Who ships by air from Saudi Arabia to the UAE?
There is daily movement between the two countries that never stops: companies with branches on both sides, families spread between Riyadh and Dubai, and shops selling to customers across the whole Gulf. These people do not turn to the aircraft for every shipment, only for the one that has a date attached. The table shows who asks for the service most, what they send and why they choose the air.
| Sender | What they send | Why the aircraft |
|---|---|---|
| A company with a branch or partner in the UAE | Contracts, original documents, cheques and stamps | A signing, a tender or a licence renewal on a set day |
| A Saudi online shop | Orders for customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi | The customer expects the order in two days, not a week |
| A factory, workshop or contractor | A spare part or a small piece of equipment | A site that has stopped work until the part arrives |
| A family with children or relatives in the UAE | Gifts, dates, clothes and personal medicines | An Eid, a wedding or a new baby |
| A resident who has just moved to the UAE | A suitcase or two with what is needed at once | The furniture is on the truck and the first essentials go ahead of it |
| An Umrah pilgrim or visitor back in the UAE | Purchases that exceeded the ticket allowance | They follow a day or two later |
The advantages of air freight to the UAE, and its limits
The first thing said about the air is that it is fast, and that is true, but it is not the whole story. The route between the Kingdom and the UAE is short to begin with, and the truck on it is not slow. So we set out the advantages and the limits together, so that you pay the aircraft’s charge only when it serves you.
- Speed: what is collected in the morning in Riyadh may be in Dubai the next day.
- Frequent flights: there are several flights every day between the two countries’ airports, so a shipment that misses one catches the next.
- Precise tracking: every stage is recorded against the waybill number with its time.
- First limit: the charge is per kilogram, so heavy and bulky items are costly.
- Second limit: strict restrictions on flammable liquids, batteries and gases.
In short: an envelope, a parcel or a couple of cartons with a near date belong on the aircraft, while ten cartons or a bedroom with no tight date belong on the truck. The general introduction to the service is on the air freight page.
Air freight to the UAE from the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam
The Kingdom is large, and its air shipments do not leave from a single airport. Three airports carry most of what goes to the UAE: King Khalid International in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah and King Fahd International in Dammam. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah is added to them. We choose the airport for you by your city and the nearest flight with space, not by where our office is.

| Departure airport | Serves | Flying time to Dubai | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| King Khalid International, Riyadh | Riyadh, Al Kharj, Qassim, Hail and the centre of the Kingdom | Under two hours | The busiest airport for company shipments and documents |
| King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah | Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Yanbu and Rabigh | About three hours | Luggage of returning Umrah and Hajj pilgrims leaves from here |
| King Fahd International, Dammam | Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Al-Ahsa and Qatif | About an hour and a half | The nearest airport to the UAE; industrial spare parts are what leaves it most |
| Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International, Madinah | Madinah, Yanbu, Al-Ula and Badr | About two and a half hours | Dates and visitors’ luggage, and via Jeddah when there is no suitable flight |
| Cities of the south and north | Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Tabuk and Al-Jouf | Depends on the consolidation airport | The shipment is moved to Jeddah or Riyadh and then flies |
At the airport the shipment is handed to the export warehouse before the flight’s cut-off time. It is weighed on a certified scale, its dimensions are measured, it passes through the X-ray screening machine, and then its export declaration is lodged and its air waybill issued. The cut-off precedes take-off by a number of hours that differs from one carrier to another. That is why we ask for the shipment to be ready before noon if you want it on the evening flight.
Moving the shipment from a distant city to the consolidation airport usually adds a day, and its cost is set on request. Our air services from the capital are explained in the article air freight company in Riyadh, and from the western region in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
Air freight transit time from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
The flight itself is counted in minutes: an hour and a half from Dammam, under two hours from Riyadh and about three hours from Jeddah. The real time goes before take-off and after landing, on collection, preparation, release and distribution. When these links are arranged well, a single day becomes possible between Riyadh and Dubai.
