Who ships from Makkah to Jordan, and what do they ship?
This route has two kinds of customer that no other city brings together. The first is the Jordanian resident of Makkah: a teacher, doctor, engineer or shop owner who has finished work and is going back with his whole home. The second is the Jordanian Umrah or Hajj pilgrim who came for a few days and returns with more bags than he brought. Between them are a trader sending goods and a car owner who wants to register his car there. Each has a method that suits the size of the shipment and the date of travel:
| Shipper | What they ship | Most suitable method |
|---|---|---|
| A Jordanian family returning on a final exit | A whole home’s furniture and appliances | A full truck with a single exemption file |
| The Umrah or Hajj pilgrim | Suitcases and cartons of gifts and dates | By the suitcase and carton in a shared load |
| An Umrah or Hajj group | The whole group’s luggage | One shipment by the cubic metre, distributed to the addresses |
| A resident sending to family | Cartons, appliances and gifts | Shared load |
| The trader and shop owner | Dates, prayer rugs, clothing and supplies | A pallet or a full truck with a certificate of origin |
| The car owner | A recent car for registration in Jordan | Car carrier |
Route and transit time from Makkah to Jordan
The truck leaves Makkah on the Hijrah Highway to Madinah, which is roughly a third of the way. From Madinah it heads north to Tabuk through Khaybar and Tayma, the longest stage. From Tabuk about 110 km remain to the Halat Ammar border post on the old Syrian pilgrimage road. After the Jordanian Mudawwara post the truck passes Ma’an, then climbs the Desert Highway to Amman. Because the road runs through Madinah and Tabuk, shipments from both cities join the same trip.
| Stage | Approximate distance | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Dismantling, packing and loading in Makkah | — | One day |
| Makkah → Madinah | About 450 km on the Hijrah Highway | 5–6 hours |
| Madinah → Tabuk | About 680 km through Khaybar and Tayma | 8–9 hours |
| Tabuk → Halat Ammar border post | About 110 km | An hour and a half |
| Halat Ammar and Mudawwara | — | Hours to a day |
| Mudawwara → Amman | About 320 km through Ma’an | 4–5 hours |
| Unloading and assembly | — | Half a day to a day |
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck | 3–5 days | A whole home’s furniture and goods |
| Shared load | 5–7 days | A room, cartons and pilgrims’ suitcases |
| Car carrier | 4–6 days | Cars |
| Sea from Jeddah port to Aqaba | 8–14 days | Commercial containers and equipment |
| Air via Jeddah airport | One to 3 days | Documents, parcels and urgent luggage |
What lengthens the time?
- Hajj and the end of Ramadan: truck restrictions inside Makkah delay the loading day, and pilgrim coaches crowd the Halat Ammar post.
- Summer: the season when expatriates return lengthens the wait at both posts.
- Waiting for consolidation: a shared load does not move until the truck is full.
- A vague list: the words “household items” mean a full manual inspection at Mudawwara.
- New items among used ones: they halt the exemption file until they are valued and their duty is paid.
Halat Ammar or Durra: which border post serves your city in Jordan?
Saudi Arabia and Jordan share three land crossings, and two of them serve traffic from Makkah and the west coast. The first is Halat Ammar north of Tabuk, facing Mudawwara in Ma’an Governorate, the truck route to Ma’an, Amman and northern Jordan. The second is Durra on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, 11 km north of Haql, with Aqaba immediately beyond it at about 20 km. So anyone who says Aqaba is the first city after the border means the Durra road. A truck entering through Mudawwara meets Ma’an first, and Aqaba lies about 115 km south of it.
| Saudi post | Jordanian counterpart | First city after it | When it is used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Halat Ammar, about 110 km north of Tabuk | Mudawwara, about 320 km from Amman | Ma’an, about 100 km | Shipments for Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Ma’an and Karak; the route of most of our trucks from Makkah |
| Durra, 11 km north of Haql | The Durra post south of Aqaba | Aqaba, about 20 km | A shipment that ends in Aqaba itself, on the coastal road through Duba and Haql |
| Haditha, north of Qurayyat | Omari, about 155 km from Amman | Azraq then Zarqa | Traffic from Riyadh, Qassim and the Eastern Province; not the Makkah route |
We settle the border post before loading, according to the delivery city and the type of shipment. A shipment for Aqaba enters through Durra when it is available for the type of truck and cargo; otherwise it enters through Mudawwara and comes down from Ma’an. We confirm the post in force for your shipment before the loading day.
