Who ships from Saudi Arabia to Oman, and what do they ship?
Five groups move most of the shipments between the two countries, and each has a load unlike the others. A family moving to Muscat does not need what a factory supplying Sohar’s industrial area needs, nor what someone sending a gift to relatives in Nizwa needs. The table links each shipper to the method that serves them:
| Shipper | What they ship | Best method |
|---|---|---|
| A family moving to live in Oman | Whole-home furniture and appliances | Full closed truck |
| An employee or student | A room, cartons and suitcases | Shared load |
| An Omani returning after work or a visit | Luggage, purchases and gifts | Parcels by land or air |
| A car owner or buyer | One private car or more | Car transporter |
| A factory, trader or online shop | Pallets, goods and customer orders | Full or part truck, air for urgent items |
| A government body or embassy | Office furniture, equipment and documents | Dedicated truck or express |
Services of a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Oman
We offer six services on this line, and each begins at your address in the Kingdom and ends at the consignee’s address in the Sultanate. You pick what matches your shipment, or combine more than one service in a single trip, such as a household’s furniture together with the family car:
- Scheduled land freight: closed trucks with internal lashing straps, full or shared. Details on the land freight page.
- Home and office furniture moving: dismantling, packing and loading, then unloading and assembly in Oman.
- Car transport: saloons, 4x4s, luxury cars and commercial vehicles, on an open or enclosed transporter.
- Parcels, luggage and appliances: from a single carton to dozens, by land or air.
- Commercial goods: by the pallet, by the tonne or by the full truck, with invoice, certificate of origin and clearance.
- Air freight and temporary storage: for urgent items, and for anyone whose home in the Sultanate is not yet ready.
The service that brings all of this together from your door to the consignee’s is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Land routes from Saudi Arabia to Oman

The Sultanate has two land gates from the Saudi side. The first is a direct shared border in the Empty Quarter, and the second passes through UAE territory. The rule we work by is simple: anything bound for central or southern Oman takes the direct road, and anything bound for the far north takes the UAE road. We settle the choice once we know both your city and the consignee’s.
| Comparison | Direct road via the Empty Quarter | Road across the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Saudi post | Rub al Khali post | Batha post |
| Opposite it | Omani Ramlat Khaylah post | Ghuwaifat, then an Omani post near Buraimi or North Batinah |
| Number of crossings | One | Two, with a transit declaration |
| First Omani city | Ibri in Dhahirah | Buraimi, or Shinas and Sohar |
| Destinations served | Ibri, Nizwa, Muscat, Sur, Duqm and Salalah | Buraimi, Sohar, North Batinah and Musandam |
| Character | Open desert with few stations | Populated, well-serviced road |
The direct road is 725 km long between the Batha junction and the wilayat of Ibri: 564 km of it on the Saudi side and 161 km on the Omani side. It spares the truck from crossing a third country, so paperwork shrinks and waiting shortens. The Saudi post has a dedicated cargo yard, and its design capacity is close to a thousand trucks a day. These are the stages of the trip along it:
| Stage | Distance | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| From your city to the Batha junction | Varies by city | Shipments gathered from the cities en route |
| Empty Quarter road | 564 km | Continuous driving at a set speed between the dunes |
| Rub al Khali post ↔ Ramlat Khaylah | — | Saudi export declaration, then Omani import declaration |
| Ramlat Khaylah → Ibri | 161 km | First distribution point inside the Sultanate |
| Ibri → Nizwa → Muscat | About 300 km | Delivery to addresses |
This road is not driven the way populated roads are. Its fuel stations are far apart, and sand creeps over its edges when the wind picks up. So our driver enters it after checking the tyres and filling up with fuel and water at the last station, and the truck body is sealed tightly enough to keep dust away from the furniture.