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection from the sender | Checking the contents, a first weighing and packing if needed | Hours from the request in the main cities |
| Export warehouse at the Saudi airport | Weighing, measuring, security screening, export declaration and waybill | Half a day to a day |
| The flight | Direct to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah according to the schedule in force | 1.5–3 hours |
| The UAE airport | Unloading, import declaration, payment of what is due and release | Hours to a day |
| Delivery | A distribution van to the address within the emirate or to a neighbouring emirate | The same day or the next |
Direct flights between the four airports and the UAE airports operate daily according to the carriers’ schedules, and those schedules change from one season to another. So we book on what is running on the day of your shipment and tell you the flight number before payment. Times for the other destinations are on the transit times page.
What lengthens the transit time?
- Late hand-over to the airport: a shipment reaching the warehouse after the flight has closed waits for the next day’s flight.
- The consignee’s mobile goes unanswered: the clearing agent and the courier in the UAE call before every step, and a wrong number stops the shipment.
- An item that needs approval: a medicine, a wireless device or a commercial food product waits for the competent authority’s permission.
- An undeclared restricted item: a perfume or power bank is picked up by the screening machine and the parcel is returned.
- Peak periods: the week before the two Eids, and the seasons of sales and major exhibitions in Dubai.
How is chargeable weight calculated in air freight?
An aircraft hold is limited by volume before it is limited by weight. So it is not enough for the carrier to know how much your shipment weighs; it needs to know how much space it takes. It converts the dimensions into a volumetric weight by dividing their product in centimetres by 6000, and then charges you on the higher of the two weights. The examples below are from shipments familiar on this route, each with a starting charge worked out at SAR 14 per kilogram.
| Shipment | On the scale | Volumetric weight | Chargeable weight | Charge starts from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Box of premium dates 30 × 30 × 20 cm | 5 kg | 3 kg | 5 kg | SAR 70 |
| Carton of clothes and gifts 50 × 40 × 40 cm | 8 kg | 13.3 kg | 13.3 kg | SAR 186 |
| Box of spare parts 40 × 30 × 25 cm | 22 kg | 5 kg | 22 kg | SAR 308 |
| Pallet of samples 120 × 100 × 90 cm | 150 kg | 180 kg | 180 kg | SAR 2,520 |
The figures make it clear that dates and spare parts pay for their weight, and that clothes and light pallets pay for their volume. You do not need to do the sum by hand: enter the measurements in the volumetric weight calculator and you will know the figure before you message us.
Air freight prices from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
The charge is made up of the price per kilogram multiplied by the chargeable weight, plus whatever services the customer asks for: collection from a distant city, packing, or delivery to a northern emirate. The figures in the table are starting points, and the final figure is fixed once the shipment has been weighed at the airport warehouse. UAE customs duty and tax are a matter between the consignee and customs, and do not appear on our invoice unless you ask for that.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Document envelope by express service | Starts from SAR 83 |
| Air freight, per kilogram of chargeable weight | Starts from SAR 14 |
| Parcel with a chargeable weight of 5 kg | Starts from SAR 70 |
| Shipment with a chargeable weight of 50 kg | Starts from SAR 700 |
| Bands of 100, 300 and 500 kg and above | Lower price per kilogram, set on request |
| Transfer from a distant city to the consolidation airport | Set on request |
| Declared dangerous goods, chilled or valuable cargo | Set on request |
| Shipping a car on a cargo aircraft | Set on request |
| Cargo insurance | A percentage of the declared value, set on request |
Prices quoted in the market: published figures for this route are few and far apart, and most offices ask you to call. What we found advertised puts an air kilogram between SAR 16 and 25 with some, and between SAR 50 and 90 with others who price on the express door-to-door service. A small parcel by air is offered at between SAR 300 and 800. In the opposite direction, express service fees are quoted at about AED 400 per shipment, and air is described as several dollars a kilogram dearer than road. The reason for the spread is that some figures are to the airport only and some to the door, so ask what the price covers before you compare.
| Factor | How it affects the price |
|---|---|
| Chargeable weight | The basis of the calculation, and each higher band brings the per-kilogram price down |
| Departure airport | Dammam and Riyadh are nearer and have more flights, and outlying cities add an inland transfer |
| Type of service | Express to the door is dearer than general air cargo to the airport |
| Emirate of delivery | Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are cheapest, and the northern emirates and Al Dhafra add a delivery leg |
| Nature of the contents | Dangerous, chilled and valuable goods need special packing, a declaration and handling |
| Timing | The weeks of Eid and of exhibitions raise the price of space on flights |
How do you cut the cost?
