What does a furniture moving company in Saudi Arabia provide?

Moving furniture is not just the hire of a vehicle. It is work that begins hours before the truck arrives and ends after it has left: pieces are taken apart, glass is protected, cartons are filled and numbered, the load is arranged and strapped, and then everything returns to its shape in another home. A company that handles all of this turns a week of effort into a day or two.

The Kingdom is vast, so a move here may be from one district to the next, or more than a thousand kilometres from coast to coast. The service is the same at heart; what changes is the strength of the packing, the way the load is secured, the type of vehicle and the number of days. The table sums up what you need to know before you call:

Item Short answer
What the move includes Listing, dismantling, packing, loading, the road, unloading, assembly and arranging
Scope of service Inside the city, between Saudi cities, and abroad
Vehicles Closed trucks in different sizes, and a small vehicle for narrow lanes
How it is priced From photos or a list, and by survey for villas and large offices
Starting price inside a city SAR 460 for a room or a few pieces
Price between two cities Set on request by volume and distance
Base of the establishment Jeddah; other cities by advance booking
Contact hours 7 am to 11 pm

Home Safe is based in Jeddah. A move in any other city is arranged by advance booking, with the crew and truck scheduled for your date. The general service is described on the furniture shipping page.

Who moves within the Kingdom, and what suits them?

The reasons for moving in Saudi Arabia are familiar: a new job in another city, the end of a tenancy, a home of one’s own after years of renting, or a student admitted to a distant university. Each case has a different volume and a different deadline, so one solution does not fit all. This is what we advise for each group:

Who is moving What they usually move Best solution
A family changing flats in the same city Three to five rooms with the kitchen and appliances One truck and one day, with dismantling and assembly
An employee transferred to another city A whole home and a car A dedicated truck between the two cities and a carrier for the car
A student or single employee One room, cartons and small appliances A space in a shared truck
A family moving into a villa A lot of furniture, sitting rooms and outdoor furniture A prior survey and more than one vehicle
An office or shop owner Desks, shelving, equipment and files A move outside working hours, numbered by department
A resident leaving the Kingdom for good Furniture and personal belongings International shipping by land or sea, and air for urgent items

Three kinds of move: inside the city, between cities and abroad

The first question we ask a caller is: from where to where? The answer defines the whole service. A move inside a city is one day’s work with a truck that goes and comes back. A move between two cities is a road journey that needs stronger packing and pricing by volume. A move abroad is international shipping with paperwork and a border post, a seaport or an airport.

Point of comparison Inside the city Between two cities Outside the Kingdom
Distance A few to a few dozen kilometres From 80 km to more than 1,300 km Through a land border, a seaport or an airport
Time Usually one day 1 to 5 days Days by land and air, weeks by sea
Packing Protection from scratches and breakage Full packing that withstands hours of vibration Export packing and a packing list
Basis of the price Number of rooms, floor and services Volume, distance and type of truck Volume or weight, and the destination
Paperwork Nothing but the list of pieces The list of pieces and the transport note Customs documents according to the country

For loose parcels, cartons and trade goods rather than a home’s furniture, see the article domestic shipping company in Saudi Arabia.

Survey and pricing: by photos or by a visit?

A correct price needs a correct picture of the furniture. Most flats are priced remotely: two photos of each room, one of the wardrobes open, and one of the building entrance and the stairs or the lift. From these photos we know how many pieces need dismantling, how many cartons to expect, the size of the truck, and how many workers are enough to finish the job in its day.

For a villa, a large office, or a home with a piano, a steel safe or antiques, an on-site survey is more accurate. A representative comes, counts the pieces and measures the doors and corridors, and asks about the other home: its floor, its lift and where the truck can stand in front of it. You then receive one figure that states what it covers item by item, so it does not change on moving day unless the furniture itself changes.

  • Mention everything: what is on the roof, in the storeroom and on the balcony is usually forgotten and then appears on loading day.
  • Ask about the number of workers: a small crew for a big home means a delay into the night.
  • Say what is not moving: pieces you will sell or donate are taken out of the calculation.

