Who needs an air freight company in Riyadh?

Riyadh is a capital with ministries, embassies, company headquarters, universities and hospitals, and with millions of residents of dozens of nationalities. Each of these groups has a shipment that cannot wait for a lorry or a ship. Riyadh is also an inland city with no seaport, so the airport is its only direct international gateway. That is why demand for air freight is higher here than in the coastal cities.

Who ships What they usually ship Why they choose the aircraft
A resident sending to family back home Gifts, clothes, dates and prescribed medicines An occasion close at hand or a need that cannot be put off
A family with a scholarship student abroad Books, seasonal clothes and personal items A term that starts on a known date
An employee relocating to work outside the Kingdom First luggage ahead of furniture shipped by sea He needs it in his first week there
A company or factory Samples, catalogues and spare parts A deal or a production line is waiting
An online shop Customer orders in the Gulf and beyond A promise to deliver within days
A government body, embassy or law firm Attested documents, contracts and tenders A submission deadline that is not extended
A hospital, laboratory or pharmacy Supplies and samples that need cooling A short shelf life

What does an air freight company do, and how does it differ from an airline?

Many people confuse three parties. The airline owns the aircraft and sells hold space from airport to airport; it does not come to your home and does not clear goods in the destination country. The express parcel networks carry a small parcel door to door at an all-in price, and become very expensive once the weight grows. The air freight company, which is what we are, is an agent that brings the two services together: it chooses the carrier best suited to your weight and destination and takes care of everything around the flight.

  • Before the airport: collection, packing, a first weighing and a review of the contents and paperwork.
  • At the airport: handover to the handling terminal, export declaration, air waybill and booking on a specific flight.
  • After landing: customs clearance, delivery to the address and proof of delivery.
  • All the way: follow-up and notification, and action when a flight is delayed or a document is requested.

The service for the Kingdom as a whole is explained in the article air freight from Saudi Arabia, and its general page is Air freight.

The air freight services we offer from Riyadh

Not every air shipment is handled the same way. An envelope with a contract is not a pallet of spare parts, and a pack of chilled medicine is not a student’s suitcase. So we divide the service into types and recommend the one that matches your shipment’s weight, date and nature. These are the types and what each one suits.

Service What it suits How it is charged
Express document shipping Contracts, certificates, powers of attorney and passports Per envelope, starting from SAR 83
Express parcel shipping A parcel up to about 30 kilograms Per parcel and its weight band
General air freight Luggage and goods of 45 kilograms and above Per kilogram of chargeable weight
Consolidated air freight Non-urgent goods that can wait a day or two Per kilogram at a lower rate
Charter flight or full capacity A large load or a piece that does not fit a passenger aircraft hold Set on request
Declared dangerous goods Materials with a classification and approved packaging Set on request
Temperature-controlled freight Medicines, samples and heat-sensitive food Set on request
Supporting logistics services Storage before shipping, clearance and distribution in the destination country According to the service

Dangerous goods are not accepted simply because the shipper wants them sent. They need a classification under a UN number, a signed shipper’s declaration, tested packaging and specific labels. We accept only what the airline and the destination allow, and we decline the rest openly. Storage before shipping is subject to the terms on the Storage page.

Collecting air freight shipments from the districts of Riyadh

Riyadh is a wide city stretching tens of kilometres in every direction, and the airport is at its far north. Someone living in the south or west does not want to cross the city to hand over a carton. So we start the service at your door. The agent sets a time with you and comes with a scale, a measuring tape and cartons, and collects from the home, the office or the warehouse.

