Who ships from Madinah to Kuwait, and what do they ship?
Kuwaitis visit Madinah all year round, and many of them come by road in their own cars, along the very road our trucks take. They visit the Prophet’s Mosque, buy dates and gifts, and go home with more than they brought. Alongside them are Kuwaiti students studying in Madinah, families who keep a home there, and residents whose work ended and who moved to a job in Kuwait. From the other side come traders who buy Madinah dates and sell them in Kuwait’s markets.
So shipments on this route are more varied than on most: a visitor’s suitcase, a carton of Ajwa, a student’s room, a whole home, a car. Each shipper has a method that suits them and saves them money:
| Shipper | What they ship | Most suitable method |
|---|---|---|
| A Kuwaiti visitor | Suitcases, dates and gifts there is no room for | By the suitcase or carton by land, or air for urgent items |
| A visiting group | A whole group’s luggage | Shared load with a numbered tag on every piece |
| A graduating student | Books, clothes and a room’s furniture | Cartons and a few pieces in a shared load |
| A family moving to Kuwait | A full home’s furniture and appliances | Full truck with dismantling and assembly |
| Someone sending to family | Parcels, cartons and personal belongings | Parcels door to door |
| A dates and gifts trader | Ajwa, Safawi, Sukkari, prayer rugs and prayer beads | By the cubic metre or the truck, with an invoice and certificate of origin |
| A car owner | A car for export or transfer | Enclosed car carrier |
Route and transit time from Madinah to Kuwait
Madinah is in the west of the Kingdom and Kuwait lies to its north-east, and the road between them crosses the middle of the country without dropping south. The truck leaves Madinah eastwards on the Qassim motorway, passes Al-Hanakiyah after about 110 km, then reaches Buraydah among the green circular farms. From Qassim it heads north-east to Hafar Al-Batin, then to the Ruqai border post. After clearance it enters Kuwait at the Salmi post and runs about 120 km to Kuwait City.
Non-stop driving on this road takes between 11 and 13 hours. A loaded truck does not cover it in one go: the driver is bound by rest hours, and the border takes its time. So the journey is split over two days, plus the loading day in Madinah and the delivery day in Kuwait.
| Stage | Approximate distance | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Madinah → Qassim | About 520 km via Al-Hanakiyah | The first day on the road; Al-Hanakiyah shipments join it |
| Qassim → Hafar Al-Batin | About 400 km | Driver’s rest and refuelling |
| Hafar Al-Batin → Ruqai | About 100 km | Reaching the post and completing export |
| The Salmi post | — | Kuwaiti clearance and inspection |
| Salmi → the address | About 120 km | Distribution across the governorates and unloading |
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck | 3–4 days | A full home’s furniture and goods |
| Shared load | 4–7 days | One or two rooms, cartons and carpets |
| Suitcases and cartons by land | 4–7 days | Visitors’ luggage and parcels |
| Enclosed car carrier | 4–7 days including export procedures | Cars |
| Air from Madinah airport | One to two days | Documents and urgent parcels |
What lengthens the time?
- Visiting seasons: in Ramadan, the Hajj season and the holidays demand rises, and truck entry to central Madinah is held to tighter hours.
- Waiting for consolidation: a shared load waits for the truck to fill before it moves.
- Border congestion: before the Eids, and when Kuwaiti visitors and Umrah pilgrims return, the queues at Ruqai grow.
- A vague list of contents: “personal effects” with no detail brings a manual inspection.
- An incomplete address: an address without block, street and house delays delivery by a day.
Why does the Madinah truck not pass through Riyadh?
A shipment leaving Jeddah or Makkah for Kuwait normally passes Riyadh and then climbs north. Madinah sits higher on the map, and the Qassim road leaves it directly to the east. So the truck saves hundreds of kilometres and reaches the border a day earlier. That is why the Madinah price and time should not be worked out for you as an extension of the Jeddah route.