Shipping time from Saudi Arabia to Oman
The time ranges from 3 to 10 days by land, and the whole difference lies in the starting point. A truck leaving Riyadh or Al-Ahsa is close to the entrance of the desert road, while one leaving Jeddah or Madinah has a day and a half to two days ahead of it before it gets there. These are door-to-door times to Muscat, including packing, clearance and unloading:
| Method | From Riyadh and the Eastern Province | From Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full truck | 3–5 days | 5–7 days | Whole-home furniture and truckload goods |
| Shared load | 5–7 days | 7–10 days | A room or two, cartons and pallets |
| Car transporter | 4–6 days | 5–8 days | Cars |
| Parcels by land | 3–5 days | 7–10 days | Cartons and suitcases |
| Air freight | One to 3 days | One to 3 days | Documents and urgent parcels |
What lengthens the time?
- Delivery city: Salalah, Duqm and Musandam are a day or two beyond Muscat.
- Filling the shared truck: it does not move until it is full, and Oman runs are fewer than UAE runs.
- An incomplete file: the post is deep in the desert, with nowhere nearby to obtain a missing paper.
- Seasons: Ramadan and Hajj in Makkah and Madinah, summer in every city, and the Dhofar khareef from June to September.
- Weather: a sandstorm in the Empty Quarter can halt driving for hours.
Times for other destinations are on the transit times page.
Shipping to Oman from the cities of the Kingdom
We collect from every region of the Kingdom, and all trucks eventually meet at the Batha junction or the Batha post. What sets one city apart from another is the length of the domestic leg before that, along with the airport that air freight leaves from. The table sums up each city and points you to its detailed article where one exists:
| Collection city | Its road to the border | Time to Muscat by full truck | Air freight airport | Detailed article |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | Al-Kharj, then Haradh, then the Batha junction | 3–4 days | King Khalid Airport | Shipping company from Riyadh to Oman |
| Jeddah | About 950 km to Riyadh, then the same road | 5–8 days | King Abdulaziz Airport | Shipping from Jeddah to Oman |
| Makkah | Taif, then about 870 km to Riyadh | 5–7 days | Via Jeddah airport | Shipping company from Mecca to Oman |
| Madinah | Qassim then Riyadh, about 850 km | 5–7 days | Madinah airport, or via Jeddah | Shipping company from Madinah to Oman |
| Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | Al-Ahsa then the Batha junction, or the Batha post for northern Oman | 3–5 days | King Fahd Airport | International shipping company in Dammam |
| Qassim: Buraidah and Unaizah | About 350 km to Riyadh | 4–5 days | Via Riyadh airport | Joins the Riyadh run |
| Taif | Directly on the Riyadh motorway | 5–7 days | Via Jeddah airport | Joins the Makkah and Jeddah run |
| Tabuk and Hail | To Qassim, then Riyadh | 6–9 days | Via Riyadh or Jeddah | Collected by a feeder truck |
| Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan | Wadi ad-Dawasir, then Al-Kharj | 5–8 days | Via Jeddah or Riyadh | Joins the run at Al-Kharj |
Riyadh and Qassim: the capital is the nearest major city to the desert road, and most shared runs leave from it, so it is the shortest line in time and the lowest in price. Shipments from Buraidah and Unaizah are moved to it and then ride the same run.
Jeddah, Makkah and Taif: their truck crosses the Kingdom from west to east before heading south, which explains the two extra days. In Makkah the hours when large trucks may enter are observed, and they are tighter in Ramadan and Hajj, so we confirm them before loading day.
Madinah: its road runs east to Qassim and then Riyadh, and what leaves it most is visitors’ luggage, dates and returnees’ furniture. Shipments from Yanbu and Al-Hanakiyah are loaded with it.
The Eastern Province: its shipments have both options. Anything bound for Muscat, Nizwa and Salalah drops from Al-Ahsa to the Empty Quarter road. Anything bound for Sohar and Buraimi crosses the nearby Batha post and reaches the north of the Sultanate by the shortest road.
The list of cities we serve is on the cities page, and the whole Gulf line is covered in shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states.
Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Oman
There is no single price for the whole Kingdom, because the charge is built on three numbers: how many kilometres lie between your city and the border, how many cubic metres your shipment takes up, and where in the Sultanate it is delivered. The first table shows the lowest starting point for each service, which is the price out of Riyadh, and the table after it breaks down the difference between cities:
| What you ship | To Muscat and around | To Salalah |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | Starts from SAR 41 | Starts from SAR 50 |
| Parcels up to 30 kg | Starts from SAR 165 | Set on request |
| Carton | Starts from SAR 140 | Starts from SAR 140 |
| Per kilogram above 50 kg | Starts from SAR 5.5 a kilogram | Starts from SAR 7.4 a kilogram |
| Bedroom | Starts from SAR 1,700 | Starts from SAR 2,300 |
| Two-bedroom flat furniture | Starts from SAR 2,950 | Set on request |
| Villa furniture | Starts from SAR 6,350 | Set on request |
| Commercial goods by the tonne | Starts from SAR 870 a tonne | Set on request |
| Car on a transporter | Starts from SAR 2,950 | Set on request |
| Air freight | Starts from SAR 14 a kilogram | Via Muscat |
| Express documents | Starts from SAR 83 | Set on request |
| Collection city | Bedroom to Muscat | Bedroom to Salalah | Flat furniture to Muscat | Car on a transporter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | From SAR 1,700 | From SAR 2,300 | From SAR 2,950 | From SAR 2,950 |
| Jeddah | From SAR 2,300 | From SAR 3,200 | From SAR 4,600 | From SAR 3,500 |
| Makkah | From SAR 2,300 | From SAR 3,200 | From SAR 4,600 | From SAR 3,500 |
| Madinah | From SAR 2,300 | From SAR 3,200 | From SAR 4,600 | From SAR 3,500 |
| Dammam, Khobar and Qassim | Priced on the Riyadh list, with the collection item set on request | |||
| Taif, Tabuk and Abha | Priced on the Jeddah list, with the collection item set on request | |||
A parcel, a carton, a heavy-load kilogram, an air kilogram and documents do not change in price from one city to another: SAR 41 for the parcel, SAR 140 for the carton, SAR 5.5 a kilogram above 50 kg, SAR 14 for an air kilogram, and SAR 83 for documents. The difference between cities shows only in furniture and cars, because both hold space on the truck for the whole road.
Market prices on this line are very far apart. Those who publish figures offer a bedroom between SAR 1,200 and 1,800, a car between SAR 3,200 and 4,800, a tonne of part-load goods between SAR 950 and 1,400, personal items up to 30 kg between SAR 180 and 350, and an air kilogram for online-shop orders at about SAR 45. Much higher figures also circulate: a parcel up to 5 kg between SAR 60 and 250 by land and between SAR 350 and 700 by air, appliances between SAR 500 and 1,200, a small flat’s furniture between SAR 3,200 and 8,500, a saloon car between SAR 4,000 and 9,500, and a 4×4 up to SAR 14,000. So compare any figure you receive with the two tables, and ask its owner what it includes.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Collection city | The farther from the Batha junction, the longer the domestic leg |
| Volume | Sets your share of the truck. Estimate it with the CBM calculator |
| Weight | The basis for parcels and air, taking the greater of actual and volumetric |
| Full or shared truck | The full one you book alone; in the shared one you pay your portion |
| Delivery city | Ibri, Nizwa and Muscat are on the line; Salalah, Duqm and Musandam are farther |
| Services | Dismantling, packing, assembly, storage and insurance are items written into the price |
| Season | Summer, Ramadan, Hajj and the Salalah khareef raise demand |
How do you lower the cost?
- Sell in the Kingdom anything worth less in Muscat than the charge of hauling it a thousand or two thousand kilometres.
- Accept a shared load if your date has two or three days of slack.
- Combine your cartons into one shipment, so you are charged by the kilogram, not by the parcel.
- Attach the certificate of origin to your Saudi goods so the Omani duty falls away.
- Book two weeks ahead of summer and the seasons.
The pricing items are explained on the pricing factors page.
Types of shipping to Oman: land, air or sea?