Collecting air freight shipments from the districts of Riyadh
Area Districts served What their shipments mostly are
North As-Sahafah, Al-Yasmin, Al-Malqa, An-Narjis, Al-Qirawan, Hittin, Al-Aqiq Luggage of families and students, and shop parcels
Business centre Al-Olaya, As-Sulimaniyah, Al-Wurud, Al-Muruj, King Fahd Company documents, samples and embassy paperwork
Old centre Al-Batha, Ad-Dirah, Al-Murabba, Al-Malaz, Al-Wizarat Residents’ parcels and gifts, and market goods
East Ar-Rawdah, Ar-Rabwah, An-Nasim, An-Nahdah, Qurtubah, Al-Yarmuk, Ishbiliyah Family parcels and personal items
West Irqah, the Diplomatic Quarter, Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq, Al-Uraija Diplomats’ bags, documents and luggage
South As-Suwaidi, Ash-Shifa, Al-Aziziyah, Badr, Ad-Dar Al-Baida Residents’ cartons and dates
Industrial areas First and Second Industrial Cities, As-Sulay, Sudair City by booking Spare parts, samples and pallets

At collection the agent weighs every piece and measures its dimensions in front of you, and writes this on a collection receipt of which you keep a copy. This weight is preliminary; the approved weight is the scale at the airport terminal. But the difference between the two is usually small, so you know your approximate cost before the shipment leaves your home. And if the carton holds something that is not accepted by air, the agent takes it out on the spot, so the parcel does not come back to you from the airport.

An order that reaches us before noon is usually collected the same day in the north and centre of the city, and the next day in the far outskirts. For buildings with entry systems, such as gated residential compounds and office towers, we need the name of the person in charge and the permit number in advance. The joined-up service is detailed on the Door to door page.

Collection from the governorates of Riyadh Region and nearby towns

King Khalid Airport serves an area wider than the capital. The governorates of the region have no international cargo airport, and their people send through Riyadh. We add their orders to scheduled collection runs, or send a dedicated vehicle when the shipment is large or urgent. The time is a day or two longer than for a shipment from the capital.

  • Diriyah, Al-Uyaynah and Al-Jubaylah: adjoining the north-west of the capital, and treated like its districts.
  • Al-Kharj and Ad-Dilam: about 80 kilometres to the south, with food factories and farms that send samples.
  • Al-Muzahimiyah and Dhurma: west of the capital on the Makkah road.
  • Huraymila, Thadiq and Rumah: to the north and north-east, by scheduled collection.
  • Al-Majmaah, Az-Zulfi and Al-Ghat: on the Qassim road, by prior arrangement according to quantity.
  • Shaqra, Ad-Dawadimi and Al-Quwayiyah: in the west of the region; their shipments join the nearest collection run.
  • Qassim: anyone who wants a service starting from Buraidah or Unaizah can read the article international shipping company in Qassim.

Preparing shipments from Riyadh at the King Khalid International Airport cargo village

King Khalid International Airport lies about 35 kilometres north of the centre of Riyadh. In its support zone is a cargo village with a declared area of about 275,000 square metres, holding ground handling terminals, separate buildings for express companies and customs facilities. Its declared design capacity on completion exceeds one and a half million tonnes a year. The practical meaning for you is that acceptance, weighing, screening and clearance all take place in one location.

Preparing shipments from Riyadh at the King Khalid International Airport cargo village
Step in the village What happens What you receive from it
Advance booking Space is booked on a specific flight before the shipment enters The flight number and its expected time
Acceptance at the terminal Pieces are counted and matched with the shipper’s letter of instruction Confirmation of the number of pieces
Weighing and measuring A certified scale and measurement of each piece’s dimensions A photo of the weight slip
Security screening X-ray of every piece, and manual opening when needed A notice if an item is refused
Export declaration Registered electronically with Saudi customs The declaration number on request
Preparing the air waybill The waybill is issued with the shipper, consignee and weight details The waybill number for tracking
Build-up and loading Pieces are stacked on an air pallet or in a hold container A departure notice

Every flight has a cargo acceptance cut-off some hours before departure, longer for dangerous and chilled goods. If the shipment enters after the cut-off it moves to the next flight. That is why we ask you to complete the paperwork before collection day, not after it. It is our agent who enters the village, since it is a customs area with entry permits, and you do not need to attend.