Packing furniture and children’s rooms in Saudi homes

Packing furniture and children’s rooms in Saudi homes

A Saudi home holds categories you do not find in every house: an Arabic majlis with its seating and back cushions, a guest room, a large dining set, many carpets, and children’s rooms full of toys. Each category has its method. Good packing starts with sorting the rooms: each room is packed on its own and given a number, and its cartons are marked with the same number.

Children’s rooms deserve special care for two reasons. The first is that their pieces are small, numerous and easily lost; the second is that the child is the one most affected by the move. So the toys are packed in cartons marked with the child’s name and loaded last so that they come off first. The bed is assembled and the cartons opened before the rest of the house.

Room What is dismantled How it is packed
Children’s room The bed, the bunk bed, the small wardrobe and the desk Blankets and stretch film, with toys in cartons under the child’s name
Master bedroom The bed, the wardrobe, the dressing table and its mirror Panels in blankets, and the mirror in corrugated board with protected corners
Majlis and living room Sectional sofas, tables and the bookcase Stretch film over fabric that prevents rubbing, with glass packed separately
Dining room The table legs and its glass top The top upright between two boards, and the chairs in pairs
Kitchen Movable shelves and appliances Plates on edge with paper between them, and cups in divided cartons
Carpets and curtains Curtains off their rods Carpets rolled in nylon, and curtains folded in clean cartons

How each category is packed is detailed in the article packing furniture for a move, and the types of material in the packing guide.

Dismantling beds, wardrobes and kitchens

A large piece carried as it is scratches the walls, and its joints loosen at the first staircase. Dismantling solves both problems at once: panels pass through any door and stack in the truck with no wasted space. The carpenter starts with the largest pieces, the wardrobes, then the beds, then the dining table and the bookcase.

Each piece has a small bag in which its screws and hinges are collected, taped to its largest panel. The panels are numbered with a pen on adhesive tape, so whoever assembles them knows their order without guessing. Wardrobes with sliding doors are photographed before dismantling, because their rails need careful adjustment when they are put back.

A fitted kitchen fixed to the wall is a job of its own. Its upper units are removed, then the lower ones, and the sink and the hob are disconnected by a technician. A marble or granite worktop is carried upright on a frame, and there is no assurance that it will fit a kitchen of another size. Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275, and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640.

Loading: stairs, lifts, hoists and narrow streets

Most damage does not happen on the road but between the door of the flat and the door of the truck. That is why we ask about the building at both ends before moving day. A block with a roomy lift differs from a third floor with a narrow staircase, and a villa with a yard the truck can enter differs from a house in a lane where only a small vehicle can pass.

  • The lift: its walls are padded, it is reserved with the building management if required, and it is never loaded beyond its capacity.
  • The stairs: two workers for every heavy piece, and protection for wall corners and handrails.
  • The exterior hoist: for pieces that fit neither the stairs nor the lift, lowered from the window or balcony where the building allows.
  • Lanes and hillsides: a small vehicle shuttles the furniture to a truck standing in the nearest wide street.
  • Parking: the truck’s place is agreed with the neighbours or the guard before it arrives.

In the major cities the traffic departments restrict the entry of heavy trucks at peak times. The hours differ from city to city and they change, so we confirm those in force before loading day and choose the truck size accordingly.

Moving furniture between Saudi cities on the highways

Moving furniture between Saudi cities on the highways

Furniture travelling between two cities spends long hours in the box, and some roads are hot desert while others are mountainous with many bends. The truck is therefore always closed, protecting against dust, sun and rain. Inside, the load is stacked in rows: heavy and flat items at the bottom, cartons above them, and glass and mirrors upright along the sides.

The rows are then strapped to rings in the walls of the box, and the gaps between them are filled with blankets and cushions. The aim is that no piece moves under sudden braking or over bumps. The driver keeps to the regulated rest stops, and we tell you when the truck sets off and when it is approaching, so that you or your representative are at the new home before it arrives.

