Who moves furniture from Dammam to Morocco?
Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran and Jubail are home to Moroccans working in hospitals, schools, hotels, and energy and contracting companies. Most of those who call us have finished a contract and want their home to come with them, not a carton or two. Alongside them are Saudis and other Arabs who have bought a house in Morocco or taken up a job there. The table shows who orders the service and what suits each.
| Owner of the furniture | What they usually move | What we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| A Moroccan family returning for good after years in the Eastern Province | Bedrooms, the lounge, the kitchen, appliances, books and children’s toys | A private 20ft container, with the exemption file complete |
| A single employee, or a couple without children | A bed, a wardrobe, a desk, a television and cartons | A shared container charged by the cubic metre |
| A family living in a villa in Khobar or Dhahran | The full furniture of a villa, sometimes with a car | A private 40ft container |
| A Saudi or a resident who has bought a house in Morocco | A majlis and rooms, new or used | A private container, with duties payable because the exemption does not cover him |
| An employee seconded to his company’s Casablanca branch | Personal effects and a few pieces | Part load by sea, with anything urgent by air |
Our first question is always the same: is the return final? The answer settles the paperwork and the duties, and only then do volume and container come up.
The route for moving furniture from Dammam to Morocco, and how long it takes
Dammam lies on the Arabian Gulf and Morocco on the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, with the whole Arabian Peninsula in between. The container therefore goes through a stage that a Jeddah container skips: getting to a ship that is heading west. For household furniture the usual course is to seal the container at your home and truck it to Jeddah Islamic Port, from where it sails north to the Suez Canal and across the Mediterranean. The alternative is to load it at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, in which case the ship first rounds the Arabian Peninsula.
| Stage | What happens | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Survey and sizing | A home visit or video clips of the rooms, then choosing the container size | One day |
| Dismantling, packing and inventory | The crew works in the home, and the container is loaded and sealed in front of you | A day for a flat, two for a villa |
| Haulage to the port | A truck to Jeddah port via Riyadh, or a short run to Dammam port | Two days to Jeddah, hours to Dammam port |
| Export and waiting for the ship | The export declaration and handing the container to the shipping line | 2–4 days |
| Sailing | From Jeddah through Suez and the Mediterranean, or from Dammam around the Arabian Peninsula and then the same course | 10–22 days from Jeddah, and about a week longer from Dammam |
| Clearance in Morocco | Lodging the declaration, inspection and issue of the release | A few days with a complete file |
| Delivery and reassembly | A truck to the consignee’s city, then unloading and reassembly | One to 3 days |
Put the stages together and these are the door-to-door times:
| Method | Time to the consignee’s door | When we choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Private container via Jeddah port | 23–35 days | The usual choice for a whole home |
| Private container from Dammam port | Roughly 30–42 days, depending on the service available | When the owner is in no hurry and a suitable service exists |
| Shared container | 32–42 days | A room or two and cartons |
| Air freight | 4–7 days | Small pieces and urgent luggage |
What lengthens the transit?
- Choosing Dammam port: it saves the road haul to Jeddah but adds the days spent rounding the Arabian Peninsula.
- Transhipment: a good number of carriers swap vessels at a hub along the way, which leaves your arrival date depending on when the onward ship sails.
- Filling the shared container: your pieces wait in the consolidation warehouse until the Morocco shipments are complete.
- A missing paper: an expired certificate of change of residence or an unsigned inventory holds up the release at the Moroccan port.
- Summer: the season when families return after the school year ends, and the wait for space on ships grows.
To see how long other countries take, open transit times; to weigh sea against air, open the shipping methods comparison.
