Who ships from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, and what do they ship?
Six groups keep this route moving, and the largest is Jordanian families living in the Kingdom. Jordanians are among its biggest Arab communities, spread across Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah and Tabuk, and those who finish their work go home with the whole household. After them come residents sending things to relatives, then Jordanian visitors and Umrah pilgrims, then traders and factories, then car owners, then official bodies. The table shows what suits each group:
| Shipper | What they ship | Most suitable method |
|---|---|---|
| A Jordanian family ending its residence | The contents of a whole home and its appliances | A full truck in the name of the head of the family |
| A resident sending to relatives | Cartons of clothes and gifts, and an appliance or two | Consolidated freight by the carton or by weight |
| A Jordanian pilgrim or visitor | Excess suitcases, purchases and dates | By the suitcase overland, or by air if in a hurry |
| A Saudi trader or factory | Dates, foodstuffs, plastics and building materials | Pallets, a 6-metre truck, a trailer or a refrigerated truck |
| A car owner | A recent car to be registered in Jordan | An open or enclosed car carrier |
| A company, government body or embassy | Office furniture, devices, equipment and files | A dedicated truck with a set date and a handover record |
Shipping methods from Saudi Arabia to Jordan and the time each takes
Shipping to Jordan is by land first, because the two countries are neighbours with a border of more than 700 km and three crossings open to trucks. The truck is loaded at the door of the home or warehouse and is not unloaded until the consignee’s address, so there is no port on the way and no reloading. Air completes land freight for whatever is light and short of time. Sea goes to Aqaba port only, and suits nothing but heavy containers. These times are door to door:
| Method | Approximate time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck | 2–4 days | A whole home, or goods that fill a truck |
| Shared load | 4–7 days | A room, cartons, a few pallets |
| Car carrier | 3–5 days | Recent cars that meet Jordan’s conditions |
| Refrigerated truck | 2–4 days | Dates, food and medicines at a controlled temperature |
| Air | 1–3 days | Documents, parcels, samples and spare parts |
| Sea to Aqaba | 8–14 days | Commercial containers and heavy equipment from the west coast |
The overland time is not driving alone. A day of packing and loading comes before the road, hours at the two posts fall in the middle, and unloading and assembly follow. This is how it usually divides:
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Survey and booking | Photos or a visit, then an itemised price and a date | Usually the day you call |
| Dismantling, packing and loading | At your home or warehouse, with a numbered list | Half a day to a day |
| The road inside the Kingdom | From your city to the crossing that suits it | Hours from Tabuk, and one to two days from distant cities |
| The Saudi crossing and the Jordanian post | Export, then import and inspection | Hours to a day |
| The road inside Jordan | From the border post to the consignee’s city | Two to 5 hours |
| Unloading and assembly | Taking the pieces to their rooms and reassembling what was dismantled | Half a day to a day |
What lengthens the time?
- The return season: in summer and after the school year ends, returnees’ trucks multiply and the inspection queues at the Jordanian posts grow.
- Filling the shared truck: a consolidation run does not leave half empty.
- A vague line on the list: an entry such as “miscellaneous items” leads the inspector to open the cartons one by one.
- New pieces that were not declared: they are separated from the file and valued, and the truck stays until what is due on them is paid.
- The owner arriving late: a returnee’s exemption is not completed without him or his agent.
Anyone wanting to weigh truck against plane and container in figures can open the shipping methods comparison page, while the transit times page shows how long freight takes to Jordan’s neighbours.
Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
The price is built on three things: the loading city, the volume you ship, and the governorate of delivery. Small shipments are charged by the carton and the suitcase, furniture by its space in the truck, goods by the pallet or the truck, and air by the kilogram. The figures below are the lowest our services start from among the Kingdom’s cities, and a table after them breaks them down by city:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Carton of personal belongings | Consolidated land freight | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase | Consolidated land freight | SAR 230 |
| Personal belongings by weight | Land freight | SAR 9.2 per kilogram |
| Screen of 55 inches or larger | By land in a protective crate | SAR 370 |
| Sofa set or seating set | Shared load | SAR 740 |
| A room of furniture or a personal-effects shipment | Shared load | SAR 1,650 |
| Small flat’s furniture | Truck | SAR 3,700 |
| Large flat’s furniture | Truck | SAR 6,000 |
| Villa furniture | Full truck | SAR 7,800 |
| Saloon car | Shared carrier | SAR 1,290 |
| Four-wheel-drive car | Dedicated carrier | SAR 2,020 |
| Pallet of goods | Shared load | SAR 550 |
| 6-metre truck | Commercial goods | SAR 3,220 |
| 15-metre trailer | Commercial goods | SAR 5,980 |
| 20ft container to Aqaba | By sea from Jeddah port | SAR 4,600 |
| Air freight | To Queen Alia Airport | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Documents | Express | SAR 83 |
| Refrigerated freight, and urgent freight with priority loading | Refrigerated truck or dedicated run | Set on request according to space and date |
The prices in circulation in the market for shipping to Jordan are mostly higher than that: a carton of belongings between SAR 150 and 250, a parcel of up to 30 kg from about SAR 200, belongings by weight between SAR 10 and 15 a kilogram, an electronic device of up to 50 kg between SAR 350 and 500, a large screen between SAR 400 and 700, and a sofa set between SAR 800 and 1,500. A bedroom is offered from SAR 1,200 without dismantling and assembly, and with them between SAR 1,800 and 2,800. A flat’s furniture runs between SAR 2,000 and 6,500, and a villa between SAR 8,500 and 14,000. A saloon car is between SAR 1,200 and 1,900 on a shared carrier, reaching SAR 3,500 to 7,000 in other offers, and a four-wheel-drive between SAR 2,200 and 3,500. A pallet is from SAR 600, a 6-metre truck from SAR 3,500, a trailer from SAR 6,500, refrigerated freight from SAR 800, and urgent service adds 15% to 30% to the basic price. A small parcel by express courier is between about SAR 60 and 130.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Loading city | Tabuk and Al-Jouf are nearest the border, and Dammam, Abha and Jazan are the farthest from it |
| Volume | Measured in cubic metres. Work it out with the CBM calculator |
| Full or shared | A full truck moves on your day and is priced whole; a shared one is priced by your space |
| Governorate of delivery | Amman and Zarqa are on the road, Irbid and Ajloun are farther north, and Aqaba has its own crossing |
| Services around the transport | Dismantling, packing, assembly, storage and insurance, each a written line |
| Difficulty of the address | A high floor with no lift, a sloping street, an external hoist |
| Season and urgency | Summer costs more, and a dedicated urgent run costs more than a scheduled one |
How do you lower the cost?
- Ship with a scheduled run rather than an urgent one, if your date can bear a few days.
- Put your cartons and those of acquaintances travelling to the same city in a single order.
- Take new appliances out of a returnee’s shipment; their tax eats what you saved on the price difference.
- Get rid of large, cheap pieces before you travel; the fare for their space in the truck can exceed their value.
- Confirm your booking weeks before the summer holiday, when demand for trucks rises.
The pricing items are explained on the pricing factors page.
Shipping to Jordan from the cities of the Kingdom
We collect from every city in the Kingdom, and what changes from one city to another is the crossing, the distance and the time. Cities of the centre, east and north head up to Haditha near Qurayyat. Cities of the west and south head up to Halat Ammar north of Tabuk. Anything bound for Aqaba takes the coast road to Durra. The distances in the table are approximate as far as Amman, with the detailed article for each city that has one:
| Collection city | Usual crossing | Approximate distance to Amman | Time by land | Airport for air freight | Detailed article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | Haditha via Qassim, Hail and Al-Jouf | About 1,450 km | 3–7 days | King Khalid International | Shipping company from Riyadh to Jordan |
| Jeddah | Halat Ammar via Tabuk | About 1,300 km | 3–7 days | King Abdulaziz International | Shipping from Jeddah to Jordan |
| Makkah | Halat Ammar via Madinah and Tabuk | About 1,550 km | 3–7 days | Via Jeddah airport | Shipping company from Mecca to Jordan |
| Madinah | Halat Ammar via Khaybar, Tayma and Tabuk | About 1,100 km | 2–6 days | Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz, or Jeddah | Shipping company from Madinah to Jordan |
| Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | Haditha via Hafr al-Batin, Arar and Turaif | About 1,600 km | 4–7 days | King Fahd International | International shipping company in Dammam |
| Qassim: Buraydah and Unaizah | Haditha via Hail | About 1,100 km | 3–6 days | Via Riyadh airport | Loaded with the Riyadh runs |
| Hail | Haditha via Al-Jouf | About 800 km | 2–5 days | Via Riyadh airport | On the route of the central region’s trucks |
| Tabuk | Halat Ammar, or Durra for Aqaba | About 420 km | 2–4 days | Via Jeddah or Madinah airport | The nearest major city to the border |
| Al-Jouf, Qurayyat and Arar | Haditha | 190–600 km | 2–4 days | Via Riyadh airport | The crossing is 36 km from Qurayyat |
| Taif | Halat Ammar | About 1,550 km | 3–7 days | Via Jeddah airport | Served with the Jeddah and Makkah runs |
| Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan | Halat Ammar via Jeddah | More than 2,000 km | 4–8 days | Via Jeddah airport | Moved to Jeddah, then added to its run |
Prices likewise differ by city on some items and match on others. The carton, the suitcase and air freight cost the same from the four cities we have covered in detail, and a car is cheaper from Riyadh because it has more shared carriers running to Haditha:
| What you ship | From Riyadh | From Jeddah | From Makkah | From Madinah |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carton | SAR 140 | SAR 140 | SAR 140 | SAR 140 |
| Suitcase | SAR 230 | SAR 230 | SAR 230 | SAR 230 |
| A room of furniture or a personal-effects shipment | SAR 1,650 | SAR 1,650 | SAR 1,650 | SAR 1,650 |
| Small flat’s furniture | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 |
| Large flat’s furniture | SAR 6,000 | SAR 6,000 | SAR 6,000 | SAR 6,000 |
| Villa furniture | SAR 7,800 | Set on request | Set on request | Set on request |
| Saloon car | SAR 1,290 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 2,300 |
| Air freight per kilogram | SAR 14 | SAR 14 | SAR 14 | SAR 14 |
Riyadh and the central region. No city in the Kingdom ships more to Jordan, its consolidation runs are close together, and its road passes Buraydah and Hail, so Qassim’s shipments join it. Cities we have not given an article of their own are priced on the figures of the nearest priced city: Qassim, Hail and the Eastern Province on Riyadh’s figures.
