Who ships from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, and what do they ship?
Six groups do most of the shipping on this line, and each has a way of moving goods that fits it. Bahrain is the Kingdom’s nearest neighbour, separated from Khobar by a causeway a car covers in half an hour. So families who work in one country and live in the other move between the two, as do staff transferred between branches of banks and companies, and shops that supply every week. These are the groups and what they carry:
| Shipper | What they ship | Best method |
|---|---|---|
| A family moving to live in Bahrain | A whole home’s furniture and its appliances | A dedicated truck with dismantling and assembly |
| A transferred employee or a student | A bedroom, a desk and cartons | Shared load |
| Someone sending to relatives | Cartons, suitcases, gifts and dates | Land parcels to the consignee’s door |
| A shop, a factory or an online store | Pallets, goods and customer orders | By the pallet or the truck, with the certificate of origin |
| A car owner or a showroom | An ordinary, luxury or classic car | Shared or enclosed carrier |
| A company, an official body or an embassy | Office furniture, equipment, exhibits and files | A dedicated truck on a fixed date |
Shipping methods from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain and how long each takes
Shipping to Bahrain is mostly by land, with air freight for what cannot wait and sea freight for a few cases. A closed truck carries furniture, goods and parcels, and a carrier takes cars, and both cross the causeway. The times in the table are counted from the sender’s door to the consignee’s door, shortest for the eastern cities and longest for those in the west and south:
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| A full truck of your own | The same day from the Eastern Province, one to two days from Riyadh, and 2–4 days from the western region | A whole home’s furniture, and goods by the truck |
| Shared load | 2–4 days from Riyadh, and 4–7 days from the western region | A room or two, and a few cartons and pallets |
| Car carrier | One to 3 days from Riyadh, and 3–6 days from the western region | Cars of every kind |
| Land parcels | 2–7 days depending on the city | Cartons, suitcases and gifts |
| Air freight | One to 3 days | Documents, urgent parcels and spare parts |
| Sea freight from Dammam | Set on request | Loads of exceptional weight or dimensions only |
What lengthens the time?
- The crossing day: at weekends, Eids and school holidays the truck yards on the causeway fill up.
- A vague list of contents: the words “household items” alone push the inspector to open the cartons one by one.
- A missing certificate of origin: Saudi goods without their certificate are treated as if foreign and charged the duty.
- Filling the shared load: the truck waits until it is full, and the wait from distant cities is longer.
- The building’s slot: Manama’s towers set hours for unloading and ask for the service lift to be booked.
To compare all the methods see the shipping methods comparison page, and for times to other destinations the transit times page.
Shipping across the King Fahd Causeway: how does the shipment cross?

Every land shipment to Bahrain crosses the King Fahd Causeway, as it is the only land crossing between the two countries. The causeway starts south of Khobar and ends at the village of Al Jasra in western Bahrain, and it is about 25 km long over the waters of the Gulf. Midway there is an artificial island that brings together both countries’ passport control and customs, so a truck completes the Saudi exit procedure and then the Bahraini entry procedure on the same site, without moving between two distant posts.
Trucks on the causeway have lanes and inspection yards separate from those travellers pass through. The customs declaration is filed electronically before the truck reaches the crossing: in the Kingdom through the Fasah platform, and in Bahrain through the OFOQ system. If it arrives with its list of contents ready and matching what is inside, it goes through the X-ray check and leaves. If its file starts at the counter, it stands in the yard for hours. These are the stages of the crossing:
| Stage | Where it happens | What takes place |
|---|---|---|
| Preparing the file | In your city before loading | A numbered list of contents, copies of IDs, the clearing agent’s authorisation, and filing the advance declaration |
| Arrival in Khobar | The causeway entrance on the Saudi side | Entering the truck lane and weighing the load |
| Export procedure | The middle island, Saudi side | Matching the declaration and the exit stamp |
| Import procedure | The middle island, Bahraini side | X-ray check, manual inspection where needed, and collection of duty or tax if any |
| Entry into Bahrain | Al Jasra | The truck heads for the address, and the furthest area is under an hour away |
We choose midweek days for the crossing whenever your date allows, as they are quieter than Thursday and Friday. The crossings we work through are on the ports and gateways page, and the method is explained on the land freight page.
