Who ships from Madinah to Jordan, and what do they ship?

Many Jordanians in Madinah work in education, health, engineering and trade, and some have lived there for long years. Jordanian visitors also come to it by road, by coach or in their own cars, because the road from Amman to Madinah is shorter than the road to any other major city in the Kingdom. So three kinds of shipment dominate this route: the home of a family that has finished work and gone back, luggage, gifts and dates sent by a resident or a visitor, and a trader’s goods. Each has a method that suits the size of the shipment and its date:

Shipper What they ship Best method
A Jordanian family returning on final exit A whole home’s furniture and appliances A full truck under one exemption file
A teacher or doctor moving alone A bedroom, cartons and suitcases Shared load
A resident sending to family Cartons, appliances, gifts and dates By the carton, by land
A visitor or Umrah pilgrim Extra suitcases and purchases from Madinah’s markets Collection from the hotel, then land or air
A dates and foodstuffs trader Ajwa, Safawi and Sukkari by the carton and pallet A pallet or a full truck before Ramadan
A car owner A recent car to be registered in Jordan Car carrier
Companies and government bodies Office furniture, equipment and files A dedicated truck on a set date

Route and transit time from Madinah to Jordan

The truck leaves Madinah northwards on the Tabuk road, passes Khaybar and then Tayma, and reaches Tabuk after about 680 km. From Tabuk about 100 km remain to the Halat Ammar border post, which stands on the old Levantine pilgrimage road. After the Jordanian Mudawwara post the truck runs along the Desert Highway for about 322 km to Amman, passing Ma’an. The whole road is paved, and the border is reached in a single day’s driving, which is what keeps the time short for the distance.

Stage Approximate distance Usual time
Dismantling, packing and loading in Madinah — Half a day to a day
Madinah → Tabuk About 680 km through Khaybar and Tayma 8–9 hours
Tabuk → Halat Ammar border post About 100 km An hour to an hour and a half
Halat Ammar and Mudawwara — Hours to a day
Mudawwara → Amman About 322 km through Ma’an 4–5 hours
Unloading and assembly — Half a day to a day
Method Door-to-door time Suits
Full truck 2–4 days A whole home’s furniture and goods
Shared load 4–6 days A room, cartons and a few pallets
Car carrier 3–5 days Cars
Cartons and suitcases by land 4–6 days Residents’ belongings and visitors’ luggage
Air from Madinah airport One to 3 days Documents, parcels and urgent dates

Two days is the shortest possible time: a full truck loaded in the morning, with its file ready, crossing the border on a quiet day and delivering in Ma’an or Amman the next day. Most shipments take three to four days.

What lengthens the time?

  • Hajj and Umrah seasons: Halat Ammar is the crossing for pilgrims arriving by road, so its yards fill with coaches in Ramadan and before and after Hajj.
  • Summer: the season when expatriates return raises demand for trucks and lengthens the wait.
  • Waiting for consolidation: a shared load does not move until the truck is full.
  • Truck entry hours: loading from central Madinah is limited to hours set by the traffic department.

Shipping prices from Madinah to Jordan

The price is worked out by the full truck for someone shipping a home, by the space the shipment takes for someone shipping a room or cartons, and by the kilogram in air freight. The figures below are our starting prices from the door in Madinah to the consignee’s door in Amman. Where we have set no figure the price is set on request, because the volume varies widely from one shipment to another:

What you ship Method Price starts from
A carton of personal items or dates Land freight SAR 140
A suitcase Land freight SAR 230
A personal-effects shipment (cartons, suitcases and a few pieces) Shared load SAR 1,650
A small flat’s furniture Truck SAR 3,700
A large flat’s furniture Truck SAR 6,000
A villa’s furniture A full truck or more Set on request after a survey
A saloon car Car carrier by land SAR 2,300
A four-wheel-drive or luxury car Dedicated or enclosed carrier Set on request
A pallet of dates or goods Shared load Set on request by weight
A 20-foot container to Aqaba Sea from Jeddah port SAR 4,600
Air freight From Madinah or Jeddah airport SAR 14 per kilogram
Documents Express SAR 83

