Who ships from Riyadh to Bahrain, and what do they ship?
Bahrain is the closest country to Riyadh by land, and getting there is shorter than getting to Jeddah. So this route sees more of what others see less of: small, frequent shipments. An employee moving between two branches, a family furnishing a flat in Manama, a shop supplying weekly, and a student sending cartons. Each type has a method that suits it:
| Shipper | What they ship | Most suitable method |
|---|---|---|
| A family moving to Bahrain | A full home’s furniture and appliances | Full truck with dismantling and assembly |
| A relocating employee or a newlywed | A bedroom or sitting room and cartons | Shared load |
| Someone sending to family | Cartons, suitcases, gifts and appliances | Parcels by land, door to door |
| A shop or factory | Goods on pallets or a full truck | By the pallet or the truck, with a certificate of origin |
| A car owner | An ordinary or luxury car | Shared or enclosed carrier |
| Companies, official bodies and embassies | Office furniture, equipment and documents | A dedicated truck on a set date |
Route and transit time from Riyadh to Bahrain
There is one road and no alternative: east from Riyadh on the Dammam motorway for about 400 km, then to Khobar where the King Fahd Causeway begins. The causeway runs 25 km over the waters of the Gulf, with an island halfway along that houses passports and customs for both countries. After it the truck enters Bahrain at Al Jasra, with about half an hour left to Manama. The whole drive takes 5 to 6 hours, and the rest goes on loading, clearance and unloading.
| Stage | Approximate distance | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Riyadh → Khobar | About 420 km | Motorway; Dammam and Khobar shipments join here if there are any |
| King Fahd Causeway | 25 km | Saudi export, then Bahraini import, on the middle island |
| Al Jasra → Manama | About 25 km | Distribution to the addresses |
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck | One to two days | A full home’s furniture and goods |
| Shared load | 2–4 days | One or two rooms, and a few pallets |
| Car carrier | One to 3 days | Cars |
| Parcels by land | 2–4 days | Cartons and suitcases |
| Air | The same or next day | Documents and urgent parcels |
Some adverts promise delivery within 12 hours. That is possible for a parcel or a car that is ready, not for a home’s furniture that is dismantled, packed and inventoried and then cleared on the causeway. So always ask: is the time counted from loading or from the order?
What lengthens the time?
- Congestion on the causeway: weekends, Eid and holidays lengthen the truck queues.
- A vague list of contents: “household items” with no detail brings a manual inspection.
- Goods without a certificate of origin: they are treated as foreign and duty is charged.
- Waiting for consolidation: a shared load waits for the truck to fill.
- The building’s permit: towers in Juffair, Seef and Amwaj require the service lift to be booked and a set unloading time.
Shipping prices from Riyadh to Bahrain
The short road makes this the cheapest Gulf route from Riyadh. The price follows three things: how much of the truck your shipment takes, whether you want it to yourself or share it, and which services you ask for at both ends. These are the prices our services start from, from your door in Riyadh to the consignee’s door in Bahrain:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Land freight, door to door | SAR 32 |
| Carton | Land freight | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase or parcels up to 30 kg | Land freight | SAR 230 |
| Large electrical appliance | Shared load | SAR 320 |
| Cubic metre or pallet | Shared load | SAR 415 |
| Bedroom | Shared load | SAR 740 |
| Kitchen with dismantling and assembly | Shared load | SAR 830 |
| Small flat’s furniture | Shared load or small truck | SAR 1,380 |
| Three-room flat’s furniture | Truck | SAR 2,300 |
| Villa’s furniture | Full truck | SAR 3,220 |
| Small car | Shared carrier | SAR 830 |
| 4×4 | Shared carrier | SAR 1,200 |
| Luxury car | Enclosed carrier | SAR 2,020 |
Prices quoted in the market for this route are higher than that on most lines: a carton between SAR 150 and 300, a bedroom between SAR 800 and 1,800, a three-room flat’s furniture between SAR 2,500 and 4,500, and a small car between SAR 900 and 1,500. So use the table as a point of comparison for any offer you receive, and always ask what the figure covers.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Volume | The first factor. Work it out with the volume calculator |
| Full truck or shared | Full is faster and dearer; shared means you pay for your space only |
| Dismantling, packing and assembly | Lines stated in the offer, not added after it |
| Floor and lift | In Riyadh and in Bahrain, and whether a hoist is needed |
| Crossing day | Midweek days are quieter on the causeway than the weekend |
| Season | Summer and the end of the school year see higher demand |
How do you lower the cost?
