Looking for a shipping company from Madinah to Belgium? Home Safe collects Madinah dates, baggage, household cartons, furniture, goods and your car from your home or hotel and delivers them by two means. The first is by sea: a truck covers about 420 km to Jeddah Islamic Port, then a vessel berths at the port of Antwerp, taking four to five weeks to the door. The second is by air: from Madinah airport or via Jeddah airport to Brussels and Liège, a distance of roughly 4,200 km flown in about six hours. Prices start from SAR 23 for an air kilogram, SAR 5,500 for furniture in a shared container and SAR 2,800 for a saloon car on the vessel. Booking number: 0552803439.

Who ships from Madinah to Belgium, and what do they ship?
The Madinah to Belgium line rests on four kinds of people. The first is the visitor who lives in Belgium, prays in the Prophet’s Mosque for some days, then passes by the date market and buys more than a suitcase allows. The second is the resident who worked in Madinah for years and then decided to settle with the family in Brussels or Liège. The third is the student, whether one who finished studying in Madinah and went back, or one accepted at a Belgian university who is leaving. The fourth is the date trader supplying groceries and shops there. This is what each of them ships and how customs treats it:
| Shipper | What they ship | Best method | Status at Belgian customs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor coming from Belgium | Dates, prayer rugs, abayas and gifts | An air carton; larger lots by sea in a shared container | Personal effects; new items at their value |
| Resident moving for good | Home furniture, appliances, books and sometimes a car | A 20 or 40 ft container, or a part load | Transfer-of-residence relief, on its conditions |
| Student | Books, clothes and housing items | A shared sea crate and an air suitcase | Student relief with proof of enrolment |
| Trader in dates and gifts | Ajwa, Safawi, Sukkari and Medjool, with prayer beads and rugs | Pallets in a container, samples by air | Duty by item and 21% tax |
The shipping route from Madinah to Belgium and its transit time
The difference between Madinah and the coastal cities shows at the start of the road. A sea shipment begins with a 420 km overland run before it sees water, and that run has to match the vessel’s date, not come a week ahead of it. So we count the time from the day of loading in your district to the day of unloading in Belgium. These are the stages of a full container:
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Packing and loading in Madinah | Dismantling, packing, numbering and inventory, then loading the truck or container | One to two days |
| The road to Jeddah port | A truck on the Hijrah expressway, about 420 km | Half a day |
| Port procedures | Export declaration, entry to the yard and waiting for the vessel | 3–7 days |
| Sailing to Antwerp | Suez, then the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and the North Sea | 14–20 days |
| Belgian clearance | Import declaration, and the relief file or payment of what is due | 2–5 working days |
| Distribution | From the port to the address, with unloading | One day |
Not every shipment is a full container. A visitor’s cartons share with others, a car has its own vessel, and a carton of Ajwa awaited for Eid cannot bear a month at sea. As for an overland truck to Belgium, we do not rely on it, since its road crosses the borders of many countries. These are the times from Madinah by method:
| Method | Route | Time from Madinah | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full container | Madinah → Jeddah port → Antwerp | 26–36 days | A whole home or a trader’s order |
| Sea part load | A shared container consolidated in Jeddah and sorted near Antwerp | 31–39 days | Family cartons and visitors’ larger baggage |
| RoRo for cars | A carrier to Jeddah, then a car vessel to Zeebrugge | 25–33 days | A car that runs under its own engine |
| Air | Madinah airport or Jeddah airport → Brussels or Liège | 3–6 days | Dates, baggage, parcels and documents |
What lengthens the transit?
- Visiting seasons: in Ramadan and after Hajj Madinah fills with visitors, the time for trucks to enter its centre narrows, and demand for air cargo space rises.
- Missing the vessel: a truck that is a day late for the port’s receiving cut-off waits for the next sailing, which may be a week later.
- The shipping line’s routing: when vessels avoid Suez and sail round Africa, the voyage grows by a week or more, and we ask about that when booking.
Other destinations’ durations sit on our transit times page; for weighing one method against another, see the shipping methods comparison page.
