Who ships from Jeddah to Qatar, and what do they ship?
Jeddah is the commercial gateway of the Two Holy Mosques and the largest city on the west coast, and Doha is a labour market that draws employees from every city of the Kingdom. That is why three kinds of shipment meet on this route that do not meet on any other: whole homes moving with their owners, goods leaving Jeddah’s port or markets for a trader in Qatar, and the luggage of visitors who came for Umrah and flew home. Each kind has a method that suits it and papers of its own.
| Owner of the shipment | What they usually send | What we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| A family whose breadwinner has moved to work in Doha | A home’s furniture, appliances and air conditioners | A dedicated truck with dismantling, packing and assembly |
| A single employee or a student | One room, cartons and books | A shared load by the cubic metre |
| A Qatari Umrah or Hajj pilgrim | Excess suitcases and gifts | By the suitcase and carton by land, and by air for what is urgent |
| Someone sending to family in Qatar | Parcels and household appliances | Parcels door to door |
| A trader or an online shop | Goods on pallets or in cartons | Shared for small quantities, a full truck for large ones |
| A company, government body or embassy | Office furniture, equipment and documents | Shipping under a contract and official letter, with a follow-up officer |
| A car owner | A family or luxury car | An open or enclosed carrier |
The shipping route from Jeddah to Qatar and its duration
The truck crosses the Kingdom from west to east before it reaches the border, which makes this the longest land route between a major Saudi city and Qatar. It leaves Jeddah for Taif by the Al-Sail road, then takes the motorway to Riyadh, then descends to Al-Ahsa and the coast of the Gulf of Salwa. Pure driving is about 16 hours, but it is split over two days so the driver can rest, and the time at the two border posts is added to it.
| Section | Approximate length | What happens on it |
|---|---|---|
| Jeddah → Riyadh | About 950 km via Taif | The longest section; the driver stays overnight after it |
| Riyadh → Salwa border post | About 480 km via Al-Ahsa | Reaching the border and the Saudi export declaration |
| Salwa → Abu Samra | Crossing the two posts | The Qatari import declaration and inspection |
| Abu Samra → Doha | About 100 km | Distribution to the addresses and unloading |
The door-to-door time, however, follows the shipping method more than the distance, because the whole difference lies in the waiting time before the truck moves:
| Shipping method | Time from collection to delivery | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated truck | 3–5 days | A whole home, or goods that fill the truck |
| Shared load | 5–8 days | A room or two, and a few cartons and pallets |
| Car carrier | 3–7 days | Cars of every type |
| Parcels by land | 5–8 days | Parcels and suitcases that are not urgent |
| Air freight | One to two days | Documents and urgent parcels |
What lengthens the time?
- Filling the shared load: the truck does not leave Jeddah half full, so your shipment may wait one to three days.
- The queue at the post: before Eid holidays and at weekends the wait at Salwa grows, and there is no alternative to it.
- A missing paper: a vague list of contents or an invoice without a certificate of origin stops the truck for manual inspection.
- Jeddah’s seasonal congestion: in Ramadan and Hajj the city’s exit towards Makkah is crowded, so we load at night.
- Building requirements in Qatar: some towers and compounds ask for an entry permit for the truck and a booking for the service lift.
Times for the other destinations are on the transit times page.
The land route from Jeddah to Qatar via the Salwa – Abu Samra crossing

Land is the method every heavy or bulky shipment on this route relies on. The truck is loaded once in front of your door in Jeddah and opened in front of the consignee’s door, with no port, no airport and no handling in between. Its closed body shields the load from the sun of Najd and the dust of Al-Ahsa the whole way. We prepare the crossing papers before it moves, so it reaches Salwa with its declaration already registered.
The first decision in land freight is this: a truck of your own, or a place in a shared truck? The table shows the difference:
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| Charge | The whole truck’s hire, however much you fill | According to the cubic metres you occupy |
| Departure day | The loading day itself | When the load is complete |
| Time | 3–5 days | 5–8 days |
| Number of handlings | One loading and one unloading | It may pass through the consolidation warehouse in Jeddah |
| Customs crossing | One declaration for one owner | A declaration for each shipment, and one delay holds up the rest |
| Suitable for | A flat’s or villa’s furniture, and a trader’s goods | Fewer than three rooms, and parcels and cartons |
The size of the truck is chosen by the size of the load: a light truck for a small flat, a medium truck for a large flat, and a trailer for a villa or a factory load. We work out the volume with you from photographs before recommending any of them. The service is explained on the land freight page.
