Furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh: the answer in one table
Anyone asking about this move wants four figures before any explanation: how far it is, how many hours on the road, when the furniture reaches the door, and where the cost starts. We have gathered them here, and each line is explained in its own section. The figures are counted from Jeddah’s residential districts to Riyadh’s residential districts, not from one city gate to another.

Who moves furniture from Jeddah to Riyadh?
Jeddah – Riyadh is the busiest of our inter-city moving lines, because these are the Kingdom’s two largest cities and job transfers between them never stop. Not everyone who calls is moving a whole home. Some move a room, some move an office, and some send their son a few cartons and a small fridge. The table shows who they are and what suits each of them:
| Who is moving | What they usually move | What suits them |
|---|---|---|
| An employee transferred to the capital | The furniture of a flat or villa, with appliances and kitchen | A dedicated truck with dismantling, packing and assembly |
| A family joining its breadwinner | Bedrooms, the sitting room and the children’s things | A dedicated truck on a fixed date before school starts |
| A single employee or new graduate | A bed, a wardrobe, a desk and cartons | A shared load charged by space |
| A university student | Suitcases, books and small devices | A shared load, or air if in a hurry |
| A company relocating a branch or office | Desks, filing cabinets and screens | A dedicated truck at the weekend |
| Someone who bought furniture in Jeddah | One or two new pieces in factory packing | A shared load charged by the piece |
Planning the furniture move two weeks ahead
A move between two cities cannot be put right halfway. Inside a city the truck can go back for what was forgotten, but on a 950 km road whatever stayed in Jeddah stays there. So the work starts with a sheet of paper, not a carton: what travels, what is sold or given away, when the old home is handed over, and when the new one is received.
We share that sheet with you from the first call. You send photos of the rooms, we count the pieces and estimate the truck box and the number of cartons, and we agree on the loading day and the arrival day. The table below is a practical schedule our customers have tried on this line:
| Before loading | What you do | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Two weeks | Decide what moves and what goes, and send photos of the rooms | Count the pieces and send an itemised price |
| One week | Confirm the day and notify the building management in both cities | Reserve the truck and crew and send the booking confirmation |
| 3 days | Empty the fridge and freezer and wash whatever needs washing | Deliver cartons to anyone who wants to pack their own things |
| One day | Set aside documents, gold, medicines and what you will carry yourself | Confirm the arrival time and where the truck will stand |
| Loading day | Point out what travels and what stays, and sign the inventory | Dismantle, pack, number, load and lock the box in front of you |
Counting and sorting the furniture before the first carton is opened
Sorting is what turns unloading in Riyadh into hours rather than a full day. We go through the home room by room, count the pieces, and split them into groups that are packed and loaded together: glass and tableware in one group, dismantled wood in another, appliances in another, clothes and soft furnishings in another.
Every piece and every carton takes a number and a colour that points to its room in the new home. The numbers are written in an inventory in two copies, one with you and one with the crew. With that list you know at the door in Riyadh that everything that left Jeddah has arrived, without opening a single carton.
- Valuable and one-off pieces: recorded individually with a description and a photo, and loaded last so they come off first.
- What does not travel in the truck: gold, cash, official documents and medicines stay with you in your car or bag.
- What is not worth the road: a broken piece or a worn-out chipboard wardrobe may cost more to move than it is worth, and we tell you so plainly.
Dismantling the furniture at your home in Jeddah
What is dismantled properly goes back together in Riyadh as it was. What is pulled apart in a hurry ends up with widened holes and a lean once assembled. So the technician begins by photographing the piece from every side before touching a single screw, and photographs the joints, the hinges and the order of the shelves, because those photos are the assembly guide 950 km later.
Bedrooms, wardrobes, the dining set and desks are then taken down to panels. The screws and hinges of each piece go into a sealed bag taped to it or marked with its number. The panels are stacked with a divider of cardboard or foam between each pair, so no face rubs against another all the way. Glass doors and mirrors are taken off the wardrobes and packed separately.
Not everything is dismantled. Sofas, chairs and small tables travel as they are once wrapped. An old chipboard wardrobe may not survive a second dismantling, so we tell you before we start on it. Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275, and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640.