From Madinah via Jeddah port to Antwerp

Between Madinah and the Red Sea there are two roads to two ports. The nearer is Yanbu Commercial Port, about 220 km away, and the farther is Jeddah Islamic Port, about 420 km away. Even so, most of our containers to Belgium leave from Jeddah, because vessels bound for northern Europe call there regularly, which makes it easy to find a sailing close to the date and a confirmed slot. Yanbu we turn to when a sailing from it really does fit the shipment, and we confirm that before booking.
| Comparison | Jeddah Islamic Port | Yanbu Commercial Port |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from Madinah | About 420 km | About 220 km |
| Sailings to northern Europe | Regular, normally every one to two weeks | As available; we check them for each shipment |
| When we choose it | For most furniture, baggage and car shipments | When a vessel from it suits the date and destination |
At the other end is the port of Antwerp. A vessel enters it from the North Sea through the mouth of the River Scheldt and berths at inland quays far from the coast, which puts the port close to the heart of the country: roughly 45 km to Brussels and about 130 km to Liège. The Madinah container, 20 or 40 ft, arrives there with the seal it was closed with. The sailing may be direct, or it may pass through an intermediate port where the container is moved to another vessel, which adds days. How work is done at the Saudi port is in the article international sea freight from Jeddah, and the service is explained on the sea freight page.
The price of shipping from Madinah to Belgium
A shipping bill from Madinah has three parts that are best seen separately. The first is the road from your home to the port or airport. The second is the vessel or the aircraft. The third is what is paid in Belgium for clearance and delivery. The figures in the table concern the second part, and they are the level our services to Belgium start from. The first part we set once we know the volume and the district.
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Date cartons, baggage and samples | Air from Madinah airport or via Jeddah | SAR 23 per kilogram |
| Documents up to one kilogram | Express | SAR 83 |
| Parcel up to 5 kilograms | Express | SAR 110 |
| Furniture and baggage | Sea part load | SAR 5,500 |
| Furniture of a whole home | Full container | SAR 11,000 |
| Saloon car | Sea from Jeddah port | SAR 2,800 |
| Commercial date order | Pallets in a dry or refrigerated container | Set on request |
| Transport from Madinah to the port or airport | By volume and loading location | Set on request |
Market prices in circulation for this line are strikingly far apart. We found no one publishing a tariff from Madinah to Belgium specifically, and what circulates is general figures: an air parcel up to 5 kilograms between SAR 1,800 and 2,300, an electronic appliance up to 20 kilograms by air between SAR 4,500 and 6,500, home furniture by sea between SAR 9,000 and 18,000, a car by sea between SAR 12,000 and 20,000 with clearance, and a goods container from SAR 20,000. General shipping guides mention about SAR 120 for an individual’s small express consignment, and 3 to 7 working days. The gap between those figures and ours is explained by some of them folding Belgian charges, delivery and insurance into one number.
| What sets the price | Its effect on a Madinah shipment |
|---|---|
| Volume or weight | The cubic metre by sea and the chargeable weight by air. Work it out with the CBM calculator |
| The road to the port | 420 km to Jeddah, and the truck fare is split when more than one shipment is combined on one run |
| Nature of the goods | Dates in summer may need a refrigerated container, which costs more than a dry one |
How do you cut the cost?
- Ask for your shipment to join a truck going to Jeddah with other shipments, so you pay your share of the road and not the whole road.
- Buy dates in factory packs of regular shape; a regular carton stacks without gaps, and a gap on an aircraft is paid for.
- Prepare the relief file before loading; it saves the whole 21% tax.
All the factors are explained on the pricing factors page.
What sets shipping from Madinah apart?
Madinah combines two features that rarely go together: an inland city far from the sea, and one with an international airport. An air parcel may leave from it without passing through Jeddah, while a container cannot do without a long overland road. Its residential districts are flat and its streets wide, so a container truck stops in front of most homes. The exception is the central area around the Prophet’s Mosque, with its closely packed hotels and pedestrians at all hours, where the entry of large trucks is regulated by the traffic department at hours that tighten in the seasons. We confirm the hours in force before the loading day.
- An airport inside the city: we hand over the air shipment at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, and divert it to Jeddah airport when we find no flight that suits its size or date.