Prices quoted in the market for shipping to Jordan: a carton of belongings between SAR 100 and 250, clothes and belongings by weight between SAR 10 and 20 per kilogram, an electrical appliance such as a television between SAR 150 and 300, and a large screen in a wooden crate between SAR 400 and 700. Living-room furniture runs between SAR 600 and 1,100, a bedroom between SAR 1,000 and 2,000, a room of furniture with dismantling and assembly between SAR 1,800 and 2,800, a flat’s furniture between SAR 4,000 and 6,500, and a villa between SAR 8,500 and 14,000. A family car by land runs between SAR 2,800 and 5,000, heavy equipment and goods between SAR 1,000 and 5,000 depending on volume, and a pallet of goods between SAR 600 and 900. So use our table as a point of comparison for any figure you are given, and always ask what it covers.

What sets the price Its effect
Volume The first factor. Work it out with the volume calculator
Full truck or shared The full truck is faster and dearer, and in a shared load you pay for your space only
Delivery city Ma’an and Aqaba are nearer the border, Amman is farther, and Irbid is the farthest
Dismantling, packing and assembly Items listed in the offer, not added after it
Exterior hoist Added when the lift or the stairs cannot take the large pieces
Season Summer, the weeks before Ramadan and the Hajj seasons see higher demand

How do you lower the cost?

  • Choose a shared load if your shipment is a room or less and your date is not pressing.
  • Leave new items out of your furniture shipment, because the duty and tax on them can come to more than what you save on the price gap between the two countries.
  • Sell what is heavy and cheap in Madinah, and buy its like in Amman or Irbid.
  • Book outside the Hajj season and three weeks before summer if you can.
  • Clear photos of every item you intend to ship let us estimate accurately, and that avoids the price changing when loading day comes.

All the factors are explained on the shipping pricing factors page.

What sets shipping from Madinah to Jordan apart?

Madinah is the nearest major city in the west of the Kingdom to Jordan. It lies about 420 km ahead of Jeddah on the same road, and farther still ahead of Makkah. In practice this means the truck reaches the border in a single day’s driving, and the time is roughly a day shorter than shipping from the coast. It also means that trucks heading up from Jeddah and Makkah to Tabuk pass through Madinah, so Madinah’s shipments join them and a shared load does not wait long.

Particular Its effect How we handle it
Nearness to the border A single day’s driving to Halat Ammar Loading in the morning, and reaching the border the same night or at dawn the next day
Trucks from Jeddah and Makkah pass through Madinah Frequent consolidation trips We add your shipment to the next trip heading up to Tabuk
Regulated truck entry to the centre Loading at set hours We fix the appointment in advance, and confirm the hours in force before loading day
Hotels of the central area No place for a truck to stand or for long packing A small vehicle collects suitcases and cartons from reception
An international airport in the city The air shipment leaves from its own city The shipment is handed in at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport, or rerouted through Jeddah when there is no flight that suits it
Dates Food cargo affected by heat Ventilated cartons and pallets, and loading late at night or early in the morning in summer

Shipping home and office furniture from Madinah to Jordan

Furniture shipping from Madinah to Jordan

Between your home in Madinah and your home in Jordan lie 1,100 km, mostly desert road, with a border post along the way where the inspector may ask for some pieces to be taken off the truck and put back, and steps and slopes in Amman or Irbid at the end. Wrapping meant for a local move does not stand up to all that. So our crew comes to the home or office, dismantles the furniture and packs it where it stands, then loads it into a closed truck, and our team in Jordan assembles it on arrival.

Many buildings in Madinah are flats on upper floors with a small passenger lift and a narrow staircase. A large sofa, a six-door wardrobe and a marble slab will not go down that way safely. In that case we lower the pieces by an exterior hoist from the balcony or the window: the wrapped piece is strapped to the hoist platform and comes down straight to the truck. We inspect the entrance and the width of the street before loading day to know whether the hoist is needed.

