the premises |
Is there sea freight from Mecca to Bahrain?
A ship does not shorten this journey; it lengthens it. The container is loaded at Jeddah Islamic Port, the closest port to Makkah at about 80 km, then rounds the entire Arabian Peninsula to reach Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain, which takes two to three weeks. The truck, by contrast, gets there in days and for less. That leaves sea freight here only for heavy commercial cargo whose owner faces no deadline. All the methods are set side by side on the shipping methods comparison page.
Air freight from Mecca to Bahrain

When a shipment cannot bear five days on the road, air becomes the answer. We collect it from your door or hotel in Makkah and carry it to King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah the same day. The flight to Bahrain International Airport is about two hours, and delivery is within one to 3 days including clearance at both airports. We handle the collection, packing, transfer to the airport, clearance and delivery to the address, so the consignee does not go to the airport.
- For whom: the pilgrim who cannot wait for a suitcase, anyone sending papers, an urgent parcel or a small electronic device, and the trader sending samples to a customer.
- Charging: on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Work it out with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
- When land is better: above 30 kilograms land is far cheaper, and its rate starts from SAR 4.6 per kilogram.
- What it does not suit: furniture, large appliances, liquids, perfumes in quantity and loose batteries.
Details are on the air freight page and in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
Collection from Makkah’s districts and nearby towns
The packing crew comes to your address wherever it is in Makkah, from Al-Aziziyah, Ash-Shawqiyah and Al-Awali to An-Naseem, Ash-Sharai and Batha Quraysh, and from Az-Zahir and Ar-Rusayfah to An-Nawwariyah. Collection is not limited to homes: hotels and neighbouring towns are covered, and whatever is picked up there joins the same trip bound for Bahrain:
| Place | Distance from Makkah | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hotels in the central area | Inside Makkah | Suitcases and cartons collected from reception |
| Al-Jumum and Bahrah | 20–40 km | Collected on the same day as Makkah |
| Jeddah | About 80 km | The two shipments are combined in one trip |
| Taif | About 90 km | On the same road, so it is loaded on the way |
Sometimes the shipment is ready before the home in Bahrain is. In that case your belongings stay in our warehouse, still wrapped and with their inventory list, and move only on the day you choose. The terms of the service are on the storage page.
Steps for shipping from Mecca to Bahrain
- Contact: it starts with a message from you carrying three things: photos of the items to be shipped, the pickup point in Makkah, whether a district or a hotel, and the delivery address in Bahrain.
- Survey and price: we set the volume and the method, and the price reaches you itemised: packing, transport, clearance and delivery.
- Booking: once you agree, the loading day is set along with the hour in which the truck is allowed in, and you send us a copy of your ID and of the consignee’s card.
- Packing and loading: at your location, with a numbered list of contents and photos.
- The road: the truck goes via Taif and Riyadh to Khobar, and a message reaches you at each stage.
- Advance declaration: filed electronically before the truck reaches the causeway.
- Crossing and clearance: on the middle island of the King Fahd Causeway.
- Delivery: to the address on the day of crossing, with unloading and assembly if you asked for it.
Tracking and insurance
The road from Makkah to the causeway takes two days, and silence during them is what worries a shipment’s owner. So we do not leave you asking: from loading onwards your shipment is handled by a single employee whose name and number you know, who calls you as the truck leaves Makkah, again as it passes Riyadh, again when it reaches the causeway, and once clearance is done to tell you when it will reach your door. Any likely delay is reported to you before it happens, not afterwards.
- Tracking: by shipment number, with an update at each stage. Details are on the track your shipment page.
- Documentation: photos of every piece before packing and after loading.
- Insurance: not compulsory, and its premium is a percentage of the value you declare yourself. We advise taking it when the shipment is a whole home’s furniture or expensive appliances. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.
- On receipt: check the shipment and note any remark on the delivery record before signing.
Shipping from Bahrain to Mecca
The truck that goes to Bahrain comes back loaded. Our team there collects from your address, clearance is done on the same causeway, and delivery follows in whichever Makkah district you want, within truck entry hours. A Saudi coming home after working in Bahrain pays no duty on used furniture; a list of contents is enough. As for goods, a certificate of origin exempts those of Bahraini origin from duty on entering the Kingdom, bearing in mind that some new products are admitted only with a conformity certificate.
Tips before shipping from Mecca to Bahrain
- Plan your shipment ahead of your travel or moving date, and set out the type and volume of the items accurately.
- Book two weeks before Ramadan and Hajj, or choose a date outside them.
- Tell us if your street is narrow or steep, so we send the right vehicle.
- Choose the method by your priority: time first means air, budget first means land.
- Set aside what you will carry yourself: passports, contracts, gold and medicines.