Sea container freight from Dammam to Casablanca and Tanger Med

Household furniture travels to Morocco in a container, and no other method carries a bedroom or a lounge suite at a sensible price. A 20ft or 40ft container is made ready at the door of the home in Dammam and heads to Casablanca or Tanger Med, depending on the consignee’s city. You choose between a private container that nobody shares with you and a shared container in which you pay only for the space you take.
| Port of loading | How the container reaches it from Dammam | The ship’s course | For and against |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jeddah Islamic Port | A container truck covering about 1,350 km via Riyadh | The Red Sea, then Suez, then the Mediterranean | Shorter overall, with the road haul added as an item |
| King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam | A run within the city | The Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Sea, then the Red Sea and Suez, or with transhipment at a hub port | No long road haul, and a longer voyage |
In recent years a weekly liner service was announced that calls at Dammam and Jubail and reaches Tanger Med, but line schedules and routings change. So we do not promise a port of loading before checking the ships available in the week of your shipment, and we write both options down for you with their times and prices.
| Port of arrival | Location | Cities it serves |
|---|---|---|
| Casablanca | On the Atlantic, midway along the coast | Casablanca, Mohammedia, Rabat, Salé, El Jadida and Marrakech, with Agadir by road |
| Tanger Med | On the Strait of Gibraltar | Tangier, Tetouan, Fes, Meknes, Oujda and Nador |
| Agadir | On the Atlantic, in the Souss | Agadir, Inezgane, Taroudant and Tiznit, when a service to it is available |
The port follows the consignee’s address, not the other way round. Furniture bound for Fes mostly lands at Tanger Med, and furniture bound for Rabat or Agadir lands at Casablanca. The service is explained on the sea freight page, and the ports we work with on the ports and gateways page.
Prices for furniture moving from Dammam to Morocco
The price has three parts: what happens in the home — dismantling, packing and loading — then the sea or air freight, then hauling the container from Dammam to the port. The first two have published starting points, and the third depends on the port chosen and the loading day, so we set it on request. These are the starting points:
| What you move | Method | Starts from |
|---|---|---|
| One cubic metre of furniture or cartons | Shared container | SAR 780 |
| Smallest sea shipment | Shared container, minimum | SAR 1,000 |
| Furniture and personal effects | Shared container | SAR 2,300 |
| 20ft container | Private container, from the port quay | SAR 7,800 |
| 40ft container | Private container, from the port quay | SAR 14,720 |
| Saloon car | RoRo | SAR 2,200 |
| Car in its own 20ft container | Container with lashing | SAR 10,100 |
| Small pieces and luggage above 100 kg | Air, per kilogram | SAR 28 a kilogram |
| Parcel of up to 5 kg | Air | SAR 320 |
| Documents and papers | Express | SAR 83 |
| Hauling the container from Dammam to the port | Container truck | Set on request |
| Clearance, delivery and reassembly in Morocco | According to the port and the consignee’s city | Set on request |
Prices circulating in the market for the Saudi–Morocco route are higher than these starting points, and we found nobody publishing a price specific to Dammam. What circulates is that a bedroom with its cartons in a shared container is offered at SAR 2,500 to 4,500, a cubic metre at SAR 850 to 1,500, a whole flat in a 20ft container at SAR 8,500 to 13,000, and a villa in a 40ft container at SAR 16,000 to 22,000. Anyone shipping from the Eastern Province is asked for the haul to the port on top. Sea freight shifts from one month to the next, so the binding figure is the one fixed on the day of booking.
How are the costs of moving furniture from Dammam to Morocco calculated?
There is nothing obscure about the sum. We measure the volume of the furniture once dismantled, pick the type of container accordingly, and then add the services you ordered and the road and port charges. Every item gets its own line, so you see what you are paying and why.
| Item | How it enters the sum |
|---|---|
| Number and size of pieces | The first thing that sets the price. More pieces mean more cubic metres. Estimate them with the CBM calculator |
| Type of container | Shared, by the cubic metre, or private at a flat rate for its size |
| Port of loading | Jeddah adds a long road haul, and Dammam adds days at sea |
| Road and port charges | Container handling, the export declaration and quay charges at both ends, listed in the offer item by item |
| Complementary services | Dismantling and reassembly, timber crates, a hoist for upper floors, and storage |
| Delivery city in Morocco | The distance from the port to the consignee’s home, and whether a truck can enter the street |
| Moroccan customs duties | Outside the moving price, and borne by the consignee unless the returnee exemption covers him |
For a first estimate before the survey: cartons with a single room usually take up a few cubic metres and suit a shared container. A flat of two to three bedrooms fills a 20ft container. A villa, or a flat together with a car, needs a 40ft.