Shipping to Bahrain from the cities of the Kingdom
We collect from every Saudi city, and what changes from one city to another is its distance from Khobar. The cities of the Eastern Province are at the causeway’s door, so their shipments cross on the day. Riyadh is about 480 km from Manama. And a shipment from Jeddah, Makkah or Madinah crosses the Kingdom from west to east before it sees the causeway. The table sums up each city, with a link to its detailed article where it has one:
| Collection city | Approximate distance to Manama | Full-truck time | Air freight | Detailed article |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran | 50–90 km | The same day or the next | Not needed, as the truck is faster | International shipping company in Dammam |
| Jubail and Qatif | 100–160 km | One day | Not needed | Loaded with the Eastern Province runs |
| Al-Ahsa: Hofuf and Mubarraz | About 200 km | One day | Not needed | Loaded with the Eastern Province runs |
| Riyadh | About 480 km | One to two days | From King Khalid International Airport | Shipping company from Riyadh to Bahrain |
| Qassim: Buraydah and Unaizah | About 800 km | Two to 3 days | Via King Khalid Airport, Riyadh | Passes through Riyadh or heads direct |
| Hail | About 1,100 km | 3–4 days | Via Riyadh airport | Joined to the Qassim runs |
| Madinah | About 1,300 km | 3–4 days | From Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport or via Jeddah | Shipping company from Madinah to Bahrain |
| Makkah | About 1,320 km | 3–4 days | Via King Abdulaziz Airport, Jeddah | Shipping company from Mecca to Bahrain |
| Jeddah | About 1,400 km | 2–4 days | From King Abdulaziz International Airport | Shipping company from Jeddah to Bahrain |
| Taif | About 1,250 km | 3–4 days | Via Jeddah airport | On the road the Jeddah and Makkah trucks take |
| Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan | About 1,450 km from Abha | 3–5 days | Via Jeddah or Riyadh airport | Moved to Riyadh and then the causeway |
| Tabuk | About 1,750 km | 4–6 days | Via Riyadh or Jeddah airport | The furthest city, with its date set at booking |
The Eastern Province: Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Qatif and Al-Ahsa are the Kingdom’s nearest points to Bahrain. A truck is loaded in the morning and crosses the same day, and shops there supply Manama as they would a neighbouring Saudi city. Shipments arriving from other cities are joined to their runs when space is left on the truck.
Riyadh and the central region: the motorway to Dammam makes the trip half a day’s driving, so runs leave the capital almost daily. Shipments from Qassim, Hail and Al-Kharj either pass through Riyadh or head east directly, depending on which fills the load sooner.
Jeddah, Makkah and Taif: their longest leg is between the western region and Riyadh, about 950 km from Jeddah and 870 km from Makkah via Taif. In Makkah large trucks enter at regulated hours that tighten in Ramadan and Hajj, and it has no airport, so its air parcels leave from Jeddah airport. The luggage of Bahraini Umrah pilgrims is collected from hotels.
Madinah and the north: the truck takes the Qassim road to Riyadh, about 850 km, then carries on to Khobar. Dates and visitors’ luggage are what leaves it most. Truck entry to the central area is regulated by hours the traffic department sets, so we check the hours in force before loading day. All the cities we serve are on the cities page.
Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain
The price of shipping to Bahrain is settled by three things: the collection city, the volume of what you ship, and whether you book the whole truck or a place on it. The closer your city is to Khobar the lower the price, so Riyadh’s prices are below those of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. The figures below are what our services start from, from the sender’s door to the consignee’s door, and the lowest of them are taken from the Riyadh line:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| A parcel up to 5 kg | Door-to-door land parcels | SAR 32 |
| A carton | Land freight | SAR 140 |
| A suitcase | Land freight | SAR 230 |
| By the kilogram for quantities | Land freight | SAR 4.6 a kilogram |
| An electrical appliance | Shared load | SAR 165 |
| A cubic metre or a pallet | Shared load | SAR 415 |
| A bedroom | Shared load | SAR 740 |
| A kitchen with dismantling and assembly | Shared load | SAR 830 |
| A small flat’s furniture | Shared load or a small truck | SAR 1,380 |
| A villa’s furniture | Full truck | SAR 3,220 |
| A small car | Shared carrier | SAR 830 |
| Air freight | From the Kingdom’s airports | SAR 14 a kilogram |
| Documents | Express | SAR 83 |
| Heavy equipment and special loads | Flatbed truck, or sea from Dammam | Set on request by dimensions and weight |
Because the price changes with the city, here is a comparison of the four cities that have a detailed article. Its figures match those in each city’s article:
| What you ship | From Riyadh | From Jeddah | From Makkah | From Madinah |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 32 | SAR 41 | SAR 41 | SAR 41 |
| A carton | SAR 140 | SAR 140 | SAR 140 | SAR 140 |
| A cubic metre or a pallet | SAR 415 | SAR 550 | SAR 550 | SAR 550 |
| A bedroom | SAR 740 | SAR 1,100 | SAR 1,100 | SAR 1,100 |
| A small flat’s furniture | SAR 1,380 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 2,300 |
| A villa’s furniture | SAR 3,220 | SAR 5,300 | SAR 5,300 | SAR 5,300 |
| A small car on a shared carrier | SAR 830 | SAR 1,010 | SAR 1,010 | SAR 1,010 |
| A 4×4 | SAR 1,200 | SAR 1,470 | SAR 1,470 | SAR 1,470 |
| A luxury car in an enclosed carrier | SAR 2,020 | SAR 3,220 | SAR 3,220 | SAR 3,220 |
The cities of the Eastern Province are closer to the causeway than Riyadh, so their price is set on request once the volume and both addresses are known. Cities with no article, such as Qassim, Abha and Tabuk, are priced on the nearest city in the table plus the item for inland transport to it.