The air waybill: what is written on it and why it matters to you

The air waybill is the contract of carriage between the shipper and the airline, a receipt for the goods and the reference for customs in the destination country. It is non-negotiable, so the shipment is delivered to the consignee named on it, not to whoever holds the paper. A mistake in a single box can hold the shipment for days, which is why we send you its draft to check before it is issued.

Box What is written in it The common mistake
Waybill number 11 digits, the first three being the airline code Copying it incompletely when tracking
Shipper Name, address and mobile number in Riyadh A shortened name that does not match the ID
Consignee Name as on his ID, with address and phone A nickname, or an address without a postcode
Airport of departure and airport of destination Each airport’s three-letter code Choosing an airport far from the consignee’s city
Number of pieces and gross weight As recorded by the handling terminal A piece added after weighing
Chargeable weight The larger of actual and volumetric Assuming it is always the scale weight
Description of goods A specific description of each item A general phrase such as “items”
Declared value A value for carriage and a value for customs A value below the real one

In consolidated freight two waybills are issued: a master in the agent’s name covering all the consolidated shipments, and a house waybill in your name for your shipment alone. The number you track with is the one we send you in the confirmation message.

Chargeable weight: how is your shipment priced?

An aircraft hold runs out of volume before it runs out of weight. For that reason an air shipment is not priced on scale weight alone. A volumetric weight is calculated for it, equal to length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000, and the larger of that and the actual weight is taken. Some express parcel services divide by 5000, which gives a higher volumetric weight. You can work out the figure yourself with the volumetric weight calculator.

Shipment Dimensions in centimetres Scale weight Volumetric weight ÷ 6000 Chargeable weight
Box of premium dates 35 × 25 × 20 10 kg 2.9 kg 10 kg
Carton of winter clothes 60 × 50 × 40 12 kg 20 kg 20 kg
Box of spare parts 40 × 30 × 30 28 kg 6 kg 28 kg
Carton of children’s toys 80 × 60 × 50 9 kg 40 kg 40 kg
Pallet of goods 120 × 80 × 100 150 kg 160 kg 160 kg

The carton of toys in the table weighs 9 kilograms and is paid for as 40. It is the clearest example of a shipment that does not suit the aircraft unless it is truly urgent. The box of dates and the box of spare parts, on the other hand, are dense, and their actual weight is what is charged. For more on prices by weight, read the article air freight price per kilo from Saudi Arabia.

Packing shipments for air freight in Riyadh

Air packing has two aims that pull against each other: protection enough for airport handling, and the least possible volume and weight. A heavy, over-padded carton raises the freight, and a thin carton collapses under what is stacked on it. So we choose strong, lightweight cartons sized to the contents, and we pack at your home or in our warehouse before heading to the airport.

Packing shipments for air freight in Riyadh
What you ship Suitable packing What we avoid
Clothes and light bedding Vacuum bags, then a double-wall carton A large carton that is half empty
Glass, china and ornaments Each piece wrapped singly, padding on all sides, a carton inside a carton Pieces touching each other or the carton wall
Electronic devices The original box if available, or foam cut to shape A loose battery outside the device
Dates and dry food The sealed original pack, then a tight bag, then the carton Opened or unlabelled packs
Documents and certificates A rigid do-not-bend envelope inside a waterproof bag Folding stamped originals
Spare parts and heavy equipment A treated wooden crate or a wooden base with strapping A heavy piece loose inside a carton
Goods on pallets Even stacking, stretch wrap and corner protectors A height that exceeds the hold door

Aviation requirements are part of the packing itself. Permitted liquids have their caps sealed and go in a leak-proof bag, because pressure changes in the hold. Wood used in crates is treated and stamped, as most countries require. And every piece carries an address label in Latin letters on two faces, with a copy inside. The detailed methods for each item are in the Packing guide.

Air freight from Riyadh to the Gulf, Europe, Asia and America

From King Khalid Airport shipments move to every continent, on direct flights to some cities and through a transit airport to others. We do not promise you a direct flight to a particular city before checking the current schedule, since schedules change from season to season. The table below brings together the main destinations with their door-to-door times and our established starting prices.