  • Survey: done from photos or on a visit, so that we can gauge the volume and tell you if a shared load will do or the job calls for a full truck.
  • Dismantling and numbering: bedroom sets, wardrobes and kitchen units come apart panel by panel, every panel gets a number, and its screws travel in a bag fixed to it.
  • Office furniture: every desk, meeting table, metal cabinet and box of files carries the number of its department and room, so the assembly team in Jordan finds where each piece belongs without asking.
  • Packing: blankets and corrugated cardboard for wood, tightly sealed wrap for sofas and mattresses, and wooden crates for glass and marble. The methods are in the packing guide, and securing on the packing and lashing page.
  • Air conditioners: removed by pumping the gas down into the outdoor unit, with the openings sealed.
  • Inventory: each carton and piece goes on a numbered list under the owner’s name exactly as the passport gives it, and this is the list handed to Jordanian customs.
  • Loading: heavy pieces at the front of the truck and on its floor, secured with ratchet straps, and then the truck is sealed.
  • Assembly in Jordan: each piece is carried to the room it belongs in by our team, who put the bedrooms and wardrobes back together and clear away the packing waste.

If your home in Jordan is not ready yet, we store your furniture packed and inventoried until you set the date. Details of the service are on the furniture shipping page, of storage on the storage page, and of delivery on the door-to-door shipping page.

Full truck or shared load?

Before price and date you have to choose between the two trucks, because that choice settles three things at once: what you pay, when your shipment arrives, and how customs treats it. Take the whole truck and it leaves Madinah on the very day it is loaded, and its doors open at Halat Ammar only once, in your name alone. Share it and your shipment stays until other people’s shipments fill the truck, each of them with a separate customs file. That said, the wait from Madinah is usually short, since trucks from the coast pass through it on their way north.

Comparison Shared load Full truck
You pay for Your shipment’s space only The whole truck
Time 4–6 days 2–4 days
Departure After the truck fills On loading day
Customs Several files in one truck One file in your name
Best for A room, cartons, a few appliances A whole home, and a returnee’s exemption file

Someone going back to Jordan and claiming the exemption for his furniture is better protected by a full truck: a single contents list goes before the inspector, the inspection is not repeated, and his shipment is not held up by a gap in another shipper’s papers. The service is explained on the land freight page.

Shipping parcels, suitcases and visitors’ luggage

Not everyone who ships has a home to move. A resident sends cartons of clothes and gifts to family in Irbid before Eid, a student sends books, and a visitor buys more in Madinah’s markets than the suitcase allowance on the plane or the space on the coach will take. These small shipments join the frequent land trips, or fly if they are urgent.

  • Carton: double-walled, from SAR 140, and no more than 30 kg.
  • Suitcase: from SAR 230, wrapped and numbered.
  • Collection from the hotel: a small vehicle takes the suitcases and cartons from reception, against a receipt showing the number of pieces and their weight.
  • Delivery: at the consignee’s door, which requires the full four-part name, national number and a Jordanian mobile number.
  • Notifications: a message on collection, on crossing the border, and before delivery.
  • What must not go in them: cash, gold, medicines without a prescription and loose batteries. Zamzam water is not shipped.

A parcel has no fixed weight limit: what is light and urgent goes by air, and anything beyond that goes by land by the carton or by space. Details are on the parcel shipping page.

Shipping electrical appliances and heavy and light equipment

Appliances fall into two kinds in shipping. The light and delicate, such as a screen or a computer, is harmed by long vibration rather than by a single drop. The heavy, such as a two-door fridge, a steel safe, commercial kitchen equipment and medical devices, is harmed during lifting and lowering. The first needs foam and a crate, and the second needs loading equipment and fixing to the truck floor.

Device How it is shipped What it needs
Screens In the original carton or a foam-lined wooden crate, upright A carrying-direction label
Computers and printers Foam on every side in a double carton A backup of your data before shipping
Large household appliances Emptied, dried and with parts secured A check of the 50/60 Hz frequency label
Restaurant and factory equipment On pallets or wooden bases, by forklift An invoice and a customs code for each item
Medical devices In their cases with moving parts secured Approval from the competent Jordanian authority before shipping
New devices in their boxes Like the rest An invoice, because they are valued and pay duty and tax

The voltage is the same in both countries, 230 volts, and the only difference is the frequency: 60 Hz in Saudi Arabia and 50 Hz in Jordan, and modern appliances are for the most part built for both. The socket, though, is not of one type in Jordanian homes, and a simple adaptor settles it where it differs. On delivery the device gets a visual check with the consignee present. Large-dimension equipment has its own page, heavy equipment shipping.

