What does furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam include?
The service is one chain that starts inside your home and ends inside your other home. The crew arrives at the agreed time, dismantles what needs dismantling, wraps and numbers every piece, then loads the truck and straps the load down. After the drive the furniture is unloaded in Dammam, carried to its rooms and reassembled, and the packing waste is removed before the crew leaves.
Home Safe is an establishment based in Jeddah, so a move between Riyadh and Dammam is arranged by advance booking: the crew and truck are scheduled for your date, and what has been agreed is written in the booking confirmation. You may take the whole chain or part of it: transport without dismantling if you have taken your furniture apart yourself, dismantling and assembly for a single room, or cartons added to a shared load.
What delivery inside the home means is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Who moves from Riyadh to Dammam, and when is a moving company needed?
There is constant movement between the capital and the Eastern Province. The east is the centre of the oil and petrochemical industries and of the ports, while Riyadh is home to the ministries and company head offices, so employees move between them on an appointment, a promotion or a new project. Each group needs something different from the move:
| Who is moving | What they usually move | What suits them |
|---|---|---|
| An employee transferred to the Eastern Province | The furniture of a flat or a villa with its appliances | A dedicated truck with dismantling and assembly |
| An engineer or technician on a temporary project | A bedroom, basic appliances and cartons | A shared load |
| A university student | A desk, a bed, books and suitcases | Shared, by the piece and the carton |
| A family furnishing a son’s or daughter’s home | A new room or appliances from Riyadh showrooms | Shared, with assembly on arrival |
| A company opening a branch | Desks, filing cabinets and equipment | A dedicated truck over the weekend |
| The owner of a second car | A car they do not want to drive 400 km | A car carrier |
You need a moving company rather than a hired vehicle when the home contains things that must be dismantled, things that break, or things two people cannot carry. A four-door wardrobe, a glass-topped table and a double-door fridge suffer more in an open box and untrained hands than they do from the road itself.
Dismantling and packing the bedrooms at your home in Riyadh

The bedroom takes the most time on loading day, because its large pieces will not go through the door or into the lift standing up. The carpenter begins with the wardrobe: the doors are lifted off their hinges, then the shelves and drawers come out, then the sides are separated from the back. The bed follows: mattress, then slats, then headboard and base.
The working rule is that every piece’s screws travel with it. Screws, hinges and dowels are collected in a clear bag, the name of the piece is written on it, and it is taped to the inside of one of its panels. That way assembly in Dammam never stops over a missing screw, and no screw is forced into the wrong hole and widens it.
| Piece | How it is dismantled | How it is packed |
|---|---|---|
| Wardrobe | Doors, then shelves, then sides, with the panels numbered | Moving blankets between panels and cardboard corners |
| Mirrored wardrobe doors | Lifted off whole; the mirror is not separated from the door | Corrugated cardboard on both faces, loaded upright |
| Bed | Slats, base and headboard each on its own | Stretch wrap over padded cloth on an upholstered headboard |
| Mattress | Not dismantled and not folded | A mattress bag sealed at the edges |
| Dressing table | Mirror detached and drawers emptied | Bubble wrap for the mirror and cardboard for the top |
| Bedside table | Travels in one piece | Drawers taped shut, then fully wrapped |
The doors of the home itself are protected before the first piece leaves: padding on the frame of the room door and the flat door, so neither paint nor panel is scratched. How each kind of furniture is packed is detailed in the article on packing furniture for a move.
Packing the rest of the home, and the equipment used
After the bedrooms come the sitting room, the kitchen and the glass. Sofas are covered with padded cloth and then with stretch wrap that keeps dust out, and their wooden legs are protected. Kitchenware is wrapped piece by piece and stood upright in double-wall cartons, with the room and contents written on the carton. Carpets are rolled and tied, never folded.
| Material or tool | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Double-wall cartons | Kitchenware, books, clothes and small appliances |
| Bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard | Glass, mirrors, screens and ornaments |
| Moving blankets and stretch wrap | Wood, sofas and upholstered pieces |
| Wooden crate | A chandelier, marble or a valuable painting |
| Hand truck and lifting straps | The fridge, the washing machine and a steel safe |
| Electric screwdrivers and carpentry tools | Dismantling and assembling wardrobes, beds and kitchens |
| Lashing straps and load bars | Securing the load inside the truck box |
| Exterior hoist | A piece too big for the stairs or the lift; ordered in advance |
Equipment is chosen by the home, not by habit. A fourth-floor flat with no lift needs more men and lifting straps. A villa with a narrow internal staircase may need a hoist to take the wardrobe out through the balcony. That is why we ask about the floor, the lift and the width of the stairs before setting the price; securing methods are explained on the packing and lashing page.