Air freight from Riyadh to the Gulf, Europe, Asia and America
Destination Main cities Door-to-door time Price per kilogram

Some of these lanes have detailed articles covering the destination’s customs, prohibited items and delivery cities: air freight company from Riyadh to Turkey, air freight company from Riyadh to America and air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE. Asian residents of Riyadh will find the details of boxes and dates in the article shipping company from Riyadh to Indonesia. The other countries are on the Destinations page.

Prices of an air freight company in Riyadh

An air freight price is built on three figures: the chargeable weight, the rate per kilogram for the destination, and whatever services are added, such as collection, packing and delivery in the destination country. The table shows starting prices. We send you the final amount broken down into its items once we know the measurements and contents, and it is a freight charge that does not include customs charges in the destination country.

Shipment Price
Document envelope by express Starts from SAR 83
Parcel up to 5 kilograms to Turkey, Europe or the UK Starts from SAR 110
Small parcel or document envelope to America Starts from SAR 55
Per kilogram to the Gulf, Jordan and Lebanon Starts from SAR 14
Per kilogram to Turkey, 300 kilograms and above Starts from SAR 17
Per kilogram to Europe Starts from SAR 23
Per kilogram to the UK Starts from SAR 26
Per kilogram to North and West Africa Starts from SAR 28
Per kilogram to America Starts from SAR 41
Asia, Egypt and other destinations Set on request
Dangerous and chilled goods, charter flights and cars Set on request

Send four things to 0552803439: the destination, the number of pieces, the weight and size of each piece, and a description of the contents. The price comes back to you the same day.

Prices circulating in the market: most Riyadh offices do not publish a tariff for international air freight. What is published is general guides: one directory of air freight companies in the Kingdom puts the international kilogram between 4 and 8 US dollars, roughly SAR 15 to 30. Another guide mentions a package starting from SAR 70 for the first 20 kilograms and then SAR 6 for each extra kilogram, which is closer to domestic pricing. And a specialist source says peak seasons raise the freight by between 50% and 100%, and that dangerous goods add between 20% and 50%. Our prices sit at the bottom of these ranges, or below them for the nearer destinations.

What changes the price Direction of the change
The destination and its distance The Gulf is the lowest destination and America the highest in our table
Weight band The rate per kilogram falls at 45, 100, 300 and 500 kilograms
Ratio of volume to weight A light, bulky shipment is charged by its volume
Type of service Express is higher than general, and general is higher than consolidated
Extent of delivery To the door is higher than handover at the destination airport
Season Ramadan, the two Eids, summer and the end of the year see space rates rise
Nature of the shipment Dangerous, chilled, valuable and oversized cargo carries a handling charge
Variable carrier charges The fuel and security surcharges change, and we show them as a separate item

How do you reduce the cost?

  • Make the carton smaller before you ask for the price, since every empty centimetre is paid for.
  • Gather the month’s shipments into one booking to reach a cheaper weight band.
  • Choose consolidated freight if your date has two days of flexibility.
  • Collect from the destination airport if the consignee has a broker, and save the delivery charge.
  • Book a week or more ahead of the peak seasons.
  • Move anything above a few hundred kilograms to land or sea if it is not urgent.

All the factors are explained on the Pricing factors page.

Air freight transit time from Riyadh: where does the time go?

The aircraft covers the distance to the Gulf in an hour or two, and to Europe in six or seven hours. Yet the time is counted in days. The reason is that the flight is the shortest link in the chain, and what surrounds it is longer: preparation before departure, sometimes a wait at a transit airport, clearance after landing and delivery inside the destination country.

Stage Usual time What determines it
Collection and packing in Riyadh The day of the order or the next The district and the hour of the order
Preparation at the cargo village Half a day to a day Complete paperwork and the flight cut-off
The flight Hours, or an extra day through a transit airport Whether there is a direct flight with space on it
Clearance in the destination country Hours to two days, and longer in some countries The type of goods and correct details
Delivery to the address One to two days How far the city is from the arrival airport

What lengthens the transit time?