Shipping prices from Jeddah to Qatar
There is no single price for the route, because each kind of shipment has its own unit of calculation. A parcel is priced by the piece or by weight, furniture and goods by the cubic metre or the truck, and a car by its class and the type of carrier. The figures below are where our service starts, and they include collection from Jeddah, transport and delivery to the address in Qatar:
| Shipment | Means of transport | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | Shared land load | SAR 90 |
| Carton | Shared land load | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase up to 25 kg | Shared land load | SAR 230 |
| Large household appliance, per piece | Shared land load | SAR 230 |
| Belongings or goods by the cubic metre | Shared land load | SAR 550 per cubic metre |
| Small furniture shipment | Shared land load | SAR 735 |
| Complete bedroom | Small truck | SAR 2,000 |
| A full flat’s furniture | Dedicated truck | SAR 4,100 |
| A villa’s furniture | Dedicated trailer | SAR 11,500 |
| Goods ready for loading, transport only | Full truck | SAR 2,300 |
| Commercial goods by the tonne | Large loads | SAR 370 per tonne |
| Saloon car | Shared open carrier | SAR 2,020 |
| 4×4 car | Shared open carrier | SAR 2,570 |
| Saloon car | Enclosed carrier | SAR 3,860 |
| Urgent parcels and documents | Air freight | SAR 14 per kilogram, and documents from SAR 83 |
| Heavy equipment, and refrigerated freight | Flatbed or refrigerated truck | Set on request |
Most of the prices circulating in the market for this route are higher than our table. A cubic metre is offered at between SAR 600 and 1,100, an electrical appliance at between SAR 250 and 500 per piece, groupage for furniture from SAR 800, furniture in general at between SAR 1,200 and 3,500 depending on its volume, and a bedroom or part-load of furniture at between SAR 2,200 and 3,800, a flat’s furniture at between SAR 6,500 and 9,500, and a villa at between SAR 12,500 and 16,000. Hire of a full truck starts from SAR 2,500, and commercial goods run between SAR 400 and 700 per tonne. A car on an open carrier is between SAR 2,200 and 2,800, and on an enclosed one between SAR 4,200 and 5,500, while some ask SAR 5,000 and more. An air parcel of up to 5 kg is offered at about SAR 250, and up to 30 kg at about SAR 1,200, with delivery charges of between SAR 50 and 200 for towns far from Doha.
| Factor | How it moves the price |
|---|---|
| Volume in cubic metres | The basis for furniture and goods. Estimate it with the CBM calculator |
| Weight | It governs parcels, air freight and heavy goods |
| Dedicated or shared | With a dedicated truck you pay for the whole road; with a shared one, your share of it |
| Accompanying services | Dismantling, packing, assembly and wooden crates are items listed separately |
| Place of delivery | Doha and its surroundings are within the price; the far north and Dukhan are set on request |
| Time of booking | Demand is higher before Eid holidays, at the start of summer and at the end of the school year |
How do you cut the cost?
- Choose land for everything bulky or heavy, and leave air for documents and the light urgent parcel.
- Merge your parcels and cartons into one shipment; a cubic metre is cheaper than ten separate parcels.
- Pack tightly without inflating: a carton the size of its contents, gaps filled, and dismantled furniture that takes half its space.
- Book two weeks before your date to catch a shared truck instead of paying for a truck alone.
- Get rid of what is not worth the road: cheap, heavy furniture may cost more to ship than its price in Doha.
- Ask us before you decide; we cost both methods for you and tell you which is cheaper for your load.
Everything else that affects the figure is explained on the pricing factors page.
What sets shipping from Jeddah apart?