Dedicated truck or shared load between Riyadh and Dammam?
This is the first decision, and it sets both the price and the date. A dedicated truck is booked for your furniture alone; it leaves when loading ends and stops at your door in Dammam with no stage in between. A shared one combines your pieces with other people’s pieces heading east, so you split the cost of the road.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared load |
|---|---|---|
| Suits | A whole flat, a villa or an office | A few pieces, one room or cartons |
| Departure | On loading day itself | When the truck is full |
| Arrival | Same day or the next | 1–3 days |
| Number of handlings | One loading and one unloading | Pieces may be moved between two vehicles |
| Basis of the price | The hire of the whole vehicle | The space your pieces occupy |
The size of the vehicle follows the size of the home: a closed pickup or van for a few pieces or appliances and cartons, a closed Dyna for a flat of two to three rooms, a closed lorry for a large flat or a whole floor, and a box trailer for a complete villa or the furniture of a large office.
If your furniture fills more than half a Dyna box, the dedicated truck usually works out better, because the price gap narrows and handling is reduced. Trucking in general is explained on the land freight page.
The Riyadh–Dammam motorway among the Dahna dunes

The road between the two cities is part of Highway 40, which crosses the Kingdom from Jeddah to Dammam. Its Riyadh–Dammam section is a dual motorway with three lanes in each direction and a wide central reservation, between 375 and 383 km long depending on the two measuring points. With the distance inside both cities, the trip from home to home comes to about 400 km.
After leaving eastern Riyadh the road crosses the Dahna, a belt of red sand dunes that runs from the north of the Kingdom to its south. On this stretch the wind sometimes blows sand and dust across the carriageway, and visibility drops in storms. The road then levels out over an open plain as far as the Abqaiq junction, and from there to the entrances of Dammam, Dhahran and Khobar.
| What the road holds | What it means for your furniture | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Dust and sand of the Dahna | It gets into an open box and settles in fabric | A closed box, and full bags for mattresses and sofas |
| Steady speed for hours | Continuous vibration loosens whatever is not strapped | Stacking without gaps, and straps rechecked at each stop |
| Summer heat | It affects lacquered wood and appliances | Departure at dawn or after mid-afternoon where possible |
| Widely spaced service stations | No chance to fix a bad load halfway | Lashing and tyres checked before leaving Riyadh |
| Regulated truck entry in both cities | It may delay leaving or entering | The loading hour is chosen around the hours in force |
A tight load starts with the order of the pieces: heavy and flat items on the floor and at the front of the box, panels and mirrors upright along its sides, cartons filling the gaps, and light upholstered pieces on top. Once the box is full with no voids, a piece has nowhere to move to.
How long does furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam take?
The driving time is nearly fixed; what varies is what comes before and after it. Dismantling and packing a three-room flat takes half a day, loading two hours, and unloading and assembly another half day. So a small home moves in one long day and a large one in two: a day for Riyadh and a day for Dammam.
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Survey | Photos of the rooms or a visit, then price and date | The day you call |
| 2. Dismantling and packing | A carpenter and packers at your home in Riyadh | 3–8 hours depending on the size of the home |
| 3. Loading | Stacking, strapping and a signed inventory | 1 to 3 hours |
| 4. The road | Driving, with the driver’s stops | 5–6 hours |
| 5. Unloading | Carrying the pieces to their rooms | 1 to 3 hours |
| 6. Assembly | Wardrobes, beds and appliances, and removal of waste | 3–6 hours |
What lengthens the time?
- Waiting for a shared load to fill: it adds a day or two, and does not apply to a dedicated truck.
- Regulated truck hours: the traffic department regulates truck entry into Riyadh, Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran at set times, which change in Ramadan, so we confirm the hours in force before loading day.
- A home that is not ready: full wardrobes and drawers that have not been emptied double the packing time.
- Keys and permits: the Dammam home has not been handed over yet, or a residential compound requires an entry permit for the truck.
- Weather: a sandstorm on the Dahna stretch slows traffic or stops it for hours.
Times for other lines are on the transit times page.
