Who ships from Dammam to Oman, and what do they ship?
Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province and the nearest large Saudi city to the southern Gulf road, so shipments of every kind leave it for Oman. There are Omanis who have finished working in oil and industrial companies and return with whole households, employees transferred to Muscat, Sohar and Duqm, factories in Dammam and Jubail supplying customers in the Sultanate, and families sending cartons to relatives. Each of them has a shipping method that fits the size of what they send and their date:
| Who ships | What they usually send | What suits them |
|---|---|---|
| A returning Omani family or a family moving to live there | Bedrooms, sitting rooms, a kitchen and appliances | A dedicated truck with dismantling, packing and assembly |
| A transferred employee or a student | One room, cartons and suitcases | A place in a shared truck |
| Someone sending to family | Cartons of clothes, gifts and Al-Ahsa dates | Door-to-door land parcels |
| A factory or supplier | Building materials, plastics, licensed chemicals and spare parts | A full truck or pallets by the tonne |
| A contractor or oilfield services company | Equipment, generators and project materials | A flatbed or low-bed depending on dimensions |
| A car owner | A private or luxury car, or a motorcycle | An open or enclosed car carrier |
The land route from Dammam to Oman in closed trucks

A truck leaving Dammam heads south to Al-Ahsa, and from there two roads to the Sultanate branch out before it. The first continues to the Batha crossing, the only land crossing between the Kingdom and the Emirates, roughly 400 km from Dammam. The truck passes through it to Al Ghuwaifat, then crosses the Emirates until it enters Oman from the Buraimi side or from the Batinah coast. The second turns at the Batha junction onto the Empty Quarter road, 564 km long up to the crossing that carries the same name, faced on the Omani side by the Ramlat Khaliya post, then 161 km to the town of Ibri.
Choosing between the two roads is a practical decision we take once we know the delivery address. A sender to Sohar, Buraimi and Muscat gains a shorter distance and a populated road if the shipment crosses the Emirates, but its paperwork grows by a transit declaration. A sender to Ibri, Nizwa, Salalah and Duqm gains a single border and a single clearance if the shipment takes the Empty Quarter. The Empty Quarter crossing has a cargo zone with room for hundreds of trucks a day, so it is equipped for goods and not for travellers alone.
| Point of comparison | Through Batha and the Emirates | Through the Empty Quarter |
|---|---|---|
| Borders the truck crosses | Saudi–Emirates, then Emirates–Oman | Saudi–Oman directly |
| Paperwork | Export declaration, transit declaration in the Emirates, and Omani import declaration | Export declaration and Omani import declaration |
| Point of entry into Oman | Buraimi or the Batinah coast posts, depending on the destination | Ramlat Khaliya, then Ibri |
| Serves best | Sohar, Buraimi, North Batinah, Muscat and Musandam | Ibri, Nizwa, Haima, Duqm and Salalah |
| Nature of the road | Motorways served by fuel stations and workshops | Open desert with stations far apart |
These are the stages of the journey as your shipment goes through them, from the moment the crew reaches your door:
| Stage | What happens in it | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection in Dammam | Dismantling, packing, inventory and loading | Half a day to a day |
| Dammam to the Saudi crossing | Driving on the Al-Ahsa road, then the Batha road | Half a day to a day |
| Clearance and crossing | Completing export, then transit or import on the other side | Hours to a day, depending on congestion |
| Driving inside the Emirates or the Empty Quarter | Continuous haulage to the Omani border | About a day |
| Distribution inside Oman | Reaching the wilayat and unloading at the door | One to two days, more for Dhofar |
The door-to-door time follows the means of transport you choose. The figures below are for delivery in Muscat, and the driving time is added for anyone whose destination is farther:
| Means | Time to Muscat | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated truck | 3–4 days | A whole home, or goods that fill the truck |
| Shared truck | 5–7 days | One or two rooms, cartons and a few pallets |
| Car carrier | 4–6 days | Cars and motorcycles |
| Land parcels | 4–6 days, and up to 8 days for Salalah | Cartons and suitcases |
| Air freight | One to 3 days | Documents, parcels and urgent luggage |
What lengthens the time?