- Check the measurements of the flat’s door and the lift in Bahrain before shipping a large sofa.
- Keep a copy of the list of contents and the shipment number on your phone.
How do you choose a shipping company from Mecca to Bahrain?
The questions you ask before booking tell you more about a company than its advertising does. Ask about the time, the price, customs and who delivers in Bahrain, and compare the answers with this table:
| What you ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Time | 3 to 7 days depending on the method | “Within 24 hours” for a home’s furniture from Makkah |
| Price | Itemised after learning the weight and volume | An instant figure with no questions, or a big discount with no original price |
| Makkah’s seasons | Asks about your date and allows for Hajj and Ramadan | Promises loading on any day at any hour |
| Customs | Asks: used or new? And what is the origin of the goods? | “No customs and no tax” on everything |
| Delivery | A team in Bahrain that unloads and assembles | Its role ends at the causeway |
| Registration | Saudi commercial registration and a receipt voucher | A mobile number only, with no address or registration |
Common mistakes when shipping from Mecca to Bahrain
- Booking in Hajj week or the last ten days of Ramadan.
- Putting Zamzam water in parcels, so the whole shipment is opened.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Mecca to Bahrain
How much does shipping from Mecca to Bahrain cost?
The lowest price on this route is SAR 41, for a parcel of no more than 5 kg. A carton then starts from SAR 140 and a suitcase from SAR 230. For furniture, a bedroom starts from SAR 1,100, a small flat from SAR 2,300 and a whole home from SAR 3,220, while a car on a carrier starts from SAR 1,010. The final figure depends on your shipment’s volume and where the address is in Bahrain; to enquire, call 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Mecca to Bahrain take?
The time is counted from your door in Makkah to the consignee’s door and varies by method: a full truck takes 3 to 4 days, a shared load 5 to 7 days, and air freight via Jeddah airport one to 3 days.
How far is Mecca from Bahrain?
About 1,320 km by road to Manama: about 870 km from Makkah to Riyadh via Taif, then about 420 km to Khobar, then the King Fahd Causeway, which is 25 km long.
Which crossing does the shipment enter Bahrain through?
Bahrain has no land entry other than the King Fahd Causeway, so every truck coming from Makkah crosses it. Midway along it is a middle island where Saudi and then Bahraini customs formalities are completed.
Is there air freight directly from Mecca?
Not directly, as Makkah has no airport of its own. An air shipment goes by road to Jeddah, takes off from King Abdulaziz Airport and lands at Bahrain International Airport, and reaches its owner within one to 3 days.
Which is cheaper: land freight or air freight?
Land is cheaper for anything above a few kilograms, and its rate for quantities starts from SAR 4.6 per kilogram. Air starts from SAR 14 per kilogram and suits what is urgent and light.
Do you ship the luggage of Bahraini Umrah and Hajj pilgrims?
Yes, whether suitcases or cartons. The owner of the suitcases and cartons is given a receipt at their hotel or residence in Makkah, and they are then delivered to their address in Bahrain.
Can Zamzam water be shipped to Bahrain?
It cannot. Zamzam water is barred from export, so we accept it neither in a parcel nor among furniture. The only way open is for travellers to carry the dedicated travel pack themselves.
Is customs paid on used furniture?
In most cases none is paid. Anyone moving to live in Bahrain has their used furniture and belongings exempted, provided they present a detailed list of contents with a copy of their Bahraini ID card or residence permit.
Is tax paid on gifts and new goods?
A few gifts for personal use usually pass without charges. New commercial quantities carry Bahrain’s 10% VAT, and goods of foreign origin carry 5% duty if it has not been paid before.
Do you ship cars from Mecca to Bahrain?
Yes, on carriers. A shared carrier starts from SAR 1,010 for a small car and from SAR 1,470 for a 4×4, and for luxury cars there is an enclosed carrier starting from SAR 3,220.
What documents are required?
They depend on the shipment. Furniture and luggage require the sender’s ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Bahraini ID card or residence permit, plus a contents list. Commercial goods require an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. A car ships with its registration, its export certificate and its owner’s ID.
Is shipping affected by Hajj season and Ramadan?
Loading is affected, not the road. Trucks enter Makkah only at set hours, and the limits grow tighter in Ramadan and Hajj. We therefore ask that booking be made two weeks before the season, and we load in the permitted hour.
Do you ship for companies, government bodies and embassies?
Yes. These clients get a dedicated truck on a fixed appointment, with a complete file of invoices, letters and a delivery record, and delivery is made inside the client’s premises in Bahrain.
Do you ship from Bahrain to Mecca?
Yes, the service runs the opposite way too. Collection is from your address in Bahrain, and delivery is in the Makkah district you name, within truck entry hours.