How do you bring the cost down?
- Sort before the survey. An old timber kitchen, mattresses and tired wardrobes take up cubic metres that are not worth their freight.
- Ask for a comparison between a shared container and a 20ft if your volume approaches half a container.
- Accept Dammam port if you are in no hurry and a service is available: the longer voyage may be offset by the saving on the truck to Jeddah.
- Get the exemption paperwork finished while you are still in the Kingdom. Uncertified furniture can attract more in duty than you paid to move it.
These items are set out in detail on the pricing factors page.
What is particular about moving furniture from Dammam?
Every city has its own conditions, and Dammam has four that change the way the job is done compared with Jeddah or Riyadh.
- A port on the other coast: King Abdulaziz Port is close to home, but it faces the Gulf, not the Red Sea. So for every shipment we work out which of the two routes fits better.
- An airport for urgent items: King Fahd International Airport lies north-west of the city, and small pieces and suitcases leave from it.
- Gated residential compounds: many families in Dhahran, Khobar and Jubail live in company compounds, and getting the truck and crew inside needs a permit, which we request before loading day.
- Gulf humidity and heat: summer in the Eastern Province is hot and humid, which governs working hours and the packing method.
The rest of our services in the city are in the article international shipping company in Dammam.
Dismantling, packing and listing the furniture at home in Dammam

Half the success of a move is decided on packing day. The crew arrives at your home with its materials and works room by room: dismantling and packing at home, then numbering every piece, then a numbered inventory that matches what is written on the cartons. That inventory is not an internal sheet; Moroccan customs read it and the consignee signs it.
- Photographs before dismantling: we photograph each piece assembled, multi-door wardrobes above all, so that it can be rebuilt in Morocco without guesswork.
- Dismantling: beds, wardrobes, dining tables and bookcases. Screws and hinges go in a bag taped to the piece itself and bearing its number.
- Appliances: the fridge is unplugged a day ahead and dried, the washing machine drum is fixed with its transit bolts, and an air-conditioning technician removes the units.
- Numbering: a visible number on two faces of every carton and every piece, with the name of the room it will go into.
- Inventory: a description of each item with its quantity and approximate value, in Arabic or French, dated and signed by you.
- Sealing: the container is closed in front of you with a seal whose number is written on the bill of lading, and it is not opened before the Moroccan port except at the request of customs.
The service is explained on the furniture shipping page, and the packing materials in the packing guide.
How do large pieces leave the home without a scratch?
Scratches do not happen at sea; they happen in the corridor, on the stairs and at the flat door. That is why the crew follows set methods for carrying each kind of piece, and uses tools that take the load off their backs and stop things slipping.
| Piece or tool | Working method |
|---|---|
| Tall furniture such as a wardrobe or bookcase | Tilted at an angle and carried by two men, one at the top and one at the bottom, so it neither swings nor hits the ceiling |
| Armchairs | Turned on their side and hooked round the door frame in an L shape, so they pass through an opening narrower than they are |
| Sofas | Stood on end and taken through the door at a slant, with the legs removed first if they come off |
| Shoulder and lifting straps | They shift the weight from the back to the shoulders and legs, and are adjusted to the worker’s height and the size of the piece |
| Furniture sliders | Placed under the feet of a heavy piece so it is pulled across tiles or carpet instead of carried |
| Moving blankets | Wrapped round polished surfaces and laid over door edges and lift walls |
| Mattress straps and bags | They stop the mattress folding and give the worker a handle, and the bag keeps out dust and damp |
The crew’s safety is part of the furniture’s safety. Gloves and closed shoes, at least two men for every heavy piece, and nobody carrying backwards down a staircase without a guide.