Jeddah, Makkah and Taif. Their trucks head north to Tabuk and then Halat Ammar, and Jeddah alone offers sea freight to Aqaba. Makkah has no airport and no port, so its air freight goes from Jeddah airport, and large trucks enter it at regulated hours that tighten in Ramadan and Hajj. Taif and the south are on Jeddah’s figures.
Madinah and Tabuk. Madinah is the nearest of the major western cities to Jordan, and trucks from Jeddah and Makkah pass through it, so its shipments do not wait long. Tabuk is about 100 km from Halat Ammar, so its shipment reaches the crossing in roughly an hour and a half, and it is priced on Madinah’s figures.
Dammam and the Eastern Province. Its road runs north through Hafr al-Batin, Rafha, Arar and Turaif, and meets the Riyadh road at Qurayyat. Industrial goods from Jubail and Dammam leave in full trailers or on flatbeds. The cities we collect from are on the cities page.
Land crossings from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

Three land crossings link the two countries, and each serves one side of the Kingdom and opens onto one side of Jordan. Haditha is the largest and carries the most trucks, and the Omari post faces it. Halat Ammar is in the Tabuk region, and Mudawwara faces it. Durra is on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, and those heading for the city of Aqaba enter through it. Choosing the crossing is not the driver’s guess; it is the result of two questions: where does the shipment leave from, and where is it going?
| Saudi crossing | Jordanian post opposite | Location | Serves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haditha | Omari | 36 km north of Qurayyat; Omari is about 155 km from Amman | Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, the Eastern Province and Al-Jouf, and traffic bound for Zarqa, Amman and Irbid |
| Halat Ammar | Mudawwara | North of Tabuk; Mudawwara is about 322 km from Amman | Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk and the south, and traffic bound for Ma’an, Karak and Amman |
| Durra | Durra, south of Aqaba | 11 km north of Haql, and about 349 km from Amman | Anything bound for Aqaba and its special economic zone |
At every crossing things run in the same order. The Saudi side completes the export declaration and checks the load against its papers. The truck then enters the yard of the Jordanian post, where the customs declaration is lodged, the load is examined, and duties are paid or the exemption file is approved. We send a copy of the file to the broker before the truck arrives, so work on it starts while the truck is on the road. The ports and crossings we work through are on the ports and gateways page, and the service is on the land freight page.
Shipping furniture and household effects from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
Household furniture is what is shipped most on this route, and it travels in a closed truck from the door of the home in the Kingdom to inside the home in Jordan. A room starts from SAR 1,650, and a small flat from SAR 3,700. What separates a successful move from a tiring one is not the truck but what comes before it: orderly dismantling, packing that withstands a customs inspection, and a list written in detail. This is what we do:
- Estimating the volume: from photos of the rooms or a visit, so we know whether space in a shared truck is enough or you need a truck of your own.
- Dismantling: wardrobes, beds and fitted kitchens are taken apart by a carpenter, every panel carries a number, and each piece’s fittings go in its own bag.
- Air conditioners and appliances: an air conditioner is removed after its gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit, and the fridge and washing machine are drained and left open overnight.
- The list: every carton and every piece on a line, in the owner’s name exactly as in his passport, because it is the document Jordanian customs reads.
- Loading: heavy pieces at the front and on the floor, glass upright along the sides, and straps pulling the rows to the truck walls.
- In Jordan: our team there carries to the upper floors, reassembles what was dismantled, and takes the cartons and plastic away.
Details of the service are on the furniture shipping page.