- Congestion at Batha: the crossing carries most of the Kingdom’s land trade with the Emirates, and truck queues there grow before holidays and at weekends.
- A missing paper: the absence of a certificate of origin or a list of contents holds the truck in the crossing yard until it is complete.
- Waiting for the shared load: the truck does not move before it fills, and that may take two or three days.
- A distant wilayat: Salalah, Duqm and Khasab are one to two days farther than Muscat.
- Weather: dust on the Empty Quarter road, and the fog and rain of the khareef season in Dhofar in summer.
Shipping prices from Dammam to Oman
Dammam’s closeness to the southern crossings makes the haulage inside the Kingdom lighter than it is from the western cities, but the longer part of the road lies outside it, so the delivery town in Oman remains what moves the price most. We count a small shipment by the parcel, carton or cubic metre, furniture by the number of rooms, goods by the tonne or the truck, and a car by the type of carrier. These are the starting prices from your door in Dammam:
| Shipment | To Muscat and the north of the Sultanate | To Salalah |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Starts from SAR 32 | Starts from SAR 50 |
| Parcels up to 30 kg | Starts from SAR 165 | Set on request |
| Carton | Starts from SAR 140 | Set on request |
| Cubic metre in a shared truck | Starts from SAR 550 | Set on request |
| Per kilogram above 50 kg | Starts from SAR 5.5 | Starts from SAR 7.4 |
| Bedroom | Starts from SAR 1,700 | Starts from SAR 2,300 |
| Furniture of a two-bedroom flat | Starts from SAR 2,950 | Set on request |
| Villa furniture | Starts from SAR 6,350 | Set on request |
| Commercial goods by the tonne | Starts from SAR 870 per tonne | Set on request |
| Car on an open carrier | Starts from SAR 1,100 | Set on request |
| Car in an enclosed carrier | Set on request | Set on request |
| Air freight | Starts from SAR 14 per kilogram | Set on request |
Prices circulating in the market for shipping from the Kingdom to Oman sit around these limits: a parcel up to 5 kg between SAR 45 and 75, the kilogram in heavy shipments between SAR 6 and 12, a land carton from SAR 150, a room of furniture from SAR 2,500 to Muscat and from SAR 3,500 to Salalah, the furniture of a three- or four-room home between SAR 2,000 and 5,500, a car between SAR 1,800 and 6,000, and commercial goods from SAR 1,500 per tonne. Take these limits with you when you compare, and ask each provider to show what its figure includes of packing, clearance and unloading.
| Factor | How it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Size of the shipment | The first thing we ask about. Estimate it yourself with the volume calculator before calling |
| Dedicated or shared | In a dedicated truck you pay for the whole truck, and in a shared one you pay for your cubic metres |
| The wilayat | Sohar and Buraimi are nearer than Muscat, and Salalah, Duqm and Musandam are farther |
| The crossing chosen | Crossing the Emirates adds a transit declaration, and the Empty Quarter adds kilometres |
| Services at both ends | Dismantling, packing, assembly and a crane are written as separate lines in the offer |
| Time of year | The end of the school year, the holidays and Salalah’s khareef season see higher demand |
How do you cut the cost?
- Book a place in a shared truck if your date has a week to spare.
- Sell or give away what is easy to buy in Oman for less than the cost of moving it.
- Gather scattered cartons into one shipment counted by the cubic metre or the kilogram.
- Set your date outside the peak days, and tell us two weeks ahead if you can.
- Get the papers complete the first time, because every day of waiting at the crossing has a price.
A fuller explanation of the factors is on the pricing factors page.
What sets shipping from Dammam and the Eastern Province apart?
Shipping from Dammam differs from shipping from Riyadh or Jeddah in three ways. First, the city is part of one metropolitan area with Khobar and Dhahran, so the truck collects from the three cities in one round with no intermediate haul. Second, around it lies the largest industrial cluster in the Kingdom: the industrial cities of Dammam, Jubail Industrial City, and the facilities of Ras Tanura and Abqaiq, so the share of goods and equipment on this line is higher than on any other line to Oman. Third, it has King Fahd International Airport and King Abdulaziz Port, so an urgent shipment finds an aircraft and a heavy container finds a ship without leaving the region.