Shipping dates and commercial goods from Madinah to Jordan

Shipping dates and goods from Madinah to Jordan

The Madinah region is the Kingdom’s third-largest producer of dates, and its central date market sells Ajwa, Safawi and Sukkari to visitors and traders. Jordanian demand for these varieties rises before Ramadan, so traders book their trips weeks ahead of it. Saudi Arabia and Jordan are both members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, so goods of Saudi origin benefit from customs exemption with an authenticated certificate of origin.

Dates are an agricultural food, so in Jordan they carry papers that furniture does not. A commercial quantity needs a health certificate from the competent Saudi authority along with the certificate of origin, and the Jordanian importer obtains whatever the Ministry of Agriculture there requires before loading. What has been announced in Jordan is that imports of some varieties are restricted to protect local production, Medjool among them. So we confirm the permitted variety and the documents in force with the importer before the pallet moves.

Goods How they are shipped What they need
Dates by the carton for family and gifts In the shared load, away from heavy items A description of the contents and the consignee’s name and address
Commercial dates by the pallet Strapped pallets, loaded late at night in summer An invoice, certificate of origin, health certificate and a label with production and expiry dates
Dry foodstuffs By the pallet or by the truck A health certificate, and inspection by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration on entry
Prayer beads, carpets and ihram clothing By the carton or pallet An invoice and packing list
Perfumes and incense By land, with the type and quantity declared Restricted in air freight
Building materials and industrial products A flatbed or closed truck depending on the item An invoice, certificate of origin and customs code
  • Certificate of origin: authenticated by the chamber of commerce, and without it the duty is charged in full.
  • Sales tax: 16% in Jordan on most items, paid at clearance even with exemption from duty.
  • Regular trips: for a trader who supplies every week or every month we fix a loading day and a price by contract.
  • Distribution: delivery at the importer’s warehouse or straight to the points of sale, with a report on the state of each shipment.

Details are on the commercial shipping page.

Car shipping from Madinah to Jordan

Lifting the car onto the carrier in Madinah takes no more than a quarter of an hour, and all the difficulty lies at the other end. Jordan registers an imported car only if it meets its conditions on age, condition and specifications. That is why we start with one question that comes ahead of any talk of price and date: what year was it made? If it falls outside the rule it will not be cleared for the road in Jordan even in excellent condition, and it comes back to you at a second fare on top of the outbound one.

Condition The rule in force
Age of a passenger car No more than 5 years from the year of manufacture
Electric car No more than 3 years old
Damaged cars Cars classed as damaged or flooded in the country of origin may not enter
Steering side Left-hand drive, as with cars in the Kingdom
Inspection At the Zarqa Free Zone before clearance
Tax Differs between petrol, hybrid and electric, and is charged on a value assessed by customs
  • Price: a saloon car on a carrier by land from SAR 2,300. The price for four-wheel-drives and luxury cars is set on request.
  • Inspection before shipping: we photograph the car all round and inside, note the odometer reading, and the driver signs a report on its condition.
  • Securing: by the tyres, not the body. A luxury car goes in an enclosed carrier with insurance at its value.
  • Export: the traffic department issues an export certificate once the fines are settled and the plates handed in. If the car is financed, a no-objection letter is needed too.
  • Temporary visit: a Saudi car driven in for a visit is not exported at all. See the triptik page for how the carnet works.

Because Jordan’s car tax rates have been amended several times, we do not rely on an old figure, and ask the clearing agent for the rate in force before your car is loaded. For the general conditions see the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia, and for the service the car shipping page.