Jeddah differs from the other cities of the western region in that the port and the airport are inside it. Goods cleared at Jeddah Islamic Port are loaded from its yard onto the truck bound for Qatar with no intermediate haul, and an urgent parcel reaches King Abdulaziz Airport within the hour. It is also the major city farthest from the Qatari border, so planning the journey matters more here than in any other city.
- Truck hours: entry of large trucks into Jeddah’s districts is restricted at peak times, so we set the loading appointment in the available hours, and a small vehicle serves the lanes.
- Humidity: the coastal air is damp and salty, so we put moisture absorbers in cartons of books and electronics, and we never wrap wet wood.
- Ramadan and Hajj: the Jeddah – Makkah road fills with coaches, so our trucks leave at night or by the ring road.
- The climb to Taif: trucks take the Al-Sail road, since the Al-Hada pass is not open to them, and this is counted in the time.
- Port goods: what entered the Kingdom through Jeddah port with its duty paid crosses into Qatar with the clearing document and no second duty.
The rest of our services in the city are set out in the article on international shipping companies in Jeddah.
Shipping household furniture from Jeddah to Qatar
A home’s furniture spends two days on a motorway and then stands before a customs inspector who may ask for some cartons to be opened. So the packing has to withstand long vibration, and the inventory has to match what is in the truck piece by piece. That is our work on loading day, not the householder’s.
| Item | How we prepare it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bedrooms and wardrobes | Dismantled with panels numbered, and their screws in a bag fixed to the piece | Dismantled furniture takes half the volume and does not work loose |
| Sofas and mattresses | Thick nylon, then stretch film, and cardboard corners | It keeps out dust and rubbing against wood |
| Glass, mirrors and marble | Foam on both faces inside a wooden crate, carried upright | Glass breaks lying flat and holds standing up |
| Fridge and washing machine | Emptied and dried a day ahead, with moving parts secured | Leftover water damages what is around them on the road |
| Split air conditioner | The gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit, and the two units are wrapped separately | So that it works after fitting without a new charge |
| Kitchenware and ornaments | Paper and dividers in a double-walled carton | An ordinary carton is crushed by what is above it |
After packing, the inventory is written: a number for every piece and carton, a description the inspector understands, and a photograph before sealing. This same list is what is presented to Qatari customs and what the consignee signs. The delivery team in Qatar unloads, reassembles and takes away the packing waste. Details are on the furniture shipping page and in the packing guide.
Shipping parcels, suitcases and appliances
Not everyone who ships to Qatar is moving a home. Many send a carton of clothes to a relative, or two suitcases that went over the airline allowance after Umrah, or a screen and a washing machine someone bought in Jeddah. These shipments ride the same shared truck and are charged by a unit that suits their size.
| What you send | Unit of calculation | Price starts from | What we point out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | By the piece | SAR 90 | The consignee’s name and Qatari number are written on it |
| Carton | By the carton | SAR 140 | Double wall, and a weight of no more than 30 kg |
| Suitcase | By the suitcase up to 25 kg | SAR 230 | Wrapped in film and numbered, with no Zamzam water in it |
| Large household appliance | By the piece | SAR 230 | In its original carton, or in foam and reinforced cardboard |
| Many parcels | By the cubic metre | SAR 550 per cubic metre | The cheapest once you pass four cartons |
Saudi appliances work in Qatar as they are, since the supply there is 240 volts and the sockets are the three-pin type used in the Kingdom. Screens travel upright on top of the load, not under it, and new phones and computers are entered on the list with their invoices. A personal parcel of low value mostly enters Qatar without duty, and the rule in practice is that a single gift must not exceed a value set by customs, so we confirm what applies to your parcel. Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Personal shipping and commercial shipping: what is the difference?