Furniture moving prices from Riyadh to Dammam
The price is built on the volume of the furniture after dismantling, on whether the truck is yours alone, and on the dismantling, packing and assembly you ask for at both ends. The distance is fixed on this line, so it only matters when delivery is beyond Dammam. These are our starting prices:
| Item | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A few pieces or one room in a shared load | SAR 460 | Without dismantling, door to door |
| A complete room with dismantling, packing and assembly | SAR 645 | In a shared load |
| Furniture of a small flat | SAR 920 | According to the number of pieces and the floor |
| Dedicated closed Dyna | SAR 1,380 | Hire of the vehicle from address to address |
| Villa or full trailer | Set on request | After reviewing the list or photos |
| Carton up to 20 kg | SAR 87 | In a shared load |
| Parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 32 | Door to door |
| Dismantling and assembling a bedroom | SAR 275 | A carpenter’s service added to the move |
| Dismantling a kitchen | SAR 640 | According to the number of cabinets and the worktop |
| Exterior hoist, and removing and installing air conditioners | Set on request | According to the floor and the number of units |
Prices quoted in the market: what is published for this line varies widely. For a basic move, figures starting at SAR 500 and reaching SAR 1,500 are quoted; for a single room SAR 700 to 1,800; for a Dyna SAR 1,500 to 2,600; for a home’s furniture SAR 1,000 to 3,700; and for an extended service up to SAR 9,500. Some lists price by distance and place the line in a band of SAR 1,750 to 2,000. Most do not say what the figure covers, which is why we write in the price what it includes and what it does not.
| Factor | How it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Volume after dismantling | It decides the vehicle, or the space booked in a shared load |
| Dedicated or shared | Dedicated costs the whole vehicle even if space is left over |
| Floor and lift | Upper floors without a lift add men and time |
| Dismantling and assembly | Charged by the number and type of pieces |
| Packing | Full with our materials, or partial for delicate pieces only |
| Delivery beyond Dammam | Jubail and Ras Tanura add distance and time |
| Season and day of the week | Month-end and holidays see higher demand |
How do you cut the cost?
- Choose a shared load if your furniture is less than half a Dyna and your date can stretch by two days.
- Get rid of what you do not need before the survey; every piece left behind reduces the volume.
- Fill the cartons of clothes and books yourself and leave the glass and wood to us.
- Book mid-week and mid-month.
- Arrange a parking space for the truck near the entrance in both districts, since the distance from truck to door is paid time.
- Estimate the volume with the CBM calculator, and read the pricing factors.
Collection from Riyadh’s districts
Riyadh is vast, and the trip from a district in its west to its eastern exit can take an hour in traffic. So the location of the home enters the choice of starting hour: eastern districts are closest to the Dammam road, while in the north and west we begin earlier. We collect from every district of the capital and its surroundings:
| Area | Some of its districts | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| North Riyadh | Al Malqa, Al Yasmin, Al Narjis, Hittin, Al Sahafa | Villas and modern compounds, with more room to park the truck |
| East Riyadh | Al Rawdah, Al Yarmuk, Qurtubah, Al Naseem, Al Rawabi | Closest to the exit for the Dammam road |
| Central Riyadh | Al Olaya, Al Malaz, Al Sulaymaniyah, Al Murabba | Towers and flats; the service lift is booked in advance |
| West and south Riyadh | Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Badr | Narrower inner streets in some places, so a smaller vehicle does the collection |
| Around Riyadh | Diriyah, Al Kharj, Al Muzahimiyah | By prior arrangement, with the extra distance charged |
For a move within the capital itself rather than out of it, details and prices are in the article on furniture moving in Riyadh.
Delivering and arranging the furniture in Dammam’s districts

On arrival the crew starts with the home before the furniture. Floor protectors are laid from the entrance to the rooms and the door frames are padded; then the pieces are unloaded in the order of the rooms, not the order of the truck. Every carton goes to the room written on it, so nothing piles up in the hall.