Stage What happens Usual time
1. Listing and booking Photos or a survey, then a price and a date One to two days
2. Dismantling and packing In the old home, room after room Half a day for a flat, a day or more for a villa
3. Loading and securing Stacking, strapping and a list with the number of pieces Two to four hours
4. The road Driving between the two cities with the driver’s stops From two hours to two days
5. Unloading Taking the pieces to their rooms by number Two to four hours
6. Assembly and arranging Rebuilding what was dismantled, checking the list and signing Half a day

A dedicated or a shared truck for your furniture?

The choice between them is a matter of volume and deadline. Someone moving a whole home who wants to sleep in the new house on the nearest night is suited only by a truck of their own. Someone sending a bedroom to a son in another city, or sending the furniture weeks ahead, saves a great deal by sharing one truck with others.

Point of comparison Dedicated truck Shared truck
For whom A full flat or a villa One piece to two rooms, and cartons
Departure day The day you choose When the load for the destination city is complete
Charging The hire of the whole trip By cubic metre or by piece
Routing Door to door with no unloading on the way Through a consolidation warehouse, then distribution
Assembly The crew that loaded is the crew that assembles The delivery crew in the arrival city

In both cases your furniture stays separated by its numbers and its list, so it is not mixed with anyone else’s.

The busiest furniture routes between cities

Most demand is on the routes linking the three largest cities with one another, then those linking them with Taif, Madinah and Qassim. Each route has an article that explains its road, the arrival districts and its timing. The distances and driving hours in the table are approximate and follow the road taken and the traffic:

Route Approximate distance Driving Article
Jeddah → Riyadh About 950 km About 9–10 hours Furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh
Jeddah → Dammam About 1,350 km About 13–14 hours Furniture moving from Jeddah to Dammam
Jeddah → Taif About 170 km About two to two and a half hours Furniture moving from Jeddah to Taif
Riyadh → Dammam About 400 km About 4 hours Furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam
Riyadh → Qassim About 350 km About three and a half hours Furniture moving from Riyadh to Qassim
Riyadh → Taif About 800 km About 8 hours Furniture moving from Riyadh to Taif
Riyadh → Madinah About 850 km About 8–9 hours Furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah

The driving hours are for a passenger car; a loaded truck is slower and stops more often. Other routes such as Abha, Tabuk, Jazan and Hail are served in the same way, with their date and price set on request.

Delivering and assembling furniture in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah and Madinah

Delivering and assembling furniture in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah and Madinah

Half the work takes place in the new home. A truck that arrives and leaves the furniture heaped in the living room has not moved a home. With us, unloading follows the numbers: every piece and every carton goes straight to its room. The carpenter then rebuilds what was dismantled, and heavy pieces are set in their final place, so you do not need to shift them after the crew has gone.

The five largest cities receive most of the Kingdom’s house moves, and each has its own character in buildings and streets. The table shows examples of their districts, and each city’s article details its districts, its prices and its particulars:

City Example districts we serve What marks a move there Article
Riyadh Al Malqa, Al Yasmin, Al Narjis, Al Olaya, Al Suwaidi Long distances between districts, with villas and residential compounds Furniture moving in Riyadh
Jeddah Al Safa, Al Salamah, Al Rawdah, Obhur, Al Hamdaniyah Coastal humidity, high-rise blocks and narrow old quarters Furniture moving company in Jeddah
Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran Al Faisaliyah, Al Shati, and the districts of Khobar and Dhahran Three connected cities, with staff residential compounds Furniture moving company in Dammam
Makkah Al Aziziyah, Al Shawqiyah, Al Awali, Al Sharai Hillside districts, and seasons when movement is tighter Furniture moving company in Makkah
Madinah Al Aziziyah, Al Difa, Quba, Al Awali Regulated truck entry near the central area Furniture moving company in Madinah

After assembly the list is checked with you piece by piece. The packing waste, cardboard and nylon, is collected, so nothing is left in the new home to be thrown away.