The difference is not in the truck, since both take the same road and cross the same post. It is in the papers and in how customs looks at the shipment. Personal means used belongings that their owner will not sell; commercial means goods with an invoice, a buyer and a duty. Whoever mixes the two pays the price at Abu Samra.
| Item | Personal shipping | Commercial shipping |
|---|---|---|
| What is shipped | Furniture, luggage and gifts, used or in personal quantities | Goods for sale or for a project, mostly new |
| Sender and consignee | Individuals | Two establishments with commercial registration |
| The basic paper | A list of contents and proof of residence | A commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin |
| Duty in Qatar | Exempt for someone moving to live there, on its conditions | No duty for Gulf origin, and 5% for the rest |
| Pricing unit | The piece, the cubic metre or the room | The cubic metre, the pallet, the tonne or the truck |
| What the customer asks for | Packing, assembly and a date that suits the family | A fixed date, a delivery report and a tax invoice |
Shipping commercial goods and online-shop orders
A Doha trader buys from Jeddah for two reasons: its wholesale markets, and its port, which Asian and European goods reach before any other. The Kingdom and Qatar are members of the Gulf customs union, so a Saudi product crosses without duty whenever a certificate of origin accompanies it, and a foreign product whose duty was paid in Jeddah is not charged a second time.
- Small quantities: pallets and cartons in the shared truck, from SAR 550 per cubic metre.
- Large loads: a full truck for transport only from SAR 2,300, and heavy goods by the tonne from SAR 370.
- Online shops: we gather your customers’ orders for Qatar into a weekly shipment and distribute them there to their addresses.
- Papers: a commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin, commercial registration for both parties, and the clearing document for foreign goods.
- Foodstuffs and dates: an Arabic data label and an expiry date, and where a health permit is needed we ask for it before loading.
- Dates and deadlines: for anyone supplying an exhibition or a season, we fix the arrival day, not just the departure day.
The service is explained on the commercial shipping page.
Heavy equipment and refrigerated freight
Some shipments cannot be carried in an ordinary closed body. Generators, excavators, forklifts and production lines travel on flatbed or low-bed trucks, secured with chains and covered. Foodstuffs and medicines that need a constant temperature travel in a refrigerated truck that we arrange on prior request, with the temperature logged the whole way.
- What we need from you: the dimensions, the weight and photographs of the machine, and the required temperature for a refrigerated shipment.
- Oversized loads: anything beyond the legal width or height needs a road permit, which we arrange before the date.
- Price: set on request, because every machine is a case of its own.
Details are on the heavy equipment shipping page.
Car shipping from Jeddah to Qatar on car carriers

Driving a car from Jeddah to Doha means two days behind the wheel and 1,500 km on its odometer. So most of our customers choose to fly and have the car follow them on a carrier. We inspect it and photograph it from every side before loading, then it is secured by all four wheels with straps, so the body is not pulled and the suspension does not move.
| Car | Carrier | Price starts from | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saloon or hatchback | Shared open | SAR 2,020 | The everyday and family car |
| 4×4 | Shared open | SAR 2,570 | The large family car |
| Saloon | Enclosed | SAR 3,860 | Luxury and new cars |
| A classic, a motorcycle or a non-running car | Enclosed or a single flatbed | Set on request | Whatever needs special loading |
- Before leaving the Kingdom: fines are paid, and the export certificate and export plates are obtained from the traffic department if the car is to be registered in Qatar.
- In Qatar: the rule in practice is a duty of 5% of the value unless the clearing document proves it was paid, and an age limit of five years for a light car. We confirm what applies to your car before its plates are dropped.
- A temporary visit: anyone entering on Saudi plates and returning needs no export, and where a passage booklet is required we have explained it on the triptik carnet page.
- Loading day: a washed car, a quarter tank of fuel, and no personal belongings in the boot.
Everything to do with vehicles, from carrier types to registration in Qatar, is in the article on car shipping from Jeddah to Qatar and on the car shipping page.
Customs at Salwa and Abu Samra, and the documents required
The shipment is cleared twice within a short distance: an export declaration with Saudi customs at Salwa, then an import declaration with Qatari customs at Abu Samra. Both declarations are lodged electronically before the truck arrives, the first through the Fasah platform and the second through Qatar’s Al Nadeeb system. If the papers were complete in Jeddah the truck passes in hours; if they fall short, it waits at a border that has no alternative crossing.