The prices circulating in the market on this line are above our table in most items. From Riyadh a parcel up to 20 kg is offered at SAR 150 to 250, one of 21 to 50 kg at SAR 300 to 450, and a single carton at about SAR 150. A bedroom is at SAR 1,300 to 2,500, and a flat’s furniture by dedicated truck at SAR 3,000 to 5,500. A small car is at SAR 900 to 1,500, a 4×4 at SAR 1,400 to 2,000, and a luxury car in an enclosed carrier at SAR 2,200 to 3,500. From Dammam, cartons and suitcases are offered at SAR 250 to 550, and a complete home’s furniture at SAR 2,500 to 4,500. Some adverts settle for the words “starts from SAR 450, 650 or 700” without saying what is shipped for that sum. And in the earlier version of this article the figures were SAR 65 to 130 for a parcel up to 5 kg, SAR 1,300 to 1,700 for two rooms of furniture, and SAR 1,200 to 1,500 for a small car.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| The collection city | The strongest factor on this line, as the distance to Khobar ranges from 50 km to more than 1,700 km |
| Volume | It governs furniture and goods. Estimate it with the CBM calculator before you call |
| Dedicated or shared truck | A dedicated one is faster and dearer, and on a shared one you pay for your space only |
| Services at both ends | Dismantling, packing, assembly and storage are items written into the price before loading |
| Floor and lift | At the sender’s home and the consignee’s, and whether a hoist is needed for a piece that will not fit the lift |
| Type of goods | New items carry VAT in Bahrain, and chilled or sensitive goods need special preparation |
| Season and crossing day | Summer, the end of the school year and Eids bring higher demand and a slower crossing |
How do you lower the cost?
- Share the truck with others if your date can bear two or three days.
- Send your cartons in one batch, as a cubic metre is cheaper than scattered cartons.
- Ask for a midweek crossing so that you do not pay for the truck’s waiting.
- Photograph everything you will ship before asking for the price, as a correct estimate prevents a difference appearing on loading day.
- Ask for the price door to door in one figure, and do not piece it together from a carrier, a clearing agent and labourers separately.
All the items are explained on the pricing factors page.
Shipping home and office furniture to Bahrain
Home furniture is moved to Bahrain in a closed truck after it is dismantled, packed and listed, and a bedroom starts from SAR 740 within a shared load. The common mistake is to load furniture unpacked on the grounds that Bahrain is near. In fact the shipment is loaded in one city, part of it may be opened for inspection on the causeway, and then it is unloaded at a tower or a villa on a humid coast. So each piece is prepared as it would be for a longer trip.
- Dismantling: a technician takes apart bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchens and desks, numbers the panels, and ties the bag of screws to its piece.
- Packing: blankets and corrugated cardboard for wood, foam and a wooden crate for glass and marble, and tight stretch wrap for sofas and mattresses to keep the Gulf’s humidity off them.
- Air conditioners: their gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit before removal, and each unit is packed on its own.
- Office furniture: moved at the weekend or after hours so the office’s work does not stop, with workstations numbered to the new premises’ plan.
- Inventory: a numbered list of every piece and carton, the same one presented to customs on the causeway.
- In Bahrain: a team unloads and reassembles what was dismantled, and takes the packing waste away with it.
If your home in Bahrain has not been handed over yet, we keep the shipment packed and listed in the warehouse until you set the delivery day. The service is on the furniture shipping page, and storage on the storage page.
Full truck or shared load? And economy shipping for quantities
A shared load is more economical for anyone shipping up to about three rooms, and a full truck is safer and faster for a whole home or a lot of goods. The number of runs to Bahrain keeps the wait for a shared truck to fill short from Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and longer from the western cities. So if your date is fixed and your city is far, a dedicated truck is the surer choice.
| Comparison | Shared load | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | The space your shipment takes up | The whole truck, full or not |
| Day of departure | When the load is complete | The day you load |
| Number of handlings | It may be moved to a second truck in Riyadh or Dammam | One loading and one unloading |
| Clearance on the causeway | Follows the completeness of the files of everyone on the truck | One file, and it is yours |
| Price starts from | SAR 415 a cubic metre or pallet | SAR 2,300 for a truck with a three-room flat’s furniture from Riyadh |
Anyone shipping large or repeated quantities has a cheaper way of counting: above 100 kg, shipping is charged by the kilogram from SAR 4.6 rather than by the carton, and above four cartons the cubic metre becomes cheaper. A shop that supplies every week agrees a fixed price per pallet or per truck, and what it sends is delivered to several addresses in Bahrain in a single round.