- No port: every container and every car starts with a truck to the coast, and the truck does not move before the vessel booking is confirmed.
- Central-area hotels: a small vehicle collects from reception, and packing is completed in our warehouse.
- The Haramain train: its station in Madinah serves travellers only, so anyone with heavy baggage hands it to us and boards light.
- Zamzam water: we do not accept it in shipments from Madinah, just as it is not accepted from Makkah; what is allowed is the traveller’s pack carried in person.
Shipping dates and household cartons from Madinah to Belgium

The Madinah region is the Kingdom’s third-largest producer of dates, and its central market sells Ajwa, Safawi, Sukkari and Medjool all year. Madinah Ajwa in particular is a gift that families in Brussels, Antwerp and Liège wait for, and a visitor seldom leaves without cartons of it. In the eyes of European customs the date is a fortunate fruit: under the rules currently applied it is exempt from the plant health certificate required for most fruit, so a packaged personal quantity enters without complication. We confirm what is in force before shipping. Alongside the dates travel the household cartons of clothes, books and kitchenware, inventoried in the same way.
| Shipment | Method | What it needs | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Date cartons for a visitor or family | Air | Sealed factory packs and a reinforced outer carton | SAR 23 per kilogram |
| Dates with many household cartons | Sea part load | Dates kept apart from clothes, with moisture-absorbing sachets | SAR 5,500 for the part load |
| Dates in a commercial quantity | Pallets in a container, refrigerated in summer | Invoice, certificate of origin and label, and a registered Belgian importer | Set on request |
- Packing dates: we do not put a date carton under a suitcase or next to perfume or detergent, because dates pick up smells and are easily crushed.
- Loading in summer: we collect dates early in the day or after sunset, so they do not sit for hours in a hot vehicle body.
- Numbered household cartons: each carton carries a clear number on two sides, matched by a line in the schedule giving what is inside, how many and its approximate value.
- Collection from your location: from the home, the hotel or the date shop itself; many visitors ask the seller to hand their purchases to us directly.
- Date sweets: maamoul and anything made with ghee or milk we review before it goes in, because products of animal origin face strict limits at the European Union’s borders.
The quantity a household eats and gives to relatives is a personal quantity, whereas twenty cartons of one variety with wholesale invoices are commercial goods even if marked “gifts”, and we prepare a trader’s papers for them from the start.
Professional packing for appliances and high-value pieces
A Madinah shipment is exposed to what a coastal city’s shipment is not: hundreds of kilometres on the road before the port, then handling in the consolidation warehouse, then weeks in a container whose temperature swings between two seas. So we pack on the assumption that a carton will be lifted and set down at least ten times. Valuable and sensitive pieces get special treatment, and we send you their photographs after packing and before the container is closed:
- Electronics: screens, computers and audio equipment, in a double-wall carton with foam that stops vibration and sachets that absorb moisture.
- Home medical devices: their moving parts are secured, the specification sheet is enclosed, and they are written in the list by name and number.
- Antiques, paintings and handwritten copies of the Quran: a made-to-measure wooden crate of heat-treated timber bearing the ISPM 15 stamp that European ports require.
The types of material and how they are used are in the packing guide, and securing the load inside the container is on the packing and lashing page.
Shipping furniture of every kind, and transfer-of-residence relief in Belgium
We ship bedrooms, majlis sets, sofas, dining tables, bookcases, household appliances and office furnishings. The crew dismantles what can be dismantled and numbers the screws and hinges in bags taped to their piece, then our agent reassembles in Belgium if you ask. And is tax paid on the furniture? The answer is set by the relief conditions Belgian customs applies to anyone moving their place of residence from outside the European Union. These are the ones currently applied, and we review what is in force before loading:
| Condition | Detail |
|---|---|
| Length of residence abroad | At least 12 consecutive months outside the European customs territory |
| Possession and use | The goods have been with you and in use for at least 6 months before departure |
| Deadline for bringing them in | Within 12 months of the day you settle in Belgium |
| Shipping before you arrive | Allowed with an undertaking to settle within 6 months, with a financial security |
| Restriction after entry | For a full year the goods are not lent, pledged, hired out or sold without notifying customs in advance |
From Madinah, your residence is proved by the lease of your home, the residence permit pages, the final exit visa and the employer’s letter. From Belgium, your settling is proved by registration at your municipality. We write the schedule in French if your address is in Liège, Charleroi or Namur, in Dutch if it is in Antwerp or Ghent, and in either for Brussels. Service details are on the furniture shipping page.