  • Incomplete papers: an invoice without a value, or a consignee without a phone number.
  • A restricted item: it stops the parcel at security screening or at arrival customs.
  • Seasonal congestion: space is booked early, and today’s shipment may fly the day after tomorrow.
  • A holiday in the destination country: customs there stop even if the aircraft has landed.
  • An address in a distant city: it adds a domestic flight or a lorry.

The table of times for all destinations is on the Transit times page.

Express, general or consolidated: which service fits your shipment?

The first question we put to you is: when must it arrive? The second: how much does it weigh? From the two answers we settle the service. Express wins on small weight and a tight date. General freight wins once the weight grows. Consolidated wins when there is time to spare. And when your shipment sits on the line between two services we price both for you.

Point of comparison Express General air freight Consolidated freight
Best weight Up to about 30 kilograms 45 kilograms and above 45 kilograms and above with no urgency
Pricing Per parcel, delivery included Per kilogram, with services itemised Per kilogram at a lower rate
Clearance Inside the same network By a broker on our side or the consignee’s By a broker after the consolidation is broken down
Time The shortest About a day longer Two to three days longer
Example A contract, a passport, a small gift A student’s suitcases, a pallet of samples A shop’s goods sent every week

Shipping parcels, documents and personal luggage

A large share of what we collect in Riyadh is individuals’ shipments. A resident sending a carton to his family, a mother sending her student son what he forgot, an employee going ahead of his furniture with two suitcases. These shipments are small in weight and large in value to their owners. We treat them with the same care as a company’s shipment, and explain to the owner what will be asked of the consignee before they move.

  • Documents: attested certificates, powers of attorney, contracts and passports, in an express envelope starting from SAR 83 and delivered against signature.
  • Small parcels: up to 5 kilograms start from SAR 110 to Turkey, Europe and the UK.
  • Students’ luggage: two or three suitcases going ahead of the student or following him, charged per kilogram.
  • Gifts and dates: in personal quantities, with the real value stated on the declaration.
  • Personal medicines: with a prescription in the consignee’s name and in a limited treatment quantity.
  • Luggage of those leaving for good: what they need in their first days by air, and the rest by land or sea.

The service in general is covered on the Parcel shipping page.

Air freight for companies and shops in Riyadh

A company looks at air freight differently from an individual. It does not ask about the price of the parcel so much as the cost of the parcel being late. A spare part delayed by a day can stop a factory, and a sample delayed by a week can lose a contract. So we offer companies an account with one person responsible, agreed pricing, tax invoices and documents reviewed before entering the airport.

  • Factories and contractors: urgent spare parts, equipment returned for repair and material samples.
  • Trade and distribution: samples ahead of orders, and light goods of high value.
  • Online shops: daily orders to the Gulf, with scheduled collection from the warehouse.
  • The health sector: supplies and medicines with cooling and the competent authority’s permits.
  • Exhibitions and conferences: stand materials shipped out and back, with numbered lists.
  • Law and consultancy firms: original contracts and tenders with a delivery deadline.

An exporter needs a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin, and agrees the delivery terms with the buyer: who pays the air freight, and who pays the arrival charges. We review these papers and match them with the goods before booking. Details are on the Commercial shipping page.

Dangerous, chilled, valuable and oversized shipments

Four kinds of shipment are not booked like the rest, and we must know about them before collection, not at the terminal door. Each kind has an equipped acceptance terminal, an earlier cut-off and extra documents. Hiding the nature of the shipment saves nothing, because security screening reveals it and sends it back.

  • Dangerous: perfumes in commercial quantities, paint, batteries and compressed gases. They are accepted with a classification, a declaration and approved packaging, and some only on cargo aircraft.
  • Chilled: medicines, vaccines, samples and food. They need insulated packs and cooled space at both airports, and less time on the ground.
  • Valuable: watches, precision instruments and costly samples. They are shipped with a declared value, insurance and delivery against identification. Cash, gold and jewellery we do not accept.
  • Large and heavy: a piece that does not fit through a passenger aircraft’s hold door waits for a cargo aircraft, and needs a wooden base and a forklift.