The Kingdom’s other cities and governorates

The service does not stop at the five cities. Taif, Abha with Khamis Mushait, Qassim and Tabuk have their own articles, and the remaining cities and governorates are served by advance booking from the nearest large city. The difference between one city and another lies in the number of waiting days for a shared truck, not in whether the service is possible.

City or region What it covers Note
Taif Al Shuhada, Shihar, Al Hawiyah A highland city whose road from the coast is mountainous
Abha and Khamis Mushait Al Mansak, Al Muwazzafin, and the districts of Khamis Mushait Fog, rain and steep slopes in the Asir highlands
Qassim Buraydah, Unaizah, Ar Rass Neighbouring cities on the Riyadh–Madinah road
Tabuk Al Muruj, Al Faisaliyah, Al Masif Far from the large cities, with a cold winter
Al-Ahsa, Jubail and Qatif Hofuf and Mubarraz, and the two cities of Jubail Served with the Dammam line
Hail, Al-Jouf and Arar The northern cities Usually a dedicated truck, or longer consolidation
Jazan, Najran and Al-Baha The southern cities Served from Jeddah or Abha depending on the road
Yanbu, Rabigh and Al-Kharj Governorates close to the large cities Added to the Jeddah and Riyadh trips

The full list of cities is on the cities we serve page.

Furniture moving prices in Saudi Arabia

The price of a move inside a city is built on the size of the home and the work it requires. The price of a move between cities is built on volume and distance together, so no single figure fits every home. The table shows starting prices, and the final figure reaches you after you send the photos or the list:

Service Price starts from Note
A room, a studio or a few pieces inside the city SAR 460 This is the minimum for a trip
A two- to three-room flat SAR 550 A move with basic dismantling and assembly
A large flat or a full floor SAR 920 By number of pieces and floor
A four- to five-room flat with full packing SAR 1,380 Every piece and carton packed
A villa SAR 2,150 After a survey; it may need more than one vehicle
Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom SAR 275 A service separate from the move
Dismantling a kitchen SAR 640 Fitting depends on the size of the new kitchen
Moving furniture between two cities Set on request By volume, distance and type of truck
Moving a car between Jeddah and Riyadh SAR 830 Shared carrier, in both directions
A carton up to 20 kg between cities SAR 87 For those sending cartons without furniture
Storing a small space in Jeddah SAR 185 a month In other cities it is set on request

Prices circulating in the market: most of what is published is classified adverts quoting a starting figure for one vehicle trip. Inside Riyadh, for example, figures between SAR 150 and 250 are quoted for a move with no dismantling or packing, and between SAR 350 and 500 with dismantling and assembly. In smaller cities figures of SAR 100 to 150 are advertised. A move with a carpenter in Dammam is quoted at about SAR 900, and from Madinah to other cities between SAR 550 and 850. These figures state neither the size of the home nor what the price covers, so they are useful for comparison only if you ask about the same items.

Factor Its effect on the price
Number and size of the pieces Determines the truck size, the number of workers and the working hours
Floor and lift Stairs lengthen the job, and an exterior hoist is a separate item
Dismantling and assembly Large wardrobes, kitchens and air conditioners add technicians’ charges
Level of packing Full packing of every piece costs more than protecting glass and wood only
Distance between the two cities The road charge rises with it and is affected by the fuel price
Dedicated or shared Dedicated at the hire of the whole trip, shared by the space used
The date The end of the month and holidays are busier than mid-month

How do you cut the cost?

  • Get rid of what you do not need before the listing; every piece moved is counted.
  • Fill the cartons of clothes and books yourself, and leave glass and appliances to the crew.
  • Choose a day in the middle of the month and the middle of the week.
  • Share a truck if your furniture is one or two rooms and your date is flexible.

How long does a furniture move take?