Land is the answer for nine shipments out of every ten on this line, because it carries every kind of cargo at the lowest charge, and a direct road links the two countries. Air comes in when time is worth more than the charge. Sea remains for heavy commercial loads whose owner does not mind when they arrive. The comparison sets the three before you:
| Comparison | Land | Air | Sea |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time | 3–10 days | One to 3 days | 10–20 days |
| Carries | Furniture, cars, goods and parcels | Documents, parcels and light pieces | Commercial containers |
| Price starts from | SAR 5.5 a kilogram above 50 kg | SAR 14 a kilogram | Set on request |
| Delivery | The same truck to the door | From the airport to the address | From the port by truck |
| When to choose it | For most shipments | When time is short | For heavy, unhurried cargo |
The general comparison of methods is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Furniture shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman
Household furniture is shipped to Oman in a closed truck, and a bedroom starts from SAR 1,700 out of Riyadh and from SAR 2,300 out of the western cities. What damages furniture on this line is not the distance but long hours of continuous vibration and fine dust. So we build the service on lashing that leaves no gap and packing that leaves no opening, and these are its stages:
- Estimate: you send photos of the rooms or our representative visits, so we know the volume and the truck size.
- Dismantling: wardrobes, beds and majlis seating are taken apart, and each piece’s screws go into a bag carrying its number.
- Packing: blankets for wood, bubble film and cardboard corners for glass and mirrors, and a wooden crate for ornaments and chandeliers.
- Appliances: the fridge, washing machine and air conditioner travel upright, and screens go between foam boards.
- The list: a number for every piece and carton, with one copy for you and one for customs.
- In Oman: unloading, carrying into the rooms, assembling what was dismantled, and checking against the list.
Your appliances usually work in Oman without an adapter, since the sockets are the same type and the voltage is close. But the mains frequency in the Sultanate is 50 Hz, so check the rating plate of motor-driven appliances before switching them on. Service details are on the furniture shipping page.
Full truck or shared load?
If your furniture is a whole home, or your date cannot bear waiting, book the entire truck. If it is a room or two, a shared load is enough and saves you money. On the Oman line this decision weighs more, because shared runs to it do not leave every day, so a small shipment may wait until the truck body is full.
| Comparison | Full truck | Shared load |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | The whole truck | The space you occupy |
| Departure | The day you choose | When the load is complete |
| Handling | One loading and one unloading | Others’ shipments may be unloaded before yours |
| Customs | One file | Several customers’ files in the declaration |
| Best for | A villa, a whole flat or truckload goods | A room, cartons and a few pallets |
Shipping parcels, luggage and electrical appliances
A parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 41 to Muscat, parcels up to 30 kg from SAR 165, and a carton from SAR 140. This service is requested by Omanis returning from Umrah or a visit, by residents sending things to their families, and by shops delivering their customers’ orders. Anything totalling more than 50 kg is charged by the kilogram from SAR 5.5, so sending ten cartons together becomes cheaper than sending them separately.
- Collection: from home, office or hotel, and we weigh the parcel in front of you.
- The carton: double-wall, weighing no more than 30 kg so it can be carried safely by hand.
- Appliances: screens, computers and small kitchen appliances are cushioned with foam, and the model is written in the list.
- Address: the consignee’s name, wilayat, area and an Omani mobile number.
- Declaration: state truthfully what the box holds and what it is worth; a parcel declared that way passes the post without being opened.
Service details are on the parcel shipping page.
Commercial cargo and services for companies
Goods of Saudi origin enter Oman free of customs duty whenever a certificate of origin accompanies them, and that is what makes the line profitable for a factory or supplier. A tonne of part-load goods starts from SAR 870. We work with companies under a contract that fixes the price and the schedule, so you know your supply cost before you price your product in the Omani market.
| Item | Shipping method | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Foodstuffs and dates | Dry or refrigerated truck | Health certificate, certificate of origin and expiry date |
| Building and finishing materials | Flatbed or closed truck on pallets | Weight distribution and lashing straps |
| Electronics and spare parts | Closed land truck, air for urgent items | Invoice with models and numbers |
| New furniture and furnishings | Closed truck in factory packaging | Factory invoice and certificate of origin |
| Industrial equipment and machinery | Low-bed or flatbed truck | Dimensions, weight and a load permit if needed |
| Online-shop orders | Consolidated parcels by land or air | A statement of every parcel and its value |
- Regular supply: weekly or monthly runs at an agreed price for recurring quantities.
- Consolidation: we collect from several suppliers in several cities and send it all out in one truck.
- Industrial delivery: to warehouses in Muscat, the Sohar industrial area and the Duqm economic zone.