Full container, part load or mixed shipment?
Many Madinah shipments are mixed: half furniture, a quarter appliances, and the rest cartons of dates and clothes. There is nothing against combining them in one container as long as the list separates their categories. After that the decision belongs to volume: whoever fills a container takes it alone, and whoever does not shares with others and pays only for their own cubic metres.
| Comparison | Part load | 20 ft container | 40 ft container |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suitable volume | Up to 15 m³ | 15–28 m³ | 30–60 m³ |
| Example from Madinah | Family cartons, a bedroom and dates | A flat of two or three rooms | A villa, or a home with a car |
| Time | 31–39 days | 26–36 days | 26–36 days |
| Price starts from | SAR 5,500 | SAR 11,000 for the furniture of a whole home | Set on request |
A full container has an advantage particular to Madinah: it is sealed in front of your home and not opened in Jeddah, so there is no second handling after 420 km of road. Internal dimensions are on the container sizes page, and container rates from the port are in the article container shipping prices from Jeddah.
Parcels, documents and gifts from Madinah to Belgium
A small parcel is the simplest thing to ship and the quickest. A certificate leaving a Madinah university attested, to be presented in Leuven; a box of fine Ajwa for a friend in Antwerp; an outfit for a child born in Liège. All travel by express from the sender’s hand to the consignee’s against a signature.
- The charge: documents up to one kilogram from SAR 83, a parcel up to 5 kilograms from SAR 110, and above that from SAR 23 per kilogram.
- A gift from one individual to another: the rule currently applied exempts a non-recurring consignment if its value does not exceed 45 euros, and above that tax is charged. We verify the limit in force before sending.
- Shop purchases: value added tax is charged on every commercial parcel even when its value is small.
- The Belgian address: street name, building number and the box number inside the building if there is one, a four-digit postcode and a local mobile number.
The service is explained on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping commercial goods from Madinah to Belgium
Madinah’s exports to the Belgian market begin with dates and do not end there. With them go date paste and date syrup, prayer beads and prayer rugs, oriental perfumes and incense, and books and copies of the Quran. We collect from the factory, the warehouse or the central market, combine purchases from more than one supplier in one shipment, and prepare the papers before the goods leave Madinah.
- Importer number: the Belgian buyer needs a registered European customs identification number before the vessel berths.
- Foodstuffs: a label on every pack in the language of the region of sale, with ingredients, country of origin, weight, expiry date and the importer’s name.
- Duty and tax: the duty follows each item’s heading in the European tariff, and value added tax is added, which is 21% on most goods and lower on some foodstuffs.
- Timing: a Ramadan order sails two months ahead, and a late one is split: a small part by air to fill the shelf and the rest by sea.
A regular supplier gets a monthly schedule and a price fixed for the season, with temporary storage and distribution to more than one shop inside Belgium. Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Shipping cars and vehicles from Madinah to Belgium
A Madinah car is not driven to the port by its owner. A car carrier takes it from in front of the home and covers the road to Jeddah without adding a kilometre to its odometer. Before that we inspect it with you: we photograph the body from its four sides, the roof and the interior, record the odometer reading and any old scratch, and make sure the engine, brakes and starter battery work. It is then handed over at the port in one of these ways:
- RoRo, open inside the vessel: the car is driven onto an enclosed deck of a car vessel and lashed by its wheels, and comes off at Zeebrugge on the North Sea coast. It is the most economical way for a running car.
- Closed container: the car is secured with straps and chocks inside a 20 ft container that is sealed and goes to Antwerp. It suits luxury and classic cars, motorcycles and anything whose engine has failed.
Sea freight for a saloon starts from SAR 2,800 from Jeddah port, a 4×4 or a van costs more because the charge is by volume, and the carrier from Madinah to the port is set on request. We ask that only a quarter of the tank remains and that the car is free of personal items. The two methods are explained on the RoRo car shipping and container car shipping pages.