The time is counted from door to door, not the hours on the road alone. A day of dismantling and packing is added for large homes, and a shared truck waits until it is full. The table shows the usual time in each case:

Case Dedicated truck Shared truck
A flat inside the city One day Not needed
A villa inside the city One to two days Not needed
Between two cities up to 450 km Same day or the next 1–3 days
Between two cities about 800–950 km apart 1–2 days 2–4 days
Coast to coast, or to the far north and south 2–3 days 3–5 days

What lengthens the time? A home not prepared for moving day, a lift out of order, a new home whose key has not been handed over, truck restriction hours, the busy seasons, and highland fog and dust storms on the open roads.

Moving air conditioners and electrical appliances

Appliances are the most valuable things in the home after the furniture, and the most affected by a careless move. The Kingdom’s summer makes the air conditioner the first thing asked about in the new home. That is why a separate technician is planned for it, and the number of units is agreed before moving day.

  • Split unit: the gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit, then the pipes are disconnected and their openings sealed until fitting.
  • Window unit: taken out of its opening and carried upright on its base.
  • Fridge and freezer: emptied and unplugged a day before, and left to stand for hours after arrival before being switched on.
  • Washing machine: the transit bolts that hold the drum are fitted, and the water in the hoses is drained.
  • Screens: in the original carton or a padded box, upright and never flat.
  • Cooker and gas cylinder: the cooker is disconnected by a technician, and the cylinder is not loaded with the furniture.

Moving offices and shops

Moving a business differs from moving a home in one important respect: every day of stoppage is a loss. The plan is therefore built so that the office closes in the evening at its old site and opens at the new one with the shortest possible break. Each department is moved under its own numbers, so every employee finds their desk, files and computer in place.

Files travel in sealed, numbered cartons signed for by the firm’s officer. Computers and servers are disconnected by the firm’s own technicians or in their presence. Shops have their shelving and fronts dismantled, and their stock is moved against an inventory. The price of moving offices and shops is set on request after a survey. Our services for businesses are on the commercial shipping page.

Moving cars between cities along with the furniture

Many of those who move between two cities fly with their families, which leaves the car behind. Driving it a thousand kilometres after days of moving fatigue is not the best option. The answer is a car carrier that takes the car from your home or from a collection point and hands it over in your new city.

The car is photographed at collection and any remarks are recorded in a report. It is then driven onto the carrier and tied down by its four wheels. Moving a car between Jeddah and Riyadh starts from SAR 830 on a shared carrier, and the prices of other routes are set on request. Details are in the article car shipping company in Jeddah and on the car shipping page.

Storing furniture between two homes

The date of leaving the old home does not always match the date of receiving the new one. A contract ends at the close of the month and the house is not handed over for weeks, or a renovation is unfinished, or there is a long trip between two jobs. In such cases the furniture is taken to a closed warehouse and stays packed and numbered until you ask for it.

In Jeddah a small space starts from SAR 185 a month, and the furniture of a flat from SAR 600. In other cities the charge is set on request. The storage period and its terms are written in the booking confirmation. Details are in the article furniture storage company in Jeddah and on the storage page.

What is particular to each region of the Kingdom

The Kingdom’s climate and terrain differ from region to region in ways that affect the move itself. What suits a flat in a level district of Riyadh is not enough for a house on a slope in Makkah or in the Asir highlands. This is what we allow for in each region:

Region What marks it Its effect on the move
Central: Riyadh and Qassim Intense summer heat, dust and long distances Work in the early morning or evening, and tightly sealed cartons
West coast: Jeddah and Yanbu High humidity most of the year Packing that keeps damp off wood and mattresses, and no storage in the open
Makkah and Madinah The seasons of Ramadan and Hajj, and districts on slopes Earlier booking, small vehicles, and confirming the hours for movement
Eastern: Dammam, Khobar and Al-Ahsa Gulf humidity and summer heat Protecting appliances, and running the air conditioners first in the new home
South: Abha, Al-Baha and Jazan Mountain roads, fog and rain Stronger strapping of the load, a tight cover and a time margin for the road
North: Tabuk, Hail and Al-Jouf Distance from the large cities and a cold winter Usually a dedicated truck, and early booking

Responsibility for the furniture and insuring it

Many people ask about “moving with a guarantee”. In practice it means that the crew is responsible for what it dismantles, packs and carries, and that this is written, not verbal. The terms for compensation and for changing or cancelling the date are stated in the booking confirmation that reaches you before moving day, so read them and ask about anything unclear.