Kuwait has two land border posts with the Kingdom. Ruqai is the nearest for a truck coming from Qassim, and it is the one we take on most trips. Khafji is on the Gulf coast, and reaching it from Hafar Al-Batin goes through Nairiyah and lengthens the road, so we choose it only for an address in southern Kuwait or when the queue at Ruqai is long. This is how they differ:
| Comparison | Ruqai ↔ Salmi | Khafji ↔ Nuwaiseeb |
|---|---|---|
| Road from Madinah | Qassim, then Hafar Al-Batin | Qassim, Hafar Al-Batin, then Nairiyah, or via Riyadh |
| Enters Kuwait from | The west | The south, on the Gulf coast |
| Nearest to | Jahra, the Capital, Farwaniya and Hawalli | Ahmadi, Fahaheel, Sabah Al-Ahmad and Khiran |
| When we choose it | On most trips | For southern Kuwait, or when Ruqai is congested |
Shipping prices from Madinah to Kuwait
There is no single price for this route, because the unit of charge changes with the shipment: the piece for a parcel or suitcase, the cubic metre for furniture, the size of the truck for anyone taking it whole, and the kilogram for air freight. The table below shows the lowest starting figures for our services, counted from your door or your hotel in Madinah to the consignee’s door in Kuwait, with transport, clearance at Ruqai and Salmi and delivery to the address included. Send 0552803439 what you want to ship and the name of your area in Kuwait, and the final price comes back to you that same day.
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | Shared load | SAR 90 |
| Carton | Shared load | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase up to 25 kg | Shared load | SAR 230 |
| Belongings by the cubic metre | Shared load | SAR 550 per cubic metre |
| Carpets and soft furnishings | Shared load | SAR 370 |
| Sitting-room set or sofa suite | Shared load | SAR 740 |
| Bedroom | Shared load | SAR 920 |
| Dismantled kitchen | Shared load | SAR 1,100 |
| Small flat’s furniture | Shared load or small truck | SAR 1,380 |
| Villa furniture | Full truck | SAR 3,700 |
| Office equipment and furniture | Shared load | SAR 650 |
| Car | Enclosed carrier | SAR 2,300 |
| Air freight | From Madinah airport | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Documents | Express | SAR 83 |
| Container or truck of commercial goods | By volume and type | Set on request |
Prices quoted in the market for this route are higher on most items: small parcels between SAR 150 and 400, furniture weighing about 500 kg between SAR 1,500 and 2,000, one room’s furniture or a part load between SAR 1,200 and 3,000, a flat’s or villa’s furniture between SAR 2,500 and 4,000 with a whole home reaching SAR 7,000, a car between SAR 3,500 and 8,000, and a load the size of a 20-foot container between SAR 8,000 and 12,000. Express couriers, for their part, advertise between SAR 43 and 91 for the first weight step of a very light parcel, and the figure then rises with every kilogram. So use the table as a point of comparison for any figure you receive, and always ask what it includes.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Volume | Governs furniture and goods. Work it out with the CBM calculator |
| Weight | Governs parcels and air freight |
| Full truck or shared | A full truck is faster and dearer; in a shared load you pay only for your space |
| Dismantling, packing and assembly | Items stated in the price, not added afterwards |
| Collection point in Madinah | A hotel in the central area needs a small vehicle to shuttle to the truck |
| Floor and lift in Kuwait | Whether the lift takes the large pieces, or an exterior hoist is needed |
| Season | Ramadan, the Hajj season and summer see higher demand |
How do you lower the cost?
- Choose a shared load if your date is not pressing.
- Gather your suitcases and cartons into one shipment instead of sending them in batches.
- Ship by the cubic metre if your belongings are many and light.
- Book outside Ramadan and the Hajj season, or two weeks ahead of them.
- Photograph each piece clearly and send the pictures before booking; the tighter the estimate, the smaller the chance the price changes at the truck door.
Land freight from Madinah to Kuwait: when is it the best option?
Land freight is the main method on this route, and the best one for any shipment not pressed by a near date. A closed truck protects the load from sun and dust over a road of 1,200 km. It is loaded at your door and unloaded at the consignee’s door with no airport or port in between, so the load is handled fewer times and the chance of damage falls with it. And it carries what air cannot: large furniture, heavy appliances, cars and equipment.