- Reports: a statement for every run: dates of departure, crossing and delivery, and a photo of the receipt.
Service details are on the commercial shipping page, and equipment on the heavy equipment shipping page.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman

A car is moved to Oman on a road transporter, and the price starts from SAR 2,950 out of Riyadh and from SAR 3,500 out of the western cities. It is secured to the transporter deck with four straps, one on each wheel, and photographed before loading and after. That way it arrives with its odometer as it left, and does not run hundreds of kilometres on its tyres through the desert.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Transporter type | Open for ordinary cars, enclosed for luxury and classic cars |
| Vehicle types | Saloons, 4x4s, pickups and commercial vehicles |
| Export from the Kingdom | Fines settled, then plates surrendered and an export certificate from the traffic department |
| What Oman asks for | An export certificate from the country of registration, the one recognised by the Royal Oman Police |
| Age condition | In force: 7 years for a private car and 10 years for trucks and buses. We confirm what applies before shipping |
| Customs duty | 5% of the value if not paid in the Gulf before |
| Condition of the car | Cars damaged by a serious accident, flood or fire are usually not accepted for registration |
| Before handing it to us | An empty cabin, a quarter tank of fuel and a spare key |
Anyone entering Oman in a Saudi car as a visitor needs none of this; insurance covering the Sultanate and a valid licence are enough. But anyone moving a car to register it there should start with the year of manufacture, because a car past the limit comes back along the same road at a second charge. The general conditions are in car shipping from Saudi Arabia, and the service is on the car shipping page.
Border posts and Omani customs clearance
A shipment is cleared twice: an export declaration at the Saudi post, and an import declaration at the Omani post. Both declarations are filed electronically before the truck arrives, so it stops at the barrier only for matching and inspection. Our broker receives a copy of the file from loading day and reviews it while the truck is still on the road.
- Customs duty: 5% on most goods of foreign origin whose duty has not been settled in a Gulf state.
- VAT: 5% on new goods.
- Gulf origin: exempt from duty with a certificate of origin.
- Belongings of those moving to live there: used furniture and personal effects are usually exempt with a packing list.
- Restricted items: food, medicine, cosmetics and communication devices need permits from the Omani authorities.
The full procedure is on the customs clearance page, and the posts we work through are on the ports and gateways page.
Documents required for shipping to Oman
The papers follow the type of shipment, and all are sent as photos at booking. We review them before loading day, because correcting a name or a number in the city takes minutes, while correcting it with the truck at the post takes a day.
| Shipment type | Documents | Charges in Oman |
|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings | ID or residence permit and passport, a tenancy or work contract in Oman, and a packing list | Exempt for those moving to live there |
| Saudi or Gulf goods | Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin | No duty, and 5% VAT on new items |
| Goods of foreign origin | Invoice, packing list and proof of duty payment if paid | 5% if unpaid, plus VAT |
| Car | Registration, export certificate and owner’s ID | 5% if not paid before |
| Food and dates | Health certificate, certificate of origin and product label | By item and origin |
| Personal parcels | Description of contents and value, and the consignee’s address and number | Exempt within personal-use limits |
Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page.