Packing tableware and ornaments at home in Jeddah before the move to Riyadh

What breaks most in inter-city moves is not the wardrobe or the fridge but what is in the kitchen and the sitting room: coffee pots and cups, china sets, crystal, incense burners and ornaments. These pieces are small and light, yet they spend long hours in a box that vibrates. Packing that is enough inside Jeddah is not enough to Riyadh.
Our rule has three parts: every piece is wrapped on its own, no piece touches another, and no gap is left in the carton. A coffee pot has its hollow stuffed with soft paper, and its spout and handle are wrapped separately. Cups go into a carton divided into cells, one cell per cup. Plates stand on their edge, because a standing plate takes a knock better than a flat one.
Paintings, mirrors and frames have their own method. Cardboard corners are fitted to all four corners to protect the weakest point, the face is covered with paper and then bubble wrap, and the piece is placed between two stiff boards. An ornament with an irregular shape is surrounded with bubble wrap until it becomes a single block, then placed in a carton larger than it on every side.
| Piece | Packing material | How it sits in the carton |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee pots and jugs | Soft paper in the hollow and round the spout, then bubble wrap | Upright, with padding between them |
| Coffee cups, tea glasses and tumblers | Soft paper for each piece | A carton divided into cells |
| China sets and plates | Paper between every two plates, then a wrap for the stack | Standing on edge on a cushion of paper |
| Crystal, incense burners and ornaments | Soft paper, then two layers of bubble wrap | A double-wall carton larger than the piece |
| Paintings, frames and mirrors | Cardboard corners, paper, bubble wrap and two stiff boards | Standing on edge, with nothing on top |
| Pots and cookware | Paper between nested pieces | Heaviest at the bottom, in a small carton |
We write “Fragile”, the room name and the list number on two sides of the carton, and draw an arrow showing which way is up. The materials and how to use them are detailed in the article on packing furniture for a move and in the packing guide.
Packing wood, sofas and mattresses for a road that lasts a whole night
The rest of the home is packed according to what harms it. Painted wood is harmed by rubbing, fabric by dust, leather by pressure, and glass by impact. Each has its own material. In Jeddah there is one more reason for care: coastal humidity. A piece wrapped in plastic while damp keeps that moisture locked in until it arrives, leaving stains on wood or a smell in fabric.
So we wipe the pieces and let them dry, and put corrugated cardboard or a moving blanket on the wood with the plastic over them. Bubble wrap is for delicate pieces only, and paper is for filling gaps inside cartons. On arrival the wrapping comes off the same day, and Riyadh’s dry air does the rest.
| Piece | How it is packed | What we avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom and wardrobe panels | Corrugated cardboard on the face, reinforced corners and tape on the outside | Sticking tape directly onto the paint |
| Sofas and upholstered chairs | A moving blanket, then stretch film to keep dust out | Putting weight on the armrests |
| Mattresses | A mattress bag sealed at both ends | Folding a sprung mattress |
| Marble and glass tables | The top is removed and packed alone between two boards | Carrying it flat under a load |
| Rugs and carpets | Rolled on themselves and covered with plastic | Folding them into a square |
| Chandeliers | Glass parts removed and wrapped one by one, the frame in a carton | Moving them assembled |
Bringing furniture down from upper floors in Jeddah
Good packing is wasted if the piece hits the stairwell wall. Many of Jeddah’s residential buildings have narrow stairs and a small lift, especially in the older districts. So we look at the entrance, the lift and the corridor before loading day, and decide how each large piece will come down.
What fits in the lift goes down in it once its walls and floor are protected. What does not is carried down the stairs on shoulder straps by two workers. A piece that will not pass the stairs at all, such as a wardrobe that was not dismantled, a long corner sofa or a two-door fridge, comes down from the balcony or window by an exterior hoist that lifts it on a padded platform.
A dedicated truck or a shared load?
This is the first decision, and it sets both the price and the date. A dedicated truck is reserved for your furniture alone, leaves on loading day and arrives the next day, and its box is not opened between the two doors. A shared load combines your furniture with other shipments going to Riyadh, so you pay only for your space and wait for the truck to fill.