What remains is choosing between sharing the truck with others and taking it for yourself. They differ in price, in time and in how many times the truck is opened:
| Comparison | Shared load | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Only the space your shipment takes | The whole truck |
| Time | 4–7 days | 3–4 days |
| Departure | Once the truck is full | On loading day |
| Handling | Shipments are sorted at distribution | Loaded once and unloaded once at your home |
| Best for | Suitcases, cartons and one or two rooms | A whole home or a large quantity of goods |
There is a simple yardstick for the choice: once your furniture takes up more than half the truck’s space, having the whole truck is the safer course, and the rate per cubic metre may drop with it too. Send your list and we do the sums and say which of the two fits you. The rest is explained on the land freight page.
What is particular about shipping from Madinah?
Madinah has loading conditions of its own. Its ground is level in most districts, so the truck stops at the door of the house in most of them. But the surroundings of the Prophet’s Mosque are crowded with hotels and pedestrians, and the entry of large trucks to the city centre is regulated by hours set by the traffic department, which tighten in the seasons. So we confirm the hours in force before loading day, and do not promise you an hour that is not ours to give.
Madinah has an international airport, so its air shipments mostly need no road journey to Jeddah. It also has a station on the Haramain high-speed railway, but that is a passenger train and carries no freight. So anyone who came by train or plane and ended up with extra luggage hands it to us in Madinah and travels home light.
| Particular | Its effect | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| The direct Qassim road | The truck does not pass Riyadh | We work out time and price on Madinah’s actual distance |
| Regulated truck entry to the centre | Loading in set hours | We fix the appointment in advance and load in the permitted time |
| Central-area hotels | No room for a truck to park or for long packing | A small vehicle collects suitcases and cartons ready packed |
| An international airport in the city | Air freight leaves from it directly | We hand the shipment over at the airport, and route it via Jeddah if no suitable flight is available |
| Dates | Food goods affected by heat | Ventilated cartons, and loading in the early morning or late at night in summer |
| Distance from the sea | The nearest port is Yanbu, about 220 km away | Land freight is the basis for Kuwait |
Shipping visitors’ luggage from Madinah to Kuwait

A Kuwaiti visitor leaves Madinah with heavier bags than they arrived with. In them are dates, prayer rugs, prayer beads, perfumes and gifts for family and neighbours. Those who came by plane are charged by the airline for every extra kilogram. Those who drove with their family find the boot full before buying anything. And those who came on a group coach have room for a suitcase or two.
The answer is to travel light and let your luggage follow by land. You leave the suitcases and cartons in the hotel luggage room before you check out, and we collect them from there, so you neither wait for us nor delay your journey. You find them at your door in Kuwait a few days after you return.
- Collection from the hotel: it is enough to deposit your pieces with reception or in the luggage room marked with your name and mobile number; our agent counts them, signs a receipt for the count and takes them away.
- A numbered tag on every piece: with the owner’s name, number and area in Kuwait, so the group’s luggage does not get mixed up.
- Suitcase: from SAR 230 up to 25 kg, stretch-wrapped before loading.
- Carton: from SAR 140, double-walled, and we supply it to anyone without one.
- Groups: we charge a group’s luggage by the cubic metre, from SAR 550 per cubic metre, so it all leaves Madinah as a single shipment, and each member then receives their pieces at their own address in Kuwait.
- Home delivery: in any governorate, within 4 to 7 days.
- What not to put in: Zamzam water, cash, gold, passports, and medicines you need on the way.
Anyone who wants their gifts before they arrive, or has something that cannot wait, sends it by air from Madinah airport in one to two days.
Furniture shipping from Madinah to Kuwait

When furniture is shipped, the householder pays for the space it occupies, not for what it weighs. There are two border posts between Madinah and Kuwait, and at either one the inspector may ask for a side of the load to be opened before it is sealed up again. That is why packing, numbering and the list of contents are the core of the service rather than an addition to it: they are what brings the furniture through intact and past customs without being held. Our first step is a survey, from photos or a visit to the home, which gives us the volume, the pieces needing dismantling and the spot where the truck will stand.