Express shipping of parcels and personal luggage
A small parcel goes by land from SAR 32 up to 5 kg, a carton from SAR 140, and a suitcase from SAR 230, delivered to the consignee’s door. Land freight here is fast by nature: a parcel from Riyadh arrives in two to 4 days, and one from the Eastern Province sooner. So you need air freight only if your city is far or the parcel cannot bear the wait.
- Weight and size: weigh the parcel and measure it before booking, as the price is counted on the greater of the actual and volumetric weights. Use the volumetric weight calculator.
- The carton: double-walled, and no more than 30 kg. A heavy one is split into two.
- The label: the consignee’s name, Bahraini mobile, and building, road and block numbers on every parcel.
- The declaration: write honestly what is in the parcel and its value, as parcels go through the X-ray on the causeway.
- Payment: bank transfer or electronic payment before loading, and it is agreed at booking who pays any charges in Bahrain.
Details of the service are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping electronic and electrical appliances safely
Appliances are shipped to Bahrain by land in packing that absorbs vibration, and a household appliance starts from SAR 165 within a shared load. The advantage of this destination is that its supply is 230 volts and its sockets are three-pin like those used in the Kingdom, so a fridge, a washing machine and a television work there as they are. What damages appliances on the road is not the distance but a moving part left unsecured, or a screen carried lying flat.
- Fridges and washing machines: emptied and dried a day ahead, the washer’s drum fixed with its transit bolts, and the fridge carried upright.
- Screens: in the original carton if there is one, otherwise in a padded wooden crate, and kept standing throughout the trip.
- Phones and computers: the device’s box inside a second carton padded on all six sides.
- New appliances: declared with their invoice and not slipped in among used furniture, as VAT is charged on new items.
- Documentation: a photo of each appliance working before it is packed, and a photo at delivery.
- Loose lithium batteries: not shipped by air, and packed separately in land freight.
Shipping commercial goods from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain
Goods of Saudi origin enter Bahrain without customs duty when they carry a certificate of origin, because both countries are members of the GCC customs union. The price is from SAR 415 a pallet in a shared load. The closeness of the two markets allows supply that needs no large stock: a truck loaded at a factory in Dammam or Riyadh is emptied at a warehouse in Bahrain the same day or the next.
- Certificate of origin: for Saudi and Gulf products, and with it the customs duty falls away.
- Foreign goods: the unified Gulf duty of 5% is charged at their first entry into the GCC states, so keep the proof that it was paid.
- Value added tax: 10% in Bahrain on new goods, collected at import and recovered by a registered importer under its rules.
- Documents: a commercial invoice with items and values, a packing list, and a conformity certificate where one is required.
- Food and dates: with a clear expiry date and a product label, and in a refrigerated truck for what needs chilling.
- Exhibitions and events: we move the exhibits, store them and bring them back after the event, and ask about the temporary admission procedure before shipping.
- Online stores: regular collection from the warehouse, and distribution to customers’ addresses in Bahrain.
The service is on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain

A car is moved to Bahrain on a carrier that crosses the causeway, and the price starts from SAR 830 for a small car from Riyadh and from SAR 1,010 from Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. You may choose a shared carrier that takes several cars, or a private enclosed carrier for your car alone. Anyone travelling in his car and returning in it needs no shipping. Shipping is for someone who has sold his car to a buyer in Bahrain, or has moved to live there, or owns a luxury car he does not want to drive for hundreds of kilometres.
| Carrier | How it works | Suits | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared open, small car | Takes several cars and moves once it is full | Everyday cars | SAR 830 |
| Shared open, 4×4 | A wider place and a heavier load on the carrier | Family cars and pick-ups | SAR 1,200 |
| Private enclosed | A closed box for one car, strapped by its wheels | Luxury, sports and classic cars | SAR 2,020 |
A car that enters Bahrain to be registered there leaves the Kingdom as a final export, and that has conditions we go through with you before the carrier moves:
- Export certificate: issued by the traffic department after fines are paid and the Saudi plates are surrendered, and without this certificate the car is not cleared.
- A financed car: it needs a no-objection letter from the finance provider, or a release, before export.
- The car’s age: Bahrain caps the age of an incoming used car, counted from its year of manufacture. For a long time that cap stood at 5 years, then an extension to 10 years was agreed, so we ask what is actually applied to your model before we start the export papers.