Shipping prices from Makkah to Jordan
The price follows how much of the truck your shipment takes. Someone shipping a whole home pays for a truck that moves on his day, and someone shipping two suitcases or a room pays for his space only. A pilgrim is charged by the suitcase and carton, a trader by the pallet or truck, and air freight by the kilogram. These are the starting prices of our services from Makkah to Amman:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| A carton of personal effects or gifts | Land freight | SAR 140 |
| A suitcase | Land freight | SAR 230 |
| A shipment of personal effects | Shared load | SAR 1,650 |
| A small flat’s furniture | Truck | SAR 3,700 |
| A large flat’s furniture | Truck | SAR 6,000 |
| A villa’s furniture | Full truck | Set on request |
| A whole group’s luggage | By the cubic metre | Set on request |
| A saloon car | Car carrier by land | SAR 2,300 |
| A luxury or sports car | Enclosed carrier | Set on request |
| A pallet or truck of commercial goods | Shared or full | Set on request |
| A 20-foot container | Sea from Jeddah port to Aqaba | SAR 4,600 |
| Air freight | Via Jeddah airport | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Documents | Express | SAR 83 |
Prices quoted in the market for this route: small parcels up to 2 kg between SAR 40 and 80 by land and between SAR 50 and 120 by air, and parcels of 5 to 10 kg between SAR 120 and 250 by land and between SAR 150 and 300 by air. A small parcel by courier is offered at about SAR 60 on the economy service and about SAR 130 on the express one. Part loads of furniture run between SAR 400 and 1,500 and above, and a car by land between SAR 3,000 and 6,000. Most companies publish no price for this route and settle for a discount percentage. So use the table as a point of comparison for any figure you are given, and always ask what it includes.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Volume | The first factor. Work it out with the CBM calculator |
| Full truck or shared | A full truck is faster and dearer; in a shared one you pay for your space only |
| Delivery city | Ma’an and Aqaba are nearer the border post, Amman farther, and Irbid farthest |
| Loading site in Makkah | A hillside district and a narrow street need a small vehicle and more workers |
| Dismantling, packing and assembly | Items stated in the offer, not added after it |
| Season | Hajj, Ramadan and summer see higher demand |
How do you lower the cost?
- Choose a shared load if your shipment is a room or less and your date is not pressing.
- Combine the luggage of the group’s members in one shipment, since the cubic metre is cheaper than the single suitcase.
- Leave new purchases out of the furniture shipment; the duty and tax paid on them can come to more than what you save on the price gap between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
- Book two weeks before Ramadan and Hajj, or put it off until after them if you can.
- Photograph every piece you intend to ship clearly and send the pictures before booking; they pin the estimate down, so no gap in the price appears when the truck is loaded in Makkah.
All the factors are explained on the shipping pricing factors page.
What sets shipping from Makkah apart
Loading in Makkah is planned differently from other cities. Large trucks enter it at set hours, and the restrictions tighten in Ramadan and Hajj. Many of its districts sit on mountain slopes, with narrow, climbing streets that a long truck cannot reach. It has no airport and no port. And half of those who ship from it are hotel guests, not householders. A company that does not allow for all this promises a date it does not control. This is how we deal with each case:
| The situation in Makkah | Its effect | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Truck entry hours | No loading at just any time of day | We fix the appointment in the permitted hours and confirm those in force the day before |
| Hillside districts and narrow streets | The truck does not reach the door | A small vehicle carries the items to the nearest wide street |
| The Hajj season and the end of Ramadan | Tighter restrictions and crowding around the central area | We load before the season, or store the shipment until after it |
| Hotel accommodation | No room or time for lengthy packing | We collect suitcases and cartons ready from reception or from the group supervisor |
| No airport and no port | Air and sea freight leave from Jeddah | We move the shipment 80 km to King Abdulaziz Airport or Jeddah Islamic Port |
Shipping Umrah and Hajj pilgrims’ luggage from Makkah to Jordan

Most Jordanian Umrah pilgrims come by land in group coaches, entering through Mudawwara and Halat Ammar on the same road our truck takes. The coach carries one or two suitcases per passenger, and there is no room for more. The pilgrim goes home with prayer rugs, prayer beads, dates, abayas and gifts for family and neighbours. Those who came by plane are charged by the airline for every extra kilogram. The answer is to travel light and have your luggage follow you in a closed truck to your door.