Volume decides between them first. Anything that fills half a box or more is cheaper and safer in a dedicated truck. Anything below that, such as one room or a handful of pieces, has no reason to pay for a whole truck. And anyone with a tight date takes the dedicated truck even if the furniture is little.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared load |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | A whole flat, a villa, an office, a fixed date | A few pieces, a room, cartons |
| Departure | The loading day itself | When the truck is full |
| Door-to-door time | One to two days | 2–4 days |
| Handling | One loading and one unloading | The shipment may pass through a consolidation point |
| Packing required | Full | Full and reinforced, with a label bearing your name on every piece |
| Starting price | Starts from SAR 1,012 for a Dyna; a small truck is set on request | Set on request |
The overland road from Jeddah to Riyadh across the Najd plateau

The truck takes Highway 40, the road that crosses the Kingdom from Jeddah in the west to Dammam in the east. It leaves Jeddah towards Makkah, then climbs to Al-Sail al-Kabir and Al-Hawiyah north of Taif, where the Hejaz mountains end and the Najd plateau begins. From there the road runs east through Radwan, Al-Muwayh, Zalim, Ar-Ruwaydah, Halban, Al-Quwayiyah and Al-Muzahimiyah until it enters Riyadh from the west.
The highway’s alignment passes Al-Sail al-Kabir, not the Al-Hada ascent with its mountain bends, and that is kinder to the load. The Taif – Riyadh section has three lanes in each direction, is straight for most of its length, and has fuel stations and rest areas along both sides. Riyadh itself stands on the plateau, about 600 metres above sea level.
| Stage | What marks it | Effect on the load |
|---|---|---|
| Jeddah → Makkah | A wide expressway with heavy traffic | Repeated stopping and starting, so the lashing is tested from the first hour |
| Makkah → Al-Sail al-Kabir | A climb from the coastal plain to the highlands | The load leans backwards, so standing pieces are braced |
| Al-Sail al-Kabir → Al-Muwayh and Zalim | The start of the plateau, with crosswinds at times | A closed box keeps dust off the fabric |
| Zalim → Al-Quwayiyah | The longest straight section, with a day-to-night temperature swing | Hours of light, steady vibration that loosen weak lashing |
| Al-Quwayiyah → Al-Muzahimiyah → Riyadh | Approaching the capital, with traffic building up | Entry is timed to the truck hours |
What this means for your furniture is that securing it inside the box matters as much as packing it. The climb pushes the load backwards, braking pushes it forwards, and the long hours of vibration shift whatever is not tied down. So we build the box in layers: appliances and heavy wardrobes at the front, braced against the wall; panels standing on their side and strapped to the rings of the box; cartons on top of the solid pieces; and glass and paintings last, beside the door. Gaps are filled with blankets and mattresses so that nothing finds room to slide into.
The driver stops at the rest areas, checks the straps and tightens them again. We follow the trip with him from departure to arrival, and let you know when the truck leaves Jeddah, when it passes the halfway point, and before it enters Riyadh, in good time for you to be at the house. How follow-up works is on the shipment tracking page, and overland transport is explained on the land freight page.
How long does furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh take?
The road alone does not set the time. The road is fixed; what changes is what comes before and after it: how long the home needs for dismantling and packing, whether the truck is yours alone, and when it is allowed to enter your district in Riyadh. The table breaks the time down by the size and method of the move:
| The move | Loading in Jeddah | The road | Door to door |
|---|---|---|---|
| A few pieces or one room, shared load | One to two hours | Once the truck is full | 2–4 days |
| A two- to three-room flat, dedicated truck | Half a day | One night | One to two days |
| A large flat or a floor, dedicated truck | A full day | One night | Two days |
| A villa with full packing | One to two days | One night | 2–3 days |
| A car on a carrier | Under an hour | Depends on the carrier filling | 1–3 days |
| Cartons and suitcases by air | Collected from the door | A flight of about one hour fifty minutes | 1–2 days |
What lengthens the time? Usually four things: a late booking at month-end or before school starts, when demand is high; a home that was not sorted, which doubles the packing time; a building that allows moves only at set hours; and the truck-ban hours in Riyadh if the truck arrives at the wrong time. All of them are dealt with by planning early.