What cannot be shipped to Oman or needs a permit
A single prohibited item inside a carton may stop the whole truck at the post, along with other people’s shipments. So we ask you about the contents before packing, and we decline any item in this table unless its permit comes with it:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Drugs and alcohol | Prohibited |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited or by official licence |
| E-cigarettes and electronic shisha | Prohibited in Oman |
| Medicines | Personal quantities with a prescription; commercial ones by licence |
| Drones and radio devices | By prior permit |
| Chemicals, flammables and gas cylinders | Not loaded with furniture |
| Food without a label or of unknown source | Refused |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Stay with their owner |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and the other Omani cities

We deliver to the address in every governorate of the Sultanate, and the truck that loaded at your home is the one that stops outside the consignee’s home for most destinations. Oman is a large country with widely spaced cities, so knowing where a city sits relative to the truck’s line explains its date and its price:
| City | Governorate | How it is served | What we deliver there most |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muscat: Al Khuwair, Muttrah, Seeb and Bawshar | Muscat | End of the direct line, about 300 km past Ibri | Household furniture, appliances, parcels and cars |
| Nizwa and Bahla | Dakhiliyah | On the truck’s line before Muscat | Personal effects, small furniture and family parcels |
| Ibri | Dhahirah | First city after the border | Shop goods and family belongings |
| Sohar and North Batinah | North Batinah | Across the UAE, or north from Muscat | Factory goods, equipment and containers |
| Buraimi | Buraimi | Across the UAE; it adjoins Al Ain | Furniture and commercial goods |
| Sur | South Sharqiyah | About 200 km past Muscat | Furniture and parcels |
| Duqm and Haima | Al Wusta | Dedicated truck south from Ibri | Company equipment and staff furniture |
| Salalah and the wilayats of Dhofar | Dhofar | Southern run via Adam and Thumrait | Heavy furniture, cars and goods |
The service does not end at the building entrance. The crew unloads the pieces, carries them up to the floor, and assembles bedrooms and wardrobes in place. In narrow old quarters the truck stops at the nearest wide street and a small vehicle completes the trip to the door. So write the address with the wilayat, area, way number and building, and state the floor and whether the building has a lift. Destination page: shipping to Oman.
Shipping services for individuals and families
An individual wants one thing: for their belongings to arrive as they left them, without having to chase ten parties. So we give them a single coordinator who knows their shipment from the first call until the delivery signature, and who talks to them plainly about price and date.
- Whole-home relocation: dismantling, packing, transport and assembly, with a numbered list.
- Students’ and expatriates’ luggage: cartons and suitcases with an economy option in a shared load.
- The personal car: a transporter door to door, and a review of registration conditions before departure.
- Home appliances: fridges, washing machines and screens protected from shock and dust.
- Temporary storage: for anyone travelling before they take over their home in the Sultanate.
Shipping services for government bodies, embassies and consulates
An official body needs three things beyond what others need: privacy of contents, a date that does not move, and papers that match its internal procedures. So we assign it a truck that no other shipment shares, and we document each stage with a handover record.
- Office furniture and equipment: desks, filing cabinets, and technical and medical devices packed to suit each kind.
- Official documents and parcels: by express, handed in person to whomever the body names.
- Belongings of diplomats and transferred staff: furniture and a car in one trip at the end or start of a posting.
- Exemptions: missions have special customs treatment by a letter from their authority, and we prepare the file as customs in both countries require.
- Documentation: a written report with dates and photos, attached to the body’s file.
Is sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Oman suitable?
For furniture, parcels and cars: no. A ship leaving Jeddah port sails round the entire Arabian Peninsula to reach Salalah or Sohar, and one leaving Dammam port passes through the Strait of Hormuz to Sohar. With haulage to the port, waiting for the vessel and clearance at both ends, the time comes to 10 to 20 days, and the truck beats it by more than a week. So sea remains for heavy commercial containers and equipment whose owner is in no hurry. The service is on the sea freight page.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Oman

Air freight gets a parcel or document to Muscat in one to 3 days, and starts from SAR 14 a kilogram. Muscat International Airport receives direct flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah, with a flying time of between two hours and three hours twenty minutes. Salalah has an international airport, and its air cargo usually moves via Muscat.
- What it suits: documents, urgent parcels, spare parts, small electronics and commercial samples.
- How it is charged: the airline bills whichever is higher, the scale weight or the weight derived from the box dimensions; our volumetric weight calculator shows you which.
- Express documents: start from SAR 83.
- Delivery: from the airport to the consignee’s address after clearance, not just to the cargo terminal.
- What does not fly: flammable liquids, loose batteries, perfume in quantity, and furniture.
- When land wins: above 50 kg a kilogram by land is from SAR 5.5, so the gap is wide.
Service details are on the air freight page.
Steps for shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman
- Request: you call or message us with your city, the consignee’s city and photos of what you are shipping.
- Price: you receive a figure broken into its items: transport, packing, clearance and unloading.
- Papers: you send photos of your ID, the consignee’s address and whatever your shipment type requires, and we review them.
- Collection: the crew arrives on time, then dismantles, packs, numbers and loads.
- Departure: the truck heads for the Batha junction, picking up shipments from the cities on its road.