- Collection from the group: we agree a time with the group supervisor and collect the group’s luggage at the coach park or in front of the accommodation, against a receipt showing the number of pieces.
- Collection from the hotel: it is enough to deposit your luggage with the hotel reception marked with your name and number, and our representative calls for it at the time we agreed.
- A numbered tag for every suitcase: it carries the owner’s name, number and city in Jordan, so the group members’ luggage does not get mixed up.
- Suitcase: from SAR 230, stretch-wrapped before loading.
- Carton: from SAR 140, double-walled, and we supply it to anyone without one.
- Delivery: in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa and the other governorates, within 5 to 7 days, so you find it a few days after you return.
- What does not go in: Zamzam water, cash, gold, passports, and medicines you need on the way.
Zamzam water is not shipped, since its export is limited to the dedicated pack a traveller carries in person.
Moving home and office furniture from Makkah to Jordan
Between your door in Makkah and your door in Jordan lie 1,550 km, and the furniture spends two days of them in the northern desert between Madinah and Tabuk. At customs some pieces may be taken down for inspection and lifted back, and in Amman steps and slopes await them. Packing meant for a move within Makkah from one district to another does not survive a journey like this. So our team handles the dismantling and packing at the home or office and the loading into a closed truck, and our team in Jordan handles the assembly.
- Survey: by photos or a visit, to estimate the volume and find out whether the truck can reach the door.
- Dismantling: we take apart bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchens and desks, number each part, and collect the screws in a bag stuck to the part it belongs to.
- Office furniture: desks, meeting tables, metal cabinets and files are numbered by department and room.
- Inventory: Jordanian customs receives a numbered list covering each piece and each carton, which we write in the shipment owner’s name exactly as it appears in the passport.
- Assembly: in Jordan our team carries the pieces to their rooms one at a time, puts the wardrobes and bedrooms back together, and does not leave before clearing away what is left of the packing.
Service details are on the furniture shipping page.
Heavy furniture and large pieces: dismantling and assembly by a specialist team
Some pieces need more than two workers and a blanket: an iron safe, a marble table, a six-door wardrobe, a fitness machine, a double-door refrigerator. These pieces are harder in Makkah than elsewhere, because many homes stand on a slope with narrow stairs. They are what gets damaged most on a long road, and what harms doors and walls most on the way down. So they have a team and equipment separate from the carton team.
- Equipment: carrying straps and lifting trolleys, boards on which the piece slides over the stairs, and if the staircase is too tight for it, it is lowered by a hoist from outside the building.
- Marble and glass: the slab is separated from its base and carried upright in a padded wooden crate.
- Large wardrobes: dismantled into panels, so no single piece is carried on stairs.
- Loading: heavy items at the front of the truck and on its floor, secured with ratchet straps to its walls.
Packing before departure from Makkah
Packing decides the state of the shipment on arrival more than anything else. A shipment on this route is loaded in Makkah, may be moved from a small vehicle to the truck, is partly opened at Mudawwara, and is then unloaded in Jordan. So every piece is handled at least four times. Each material has a job: the carton carries, the foam absorbs shock, the blanket prevents scratching, and the wood protects against pressure.
| Item | Packing material | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Painted wood and bedrooms | Blankets, then corrugated cardboard | Corners are protected with reinforced cardboard pieces |
| Sofas, mattresses and carpets | Fabric, then stretch film | Dried before packing, as trapped moisture leaves mould |
| Glass, mirrors and marble | Foam and a wooden crate | Carried upright, not flat |
| Crockery and ornaments | Paper and foam in a double-walled carton | The carton does not exceed 30 kg |
| Refrigerators and washing machines | Foam and reinforced cardboard | Emptied and dried a day before, with the washing machine drum secured |
Each carton bears a label giving its number, its room and which way up it is carried. For more detail, the packing guide explains the materials and how they are used, and the packing and lashing page explains how the load is secured in the truck.
Full truck or shared load?