Crew, equipment and trucks
An international move rests on three things: labour that knows dismantling and packing, equipment that lifts what hands cannot, and vehicles suited to each stage. We send each home what it needs of these after the survey, not a fixed number.
- Labour: a carpenter for dismantling and reassembly, packers, and a supervisor who writes the inventory and checks the numbers before sealing.
- Hoist: for upper floors when a piece will not pass by the stairs or the lift, so it comes down from the balcony or window. It is ordered when needed and stated in the offer.
- Trolleys and hand trucks: for fridges, washing machines and steel cabinets.
- Container truck: it stands at the home for direct loading. If the street is too narrow for it, we load into a small closed truck and transfer to the container in the yard.
- Agents: a sea and air agent for booking the ship and the aircraft, and an agent in Morocco for clearance, unloading and reassembly.
Packing that stands up to Gulf humidity and weeks at sea
A container is a closed steel box that passes through the heat of the Gulf, then the Red Sea, then the cool of the Mediterranean. Moisture that goes in with the furniture condenses on the walls and drips onto what lies below. So we pack in air-conditioned rooms, dry anything that has touched water, and choose the right material for each piece.
| Piece | Suitable packing |
|---|---|
| Polished wood and bedroom sets | A blanket or soft paper on the surface, then corrugated board and corner guards |
| Sofas, the Moroccan salon and cushions | A fabric cover first, then plastic wrap, so the textile does not sweat |
| Mirrors, glass and marble | Each sheet in a cardboard or timber frame, loaded upright |
| Fridge, washing machine and oven | Dried inside, shelves and doors secured, and reinforced cardboard |
| Carpets, curtains and soft furnishings | Rolled dry and put into sealed bags |
| Crockery, ornaments and chandeliers | Paper for each piece and double-wall cartons, with valuables in a timber crate |
Moisture-absorbing bags are hung inside the container, and the pieces are strapped to the wall rings so they do not shift on the road leg or when the ship rolls. The lashing method is on the packing and lashing page.
Private container or shared container?
A private container is loaded at your home and stays sealed all the way to Morocco, so no hand touches your furniture between Dammam and the port of arrival. A shared one is cheaper for someone with little to move, but his pieces pass through a consolidation warehouse and are stowed with other people’s shipments.
| Point of comparison | Private container | Shared container |
|---|---|---|
| Price starts from | SAR 7,800 for a 20ft and SAR 14,720 for a 40ft | SAR 780 a cubic metre, with a minimum of SAR 1,000 |
| Capacity | About 33 cubic metres in the 20ft and about 67 in the 40ft | From one carton to about 15 cubic metres |
| Time to the door | 23–35 days via Jeddah | 32–42 days |
| Handling | One loading in Dammam and one unloading in Morocco | Loading, consolidation and sorting, then unloading |
| For whom | A flat or a villa, or furniture with a car | A room or two, or cartons and effects |
The internal dimensions of each size are on the container sizes page.
The exemption for returning Moroccans’ furniture, and electrical appliances
The rule in force at Moroccan customs is that a Moroccan living abroad who transfers his residence for good brings in his used furniture and effects free of duty. He is asked for the original certificate of change of residence, proof of residence in the Kingdom, and a detailed inventory, dated and signed. The import takes place within six months of the date of the certificate, in no more than two consecutive shipments both entered on the same list. The exemption is granted once per family.
The certificate is issued by the Moroccan consular services in the Kingdom: the embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate General in Jeddah. Someone living in Dammam is far from both, so it is best to ask by phone which one covers him and which papers are required, and then travel once with the file complete. Do not leave this until after the final exit visa.