The basis of any claim is the list. The pieces and their condition are recorded in it before loading, with photos of anything that has an old scratch. At unloading the pieces are checked against it before signing. Cartons the owner sealed personally are recorded as sealed. For valuable furniture, antiques and paintings, optional insurance is offered on request, based on the declared value. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.

Moving furniture from Saudi Arabia abroad by land and sea

Anyone leaving the Kingdom for good or relocating with work to another country needs international shipping, not a local move. The method follows the destination: neighbouring countries are served by closed trucks through the land borders, and distant ones by containers from Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. The packing here is stronger and comes with the packing list that customs require.

Destination Main method Example starting price
The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman Closed truck through the land border A carton from SAR 140, and a bedroom from Riyadh to Kuwait from SAR 920
Jordan Closed truck through the Haditha crossing A bedroom from SAR 1,650
Turkey and North Africa Full or shared sea container A cubic metre from SAR 415
Europe, the UK and the USA Sea container, and air for urgent items Shared sea freight to Europe from SAR 5,500

Details are in the article international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia; for Riyadh residents, international furniture moving company from Riyadh; and for Jeddah residents, international furniture moving in Jeddah. The truck method is on the land freight page and containers on the sea freight page.

Air freight for furniture and belongings from Saudi airports to destinations abroad

Air freight for furniture and belongings from Saudi airports to destinations abroad

An aircraft is not a way to move a whole home; its per-kilogram charge makes a wardrobe or a sofa very costly. But it is the answer when time is the problem. The family’s suitcases that go ahead of them to the new country, work papers, computers, and a valuable piece that should not sit a month in a container all travel by air and arrive within days.

Shipments leave from three main airports: King Khalid International in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah and King Fahd International in Dammam. We collect from the home, pack and complete the export paperwork, and the shipment is handed over at the arrival airport or at the door where that service is available. Charging is by chargeable weight, the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight.

Destination Price starts from Usual time
The Gulf states SAR 14 per kilogram 1–3 days
Europe SAR 23 per kilogram 3–6 days
The UK SAR 26 per kilogram 3–6 days
North and West Africa SAR 28 per kilogram 3–8 days
The United States SAR 41 per kilogram 5–8 days

The common solution is to split the shipment: furniture by land or sea, and urgent items by air. Work out the weight with the volumetric weight calculator; the service is explained on the air freight page and in the article air freight from Saudi Arabia.

Booking steps with Home Safe

  1. Get in touch: call or message us on 0552803439, giving the two cities, the two districts and the date you prefer.
  2. Listing: send photos of the rooms or the list, or ask for a survey of a villa or an office.
  3. The price: you receive a figure stating what it covers: dismantling, packing, the truck and assembly.
  4. Booking confirmation: the day and hour are fixed, and the terms reach you in writing.
  5. Preparation: you sort out what is not moving, and keep papers, gold and medicines with you.
  6. Moving day: the crew dismantles, packs, numbers and loads, and you sign the list of pieces.
  7. The road: we tell you when the truck leaves and when it is expected to arrive.
  8. Delivery: unloading, assembly and arranging, then checking the list and signing.

Following the trip on moving day and after

In a move inside a city you are with the crew from start to finish. Between cities, however, the truck is out of your sight for hours or days, so you have a booking number and one person in charge to contact. They tell you when the truck leaves the city, when it nears the arrival city, and the hour at which it is expected to stop at your door.