The master bedroom needs the most care in the home. It has a wide bed and a heavy mattress, a wardrobe with doors and mirrors, and a dressing table with glass. The mattress goes into a sealed bag that keeps out dust and damp for the whole journey. The mirrors are wrapped in bubble wrap, then reinforced cardboard, and carried upright. And the wardrobe is taken apart into numbered panels, so the team in Kuwait puts it back as it was.
| Item | How it is prepared |
|---|---|
| Mattresses | In sealed bags, loaded flat or upright with nothing heavy on top |
| Mirrors and glass | Bubble wrap, then reinforced cardboard or a wooden crate, carried upright |
| Bed and wardrobes | Dismantled with panels numbered, and their screws in a bag taped to the piece |
| Sitting-room sets and sofas | Covered with blankets and then stretch wrap, with corners protected by cardboard |
| Carpets | Rolled dry and wrapped in plastic, loaded on top of the furniture, not under it |
| Fridge and washing machine | Emptied and dried a day ahead, with their moving parts secured |
| Air conditioners | Removed by a refrigeration technician, with the two units packed separately |
- Packing materials: blankets, corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap and plastic, protecting against impact and damp.
- A trained team: for large and delicate pieces, workers who know how each is carried and where to hold it.
- Arrangement in the truck: the heavy pieces are stacked at the bottom with the breakables over them and timber spacers in between, then everything is strapped so that no piece shifts or rubs against another on the long Qassim road.
- List of contents for customs: a numbered list of every carton and piece, which you sign and keep a copy of.
- Assembly in Kuwait: on arrival our Kuwait crew brings the pieces in and puts them together, goes down the list with you number by number, and does not leave before gathering up the cardboard and plastic.

Shipping parcels and personal belongings from Madinah to Kuwait
Not everyone who ships is a visitor or relocating. Many send a carton to a relative, a single item they bought, or the belongings of a student who has finished their studies. These need no truck; they are consolidated with the shared load and delivered to the door. You choose the size that suits your number of pieces, and we agree with you a collection time that fits your day.
| Parcel | How it is charged | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | By the piece | SAR 90 | Gifts, prayer beads, copies of the Quran and clothing |
| Carton | By the carton | SAR 140 | Double-walled, not over 30 kg |
| Suitcase | By the suitcase up to 25 kg | SAR 230 | Stretch-wrapped and numbered |
| Large or numerous parcels | By the cubic metre | SAR 550 per cubic metre | Cheapest for more than four cartons |
Personal belongings have their privacy. We seal the carton in front of you or receive it sealed, and it is opened only if customs asks for that. Write on every parcel the consignee’s name, Kuwaiti mobile number and address with block, street and house. Details on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping dates and commercial goods from Madinah to Kuwait
The Madinah region is one of the Kingdom’s largest date-producing regions, and its central market sells Ajwa, Safawi, Sukkari and Medjool. Kuwaiti traders buy from it before Ramadan and the Eids, and online shops send their customers’ orders in batches. Gift goods leave with the dates: prayer rugs, prayer beads, perfumes and incense. The Kingdom and Kuwait are in one customs union, so goods of Saudi origin cross without duty if they carry a valid certificate of origin.
- Studying the goods: we learn the type, quantity and packaging first, then set the right truck and packing.
- Units: by the cubic metre or pallet in a shared load, and by the truck for quantities.
- Dates: in ventilated cartons on pallets, away from perfumes and detergents, and loaded in the early morning in summer.
- Labelling: in Arabic with production and expiry dates. We confirm with the importer what the food authority in Kuwait requires before loading.
- Certificate of origin: it is obtained before the goods are loaded; without it the item cannot be shown to be Saudi or Gulf-made, and so it is not exempted from duty.
- Foreign goods: carry the unified Gulf duty of 5% if it was not paid when they entered the Gulf.
- The importer: needs a commercial licence and an import licence in Kuwait.
For those who ship regularly we schedule fixed trips, which lowers the cost of each shipment. Details on the commercial shipping page.
Shipping electrical appliances and electronics from Madinah to Kuwait
The main risk to appliances on this journey is not a fall but constant shaking: the truck is on the move for two days between Madinah and Kuwait, and an unsecured appliance can work a screw loose or snap a hinge before it gets there. That is why no appliance goes into the truck as it is; each kind is made ready in its own way, following its maker’s instructions:
- Screens: the original carton protects them best, and failing that a wooden crate lined inside; they stay standing the whole way, and their place is at the top of the load, never the bottom.