| Type of shipment | Required from the sender | Required from the consignee | Duty in Qatar |
|---|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and luggage | ID or Iqama, and a numbered list of contents | Qatari residence permit or ID card, and a letter from the employer | Exempt for someone moving to live there, on its conditions |
| Parcels and gifts | A description of the contents and their value | Name, mobile number and address | Exempt within the limits of personal use |
| Goods of Gulf origin | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration | Commercial registration and importer code | No duty |
| Goods of foreign origin | Invoice, packing list, and the clearing document if their duty was paid | Commercial registration and importer code | 5% if not paid before |
| Car | Registration, export certificate and the owner’s ID | Qatari ID card or residence permit | 5% if not paid before |
| Shipment of a government body or embassy | An official letter from the body, and a signed inventory | A letter from the receiving body | According to the body’s status and exemption |
The exemption for used furniture is not automatic. The rule in practice is that someone moving to live in Qatar brings in used belongings and appliances without duty if they arrive within six months of first entry, are for personal use and not for sale, and are not sold for a year. New furniture in its cartons does not fall under the exemption. The decision in the end rests with the customs inspector, so we review your file and confirm the conditions in force before the truck is loaded.
Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page, and the release steps on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to Qatar, or needs a permit
One prohibited item in one carton is enough to have the whole truck opened at Abu Samra. That is why we ask about the contents at inventory and remove what is in the table before sealing:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Alcohol, pork and pork products | Prohibited |
| Narcotics and psychotropic substances | Prohibited, with severe penalties |
| E-cigarettes and their liquids | Prohibited in Qatar |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited, or with a licence from the competent authority |
| Flammable materials and hazardous chemicals | Not loaded with general shipments |
| Drones and radio equipment | With a prior permit |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with a prescription |
| Offending publications and counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
| Cash, gold and original documents | They stay with their owner and are not put with the furniture |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped with goods and luggage |
The general list for all destinations is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering shipments from Jeddah in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Lusail

After Abu Samra the road becomes much shorter. Qatar is small, and the farthest address in it from the border post is no more than two and a half hours by truck. So a shipment that crosses in the morning is delivered in Doha the same day, and in the far north the next day. Our delivery is not at the building’s entrance but inside the home, with unloading and assembly.
| Municipality | Areas we deliver in | Distance from Abu Samra | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doha | West Bay, The Pearl, Msheireb, Al Sadd, Al Mansoura | About 100 km | Towers ask for a service-lift booking |
| Al Rayyan | Al Gharrafa, Al Wajba, Muaither, Ain Khaled | About 90 km | Villas and compounds, with direct unloading |
| Al Wakrah | Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Mesaieed | About 100 km | The industrial area for commercial goods |
| Al Khor and Al Thakhira | Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Ras Laffan | About 150 km | Delivered the day after crossing |
| Al Daayen | Lusail, Al Kheesa, Simaisma | About 120 km | Lusail towers with a prior entry permit |
| Umm Salal, Al Shamal and Al-Shahaniya | Umm Salal Mohammed, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Ruwais, Dukhan | 80–200 km | The far north and Dukhan are set on request |
A Qatari address is three numbers on a blue plate at every entrance: the zone number, the street number and the building number. Send them to us with a Qatari mobile number that the consignee answers. Our team there carries the furniture into the rooms, assembles what was dismantled in Jeddah, and takes the empty cartons away. More about the destination is on the shipping to Qatar page.
Services for individuals, companies, government bodies and embassies
The road is the same for every customer, but what an employee moving home asks for is not what a company supplying a project or an embassy moving an attaché’s furniture asks for. The first wants someone to dismantle, pack and assemble; the second wants a fixed date and an invoice; the third wants an official letter, confidentiality and a signed inventory. So we arrange each group’s service:
| Customer | What we provide | What marks out the service |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Moving furniture, luggage and parcels door to door | A survey by photographs, dismantling, packing and assembly, and a date that fits the family’s travel |
| Companies and traders | Regular or on-demand goods shipping, and distribution inside Qatar | A contract at fixed prices, a tax invoice, and a delivery report for every shipment |
| Government bodies | Moving office furniture, equipment and exhibition displays | Adherence to the purchase order, a signed inventory, and a single follow-up officer |
| Embassies and consulates | Moving staff luggage, equipment and documents | Sealed packing, hand delivery to whoever the mission names, and diplomatic exemption papers prepared by the mission |
From collection to delivery the customer deals with one party, and that is us. The service is described on the door-to-door shipping page.