Full truck or shared load?
A full truck is for those who fill it or are in a hurry, and a shared one for those whose shipment is smaller and whose time is not tight. In the first you book the whole vehicle, so it leaves the hour your loading ends and goes to customs as one file. In the second you are charged for the space you took, and the truck leaves once it fills with other people’s shipments bound for Jordan.
| Point of comparison | Full truck | Shared load |
|---|---|---|
| Charged on | The truck: a 6-metre truck or a trailer | The cubic metre or the piece |
| Time | 2–4 days | 4–7 days |
| Departure day | You set it | Set when the run is complete |
| At customs | One file and one inspection | A file for each owner |
| Handling | Loaded once and unloaded once | May pass through the consolidation warehouse |
| Suits | A whole home, an exemption file, and wholesale goods | A room, cartons, and a few pallets |
Our advice to a returnee with an exemption file is to take the full truck once his furniture comes close to half of it. The price gap narrows at that point, and his file is spared waiting for other people’s papers.
Packing: protecting sensitive devices and furniture
A shipment to Jordan is loaded and unloaded more often than its owner expects: once at home, some pieces may be taken down at inspection, and then it is carried up stairs in Amman. In between lie hundreds of kilometres of heat, dust and vibration. So packing here is planned for handling as much as for the road. Each item has its material:
| Item | How it is packed | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Screens and computers | The original box if there is one; otherwise foam on all six sides inside a wooden crate | Pressure on the face breaks them even if they never fall |
| Kitchenware and crystal | Each piece in its paper, with cardboard dividers between them, in a double-wall carton | Rubbing between pieces is what breaks them |
| Bedrooms and wardrobes | Dismantled panels wrapped in a blanket and then corrugated board, with reinforced corners | Paint scratches at the first rub |
| Sofas and mattresses | A fabric cover, then plastic wrap | It keeps dust off, and the fabric stops them sweating |
| Marble, mirrors and paintings | A padded wooden crate, carried upright | Laid flat, they break under any weight |
| Chandeliers and ornaments | Arms removed, then hung or fixed inside their crate | Their own weight on the ends breaks them |
Every carton carries its number, the room it goes back to and an arrow showing which way is up, and fragile ones carry a warning label. Packing methods are in the packing guide, and securing inside the truck is on the packing and lashing page.
Shipping parcels, suitcases and personal effects
A small shipment is charged by the carton from SAR 140, by the suitcase from SAR 230, or by weight from SAR 9.2 a kilogram. It joins a scheduled overland run, or goes by air if its date is close. Its owners are a resident sending Eid clothes to family in Zarqa, a student who has finished her studies, a pilgrim whose bags exceeded the airline allowance, and a shopper who bought from the Kingdom’s stores.
- Collection: from the home, lodging or hotel, with a receipt stating the number of pieces and their weight.
- Weight: a carton up to 30 kg; anything more is split into two so one person can carry it.
- The consignee: the name as on the ID, the national number, and a Jordanian mobile that is answered.
- Declaration: write what is in the carton and its approximate value, as new gifts are valued in Jordan.
- What stays with you: cash, jewellery, passports and the medicines you need while travelling.
Details are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping electrical and electronic appliances
Appliances are shipped by land with the furniture or on their own, and a screen of 55 inches or larger starts from SAR 370 in a protective crate. Before shipping any appliance there are two questions: will it work in Jordan, and is duty paid on it? The voltage there is 230 V as in the Kingdom, but the frequency is 50 Hz against the Kingdom’s 60. Appliances whose label reads 50/60 work with no change, which is true of most recent ones.
- Old air conditioners and washing machines: read the label before shipping, as some of their motors are built for one frequency.
- Sockets: Jordanian homes have more than one type, so take a few adaptors.
- Used items in a returnee’s furniture: one piece of each appliance falls under the exemption, and duplicates count as goods.
- New in its box: shipped with its invoice, and its duty and sales tax are paid.
- Mobile phones and laptops: safest travelling with you; if shipped, by air with the battery inside.