Then comes the Belgian bill, which is far heavier than the sea freight. The rule currently applied is 10% customs duty on the value of the car plus its freight, and on top of the total 21% value added tax, unless the car comes in among the belongings of someone moving residence under the relief conditions. After release come a technical inspection, local insurance, and a registration tax that differs between Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. A car built to Gulf specifications may be asked for individual approval. And Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent have low-emission zones that some older models are barred from. The general conditions are in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia.
Belgian customs and the documents required
Every shipment passes two customs gates. The first is Saudi, at Jeddah port or the airport, where we handle the export declaration. The second is Belgian, at Antwerp, Zeebrugge or the arrival airport, and is handled by a licensed broker who works with us there. Belgium applies the common European customs tariff and adds its national value added tax at 21%. The papers required differ with the shipper’s status:
| Type of shipment | Documents | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A visitor’s baggage and dates | Passport copy, a schedule of contents with values, and the consignee’s address and mobile | Dates are written by weight and number of packs |
| Furniture of someone moving residence | Passport, proof of residence in the Kingdom, registration at the Belgian municipality and a signed schedule | The name on the bill of lading matches the passport |
| Dates and commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and the importer’s European number | The label is reviewed before packing |
| Car | Registration document, export certificate from the traffic department, passport and purchase invoice | Handed over without Saudi plates |
You will find every paper described on our shipping documents page, and how a release proceeds step by step on the customs clearance page.
What is not shipped from Madinah to Belgium, or needs a permit
What is barred on this line is of two kinds. One is barred by the receiving country, and first in it is food of animal origin, on which the European Union is strict with travellers and parcels. The other is barred by the carrier, such as materials that may not board an aircraft. A visitor usually errs in the first, because a tin of local ghee or a piece of cheese looks like an innocent gift. These are the main items:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Packaged dates | Allowed in a personal quantity; commercial with its papers |
| Ghee, cheese, meat and powdered milk | Not placed in personal baggage or parcels |
| Honey | In a limited personal quantity; we verify the limit in force |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped; the traveller carries the dedicated pack in person |
| Alcohol-based perfumes, aerosols and loose lithium batteries | Restricted by air; what is permitted goes by sea |
| Oud wood and oud oil | A little for personal use; commercial with a certificate |
| Counterfeits, weapons and decorative swords | Prohibited; the last do not enter without a licence |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Stay with their owner and do not go in the shipment |
Our prohibited items page carries the complete list. Unsure about something? A photo sent to us before the carton is taped settles it.
Delivering Madinah shipments in Brussels, Antwerp and Liège

The sea voyage ends at the quay, and a service begins that the sender in Madinah does not see but by which the consignee judges the whole shipment. Our agent lodges the import declaration, and after release telephones the consignee to agree a day and an hour, then a distribution vehicle of a size that suits the street goes out. We offer delivery in levels: to the door of the building, or inside the flat, or with unpacking, furniture assembly and removal of the empty cartons. These are the distances from the port:
| City | Distance from the port of Antwerp | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Antwerp and its suburbs | Inside the city and up to 25 km | The nearest point to the quay; dealings in Dutch |
| Brussels and its municipalities | About 45 km | A parking reservation for the truck is requested from the municipality days ahead |
| Liège | About 130 km | A city on the River Meuse in the east of the country; dealings in French, and home to the cargo airport |
| Seraing, Herstal and Verviers | Within the Liège area | Combined with the Liège run itself |
| Ghent and Bruges | About 60 km and about 95 km | Two historic centres entered by a small vehicle |
| Charleroi, Namur and Leuven | Between 60 and 110 km | Delivery usually the day after release |
Many of the old houses of Liège and Brussels have narrow fronts and many floors, and their inner staircase has no room for a wardrobe or a sofa. The familiar solution there is a ladder hoist that stands in the street and brings the furniture in through the window. So tell us the floor number, whether the building has a lift, and the width of the door, so that we book the hoist with the truck. Destination details are on the shipping to Belgium page, and the service is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Services for individuals, companies, embassies and government bodies
We do not offer the same service to everyone who calls. A family wants someone to carry the worry of the move for it, a trader wants a date that does not slip past the season, an institution wants papers that pass its financial auditor, and an official body has written procedures that cannot be shortened. Each group has its arrangement, and companies in particular have an adviser who proposes the method after learning the goods, their volume and their frequency:
| Client | What they ask for | What we arrange |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals, families and visitors | Shipping a home, baggage or dates with the least bother | Collection from the location, a price itemised line by line and one person following the file |
| Traders and online shops | Repeat orders and distribution to customers inside Belgium | Consolidation from suppliers, temporary storage, clearance and delivery to each address |
| Companies and factories | Samples, equipment and taking part in exhibitions | Logistics advice, a fixed schedule, a tax invoice and a periodic report |
| Government bodies, embassies and consulates | Event materials on binding dates, and a transferred employee’s belongings | A file with the body’s letter and coordination with its administration |
A diplomat’s belongings are treated in Belgium according to their status and the letters their body issues, so we ask for the letter before shipping, not on arrival.