Documents required for air freight from Riyadh

The papers differ with the shipper and the shipment, not with the aircraft. An individual needs only what proves his identity and describes his parcel. A company adds what proves the sale and the origin. And the destination country may ask the consignee for a number or a permit. We go through the list with you at booking, so no shipment is collected with its papers incomplete.

Type of shipment From the shipper in Riyadh From the consignee abroad
Documents Copy of the national ID or residence permit Name, address and phone number
Personal parcel or gift ID, and a list of contents with the value of each item Identity number or tax number where required
Luggage of a student or person relocating Copy of the passport and a list of the luggage Visa, residence permit or university admission
Commercial goods Commercial registration, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin Importer number and the product’s licences
Food in commercial quantity Health certificate, certificate of origin and shelf-life details An importer registered with the health authority
Dangerous goods Shipper’s declaration and safety data sheet The importer’s agreement to receive them

The air waybill and the export declaration are issued by us under your authorisation. Each paper is explained on the Shipping documents page.

What is not accepted in air freight

Prohibition in air freight has three sources: aviation safety rules that apply to every flight, the Kingdom’s export rules, and the rules of the destination country, which differ from state to state. The first is the strictest, because nobody is exempt from it. The table gathers what people in Riyadh ask about most.

Item Ruling
Explosives, fireworks and ammunition Prohibited
Flammable liquids and gases, aerosol cans and lighters Dangerous goods; they do not go in an ordinary parcel
Liquid perfumes Dangerous goods, shipped only with a declaration and approved packaging
Loose lithium batteries and power banks Not loaded on passenger aircraft
Devices with the battery inside Accepted in limited numbers and with a label
Cash, gold, jewellery and precious stones We do not accept them
Narcotic medicines and psychotropic substances Prohibited except with official permits from both countries
Antiquities and old manuscripts Export is prohibited without a permit
Zamzam water Not shipped within shipments
Meat, dairy, plants and seeds Banned by many countries in personal parcels
Counterfeit goods Confiscated at arrival customs

If you are unsure about an item, ask us before packing. The full list is on the Prohibited items page.

Customs: on leaving Riyadh and on arrival

Every air shipment passes two customs points. The first is at King Khalid Airport, an export procedure registered electronically with no charges on most personal exports. The second is in the destination country, and it decides what the consignee pays and when he receives. We handle the first in full, and follow the second with a broker at the destination or with the express network.

  • Documents: they pass without charges in most countries, since they have no commercial value.
  • Gifts and personal parcels: each country has an exemption threshold that changes, and some countries exempt nothing. We confirm what applies before shipping.
  • Luggage of a person moving residence: many countries exempt it under conditions and time limits, detailed in each destination’s article.
  • Commercial goods: duty according to the tariff heading, then the tax, in the importer’s name.

The rule we advise: write the real value, and tell the consignee what he may be asked for. A parcel whose owner refuses to pay its charges stays in the warehouse and storage fees build up on it. The procedures are explained on the Customs clearance page.

Air, land or sea from Riyadh, and where do cars fit?

An honest air freight company tells you when you do not need the aircraft. Closed lorries leave Riyadh for the Gulf states and Jordan every day and arrive within a few days at a much lower cost per kilogram. To Europe, America and Asia the alternative is the sea: the container is moved from Riyadh to Dammam port by rail or to Jeddah port by lorry and then sails. So the aircraft is for the urgent and light, and the others for the heavy and bulky.