If something changes on your side, such as a delay in receiving the key, tell us before the truck sets off, not after. Changing the date before loading is easy; after it, it means waiting or temporary storage. International shipments are followed from the shipment tracking page.

A preparation checklist before moving day

  • Two weeks before: book the date, and inform the management of both buildings of the moving day.
  • One week before: donate or sell what you do not want, and use up the food in the freezer.
  • Three days before: wash the curtains and carpets if you wish, so they enter the new home clean.
  • One day before: unplug the fridge, empty the washing machine and charge the phones.
  • Put passports, title deeds, gold and medicines in a bag that stays with you.
  • Prepare a first-night carton: bedding, towels, cups and chargers.
  • Make sure electricity and water are connected at the new home before the truck arrives.
  • Keep children away from the work area on loading day for their safety.

How do you choose a reliable furniture mover?

There are many names in every city, and the adverts look alike. The shortest way is to start by asking people you know who have moved recently, then read others’ experiences of the name recommended to you. Do not rely on one opinion; the picture becomes clear from the sum of opinions. Then call more than one provider, put the same questions to all of them, and compare the answers with this table:

Question Good sign Sign for caution
How is the move priced? After photos or a survey, with named items An instant figure with no question about the furniture
How is the furniture packed? Materials stated for each category, and numbered cartons “We cover it with a blanket and that is enough”
How many workers will come? A number that suits the size of the home, with a carpenter A vague answer, or one worker for a whole flat
Does the price include assembly? Unloading and assembly are stated in the price A sum is asked for assembly at the door
What type of vehicle? A closed truck of a size that suits the furniture An open vehicle for a long road
What if something breaks? Written terms and a list of the pieces’ condition A verbal promise with no paper
Who is the provider? An establishment with a commercial registration and a clear name A mobile number with no establishment name

Do not make price alone the basis of the decision. The cheapest on the phone may become the dearest once you count what it left out, or what broke on the road. And when the move is over, thank the crew if they did well, and share your experience so that others benefit from it.

Questions to ask before you agree

Four questions spare you many surprises on moving day. Put them directly, and ask for the answers to be written in the confirmation message:

  • How will my belongings be packed? Ask about the materials, who brings them, and whether cartons are within the price.
  • Does the agreement include unloading and assembly in the new home? Some offers end at the door of the building.
  • How many workers will you send, and when do they start? A small crew is the first cause of delay.
  • What about valuable and fragile pieces? Set them aside and point them out, so they are packed individually and loaded with care.

Common mistakes when moving furniture

  • Booking one day ahead at the end of the month, then accepting whichever crew is available.
  • Hiding part of the furniture at pricing, so the truck is too small on loading day.
  • Filling the wardrobe with clothes and carrying it as it is, so its base comes apart.
  • Leaving the air conditioners to the last minute with no technician, so the pipe joints break.
  • Putting gold and official papers in a carton among the cartons.
  • Signing for receipt before counting the pieces and checking the list.
  • Moving furniture into a home whose painting or cleaning is unfinished.

Frequently asked questions about a furniture moving company in Saudi Arabia

What does a furniture moving company in Saudi Arabia provide?

One chain of four links: listing and pricing the furniture, dismantling and packing it in the old home, carrying it in a closed truck, then unloading, assembling and arranging it in the new home. Where needed, extra services are added, such as removing and refitting air conditioners, temporary storage, moving the car on a carrier, and shipping whatever is going outside the Kingdom.

How much does a furniture move inside a city cost?

A room or a few pieces starts from SAR 460, a two- to three-room flat from SAR 550, a large flat or a full floor from SAR 920, a four- to five-room flat with full packing from SAR 1,380, and a villa from SAR 2,150. The final figure follows the number of pieces, the floor, whether there is a lift, and how much dismantling and assembly is required.

How much does it cost to move furniture between two cities?

It is set on request, because the charge is built on the volume of the furniture in cubic metres, on the distance between the two cities, and on your choice of a dedicated truck or a space in a shared one. Send photos of the rooms or a list of the pieces with the names of both cities to 0552803439, and you will receive one figure covering dismantling, packing, the road and assembly.