In return, the region has things that must be allowed for. Coastal humidity affects wood and appliances if they stay in open cartons, so we pack on the loading day itself and do not leave pieces uncovered in the yard. The gated residential compounds belonging to companies ask for an entry permit for the crew and the truck a day ahead, so tell us if your home is inside a compound. The movement of heavy trucks inside some districts of Dammam and Khobar is regulated by hours; we do not state particular hours here because they change, and we confirm those in force before the loading day.
Moving household furniture from Dammam to Oman
Household furniture stays in the truck for at least three days, and goes through the heat of the road and a possible inspection at one border or two. So we start the job with a walk through the home in which we decide what is dismantled and what travels as it is, then we number the rooms, then we pack each room and write its contents in the inventory list. That same list is what is presented to the Sultanate’s customs to show that the items are used and belong to their owner.
- Bedrooms and wardrobes: dismantled into panels, the panels of each piece tied together, and its screws kept in a bag carrying its number.
- Sitting rooms and sofas: wrapped in thick plastic film then blankets, and loaded standing on their side when their shape allows.
- Electrical appliances: disconnected a day before loading and dried. Mains voltage in Oman is 240 volts and its sockets are the three-pin type used in the Kingdom, so your appliances need no transformer.
- Split air conditioners: a technician locks the refrigerant in the outdoor unit before taking them down, and each of the two units goes in a carton of its own.
- Glass, mirrors and marble: in wooden frames lined with foam, loaded upright and not flat.
- Kitchenware and books: in small double-wall cartons so that they are not too heavy to carry.
Service details are on the furniture shipping page, and anyone shipping from the centre of the Kingdom will find what concerns them in the article shipping company from Riyadh to Oman.
The packing service before loading
Packing on this line is not a cosmetic service; it is what separates a piece that arrives sound from a piece that arrives scratched. The road is long, part of it is sandy, and the shipment may be taken down for inspection and put back. So we choose the material by the piece, not by what happens to be in the van. Polished wood takes a soft layer under the cardboard so that its finish is not scratched. Fabric takes tight plastic film that keeps the dust out. Electronics take foam that fills the empty space inside the carton. We write on each carton its number and the room it belongs to, so the delivery crew in Oman knows its place without opening it.
For anyone who prefers to pack by themselves, we supply cartons, tape and bubble wrap before the loading day, and we check what was packed before lifting it onto the truck. Packing methods for each type of item are explained in the packing guide, and the ways of securing the load inside the truck on the packing and lashing page.
A dedicated truck or a shared truck?
The first question we put to you once we know the size of the shipment: do you want the truck to yourself, or do you accept sharing it? A dedicated truck is loaded from your home, locked, and driven to your address without stopping at anyone else’s, and you choose the day it leaves. A shared one gathers the shipments of several customers from Dammam, Khobar and Jubail and distributes them over the towns of Oman in order, so you pay less and wait longer. On a line that crosses two borders on one of its two roads, a dedicated truck also helps in that its customs declaration covers a single shipment and so passes faster.
| Item | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| Basis of the charge | The hire of the whole truck | The cubic metre or the number of pieces |
| Day of departure | The day you set | The day the load is complete |
| Time to Muscat | 3–4 days | 5–7 days |
| Customs declaration | One declaration for one shipment | A declaration covering several shipments |
| Number of handlings | One loading and one unloading | The shipment may be moved to a distribution vehicle |
| Suits | A whole home, a large quantity of goods or a fixed date | One to three rooms and scattered cartons |
Shipping parcels, cartons and luggage
Not everyone who calls us is moving a home. Many send a carton of clothes to a brother in Sohar, or the luggage of a student who flew ahead of it to Muscat, or boxes of dates from Al-Ahsa, or a device bought in Khobar. These shipments are collected from the door and added to the nearest land trip, and the consignee is told before the distribution vehicle reaches their district.