The Halat Ammar border post, the Mudawwara post and Jordanian customs

Every shipment passes two clearances: Saudi export at Halat Ammar, and Jordanian import at Mudawwara. The border is near Madinah compared with other cities, but a missing paper holds the truck in the yard however short the road. So we prepare the file before the truck moves, and send a copy to our clearing agent at both posts. A returnee’s furniture may be cleared at Mudawwara or transferred to Amman customs, depending on the file. A load bound straight for Aqaba enters through the Durra post, 11 km north of Haql. The Haditha post is the route for traffic from Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and does not serve a shipment from Madinah.

Item The rule in force at Jordanian customs
A returning Jordanian’s furniture Exempt if he lived outside Jordan for a year or more and the furniture is used
Arrival deadline Within six months of the date of return
Repeat exemption Restricted, so anyone who has used it before has his position checked before shipping
A non-Jordanian moving to live there By status and residence, and we confirm the position with the clearing agent
New items in their boxes Duty by item and 16% sales tax
Duplicate appliances One of each appliance, and duplicates are treated as goods
Presence of the owner The owner or an agent at clearance
Type of shipment Documents
A returnee’s furniture and effects A detailed contents list, the passport in which the end of the residence permit shows, proof that work in the Kingdom has ended or a Jordanian job contract, and a title deed or lease for the home in Jordan
Cartons and gifts for family The sender’s ID, the consignee’s name, national number and mobile, and a list of contents with values
Commercial dates and foodstuffs An invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, health certificate, and the importer’s registration and card
Other commercial goods An invoice, packing list, authenticated certificate of origin, and the importer’s registration and card
A car The registration, export certificate, the owner’s ID, and proof of the year of manufacture and specification

The place to go through these conditions is your home in Madinah before loading, not the yard at the border. If the furniture reaches Mudawwara and a condition turns out there to be unmet, the exemption falls away and all the duty is paid. The documents are set out on the required documents page, and the clearance steps on the customs clearance page.

What cannot be shipped to Jordan or needs permission

A single carton holding a banned item is enough to turn the truck’s inspection at the border from a routine look into a full search that delays the whole load. The items that cause this are few, and the rest of a home’s contents pass without trouble. So take them out from among your belongings before packing begins, and if you hesitate over an item, ask us about it.

Item Ruling
Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them Prohibited
Narcotics and psychotropic substances Prohibited
Flammable materials and gases Prohibited in general freight
Zamzam water Not shipped, and the traveller has only the dedicated pack
Medicines Personal quantities with a prescription, and commercial with a permit
Wireless devices and drones With prior permission
Dates and foodstuffs Personal quantities, and commercial with a health certificate and whatever the Jordanian authorities require
Printed matter and discs in quantity Subject to review
Counterfeits Confiscated
Cash, gold and original documents Not shipped with furniture, they stay with you

The general list is on the prohibited items page.

Delivery in Irbid, Amman and the Jordanian governorates

Delivering shipments from Madinah in Irbid

Jordan has twelve governorates, and a truck entering from Mudawwara climbs from south to north: Ma’an first, then Karak and Tafilah to the left of the Desert Highway, then Madaba and Amman, then Zarqa, then Irbid in the far north. So the southern cities are nearer for delivery on this route than on the Riyadh route. Irbid, Jordan’s second-largest city, is the destination of many returning families’ shipments and cartons for relatives. The truck reaches it about an hour and a half after Amman. The distances below are approximate from the Mudawwara post:

City Approximate distance from Mudawwara Delivery note
Ma’an About 120 km The first city after the border, with delivery on the day of crossing
Aqaba About 230 km through Ma’an, or directly from the Durra post It has its own customs regime
Karak and Tafilah 200–260 km On two branches off the Desert Highway
Madaba About 300 km Before Amman on the road
Amman About 322 km Hills and steps, and a smaller vehicle for some districts
Zarqa and Salt About 350 km On the Amman day or the next
Jerash, Ajloun and Mafraq 370–400 km Mountain roads to Jerash and Ajloun, and daytime delivery
Irbid About 410 km Mostly the day after Amman, and its districts are mainly blocks without a goods lift

In Amman and Irbid a good many homes are built on a slope and reached by an outside staircase, and the old districts have streets too narrow for a large truck. People there describe an address by the name of the area and street and the building number, and usually add the nearest roundabout or well-known landmark. So at booking we ask you for four things: the floor number, the type of entrance, the width of the street, and a Jordanian mobile number for the consignee. Once unloading is done our team assembles the furniture and takes the packing waste away. The destination has a full page, shipping to Jordan.