Shipping commercial goods and refrigerated freight
Commercial goods are shipped by the pallet from SAR 550, by the 6-metre truck from SAR 3,220, or by the trailer from SAR 5,980. Jordan is a nearby market for Saudi factories, and both countries are members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, so a product of Saudi origin is exempt from customs duty when an attested certificate of origin travels with it. The 16% sales tax remains on most items. Each kind of goods has its truck:
| Goods | Truck | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Dates and dry foodstuffs | Closed, or refrigerated in summer | Health certificate, label and expiry date |
| Dairy, juices and frozen meat | Refrigerated, with the temperature set and recorded throughout | Health certificate, and approval of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration |
| Medicines and medical supplies | Refrigerated or climate-controlled, by item | An import permit from the health authority in Jordan |
| Plastics and non-hazardous chemicals | Closed, on pallets | Certificate of origin and specification sheet |
| Steel, building materials and equipment | Flatbed or low-bed | Weight distribution and securing with chains |
| New furniture and appliances | Closed, in factory packing | A detailed invoice, and standards testing for some items |
Refrigerated freight is priced on request, because it follows the chilled space and the temperature required. The Jordanian importer needs a commercial registration and an importer card. For a company that supplies every month we arrange regular runs at a fixed price under contract. Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

A car travels to Jordan by land on a car carrier, and the price starts from SAR 1,290 for a saloon from Riyadh. Before booking we ask about the year of manufacture and the fuel type, because Jordan registers only a car that meets its conditions, and the carrier changes nothing about that. Whoever ships a car that is not accepted pays the fare out and then the fare back.
| Item | Rule in force |
|---|---|
| Age of a passenger car | 5 years at most from the year of manufacture |
| Electric car | 3 years at most |
| Condition | Cars classed as damaged, flooded or burnt are not accepted |
| Steering | Right-hand drive is banned; cars in the Kingdom are left-hand drive |
| Testing | Many cars are routed to the Zarqa Free Zone to be tested and cleared |
| Tax | It differs between petrol, hybrid and electric, and is charged on a value set by customs |
- Shared open carrier: it takes several cars on two decks and is the most economical. A saloon is from SAR 1,290 out of Riyadh, and from SAR 2,300 out of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah.
- Dedicated carrier: for a four-wheel-drive or a large family car, from SAR 2,020 out of Riyadh.
- Enclosed carrier: for luxury, sports and classic cars, so neither dust nor gravel reaches them. Its price is set on request.
- Export certificate: issued by the traffic department once fines are paid and the plates handed in. A car pledged to a finance company needs a letter of consent from it.
- Condition report: the body, cabin and odometer are photographed before loading, and the driver signs it.
- Clearance: its declaration starts at the crossing, and we follow it with the broker until it leaves with its Jordanian plate.
- A temporary visit: someone entering in his Saudi car as a visitor needs no export, and what he does need is explained on the triptik carnet page.
The car conditions and their tax rates have been amended more than once, so we rely only on what the broker confirms at the time of shipping. The general explanation is in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia, and the service is on the car shipping page.
Jordanian customs, the returnee furniture exemption and documents
Jordanian customs separates three things: a returnee’s used furniture, personal belongings sent to someone living in Jordan, and commercial goods. The first is exempt on conditions, the second is valued and pays what is due, and the third follows its tariff line and its certificate of origin. Most disputes at the border posts come from a shipment presented under a description that is not its own. This is the rule in force, and we confirm what applies before every shipment:
| Item | Rule in force in Jordan |
|---|---|
| Who qualifies for exemption | A Jordanian returning to live after a year or more outside his country |
| What it covers | Used furniture and effects within the family’s needs, and one appliance of each kind |
| Deadline | The shipment arrives within six months of the date of return |
| Attendance | The owner of the file or his agent at clearance |
| Repeat use | Restricted; anyone exempted before has his case reviewed first |
| New and duplicate items | Duty by item and 16% sales tax |
| Aqaba | A special economic zone with its own customs regime; what leaves it for the rest of Jordan is treated as an import |
| Type of shipment | Documents |
|---|---|
| Returnee’s furniture | The detailed list of contents, the passport stamped with the cancellation of the Saudi residence permit, an end-of-service letter from the employer or a new employment contract in Jordan, and proof of housing there in the form of a tenancy agreement or a registration deed |
| Cartons and personal effects | Sender’s ID, the consignee’s details and national number, and a list of the contents and their value |
| Commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin attested by the chamber of commerce, and the importer’s registration and card |
| Food and medicines | The above, with the health certificate or import permit |
| Car | Registration, export certificate, owner’s ID, and proof of the year of manufacture and specification |
We review these papers in your city before loading day, because the crossing lies hundreds of kilometres from most cities, and anyone missing a document there finds nobody to put it right for him. Documents are explained on the shipping documents page, and procedures on the customs clearance page.