- Shrink the carton until it touches the contents, because you pay for every empty centimetre.
- Send the week’s orders in one shipment instead of five small ones.
- Separate the urgent from the rest: two kilograms by air and the remainder on the truck.
- Hand the shipment over before noon to catch that day’s flight with no rush fee.
- Choose collection from the UAE airport if your company has a clearing agent there.
- Attach the certificate of origin for a Saudi product, and the importer is spared the five per cent duty.
What raises the price and what lowers it is detailed on the pricing factors page, and the kilogram bands for all destinations are in the article air freight price per kilo from Saudi Arabia.
Express documents and parcels by air from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Most of what flies between the two countries is not goods but paper: a contract awaiting a signature in Abu Dhabi, an original power of attorney, an attested certificate, or a passport back from an embassy. After that comes the small parcel: a gift, a phone, a personal medicine, or something a traveller left behind. For these two there is an express service that collects from your office or home and hands over in person to the name written on the envelope.

| Type | Examples | Time to Dubai and Abu Dhabi | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Urgent documents and contracts | Contracts, powers of attorney, certificates, bank documents, passports | Next day to two days | Starts from SAR 83 |
| Small parcels and gifts | Clothes, a box of dates, solid perfume, accessories | 1–2 days | From SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Medium parcel up to 30 kg | A carton of purchases, books, tools | 1–2 days | From SAR 14 per kilogram |
Paper carries no duty in the UAE because it has no commercial value. All that is required is for the consignee’s name to be written exactly as on the ID, with the mobile number, the name of the organisation and the floor. A document that cannot be replaced, such as an original title deed or certificate, we place in a sealed reinforced envelope and send you a photo of it before closing. A parcel is opened in front of you at collection to check what is in it, so nothing gets in that would stop it at the airport. The service for all destinations is on the parcel shipping page, and for those who want maximum speed there is the article express international shipping service.
Gifts, dates and personal belongings
Family ties between the Kingdom and the UAE make the gift a daily shipment. Dates from Madinah or Qassim, coffee and cardamom, abayas and fabrics, children’s toys, and sometimes a whole suitcase for a student or an employee who has just moved. Most of these items pass without complication as long as they are in a personal quantity and listed in the declaration under their true description.
- Dates and dry sweets: shipped in their sealed packs, with the weight and value written down.
- Coffee, cardamom, saffron and spices: allowed in a family quantity.
- Clothes, abayas and fabrics: pressed into a small carton so they are not charged by volume.
- Personal medicines: with a prescription and a treatment quantity, and some need prior health approval in the UAE.
- Belongings of someone moving to live there: a suitcase or two by air, and the rest on the road truck.
- Zamzam water: not shipped as cargo.
Commercial air cargo for companies from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
A company does not ship a parcel; it commits to a date in front of a customer. So our work with it starts before the vehicle reaches the warehouse: we review the invoice, the tariff heading, the importer’s name and customs code, and then book the space on a particular flight. The goods are stacked on pallets, wrapped and strapped, and the waybill number and piece count are fixed to each pallet.

| Type of shipment | What marks it out | What we prepare for it |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial goods on pallets | Weights from 100 kg to tonnes | Stacking, wrapping and strapping, and space booked on a set flight |
| Urgent spare parts | A factory, rig, aircraft or vessel that has stopped | The first flight with room, and delivery on site |
| Commercial samples | Low value and a critical date | A samples invoice at the actual value with a precise description |
| Exhibition and conference materials | They enter the UAE and then return | Arranging temporary entry with the exhibition’s clearing agent, as available |
| Saudi products for export | Dates, foods, perfumes, cosmetics and textiles | A certificate of origin, and a review of the registration requirements in the emirate |
| Free-zone shipments | A licensed consignee inside a free zone | A transit declaration to the zone, with the company name and licence number |
Preparing the shipment’s documents is half the work in commercial freight. The invoice carries the names of the seller and buyer, the delivery term, the country of origin and the value of each line; the packing list carries the weights and dimensions; and the certificate of origin proves the product is Saudi, so it is exempt from duty. We send these papers to the UAE clearing agent before the aircraft lands, so release begins at unloading rather than after it.