Shipping for individuals, companies and government bodies

What we do for a shipment does not change: packing, transport, clearance and delivery. What changes is what its owner asks for. A family wants its furniture intact and a fixed price that does not rise on loading day. A company wants a date that does not stop its work. An official body wants a documented procedure and confidentiality about what is moved. In all three cases one person takes charge of the shipment from the hour of collection in Madinah to the hour of delivery in Jordan:

Customer What matters to them What we provide
Individuals and families Safe furniture and the exemption file A review of the papers before shipping, dismantling, packing and assembly, and an itemised price
Residents and visitors A fair price for a small amount Shipping by the carton and suitcase, collection from the hotel, and delivery at the consignee’s door
Companies and traders The date and the documents A dedicated truck, tax invoices, a certificate of origin, and regular trips by contract
Government bodies and institutions Official procedure and confidentiality Letters, a collection and delivery record, and sealed packing for files and sensitive equipment

Several payment methods are available to suit individuals and companies, and companies receive a tax invoice. After delivery we call to make sure everything is in its place, and deal with any remark noted in the record.

Is there sea freight from Madinah to Jordan?

Madinah is an inland city with no port, and Jordan has no outlet to the sea other than Aqaba on the Red Sea. For anyone wanting sea freight, the container is first moved about 420 km by road to Jeddah Islamic Port, then spends two to 4 days at sea, and is then moved about 330 km from Aqaba to Amman. With these three legs the door-to-door time runs past ten days, whereas a truck by land arrives in two to 6. That leaves sea freight from Madinah a place only for equipment and heavy commercial containers. The price of a 20-foot container from Jeddah port to Aqaba starts from SAR 4,600, while the charge for getting it from Madinah to the port is set on request. For a comparison of the methods see the shipping methods comparison page, and for the sea route the article international sea freight from Jeddah.

Air freight from Madinah to Jordan

Air freight from Madinah to Jordan

There are direct flights between Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and Queen Alia International Airport, and the flight takes about two hours. We collect the shipment from your door and hand it over at the airport, and it reaches the consignee in one to 3 days including clearance at both airports. If no flight suits the size of the shipment or its date, we divert it to King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah. Air on this route is for what is light and urgent: a document for a transaction, a sample for a customer, or cartons of dates their owner wants before an occasion.

  • For whom: documents, urgent parcels, commercial samples, small electronics, cartons of dates, and the suitcase of a visitor in a hurry.
  • Calculation: air freight is billed on the actual weight or the volumetric one, whichever comes out greater. Check yours with the volumetric weight calculator.
  • Price: air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
  • Clearance: at Queen Alia Airport, then delivery to the address in Amman or the governorates.
  • When land is better: for furniture and large volumes, as land arrives in a few days at a far lower cost.
  • What does not fly: perfumes in quantity, loose batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids.

You can also split one shipment between the two: what is urgent flies, and everything else follows by road. The air freight page has the details.

Collection from Madinah’s districts and governorates

We pack and load at your site, in any district of Madinah: Aziziyah, Difa, King Fahd, Salam, Aqool, Shuran, Quba, Awali and Khalidiyah. The road to Jordan passes Khaybar, Tayma and Tabuk, so shipments from these towns are loaded on the way with no change of route. Anything lying off the direction of the road is collected before departure day:

Place Distance from Madinah Note
Hotels of the central area Inside the city Suitcases and cartons collected from reception by a small vehicle
Khaybar About 170 km On the Tabuk road itself, so loaded on the way
Al-Ula 300–400 km depending on the road Joins the trip at Khaybar or Tayma
Tayma About 420 km On the same road
Tabuk About 680 km The last stop before the border
Yanbu and Badr 150–220 km to the west Collected before departure day and consolidated in Madinah