Assembly comes next: wardrobes and beds first, because they fix the place of everything around them, then the dining table and bookcase, then the appliances. The inventory is checked with you piece by piece before signing. Dammam is a planned city with wide streets in most of its districts, so getting the truck to the door is easier than in older cities.
| District or area | Prevailing type of housing | What we allow for at delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Al Rayyan | Villas and residential floors | Internal stairs to upper floors, so large pieces stay dismantled |
| Al Jalawiyah | Apartment blocks near the city centre | Truck parking and traffic hours on commercial streets |
| Uhud | Villas and blocks in east Dammam | Agreeing with neighbours on parking in front of the entrance |
| Taybah | Newer residential plans in the west | New homes: protecting floors and fresh paint |
| Al Faisaliyah, Al Noor and Al Manar | Villas and duplexes | Wide entrances that suit a lorry |
| Ash Shati East and West, and Al Hamra | Villas and flats near the seafront | Higher humidity, so wrapping comes off on arrival day |
| Al Aziziyah, Al Nakheel, Al Firdaws and Badr | Mixed residential districts | Confirming the national address and building number before setting off |
For anyone who lives in Dammam and is moving between its districts, the in-city service is explained in the article on the furniture moving company in Dammam.
Delivery in Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail
Many people who say Dammam mean its whole metropolitan area. Khobar and Dhahran adjoin it, and the truck from Riyadh reaches any of them from the same road with no real difference in time. Gated residential compounds in Dhahran and Khobar usually ask for the driver’s and vehicle’s details before the day of entry, so we take them from you and send them ahead.
North of Dammam come Qatif, Saihat and Safwa, then Ras Tanura, then Jubail about 100 km away. All of these are served by prior arrangement, and a dedicated truck continues to them directly. A shared load is sorted in Dammam and the pieces then go out on a delivery vehicle, which usually adds a day.
Moving appliances: air conditioners, fridge, washing machine and screens
Appliances are harmed by wrong preparation more than by the road. A fridge loaded with water in it, or a washing machine that travels with its drum unsecured, arrives looking sound and then fails a few days later. Each appliance has a step that comes before packing:
| Appliance | Preparation before loading | In Dammam |
|---|---|---|
| Split air conditioner | Gas pumped down into the outdoor unit and pipe openings sealed | Installation, pressure check and start-up |
| Window air conditioner | Condensate drained and the front panel wrapped | Fixed in the opening and sealed at the edges |
| Fridge and freezer | Unplugged a day ahead, defrosted and dried, shelves secured | Left standing for some hours before switching on |
| Washing machine | Water drained and the drum transit bolts fitted | Bolts removed and the feet levelled |
| Screen | Its original box, or a screen carton with foam corners | Mounted on its bracket if requested |
| Oven and gas hob | Connections removed, doors and racks secured | Gas connection is done by a specialised technician |
A gas cylinder is not loaded with furniture in a closed box, whether full or empty. It stays in Riyadh, or you carry it yourself as the regulations allow.
Car transport from Riyadh to Dammam on a carrier
A family that relocates usually owns more than one car and cannot drive them all in one trip. So the second car goes on a car carrier, secured by its wheels, and arrives within 1 to 3 days depending on when the carrier fills. The car is photographed at collection and a report records its condition and odometer.
| Type of car and carrier | Price starts from |
|---|---|
| Saloon on a shared open carrier | SAR 550 |
| 4×4 or large family car on an open carrier | SAR 690 |
| Luxury or classic car in an enclosed carrier | SAR 920 |
| Private flatbed for one car | Set on request |
What is needed: the car’s registration card and the owner’s ID or an authorisation from them, a quarter of a tank of fuel, and a car emptied of personal belongings. The car service is detailed on the car shipping page.
Valuables, and what does not go into the truck
Valuables are of two kinds. One kind is moved with extra care: a painting, a crystal chandelier, an old wall clock, a hand-woven carpet, a china set. These are packed individually, the fragile ones get a wooden crate, and they are described on the inventory. The other kind is never handed to any carrier: gold, cash and original documents, whose place is your hand luggage.
| Item | Ruling | Reason or alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Gold, jewellery and cash | Not loaded | Stays with its owner |
| Passports, title deeds and original certificates | Not loaded | In hand luggage, or a copy by air if needed |
| Gas cylinders, fuel, paints and solvents | Not loaded | Flammable materials in a closed box |
| Frozen and chilled food | Not loaded | It spoils during the hours of road and loading |
| House plants | With caution | They suffer from heat and darkness; better carried in your car |
| Weapons, ammunition and legally banned substances | Refused | Not accepted in any shipment |
We ask about the contents of every carton sealed before we arrive. The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Dammam’s humidity and what it means for furniture coming from Riyadh
Riyadh is dry and Dammam is a coastal city on the Arabian Gulf whose humidity rises sharply in the summer months. That difference shows on furniture in its first days. Natural wood swells slightly, so a door that used to close easily may rub against its frame and a drawer may feel stiff. This settles after a few weeks of air conditioning and usually needs no carpenter.