- Small parcel: up to 5 kg starts from SAR 32, and up to 30 kg from SAR 165.
- Carton: starts from SAR 140, and we prefer that it weighs no more than 30 kg so that it does not tear in handling.
- Consolidated shipment: anything above 50 kg is counted per kilogram from SAR 5.5, or per cubic metre from SAR 550, whichever suits your shipment better.
- Devices and phones: with their invoice if new, and with a clear description if used.
- Dates and dry foodstuffs: tightly wrapped and written in the description, in personal quantities.
Weights and sizes are explained on the parcel shipping page, and how we collect and hand over at the address on the door-to-door shipping page.
Shipping commercial goods from Dammam and Jubail to Oman
Factories and suppliers in the Eastern Province sell the Omani market building materials, plastics, metal products, foodstuffs and spare parts. Three things matter to the trader here: that the truck leaves on time, that it crosses without charges that are not due, and that the goods arrive in their count and condition. The Kingdom and the Sultanate are both members of the Gulf customs union, so a product of Saudi origin enters Oman with no customs duty whenever a sound certificate of origin accompanies it.
- Unit of charge: by the tonne or the pallet in a part load from SAR 870 per tonne, and by the full truck for quantities.
- Certificate of origin: issued electronically for the national product, and its absence makes the goods be treated as foreign.
- Imported goods: they carry the unified 5% duty unless its payment at first entry into the Gulf is proved.
- Value added tax: 5% in Oman, paid by the importer on release.
- Advance declaration: we file the export declaration in the Kingdom, and the importer or their broker completes the import declaration in the Omani “Bayan” system before the truck arrives.
- Chilled and frozen: in refrigerated trucks with the temperature recorded along the whole road.
Details are on the commercial shipping page.
How do we handle large shipments and equipment?
Contracting and oil services companies in Dammam and Jubail send generators, compressors, pumps, steel structures and portable cabins to Oman. These do not fit in a closed truck and are not priced by the cubic metre. We ask for the dimensions of the piece, its weight and its lifting points, then choose a flatbed or a low-bed for it, and determine whether it needs an abnormal-load permit on the road.
- Loading: by a crane or winch suited to the weight, with lifting points set by the manufacturer.
- Securing: with chains, tensioned straps and timbers that prevent sliding, checked at every stop.
- Oversize dimensions: anything beyond the truck’s legal width or height travels with a permit and an escort under each country’s regulations.
- Papers: an invoice, a packing list and a serial number for each machine, and proof that it returns after the project if it is sent temporarily.
This type is priced on request after the dimensions are studied. Details are on the heavy equipment shipping page.
Car shipping from Dammam to Oman on car carriers

A car does not travel inside the furniture truck but on a carrier made for it. Carriers are of two kinds: an open one that carries several cars in one trip and is the cheaper, and an enclosed one that shields the car from dust and gravel and is asked for with luxury and classic cars. In both cases the car is secured by its four wheels with straps that do not touch the body, and it is inspected and photographed from every side before it goes up, with its scratches and odometer reading written in the collection report.
| Item | Open carrier | Enclosed carrier |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Starts from SAR 1,100 | Set on request |
| Protection | Firm securing, with the car exposed to air and dust | Walls and a roof that keep out sand and sun |
| Departure | When the number of cars is complete | On an agreed date |
| Suits | Saloons, 4x4s and pickups | Luxury, sports, classic and low-slung cars |
Before booking we review three conditions with you so that the car does not reach a border it cannot cross. The first is in the Kingdom: paying the fines, then obtaining the export certificate and its plates from the traffic department, and a release letter from the financier if the car is financed. The second is in Oman: the rule in practice is that the Royal Oman Police ask, to register a car coming from a Gulf state, for an export certificate issued by the authority that registered it, and that a used private car more than 7 years old is not registered. The third is the customs duty: 5% of the car’s value if it was not paid in a Gulf state before. These conditions change, and we confirm those in force for your car before shipping.
- Preparation: empty the car of personal items, leave a quarter of a tank of fuel, and hand over one key.
- A non-running car: it is loaded by winch, and its condition is stated at booking because its carrier differs.