- Computers and phones: they stay in their boxes, and each box goes into a larger carton with the gaps filled; the cables and accessories get a numbered bag of their own.
- Large household appliances: secured in the truck with straps and wooden spacers, with nothing loaded on top.
- New ones: declared with their invoice and not mixed with used furniture.
- Electricity: no transformer is needed in Kuwait; the current there is 240 volts and the sockets are the type used in the Kingdom, so your appliances run just as they did in Madinah.
- Valuables: photographed while working, with their value declared and insured.
Car shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
The car travels inside an enclosed car carrier from Madinah to Kuwait, so it arrives with its odometer as it left and free of the road’s dust and grit. It is inspected and photographed from every side before loading, and its condition is recorded in a report you sign. It is then secured by its wheels with straps that stop it moving, and its paintwork is protected from rubbing. Before anything else we ask: are you moving it to Kuwait for good, or visiting with it and returning? Each case has its own paperwork:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Method | Inside an enclosed car carrier, or driven by its owner on export plates |
| Price | Starts from SAR 2,300 in the enclosed carrier |
| Time | 4–7 days including export procedures |
| Final export | An export certificate from the traffic department after settling fines and surrendering the plates |
| Age of the car | Kuwait requires that a used car coming in be no older than a set age, and we check the rule in force against your car before it is shipped |
| Customs duty | 5% of the value if its duty has not already been paid in the Gulf |
| A visitor | Enters with the car on its Saudi plates and insurance covering Kuwait, with no export |
| Before loading | A car empty of belongings, with a quarter tank of fuel |
Two pages go further: car shipping from Saudi Arabia, an article that gathers the general conditions, and the car shipping page, which describes how cars are carried.
Kuwaiti customs and the documents required
A shipment is cleared twice on this road: once for export when it reaches the Ruqai post, and once for import at Salmi on the Kuwaiti side. Inspection is seldom what causes a hold-up; more often it is an absent document. So we open your file and go through it while the truck is still in Madinah, letting you know what it lacks when you still have time to fetch it. At the border a clearing agent of ours stays with the transaction until the truck has crossed to the far side.
| Type of shipment | Duty in Kuwait | Documents |
|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings | Exempt for someone relocating | ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Civil ID, and a detailed list of contents |
| Personal suitcases and parcels | Exempt within personal-use limits | Description and value of the contents, and the consignee’s name, address and number |
| Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin | Exempt | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and export declaration |
| Foreign goods | 5% if not already paid | Invoice, packing list and proof the duty was paid |
| Car | 5% if not already paid | Registration, export certificate and the owner’s ID |
If your shipment includes new consumer products, they must conform to Gulf standards. The shipping documents page details each paper, and the customs clearance page walks through the steps.
What cannot be shipped to Kuwait or needs a permit
A shared truck carries several people’s shipments, and a single carton with a banned item in it is enough to have the whole truck held at Ruqai or Salmi. So before you tape your cartons shut, run through the table below, and check with us first about anything you have doubts over:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Zamzam water | Its export is restricted; not shipped with luggage or goods |
| Alcohol and narcotics | Prohibited |
| Pork and its products | Prohibited |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited or under licence |
| Medicines | Personal quantities with a prescription |
| Drones and radio equipment | With a prior permit |
| Dates and foodstuffs in commercial quantities | With labelling, shelf life and food procedures |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Not shipped with furniture; keep them with you |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Salmiya and every city in Kuwait

Once the truck is through the Salmi post, distances shrink. Kuwait is a small country, and its farthest inhabited address lies no more than about two hours from the post, which is why a shipment is delivered on the crossing day or the one following it. Because entry is from the west, the order of distribution is Jahra first, then the Capital and Farwaniya, then Hawalli and Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and lastly Ahmadi in the south.