Point of comparison Air Land to the Gulf and Jordan Sea to the rest of the world
Point of departure from Riyadh King Khalid Airport From the address straight to the border crossing The port, after an inland move
Time 1–8 days A few days depending on the country Weeks
Unit of charge The chargeable kilogram The carton, cubic metre or lorry The cubic metre or container
Starting price SAR 14 per kilogram SAR 140 per carton SAR 2,800 for a saloon car
Suited to The urgent, light and valuable Furniture, cartons and cars A whole home, heavy goods and cars

The car is a clear example. Moving it by air is available on cargo aircraft for a luxury, classic or exhibition car, and the price is set on request. An ordinary car goes to the Gulf by land starting from SAR 1,100, and to the rest of the world by sea starting from SAR 2,800. For all three methods from the capital, read the article international shipping company in Riyadh, and the detailed comparison is on the Shipping methods comparison page.

Inbound air freight to Riyadh

The service works in both directions. Many of our customers in Riyadh are small importers and shoppers ordering from abroad: a part from a factory, a season’s goods, or purchases from a shop that does not ship to the Kingdom. We arrange collection from the seller in his country, fly the goods to King Khalid Airport, clear them and deliver to the address.

  • Charges: customs duty according to the item, and 15% value added tax on imports.
  • Conformity: where a product falls under a Saudi technical regulation, its SABER registration has to be finished ahead of arrival.
  • Licences: food, medicines, cosmetics and medical devices need release from the competent authority.
  • Telecom devices: some need the regulator’s approval before release.
  • Consolidation: purchases from more than one seller are gathered into one shipment to lower the cost.

Tracking shipments and insuring them

Air freight is the most precisely tracked mode of transport. Every movement is recorded against the waybill number the moment it happens, from acceptance in Riyadh to the courier going out for delivery. We do not leave you with the number alone. The follow-up officer checks the status and tells you of any change, and acts if the shipment stops for longer than usual. How to follow it is on the Tracking page.

Insurance is a separate matter from tracking. The airline’s liability for loss and damage is limited by the air carriage conventions and is calculated per kilogram, not on the value of the goods. So for a computer weighing two kilograms the carrier does not compensate you for its price. Anyone who wants the full value covered asks for optional insurance calculated as a percentage of the declared value, and its price is set on request. Its terms are on the Cargo insurance page.

At delivery the consignee checks the parcel before signing. If he finds a sign of opening, wetness or breakage he writes it on the delivery note and photographs it. The terms for changes, cancellation and claims are stated in the booking confirmation you receive, and we promise nothing beyond what is written there.

How do you choose an air freight company in Riyadh?

In Al-Batha, Al-Malaz, Ghirnatah and elsewhere there are dozens of offices that accept air freight, and their prices over the phone are close. The real difference shows after you hand over the parcel. So do not make the cheapest figure your only measure. Ask the following questions before you pay, and see how the office answers you.

What you ask about Sign of a good office Warning sign
Legal standing Commercial registration, tax invoice and collection receipt Cash payment with no paper
How weight is calculated Explains volumetric weight and measures in front of you Prices on scale weight, then raises it after the airport
What the price includes Written items: freight, fuel, clearance and delivery A single “all-in” figure with no breakdown
Transit time A time based on a booked flight A promise of one fixed day for all destinations
Prohibited items Asks about the contents and refuses what is not accepted “We ship everything”
Tracking A real waybill number whose status can be read “We will call you when it arrives”
Insurance and compensation Explains the carrier’s liability limit and offers insurance A verbal guarantee

Common mistakes in air freight from Riyadh

  • Asking for a price on scale weight alone, then being surprised by the volumetric weight at the airport.
  • Putting a power bank or a bottle of perfume in the parcel without telling the agent.
  • Writing the consignee’s name shortened or different from his ID.
  • Leaving the order until the last week before Eid or the holidays.
  • Declaring a value below the real one, which loses the right to compensation and gets the shipment held.
  • Choosing the aircraft for furniture or large appliances that land or sea would serve.
  • Not telling the consignee that he has charges to pay on receipt.

Frequently asked questions about an air freight company in Riyadh

How much does air freight from Riyadh cost?

The price follows the destination and the chargeable weight. A kilogram to the Gulf states and Jordan starts from SAR 14, to Europe from SAR 23, to the UK from SAR 26, to North and West Africa from SAR 28 and to America from SAR 41. A document envelope by express starts from SAR 83. The final figure reaches you once we know the measurements and the contents.