Prices for furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh
On this line the price follows the space your furniture takes in the box, then the service you ask for around it. So we give the starting price for each vehicle size and leave whole homes to the count, because two flats with the same number of rooms can differ twofold in furniture. These are the starting prices:
| What you move | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A few pieces in a shared load | Set on request | One or two appliances, or a few cartons |
| Part of the box of a shared Dyna | Set on request | A dismantled bedroom or the equivalent |
| A small dedicated truck | Set on request | A studio’s furniture, or a room with its appliances |
| A dedicated Dyna | Starts from SAR 1,012 | A small flat’s furniture, transport without services |
| A complete flat or a floor | Set on request | After the pieces are counted from photos or a visit |
| A villa’s furniture | Set on request | May need more than one truck |
| Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom | Starts from SAR 275 | Added to the transport price |
| Dismantling a kitchen | Starts from SAR 640 | By the number of cabinets |
| A carton up to 20 kg | Starts from SAR 87 | Within the shared load |
| A car on a shared carrier | Starts from SAR 830 | An enclosed carrier is priced on request |
Prices circulating in the market: what we found published for this line runs between SAR 400 and SAR 1,100 depending on truck size, with a stated minimum of SAR 400 and small trucks starting from SAR 600. A Dyna is quoted once at SAR 450 to 1,100, once as starting from SAR 800, and once at SAR 1,100 to 1,200. Most of these figures do not say whether they include dismantling, packing and assembly, and some pages publish no figure at all. The original article on this page gave no price.
| Factor | How it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Volume of furniture | The basis: it sets the vehicle size or the space charged to you |
| Dedicated or shared | Dedicated costs more unless your furniture fills half the box or more |
| Dismantling and assembly | Charged by the number and type of pieces dismantled |
| Packing | Full packing adds; packing your own cartons reduces |
| Floor and lift | An upper floor without a lift adds labour and time in both cities |
| Exterior hoist | Added if neither stairs nor lift will do |
| Moving date | Month-end and holiday seasons are in higher demand |
| Storage | Added if the new home is not ready |
How do you cut the cost?
- Get rid of what you do not need before the count; every metre in the box is charged.
- Pack clothes, books and soft furnishings yourself, and leave glass, appliances and wood to the crew.
- Choose mid-month and midweek if your date is flexible.
- Accept a shared load if your furniture is little and a two-day wait does you no harm.
- Send clear photos of every room; an accurate count stops a larger vehicle than you need being reserved.
What goes into the price is explained on the pricing factors page.
Preparing the home in Riyadh before the truck arrives
Furniture should enter a home that is ready. If the truck arrives while the paint is still wet or the floors are being laid, the furniture stays wrapped in one room and is then carried a second time inside the house. That doubles the work and exposes the pieces to what they were protected from all along the road.
So make sure of five things before arrival day. If one of them cannot be done, tell us before loading so we can move the day or arrange temporary storage:
- Finishing and painting are complete, and the home is cleaned of building dust.
- Electricity and water are on and the air conditioners tested; assembly in a Riyadh summer without cooling is exhausting.
- Doors, corridors and the internal staircase are measured and compared with your largest piece.
- The truck’s standing place is set, and the building or compound management has agreed to the unloading hour.
- A simple sketch shows which room takes which furniture, to match the label colours on the cartons.
Put the personal belongings you carried yourself in a locked room before the crew comes in, so they are not mixed up with the arriving cartons.
Assembling the furniture from Jeddah in Riyadh’s districts

In Riyadh the furniture comes off in the reverse of its loading order, and each piece goes straight to its room by the colour of its label. Then assembly begins: the bed and wardrobe first, so the family sleeps its first night at home, then the sitting room and dining set, then the appliances. Unloading and assembly in Riyadh are arranged by advance booking for the truck’s arrival date.
Assembling wardrobes takes more than tightening screws. Floors differ from one house to another, and a wardrobe that stood level in Jeddah may lean here so that its doors no longer meet. So the technician levels it with a spirit level and adjusts its feet and hinges until the doors close and the drawers slide as they did. The wrapping is then removed and collected, and you go through the inventory with us number by number before signing for delivery.