- Crossing: the export declaration, then the import declaration, and we tell you when the truck enters Oman.
- Delivery: a call to the consignee before arrival, then unloading, assembly and checking.
- Closing: the consignee signs the list, and a photo of the receipt reaches you in the Kingdom.
Packing and temporary storage
Packing on the Oman line is designed against two enemies: vibration and dust. Every piece is tied to the wall of the truck body or to its neighbour, and every opening in a carton is closed with wide tape. Storage solves a common problem on this line: the work contract begins before the home is handed over.
- Wood and upholstery: moving blankets, then plastic stretch film that keeps dust out.
- Glass and marble: wooden crates, loaded upright, not flat.
- Cartons: the heavy ones at the bottom, and the number on two faces.
- Storage: in a closed warehouse, the shipment inventoried and packed, leaving on the day you set.
Packing methods are in the packing guide, and the warehouses are explained on the storage page.
Tracking and insurance
You know where your shipment is from four messages: when the truck leaves your city, when it enters the Empty Quarter road, when it crosses into Oman, and a few hours before delivery. Phone coverage is weak along stretches of the desert, so do not worry if updates pause for half a day. With the reference number you follow it from the track your shipment page.
- Documentation: photos of the pieces before packing, and of the truck after it is closed and sealed.
- Insurance: you decide whether to add it; the premium is worked out from the value you put on the load, as the cargo insurance page sets out.
- On receipt: the consignee checks the pieces against the list and writes any remark before signing.
Shipping from Oman to Saudi Arabia
Trucks return from Oman loaded as well, so the service is available in the opposite direction in the same way. We collect from the address in Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa or Salalah, cross the post, and deliver in any city in the Kingdom. A Saudi returning with used furniture needs a packing list and proof of previous residence in the Sultanate, and we go through the exemption conditions in force with them before loading. Goods of Omani origin enter with a certificate of origin.
Home Safe tips before shipping to Oman
- Inventory your belongings and sort them: fragile, heavy and valuable. Sorting shortens both packing and clearance.
- Make land your choice for furniture and goods, and leave air for what cannot wait.
- Prepare your ID, the consignee’s address and the packing list before loading day, not after.
- Confirm the consignee’s Omani mobile number, as it is the driver’s only way to reach them.
- Avoid the last week before summer and the holidays, when trucks fill up and dates slip.
- Insure the car and valuable furniture, and do not rely on trusting the road.
- Ask for the price early; booking two weeks ahead gives you a date of your own choosing.
How do you choose a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Oman?
Ask the company about the road before you ask about the price. Anyone who really works on this line knows the two posts by name, knows when the UAE road is the better one, and tells you what the consignee in the Sultanate will be asked for. These signs separate the serious from the rest:
| What you ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | A commercial registration and a known office | Only a mobile number and a social account |
| The road | Names the post and explains why it was chosen | “We deliver anywhere” with no detail |
| Price | Clear items before loading | A total figure, then extras at the border |
| Time | A realistic range for your city | A promise of two days from Jeddah to Muscat |
| Clearance | A broker at both posts and a file reviewed in advance | “The papers are on you at the border” |
| Delivery | Unloading and assembly at the address | Handover in a distant cargo yard |
Common mistakes when shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman
- Shipping a car for registration without checking its year of manufacture and export certificate.
- Writing “household items” in the list instead of detailing the pieces.
- Sending Saudi goods without a certificate of origin, so a duty they do not owe is charged.
- Putting e-cigarettes or medicines without a prescription among the belongings.
- Booking a shared load with a travel date that cannot bear a day’s delay.
- Settling for a general address in Muscat with no Omani mobile number.
- Comparing a bare transport price with one that includes packing, clearance and assembly.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman
How much does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman cost?
The lowest figures are out of Riyadh, because it is the nearest major city to the Omani border: a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 41, a carton from SAR 140, a bedroom from SAR 1,700, and a car on a transporter from SAR 2,950. From Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah a bedroom starts from SAR 2,300 and a car from SAR 3,500. Air freight is from SAR 14 a kilogram from any airport. For a final price: 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Oman take?