The height of a pallet is governed by the aircraft’s hold door, so ask us for the limit before you stack your goods. A fuller explanation is on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping to the UAE: by air or on a carrier?
Some customers ask about shipping a car by air to Dubai. It is possible on a cargo aircraft, where the car is secured on a special platform inside the hold. It is requested by the owner of a luxury or classic car or by an organisation showing a car at an exhibition, and the charge is set on request.
The usual route, however, is by road. The car carrier crosses at Al Batha and arrives within days, starting from SAR 1,100 from the Eastern Province. It is the sensible choice for any car that is not chasing a date. The conditions for exporting the car and registering it there are in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, and the service in general is on the car shipping page.
Required papers and documents, and export procedures
Little is required of an individual and more of a company. The rule is the same in both cases: everything in the shipment must appear on paper. We draw up the air waybill and lodge the export declaration with Saudi customs, and we go over with you what the UAE side will ask for before the shipment leaves your city.
| Shipment | From the sender in the Kingdom | From the consignee in the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | A copy of the ID or residence permit | Name, mobile, organisation and address |
| Personal parcel or gift | ID, and a list of the items with the value of each | Name as on the Emirates ID, mobile, and a copy of the ID if requested |
| Belongings of someone moving to live there | Passport and a detailed list of the used belongings | UAE residence permit or entry visa, and the home address |
| Commercial goods | Commercial registration, invoice, packing list and certificate of origin | The importer’s trade licence and customs code |
| Food, cosmetics or medicines in a commercial quantity | The product’s certificates, label and ingredients | Product registration or permission from the competent authority in the emirate |
| Shipment to a free zone | Invoice and packing list | The company’s licence inside the zone and its customs account number |
The most damaging mistakes are small ones: a missing letter in the consignee’s name, an old mobile number, or a description such as “miscellaneous items”. Each of them costs a day at the airport. Every paper and who issues it is explained on the required documents page.
UAE customs and the procedure for receiving the shipment
The UAE and the Kingdom are both members of the Gulf customs union, so the general rules are the same in the two countries, and they are applied by the customs department of each emirate. An air shipment enters on an electronic declaration lodged by the clearing agent, then the amounts due are paid, then release is issued and it goes out for delivery. The items below are the rules currently applied, and we confirm what is in force for your shipment before shipping.
| Item | Rule currently applied |
|---|---|
| Documents | No duty and no tax |
| General customs duty | 5% of the value of the goods plus freight and insurance |
| Value added tax | 5% on imports |
| Low-value personal parcels | In Dubai, goods for personal use worth no more than AED 300 are exempt from duty |
| Tobacco, e-cigarettes and their liquids | Outside the exemption, with high duty and excise tax |
| Product of Saudi or Gulf origin | Exempt from duty with a valid certificate of origin |
| Used belongings of someone moving to live there | Mostly exempt with a detailed list and a valid residence permit |
| Goods to a free zone | No duty inside the zone, and it falls due when they leave for the local market |
The steps for receiving it are simple for the consignee. A message or call arrives from the clearing agent or courier saying the shipment has landed and stating the amount due, if any. He pays it online or at the door, and then a delivery time is set. He signs on receipt after counting the pieces and checking that the packing is intact, and writes any remark on the delivery note before the courier leaves.
Anyone who wants the consignee to pay nothing, such as a shop sending to its customer, asks for delivery duty paid, and its fee is set on request. The clearance service is explained on the customs clearance page, and everything about the destination is on the shipping to the UAE page.