Before price and date comes the choice between a truck to yourself and a space in a truck with others, and cost, arrival time and the shape of the clearance are all built on it. Book the whole truck and it leaves Makkah on the loading day itself and is opened at the border once, under a file bearing your name. Choose the shared one and your shipment travels with others gathered from Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah, so the truck does not move before it fills, and every file in it is cleared separately.
| Comparison | Shared load | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Your shipment’s space only | The whole truck |
| Time | 5–7 days | 3–5 days |
| Departure | Once the truck is full | Loading day |
| Customs | Several files in one truck | One file in your name |
| Best for | Suitcases, cartons, a room, a few appliances | A whole home, and a returnee’s exemption file |
For someone going home with his furniture and claiming the exemption, the full truck is the surer option, because it holds one list and one inspection and his file does not hang on another shipper’s papers. More is on the land freight page.
Shipping small and medium parcels from Makkah to Jordan
Many shipments on this route are no more than two or three cartons. A resident of Makkah sends clothes and gifts to his family in Irbid before Eid, a student sends his books home, and a shop owner gets a sample to his customer in Amman. We add these small and medium shipments to our trucks departing from Makkah and Jeddah, and the urgent ones go by plane. There is no need to carry them to any office, because our representative comes to where you are.
- Carton: double-walled from SAR 140, not exceeding 30 kg.
- Suitcase: from SAR 230, stretch-wrapped and numbered.
- Urgent parcel: by air via Jeddah airport from SAR 14 per kilogram, and documents from SAR 83.
- Collection: from your home, shop or hotel in Makkah, against a receipt showing the number of pieces and their weight.
- Delivery: at the consignee’s door in Jordan, for which we ask three details: the four-part name, the national number, and a Jordanian mobile.
Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping home and office electronics
The most valuable and most easily damaged things to go into a carton are the devices: a screen, a computer, a printer, a games console. They seldom fail from a sudden fall; what ruins them is continuous vibration over two days on the long road from Makkah to Tabuk. For that reason we pack them assuming they will be lifted and set down several times, mark on the box the direction in which it is carried, and strap large appliances to a pallet that keeps them from sliding.
| Device | How it is shipped | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Screens | In the original carton or a wooden crate with foam, upright | Nothing is placed on top of them |
| Computers and printers | Foam on every side in a double carton | A backup of your data before shipping |
| New devices in their boxes | Like the rest | An invoice, since they are assessed and pay duty and tax |
| Large household appliances | Emptied, dried and with parts secured | A check of the 50/60 Hz frequency label |
There is no difference in voltage between the two countries; both are on 230 volts. The difference is in frequency: 60 Hz in Saudi Arabia and 50 Hz in Jordan, and modern appliances are for the most part designed to work on either. Sockets in Jordan, however, come in more than one shape, and some of your devices may need a small adaptor.
Shipping commercial goods from Makkah to Jordan
Makkah’s trade with Jordan is mostly tied to the season: dates, prayer rugs, prayer beads, ihram clothing, abayas and gifts ordered by wholesalers in Amman and Irbid. With them go general goods from the warehouses of Makkah and Jeddah. The trader cares about two things: that the goods arrive by the supply date, and that he pays no avoidable duty. Saudi Arabia and Jordan are both members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, so goods of Saudi origin benefit from the customs exemption with an attested certificate of origin.
- Units: by the pallet in a shared load, or a full truck for larger quantities, with the price set on request according to volume.
- Truck types: general goods load into a closed truck, building materials and equipment onto a flatbed, and foodstuffs into a refrigerated one.
- Certificate of origin: attested by the chamber of commerce; without it the duty is charged in full.
- Sales tax: 16% in Jordan on most items, paid at clearance even with the duty exemption.
- Food and dates: with a health certificate and a shelf life long enough for the selling period, and inspected on entry.
Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Makkah to Jordan
In shipping a car from Makkah, the carrier is the lightest part of the job and clearance the heaviest. Lifting the car onto the carrier takes no more than a quarter of an hour, whereas registering it in Jordan hinges on three things: its age, its condition and its specifications. That is why our first question is about the year of manufacture, and talk of price and date comes afterwards. If the car falls short of the condition, it is not allowed to be cleared for the road there even in excellent condition, and its owner pays the fare out and the fare back.
| Condition | Rule in force |
|---|---|
| Age of a passenger car | No more than 5 years from the year of manufacture |
| Electric car | No more than 3 years old |
| Damaged cars | Cars classed as damaged or flooded in the country of origin may not enter |
| Steering side | Left-hand, like cars in the Kingdom; right-hand drive is banned |
| Inspection | Many cars are inspected at the Zarqa Free Zone and cleared from it |
| Tax | It differs between petrol, hybrid and electric, and is charged on a value assessed by customs |
- Price: a saloon car on a car carrier by land from SAR 2,300.
