Who ships from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, and what do they ship?
Most people who call us about this route are one of six. Lebanese have worked in the Kingdom’s cities for decades, so the largest share of orders is the home of a family going back to its country, followed by what a resident sends to relatives at the holidays, and then the goods of a Saudi factory or shop with a buyer in Lebanon. Knowing which group you belong to takes you halfway to the right method:
| Shipper | What they usually ship | The method we recommend |
|---|---|---|
| A Lebanese family ending its residence | A whole home’s furniture, appliances, books and luggage | A dedicated truck by road, or a 20ft container |
| A resident sending to relatives | Cartons of clothes, gifts, dates and an appliance or two | Road groupage by the kilogram |
| A student or a relocating employee | Suitcases, books and a computer | Road groupage, or air when time is short |
| A Lebanese Umrah or Hajj pilgrim | Luggage beyond the flight allowance | Road groupage from Makkah, Madinah or Jeddah |
| A car owner | A car within the accepted age limit | A sea container, or a road transporter |
| A factory, trader or organisation | Dates, food, plastics, building materials and office furniture | A full truck, or a full or shared container |
Shipping methods from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon and how long each takes
A shipment arrives by one of three means: truck, aircraft or ship. The truck is the most used, because it needs neither a port nor an airport in your city and carries furniture door to door with a single loading. The aircraft is the fastest and the dearest per kilogram. The ship is the slowest, but it is untouched by conditions at the land borders. The times in the table run from the day of collection to the day of delivery:
| Method | Where it starts | Door-to-door time | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated truck by road | From any city straight to the border post | 5–9 days | A whole home, or goods that fill a truck |
| Road groupage | From the consolidation warehouse once the load is complete | 7–12 days | A room or two, cartons and suitcases |
| Car transporter by road | From the major cities | 6–10 days | Cars |
| Sea container | Jeddah Islamic Port | 12–22 days | Cars, machinery and furniture that is not urgent |
| Air freight | Riyadh or Jeddah airport | 2–4 days | Documents, parcels and urgent suitcases |
The road journey has four stages, and the longest is always inside the Kingdom. Beyond the Saudi border post only about 400 km remain in Jordan, then about 150 km in Syria, then about 60 km from the Lebanese border to Beirut. What takes the time there is not the driving but the waiting at customs posts:
| Stage | Distance | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| From your city to the Saudi border post | From 100 km in Tabuk to about 1,500 km from Dammam | Hours to two days |
| Crossing Jordan to Jaber | About 200 km from Al-Omari, and about 410 km from Mudawwara | One to two days with formalities |
| Crossing Syria from Nassib to Jdeidet Yabous | About 150 km | One to 3 days depending on the two posts |
| From Masnaa to the address in Lebanon | About 60 km to Beirut | One to two days with clearance |
What lengthens the time?
- Queues at the six posts: each border has two posts, and each post has its peak hours and its days off.
- Transshipping the load: if it has to be moved onto another truck in a crossing yard, that adds a day.
- Filling the groupage truck: a small shipment waits until the truck bound for Lebanon is full.
- Snow on Dahr el-Baidar: the mountain road between the Bekaa and Beirut is sometimes closed in winter.
- Summer and the holidays: returnees multiply, the crossings fill up and fewer trucks are available.
- A gap in the exemption file: an unattested statement keeps the furniture in the Masnaa yard until it is completed.
The three methods are compared in detail on the shipping methods comparison page, and the times to other destinations are on the transit times page.
Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
A price to Lebanon is built from four items: collection and packing in your city; the road, sea or air freight; transit fees and brokers at the borders; and delivery to the address. The figures below are the lowest our services start from across the Kingdom’s cities, and after them comes a table that breaks them down by origin city:
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| A small parcel | Road groupage | SAR 55 |
| Cartons and parcels by weight | Road groupage | SAR 11 per kilogram |
| A household appliance or a single piece of furniture | Road groupage | SAR 415 |
| A shipment of luggage, suitcases and cartons | Road groupage | SAR 920 |
| A bedroom | Road groupage | SAR 1,195 |
| A small flat’s furniture | Land | SAR 3,700 |
| A large flat’s furniture | Dedicated truck | SAR 4,600 |
| A 20ft container | Sea, from Jeddah port to the Port of Beirut | SAR 4,600 |
| A saloon car | Sea container | SAR 2,800 |
| A car on a transporter | Land | SAR 4,140 |
| Urgent parcels and suitcases | Air | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| An envelope of documents | Express | SAR 83 |
| A 40ft container, a villa’s furniture, or a refrigerated shipment | Sea or land | Set on request |
Market prices for the Lebanon route vary enormously from one advertiser to the next. In land freight you will see SAR 12 quoted for a groupage kilogram, SAR 60 for the smallest parcel, SAR 450 for an appliance or a piece of furniture, and SAR 4,500 for a car carried on a transporter. In air freight some start from SAR 35 a kilogram, others ask between SAR 68 and 80, and figures for parcels of up to 30 kg reach SAR 80 to 150 a kilogram, a parcel of up to 5 kg SAR 150 to 350, and a small appliance by air SAR 500 to 1,200. In sea freight a container is offered at SAR 4,000 to 6,500 by one party and at SAR 11,000 to 22,000 for a 20ft by another, a bedroom from SAR 5,000, a medium home’s furniture at SAR 5,000 to 8,000, a whole home at SAR 9,000 to 18,000, a saloon car at SAR 4,500 to 7,000, and a four-wheel drive at SAR 6,000 to 9,500. The spread comes from the fact that some figures are for transport alone while others include dismantling, assembly and clearance, so compare two offers only once you know what goes into each.