- Customs duty: 5% of its value if its duty has not been paid before in a GCC state, and proof of earlier payment exempts it.
- Specifications: cars that meet Gulf specifications are normally accepted, and we ask about your car’s position if it came from another market.
- Handover to the carrier: empty of belongings, fuel at a quarter, with the body and the odometer photographed in front of you.
The service is on the car shipping page, the general explanation in the car shipping guide, and the full article is car shipping from Saudi Arabia.
Packing that suits the road to Bahrain
Packing on this line is designed for three things rather than for distance: a possible inspection on the causeway, coastal humidity in Bahrain, and unloading in towers with narrow service lifts. A carton opened for inspection has to close again without tearing, and a piece going up fifteen floors has to fit the lift.
- Materials for each piece: bubble wrap and foam for the fragile, double-walled corrugated cardboard for appliances, blankets for wood, and wooden crates for marble and ornaments.
- Protection from humidity: tight stretch wrap on mattresses, sofas and wood, and desiccant bags in the cartons of electronics.
- Numbering that matches the list: a number on each carton against a line in the list of contents, so the inspector finds what he asks for without opening the rest.
- Lift dimensions: we ask for the size of the service lift in the consignee’s building, and dismantle what will not fit before loading, not at the door.
- Securing in the truck: straps and dividers stop the load sliding during the repeated stops in the causeway yards.
Packing methods are in the packing guide, and securing on the packing and lashing page.
Customs clearance and the documents required
Clearance takes place on the causeway for both sides, and we handle all of it under an electronic authorisation from you. The general rule is simple: used personal effects cross without duty, goods of Gulf origin cross without customs duty, and new foreign goods carry the duty and the tax. What decides which class your shipment falls in is the document that travels with it:
| Type of shipment | Charges in Bahrain | Documents |
|---|---|---|
| Used furniture and belongings | Normally no duty for someone moving to live there | The sender’s ID or residence permit, the consignee’s Bahraini card or residence permit, a detailed list of contents, and the clearing agent’s authorisation |
| Goods of Saudi or Gulf origin | No customs duty, and 10% VAT on new goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and both parties’ commercial registration |
| Goods of foreign origin | 5% if not paid on entry to the GCC states, plus VAT | Invoice, packing list, and proof of the earlier duty payment if any |
| A car | 5% if its duty has not been paid before | Registration, export certificate, the owner’s ID, and the consignee’s details |
| Personal parcels | No duty within personal use | A description of the contents and their value, and the consignee’s name, address and mobile |
Before shipping we tell you what duty or tax to expect on your shipment, and who pays it, so the consignee is not surprised at the door. Some restricted items need a licence from the competent authority in Bahrain, so we ask about it before loading, not after. The papers are explained on the shipping documents page, and the procedure on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to Bahrain or needs a permit
Some items are never loaded, and some are shipped under a licence or in a limited quantity. The truck goes through the X-ray machine, so one undeclared item stops the whole load, and with it other people’s shipments on a shared truck.
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Narcotics, psychotropic substances and alcohol | Not shipped from the Kingdom |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited, or under a licence from the security authorities |
| Tobacco and its products in commercial quantities | Under licence and excise tax |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with the prescription |
| Wireless communication devices and drones | With a prior permit |
| Perfumes, aerosols, flammable materials and gas cylinders | Not loaded with furniture, and subject to conditions in air freight |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Stay with their owner and are not put in the shipment |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Manama, Muharraq, Riffa and the rest of Bahrain

We deliver in Bahrain’s four governorates, and usually on the day of the crossing itself. Bahrain is a group of close islands joined by internal bridges, and its furthest address is less than an hour from the King Fahd Causeway. What differs from one area to another is the nature of the building and the street: towers in Manama, old lanes in Muharraq, and spacious villas in Riffa.
| Governorate | Main areas | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Capital | Manama, Juffair, Seef, Adliya, Umm Al Hassam, Sitra | Towers that require the service lift to be booked and set hours for unloading, and the Manama souq is entered by a small vehicle |
| Muharraq | Muharraq, Busaiteen, Arad, Galali, Hidd, Amwaj Islands, Diyar Al Muharraq | Reached over bridges from Manama, and its old quarters have narrow lanes, so we carry in by small vehicle |
| Northern | Hamad Town, Saar, Budaiya, Al Jasra, A’ali, Buri | The first the truck reaches after the causeway |
| Southern | East and West Riffa, Isa Town, Awali, Zallaq, Durrat Al Bahrain | Villas and gated residential compounds, with entry arranged with security |
The delivery team unloads the shipment and carries it into the rooms, and reassembles what was dismantled in the sending country. A Bahraini address is written with the building, road and block numbers, so send them with a local mobile number. Details of the destination are on the shipping to Bahrain page.