The exemption has limits. Of large household appliances, one of each kind is normally accepted, and anything new in its box is treated as merchandise. Someone who is not a returnee, such as a buyer of a house there, is charged duties and value added tax at a standard rate of 20%. These rules are revised in the finance laws, and we confirm what is in force before shipping.
As for electricity, mains power in Morocco is 220 volts at 50 hertz with round two-pin sockets, while in the Kingdom the frequency is 60 hertz and the plug is mostly three-pin. Appliances whose plate reads 50/60 hertz work with a change of plug alone. Those marked 60 hertz only, like some older air conditioners and washing machines, may perform poorly or wear out sooner there.
Documents and customs clearance
The paperwork for furniture is short but exacting. We check it in Dammam before the container is sealed, because correcting a name or adding a signature here takes an hour, and after the ship has berthed it takes days on which storage charges accrue.
| Shipper | Documents | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A Moroccan returning for good | His passport; the change-of-residence certificate in the original; evidence that he lived in the Kingdom; the inventory bearing his signature; and the bill of lading | Import within six months of the date of the certificate |
| A non-Moroccan moving for work or to live | Passport, employment contract or Moroccan residence card or title deed, inventory | His case is reviewed with the clearing agent before shipping |
| A sender of effects and cartons | Statement of contents with quantity and value, and the consignee’s name, address and phone | Personal, not commercial, quantity |
| A car owner | Registration, export certificate from the traffic department, bill of lading | The age rule is settled before booking |
In the Kingdom we complete the export declaration. In Morocco the clearing agent lodges the declaration and attends the inspection with the owner of the furniture or his representative, and then the release is issued. Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page, and the release stages on the customs clearance page.
What does not go into the furniture container
A home is full of small things its owner overlooks on packing day: a tin of paint in the store room, the barbecue gas cylinder, cleaning sprays. A single one of them is enough to have the whole container opened at the port.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Gas cylinders, fuel, paints, solvents and aerosols | Set aside before loading |
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited |
| Perishable food, plants and soil | They do not survive the journey, and some carry agricultural restrictions |
| Drones and radio equipment | With prior permission from the competent Moroccan authority |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with the prescription |
| New appliances in their boxes | They are shipped, but fall outside the used-furniture exemption |
| Gold, cash, passports and original certificates | They travel with you, not in the container |
The full list is on the prohibited items page.
The car with the furniture: car shipping from Dammam to Morocco
Anyone going home with his furniture usually asks about his car. It has two ways to travel: RoRo from SAR 2,200 for a saloon, where the car is driven into the ship’s hold and travels uncovered inside it. Or its own 20ft container from SAR 10,100, in which it is lashed by the wheels. And whoever puts the car and the furniture in a 40ft container from SAR 14,720 pays a single sea freight.
The decision starts with the car’s age, however. The rule in force is that a passenger car more than five years past its first registration cannot be imported into Morocco permanently, with a conditional exception for returning retirees. We ask for the model, the registration date and your status before any payment, and we arrange the export certificate from the traffic department in Dammam. The detail is in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Morocco.
Effects and cartons without furniture
Not everyone who calls has rooms to move. Some leave a furnished flat with ten cartons, two suitcases and a television. These go by sea in a shared container with a minimum of SAR 1,000, or by air if the owner needs them in his first week. Write the contents of each carton on its side, and keep the clothes you need for the first month in your flight luggage. The service is on the parcel shipping page.