We deliver in every district of the capital. Most of those who move from Jeddah settle in north Riyadh, where the modern villas, duplexes and new residential compounds are:
| Area | Districts we deliver in | What to allow for |
|---|---|---|
| North Riyadh | Al-Malqa, Al-Yasmin, Al-Narjis, Hittin, Al-Sahafah, Al-Arid, Al-Qairawan | Villas and duplexes with internal stairs, and new districts where some streets are still under construction |
| Central Riyadh | Al-Olaya, Al-Sulaimaniyah, Al-Malaz, Al-Wurud | Blocks and towers with service lifts and unloading hours set by the management |
| East Riyadh | Qurtubah, Al-Yarmuk, Al-Rawdah, Al-Naseem, Al-Hamra | Villas and family flats, with easier parking in the inner streets |
| West Riyadh | Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq, Al-Uraija, Al-Suwaidi | The side nearest the entrance of the Jeddah road |
| South Riyadh | Al-Aziziyah, Al-Shifa, Al-Dar al-Baida, Badr | Some narrow streets that need a smaller vehicle |
| Nearby governorates | Diriyah, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Kharj | Mentioned at booking so the truck’s route is planned |
Truck entry to Riyadh is regulated by the traffic department with hours that change between days and seasons. So we time the arrival for the permitted period, or the load is transferred to a smaller vehicle that enters the district, and we confirm the hours in force before loading day. Anyone who wants a move inside the capital after settling in will find the details in the article on furniture moving in Riyadh.
Moving household appliances between the two cities
Appliances are the heaviest things in the home and the costliest after the bedrooms, and each one has something to be done before loading and something to wait for after unloading. Ignoring that does not show on the road but a week into use in Riyadh. So we prepare them ourselves, or remind you of your part before loading day:
| Appliance | Before loading in Jeddah | After unloading in Riyadh |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge and freezer | Emptied and unplugged a day ahead, dried inside, and moved upright | Left for some hours before switching on so the compressor gas settles |
| Washing machine | Drained, with the drum locked by its transit bolts | Transit bolts removed and feet adjusted |
| Split air conditioner | Gas pumped down into the outdoor unit, then both units removed | Installed, with the gas pressure checked before use |
| Screens | In the original carton or a screen carton, with the face protected | Wall-mounted or set on the stand and tested in front of you |
| Oven and cooker | Gas connection detached, shelves and grids secured | Gas connected and checked for leaks |
Car transport from Jeddah to Riyadh on a carrier
Many of those relocating fly and leave the car to us, or have a second car with no one to drive it. A car does not go inside the furniture box. It is loaded on a car carrier, secured by its wheels with straps, and travels along the same road.
Before it is lifted, the car is photographed from every side and inside, and its odometer and any scratches are recorded in a report you sign; it is handed over in Riyadh against the same report. We ask for a quarter of a tank of fuel and no personal belongings left inside. Transport on a shared carrier starts from SAR 830 and arrives in one to 3 days, and an enclosed carrier for luxury and classic cars is priced on request.
The service is detailed in the article on the car shipping company in Jeddah and on the car shipping page.
Storing furniture in Jeddah or on arrival
Not every relocation happens in a day. You may hand over your home in Jeddah at month-end while the Riyadh home is not received for another two weeks, or you travel first and the family follows after the school year ends. Storage bridges that gap without the furniture being moved twice.
The simplest way is to store it in Jeddah before it travels, dismantled, packed and numbered exactly as it will be loaded, so that it goes from the warehouse straight onto the truck the day you ask for it. A small space starts from SAR 185 a month, and a flat’s furniture from SAR 600. Storage on arrival in Riyadh is arranged by advance booking and priced on request.
Details are in the article on furniture storage in Jeddah and on the storage page.
The reverse direction: furniture moving from Riyadh to Jeddah
The line works both ways, on the same road and in the same time. Anyone returning from the capital to Jeddah, or moving there for a new job, books on the same number. The difference is in the arrangement, not the service: dismantling, packing and loading in Riyadh are arranged by advance booking, and unloading and assembly in Jeddah are done by our team there.