Prohibited and restricted items in air freight to the UAE
There are two kinds of prohibition, and many people confuse them. The first is imposed by aviation safety on all routes and covers whatever burns, explodes or leaks. The second is imposed by UAE regulations on what enters its territory. Some items fall under both. The table brings together what is asked about again and again on this route.
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Liquid perfumes and oud oil with alcohol | Flammable substances, accepted only as declared dangerous goods, or sent by road |
| Aerosol cans and air fresheners | Compressed gases, not allowed in an ordinary parcel |
| Lithium batteries inside devices | Accepted subject to packing and labelling conditions and a set number per parcel |
| Loose batteries and power banks | Not loaded on passenger aircraft |
| Narcotics and psychotropic substances | Strictly prohibited, with severe penalties in both countries |
| Controlled medicines | With prior permission from the UAE health authority and a prescription |
| E-cigarettes and tobacco products | Restricted, and subject to special standards and charges |
| Drones and wireless devices | Need a permit or type approval from the regulator |
| Counterfeit goods and offending publications | Confiscated, and the consignee may be fined |
What is most often sent back from our airports to its owner is a bottle of perfume among the clothes, or a power bank in the pocket of a bag. So go through what is in the carton before closing it, and tell us about anything you are unsure of. The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering air freight from Saudi Arabia in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah
The service does not end at the airport. After release the shipment is loaded onto a distribution van and goes to the consignee’s door: a flat in a tower, a villa, an office, or a warehouse in an industrial area. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman are served on the day of release itself or the next morning, and the more distant emirates a day later.

| Destination | Usual arrival airport | Door-to-door time | Examples of delivery areas |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai | Dubai International or Al Maktoum | 1–2 days | Deira, Bur Dubai, Business Bay, the Marina, Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Jebel Ali |
| Abu Dhabi | Zayed International | 1–2 days | Abu Dhabi island, Al Reem, Khalifa City, Mussafah, Mohamed bin Zayed City |
| Sharjah | Sharjah International or Dubai | 1–2 days | Al Majaz, Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, the Industrial Area, Muwaileh |
| Ajman | Sharjah or Dubai | 1–2 days | Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Jurf, the Industrial Area |
| Al Ain | Zayed International, then by road | 2–3 days | The city centre, Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Hili |
| Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain | Sharjah or Dubai, then by road | 2–3 days | Al Nakheel, Al Dhait, Al Hamra, Al Salamah |
| Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Kalba | Dubai or Sharjah, then by road | 2–3 days | Central Fujairah, Mirbah, Dibba |
An address in the UAE is written differently from what we are used to: there is no postcode for homes, and the courier arrives by description and by mobile. So write the emirate, then the area, then the name of the building or the villa number, then the flat or office number. In Dubai the ten-digit Makani number is enough to bring the courier to the very door. A UAE mobile number is a condition, as the courier does not set out without it. All destinations are on the shipping destinations page.
Air freight or road freight to the UAE?
On most international routes air is compared with sea. Here, though, the rival is a truck that covers the road in days, because the border is shared and the road is a dual carriageway all the way to Abu Dhabi. So we say it plainly: the truck is the better fit for most of what is shipped to the UAE, and the aircraft for a small part of it. Sea does not enter the comparison, since a ship from the west coast sails round the Arabian Peninsula and does not beat the truck.
| Point of comparison | Air freight | Road freight |
|---|---|---|
| Door-to-door time | 1–3 days | 1–6 days by full truck depending on the city, and 4–10 days by shared truck |
| Method of charging | Per kilogram of chargeable weight | By the piece, the cubic metre or the truck |
| Price starts from | SAR 14 per kilogram | SAR 4.6 per kilogram above 50 kg, a carton SAR 140 and a cubic metre SAR 550 |
| Best for | Documents, parcels, samples and spare parts | Furniture, many cartons, pallets and cars |
| Restrictions | Tighter on perfumes, batteries and gases | Lighter, and it carries most of what the aircraft refuses |
| Time gap from Dammam and Al-Ahsa | About one day | The truck arrives in one to 3 days |
| Time gap from Jeddah and Makkah | Three days or more | The truck covers about two thousand kilometres |
The last two rows show that the value of the aircraft rises the further your city is from the crossing. From Dammam the road almost matches the air in time, while from Jeddah, Madinah and Abha the air saves days. Details of the trucks, crossings and road prices are in the article shipping company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, and on the land freight page.