  1. Contact: you send what you are shipping with photos, your district in Madinah and your city in Jordan.
  2. Exemption review: you tell us how long you have been resident and what papers you hold, and we tell you which items are exempt and which count as goods.
  3. Itemised price: it reaches you by item: dismantling, packing, transport, clearance and assembly, and the hoist if needed.
  4. Booking: we fix the loading day and its permitted hour, and ask for copies of the passport and documents.
  5. Packing and loading: at your home, with a numbered list of contents and photos, and then the truck is sealed.
  6. Export clearance: at the Halat Ammar border post.
  7. Jordanian clearance: at the Mudawwara post or at Amman customs.
  8. Delivery: to the address, with unloading and assembly if you ask for it.

Shipment tracking and insurance

The trip is short, but its owner wants to know where the shipment has got to on each day of it. So we do not wait to be asked. From the moment of loading you have one person in charge whose name and number you know, who tells you at every stage: leaving Madinah, reaching Tabuk, entering Halat Ammar, finishing clearance at Mudawwara, and the time of arrival at your door.

  • Tracking: the shipment number brings up an update for each stage, and a message goes out when the truck reaches the border. See the track your shipment page.
  • Documentation: photos of every piece before packing and after loading.
  • Insurance: yours to take or leave, with a premium that is a percentage of the value you yourself declare. We think it worthwhile when the shipment includes a car or appliances. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.
  • On receipt: go down the numbered list piece by piece, and note anything amiss in the delivery record before you sign it.

Shipping from Jordan to Madinah

The same service is available in the opposite direction, from Jordan to Madinah. Our team there collects from your home in Irbid, Zarqa or Amman, the shipment is cleared at Mudawwara and then at Halat Ammar, and it is delivered to your address in Madinah whatever the district. Anyone moving to live in the Kingdom brings in used furniture and effects on a contents list together with a work visa or a valid residence permit. A trader’s goods of Jordanian origin need an authenticated certificate of origin.

Tips before shipping from Madinah to Jordan

  • Go through the exemption papers with us before you set the loading day, not after.
  • Have the shipment arrive after you do, as a returnee’s file needs you present in Jordan.
  • Avoid the peak days of Hajj and Umrah at the border if your date is flexible.
  • Set aside what you will carry yourself: passports, certificates, contracts, gold and medicines.
  • Measure the stairs and the entrance at both homes before shipping large sofas and wardrobes, and tell us if a hoist is needed.
  • Write the list in detail: “used 55-inch screen”, not “appliances”.
  • Buy gift dates in their sealed cartons, and state their weight and variety in the list.

How do you choose a shipping company from Madinah to Jordan?

On the surface, one offer on this route looks much like another. A handful of questions asked before you pay any deposit bring out the difference:

What you ask about Reassuring sign Warning sign
Time Two to 6 days depending on the method “Within 24 hours” for a home’s furniture
Price Itemised after the volume and city are known An instant figure with no questions, or a large discount with no reason
Exemption Reviews your papers before shipping “Everything is exempt”
Border post Names the crossing and explains why it was chosen Does not know the difference between Halat Ammar and Haditha
Car Asks about the year of manufacture first Loads and then leaves clearance to you
Registration A commercial registration and a receipt A mobile number only

Common mistakes when shipping to Jordan

  • Shipping a car older than the permitted age.
  • New or duplicate appliances among a returnee’s furniture.
  • Travelling without proof of the previous residence and its ending.
  • Delaying the shipment until the six-month deadline has passed.
  • Shipping a commercial quantity of dates without its certificates as though it were a gift.
  • Overlooking the stairs and the lift at both addresses until loading day.
  • Choosing the cheapest figure without asking what it covers.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Madinah to Jordan

How much does shipping from Madinah to Jordan cost?

The cost depends on what you ship: a saloon car on a land carrier starts from SAR 2,300, a large flat’s furniture from SAR 6,000, a small flat’s from SAR 3,700, a personal-effects shipment from SAR 1,650, a suitcase from SAR 230, and a carton from SAR 140. The final figure is settled once we know the volume of your shipment and the Jordanian city it is delivered in. To enquire: 0552803439.