Door to door: collection in the Kingdom and delivery in Bahrain
The service starts at the door of your home or warehouse in the Kingdom and ends inside the consignee’s home, and you need not go to an office or to the causeway. A team comes at the agreed time with the packing materials, loads, and hands you a copy of the list of contents. In Bahrain the driver calls the consignee before arrival to confirm that he is there and that entry to the building is permitted.
- Collection time: set by day and hour, in the morning or the evening as suits you.
- Narrow districts at both ends: a small vehicle shuttles between the door and the large truck when the truck cannot enter the street.
- Hotels and furnished flats: we collect visitors’ and Umrah pilgrims’ luggage from reception by prior arrangement.
- More than one point: a shipment can be gathered from two addresses in the Kingdom, or split between two addresses in Bahrain.
- The price: covers the items agreed, and states plainly what it does not cover.
The service is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Shipping solutions for individuals, companies, official bodies and embassies
The truck is the same, but what each customer asks of the service differs. A family cares that its furniture arrives intact at a known price. A company cares about a date that does not move and a tax invoice. An official body cares about the record and the letter. So we arrange the service around each party’s need:
| Customer | What matters to them | What we provide |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals, families and expatriates | Safe belongings and a price that does not change on loading day | An estimate from photos, dismantling, packing and assembly, and a price with its items set out in writing |
| Companies and factories | The date and the tax documents | A dedicated truck, tax invoices, and an annual contract at a fixed price for regular runs |
| Shops and start-ups | A low cost for small quantities | Shipping by the pallet or carton within regular shared loads |
| Exhibition and event organisers | Arriving before the opening and returning after it | Transport, temporary storage and return shipping |
| Government bodies | Formal procedure and documentation | Letters, a handover record, and sealed packing for files |
| Embassies and missions | Privacy and diplomatic exemption | Coordinating the exemption documents with the mission, and delivery inside the premises |
Is there sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain?
Yes, there is, but it is not the practical choice for most shipments. The sea line links King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with Khalifa bin Salman Port in Hidd, and Dammam port itself is under an hour from the causeway entrance. So a container that reaches Dammam can carry on by its truck and cross by road in hours, instead of waiting for a ship and then handling at two ports.
From Jeddah and the Red Sea coast, sea makes even less sense: the ship heads south to Bab al-Mandab, then sails round the Arabian Peninsula and enters the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, on a voyage far longer than the truck’s days. So we suggest sea in one case only: equipment or a load with dimensions and weights the causeway does not allow or a truck cannot carry. Our sea services are on the sea freight page, and equipment on the heavy equipment shipping page.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain

Air freight to Bahrain delivers documents and urgent parcels in one to 3 days, and its price starts from SAR 14 a kilogram, with express documents from SAR 83. The flight itself is short: about an hour from Riyadh and a little over two hours from Jeddah, landing at Bahrain International Airport in Muharraq. The rest of the time goes on clearance at both airports and delivery to the address.
The plane’s benefit shows the further your city is from Khobar. From Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Abha and Tabuk it cuts days off the truck’s road. From Riyadh it cuts a single night. From Dammam and Khobar it cuts nothing, as the truck there gets in first.
- What suits it: contracts and documents, commercial samples, spare parts, medicines with their prescriptions, and light gifts.
- Departure airports: King Khalid in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz in Jeddah, King Fahd in Dammam, and Madinah airport, or via Jeddah when no suitable flight is available.
- How it is counted: a parcel is priced on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so a light, bulky carton is counted by its size.
- Delivery: from the airport or to the consignee’s address, as you ask.
- What does not go by air: loose batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids, and it does not suit furniture or large appliances.
- When to go back to land: if the weight is above about 30 kg and the date is not critical, as the price difference is large.
The service is on the air freight page, and in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
How do you book your shipment to Bahrain? The steps from the call to delivery
Booking is done by phone, WhatsApp or the website form, and needs no visit. These are the steps in the order they happen:
- The request: you send the list of what you are shipping and its photos, your city and district, and the consignee’s address in Bahrain.
- The price: it reaches you itemised: transport, dismantling and packing, clearance, assembly, and the charges to expect.
- Confirmation: we set the loading day, and ask for a copy of your ID, the consignee’s card and the clearing agent’s authorisation.
- Packing and inventory: at your premises, where the numbered list of contents is written and you take your copy.
- Advance declaration: filed electronically while the truck is on the road, so it reaches the causeway with its file registered.
- The crossing: clearance for both sides on the middle island, and a message to you when the truck leaves.
- Delivery: unloading, carrying in and assembly at the consignee’s address.
- Closing: the consignee signs the delivery record after checking the pieces against the list.