What does need attention is the wrapping. Tight stretch wrap traps moisture if it stays on a piece for days in a home without air conditioning, and a smell or stains appear on fabric and wood. That is why we remove the wrapping on delivery day and advise running the air conditioners in the new home for some hours before the truck arrives. Mattress and carpet bags are opened at once and never stored sealed.
- Run the air conditioning in the Dammam home before delivery if the electricity is connected.
- Leave a gap between the wardrobe and the outside wall during the first weeks.
- Do not retighten the screws of wooden doors before the wood has settled.
- Dry the fridge and washing machine thoroughly before the move, since trapped water turns musty faster in humid air.
Storage when the two dates do not match
It often happens that the Riyadh tenancy ends a week or a month before the Dammam home is ready. The answer is to pack the furniture for storage rather than for the road, then keep it in a closed warehouse until the delivery date. Storage on this line is arranged on request and its price is set on request, according to the volume, the period and the city where it is kept.
Storage packing differs in two ways: wood and fabric are covered with a breathable material rather than tight wrap, and mattresses are kept flat or standing on their long side. A detailed inventory is written, which you sign and against which you take delivery. The types of storage and when each is needed are on the storage page.
Moving offices and shops between the two cities
A company opening a branch in the Eastern Province, or moving a department from there to Riyadh, wants work to stop for as short a time as possible. So the office is dismantled after Thursday’s working hours, loaded overnight and assembled in Dammam on Friday or Saturday, and staff begin their week at the new premises.
Office furniture has its own order: files travel in cartons numbered by department and cabinet, and sealed if requested. Computers and servers are wrapped in anti-static materials. Large meeting tables are separated into tops and bases. Shop signs, shelving and display fridges are treated as appliances. The price of an office move is set on request after a visit or a floor plan.
The opposite direction: furniture moving from Dammam to Riyadh
The line works both ways with roughly the same traffic. Anyone whose project in the east has ended, who has been transferred to head office, or who is returning to family in the capital takes the same service in reverse: dismantling and packing in Dammam, Khobar or Dhahran, the road west across the Dahna, and unloading and assembly in their Riyadh district. Prices start from the same figures.
Two things are allowed for in Riyadh. The first is the size of the city: the truck enters from the east, and reaching Al Malqa or Dhahrat Laban adds an hour or more. The second is the regulation of heavy-truck entry, so we time the departure from Dammam to arrive at a permitted hour. Anyone moving on from Riyadh to another city will find its lines in the article on the furniture moving company in Saudi Arabia.
Domestic air freight from Riyadh to Dammam for urgent luggage

Furniture is not flown on a line that a truck covers in hours. But every relocation includes things that cannot wait for the truck: the papers for starting the new job, suitcases of clothes for the first days, a computer, medicine, and a carton of school books for children who start classes before the home arrives. These fly between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
The flying time between the two airports is about an hour, and there are several flights on the route with more than one carrier, subject to the schedules in force on the shipping day. We collect the carton from your home in Riyadh, and it is delivered to the door of your new home in 1 to 2 days. King Fahd Airport lies north-west of Dammam, about 30 km from its centre, so distribution time from there to the district is allowed for.
| What goes by air | Why | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Documents and contracts | Needed on the first working day | Set on request |
| Suitcases and personal luggage | Clothes for the first week before the truck arrives | Set on request by chargeable weight |
| Light urgent cartons | School books, small devices, baby supplies | Set on request by chargeable weight |
| What is not accepted by air | Loose batteries, perfume in quantity, aerosols, flammable liquids | Moved by road under their conditions, or not moved |
Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, so a large light carton is charged by its volume. The calculation method and packing conditions are on the air freight page.
After Dammam: moving on to the Gulf or abroad
Dammam is the Kingdom’s eastern gateway. From it the King Fahd Causeway leads to Bahrain, the road runs north to Kuwait and south to Qatar and the UAE, and it has King Abdulaziz Port on the Arabian Gulf. So for anyone for whom Dammam is a stage on the way abroad rather than the end of the journey, we arrange both legs in one booking without the furniture being dismantled and packed twice.