How long does shipping from Madinah to Jordan take?

Air is the fastest, arriving in one to 3 days. A full truck needs 2 to 4 days, and a shared load 4 to 6 days. All of these times are door to door: they start at your home in Madinah and end with the consignee in Jordan.

How far is Madinah from Amman by road?

About 1,100 km: about 680 km from Madinah to Tabuk through Khaybar and Tayma, then about 100 km to the Halat Ammar border post, then about 322 km from the Mudawwara post to Amman through Ma’an.

Which border post does the truck enter Jordan through?

From the Halat Ammar post north of Tabuk to the Mudawwara border post in Ma’an governorate, the nearest one for traffic from Madinah. A load bound straight for Aqaba enters through the Durra post on the coast. Haditha is the route for traffic from Riyadh and the Eastern Province.

Is Madinah closer to Jordan than Jeddah and Makkah?

Yes. It is the nearest major city in the west of the Kingdom to Jordan, and lies about 420 km ahead of Jeddah on the same road. That shortens the time by roughly a day, and trucks heading up from Jeddah and Makkah pass through it, so shared-load trips are frequent.

Is customs paid on used furniture in Jordan?

That depends on the owner and the condition of the goods. Used furniture and effects belonging to a Jordanian who has come back after at least a year living abroad are exempt on conditions, one of them being that no more than six months have passed since his return when the shipment arrives. New pieces still in their boxes carry duty along with 16% sales tax. That is why we check your papers in Madinah before loading.

Do you ship dates from Madinah to Jordan?

Yes. Cartons for individuals join the shared load, and commercial quantities go by the pallet or by the truck. Commercial loads need an invoice, a certificate of origin, a health certificate, and whatever the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture requires of the importer. We confirm what applies before loading.

Do you ship cars from Madinah to Jordan?

Yes. The car is loaded onto a carrier that crosses the Halat Ammar border post, and the price for a saloon starts from SAR 2,300. But Jordan requires, under the rule in force, that a passenger car is not classed as damaged and that its age counted from the year of manufacture does not exceed 5 years, a limit that drops to 3 years if it is electric. We verify the current condition before we load it.

How much is air freight from Madinah to Amman?

Air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and documents sent express from SAR 83. Shipments depart from Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, or from Jeddah airport if there is no suitable flight, and delivery takes one to 3 days.

Do you collect visitors’ luggage from hotels in Madinah?

Yes. A small vehicle collects suitcases and cartons from the hotel reception in the central area, and they join the next land trip. A suitcase starts from SAR 230 and a carton from SAR 140. Zamzam water is not shipped.

Do you lower furniture from upper floors?

Yes. If the lift or the stairs cannot take a large piece, we lower it by an exterior hoist from the balcony or the window, after inspecting the entrance and the street. It appears as an item in the price before loading day.

Do you ship to Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba?

Yes, and to the rest of Jordan’s governorates. In the south we deliver in Aqaba, Ma’an, Tafilah and Karak, in the centre in Madaba, Amman, Salt and Zarqa, and in the north in Mafraq, Jerash, Ajloun and Irbid. The shipment comes to the address itself, where it is unloaded and assembled.

What cannot be shipped to Jordan?

Four things are banned outright: narcotics, weapons and anything resembling them, flammable materials, and counterfeit goods. Other items enter on a condition: drones and wireless devices need prior permission, medicines are accepted in a personal quantity along with their prescription, and commercial foodstuffs do not pass without their certificates.

Do you ship for companies and government bodies?

Yes. A company or public body gets a truck to itself that moves on the agreed date, and delivery is made inside its premises in Jordan. We handle all the paperwork: the official letters, the invoices, the certificate of origin, and a record documenting collection in Madinah and delivery there.

Do you ship from Jordan to Madinah?

Yes, as the road and the crossing are the same going and coming. We take the shipment from the sender’s address in Jordan, complete its clearance at Mudawwara and then Halat Ammar, and bring it to the district you live in in Madinah.