| Governorate | Main areas | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Jahra | Qasr, Waha, Saad Al-Abdullah | The first stop after the post |
| The Capital | Shuwaikh, Dasma, Kaifan, Sharq | Homes, companies and warehouses |
| Farwaniya | Khaitan, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Ardiya | Densely populated apartment blocks |
| Hawalli | Salmiya, Jabriya, Bayan, Mishref | Residential towers, with a hoist for upper floors when needed |
| Mubarak Al-Kabeer | Qurain, Adan, Sabah Al-Salem | Detached houses that are easy to park at |
| Ahmadi | Fahaheel, Mangaf, Mahboula, Sabah Al-Ahmad | The last stop, or the first if the truck enters from Nuwaiseeb |
Salmiya is an example of what needs arranging before arrival. Most of its housing is towers and tall blocks, and a passenger lift takes neither a dismantled wardrobe nor a wide mattress. So we ask the building management about the service lift and its hours. If that is not enough, we arrange an exterior hoist that lifts the pieces to the balcony with the management’s approval, and that is stated in the price before loading. The team then brings the furniture into the flat, assembles the wardrobes and beds, and checks the pieces against the list. Destination details on the shipping to Kuwait page.
Our services for individuals, companies, government bodies and embassies
An individual’s shipment and an organisation’s shipment travel in the same truck, but what each asks for is different. An individual wants a date that fits their travel, someone who answers their call, and belongings that arrive as they handed them over. An organisation wants a document for every stage, and a date other people’s work is built on. So we assign every shipment a single contact, and put what we commit to in writing before loading.
| Customer | What they ship | What we provide |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Luggage, furniture and personal belongings | Flexible dates, privacy in handling, and follow-up to the door |
| Companies and shops | Goods, equipment and office furniture | Scheduled trips for repeat shipments, and a tax invoice |
| Government bodies | Devices, materials and printed matter | Delivery against a signed record, and a report on the shipment’s stages |
| Embassies and consulates | Belongings of transferred staff, and documents | Prior coordination of documents, and privacy in handling |
| Visiting groups | Group luggage | Collection from hotels, and a numbered tag on every piece |
Air freight from Madinah to Kuwait

For when the shipment cannot spend days on the road. Madinah has Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, with direct flights of about two hours to Kuwait International Airport. We collect the shipment from your door or hotel, hand it over at the airport, and it reaches the consignee in one to two days including clearance at both airports. If no flight suits the size of the shipment, we route it through King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, which may add a day.
Air is chosen when the shipment has a deadline or is sensitive: a contract waiting for a signature, a spare part that work depends on, or a gift for an occasion close at hand. We pack it tightly enough to withstand handling at both airports, and follow it by its air waybill number from take-off to delivery.
- For whom: documents, urgent parcels, small electronics, commercial samples, and the carton of dates its owner wants before an occasion.
- Charging: on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Work it out with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
- Insurance: available for high-value shipments, as a percentage of the declared value.
- What it does not suit: furniture, large appliances, liquids, perfumes in quantity and loose batteries.
Details on the air freight page, and in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
Land or air freight: which do you choose?
The question is not which is better, but which suits your shipment. Land carries everything at a lower price and arrives in days. Air carries what is light and urgent and arrives in a day or two at a higher price. This comparison sums up the choice:
| Criterion | Land freight | Air freight |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | The lowest, charged by the piece or by volume | Higher, charged by the kilogram |
| Time | 3–7 days | One to two days |
| Suits | Furniture, luggage, goods and cars | Documents and light, urgent parcels |
| Practical limit | No limit on volume | Above 50 kilograms land becomes far cheaper |
| Point of departure | From your door | From Madinah airport |
Is there sea freight from Madinah to Kuwait?
Madinah is an inland city: Yanbu is its nearest port at about 220 km, then Jeddah at about 420 km, and both ports are on the Red Sea, whereas Kuwait sits at the far northern end of the Arabian Gulf. That means a ship has to go all the way round the Arabian Peninsula, spending two to three weeks on a trip a truck finishes in days. So no furniture, luggage or cars are sent by sea on this route, and the sea is left with nothing but heavy commercial cargo whose owner does not mind waiting. A full comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Collection from Madinah’s districts and governorates
Wherever your home is in Madinah, the packing and loading crew comes to you: in Quba or Awali, in Aziziyah or Khalidiyah, in the Difa, King Fahd or Salam districts, and in Aqool and Shuran as well. The governorates belonging to the region are covered too, and we attach their shipments to the same Kuwait-bound truck:
| Place | Distance from Madinah | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Central-area hotels | Inside the city | Suitcases and cartons collected from the luggage room by a small vehicle |
| Al-Hanakiyah | About 110 km | On the Qassim road itself, so it is loaded as the truck passes |
| Badr | About 150 km | Collected the day before departure |
| Khaybar | About 170 km | Collected the day before departure |
| Yanbu | About 220 km | Consolidated with Madinah shipments in one trip |
Your day to leave Madinah may come while your place in Kuwait is still unready, or your date may land at the height of the visiting season. Either way your shipment stays in our warehouse in its packing and numbers, and moves only on the date you pick. It is explained on the storage page.