What changes is what you face at each end. Loading in Riyadh is governed by the truck-entry hours. Delivery in Jeddah has to allow for buildings with narrow stairs and for humidity that must not be trapped under plastic after arrival, so the wrapping comes off that day. The price in the reverse direction is set on request by volume, and car transport likewise starts from SAR 830.
Domestic air freight from Jeddah to Riyadh for cartons and suitcases

Furniture belongs on the truck. But every move has things that cannot wait for it: the first week’s clothes, the bag of work papers, school books, and a device you need the day you arrive. These fly from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, on a flight of about one hour and fifty minutes.
We collect the cartons and suitcases from your door in Jeddah, weigh and measure them, and hand them over for the nearest available flight. In Riyadh you choose: collect them from the airport yourself, or have us deliver them to your address. Either way they arrive within one to two days. The route between the two cities is among the Kingdom’s busiest for flights, but cargo timings follow the space available on the aircraft, so we confirm the nearest flight at booking.
| Item | Domestic air freight | Truck |
|---|---|---|
| Suits | Urgent cartons, suitcases, documents and small devices | Furniture, large appliances and anything heavy or bulky |
| Basis of charge | Chargeable weight: actual or volumetric, whichever is greater | Space in the box |
| Time to the door | 1–2 days | One to 4 days |
| Not accepted | Pressurised sprays, flammable liquids and loose batteries | Hazardous materials and fuel |
| Price | Set on request | A carton from SAR 87 |
The practical advice is to split your belongings from the start: what you need in your first week goes in two or three suitcases that fly or travel with you, and the rest goes on the truck. Volumetric weight is worked out in the volumetric weight calculator, and the service is explained on the air freight page.
After Riyadh: moving furniture outside the Kingdom
Some of those who move to Riyadh later move abroad, and for some who call us from Jeddah the final destination is not the capital at all. International shipping is the core of our work: by land to the Gulf and Jordan, by sea in containers, and by air to any airport. The truck carrying your furniture to Riyadh may be the first stage of that journey.
| Destination and method | Example | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| By land from Riyadh to Kuwait | A bedroom | SAR 920 |
| By land from Riyadh to the UAE | A bedroom or studio | SAR 1,380 |
| By air to the Gulf states | Per kilogram | SAR 14 |
| By air to Europe | Per kilogram | SAR 23 |
| By sea in a container | A whole home’s furniture | Set on request by port |
For the leg that starts in the capital, read about the international shipping company in Riyadh; the nationwide picture is covered under the international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia.
Collection from Jeddah’s districts and the towns near it
We load from every district of Jeddah, and from the nearby governorates that the truck passes or that lie a little off its way. The district decides which vehicle reaches your door: the wide streets of the north take the truck directly, while the lanes of the old districts need a small vehicle to ferry the furniture to the truck waiting on the main street.
| Area | Districts and towns | Loading note |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | Obhur al-Shamaliyah, Al-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, Al-Naeem, Al-Basateen | Modern villas and towers, with easy standing for the truck |
| Central Jeddah | Al-Rawdah, Al-Zahra, Al-Salamah, Al-Khalidiyah, Al-Hamra | Buildings with lifts; the time is coordinated with the management |
| East Jeddah | Al-Safa, Al-Marwah, Al-Samer, Al-Ajwad, Al-Hamdaniyah | Family flats, many on floors without a lift |
| South and old Jeddah | Al-Balad, Al-Kandarah, Al-Sanabel, Al-Jamiah | Narrow streets that need a small vehicle |
| On the truck’s road | Bahrah, Makkah, Taif | Loaded on the way and coordinated at booking |
| North of Jeddah, outside it | Dhahban, Thuwal, Rabigh | Collection by prior appointment |
Anyone moving inside Jeddah before travelling, or wanting a move between its districts only, will find that in the article on the furniture moving company in Jeddah.
Booking steps from the first call to signing for delivery
The house-to-house method has eight steps, half of them done before the truck moves. Each step has something that fixes it: an itemised price, a booking confirmation, an inventory and a delivery report.