What cannot be shipped to Jordan, or needs a permit
Few items are banned, and some pass with a paper. What matters is knowing this before the cartons are sealed, because one offending item in a shared truck holds up everyone’s shipments. These are the main ones:
| Item | Ruling |
|---|---|
| Weapons, ammunition and their parts, including hunting rifles and air guns | Banned without a prior licence |
| Narcotics and psychotropic substances | Banned |
| Gas cylinders, fuel, paints and solvents | Not carried in a furniture truck |
| Fireworks and firecrackers | Banned |
| Medicines | For personal use with the prescription, and for trade with a permit |
| Drones, radio sets and signal boosters | With prior approval from the competent authority |
| Plants, seeds, honey and food in quantity | With a health or agricultural certificate |
| Counterfeit branded goods | Seized |
| Cash, gold and original documents | They travel with their owner and are not shipped |

We deliver in all twelve governorates of Jordan, to the consignee’s address and not to a yard or a warehouse. Most shipments end in three cities close to one another: Amman, Zarqa and Irbid. A truck entering through Omari reaches Zarqa first and then Amman, and one entering through Mudawwara passes Ma’an and then climbs the Desert Highway to the capital. From Amman the roads branch north and west:
| City | Nearest crossing | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| Amman | Omari from the east, and Mudawwara from the south | A city of hills: outside stairs and slopes, and a smaller vehicle for some districts |
| Zarqa and Russeifa | Omari | The first large city after the eastern crossing, with the free zone and the industrial areas |
| Irbid and Ramtha | Omari | About 90 km north of Amman, and usually delivered the next day |
| Mafraq | Omari | On the northern road from Zarqa |
| Salt and Madaba | Omari or Mudawwara | About 30 km from Amman, and served on its day |
| Jerash and Ajloun | Omari | Winding mountain roads, with delivery by day |
| Karak and Tafilah | Mudawwara | South of Amman on the Desert Highway and its branches |
| Ma’an | Mudawwara | The first large city after the southern crossing |
| Aqaba | Durra | About 330 km south of Amman, with its own customs regime |
| Villages and outlying areas | By governorate | By prior arrangement, with a vehicle that suits the road |
Carrying to the upper floors is part of delivery. Many of Amman’s older buildings have no goods lift, and some entrances are narrower than an assembled wardrobe. So at booking we ask for the floor number, whether the building has a lift, the width of the stairs, and the nearest landmark or roundabout the address is known by. Details of the destination are on the shipping to Jordan page.
Shipping for individuals, companies and government institutions
We serve the individual, the company and the official body on the same route, and what differs is the arrangement around the truck. An individual cares about the safety of his things and a price that does not change. A company cares that its goods arrive on the supply date and that its tax papers are complete. A government body, an educational institution or an embassy cares that every handover is documented and that its contents stay protected.
| Client | What we arrange |
|---|---|
| Individuals and families | Dismantling, packing, transport and assembly, a review of the exemption papers, and storage if needed |
| Shops and traders | Shipping by the pallet or the truck, consolidation from several suppliers, and a certificate of origin |
| Factories and large companies | An annual contract at an agreed price, one coordinator for the account, and a regular report of shipments and quantities |
| Government and educational bodies | Official letters, a receipt and handover record, and sealed packing for files and devices |
| Embassies and missions | Coordinating the diplomatic exemption papers through the embassy, and delivery inside the premises |
Companies also get grouped clearance of several shipments in one file when their items are alike, and an after-delivery service that deals with any remarks written in the record.
Sea freight to Aqaba: when does it make sense?
Sea freight to Jordan is a limited option, because Jordan has a single port, Aqaba, in its far south. The container sails from Jeddah Islamic Port for two to 4 days, then travels about 330 km from Aqaba to Amman. That makes the door-to-door time 8 to 14 days, twice that of a truck. So we suggest it only for a heavy commercial container or equipment leaving the west coast, and a 20ft container starts from SAR 4,600 from Jeddah port. From Dammam it does not work at all, as a ship from there sails right round the Arabian Peninsula. Details of the line are in the article international sea freight from Jeddah, and the service is on the sea freight page.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

Air freight delivers a parcel or a document within one to 3 days, and starts from SAR 14 a kilogram. The flight between the Kingdom and Amman is two to two and a half hours, and direct flights run daily from Riyadh and Jeddah. So the time goes on clearance at the two airports, not in the air. It is the choice of anyone who cannot wait for the truck: a paper for an application, a sample for a client, or a spare part that has stopped a production line.
| Departure airport | Serves | Arrival airport |
|---|---|---|
| King Khalid International, Riyadh | Riyadh, Qassim and Hail | Queen Alia International, Amman |
| King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah | Jeddah, Makkah, Taif and the south | Queen Alia International, Amman |
| King Fahd International, Dammam | Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | Queen Alia International, subject to the flight schedule |
| Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz, Madinah | Madinah and its surroundings, switched to Jeddah if no flight is available | Queen Alia International, Amman |
- What it suits: documents, urgent parcels, samples, spare parts, and medicines with their permit.
- Chargeable weight: the higher of actual and volumetric, and volumetric is length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000. Or use the volumetric weight calculator.
- Price: from SAR 14 a kilogram, and documents by express from SAR 83.
- Tracking: by the shipment number from collection until the consignee signs.