By land to the Gulf states in closed trucks, by sea in a container to distant destinations, and by air for urgent and light items. Air freight from the Kingdom starts from SAR 14 per kilogram to the Gulf states, SAR 23 to Europe and SAR 26 to the UK. Details are in the article on the international shipping company in Dammam, the article on the international shipping company in Riyadh, and the guide to international furniture shipping companies in Saudi Arabia.
Booking steps from the first call to the last piece
Booking needs no visit in most cases. Clear photos of each room are enough to estimate the volume, the vehicle and the number of men. The steps in order:
- Send the photos and both addresses: photos of the rooms, the two districts, and the floor and lift at both ends, to 0552803439.
- Receive the price: itemised: transport, dismantling and assembly, packing, and any extra service.
- Fix the appointment: the loading day and hour; you receive the booking confirmation with its terms.
- Prepare the home: empty the fridge, disconnect the washing machine, and gather what you will carry with you.
- Loading day: dismantling, packing and numbering, then an inventory you sign before the box is closed.
- On the road: we notify you on leaving Riyadh and on entering Dammam.
- Delivery: floor protection, unloading, assembly and removal of the packing waste.
- Checking: the inventory is reviewed piece by piece and any remark is recorded before signing.
Follow-up on the road, liability and insurance
The trip is short, so follow-up is simple: you have the driver’s number, a message at departure, and a message an hour before arrival so that you or your representative are at the home. In a shared load your furniture receives a number with which you ask where it is on the tracking page or by WhatsApp message.
The crew is responsible for what it has packed and loaded with its own hands, under the terms written in the booking confirmation. Three things establish that responsibility: the inventory signed at loading, the photos of the pieces before wrapping, and your written remark at delivery. For a carton you sealed yourself we answer for its outside, not for how its contents were arranged.
Cargo insurance is optional and requested at booking. It is useful when the home contains things of high value: imported furniture, new appliances, ornaments. Each valuable item is written in it with its value. The types of cover and their exclusions are on the cargo insurance page.
How do you choose a furniture mover from Riyadh to Dammam?
Offers on this line are many, and most sound alike and differ in execution. The difference does not show in the advert but in the questions you are asked before the price and in the paper you receive after it. These signs mark a serious offer:
| Sign | A serious offer | An offer to be wary of |
|---|---|---|
| Before the price | Asks for photos and about the floor and the lift | Gives a figure in the first sentence |

Compare offers on one basis: the same volume, the same services and the same type of truck. A lower price that covers neither assembly nor packing is not lower. A comparison across the Kingdom’s cities and lines is in the article on the domestic shipping company in Saudi Arabia.
Common mistakes on the Riyadh–Dammam move
- Underestimating the distance: seeing it as only four hours, people load an open pickup and the furniture arrives dusty and scratched.
- Leaving wardrobes full: a wardrobe loaded with clothes breaks at the base when lifted and its joints come apart.
- Mixing the screws: one bag for all the screws turns assembly into guesswork.
- Booking at the last minute at month-end: the days of highest demand, when any available vehicle is accepted rather than the right one.
- Forgetting the arrival home: no keys, no electricity or a lift that was not booked, so the truck waits and its hire is charged.
- Keeping the wrapping on for days in Dammam: tight wrap traps humidity on wood and fabric.
- Signing before checking: a remark that is not written at delivery is hard to prove afterwards.
Tips before loading day
A week of preparation saves hours on moving day. Start with what you do not use every day, and leave the kitchen and the bedroom until last. These are the main things we advise anyone moving to the Eastern Province:
- Photograph the screen and internet connections before undoing them, so you can restore them as they were.
- Write on every carton its room in the Dammam home, not in the Riyadh home.
- Prepare a first-day bag: clothes, chargers, medicines, papers and coffee things.
- Take children and pets to a quiet place on loading day.
- Tell the building or compound management in both cities when the truck is coming.
- Read the packing guide if you want to prepare your own cartons.

Frequently asked questions about furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam
How far is Riyadh from Dammam and how long does a furniture move take?
The motorway distance is about 400 km, which a car covers in about four hours and a loaded truck in five to six hours with the driver’s stops. If a dedicated truck is booked for you and loading starts in the morning, your furniture arrives the same evening or the next morning. A shared load needs 1 to 3 days because it waits for the truck to fill.
How much does furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam cost?
A few pieces or one room in a shared load start from SAR 460, a complete room with dismantling, packing and assembly from SAR 645, a small flat from SAR 920, and a dedicated Dyna truck from SAR 1,380. A villa or a full trailer is set on request once the list is known. Send photos of the rooms to 0552803439 and you will receive the price item by item.