Where is the air freight office, and do I bring the shipment myself?

You do not need to come. The order starts with a call or a WhatsApp message, then the agent comes to your home, office or warehouse in any district of Riyadh. After collection the shipment travels in our vehicle to the cargo village at King Khalid International Airport, north of the city.

How long does an air shipment from Riyadh take to arrive?

One to 3 days to the Gulf states, 1 to 4 days to Jordan and Lebanon, 2 to 5 days to Turkey, 3 to 6 days to Egypt, Europe and Asia, and 5 to 8 days to America. These are door-to-door times, and most of them go on preparation and clearance rather than on the flight itself.

What is the difference between an air freight company and an airline?

The airline owns the aircraft and sells space in its hold from airport to airport. The air freight company handles what comes before and after: collection, packing, paperwork, booking on the right flight, clearance and delivery to the address. So the customer deals with one party instead of five.

How is the weight of a shipment calculated in air freight?

The scale weight is taken, then the volumetric weight is worked out by multiplying length by width by height in centimetres and dividing the result by 6000. The larger of the two figures is the chargeable weight on which the freight is paid. Some express services divide by 5000, so we tell you which formula applies to your shipment.

What is the smallest weight you accept?

There is no minimum weight. We accept an envelope of papers weighing a few grams, and we accept pallets weighing hundreds of kilograms. The difference is in the service: the envelope and the small parcel travel by express at a price per parcel, while larger weights have space booked for them by the kilogram.

Do you ship from Riyadh to Asia?

Yes, to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and others. The usual time is 3–6 days door to door. The price per kilogram for these destinations is set on request, because it varies a great deal from one city to another and from one season to the next.

Can a mobile phone or a laptop be shipped by air?

Yes, if the battery is inside the device, the device is switched off and protected against switching on, the number per parcel is limited and the lithium battery label is applied. Loose batteries and power banks, however, are not loaded on passenger aircraft. Some countries restrict phones entering in parcels, so we check the destination before accepting.

What documents are required from an individual?

A copy of the national ID or residence permit, a list of the contents with the value of each item, and the consignee’s name, full address and mobile number. Some countries ask for the consignee’s identity number or tax number. The air waybill and the export declaration are issued by us.

Does the price include what customs in the destination country charge?

No. The prices quoted are freight charges. Customs duty and value added tax in the destination country are paid there by the consignee under his country’s rules, unless we agree in advance on a service that includes paying them where that is available. We tell you before shipping what the consignee is likely to be asked for.

Do you ship perfumes, incense and oud oil?

Liquid perfumes are flammable substances in aviation classification, so they do not go in an ordinary parcel; they are shipped only as declared dangerous goods in approved packaging and where the destination accepts them. Incense and raw, unlit oud wood are accepted once the contents have been reviewed.

Do you ship dates and food?

Yes, in personal quantities in their sealed packs, and dates are the item that most often leaves Riyadh for abroad. Commercial quantities need a health certificate, a certificate of origin and a registered importer in the destination country. Some countries ban meat and dairy in personal parcels.

Can a car be shipped by air from Riyadh?

Freighter aircraft do carry cars, and the people who ask for it tend to own a luxury, classic or show vehicle; that price is set on request. For an everyday car the road to the Gulf starts from SAR 1,100 and a RoRo sailing from SAR 2,800.

Can I follow my shipment after the aircraft takes off?

Yes. Every shipment has an 11-digit air waybill number against which every movement is recorded: acceptance, loading, departure, arrival and release. We send you the number, and we also notify you ourselves at each stage by message, so you do not need to search on your own.

Do you handle shipments arriving in Riyadh by air?

Yes. We arrange collection from the supplier or shop in the country of origin, the flight to King Khalid Airport, then clearance and delivery to your address in Riyadh. Imports carry customs duty according to the item and 15% value added tax, and some products are registered on the SABER platform before they arrive.