Air freight companies on this route: express or general air cargo?
Anyone searching for air freight companies to the UAE finds two kinds of provider. The express parcel networks, which own their aircraft and couriers and sell a single door-to-door price. And the freight offices, which book you space on the airlines’ flights and add collection, clearance and delivery. Both are sound, and the difference lies in the weight: express for anything from an envelope to about 30 kg, and general air cargo for roughly 45 kg and above.
Our job is to choose for your shipment the channel that suits its weight and its date, so that you do not pay the express price on a hundred kilograms, nor wait for a general consignment to be consolidated for the sake of an envelope. Our air services to all destinations are in the article air freight from Saudi Arabia.
Packing parcels and goods for the aircraft
Packing in air freight has two opposing sums. You want it strong enough to withstand stacking and handling, and you want it small so that it does not push up the volumetric weight. The answer is not more cardboard but a carton the size of the contents and padding in the right place. We do the packing at collection for anyone who asks.
- Documents: a reinforced envelope that does not bend, with a bag inside that keeps out the wet.
- Dates and foods: the original sealed pack inside a carton that prevents crushing.
- Electronics: the original box with foam around it, then a double-walled outer carton.
- Pallets: tight stretch wrap, straps, and cardboard corners on the edges.
- The label: name, mobile, emirate and area on two sides of every piece.
The packing steps are illustrated on the packing guide page.
Collection from the cities of the Kingdom
You do not need to visit the airport or our office. The courier comes to your home, office or warehouse, checks the contents, gives the shipment a first weighing and hands you a receipt in the establishment’s name. The shipment then goes on to the airport that serves your city.
| Region | Cities | Airport | Collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central | Riyadh, Al Kharj, Al Majmaah, Dawadmi | King Khalid International | The same day inside Riyadh, and by appointment around it |
| Western | Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Rabigh | King Abdulaziz International | The same day inside Jeddah, and within a day for Makkah and Taif |
| Eastern | Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Al-Ahsa, Qatif | King Fahd International | Mostly the same day |
| Madinah | Madinah, Yanbu, Badr, Al-Ula | Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International, or Jeddah | Within a day |
| Qassim and Hail | Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar Rass, Hail | Via Riyadh | By prior arrangement |
| South and north | Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Tabuk, Sakaka | Via Jeddah or Riyadh | By prior arrangement |
In Makkah we collect from hotels and Umrah pilgrims’ lodgings in a small vehicle, by an appointment ahead of travel. The full service is explained on the door to door page.
Steps of air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
- Message us on 0552803439 with the type of shipment, its weight and measurements, your city and the consignee’s emirate.
- We work out the chargeable weight and send the price line by line, with the nearest available flight.
- We go through the list of contents with you and take out what the aircraft will not accept.
- The courier comes to your address, packs what is needed and gives you the collection receipt.
- The shipment is handed to the export warehouse at the airport, where it is weighed and screened and its declaration lodged.
- The air waybill is issued and its number reaches you, and the shipment takes off on its flight.
- The import declaration is lodged at the UAE airport and the amount due, if any, is paid.
- The courier delivers it to the address against the consignee’s signature, and we tell you delivery is complete.
Cargo insurance and live tracking
Tracking in air freight is built on the waybill number. Every scan of the shipment is recorded against it: entered the warehouse, loaded, departed, landed, released, out with the courier. Because the flight is short these stages follow one another within hours, so you get closely spaced WhatsApp messages from us instead of opening a website and searching. How to follow a shipment is on the shipment tracking page.
The need for insurance grows as the value per kilogram rises. International conventions limit the air carrier’s liability to an amount per kilogram, which is enough for a carton of clothes and not enough for a phone or a precision spare part. Optional insurance covers the value you declare, and its premium is a percentage of that value set on request. What it covers and what it excludes are on the cargo insurance page.