Keeping to schedule: what we promise and what we do not
We give you a date with a realistic margin and keep to it, and we do not promise what no carrier controls. The loading date is in our hands, and so is the arrival time at the causeway. The time spent standing in the customs yard, though, follows congestion and how accurate the file is, and we reduce it with what we do control: a file submitted in advance, a quiet crossing day, and a list that matches the load.
- A date in writing: the loading day and the delivery window are stated in the booking confirmation.
- Notice of any change: if the truck is held up on the causeway you hear it from us at the time, not from the consignee.
- Priority for the urgent: a shipment with a critical date gets a dedicated truck, or is loaded last so that it is unloaded first.
- No impossible promises: “within 12 hours” holds for a parcel from Khobar, not for a home’s furniture dismantled and packed in Jeddah.
Among our means of holding the date and lightening the footprint together: we plan runs so that the truck does not return empty from Bahrain, we reuse blankets and wooden crates between shipments, and we submit files electronically instead of on paper.
Tracking, insurance and customer service
You know where your shipment is at every stage through one number and one person in charge. After loading you receive the shipment number and the name of whoever is following it, then a message at each point: leaving your city, entering the truck lane in Khobar, the end of clearance, and nearing the address.
- Tracking: by shipment number, and you can share the updates with the consignee in Bahrain. The page: track your shipment.
- Photo documentation: before packing, after loading, and at delivery.
- Insurance: optional, counted as a percentage of the value you declare, and we advise it for cars, appliances and ornaments. The page: cargo insurance.
- Claims: any remark is written in the delivery record before signing, together with the photos, as that is the basis of compensation.
- Customer service: by phone and WhatsApp from 7 am to 11 pm every day, with a fixed account manager for contract customers.
Examples of shipments on this line and how they are handled
These are cases that recur on the Bahrain line, set out so that you know which arrangement fits yours before you call. They are examples of how the work is done, not customer testimonials:
| The case | The fitting arrangement | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| A family moving a whole home from Riyadh to a flat in a Manama tower | A dedicated truck, dismantling and packing in a day, and crossing and delivery the next day | Booking the service lift and getting its dimensions before loading |
| A luxury car sold in Jeddah to a buyer in Bahrain | An enclosed carrier once the export certificate is issued | Checking the car’s age and that its Gulf duty was paid earlier |
| A shop in Dammam supplying pallets every week | A regular run at a fixed price, with a certificate of origin for each shipment | Counting the 10% VAT into the cost of the goods |
| A Bahraini Umrah pilgrim with excess luggage in Makkah | Collection from the hotel, and land freight by the carton | No Zamzam water goes in the shipment, and the truck entry hours in the seasons |
| A document or spare part needed tomorrow | Air freight from the nearest airport with delivery to the address | The address with its three numbers and a Bahraini mobile number |
Shipping from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia
The service runs in both directions in the same way. Our team in Bahrain collects from the address, packs and lists, the truck crosses the causeway towards Khobar, and then we deliver to any city in the Kingdom. A Saudi returning from work in Bahrain usually brings in his used furniture without duty on a list of contents. A product of Bahraini origin enters the Kingdom without customs duty on its certificate of origin, and some items need a conformity certificate that we tell you about before loading.
Tips before you ship to Bahrain
- Ask the building management in Bahrain about the permitted unloading hours and booking the service lift before you set the loading day.
- Write the list of contents carton by carton as you pack, not from memory after sealing.
- Put new appliances with their invoices in separate, marked cartons.
- Keep with you the passports, contracts, gold, medicines and the chargers you will need on the first day.
- Ask for a crossing on Sunday to Tuesday if you can.
- Give the consignee the shipment number and the driver’s name, and make sure his Bahraini mobile is working on delivery day.
How do you choose a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain?
A company that knows this line asks you before it prices: from which city? Are the belongings used or new? What is the origin of the goods? Where does the consignee live? If it gives you a figure the moment it hears the word “Bahrain”, it has not calculated anything yet. These are six things to check:
| What to ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | A commercial registration and a receipt in the establishment’s name | A mobile number and a personal account only |
| Time | Differs with your city, and is stated with a margin | One time for every city in the Kingdom |
| Price | Itemised after the volume and both addresses are known | A big discount on a price whose origin you do not know |
| Customs and tax | Distinguishes used from new, and Gulf from foreign | “No customs and no tax on anything” |
| Clearance on the causeway | An advance declaration and an electronic authorisation for the agent | Asks you to attend the crossing yourself |
| Delivery in Bahrain | A team that unloads and assembles inside the home | Its role ends at the building’s door or at the causeway |
Common mistakes when shipping from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain
- Taking packing lightly because Bahrain is near.
- Loading cartons without a numbered list, so all of them are opened on the causeway.