- Protection: it is secured by the tyres, not the body, the lamps and mirrors are covered, and any moving parts inside are fastened.
- Luxury and sports cars: an enclosed carrier that protects against dust and gravel, low-angle loading for a low-slung car, and insurance at value. Their price is set on request.
- Export: the traffic department issues the export certificate once the plates are surrendered and any fines on the car are settled. If it is financed, a no-objection letter is required.
- Temporary visit: a Saudi car that its owner drives into Jordan as a visitor needs no export. The carnet is described on the triptik page.
Because Jordan’s car import provisions and taxes have been amended several times, we go over what currently applies with the clearing agent before your car goes up onto the carrier. You will find the general conditions in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia, and the service details on the car shipping page.
The Halat Ammar border post, the Mudawwara post and Jordanian customs

Every shipment goes through two clearances: Saudi export at Halat Ammar and Jordanian import at Mudawwara. At Mudawwara the truck is opened and its contents are checked against the list. If the list is detailed and numbered, the inspection ends with a few cartons opened. If it is vague, the whole load is taken down. The post is about 1,240 km from Makkah, so a missing paper is not easily made good. That is why we prepare the file in Makkah before the truck moves and send a copy to our clearing agent at both posts.
| Item | Practice at Jordanian customs |
|---|---|
| A returning Jordanian’s furniture | Exempt if he lived outside Jordan for a year or more and the furniture is used |
| Arrival deadline | Within six months of the date of return |
| Repeat exemption | Restricted; anyone who has used it before has his case reviewed before shipping |
| A pilgrim’s luggage | Personal effects and gifts in non-commercial quantities; anything beyond is assessed |
| New items in their boxes | Duty according to the item and 16% sales tax |
| Duplicate appliances | One piece of each appliance; duplicates are treated as merchandise |
| Presence of the owner | He or his agent at the clearance of a returnee’s furniture |
| Type of shipment | Documents |
|---|---|
| A returnee’s furniture and effects | A detailed list of contents, a passport in which the end of the residence permit appears, along with a job contract in Jordan or proof that his work has ended, and a title deed or lease for a home in Jordan |
| Pilgrims’ suitcases and gift cartons | A copy of the owner’s passport, the consignee’s name, national number and mobile, and a list of contents with values |
| Commercial goods | An invoice, a packing list, an attested certificate of origin, and the importer’s registration and card |
| A car | The car’s registration card and its export certificate, the ID of its owner, and a document showing the manufacture year and the specification |
The place to go over these conditions is Makkah before loading, not the border after arrival. If it turns out at the frontier that a single condition is unmet, the owner of the furniture pays all the duty with no exemption. The required documents page sets out the papers, and the customs clearance page sets out the procedures.
What cannot be shipped to Jordan or needs permission
Nobody will question most of the contents of your home and bags; they cross without difficulty. The danger lies in a handful of items: it takes only one of them turning up in a carton for the check to cover the entire truck, holding up every other shipper with a load on board along with you. So take these items out before packing begins, and ask us about whatever you are not sure of.