Delivering and reassembling furniture from Dammam in Casablanca, Rabat, Fes and Agadir

The journey ends when the bed stands in its room, not when the container leaves the port. After release our agent carries the furniture to the consignee’s city, his crew handles unloading and reassembly in the home, and then the consignee checks the numbers against the inventory and signs.
| City | Usual port | Approximate road distance | What we ask before delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casablanca and Mohammedia | Casablanca | Within the city and its surroundings | The floor and the size of the lift |
| Rabat, Salé and Temara | Casablanca | About 90 km | The hours when trucks may enter the district |
| Fes and Meknes | Tanger Med, or Casablanca | About 300 km | Whether the home is inside the old medina, whose lanes take no vehicle |
| Agadir, Inezgane and Taroudant | Casablanca, or Agadir | About 460 km from Casablanca | An agreed appointment, given the distance |
| Marrakech | Casablanca | About 240 km | The nearest gate a truck can reach if the home is a riad |
| Tangier and Tetouan | Tanger Med | Up to 50 km | The slope of the street and where the truck can stand |
| Oujda and Nador | Tanger Med | About 550 km to Oujda | Two to three days after release |
Reassembly covers beds, wardrobes, tables and bookcases, and putting each carton in the room written on it. Connecting the washing machine and the air conditioner to water and power is work for local technicians, which we arrange on request. The service is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Is there a land route for furniture from Dammam to Morocco?
No. A truck heading from the Gulf to Morocco crosses several countries and then stops at a closed land border between Algeria and Morocco. What gets called “land transport” to Morocco is in reality a truck to the port and then a ship. Always ask for the name of the port of loading and the container number.
Air freight from Dammam to Morocco

The aircraft is for small pieces and urgent luggage, not for the bedroom. The shipment leaves King Fahd International Airport for Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, mostly through a transit airport, and is then delivered in Moroccan cities within 4 to 7 days of collection. Anyone moving a home by sea sends by air what he needs before the container arrives.
| Item | In air freight from Dammam |
|---|---|
| Airport of departure | King Fahd International, serving Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail and Al-Ahsa |
| Airport of arrival | Mohammed V in Casablanca, then distribution by road |
| Time to the door | 4–7 days, depending on the connecting flight |
| Price starts from | SAR 28 a kilogram above 100 kg, SAR 320 for a parcel of up to 5 kg, and SAR 83 for documents |
| What suits it | Suitcases of clothes, school books, a computer, a dismantled cot, and basic kitchen utensils |
| What does not suit it | Wardrobes, sofas and large appliances, whose air freight exceeds their worth |
Air freight is charged on the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. A light carton of pillows is billed on its size, not on what the scale shows, and the sum is in the volumetric weight calculator. Loose batteries, perfumes and aerosols are restricted on aircraft. Service details are on the air freight page.
Collection from the districts of Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran and Jubail
We come to the home in any district of Greater Dammam, and add nearby cities by prior appointment. Tell us three things when you book: the floor, whether there is a lift, and whether the home is inside a compound that requires a permit.
| Area | Districts and cities | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Dammam | Ash-Shati, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Mazruiyah, Uhud, An-Nur, Al-Hamra, Al-Manar, Taybah, Ar-Rayyan | The truck enters most streets, and we choose the early morning in summer |
| Khobar | Al-Aqrabiyah, Ath-Thuqbah, the Golden Belt, Ar-Rakah, Al-Aziziyah | Many apartment blocks, so we ask about the lift and where the truck can park |
| Dhahran | Ad-Dawhah, Ad-Danah, and the residential compounds | An entry permit requested before the working day |
| Qatif, Saihat and Safwa | The districts of the towns and neighbouring villages | Within the same round as Dammam |
| Jubail and Ras Tanura | Jubail town and Jubail Industrial City, Rahimah | About 100 km to Jubail, by prior appointment |
| Al-Ahsa and Abqaiq | Hofuf, Mubarraz and Abqaiq | About 150 km to Hofuf, with a haulage item set on request |
All the cities we serve in the Kingdom are on the cities page.
Temporary storage between handing back the flat and the sailing date
The tenancy ends on one day and the ship sails on another, and the house in Morocco may not be ready when the container arrives. We keep the furniture packed and numbered in a closed warehouse until its time comes, and the inventory remains the reference when it is taken out. Service details are on the storage page.
Steps for moving furniture from Dammam to Morocco
- Get in touch: message 0552803439 with room photos or a written list of what is going, and tell us which district you live in and which Moroccan city the furniture is bound for.