Steps for shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
- Contact: you start with a message holding three things: photos and a description of what you will ship, the name of your district or hotel in Madinah, and the area you live in in Kuwait.
- Itemised price: it reaches you with its items: packing, transport, clearance and delivery.
- Booking: we agree the loading day and an hour at which Madinah allows the truck in, and you give us a copy of your ID and of the Civil ID of whoever will receive.
- Dismantling, packing and numbering: at your location, with a list of contents and photos.
- Loading: into the closed truck, and you take the collection receipt and shipment number.
- Export clearance: at the Ruqai post.
- Kuwaiti clearance: at the Salmi post.
- Delivery: at the address, with unloading, assembly and checking against the list.
Tracking, insurance and the contingency plan
From the moment of loading you have one contact whose name and number you know. They tell you when the truck leaves Madinah, when it passes Qassim, when it reaches the border, when Kuwaiti clearance is finished, and when it will reach your door. So you need not call to ask where your shipment is. Every trip has a fallback: if a truck breaks down we send another, if Ruqai is congested we look at Khafji, and we tell you about any delay before it happens, not after.
- Tracking: by shipment number, with an update at every stage. Details on the track your shipment page.
- Documentation: photos of every piece before packing, and of the loaded truck before it is closed.
- Insurance: yours to take or leave; its premium is a share of the value you declare, and its cover is for what may happen on the road. Explained on the cargo insurance page.
- On receipt: check the shipment and note any remark on the delivery record before signing.
Shipping from Kuwait to Madinah
The trucks that go up to Kuwait come back from it, so the service runs the opposite way as well. Our team in Kuwait collects from the sender’s address, the shipment is cleared at Salmi and then Ruqai, and we bring it to any district of Madinah within truck entry hours. Examples: a Kuwaiti family fitting out a home of theirs in Madinah sends its furniture with its list of contents; a Saudi who has finished working in Kuwait brings his used furniture in exempt; and goods of Kuwaiti origin cross into the Kingdom on a certificate of origin with no duty paid.
Tips before shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
- Write a detailed list of everything you ship; it is your reference at delivery and the customs reference at the border.
- Estimate volume and weight accurately, or send photos and we estimate them; the method and the price are built on that.
- Prepare invoices, the certificate of origin and copies of IDs before loading day, not after.
- Allow for season and weather: book two weeks ahead of Ramadan and the Hajj season, and ship dates outside the midday heat.
- Set aside what you will carry with you: passports, contracts, gold and medicines.
- Write your name and number on every suitcase and carton.
- Ask the building management in Kuwait about the service lift and whether a hoist is allowed before the truck arrives.
How do you choose a shipping company from Madinah to Kuwait?
Every company promises speed and safety, so judge the answer rather than the advert. Before you transfer any deposit, put the six questions below and set what you hear beside the table’s two columns:
| What you ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Time | 3 to 7 days depending on the method | “Within 24 hours” for a whole home’s furniture |
| Price | Itemised after learning the volume and address | An instant figure with no questions |
| Road | Knows the Qassim and Ruqai road and prices on it | Works out the Jeddah distance and time for you |
| Truck | Closed and sealed | Open, covered with a tarpaulin |
| Scope of service | To the door of the home in Kuwait, with assembly | “To the border only” |
| Registration | Commercial registration, a collection receipt and a signed list | A mobile number only |
Common mistakes when shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
- Booking at the end of Ramadan or in the days of the Hajj season, when truck entry hours tighten.