Is there sea freight from Jeddah to Qatar?
Possible in theory and impractical in reality. Jeddah is on the Red Sea and Qatar on the Arabian Gulf, so the ship goes down to Bab al-Mandab, then rounds Oman and enters the Strait of Hormuz to reach Hamad Port. The container therefore takes two to three weeks with clearance, while the truck arrives in days and at lower cost. So we suggest the sea only for heavy commercial cargo with no pressing date. The comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page, and port services are in the article on international sea freight from Jeddah.
Air freight from Jeddah to Qatar

The plane cuts 1,500 km down to about two and a quarter hours. We collect the parcel or document from your door in Jeddah and hand it to the cargo building at King Abdulaziz International Airport the same day; it flies to Hamad International Airport, is cleared there and is delivered in Doha within one to two days. This service is for what loses its value by waiting, not for what can wait for the truck.
| What goes by air | Price starts from | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Documents, contracts and passports | SAR 83 | One to two days | A sealed envelope and delivery against signature |
| Parcels and commercial samples | SAR 14 per kilogram | One to two days | Charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight |
| Urgent electronics and spare parts | SAR 14 per kilogram | One to two days | Batteries inside their devices only |
| An urgent car or large shipment | Set on request | Two to four days | According to the dimensions and the available flight |
- Volumetric weight: a light, bulky parcel is charged by its volume. Work it out with the volumetric weight calculator.
- What the plane does not accept: liquids in quantity, perfumes and aerosols, loose batteries, and anything flammable.
- When it does not suit you: above roughly 50 kg, land becomes cheaper by a wide margin, and furniture goes by air only out of necessity.
- Delivery: in Doha at the address, and in the other municipalities the next day.
Our air freight page sets out how the service works, and the article on the air freight office in Jeddah covers what is particular to the city’s airport.
Land or air: which is faster and which is cheaper?
The short answer: air is always faster, and land is cheaper for anything beyond a small parcel. Most of our customers use both together: the documents and a suitcase for the first days by plane, and the whole home by truck. The table helps you divide things up:
| Point of comparison | Land freight | Air freight |
|---|---|---|
| Time | 3–8 days | One to two days |
| Basis of calculation | Volume by the cubic metre or the truck | Weight by the kilogram |
| What suits it | Furniture, goods, cars and large parcels | Documents, light parcels and samples |
| Restrictions | Few; it accepts liquids and batteries under controls | Many, and the parcel’s dimensions are limited |
| Cost for 100 kg | The lowest | Several times that of land |
Collection from Jeddah’s districts and nearby towns
We do not ask you to carry anything to an office. The team comes to you with the packing materials, works in your home or warehouse, then loads. Small parcels are picked up by a courier on a daily round. We cover all of Jeddah’s districts and the towns around it:
| Area | Districts and sites | How we collect |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | Obhur, Al-Shati, Al-Murjan, Al-Basateen, Al-Mohammadiyah, Al-Naeem | A truck to the door at villas, and the service lift in towers |
| Central Jeddah | Al-Rawdah, Al-Salamah, Al-Hamra, Al-Andalus, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Safa | Outside peak hours, with a small vehicle for busy streets |
| East Jeddah | Al-Samer, Al-Naseem, Al-Hamdaniyah, Al-Ajwad, Al-Manar | Close to the motorway exit, so they are loaded last |
| South Jeddah and Al-Balad | Al-Balad, Al-Jamiah, Al-Sanabel, Al-Khumrah, the industrial area | Goods loaded from warehouses, and a hand trolley for Al-Balad’s lanes |

If your address in Qatar is not ready yet, we keep your shipment in our Jeddah warehouse, packed and numbered, until you set the day of receipt. Details are on the storage page.
Steps for shipping from Jeddah to Qatar
- Describe your shipment: send on WhatsApp photographs of what you want to ship, the name of your district in Jeddah, and the town where you will receive it in Qatar.