Air freight from Madinah to Belgium

An air shipment from Madinah has two doors. The first is Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport inside the city, with direct passenger flights to Brussels on some days of the week covering the distance in about six hours, although their schedules change with the seasons and the cargo space on those aircraft is small. The second is King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, to which we move what the Madinah flight cannot take or what needs a larger aircraft, and which has direct and connecting flights. In Belgium the shipment lands at Brussels Airport, or at Liège Airport, which specialises in cargo. The time from collection to the consignee’s door is 3 to 6 days.
- For whom: date cartons awaited before Ramadan and Eid, visitors’ baggage, urgent parcels, documents and traders’ samples.
- The calculation: the airline compares the carton’s weight on the scale with its volumetric weight, which is its dimensions in centimetres multiplied together and divided by 6000, and takes the greater. A date carton is heavy and small, so it is usually charged on its actual weight. Try the volumetric weight calculator.
- The price: from SAR 23 per kilogram, falling as the weight rises, from SAR 83 for a documents envelope and from SAR 110 for a parcel up to 5 kilograms.
- Delivery inside Belgium: the parcel is cleared at the arrival airport and then goes out to any city, normally within one day.
- What does not fly: alcohol-based perfumes in quantity, aerosols, lithium batteries not fitted in their devices, and Zamzam water.
Our air freight page covers the service itself, while the article air freight office in Jeddah describes how cargo is handled at Jeddah airport.
Collection from Madinah’s districts and governorates
Our crew goes to where the shipment is. Inside Madinah we serve Aziziyah, Difa, King Fahd, Salam and Aqool, and Quba, Awali, Khalidiyah and Shuran, and in most of them the truck stops at the door. Outside it we collect from the region’s governorates, and anything on the coast road does not need to come back to Madinah at all:
| Place | Distance from Madinah | How we collect |
|---|---|---|
| Central-area hotels | Inside the city | A small vehicle from reception, at an hour when stopping is allowed |
| The date market and shops | Inside the city | Collection from the seller directly, against the purchase invoice |
| Al-Hanakiyah | About 110 km | Brought in a day ahead and added to the Madinah shipment |
| Badr | About 150 km | On the coast road, joining the truck heading for the port |
| Khaybar | About 170 km | Collected before the departure day |
| Yanbu | About 220 km | Moved from there straight to Jeddah on the coastal road |
Anyone who has handed over their home before their housing in Belgium is ready, or is waiting for municipal registration there to complete the relief file, has their goods kept in a closed warehouse after inventory, and we sail with them when asked. Storage terms are on the storage page, and the other cities we reach are on the service cities page.
Steps for shipping from Madinah to Belgium
- The call: you tell us what you have, your district or hotel in Madinah, and your Belgian address with its postcode.
- Customs status: we ask whether you are a visitor, someone moving residence, a student or a trader, because the papers are built on the answer.
- The estimate: photographs, a video call or a visit, then a price divided into its three parts.
- Booking the vessel or flight: we fix the slot first, and from it work out the truck day and the packing day.