- Putting Zamzam water in suitcases or cartons, so the whole shipment is opened.
- Loading furniture without a list of contents, so it is held up at the border.
- Leaving a group’s suitcases at the hotel without tags, so they get mixed up at distribution.
- Shipping dates in a commercial quantity as personal luggage.
- Shipping a car before asking about the age condition in Kuwait.
- Comparing two prices without comparing what they include.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
How much does shipping from Madinah to Kuwait cost?
The cost varies with what you ship. Prices start from SAR 90 for a small parcel, from SAR 140 for a carton, SAR 230 for a suitcase, SAR 920 for a bedroom, SAR 1,380 for the furniture of a small flat, SAR 3,700 for a villa’s furniture, and SAR 2,300 for a car inside an enclosed carrier. The final figure is fixed only when the shipment’s volume and the area you live in in Kuwait are known, so call 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Madinah to Kuwait take?
Air is the quickest: one to two days. By land a full truck needs 3 to 4 days and a shared load 4 to 7 days. We count the time from the moment of collection at your door or hotel in Madinah until handover at the consignee’s door in Kuwait.
How far is Madinah from Kuwait?
About 1,200 km by road through Qassim, Hafar Al-Batin and the Ruqai border post. Non-stop driving takes between 11 and 13 hours, and the truck splits it over two days.
Does the truck pass through Riyadh?
No. The road from Madinah heads east to Qassim and then north-east to Hafar Al-Batin and Ruqai, so there is no need to drop down to Riyadh. That is what makes the distance hundreds of kilometres shorter than from Jeddah or Makkah.
Which border post does the shipment enter Kuwait through?
Usually from Ruqai to Salmi, the nearest for a truck coming from Qassim. For an address in Ahmadi and southern Kuwait we may send the shipment through Khafji to Nuwaiseeb if that is quicker on the crossing day.
Is there air freight directly from Madinah?
Yes; Madinah does not depend on another city’s airport. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport operates direct flights that reach Kuwait International Airport in about two hours. We turn to Jeddah airport only when we find no flight with room for the size of your shipment.
What is the cheapest way to ship from Madinah to Kuwait?
Sharing a land truck with other shippers. You are billed solely for the room your shipment occupies; in return you wait until the truck is full, which puts arrival at 4 to 7 days.
Do you collect visitors’ luggage from hotels?
Yes. You leave the suitcases and cartons in the luggage room or at reception under your name and number; we collect them against a receipt stating the number of pieces and deliver them to your home in Kuwait. A suitcase from SAR 230 and a carton from SAR 140.
Do you ship Madinah dates to Kuwait?
Yes. Gift cartons travel with luggage within personal-use limits. Commercial quantities are shipped with an invoice, a certificate of origin and an Arabic label, and we confirm with the importer what the food authority in Kuwait requires before loading.
Can Zamzam water be shipped to Kuwait?
No, neither from Madinah nor from any other city. Zamzam water is restricted for export, so it goes into neither luggage cartons nor goods shipments. What is allowed is the dedicated travel pack, which the traveller carries personally.
Is customs paid on used furniture in Kuwait?
In most cases, no. Anyone moving to Kuwait brings in their used furniture and belongings free of duty, provided they present a list itemising the contents together with proof of residence or the Civil ID of the person receiving.
Do you ship cars from Madinah to Kuwait?
Yes. The car is moved from Madinah inside an enclosed carrier, with the price starting from SAR 2,300. Because Kuwait does not accept a used car beyond a set age, we check the rule in force against your car before moving it.
What documents are required?
It depends on the shipment. A car needs its registration, its export certificate and its owner’s ID. Goods need an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. Furniture and luggage need only a list of the contents, along with your ID or Iqama and the Civil ID of the consignee in Kuwait.
Do you deliver in Salmiya and to upper floors?
Yes. We deliver in Salmiya, Hawalli and all six governorates. If the building’s lift cannot take the large pieces, we arrange an exterior hoist with the building management’s approval, and that is stated in the price before loading.
Do you ship from Kuwait to Madinah?
Yes, the service is available the opposite way. Our team takes the shipment from your address in Kuwait, and we then bring it to the district you name in Madinah, at the times when trucks are allowed in.