- Status and papers: we ask whether the return is final, and go over the certificate of change of residence and its timing with you.
- Survey and price: we fix the volume and the container size, and write down the items, the proposed port of loading and the transit time.
- The date: we tie packing day to the sailing date and to the day you hand back the flat.
- The day at home: dismantling, packing, numbering and inventory, then loading the container and sealing it in front of you.
- The port: the container moves to the port, the export declaration is completed, and it is handed to the shipping line.
- The sea and follow-up: you receive the bill of lading number, then a message at every stage.
- Morocco: clearance, then delivery, unloading and reassembly, and the consignee’s signature on the inventory.
Tracking and insuring the furniture
Furniture from Dammam covers a road leg and then two seas, so it has more stages than a shipment leaving a port city. We send you an update at every move, and you can follow the ship yourself with the container number, as shown on the track your shipment page.
Insurance is optional, and we recommend it for every whole home. The sea carrier’s liability is limited and measured by weight, so it does not cover the value of a lounge suite or a bookcase. The policy is written on the values declared in the inventory, which is why we ask you to enter the values with care. The explanation is on the cargo insurance page.
Moving furniture from Morocco to Dammam
The opposite direction is ordered by a Moroccan who has signed with an employer in the Eastern Province, or by a family wanting a Moroccan salon, rugs and carved woodwork for its home in Khobar. Our agent packs the pieces in their city and loads them into a container from Casablanca or Tanger Med. Once it reaches the Saudi port we clear it, then unload and reassemble at the address.
Tips before packing day
- Start with the consular certificate before booking the ship, since its date governs all the other dates.
- Unplug the fridge and the freezer a full day before loading and dry them with the door open.
- Set aside a room or a cupboard for what will travel with you, and lock it so that nothing in it is packed by mistake.
- Request the residential compound’s permit at least three days ahead.
- Photograph the electricity meter and the flat once emptied; you may need this with the landlord while you are in Morocco.
- In summer, book a month ahead, as demand for returnees’ containers rises.
- Do not buy new appliances to take with you before you know what duty they attract there.
How do you choose a furniture moving company from Dammam to Morocco?
A move within the city needs only workers and a truck. A move to Morocco needs someone who knows ports, customs and returnees’ paperwork. These signs tell the two apart.
| Item | A reassuring sign | A sign for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Port of loading | Names the port and explains why it was chosen | Says “land freight to Morocco” |
| Returnee’s papers | Asks about the certificate of change of residence before the price | Promises an exemption without papers |
| Inventory | Numbered, detailed and signed by both of you | A sheet that says only “household furniture” |
| Price | Separate items: the home, haulage to the port, the sea, Morocco | A single figure with no stated end point |
| Delivery | A named agent in Morocco for clearance and reassembly | The service ends at the port quay without telling you |
| Legal standing | A commercial registration and a bill of lading in your name | No document proving what was taken from you |
Common mistakes in moving furniture to Morocco
- Leaving on a final exit visa before obtaining the certificate of change of residence.
- Loading two fridges or many air conditioners as exempt furniture.
- Shipping appliances that run on 60 hertz only without reading their plate.
- Leaving a gas cylinder or tins of paint among the store-room items.
- Packing carpets or soft furnishings while still damp from washing.
- Choosing the port of arrival by price, not by the consignee’s city.
- Handing back the flat before knowing the sailing date, with no storage arranged.

Frequently asked questions about furniture moving from Dammam to Morocco
How much does furniture moving from Dammam to Morocco cost?
The sum starts with volume. A few pieces and cartons in a shared container start from SAR 2,300, a cubic metre from SAR 780, and the smallest sea shipment is SAR 1,000. A whole home in a 20ft container starts from SAR 7,800 and in a 40ft container from SAR 14,720, both counted from the port quay. Hauling the container from Dammam to the port is added to them, as an item set on request.