- Motorcycles: on a wooden base or in a crate, with the price set on request.
Details are on the car shipping page, and the wider picture in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia.
Crossings, customs and preparing the transit paperwork
The papers decide whether the truck spends two hours at the crossing or two days. So we do not load before the file is complete. On the Saudi side the export declaration is filed electronically and a crossing slot is booked for the truck. If the road is through the Emirates, a transit declaration is opened and the shipment is sealed under it until it leaves the other side unopened. On the Omani side the import declaration is presented and the shipment is examined according to its type.
| Type of shipment | Treatment in Oman |
|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings of someone moving to live there | Usually exempt once personal use and residence are shown |
| Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin | No customs duty on a certificate of origin, with 5% value added tax |
| Goods of foreign origin | 5% duty if not paid before, then value added tax |
| Car | 5% duty if not paid before, then inspection, registration and insurance |
| Personal parcels and gifts | Exempt within the limits of personal use, with the value of any excess assessed |
| Shipment | Documents required |
|---|---|
| Household furniture | The sender’s ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Omani ID or residence card, a work or tenancy contract, and a numbered list of contents |
| Commercial goods | A commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin, and the importer’s registration in Oman |
| Car | The registration, the export certificate and its plates, the owner’s ID, and the release letter if there is finance |
| Parcels | A description of the contents and their value, and the consignee’s name, address and Omani mobile number |
| Equipment sent temporarily | An invoice, serial numbers and the project letter; it is handled under temporary admission |
Each document is explained on the required documents page, the clearance service on the customs clearance page, and the locations of the crossings on the ports and gateways page.
What is not shipped to Oman, and what needs a permit
Some of what is in a home should not go up onto the truck, either because its entry is banned or because it is a danger to the rest of the load. One such item among the cartons is enough to hold the whole shipment at inspection. Go over the table before you close your cartons:
| Item | What is done with it |
|---|---|
| Alcohol and narcotics | Strictly prohibited |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Shipped only with an official licence |
| E-cigarettes and electronic shisha | Their entry is banned in the Sultanate |
| Medicines | In a personal quantity with the doctor’s prescription |
| Drones and radio communication devices | Need the competent authority’s approval before shipping |
| Paints, aerosols, gas cylinders and petrol | Not loaded in the furniture truck |
| Plants, seeds and live animals | With health certificates and an import permit |
| Gold, cash, passports and title deeds | They travel with you, not with the shipment |
| Counterfeit goods and unlawful publications | Seized and confiscated |
The full list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering shipments from Dammam in Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa and Salalah

The truck’s job does not end at the border or at a warehouse in the capital. Our delivery is to the address: the vehicle reaches the door of the home, the crew takes the pieces down into the rooms, and assembles what was dismantled if you ask for it. Oman is a long country, with more than 1,200 km between Sohar in the north and Salalah in the south, so each town’s time differs by its position from the truck’s point of entry:
| Town | Governorate | Its position and the best road to it |
|---|---|---|
| Muscat, Seeb, Bawshar and Al Amerat | Muscat | The capital and most deliveries; the truck reaches it through the Emirates or through Ibri and Nizwa |
| Sohar | North Batinah | A port and industrial area, about 200 km north-west of Muscat; the Emirates road is the nearest to it |
| Buraimi | Buraimi | Adjoining the city of Al Ain, and the first place a truck crossing from the Emirates reaches |
| Nizwa | Ad Dakhiliyah | About 150 km inland from Muscat, on the Ibri road coming from the Empty Quarter |
| Ibri | Ad Dhahirah | The first town after the Ramlat Khaliya post, 161 km from the border |
| Sur | South Sharqiyah | About 200 km south-east of Muscat on the coast |
| Duqm | Al Wusta | An economic zone and port, about 500 km south of Muscat |
| Salalah | Dhofar | About 1,000 km south of Muscat, and its time is two days longer |
An Omani address is written with the wilayat, then the area, then the way number and the building number. Send with it a map location and an Omani mobile number that the consignee answers, and tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, and the width of the street if it is narrow. Destination details are on the shipping to Oman page, and the comprehensive article for all the Kingdom’s cities is shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Oman.