- Choose a shared load if your date is not pressing.
- Gather your cartons into one shipment instead of sending them in batches.
- Pick a midweek day; the crossing is quicker and the truck does not wait.
- Dismantle what can be dismantled before the crew arrives, or leave it to us and ask for it in the offer.
- Send clear photos of everything you ship; an accurate estimate prevents a price difference on loading day.
How does shipping to Bahrain compare across the Kingdom’s cities?
Where your city sits relative to the causeway is what makes the difference. The Eastern Province is at its door, Riyadh is half a day away, and Jeddah and Makkah are at the other end of the Kingdom. The table shows what to expect from each city:
| City of origin | Approximate distance to Manama | Full-truck time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dammam and Khobar | 50–70 km | The same day | The nearest point and the lowest cost |
| Al-Ahsa | About 200 km | One day | Joins the Eastern Province trips |
| Riyadh | About 480 km | One to two days | Trips almost daily |
| Qassim | About 800 km | Two to 3 days | Via Riyadh or direct |
| Jeddah and Makkah | About 1,400 km | 3–5 days | Crosses the whole Kingdom before the causeway |
Shipping furniture and household goods from Riyadh to Bahrain

The short road tempts some carriers to load furniture as it is. That is what damages most shipments on this route. The furniture is loaded in Riyadh, part of it is opened for inspection on the causeway, and it is then unloaded at a building or villa in Bahrain, where coastal humidity is far higher than Riyadh’s dry air. That is why we pack every piece as if it were going much farther.
- Dismantling: bedrooms, wardrobes and kitchens are dismantled and their parts numbered, with the screws in bags taped to them.
- Packing: blankets then corrugated cardboard for wood, foam and wooden crates for glass and marble, and wrap for sofas and mattresses that protects them from humidity.
- Appliances: the fridge and washing machine are emptied and dried a day before. Bahrain’s supply is 230 volts with the same plugs as the Kingdom, so your appliances work there without an adapter.
- Air conditioners: removed with the gas pumped down into the outdoor unit, and the two units packed separately.
- Inventory: a numbered list of every carton and piece, which is what goes to customs on the causeway.
- Assembly: our crew in Bahrain unloads, assembles and removes the packing waste.
Service details are on the furniture shipping page, and packing methods in the packing guide.
Full truck or shared load?
On a route this short the gap in time between the two options narrows, and the gap in price remains. A full truck moves on your loading day and is at your door the next day. A shared load waits a day or two to fill, then calls at more than one address in Bahrain. Trips to Bahrain are frequent, so the wait for consolidation here is shorter than to any other Gulf destination.
| Comparison | Shared load | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Your shipment’s space only | The whole truck |
| Time | 2–4 days | One to two days |
| Departure | Once the truck is full | On loading day |
| Handling | May be moved between two trucks | Loaded once and unloaded once |
| Best for | Up to about three rooms | A full home or a lot of goods |
Shipping parcels and electronics
Most of what goes from Riyadh to Bahrain is small: a phone or laptop, a carton of clothes, a household appliance bought at a better price. These rarely need air freight, since the truck arrives in a day or two. Three things matter with them: correct weight and size before booking, packing that suits the item, and an address written accurately.
- Parcels: up to 5 kg from SAR 32, delivered to the consignee’s door.
- Cartons: double-wall from SAR 140, none over 30 kg. Splitting a heavy load over two cartons is safer than one that tears.
- Phones and laptops: in their original boxes inside a second padded carton, and new ones are declared with their invoice.
- Screens: in the original carton or a wooden crate, carried upright.
- Household appliances: moving parts are secured, and they are packed in foam and reinforced cardboard, from SAR 320 for a large appliance.
- Label: the consignee’s name, Bahraini number and address on every parcel, not just one.
Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping commercial goods from Riyadh to Bahrain
Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are in one customs union. So goods of Saudi origin cross with no customs duty, provided a valid certificate of origin travels with them. The causeway makes daily supply possible: a truck loaded at a Riyadh factory in the evening is unloaded at a warehouse in Bahrain by noon the next day.