- Receive the price: an itemised figure stating transport, packing, clearance and delivery, and what is not in it, such as customs duty if it falls due.
- Fix the date: we agree the loading day and hour, and you send copies of your ID and the consignee’s residence permit or card.
- Packing and inventory: the team dismantles, packs and numbers, and you sign the list of contents.
- Loading and departure: the load is stowed and tied down, and you receive the shipment number and the collection receipt.
- Export declaration: it is registered electronically and completed at the Salwa post.
- Qatari clearance: our broker lodges the import declaration at Abu Samra, and the duty is paid if it falls due.
- Delivery: unloading and assembly at the address, a check against the list, then the consignee’s signature.
Anyone who prefers writing to calling can start from the price request page.
Tracking and insuring the shipment
What worries a shipper most is three days without news. So we do not wait for you to ask. One employee, whose name and number you have, follows your shipment and sends you its position at four points: leaving Jeddah, reaching Salwa, the end of clearance at Abu Samra, and the time of arrival at your door. And if the truck is held up for some reason at the post, you hear it from him before you hear it from anyone else.
- Shipment number: it is written on the collection receipt, and you can enquire with it at any time on the shipment tracking page.
- Photographs: we photograph the pieces before packing and the load after stowing, and you keep the copy.
- Insurance: optional and separate from the freight charge, calculated on the value you declare. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.
- Delivery record: the consignee checks the pieces against the list and writes any remark before signing, not after.
Shipping from Qatar to Jeddah
The truck that unloads in Doha does not return empty. We collect from your address in Qatar, clear for export at Abu Samra and for import at Salwa, and deliver in any district of Jeddah. A Saudi who has finished working there brings in his used furniture with a list of contents and proof of his previous residence. Goods of Qatari origin enter the Kingdom without duty with a certificate of origin, and new goods subject to conformity need their certificate from the Saber platform. We confirm what your shipment requires before collection.
Tips before shipping from Jeddah to Qatar
This is the gist of what we tell every customer before loading day, and each tip prevents a delay we have seen on this route:
- Call your shipment what it is: furniture, goods, parcels or a car; each type has its customs file, and mixing them stops the truck.
- Write the list in detail: “Carton 12: kitchenware” passes, and “miscellaneous items” gets opened.
- Pack for the long road: a double-walled carton and filling that prevents movement, since two days of vibration do more than a single knock.
- Choose the method by the shipment: the home and the car by land, the document and the urgent parcel by air.
- Ask about Qatar’s conditions first: the car’s age, the exemption window, and what is barred from entry, before you pay any freight.
- Arrange the reception: the truck’s entry permit and the service lift from the building management, and someone to receive if your travel is delayed.
- Keep with you what cannot be replaced: passports, original certificates, gold and daily medicines.
How do you choose a land and air shipping company from Jeddah to Qatar?
Advertisements on this route are many, and all promise the fastest and the cheapest. The difference between a real carrier and a middleman shows in his answers to simple questions before you pay anything:
| Ask him about | An answer that reassures you | An answer that warns you |
|---|---|---|
| Time | He distinguishes dedicated from shared and mentions the time at the post | “It arrives tomorrow” for a land load from Jeddah |
| Price | He asks about the volume, photographs and address, then itemises | A ready figure before he knows what you are shipping |
| Customs | He asks for the consignee’s residence permit and about new and used items | “Everything is exempt” without a single paper |
| The Qatari side | A broker at Abu Samra and an unloading team in Qatar | His work ends at the border |
| Methods | He has both options and recommends the better one for your load | He pushes you to air for a home’s furniture |
| Legal standing | Commercial registration, a collection receipt and a contract | A mobile number and a transfer to a personal account |
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Qatar
- Putting off the booking until the week of travel, when only a dedicated truck at its full hire is left.
- Placing new appliances in their cartons among used furniture without mentioning them, so duty is assessed on the whole shipment.
- Shipping the furniture long months after its owner entered Qatar, so the exemption window is lost.
- Sending a car for permanent registration without checking the age condition, so it is turned back from Abu Samra.
- Writing a descriptive address without the zone, street and building numbers, so the driver circles Doha for half a day.