| Factor | How it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Origin city | The nearer it is to the northern border, the lower the road freight: Tabuk and Al-Jouf are nearer, the Eastern Province and the south farther |
| Volume and weight | They are the basis of the sum in groupage. Estimate your shipment’s volume with the CBM calculator |
| Dedicated truck or groupage | With a dedicated truck you pay its whole hire and it moves on your day; in groupage you pay your share and wait |
| Number of borders | Three land borders with transit fees and brokers, against a single port by sea |
| The Lebanese district | Delivery in the Bekaa is nearest the crossing; the mountain, the north and the south add distribution |
| Service at both homes | Dismantling and packing here, the lift and assembly there, all are items stated in the price |
| Time of year | Summer and the holidays cost more; winter is quieter in demand and longer on the road |
How do you lower the cost?
- If your shipment is under half a truck and no date is chasing you, road groupage is enough.
- Check the returnee exemption conditions before you book, not after; a duty paid on furniture that could have been exempt eats everything you saved.
- Sell or give away what is not worth the trip: worn-out wardrobes and old mattresses are charged by the metre like anything else.
- Put the car and the furniture in one container if both are yours and you are not in a hurry.
- Avoid the peak weeks before Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and in July and August.
- Send photos of every room before asking for a price, as an accurate estimate prevents any adjustment on loading day.
Each pricing item is explained on the pricing factors page.
Prices by origin city in the Kingdom
The price is not the same from every city, because what comes before the border differs. Makkah is the lowest of the four cities for a luggage shipment and a large flat’s furniture, and the sea and air items are identical because they are counted from Jeddah port and the airport. These are the starting prices as they stand in each city’s article:
| Item | Riyadh | Jeddah | Makkah | Madinah |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luggage and cartons by land | SAR 1,650 | SAR 1,650 | SAR 920 | SAR 1,650 |
| A small flat’s furniture by land | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 | SAR 3,700 |
| A large flat’s furniture by dedicated truck | SAR 6,000 | SAR 6,000 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 6,000 |
| A 20ft container from Jeddah port | SAR 4,600 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 4,600 |
| A saloon car by sea | SAR 2,800 | SAR 2,800 | SAR 2,800 | SAR 2,800 |
| A car on a road transporter | SAR 4,140 | Set on request | SAR 4,140 | Set on request |
| A kilogram by air | SAR 14 | SAR 14 | SAR 14 | SAR 14 |
From Riyadh and Makkah a small parcel by road starts from SAR 55, a groupage kilogram from SAR 11, and a household appliance from SAR 415; a bedroom from Makkah starts from SAR 1,195. For Dammam, Qassim, Tabuk, Abha and the remaining cities the price is set on request, because the item for transport to the border changes with distance. Moving a container from the inland cities to Jeddah port is a separate item added to the sea freight.