Temporary storage and logistics management services
Some shipments do not fly on the day they are collected. A consignee who has not returned from a trip, an exhibition whose warehouse has not opened, or shop orders waiting to be completed. For these cases we keep the shipment for some days in a closed warehouse and then send it on the date you set. The storage period and its charge are stated in the booking confirmation.
- Temporary storage: before shipping in the Kingdom, or after arrival with our agent in the UAE, as available.
- Consolidating purchases: we combine what you bought from more than one shop on one waybill.
- Delivery duty paid: we settle the amount due in the UAE on the consignee’s behalf.
Details of the warehouses are on the storage page.
Air freight from the UAE to Saudi Arabia
The reverse direction is no less busy. Dubai is a retail and wholesale market for the region, and individuals, traders and workshops in the Kingdom buy from it. Our agent collects the purchases from the shop, the supplier or the free zone, they are flown to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam airport, and we clear them and deliver them to your door. The time is close to that of the outbound journey.
- What is shipped: electronics, car and equipment spare parts, fashion, and restaurant and exhibition supplies.
- Saudi customs: duty according to the item and 15% value added tax.
- Conformity: commercial goods covered by technical regulations are registered before shipping.
- Heavy goods: they come by road through Al Ghuwaifat and Al Batha at a lower cost.
How do you choose an air freight company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE?
The route is crowded with providers because it is short and in heavy demand, and some of them sell another firm’s service at a margin. The advertised price reveals nothing; the questions do. Put these six questions and listen to the answer.
| The question | A reassuring answer | A worrying answer |
|---|---|---|
| What are you in legal terms? | An establishment with a commercial registration and a stamped receipt | A mobile number and a personal account for the transfer |
| What weight do you charge me on? | Asks for the measurements and works out the volumetric weight in front of you | Prices on the scale weight and then adjusts after collection |
| What do you not ship? | Asks about perfumes, batteries and medicines | “Everything can be shipped” |
| What will the consignee pay? | Mentions the duty, the tax and the exemption threshold | “Nothing at all” |
| What does the price include? | Lines: air, collection, clearance and delivery | A single figure over the phone |
| How do I follow it? | An air waybill number on the day of departure | “We will call you on arrival” |
The terms for cancellation, changing the date and the limits of liability are written in the booking confirmation that reaches you before collection, so read it before you hand over your shipment.
Common mistakes in air freight to the UAE
- Choosing the aircraft for a heavy shipment from Dammam or Al-Ahsa when the truck delivers it in almost the same time.
- Estimating the charge from the scale weight and ignoring the carton’s measurements.
- Slipping a bottle of perfume or a power bank in among the gifts.
- Writing an address with no emirate or area, or with a Saudi mobile for the consignee.
- Exporting a Saudi product without a certificate of origin, so the importer pays a duty he would have been spared.
- Sending a medicine without a prescription or in a quantity beyond what the treatment needs.
- Handing over the shipment after mid-afternoon and expecting it to arrive the next morning.

Frequently asked questions about air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
How much does air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE cost?
The aircraft charge is worked out on chargeable weight, not on the number of pieces. We start from SAR 14 per kilogram and from SAR 83 for an express document envelope. So a parcel with a chargeable weight of 10 kg starts from SAR 140, and a 100 kg shipment starts from SAR 1,400. Any duty and tax due in the UAE is paid there by the consignee and is not part of the freight charge.
How long does an air shipment take to reach Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
An urgent envelope or parcel is delivered the next day or the day after, provided it is collected before noon in Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam. General air cargo to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman is delivered in one to two days, and to Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and the western region in two to 3 days. The time is counted from the sender’s door to the consignee’s door.
Which Saudi airports do shipments to the UAE leave from?
Mainly from four airports: King Khalid International in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah, King Fahd International in Dammam and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International in Madinah. If you live in another city we collect from your home or office, and the shipment is then moved in our vehicle to whichever of these airports is nearest to you.
Is air freight to the UAE cheaper than road freight?