- Contact: you call or message us on 0552803439 and give the two districts, the two floors and the day that suits you.
- Count: you send photos of the rooms or a list of the pieces, or we visit if the home is large.
- Price: it reaches you itemised: transport, dismantling and assembly, packing, and any extras such as a hoist or storage.
- Booking confirmation: it fixes the day, the vehicle, the items and the terms.
- Loading day: dismantling, packing, numbering and inventory, then loading, securing and locking the box in front of you.
- The road: the truck is followed and you are told at departure and before it enters Riyadh.
- Delivery: unloading and distribution to the rooms, then assembly, adjustment and switching on the appliances.
- Handover: the list is checked number by number, the glass cartons are opened, then you sign.
The address-to-address service is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Follow-up, the crew’s responsibility and insuring the furniture
Three things protect your rights on a move of this distance: photos of the pieces before they are packed, the inventory signed by both sides, and the booking confirmation that states the terms. The crew is responsible for what it packed and loaded with its own hands under those terms. If something shows up when the cartons are opened, it is noted in the delivery report before signing and dealt with as written in the confirmation.
Cargo insurance is optional and offered on request. It is usually asked for by those with high-value pieces: original paintings, ornaments, hand-made rugs or costly new appliances. It is calculated on the value you declare in an itemised list. Details are on the cargo insurance page.
The advantages of a specialist mover, and how to choose one
Moves between Jeddah and Riyadh are offered by many, from registered establishments to a driver with a vehicle and an advert. The difference does not show in the advertised price but in what happens when the wardrobe is dismantled and when a piece breaks. A specialist has technicians for dismantling and assembly, packing materials for each type, equipment such as straps and a hoist, and someone who answers your phone while the truck is on the road. These are signs to tell them apart before you pay:
| Ask about | What reassures you | What warns you |
|---|---|---|
| A count before the price | Asks for photos or a visit, then prices | A ready figure on the phone before knowing what you have |
| Price items | Separates transport from dismantling, packing and assembly | “Everything included” with nothing on paper |
| Packing | Names the materials and distinguishes glass, wood and fabric | Blankets only, for everything |
| The vehicle | A clean closed box and lashing straps | An open vehicle covered with a tarpaulin |
| Inventory | Numbers on the pieces and a copy you sign | Loading without counting |
| Legal standing | Commercial registration, a receipt, and an account in the establishment’s name | A transfer to a personal account with no receipt |
| Follow-up | A number answered in the stated working hours while the truck is on the road | A phone switched off after loading |
Common mistakes in furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh
- Booking the truck before being sure of the handover date of the Riyadh home, then hunting for storage at the last minute.
- Packing coffee pots and cups as for a move within the neighbourhood, in towels or newspaper with no cells and no padding.
- Wrapping wood directly in plastic in Jeddah’s humid air, and leaving it wrapped for days after arrival.
- Putting gold, documents and medicines in the truck’s cartons instead of carrying them by hand.
- Switching on the fridge the moment it is unloaded, or running the washing machine before removing the transit bolts.
- Comparing offers by the total figure alone, without asking what it covers in dismantling, packing and assembly.
- Signing for delivery in Riyadh before counting the pieces and opening the glass cartons.

Frequently asked questions about furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh
How far is Riyadh from Jeddah by road?
About 950 km along Highway 40, which passes Makkah and Al-Sail al-Kabir, then Al-Muwayh, Zalim, Al-Quwayiyah and Al-Muzahimiyah. A private car covers it in 9 to 10 hours; a loaded furniture truck needs longer because it travels more slowly and its driver stops to rest and refuel. That is why we allow the truck a night on the road or a full day.
How long does furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh take?
With a dedicated truck, one to two days from your door in Jeddah to your door in Riyadh: a day for dismantling, packing and loading, then the road, then unloading and assembly. A shared load takes 2 to 4 days because it waits for the truck to fill. A large home that needs two days of packing adds a day to that.
How much does furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh cost?