- Delivery: we clear at Queen Alia Airport and deliver to the address in Amman or the governorates.
- What does not fly: loose batteries, perfume in quantity, aerosols, and any flammable liquid.
If your shipment is mixed we split it: the urgent part by plane, and the rest by truck. Details are on the air freight page.
Urgent freight and priority loading
Urgent land freight means a truck of your own that leaves on loading day and does not stop to consolidate. It cuts the time to the least the road and the crossing allow: two days from the nearer cities, and three from the distant ones. It is asked for by someone given a date to hand over his home, and by someone a client, an exhibition or a project is waiting for. Its price is set on request, because it follows the size of the dedicated vehicle. For those in no hurry there is the opposite option: a scheduled, non-urgent run at a lower price, in which the shipment waits for the load to be complete.
Door to door, warehouses and storage
Door-to-door service means one party from the start of the journey to its end: we collect from your address, pack, complete the export papers, transport, clear at the Jordanian post, and deliver inside the consignee’s home or store. You do not look for a carrier in Jordan, and you do not attend the crossing yourself unless the exemption file requires your presence.
When the date you leave your home in the Kingdom does not match the date your home in Jordan is ready, the shipment stays in our warehouse. The warehouse is closed and monitored by cameras, the shipment in it is raised off the floor and recorded against its list, and materials affected by heat are kept in a suitable space. Storage runs for days or months as you need. Details are on the door-to-door shipping and storage pages.
Steps for shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
- The call: you tell us your city and the consignee’s governorate, and send photos of what you will ship.
- Advice: we suggest the method and the crossing, and ask about your exemption status or the car’s year of manufacture.
- The price: it reaches you in writing, itemised: packing, transport, clearance and delivery.
- The date: we fix the loading day and hour, and receive photos of the documents to review.
- Packing and loading: at your place, with a numbered list and photographs, then the truck door is closed with a seal.
- The road and the crossing: you follow the shipment by its number, and we tell you when export is complete.
- Jordanian clearance: declaration, examination, and duties or exemption, with you present if required.
- Delivery: to the address, with carrying to the floor and assembly, and the pieces checked against the list.
Tracking and insurance
Every shipment has one number that stays with it from the collection receipt to the handover record. You ask about it with that number, and with it we send you where it has reached. Insurance is optional, but it is what turns rare damage into compensation with a known procedure, instead of an argument over who bears it.
- Tracking: a message when it leaves your city, when it enters the crossing, when clearance ends, and before delivery. The steps are on the track your shipment page.
- Risk assessment: before shipping we look at the valuable and fragile pieces, and suggest stronger packing or separate cover for them.
- Cover: full for the whole list or partial for the valuable pieces, under a policy you read before paying. It is explained on the cargo insurance page.
- If there is damage: note it in the handover record and photograph it before you sign, then we open the claim with the photos and the list.
Shipping from Jordan to Saudi Arabia
Trucks do not go back empty, so the service runs both ways. We collect from your address in any Jordanian governorate, complete export at the Jordanian post and import at the Saudi crossing, and deliver in your city in the Kingdom. Someone arriving for work brings in his used furniture with a list of contents and a valid residence permit or work visa. A product of Jordanian origin benefits from the Arab exemption with an attested certificate of origin, and value added tax in the Kingdom remains due on it.
Tips before shipping to Jordan
- Write your name and passport number on every document as they are in the passport; one different letter delays the file.
- Estimate the volume and weight before you call, or photograph each room from two angles, so the price is close to reality.
- Insure what is hard to replace, and write its true value, not less.
- Add protection for sensitive devices even if packing is ours: remove the ink cartridges and secure the moving parts.
- Photograph the passport, the list and the receipt, and keep the photos on your phone and in your email.
- Agree the delivery day and hour with the consignee, and make sure someone will be at the address.
How do you choose a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Jordan?
Ask the company about what happens after the border before you ask about the price. Most carriers deliver to the crossing, and few carry on to the consignee’s door and take responsibility for clearance. These signs tell the two apart:
| The question | A reassuring answer | An answer that calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Which crossing will you use? | Names it by your city and the consignee’s city | “Any crossing, they are all the same” |
| What does the price include? | Written items as far as the consignee’s door | A single figure, or a large percentage discount with no breakdown |
| Is my furniture exempt? | Asks for your papers, then answers | Promises exemption before seeing anything |
| Will my car get in? | Asks about the year and the fuel | “We load it and the rest is up to customs” |
| Who receives it in Jordan? | A team and a broker known by name | “The truck driver will sort it out” |
| What proves my right? | Commercial registration, a collection receipt and a signed list | A WhatsApp chat only |
Common mistakes when shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
- Loading a car older than the limit in the hope that it will “get through” customs.