No, it is faster, not cheaper. The truck crosses at Al Batha and arrives within a few days, and its per-kilogram price starts from SAR 4.6 for anything above 50 kg. That is why we send by air what is light, valuable or tied to a date, and send by truck furniture, many cartons and heavy goods, and we tell the customer so before he pays.
How do I know the weight I will pay for?
Multiply the carton’s length by its width by its height in centimetres and divide the result by 6000; that gives the volumetric weight. Compare it with what the scale reads, and the higher of the two is what the charge is based on. A carton measuring 50 × 40 × 40 cm has a volumetric weight of 13.3 kg, so if it holds 8 kg of clothes you pay for 13.3.
Does the consignee pay customs on a personal parcel in the UAE?
The rule currently applied in Dubai is that goods arriving for personal use with a value of no more than AED 300 are exempt from customs duty, while anything above that attracts 5% duty and 5% value added tax. Tobacco products and e-cigarettes fall outside this exemption and carry high charges. The threshold may change, or be applied differently from one entry point to another, so we confirm the rule in force before shipping.
What paperwork is needed to send a parcel by air to the UAE?
From the sender: a copy of the national ID or residence permit, and a sheet listing what is in the parcel item by item with the value of each. For the consignee: the name as it appears on the ID, a UAE mobile number, and the address by emirate, area and building; a copy of the Emirates ID may be requested at clearance. We draw up the air waybill ourselves.
What documents does a Saudi company need to export goods by air to the UAE?
A stamped commercial invoice, a packing list with weights and dimensions, a certificate of origin and a valid commercial registration, followed by an export declaration lodged with Saudi customs. On the UAE side the importer needs a customs code with the authority through which the goods will enter. A product of Saudi origin is exempt from duty in the UAE as long as its certificate of origin is valid.
Will the aircraft accept perfumes, incense and oud oil?
Liquid perfume and oud oil blended with alcohol are classed as flammable substances, so they cannot go in an ordinary parcel. They can be shipped as declared dangerous goods in approved packaging with the proper labels, at a charge set on request. For anyone sending a quantity of them to the UAE, the easier course is to put them on the road truck: its restrictions are lighter and the road is short.
Can phones, laptops and batteries be sent by air?
A device with its battery inside is accepted as long as it is switched off, protected against accidental activation and the lithium battery label is fixed to the parcel. A loose battery or a power bank, however, cannot board a passenger aircraft and needs a cargo aircraft and a permit. Tell us the number of devices when you ask, because each parcel has a limit on batteries.
Can dates, coffee and gifts be sent by air to the UAE?
Yes, and they are among the things families exchange most between the two countries. Dates, coffee, cardamom and dry sweets travel in their sealed packs in a family quantity without complication. A commercial quantity of food is a different matter, as it is subject to registration of the product and its label with the competent municipality in the emirate. Zamzam water is not shipped as cargo.
Do you deliver air shipments to the free zones in the UAE?
Yes. We deliver in Jebel Ali, Dubai Airport Freezone and Dubai Logistics City, in Sharjah Airport free zone and in the industrial and free zones of Abu Dhabi. Goods entering a free zone pay no duty while they remain inside it, and duty falls due when they leave for the local market. We need the name of the company licensed in the zone and its licence number.
Can I follow my air shipment?
Yes. You receive the air waybill number with a copy of the waybill the hour it is issued, and it shows the status of the shipment: acceptance at the Saudi airport, then departure, then arrival at the UAE airport, then release, then out with the delivery courier. We send you every change on WhatsApp and tell you the name of the person who signed for it.
Do you ship cars by air to the UAE?
Shipping a car on a cargo aircraft is possible, and it is requested by owners of luxury and sports cars and show cars when time is short; the charge is set on request. The usual way on this route, though, is the road car carrier through Al Batha, which starts from SAR 1,100 from the Eastern Province. We put both options to you with their time and cost and you choose.
Do you ship by air from the UAE to Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Our agent collects from the shop, the supplier or the free zone in the UAE, the goods are flown to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam airport, and we clear them and deliver them to your address. Imports into the Kingdom carry customs duty that varies with the item and 15% value added tax, and commercial goods covered by technical regulations are registered for conformity before they are shipped.