Express shipping from Dammam to Oman
Express shipping with us is not a promise of arrival within hours; it is an arrangement that removes the waiting days from the journey. The road itself cannot be shortened, since the distance is fixed and the border procedures are fixed. What can be shortened is what comes before the road and after it, and it takes three forms depending on the shipment:
- An immediate dedicated truck: loaded and out on the same day without waiting for other shipments, so it reaches Muscat in about 3 days.
- Papers ahead of the truck: we file the declaration and book the crossing slot before loading, so the truck arrives with the crossing expecting it.
- Air for light items: an urgent parcel, document or suitcase flies from King Fahd Airport and is delivered in Muscat within one to 3 days.
Any provider that promises to deliver a home’s furniture in Muscat within one day from Dammam is promising what the road does not allow. The table of times for each destination is on the transit times page.
Services for individuals, companies and official bodies
The kind of service follows the owner of the shipment. A household wants its furniture to arrive unbroken, a business wants a firm date and a proper invoice, and a government office wants every step on record. So each group gets an arrangement built on what it asks for:
| Customer | What they ask about most | What we arrange for them |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Packing, the final price and the arrival date | An estimate from photos or a visit, an itemised price, and an assembly crew in Oman |
| Factories and suppliers | Regular trips and the certificate of origin | Trucks on a fixed schedule, a tax invoice, and follow-up of the declaration |
| Contractors and service companies | Moving equipment and bringing it back | Flatbeds and low-beds, temporary admission papers, and a return trip |
| Official bodies and missions | Privacy and delivery reports | A dedicated locked truck, a signed report, and coordination of exemption letters |
Is sea freight from Dammam port to Oman worthwhile?
King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam faces the Arabian Gulf, and a ship leaving it passes the Strait of Hormuz to reach Sohar port. The sailing is short, but the container waits for the ship’s date, is then cleared in two ports, and is then moved by truck to the address. The time becomes 10 to 20 days, and the land truck will have delivered more than a week before that. That is why we offer sea for heavy commercial containers and equipment whose owner is in no hurry, and do not advise it for furniture, parcels or cars. The service is on the sea freight page, and the comparison between methods on the shipping methods comparison page.
Air freight from Dammam to Oman

Air freight leaves from King Fahd International Airport north-west of Dammam and arrives at Muscat International Airport. Flying time between the two airports is under two hours on a direct flight, and the shipment is delivered in Muscat within one to 3 days once clearance at both ends is counted. It is the choice for parcels and urgent luggage, not for furniture.
- What suits it: documents, small parcels, a traveller’s excess suitcases, urgent spare parts, samples and permitted medicines.
- How it is charged: the airline bills whichever is higher, the weight on the scale or the weight worked out from the carton’s dimensions. Check yours with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
- Salalah and Sohar: their air shipments usually pass through Muscat airport and then continue by land or on a domestic flight.
- What is not accepted: flammable liquids, loose batteries, perfumes in quantity and aerosols.
- When to choose land: if the shipment is over 50 kg and not urgent, since the price per kilogram by land starts from SAR 5.5.
Details are on the air freight page.
Collection from Dammam’s districts and the neighbouring towns
The crew comes to your address in any district of Dammam: Al-Faisaliyah, Ash-Shati, Al-Mazruiyah, Uhud, An-Nur, Ar-Rayyan, Taybah, Al-Fayha, Al-Jalawiyah, Badr and King Fahd Suburb. We collect from the other Eastern Province towns at the same price or with a collection line stated in the offer, and the shipment is added to the Dammam trip:
| Town | Approximate distance from Dammam | How it is collected |
|---|---|---|
| Khobar and Dhahran | 15–25 km | In the same Dammam round |
| Qatif, Saihat and Safwa | 20–40 km | On the same day |
| Ras Tanura | About 70 km | By appointment before the loading day |
| Jubail and Jubail Industrial City | About 95 km | A truck loads directly from the site |

Steps for shipping from Dammam to Oman
- The request: you send on WhatsApp photos of what you are shipping, your district in Dammam or your town in the Eastern Province, and the Omani wilayat.