- Packing and inventory: at your location, with the cartons numbered and your signature on the schedule.
- The road: to Jeddah port by truck, or to Madinah airport or Jeddah airport.
- Follow-up: you receive the container number or the air waybill, and a message at each move.
- Clearance and delivery: the agent has the shipment released and agrees the appointment with the consignee, then unloading and a signature.
Tracking, customer service and insurance
For a shipment that covers 420 km by road and then more than four thousand nautical miles by sea, it is not enough to tell its owner “on the way”. We give you a number to check for yourself, and add our own messages at the points the shipping line’s website does not show.
- Tracking: by the container number for sea and the waybill number for air. It is explained on the track your shipment page.
- Answering hours: from 7 am to 11 pm by phone or WhatsApp, and we allow for the time difference with the consignee in Belgium.
- Insurance: optional, charged as a percentage of the value written in the schedule, and covering the road leg, the sea and distribution. Terms are on the cargo insurance page.
Shipping from Belgium to Madinah
The same road is travelled in reverse. A family returning to Madinah after years in Brussels ships its home, a student who finished studying in Liège sends back his books, and a buyer from Belgian shops wants someone to collect on his behalf and combine his parcels.
- By air: into Madinah airport if a suitable flight exists; otherwise into Jeddah airport, from where our own vehicle brings it up to Madinah.
- By sea: from Antwerp to Jeddah Islamic Port, then a truck covering 420 km to your district.

Home Safe’s tips before shipping from Madinah to Belgium
- Start arranging two to four weeks before your date; the vessel booking, the Jeddah truck and the customs file all take time.
- Decide the method before you buy the dates: what will fly, buy at the end of your visit, and what will sail, buy at its start.
- Insure the full home, the car and the appliances; the Madinah route is one stage longer than that of the coastal cities.
- Complete your registration at the Belgian municipality as soon as you arrive, and send us a copy.
How do you choose a shipping company from Madinah to Belgium?
Shipping offices around the central area are many, and most specialise in nearby destinations with no experience of European customs. Five questions show you who really knows this line:
| The question | The answer of one who knows | An answer that calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Which port does the container sail from? | Names the port, the vessel and the receiving cut-off | “From the nearest port”, with no detail |
| What about dates? | Separates personal from commercial quantity and asks about the packs | Accepts any quantity without a question |
| Do I pay tax in Belgium? | Asks about your status and how long you have lived in the Kingdom | “Everything is included”, with no mention of customs |
| Where does the price end? | Writes: to the door in Liège, or to the port | One figure with nothing known about what is inside it |
| What is your legal standing? | A commercial registration and a stamped receipt with the number of pieces and their weight | A representative with no papers and no address |
Common mistakes when shipping from Madinah to Belgium
- Sending the truck to Jeddah before the vessel booking is confirmed, so the container stands in the yard and storage is charged on it.
- Putting a date carton with perfumes and detergents in one bundle.
- Calling twenty cartons of Ajwa meant for sale “personal gifts”.
- Slipping ghee, cheese or a Zamzam pack in among the clothes.
- Shipping furniture before the six-month condition is complete or before municipal registration is arranged.
- Counting a car’s sea freight and overlooking the duty, the tax and the registration tax.
- Forgetting to measure the Belgian home’s staircase and window before shipping a large sofa.

Frequently asked questions about international shipping from Madinah to Belgium
How much does shipping from Madinah to Belgium cost?
The answer follows the method. On an aircraft the kilogram is charged from SAR 23, an express envelope of papers from SAR 83, and a parcel of five kilograms or less from SAR 110. On a vessel out of Jeddah port, part-load furniture starts from SAR 5,500, a container for a whole home from SAR 11,000 and a saloon car from SAR 2,800. Send your list and your Belgian city to 0552803439.
How many days does a shipment spend between Madinah and Belgium?
A container booked for you alone needs 26 to 36 days from your door to the consignee’s, of which 14 to 20 are sailing days between Jeddah and Antwerp. Cartons that share a container with others need 31 to 39 days, because they wait for the box to fill and are then sorted on arrival. An air parcel, by contrast, reaches the consignee in 3 to 6 days.
Madinah has no port, so where does my container sail from?