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Zamzam water | Not shipped; its export is limited to the traveller’s pack |
| Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them | Prohibited |
| Narcotics and psychotropic substances | Prohibited |
| Flammable materials and gases | Prohibited in general freight |
| Medicines | Personal quantities with a prescription; commercial ones with a permit |
| Wireless devices and drones | With prior permission |
| Food and dates | Personal quantities; commercial ones with a health certificate |
| Counterfeits | Confiscated |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Not shipped with luggage; they stay with you |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Aqaba, Amman and the Jordanian governorates

Jordan has twelve governorates, and traffic from Makkah enters them from the south, unlike traffic from Riyadh. So the southern cities are nearer: Ma’an straight after Mudawwara, and Aqaba straight after the Durra post. From Ma’an the truck climbs the Desert Highway to Amman, and from there it branches to Zarqa, Irbid and the rest of the north. Aqaba is a special economic zone with its own customs regime, so the papers of anything delivered inside it are prepared accordingly. The following distances are approximate from the Mudawwara post:
| City | Approximate distance from Mudawwara | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Ma’an | About 100 km | The first city after Mudawwara, with delivery on the crossing day |
| Aqaba | About 215 km through Ma’an, or 20 km from the Durra post | A special zone with a separate customs regime |
| Tafilah and Karak | 200–270 km | West of the Desert Highway |
| Madaba | About 300 km | On the Amman day |
| Amman | About 320 km | Hills and steps, and a smaller vehicle for some districts |
| Zarqa and Salt | 340–350 km | On the Amman day or the next |
| Mafraq, Jerash and Ajloun | 370–400 km | Mountain roads in Jerash and Ajloun, and daytime delivery |
| Irbid | About 410 km | Usually the day after Amman |
At the consignee’s home our team puts each piece in its room, reassembles whatever was taken apart, then goes through the list numbers with you one by one. Because a great many houses in Amman are built on a slope and have an outside staircase, we need four things from you at booking: the floor, the kind of entrance, the width of the street, and a Jordanian mobile number. The shipping to Jordan page has the destination details.
Shipping for individuals, companies and government bodies
The transport itself does not change from one customer to the next; what changes is what is built around it. A family wants its furniture intact and a fixed price that does not rise on loading day. A group supervisor wants a hundred suitcases to arrive complete, not one short. A company cannot afford its work stopping. As for an official body or an embassy, their priority is sound procedure, documentation and privacy. On that basis we arrange for each category a preparation of its own:
| Customer | What matters to them | What we provide |
|---|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Safe furniture and the exemption file | A review of the papers before shipping, dismantling, packing and assembly, and an itemised price |
| Umrah and Hajj groups | That luggage is neither mixed up nor late | Collection by appointment with the supervisor, a numbered tag for every piece, and a schedule of the owners’ names |
| Companies and shops | The date and the documents | A dedicated truck, tax invoices, a certificate of origin, and regular trips under contract |
| Government bodies | Official procedure and documentation | Letters, a handover and delivery record, and sealed packing for files and equipment |
| Embassies and missions | Privacy and diplomatic exemptions | Coordination of the exemption documents through the embassy, and delivery inside the premises |
Is there sea freight from Makkah to Jordan?
Yes, but it is not the first choice. Makkah has no port, so the container is moved 80 km to Jeddah Islamic Port, then sails two to 4 days to Aqaba, Jordan’s only port. The door-to-door time is 8 to 14 days with loading, clearance and inland transport, followed by 330 km by road for anyone who wants it in Amman. So land freight is faster for furniture and luggage. Sea freight suits heavy commercial containers and equipment, and those whose goods end in Aqaba. A 20-foot container from Jeddah port to Aqaba starts from SAR 4,600. The full comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page, and the details of the line are in the article international sea freight from Jeddah.
Air freight from Makkah to Jordan

Makkah has no airport, so air freight from it leaves from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, about 80 km away. We collect the shipment from where you are in Makkah and move it to the airport the same day. From there direct flights go to Queen Alia International Airport south of Amman, and the flight is about two hours. The shipment is delivered in one to 3 days with clearance at both airports. On a land route that takes at least three days, air becomes a real option for everything light and urgent.
- For whom: documents, urgent parcels, commercial samples, and the suitcase of a pilgrim who wants his luggage before he arrives.
- Charging: on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Work it out with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83.
- Clearance: at Queen Alia Airport, then delivery to the address in Amman or the governorates.
- What does not fly: perfumes in quantity, loose batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids.