- Slipping e-cigarettes or medicines without a prescription into a carton of clothes.
- Comparing offers by the final figure alone, without asking whether it includes packing, clearance and assembly.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Jeddah to Qatar
How much does shipping from Jeddah to Qatar cost?
A small parcel starts from SAR 90, a carton from SAR 140, a suitcase from SAR 230, a cubic metre from SAR 550, a bedroom from SAR 2,000, a flat’s furniture from SAR 4,100, and a car on an open carrier from SAR 2,020. The figure is fixed once we know the volume, your district in Jeddah and the delivery address. To book, call 0552803439.
How long does a shipment take from Jeddah to Doha?
A dedicated truck arrives in 3 to 5 days, a shared load in 5 to 8 days because it waits for the truck to fill, and air freight in one to two days. The time is counted from collection in Jeddah to delivery at the address.
How many kilometres are there between Jeddah and Doha?
About 1,500 km by road: roughly 950 km from Jeddah to Riyadh via Taif, then about 480 km to the Salwa border post via Al-Ahsa, then about 100 km from Abu Samra to Doha.
Where does the truck cross into Qatar?
It crosses at Salwa, the Saudi post on the Gulf of Salwa south of Al-Ahsa, and enters Qatar at Abu Samra opposite it. Every truck coming from Jeddah passes through these two posts, because no other road reaches Qatar by land.
What is the cheapest way to ship between Jeddah and Qatar?
A shared load by land, because you pay only for the space your belongings occupy. The cost drops further when you combine your parcels into one shipment and book outside the peak seasons. Air is dearer for everything except documents and light parcels.
Do used household goods enter Qatar free of customs duty?
The rule in practice is that the luggage and used furniture of someone moving to live there are exempt from duty if they arrive within six months of first entry, with a detailed list of contents, proof of residence and a letter from the employer. The exemption is at the discretion of customs, so we review your papers and confirm the condition in force before loading.
Do you ship cars from Jeddah to Qatar?
Yes. A saloon on a shared open carrier starts from SAR 2,020, a 4×4 from SAR 2,570, and the enclosed carrier from SAR 3,860. The car is secured by all four wheels and photographed before loading.
What documents are needed for shipping?
For household goods: the sender’s ID or Iqama, the consignee’s Qatari residence permit or ID card, and a numbered list of contents. For goods: a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration. For a car: the registration, the export certificate and the owner’s ID.
Is there air freight from Jeddah to Qatar?
Yes, from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Hamad International Airport in about two and a quarter hours of flying. It is for urgent parcels and documents, starting from SAR 14 per kilogram, with documents from SAR 83, and delivery in Doha within one to two days.
Is sea freight from Jeddah to Qatar suitable?
Mostly not. A ship from Jeddah Islamic Port sails round the Arabian Peninsula to reach Hamad Port, so the container takes weeks instead of days. We suggest it only for heavy commercial cargo with no pressing date.
Do you deliver outside Doha?
Yes. We deliver in Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Al Khor, Lusail, Umm Salal, Al Shamal, Al-Shahaniya, Dukhan and Mesaieed. Delivery includes unloading inside the home, and assembly if you ask for it when booking.
Do you ship the luggage of Qatari Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Jeddah?
Yes. We collect the suitcases and cartons from the hotel or residence in Jeddah or from Makkah, and deliver them to their owner’s address in Qatar. Zamzam water is not shipped with luggage.
Do you work with companies, government bodies and embassies?
Yes. Companies get recurring shipping contracts with invoices and full commercial documents, and government bodies and embassies get transport under an official letter from the body, a signed inventory and one officer who follows the shipment until delivery.
How do I follow my shipment after it leaves Jeddah?
With the shipment number you receive on loading day, and with messages that reach you when the truck leaves Jeddah, when it arrives at Salwa, after clearance ends at Abu Samra, and a day before delivery.
Do you ship from Qatar to Jeddah?
Yes. The trucks return from Doha to the Kingdom, so we collect from your address in Qatar and deliver in any district of Jeddah. A returning Saudi brings in his used furniture with a list of contents and proof of his previous residence in Qatar.