What is the cheapest way to move furniture from Riyadh to Dammam?
A shared load, as long as your furniture does not fill a Dyna box. You pay only for the space your pieces occupy, and the Riyadh–Dammam line is one of the busiest in the Kingdom, so the wait for the truck to fill is short. The price drops further when large pieces are dismantled before measuring, when you fill the cartons yourself, and when you let us pick a mid-week loading day.
Does the move include dismantling and assembly?
Yes, when it is requested in the booking. The carpenter dismantles wardrobes, beds and dining tables at your home in Riyadh, puts each piece’s screws in a bag tied to it, then reassembles everything in its room in Dammam. Dismantling and assembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275 and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640. Anyone who dismantles their own furniture is charged for transport only.
Do you move a single item or cartons only?
Yes. A fridge, a sofa or a single bedroom, or ten cartons for a student or an employee, are all accepted in the shared load. A carton up to 20 kg starts from SAR 87, a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 32, and a large item is priced by its volume after packing. We collect from your door in Riyadh and deliver to the consignee’s door in Dammam.
Do you move valuable items?
Antiques, paintings, chandeliers, wall clocks and fine carpets are moved, with special packing and a wooden crate where needed, and they are entered on the inventory with their description and condition. Gold, jewellery, cash, passports and title deeds do not go into the truck; they stay with you in your car. A high-value piece is declared by name and value in the optional insurance.
Does the crew arrive at the agreed time?
The appointment is fixed in the booking confirmation by day and hour, and the crew and truck are scheduled for it in advance. We call you the evening before to confirm the arrival time. What may delay the start is mostly outside our hands: the regulated hours for trucks entering Riyadh, or morning congestion on the ring road. That is why we suggest an early loading hour and tell you of any change as soon as it happens.
Do you also move from Dammam to Riyadh?
Yes, the service runs both ways in the same order: dismantling and packing at your home in Dammam, Khobar or Dhahran, then a closed truck to your district in Riyadh, then unloading and assembly. Prices start from the same figures. The practical difference in Riyadh is that the city is larger, so more time is allowed to get from its eastern entrance to the northern or western districts.
How much does it cost to move a car from Riyadh to Dammam?
A saloon on a shared open carrier starts from SAR 550, a 4×4 from SAR 690, and a luxury car in an enclosed carrier from SAR 920. It arrives within 1 to 3 days depending on when the carrier fills. For anyone moving home and car together we coordinate both appointments on one day, so the owner can fly or travel with the family in the second car.
Do you deliver in Khobar and Dhahran?
Yes. Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran form one continuous urban area, and the truck coming from Riyadh enters any of them from the same road. We also deliver in Qatif, Saihat, Ras Tanura and Jubail by prior arrangement. State the city and district when booking, because the extra distance beyond Dammam enters the price and the time.
How is the furniture protected from dust and heat on the road?
In three ways. The box is closed on every side, so neither the dust nor the sand of the Dahna gets in. Upholstered pieces and mattresses are covered with full bags taped at the edges. And the load is stacked without gaps and strapped down so that pieces do not rub against each other when the truck vibrates. In summer we prefer to set off at dawn or after mid-afternoon, which cuts the hours of high heat on wood and appliances.
Do you remove and reinstall air conditioners?
Yes, with a refrigeration technician rather than a loader. A split unit has its gas pumped down into the outdoor unit before removal, the pipe openings are sealed, and both units travel upright. In Dammam it is installed, the gas pressure is checked and it is switched on in front of you. The service is requested at booking and its price is set on request according to the number of units and the pipe length in the new home.
How many days ahead should I book?
A week ahead on ordinary days, and two to three weeks ahead at the end of the month, the start of the school year and the summer holiday, when many employees and families move between the two cities. Early booking lets you choose the hour and gives us time to review the photos and size the right truck. An urgent request is served if a crew and truck are free on the day.
When should I choose air freight between Riyadh and Dammam?
When you need something before the truck arrives, or something that cannot wait: the file of papers for the new job, a suitcase of clothes for the first week, a laptop, or medicine. The flight between King Khalid Airport and King Fahd Airport takes about an hour, and the carton is delivered to the door of your new home in 1 to 2 days. The furniture itself has a road too short and too cheap to justify flying it.
How do I contact Home Safe?