You are not obliged to pick a single method: you can split your shipment, so what you need quickly flies and the truck carries what remains. More is on the air freight page and in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
Collection from Makkah’s districts, storage and final delivery
Our responsibility begins at your door in Makkah and does not end before the consignee’s door: we collect from where you are, store if necessary, then transport, clear and deliver to the address. The packing and loading team reaches all of Makkah’s districts, among them Aziziyah, Shawqiyah, Awali, Naseem, Sharaie, Batha Quraysh, Zahir and Rusayfah. Neighbouring cities are covered by collection too, and their shipments ride the same trip:
| Place | Distance from Makkah | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hotels of the central area | Inside Makkah | Suitcases and cartons collected from reception |
| Group coach parks | The outskirts of Makkah | The group’s luggage collected by appointment with the supervisor |
| Jumum and Bahrah | 20–40 km | Collected on the same day as Makkah |
| Jeddah | About 80 km | The two shipments join one trip |
| Taif | About 90 km | Collected before loading day |
| Madinah | About 450 km | On the truck’s road, so it is loaded as the truck passes |
Storage has three usual cases on this route: a home in Jordan that is not yet fully ready, a final exit that falls before the shipping day, and a Hajj season that sets in before loading. In any of them your shipment stays in our warehouse, packed and inventoried, until you yourself choose the date it moves. More is on the storage page and the door-to-door shipping page.
Steps for shipping from Makkah to Jordan
- Contact: you start with a message containing photos and a description of your shipment, the name of the district or hotel where you are staying in Makkah, and the Jordanian city where you want delivery.
- Paper review: we ask about your status and length of residence, and tell you what is exempt and what is treated as merchandise.
- Itemised price: it reaches you by item: dismantling, packing, transport, clearance and assembly.
- Booking: we fix the loading day and its permitted hour, and ask for copies of the passport and documents.
- Packing and loading: at your site, with a numbered list of contents and photos, then the truck is sealed.
- Export clearance: at the Halat Ammar border post.
- Jordanian clearance: at the Mudawwara post, or at Durra for an Aqaba shipment.
- Delivery: to the address, with unloading, assembly and a check against the list.
Shipment tracking and insurance
Three days on the road is long enough for the owner of a shipment to be entitled to ask. So we do not wait for him to ask. Every shipment has a tracking number, and from the moment of loading you have one contact whose name and number you know. He informs you at each stage: leaving Makkah, passing Madinah and then Tabuk, reaching Halat Ammar, finishing clearance at Mudawwara, and the time of arrival at your door.
- Tracking: the shipment number is all you need to know where it is; we update its status with every stage and message you when the truck reaches the border. It is explained on the track your shipment page.
- Documentation: photos of every piece before packing, of a car from every side with the odometer reading, and of the loaded truck before it is closed.
- Insurance: it is not compulsory, its premium is a percentage of the value you declare, and we advise it above all for anyone shipping a car or appliances. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.
- On receipt: do not sign the delivery record before going over the pieces by the list numbers, and if you have a remark, write it there first.
Shipping from Jordan to Makkah
The same service is available in the opposite direction, from Jordan to Makkah. Our team in Jordan collects from the address in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa or Aqaba, clearance takes place at Mudawwara and then Halat Ammar, and delivery is to the district you live in in Makkah within truck entry hours. Anyone moving to live in the Kingdom brings in his furniture and used effects on a work visa or valid residence permit with a list of contents, and goods of Jordanian origin need an attested certificate of origin.
Tips before shipping from Makkah to Jordan
- Estimate the volume and weight of your shipment with photos before booking; a short estimate shows up as a difference on loading day.
- Go through the exemption papers with us before you set the loading day, not after.
- Book two weeks before Ramadan and Hajj, since truck hours in Makkah narrow in both.
- Write the list in detail and with values: “used 55-inch screen”, not “appliances”.
- Set aside what you will carry yourself: passports, certificates, contracts, gold, medicines and the Zamzam pack.
- Have the shipment arrive after you do, since a returnee’s file needs you present in Jordan.
How do you choose a shipping company from Mecca to Jordan?
Anyone looking for a shipper on this route finds plenty of offers that are hard to tell apart at first glance, and most of them talk about a discount percentage while staying silent on the price. What separates them is a handful of questions you put before paying any deposit:
| What you ask about | Reassuring sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Time | 3 to 7 days depending on the method | “Within 24 hours” for a home’s furniture |
| Price | Itemised after the volume and city are known | An instant figure with no questions, or a large discount for no reason |
| Loading in Makkah | Asks about the district and street width and sets a permitted hour | “We will come at any time” |
| Exemption | Reviews your papers before shipping | “Everything is exempt” |
| Delivery | To the address with assembly | Collection from a yard in Amman |
| Registration | A commercial registration and a receipt | A mobile number only |

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Makkah to Jordan
How much does shipping from Makkah to Jordan cost?