It follows the collection city. From Riyadh and the Eastern Province a full truck reaches Muscat in 3 to 5 days, and from Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah in 5 to 7 days. A shared load adds two to three days to that. Air freight takes one to 3 days. Salalah adds a day or two to the Muscat time.
What is the land route between Saudi Arabia and Oman?
There are two. The direct one crosses the Empty Quarter over 564 km inside the Kingdom, passes the Saudi Rub al Khali post to the Omani Ramlat Khaylah post, then runs 161 km to Ibri. The second leaves through the Batha post into the UAE and enters the Sultanate near Buraimi or Sohar. The first serves central and southern Oman, the second the north.
Which Saudi cities do you collect from for Oman?
From every region: Riyadh and Al-Kharj; Jeddah, Makkah and Taif; Madinah and Yanbu; Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa; Buraidah and Unaizah; Tabuk and Hail; Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan. The crew comes to your door, and your shipment joins the nearest run heading for the border.
Why does the price differ between Riyadh and Jeddah?
Because of the distance before the border. A truck from Jeddah covers about 950 km just to reach Riyadh, then continues along the same road a Riyadh truck starts on. That is why a bedroom starts from SAR 1,700 out of Riyadh and from SAR 2,300 out of Jeddah. A parcel, a carton and an air kilogram cost the same from both cities.
Is customs duty paid on used furniture in Oman?
Usually not. The belongings and used furniture of someone moving to live there enter exempt, provided there is a detailed packing list and proof of the consignee’s residence or work in the Sultanate. New items in their packaging are treated as goods: 5% duty if of foreign origin, and 5% VAT.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Riyadh to Muscat?
From SAR 2,950 on a transporter, door to door. From the western cities it starts from SAR 3,500. The price changes with the size of the car, with an open or enclosed transporter, and with the delivery city. Omani duties and registration fees are not part of the transport charge.
What are the conditions for registering a Saudi car in Oman?
The Royal Oman Police ask for an export certificate issued by the country where the car is registered, meaning the Saudi traffic department. The rule in force is that a used private car is not registered once it reaches 7 years of age, and that 5% duty is paid if it was not settled in the Gulf before. We confirm what applies to your car before loading.
What documents are needed to ship to Oman?
For furniture and belongings: ID or residence permit and passport, proof of the consignee’s housing or work in Oman, and a packing list. For goods: a commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. For a car: the registration, export certificate and owner’s ID. For a parcel: a description of the contents and their value, and the consignee’s address and number.
Does the service include dismantling and assembling furniture?
Yes. Our crew dismantles bedrooms, wardrobes and majlis seating in your home in the Kingdom, and wraps and numbers every piece. In Oman the delivery crew unloads the shipment and reassembles what was dismantled in the rooms you specify. Both items are written into the price before loading.
How are electronics and appliances packed?
A screen goes back into its original box if there is one, or is wrapped in bubble film and set between two foam boards inside a double-wall carton. A fridge and a washing machine have their moving parts secured and travel upright. Valuable or sensitive pieces go into a wooden crate that withstands the vibration of the desert road.
What is the difference between land and air freight to Oman?
Land is cheaper and carries everything: furniture, cars, goods and cartons, and takes 3 to 10 days depending on your city. Air is faster, arriving in one to 3 days, suits documents, urgent parcels and light valuable pieces, and starts from SAR 14 a kilogram.
Can the shipment be tracked, and is it insured?
Yes. You receive a reference number on collection day, and we update you when the truck leaves, when it crosses the border and before delivery. Insurance is optional, its premium is a percentage of the value you declare, and we recommend it for whole-home furniture, cars and electronics.
Do you ship to Salalah, and do you offer temporary storage?
Yes to both. Salalah is served by a southern run that drops from Ibri through Adam, Haima and Thumrait, adding a day or two to Muscat, and a parcel to it is from SAR 50. If your home in the Sultanate is not ready, your shipment stays in our warehouse, packed and inventoried, until you set the departure date.
Do you ship from Oman to Saudi Arabia?
Yes. The line works in both directions. We collect from the address in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or any wilayat, the truck crosses into the Kingdom, and we deliver in your city wherever it is. Before loading we go through what Saudi customs require for your type of shipment.