- The estimate: we work out the volume, suggest a dedicated or shared truck, and set the crossing that best suits your address.
- The price: you receive a starting figure for each line: packing, haulage, clearance and unloading.
- The papers: you send copies of the ID and the consignee’s documents, and we prepare the list of contents and the export declaration.
- Loading: the crew arrives on time, dismantles, packs, numbers and loads, and you receive a collection receipt.
- The crossing: the truck passes the Saudi crossing, then the Emirates or the Empty Quarter, and your contact informs you at each stamp.
- Omani clearance: the import declaration is presented and any charges are paid.
- Delivery: the shipment reaches the door, is unloaded and assembled, and you sign the delivery report after checking.
Safety controls, tracking and insurance
The safety of a shipment on the road starts with the truck itself. No vehicle leaves Dammam before its tyres, brakes and body locks are checked, and none is loaded above its legal weight, because the weigh stations on the road stop an offender and delay everything on board. The driver keeps to rest hours on a road more than a thousand kilometres long. Inside the body, heavy items are placed at the bottom, the load is tightened with straps, and every gap is filled so that pieces do not move under braking.
- Tracking: by the shipment number and messages from one contact who knows your file. Details are on the track your shipment page.
- Documentation: photos of the pieces before packing, a photo of the load before the door is locked, and the seal number on the receipt.
- Insurance: your choice, priced as a share of the value you put on the shipment. On a road this long we recommend it for costly furniture, trade goods and cars. Cover and exclusions are on the cargo insurance page.
- Changing the date: if you need to postpone delivery in Oman, tell your contact before the truck reaches the wilayat, and the shipment is held until the day that suits you.
- On receipt: count the cartons against the inventory list, and write any remark in the report before signing it.
Shipping from Oman to Dammam
The road works in both directions, and many of our trucks return loaded. We collect from your address in Muscat, Sohar or Salalah through our crew there, clear at the borders, and deliver in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Qatif and Al-Ahsa. A Saudi returning from work in the Sultanate brings in used furniture on a list of contents. A product of Omani origin enters the Kingdom with no customs duty on a certificate of origin. A car coming from Oman to be registered in the Kingdom has age and specification conditions, and we go over those in force with you before it moves.
Other destinations we serve from Dammam

| Bahrain | King Fahd Causeway | shipping company from Dammam to Bahrain |

| The other Gulf states | Depending on the country | shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states |
Tips before you ship to Oman
- Start arranging two weeks before your travel date, as the consignee’s papers in Oman may need days.
- Write the list of contents yourself first, room by room, then match it against the crew’s list.
- Set aside what travels with you in a clearly marked bag so that it is not packed with the furniture.
- Photograph appliances while they are working before disconnecting them; the photo settles any dispute after arrival.
- Tell us what is new in its carton, as hiding it among used items exposes the shipment to full inspection.
- Make sure someone will be at the home in Oman on the arrival day, with a copy of your ID.
How do you choose a shipping company from Dammam to Oman?
The questions you ask in the first call show you the difference between a carrier that knows this line and one that sells a number. Ask, and compare the answer with the table:
| Question | A reassuring answer | An answer that calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Where does the truck cross? | Asks about your wilayat, then names the crossing | “At the border”, with no name |
| How long does it take? | A range in days that separates dedicated from shared | A few hours for a whole home |
| What does the price include? | Written lines: packing, haulage, clearance and unloading | A total figure that changes on loading day |
| Who delivers in Oman? | A crew that unloads and assembles at the address | “You collect from the warehouse” |
| What are the papers? | A specific list by the type of your shipment | “You need nothing” |
| What is your legal status? | A commercial registration and a stamped collection receipt | A social media account only |
Common mistakes in shipping from Dammam to Oman
- Agreeing a price before naming the wilayat, then finding that Salalah is not like Sohar.
- Leaving dismantled furniture in a humid yard the night before loading, so the wood swells.
- Sending a factory product with no certificate of origin, so a duty is collected that could have been avoided.