A carton starts from SAR 140, a suitcase from SAR 230, a shipment of personal effects from SAR 1,650, a small flat’s furniture from SAR 3,700, a large flat’s furniture from SAR 6,000, and a saloon car by land from SAR 2,300. The final price follows the volume and the delivery city. Call 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Makkah to Jordan take?
The time runs from the door of your home or hotel in Makkah until the consignee’s door in Jordan and varies by method: a full truck takes 3 to 5 days, a shared load 5 to 7 days, and air freight via Jeddah airport one to 3 days.
How far is Makkah from Amman by road?
About 1,550 km: about 450 km from Makkah to Madinah, then about 680 km to Tabuk, then about 110 km to the Halat Ammar border post, then about 320 km from the Mudawwara post to Amman through Ma’an.
Which border post does a truck from Makkah enter Jordan through?
From the Halat Ammar post north of Tabuk to the Jordanian Mudawwara post in Ma’an Governorate, which is the route for trucks bound for Ma’an, Amman and the north. A shipment for Aqaba may enter through the coastal Durra post north of Haql, which makes Aqaba the first city after the border.
Do you ship the luggage of Jordanian Umrah and Hajj pilgrims?
Yes. We collect suitcases and cartons from the hotel, from the group supervisor or at the coach park, put a numbered tag with the owner’s name on each piece, and deliver them to his home in Amman, Irbid or elsewhere. A suitcase from SAR 230 and a carton from SAR 140.
Can Zamzam water be shipped from Makkah to Jordan?
We do not ship it, either among luggage or among goods, because exporting Zamzam water is restricted. What is allowed is the dedicated travel pack, which the traveller carries himself.
Is customs paid on used furniture in Jordan?
Used furniture and effects are exempted on conditions when their owner is a returning Jordanian who has lived outside Jordan for a year or more; one condition is that the shipment arrives within six months of his return. New pieces still in their boxes, though, carry duty plus 16% sales tax.
What documents are needed to ship from Makkah to Jordan?
What is required differs with the shipment. A returnee with his furniture presents a detailed list of contents, a passport in which the end of the residence permit appears, a job contract in Jordan or proof that his work has ended, and a title deed or lease there. Cartons need only the sender’s ID with the consignee’s name, mobile and national number. Commercial goods require an invoice, a certificate of origin and a packing list.
Do you ship cars from Makkah to Jordan?
Yes, they travel by land on a car carrier, and a saloon car starts from SAR 2,300. The practice in Jordan is that a passenger car is accepted if it is no older than 5 years from the year of manufacture, an electric one no older than 3 years, provided it is not classed as damaged. We check what currently applies before we ship.
Do you deliver in Aqaba?
Yes. A shipment for Aqaba enters through the coastal Durra post about 20 km from the city, or through Mudawwara and then Ma’an, about 215 km. Aqaba has its own customs regime as a special economic zone, so we prepare its papers accordingly.
How much is air freight from Makkah to Amman?
It starts from SAR 14 per kilogram, and express documents from SAR 83. Makkah has no airport, so the shipment is moved to King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, flown to Queen Alia International Airport, and delivered in one to 3 days.
Is shipping affected by the Hajj season and Ramadan?
Yes, in two ways: truck entry into Makkah is restricted during Ramadan and Hajj, and requests to ship luggage multiply in both. The safest course is for your booking to precede the season by two weeks. If the season catches up with you, we load in the permitted hours, or the shipment stays in storage until it is over.
Will my electrical appliances work in Jordan?
Mostly yes. The two countries share 230 volts and differ in frequency: 50 Hz in Jordan against 60 in Saudi Arabia. A modern appliance that carries the 50/60 mark works there as it does here. Take care with older washing machines and air conditioners; read the label before shipping, and allow for a plug adaptor.
Do you ship for companies, government bodies and embassies?
Yes. These clients get a dedicated truck that moves on an agreed date and a complete file that we draw up ourselves: invoices, a certificate of origin, letters and a delivery record. Delivery is made inside the client’s premises in Jordan.
Do you ship from Jordan to Makkah?
Yes, through the same crossing and in reverse order: our team collects the shipment from your address in Jordan, it is cleared at Mudawwara and then Halat Ammar, and it reaches the district you name in Makkah within truck entry hours.