A dedicated Dyna starts from SAR 1,012 for the transport itself. A few pieces in a shared load, part of the box of a shared Dyna, a small dedicated truck, and a complete flat or villa are all priced on request once the pieces have been counted. Send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp to 0552803439 and the figure will reach you.
Does the price include dismantling, packing and assembly?
The starting prices quoted are for the transport itself. Dismantling, assembly and full packing are items added according to the number of pieces, and all of them are written into the booking confirmation before loading day. Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275, and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640. Anyone who packs their own cartons pays less.
How do you pack coffee pots, cups and china sets?
Each piece is wrapped on its own in soft paper that leaves no mark on the glaze, then placed in a carton divided into cells so that no cup touches another. Coffee pots have their hollow stuffed with paper, and the spout and handle get an extra wrap. Plates stand on their edge rather than lying flat, and every gap is filled so that nothing moves when the carton is shaken.
How are paintings and mirrors carried on a road this long?
Cardboard corners are fitted to all four corners, the face is covered with paper and then a layer of bubble wrap, and the piece is placed between two sheets of stiff board. It is loaded standing on its edge beside the wall of the truck box and strapped to it, with nothing placed on top. A large or valuable painting gets a wooden crate on request.
Can the truck enter Riyadh’s districts at any time?
No. Riyadh’s traffic department regulates truck entry to the city by set hours that change between days and seasons and are tighter in Ramadan. So we time the truck’s arrival for the permitted hours, or transfer the load to a smaller vehicle that can enter the district. We confirm the hours in force before loading day, and none of it requires anything from you.
Do you have a branch in Riyadh?
No. Home Safe is a Saudi establishment based in Jeddah with commercial registration 4030601060. Dismantling, packing and loading in Jeddah are done by our team there, and unloading and assembly in Riyadh are arranged by advance booking for the truck’s arrival date. You follow the whole move through one number, from the first call to signing for delivery.
Can I move just a few pieces?
Yes. A fridge and a washing machine, a single bedroom, or twenty cartons: all of them travel in a shared load and you pay only for the space they take, priced on request according to that space. The difference from a dedicated truck is the timing: a shared truck leaves when it is full, so it arrives in 2 to 4 days.
Do you move the car along with the furniture?
A car does not go inside the furniture box. It is loaded on a car carrier and secured by its wheels, and it travels on the same date or close to it. Moving it between Jeddah and Riyadh starts from SAR 830 on a shared carrier, arriving in one to 3 days. An enclosed carrier for a luxury car is priced on request.
What if my home in Riyadh is not ready the day the truck arrives?
We store the furniture until it is. The easiest way is to keep it in Jeddah before it travels: a small space starts from SAR 185 a month, and a flat’s furniture from SAR 600. Storage on arrival in Riyadh is arranged by booking and priced on request. Tell us before loading, because the truck is stowed differently when the load is going to a warehouse.
Is furniture affected by the difference in climate between Jeddah and Riyadh?
Jeddah is coastal and humid, and Riyadh is dry, on a plateau about 600 metres high. Natural wood and leather are affected by that change if they are wrapped damp or if moisture is trapped under plastic. So we dry the pieces before wrapping them, put cardboard or a blanket directly on the wood with the plastic over them, and unwrap in Riyadh on the day of arrival.
Is there air freight from Jeddah to Riyadh?
Yes, for urgent cartons and suitcases, not for furniture. They fly from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on a flight of about one hour and fifty minutes, and are collected at the airport or delivered to the door within one to two days. The price is set on request according to the chargeable weight.
Who is responsible if a piece is damaged on the road?
The crew is responsible for what it packed and loaded with its own hands, under the terms written in the booking confirmation; that is why we photograph the pieces before packing and sign the inventory with you. Anything you packed yourself is recorded in the list as well. Anyone who wants wider cover for valuable pieces can ask for cargo insurance, which is optional and added at booking.
How do I book my furniture move from Jeddah to Riyadh?
Call or message us on 0552803439 from 7 am to 11 pm, send photos of the rooms or a list of the pieces, and give the district and floor in Jeddah and in Riyadh and the day that suits you. You receive an itemised price and then the booking confirmation with the date. It is best to book a week ahead, and two weeks ahead of month-end and the holidays.