- Sending Saudi goods without a certificate of origin, so a duty is paid that would have fallen away.
- Buying a car for export before checking Bahrain’s age condition and that it is free of any lien.
- Comparing a price from Riyadh with one from Jeddah as if the distance were the same.
- Writing the address with the area name only, without the building, road and block numbers.
- Choosing to cross on the eve of Eid or the last day before a long holiday.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain
How much does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain cost?
The lowest prices are from Riyadh, because it is close to the causeway: SAR 32 for a parcel of no more than 5 kg, SAR 140 for a carton, SAR 740 for a bedroom, and SAR 830 for a small car on a shared carrier. From Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah a parcel starts from SAR 41, a bedroom from SAR 1,100, and a car from SAR 1,010. Once we know the size of your shipment, your city and the consignee’s address, we give you the final figure. Our number is 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain take?
The time follows how far your city is from Khobar. Shipments from Dammam and Khobar cross on the day or the day after. From Riyadh it is one to two days with a truck of your own, and two to 4 days if you share. From Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah it is 2 to 4 days by full truck and 4 to 7 days by shared load. By plane, one to 3 days.
Where does a land shipment enter Bahrain?
Over the King Fahd Causeway, which runs for 25 km between Khobar and Al Jasra, and Bahrain has no other land crossing. That is why every truck coming from the Kingdom passes over it, whichever city it was loaded in.
Do I need to be at the causeway on the day my shipment crosses?
That is not required. You authorise the clearing agent electronically before the truck moves and send a copy of your ID or residence permit and of the consignee’s card, and we complete the Saudi and Bahraini procedures and tell you when the truck leaves the customs yard.
Are customs duties charged on my used furniture in Bahrain?
As a rule, the furniture and used belongings of someone moving to live there enter without duty, provided they come with a detailed list of contents and proof of residence in Bahrain. New items in their boxes are declared with their invoices, and VAT may be charged on them.
What taxes apply to commercial goods entering Bahrain?
Goods of Saudi and Gulf origin carry no customs duty if they have a certificate of origin. Foreign goods are charged the unified Gulf duty of 5% once, at their first entry into the GCC states. In Bahrain a 10% value added tax is added on new goods.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain?
On a shared carrier: from SAR 830 for a small car and SAR 1,200 for a 4×4 if it is in Riyadh, and from SAR 1,010 and SAR 1,470 if it is in Jeddah, Makkah or Madinah. An enclosed carrier for a luxury car is from SAR 2,020 from Riyadh and SAR 3,220 from the western region.
What is the age condition for a used car entering Bahrain?
As things stand, the limit was 5 years from the year of manufacture and raising it to 10 years was then approved, and how it is applied follows what the Bahraini authorities announce. So we review your car’s position by model and year before we obtain the export certificate.
Can I drive my car to Bahrain instead of shipping it?
Yes, if you are travelling in it and coming back, since it crosses the causeway on its Saudi plates with insurance bought at the crossing. Shipping on a carrier is needed when the car is sold to a buyer in Bahrain, or you are moving by air, or it is a car whose mileage you do not want to add to.
Do you ship electrical and electronic appliances to Bahrain?
Yes. A household appliance starts from SAR 165 within a shared load, and phones and computers travel in their boxes inside a second padded carton. The supply in Bahrain is 230 volts and its sockets are three-pin like those used in the Kingdom, so you need no adaptor.
Is there sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain?
There is a line between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Khalifa bin Salman Port in Hidd, but we recommend it only for a load heavier or wider than a truck carries. The causeway delivers the same container by road in hours, and from Jeddah the ship sails round the whole Arabian Peninsula.
When should I choose air freight to Bahrain?
When the shipment cannot wait for the truck: a document needed tomorrow, a spare part, a medicine with its prescription, or a parcel from a distant city such as Jeddah, Abha or Tabuk. The price is from SAR 14 a kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83. If you are in Dammam or Khobar, the truck is faster than the plane.
Which areas of Bahrain do you deliver to?
To all four governorates: Manama, Juffair and Seef in the Capital; Muharraq, Hidd and Amwaj; Hamad Town, Saar and Budaiya in the Northern; and Riffa, Isa Town and Zallaq in the Southern. For the old lanes of Muharraq and the Manama souq we send a small vehicle.
How do I write the consignee’s address in Bahrain?
With three numbers every resident there knows: the building number, the road number and the block number, together with the area name and a Bahraini mobile number. Add the flat number and the floor, and say whether the building has a service lift that is booked in advance.
Do you ship from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Our team collects from your address in Bahrain, we clear on the causeway in the opposite direction, and we deliver in any Saudi city. A citizen returning with his used furniture usually brings it in without duty on a list of contents, and we confirm the conditions in force before loading.