- Units: by the pallet or cubic metre from SAR 415 in a shared load, and by the full truck from SAR 2,300.
- Certificate of origin: for Saudi and Gulf goods, and it is what exempts them from duty.
- Foreign goods: they carry the unified Gulf duty of 5% if it was not paid when they entered the Gulf.
- Value added tax: 10% in Bahrain on new goods, collected at import.
- Electronic clearance: the declaration is filed in advance through the Fasah platform in the Kingdom and the OFOQ system in Bahrain, so the truck arrives with its file ready.
- Online shops: daily collection from the warehouse and distribution to customers’ addresses in Bahrain.
Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Shipping cars from Riyadh to Bahrain
Many people drive their cars to Bahrain themselves. But a carrier is the answer when the car is sold to a buyer there, when it is a luxury car whose owner does not want to add to its odometer, or when the owner is moving by air. The choice between open and enclosed follows the car’s value:
| Car and carrier | How it works | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Small car on a shared carrier | Carries several cars and moves when full | SAR 830 |
| 4×4 on a shared carrier | A wider space and more weight | SAR 1,200 |
| Luxury car in an enclosed carrier | A closed box that protects from dust and stones | SAR 2,020 |
- Final export: paying fines, then the export certificate from the traffic department and surrendering the plates.
- A financed car: needs a no-objection letter from the finance provider before export.
- Age condition: the limit in Bahrain was 5 years from the year of manufacture, and raising it to 10 years has been approved. We confirm what is applied to your car before shipping.
- Customs duty: 5% of the car’s value if its duty has not been paid in the Gulf before.
- An empty car: no personal items are left inside, and the fuel stays at a quarter.
Details are on the car shipping page.
The King Fahd Causeway and Bahraini customs

What sets this crossing apart is that both clearances are in one place. On the middle island the broker completes Saudi export, then moves a few metres to the Bahraini side. Trucks have their own lanes and yards, separate from travellers’ lanes. The crossing is quick when the truck arrives with its file filed in advance, and slow when the file starts from zero at the window. That is why we prepare the documents in Riyadh before the truck moves.
| Type of shipment | Charges in Bahrain | Documents |
|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings | Exempt for someone moving to live there | ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Bahraini ID or residence permit, and a detailed list of contents |
| Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin | No customs duty, with 10% VAT on new items | Invoice, packing list and certificate of origin |
| Foreign goods | 5% if not paid before, plus VAT | Invoice, packing list, and proof that duty was paid |
| Car | 5% if not paid before | Registration, export certificate and owner’s ID |
| Personal parcels | Exempt within personal use | Description and value of the contents, and the consignee’s address and number |
If you are not present on the crossing day, an authorisation for the broker issued electronically before travel is enough. The documents are explained on the required documents page, and the procedures on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to Bahrain or needs a permit
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Drugs and alcohol | Not shipped from the Kingdom |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited or by licence |
| Tobacco in commercial quantities | By licence and excise tax |
| Medicines | Personal quantities with a prescription |
| Loose lithium batteries | Not shipped by air, and packed separately by land |
| Flammables and gas cylinders | Not loaded with furniture |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Not shipped with furniture; keep them with you |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Destinations inside Bahrain

Bahrain is a group of islands joined by bridges, and its farthest address is less than an hour from the causeway. So delivery takes place on the crossing day itself. We deliver in all four governorates:
| Governorate | Main areas | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Capital | Manama, Juffair, Seef, Adliya, Sitra | Towers that need the service lift booked |
| Muharraq | Muharraq, Busaiteen, Hidd, Amwaj Islands, Diyar Al Muharraq | Reached by bridges from Manama |
| Northern | Hamad Town, Saar, Budaiya, Al Jasra, A’ali | The areas nearest the King Fahd Causeway |
| Southern | East and West Riffa, Isa Town, Zallaq, Durrat Al Bahrain | Villas and large residential compounds |
An address in Bahrain is written with three numbers: building, road and block. Send them to us with a Bahraini mobile number, and mention the floor and whether the building has a service lift. Destination details are on the shipping to Bahrain page.