- Shipping a car before obtaining the export certificate, or at an age that is not registered in the Sultanate.
- Putting aerosols or a gas cylinder inside a kitchen carton.
- Giving only a Saudi mobile number for the consignee, so the distribution driver cannot reach them.
- Not informing the compound’s management of the truck’s entry time, so half the loading day is lost.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Dammam to Oman
How much does shipping from Dammam to Oman cost?
Prices start from SAR 32 for a parcel up to 5 kg, SAR 140 for a carton, SAR 550 per cubic metre in a shared truck, SAR 1,700 for a bedroom, SAR 2,950 for the furniture of a two-bedroom flat, and SAR 1,100 for a car on a carrier. The figure rises the farther the delivery town lies from Muscat. For an exact price send photos of your shipment to 0552803439.
How many days does a shipment need from Dammam to Muscat?
A dedicated truck arrives in 3 to 4 days from the loading day, and a shared truck in 5 to 7 days because it waits for its load to fill. Air freight from King Fahd Airport needs one to 3 days. Delivery in Salalah adds about two days to delivery in Muscat.
Which crossing does a truck leaving Dammam use?
It has two options. The first is the Batha crossing into the Emirates, then entry into Oman from the Buraimi side or the Batinah coast, which is the shortest way to Sohar and Muscat. The second is the Empty Quarter crossing facing the Omani Ramlat Khaliya post, with only one border. We set the crossing once we know the delivery town.
How far is Dammam from Muscat by road?
About 1,120 km through the Batha crossing and the Emirates. The road through the Empty Quarter crossing is longer than that, but it crosses a single border and enters Oman at the town of Ibri.
Do I pay customs on my used household furniture?
Usually not. The used furniture and belongings of someone moving to live in the Sultanate enter exempt, provided there is a detailed list of contents and proof of residence or work there. New pieces still in their cartons may be treated as goods.
What charges apply to commercial goods?
Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin cross with no customs duty when a certificate of origin accompanies them. Foreign goods carry the unified Gulf duty of 5% if it was not paid when they first entered the Gulf. Oman collects 5% value added tax on new goods.
Do you move cars from Dammam to Oman?
Yes, on an open or enclosed carrier, with the price starting from SAR 1,100. The car is secured by its four wheels and photographed before loading, and we review the export certificate and the age condition with you before it moves.
What is the condition for registering a used car in Oman?
The rule in practice is that the Royal Oman Police ask for an export certificate issued by the authority that registered the car in the Kingdom, and that a private car more than 7 years old is not registered. Both conditions can change, so we confirm what applies to your car before shipping.
Do your shipments reach Salalah?
Yes. Salalah lies in Dhofar governorate, roughly 1,000 km beyond Muscat to the south, which adds around two days to the trip. Prices to it begin at SAR 50 for a parcel and SAR 2,300 for a bedroom.
Which papers do I prepare before shipping?
For furniture: a copy of the ID or Iqama, proof of the consignee’s residence in Oman, and a list of contents. For goods: a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. For a car: the registration, the export certificate and the owner’s ID. We prepare the export declaration and the transit paperwork.
Do you accept a single carton or one suitcase?
Yes. There is no minimum shipment. A parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 32 and a carton from SAR 140, both collected from your door in Dammam and delivered to the consignee’s address.
Is sea freight from Dammam port to Oman suitable?
Only for heavy commercial containers. The ship passes the Strait of Hormuz to Sohar port, but waiting for the sailing and clearance in both ports makes the time 10 to 20 days. A truck beats it by more than a week for furniture, parcels and cars.
Is there air freight from Dammam to Muscat?
Yes, from King Fahd International Airport to Muscat International Airport in one to 3 days. The price starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
Do you pack the furniture and assemble it on arrival?
Yes. The crew dismantles and packs at your home in Dammam, and the delivery crew in Oman unloads the pieces and assembles them in the rooms. All of it is written as a line in the price before loading.
Do you ship from Oman to Dammam?
Yes. We collect from your address in Muscat, Sohar or any wilayat, and deliver in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail and the other Eastern Province towns by the same road.