How many days is the furniture on the way?
Between 23 and 35 days from the door in Dammam to the door in Morocco when the container is trucked to Jeddah port and sails from there. If it is loaded at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, expect roughly one more week. A shared container needs 32 to 42 days. Small pieces sent by air arrive in 4 to 7 days.
Which port does my container leave from: Dammam or Jeddah?
For household furniture the usual course is to seal the container at your home and haul it about 1,350 km to Jeddah Islamic Port, because a ship from there is closer to the Suez Canal. Loading at Dammam port is possible when a suitable service is available, and its voyage is longer. We show you both options with their transit times before you book.
Do you dismantle the furniture and reassemble it in Morocco?
Yes. Dismantling, packing and numbering in your home in Dammam are part of the service, and unloading and reassembly in the consignee’s home in Morocco are handled by our agent’s crew there when you order the service to the door. We photograph assembled pieces before taking them apart so they go back together as they were.
I am Moroccan and have finished working in the Eastern Province. Is my furniture exempt from duty?
The rule in force is that used furniture and effects of someone transferring residence to Morocco for good enter duty-free, provided he presents the certificate of change of residence and a detailed, dated and signed inventory, and the import takes place within the set period from the date of the certificate. We go over the current conditions with you before the first piece is wrapped.
Where do I get the certificate of change of residence while living in Dammam?
From the Moroccan consular services in the Kingdom, meaning the embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate General in Jeddah. Ask which of them covers your address in the Eastern Province and how long the certificate stays valid, and obtain it before you leave, not afterwards.
Can I move just one bedroom?
Yes, in a shared container. It is charged on its volume after dismantling and packing, with a cubic metre from SAR 780 and part-load furniture from SAR 2,300. Your pieces are consolidated with other shipments bound for Morocco, which is why the transit is a little longer than with a private container.
Do you move the car with the furniture?
Yes. A 40ft container starting from SAR 14,720 takes the car together with the furniture of a medium-sized flat, with a timber bulkhead built between them. Or the car travels alone by RoRo from SAR 2,200 for a saloon. Before booking we check the date of first registration, since Morocco restricts the import of cars more than five years old.
Will my electrical appliances work in Morocco?
Mains power in Morocco is 220 volts at 50 hertz, with round two-pin sockets. Most modern appliances accept both frequencies, but some motors, clocks and microwave ovens are affected by the difference. Read the rating plate on the back of each appliance; anything marked 60 hertz only is better sold in Dammam than shipped.
Do you collect from Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail and Al-Ahsa?
Yes. Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Saihat fall within the same round as Dammam. Jubail, Ras Tanura, Abqaiq and Al-Ahsa are served by prior appointment, and the charge for the run to them is an item set on request.
Is there a land route for furniture from Dammam to Morocco?
No. The overland road stops at a closed border between Algeria and Morocco, so no truck gets there. The only road legs of the journey are hauling the container from your home to the Saudi port, and then from the Moroccan port to the consignee’s home.
What must not go into the furniture container?
Gas cylinders, paints, aerosols and fuel, perishable food, plants, and weapons. Gold, cash, passports and original certificates stay with you. New appliances in their boxes do not count as used furniture and pay duty.
How do I know where the container has got to?
With the container number or the bill of lading number on the shipping line’s website. We also write to you on WhatsApp when the container is sealed in Dammam, when it enters the port, when the ship sails, when it berths in Morocco, and when the release is issued.
Do I need insurance on the furniture?
Insurance is optional, and we consider it necessary for a whole home that travels a long road leg and then two seas. The sea carrier’s compensation is calculated by weight and within narrow limits, whereas the insurance policy is written on the value declared in the inventory.
Do you move furniture from Morocco to Dammam?
Yes. Our agent collects the pieces in the Moroccan city and packs them, the container sails to a Saudi port, and then we clear it, unload it and reassemble it in your home in Dammam, Khobar or Jubail.