Shipping for individuals, companies and embassies
The shipment looks the same, but what each customer needs from it differs. An individual wants a clear price and assembly at home. A company wants a tax invoice and a date that does not move. An official body wants letters and delivery against a signed record:
| Customer | What matters to them | What we provide |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Safe furniture and a price with no surprises | A photo survey, dismantling, packing and assembly, and an itemised price |
| Companies and shops | The date and the documents | A dedicated truck, tax invoices, and periodic trips under contract |
| Government bodies | Official procedure and records | Letters, a collection and delivery record, and sealed packing for files |
| Embassies and missions | Privacy and diplomatic exemptions | Coordinating exemption documents, and delivery inside the premises |
Is there sea freight from Riyadh to Bahrain?
Riyadh is an inland city, and its nearest port is King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, which is itself less than an hour from the causeway. So a container hauled from Riyadh to Dammam to sail to Khalifa Bin Salman Port can simply stay on the same truck and cross the causeway in hours. That is why we use sea freight on this route only for loads of exceptional weight or dimensions. The full comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Air freight from Riyadh to Bahrain

The flight from King Khalid Airport to Bahrain International Airport is about an hour, and the shipment is delivered the same or next day including clearance at both airports. Because land itself is fast, air here is for what cannot wait a single night: a document to be signed tomorrow, a spare part a production line depends on, or medicine.
- For whom: documents, urgent parcels, spare parts and commercial samples.
- Charging: on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Work it out with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and documents by express from SAR 83.
- When land suits better: above 30 kilograms, land is far cheaper and the difference is one day.
- What it does not suit: furniture, large appliances, liquids and loose batteries.
Details are on the air freight page.
Collection from Riyadh’s districts and nearby towns
We pack and load at your location, in any district of Riyadh: north, east, west and south. We also collect from nearby towns, and their shipments join the Riyadh trip:
| Town | Distance from Riyadh | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Diriyah and Muzahimiyah | Up to 60 km | Collected on the same day as Riyadh |
| Al-Kharj | About 80 km | Collected the day before loading |
| Al-Ahsa | About 330 km | Loaded on the Eastern Province trips |
| Dammam and Khobar | About 400 km | On the same road, loaded before the causeway |
If your home in Bahrain is not ready yet, we store your shipment in our warehouse, packed and inventoried, until you set the date. Details are on the storage page, and in the article international shipping company in Riyadh.

- Tracking: by shipment number, with an update at every stage. Details are on the track your shipment page.
- Record: photos of every item before packing and after loading.
- Insurance: optional, calculated as a percentage of the declared value. Details are on the cargo insurance page.
- On receipt: inspect the shipment and note any remark on the delivery report before signing.
Shipping from Bahrain to Riyadh
The route works in both directions. We collect from the address in Bahrain through our crew there, clear on the causeway, and deliver to any district of Riyadh. A Saudi returning from work in Bahrain brings in his used furniture exempt with a list of contents. Goods of Bahraini origin enter the Kingdom with no duty on a certificate of origin.
Tips before shipping to Bahrain
- Check the parcel’s weight and size before booking; they are the basis of the price.
- Split a heavy shipment over medium cartons instead of one large carton.
- Write the consignee’s name, number and address on every parcel.
- Set aside what you will carry yourself: passports, contracts, gold and medicines.
- Ask the building’s management in Bahrain about permitted unloading hours and booking the lift.
- Book two days before the weekend if you want to cross on a quiet day.
How do you choose a shipping company from Riyadh to Bahrain?
| What you ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Time | One to 4 days depending on the method | “Within 12 hours” for a home’s furniture |
| Price | Itemised lines after knowing the volume | An instant figure with no questions, or a big discount with no original price |
| Customs | Asks: used or new? And what is the origin of the goods? | “No customs and no tax” on everything |
| Packing | Its own crew, and materials for each piece | Loading unpacked “because the road is short” |
| Delivery | A crew in Bahrain that unloads and assembles | Its role ends at the causeway |
| Registration | Commercial registration and a collection receipt | A mobile number only |
Common mistakes when shipping to Bahrain
- Loading furniture unpacked because the road is short.
- Loading it without an inventory, so it is delayed on the causeway.
- Putting new boxed appliances in with used furniture without declaring them.
- Shipping Saudi goods without a certificate of origin, so duty is charged.
- Forgetting the 10% value added tax when costing new goods.
- An address without the building, road and block numbers, or without a Bahraini mobile number.
- Choosing the cheapest figure without asking what it covers.