- Mixing goods for sale into a returnee’s furniture so they enter under the exemption.
- Sending the shipment before its owner reaches Jordan, so it waits in the yard on demurrage.
- Leaving the shipment until after the six months from return.
- Relying on a crossing far from the consignee’s city because someone recommended it.
- Shipping old appliances built for 60 Hz only without reading their label.
- Agreeing a price “to the border” and then looking for a carrier inside Jordan.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
How much does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan cost?
The lowest starting figures are SAR 140 for a carton and SAR 230 for a suitcase. A room of furniture is from SAR 1,650, a flat’s furniture from SAR 3,700, and a villa from SAR 7,800 out of Riyadh. A saloon car is from SAR 1,290 out of Riyadh and from SAR 2,300 out of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. Air freight is from SAR 14 a kilogram. The last figure follows your city, the size of the shipment and the governorate of delivery. To ask: 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan take?
By land two to 7 days depending on the city: Tabuk and Al-Jouf are the shortest, then Madinah, then Riyadh, Jeddah and Makkah, then Dammam and Abha. A full truck is two to three days quicker than a shared one. By air one to 3 days. By sea to Aqaba 8 to 14 days.
Which crossing does the shipment enter Jordan through?
The crossing follows the loading city. Haditha and Omari for shipments from Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, the Eastern Province and Al-Jouf. Halat Ammar and Mudawwara for shipments from Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk and the south. Durra for anything bound straight for Aqaba along the coast. We name the crossing in the price before loading.
What is the difference between land and air freight to Jordan?
Land is the standard on this route: a closed truck carries any volume at low cost and arrives in days. Air delivers in one to 3 days, but it is charged by the kilogram, so it only suits documents, parcels, samples and spare parts. Furniture, cars and heavy goods belong on the truck.
Is used furniture exempt from customs in Jordan?
The rule in force is that a Jordanian who lived outside his country for a year or more and then returned for good has his used furniture and effects exempted, if they arrive within six months of his return and stay within his family’s needs. New pieces in their boxes pay duty and the 16% sales tax. We review your case with the broker before shipping.
What are the customs procedures and required documents?
Two clearances: export at the Saudi crossing and import at the Jordanian post opposite. The owner’s passport and a detailed list of contents are needed. A returnee adds proof that his residence and job have ended and his home address in Jordan. A trader adds an invoice, a packing list and an attested certificate of origin. A car needs its registration and the export certificate from the traffic department.
What are the conditions for bringing a car into Jordan for registration?
The rule in force is that a passenger car is no more than 5 years from its year of manufacture, and an electric one no more than 3. Cars classed as damaged or flooded are not accepted, nor are right-hand-drive cars. The tax differs between petrol, hybrid and electric. Send the year and fuel type before booking so we can confirm what applies.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, and how is it carried?
On an open car carrier that takes several cars, or an enclosed carrier for a valuable car. A saloon starts from SAR 1,290 out of Riyadh on a shared carrier, and from SAR 2,300 out of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. A four-wheel-drive is from SAR 2,020 out of Riyadh. The enclosed carrier is priced on request.
How much is air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan?
It starts from SAR 14 a kilogram, and documents by express from SAR 83. The charge is on the higher of actual and volumetric weight. The shipment leaves from the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah for Queen Alia International Airport.
What kinds of insurance are available for the shipment?
Two kinds, and the owner chooses between them: full cover for everything on the list at its declared value, or partial cover for the valuable pieces alone, such as the car, screens and appliances. The premium is a percentage of the value you write down, and it appears as a separate line in the price.
How do I follow my shipment on the road?
By the shipment number you receive on loading day. You ask with it on WhatsApp or by phone and get the truck’s position, and we send an update when it leaves your city, when it reaches the crossing, once clearance is finished, and a day before delivery. An air shipment is followed by its waybill number.
Is packing part of the service?
Yes, if you ask for it. We pack everything at your place, from a small device to a bedroom: double-wall cartons for kitchenware, foam and a wooden crate for screens and glass, and blankets for wood. If you packed it yourself, we check your packing and reinforce the weak parts before loading.
What are the largest and smallest shipments you carry to Jordan?
There is no minimum and no maximum. We ship an envelope or a single carton, move a whole home in a 15-metre trailer, run more than one truck for a factory or a project, and carry cars and equipment on carriers and flatbeds.
What payment methods are available?
Bank transfer, card, or payment on delivery for some shipments. The agreement states what is paid on booking and what is paid on delivery, and you receive a receipt for every amount.
Do you ship from Jordan to Saudi Arabia?
Yes. We collect from Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Aqaba, clear at both posts, and deliver in any Saudi city. The effects of someone arriving to live enter with a list of contents and a residence permit or work visa, and goods of Jordanian origin with an attested certificate of origin.