From Jeddah Islamic Port in most cases, about 420 km from Madinah, which the truck covers in half a day. There is a nearer port at Yanbu, about 220 km away, but we only use it when we find a vessel there that suits your destination and date, since regular Europe services are more frequent at Jeddah.
Does an air shipment leave straight from Madinah airport?
It leaves from there when space is available on a suitable flight. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport has direct passenger flights to Brussels on some days of the week; their schedules change between seasons and the cargo space on those aircraft is limited. Whatever exceeds that space, or is tied to a date the flight does not fit, we move to Jeddah airport or send on a connecting flight.
Do Madinah dates enter Belgium without trouble?
A packaged personal quantity normally does. Dates are among the few fruits that the European rules currently applied exempt from the plant health certificate, unlike most fresh fruit. A commercial quantity is another matter: it needs a registered Belgian importer, a label in the language of the region of sale, an invoice and a certificate of origin. We check what is in force with the broker before packing any order.
I am a visitor from Belgium staying in a hotel near the Prophet’s Mosque; will you take my things from it?
We take them from the hotel lobby. Our staff member comes with a small vehicle, because trucks do not stop in the central area, counts and weighs the pieces, and writes you a receipt with your name as it appears in your passport and your address in Belgium.
Is customs duty charged on my used household furniture when it enters Belgium?
It is not charged if you are moving your place of residence and the relief conditions currently applied fit you: that you have lived outside the European Union for at least 12 consecutive months, that the goods have been in your possession and use for 6 months, and that they enter within 12 months of your settling there. If a condition fails, the duty for the item and 21% value added tax are paid. We verify what is in force before loading.
What is the fastest way to ship furniture to Belgium?
The aircraft is faster without question, as a piece arrives in days. But furniture is bulky, and air freight is charged on volume as much as on weight, so the cost of one room by air comes close to the cost of a whole home by sea.
How do you protect electronic appliances on a journey that lasts a month?
We return the appliance to its original box if there is one; otherwise we make it a double-wall carton with padding that stops it shaking. We add moisture-absorbing sachets, because the inside of a container sweats when it passes from the heat of the Red Sea to the cold of the North Sea.
Does a parcel have a minimum and a maximum weight?
The smallest thing we ship is a documents envelope charged as one kilogram. For an express parcel it is normally preferable that a single piece does not exceed 30 kilograms, so that it can be carried by hand at delivery. Anything above that is not refused; it travels as ordinary air cargo or on a pallet.
Is customs clearance included in the price?
The broker’s fee in Belgium is included in the price whenever we agree on a service that ends at the consignee’s door, and we write it as a visible line. The duties and taxes set by Belgian customs itself, however, are not a freight charge; the consignee pays them according to their status and what is shipped, or is exempted from them if the relief conditions are met.
Do you deliver in Liège and around it, or only in Brussels?
We deliver in Liège and in nearby Seraing, Herstal and Verviers, just as we deliver in Brussels and Antwerp. Liège is about 130 km from the port of Antwerp, so the distribution vehicle reaches it in under two hours after release.
Do you ship a car from Madinah to Belgium?
We do. A car carrier lifts it from your home to Jeddah port, and from there it boards a RoRo vessel bound for Zeebrugge, or is secured in a container to Antwerp. Sea freight for a saloon starts from SAR 2,800 from Jeddah port. On the Belgian side there is 10% duty and 21% tax for anyone not covered by transfer-of-residence relief.
How do I follow my shipment, and is insurance on it required?
You follow it with the container number on the shipping line’s website or the air waybill number on the carrier’s website, and a message reaches you from us each time it moves from one point to the next. Insurance is not required; it is a percentage of the value you declare in the list. We recommend it to the owner of a full home, a car or appliances.
Do you work in the opposite direction, from Belgium to Madinah?
Yes. Our agent collects from the address in Brussels, Antwerp or Liège, then the shipment comes by air to Madinah airport or Jeddah airport, or by sea to Jeddah Islamic Port, and after release we move it to your district in Madinah. Furniture and clothes their owner has used are released as personal effects against their list, and anything new is subject to the duty for its item and 15% value added tax.