How long does moving furniture from one city to another take?

By dedicated truck the furniture arrives the same day or the next between Riyadh and Dammam or Riyadh and Qassim, in 1 to 2 days between Jeddah and Riyadh, and in 2 to 3 days between Jeddah and Dammam. A shared truck adds one to three days until its load is complete. A day of dismantling and packing is added for a large home.

Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and desks are taken down to their parts, and the screws of each piece are collected in a bag carrying its number. In the new home they are rebuilt in the rooms you specify. Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275, and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640 when they are ordered separately from the move.

How are children’s rooms and toys packed?

The bed and the small wardrobe are dismantled and wrapped in blankets and then in stretch film. Toys are gathered in cartons by type: small parts in sealed bags inside the carton, and large toys wrapped individually. Each carton carries the child’s name or room number so that it is opened first in the new home, and the little one finds their things on the first night.

What is the difference between a dedicated and a shared truck for furniture?

A dedicated truck is booked for your furniture alone: it is loaded at your door, leaves the same day and unloads at your other door. A shared truck carries your furniture with that of others heading to the same city, so you pay only for the space you occupy and wait until it fills. A whole home deserves a dedicated truck; one or two rooms are cheaper shared.

Does Home Safe have branches in every Saudi city?

The establishment is based in Jeddah, with commercial registration 4030601060. Moves in other cities are arranged by advance booking: the crew and the truck are scheduled for the date you choose. That is why we advise booking enough days ahead, especially at the end of the month and during holidays, so that the moving day is confirmed rather than merely possible.

Do you move air conditioners and electrical appliances?

Yes. A split unit is removed by a technician who pumps the gas into the outdoor unit before disconnecting the pipes, and it is fitted in the new home with piping that suits the wall. The fridge is unplugged a day before the move and carried upright, the washing machine drum is secured, and the screen travels in a padded box. The charge for removing and refitting an air conditioner is shown separately in the price.

Do you move the car along with the furniture?

Yes, but on a different vehicle. The furniture travels in a closed truck and the car on a car carrier, where it is secured by its wheels. Moving a car between Jeddah and Riyadh starts from SAR 830 on a shared carrier, and the other routes are set on request. We arrange both appointments together so that the car arrives close to the arrival of the furniture.

What if a piece is damaged during the move?

The crew is responsible for what it dismantles, packs and carries with its own hands, under the terms written in the booking confirmation. For that reason the condition of the pieces is recorded in a list before loading and reviewed at unloading before signing. Cargo insurance is optional and offered on request for valuable furniture and antiques, based on the value you declare in the list.

Can the furniture be stored until I receive the new home?

Yes. The furniture stays packed and numbered in a closed warehouse until you ask for it. In Jeddah a small space starts from SAR 185 a month and the furniture of a flat from SAR 600. In other cities the charge is set on request according to quantity and duration. The furniture is delivered from the warehouse to the home against the same list it came in with.

When should I book the moving date?

One to two weeks ahead for a move between cities, and three to five days ahead for a move inside a city. The busy days are well known: the end and the start of the month when tenancy contracts expire, the start of the school year, and the summer holiday. In Makkah and Madinah, add the seasons of Ramadan and Hajj, when the hours for movement become tighter.

Do you move furniture outside Saudi Arabia?

Yes, and it is the core of our work. Furniture travels by land in closed trucks to the Gulf states and Jordan, by sea in containers to the other destinations, and urgent pieces and luggage by air from the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram to the Gulf, from SAR 23 to Europe and from SAR 41 to the United States.

How do I get a price without a visit?

Photograph each room twice from two angles, open the wardrobes in a third photo, and send them by WhatsApp to 0552803439 with the district name in both cities, the floor number and whether the building has a lift. That is enough to price an ordinary flat. A villa, a large office and furniture that includes antiques or very heavy pieces are priced after an on-site survey.