Shipping to Lebanon from the Kingdom’s cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Dammam and others
We collect from every city, and what changes is the border post the truck leaves from and the number of days before the frontier. The cities of the centre, the east and the north-east head for Haditha near Qurayyat, and those of the west and north-west head for Halat Ammar north of Tabuk. The table sums up each city, with a link to its article where it has one of its own:
| Collection city | Road to the border | Distance to Beirut | Time by land | Air and sea | Detailed article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | Qassim, then Hail, then Al-Jouf to Haditha | About 1,800 km | 5–10 days | King Khalid Airport; a container is moved to Jeddah port | Shipping company from Riyadh to Lebanon |
| Jeddah | Madinah, then Tabuk to Halat Ammar | About 1,600 km | 6–10 days | King Abdulaziz Airport and Jeddah Islamic Port in the city itself | Shipping from Jeddah to Beirut |
| Makkah | Jeddah or Madinah, then Tabuk to Halat Ammar | About 1,800 km | 6–12 days | Through Jeddah’s airport and port, about 80 km away | Shipping company from Mecca to Lebanon |
| Madinah | Tabuk at about 680 km, then Halat Ammar | About 1,400 km | 5–10 days | Madinah airport or via Jeddah; a container from Jeddah port | Shipping company from Madinah to Lebanon |
| Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | Hafar al-Batin, then Rafha, Arar and Turaif to Haditha | About 1,900 km | 6–11 days | Air via Riyadh airport or King Fahd Airport, depending on flights | International shipping company in Dammam |
| Qassim: Buraydah, Unaizah and Ar Rass | Hail, then Al-Jouf to Haditha | About 1,450 km | 5–9 days | Via Riyadh airport | Loaded onto the Riyadh truck as it passes |
| Hail, Al-Jouf and Arar | Straight to Haditha | Between 800 and 1,150 km | 4–8 days | Via Riyadh airport | The inland cities nearest the border post |
| Tabuk | About 100 km to Halat Ammar | About 720 km | 4–8 days | Via Jeddah airport | The shortest road distance to Lebanon among the major cities |
| Taif | With the Makkah and Jeddah trucks | About 1,850 km | 6–12 days | Via Jeddah’s airport and port | Served from Jeddah |
| Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran | To Jeddah first, then the western line | About 2,300 km from Abha | 8–13 days | Via Jeddah’s airport and port | Carried by closed truck to the consolidation point |
Riyadh: the largest community of Lebanese working in the Kingdom, and what leaves it most is the furniture of whole homes. Its road to Haditha is direct, and a sea container from it travels overland to Jeddah port before it sails.
Jeddah, Makkah and Taif: the port and the airport are here, so containers and air freight for all the western cities leave from them. Makkah has a shipment that sets it apart: the luggage of Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, which we collect from hotels. Entry of large trucks into Makkah is regulated by hours that tighten in Ramadan and Hajj.
Madinah: directly on the Tabuk road, so it has one of the shortest routes of the major cities. Dates and visitors’ gifts are frequent in its shipments, and truck entry to the central area has hours, which we confirm before loading day.
The Eastern Province: the farthest cities from Lebanon by road, and their truck takes the international northern road alongside the Iraqi border as far as Turaif and Qurayyat. Because Dammam port is on the Gulf, it does not suit sea freight to Beirut except in a few cases explained in the sea section.
The north and the south: Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Hail are on the doorstep of the two border posts, so their shipments are quicker and cheaper in road freight. Abha, Jazan and Najran are at the other end of the Kingdom, so their shipments are gathered in Jeddah and join the first truck. The list of cities we collect from is on the cities page.
Land freight from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon: three borders and one file

Two countries lie between the Kingdom and Lebanon, so no truck reaches Beirut before it has crossed Jordan and then Syria. It is cleared through customs only once, in Lebanon; in the other two countries it passes in transit under a document opened on entry and closed on exit. That is why the truck is sealed after loading, and its seal and list number are what is checked at every post.
| Border | The post it leaves from | The post it enters | Procedure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia – Jordan | Haditha, or Halat Ammar | Al-Omari, or Mudawwara | Saudi export declaration, and Jordanian transit opened |
| Jordan – Syria | Jaber | Nassib | Jordanian transit closed, and the Syrian one opened |
| Syria – Lebanon | Jdeidet Yabous | Masnaa | Syrian transit closed, then the Lebanese import declaration and inspection |
- A sealed truck: a closed box sealed with lead after loading, and the seal is broken only with a customs officer present.
- Complete papers for every border: copies of the list, the export declaration and the authorisation are handed to the driver in an envelope for each post.
- The Syrian rule: Damascus regulates the entry of non-Syrian trucks into its territory, and those passing in transit are exempted. Moving the load in a crossing yard may be required all the same, so we pack every shipment as though it will be transshipped.
- The Masnaa crossing: Lebanon’s main land gateway, in the Bekaa, where the shipment is inspected and its duties calculated or its exemption applied.
- Refrigerated shipments: dates and food travel in a refrigerated truck whose temperature is logged all the way, and its price is set on request.
Note: depending on the state of the crossings, we confirm the available route before shipping. If in the week of your order we find something that makes a road date unsafe, we tell you before you pay anything and offer you the sea container or the flight rather than a promise we do not own. The road service is explained on the land freight page.
Haditha or Halat Ammar: which border post suits your city?
Geography settles the choice, not preference. Haditha is the largest Saudi land border post and lies 36 km from Qurayyat; opposite it is Al-Omari, about 155 km from Amman. Halat Ammar is in the Tabuk region; opposite it is Mudawwara, about 322 km from Amman. From both posts the two roads meet before the Jaber post on the Syrian border.
| Comparison | Haditha post | Halat Ammar post |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Al-Jouf region, near Qurayyat | Tabuk region, about 100 km north of Tabuk city |
| Serves | Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and the Eastern Province | Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Taif, Tabuk and the south |
| Road inside Jordan | Shorter: about 200 km to Jaber | Longer: about 410 km to Jaber |
| Nature of traffic | Heavy truck traffic and wide yards | Lighter traffic, with queues in travel seasons |
We change the usual post only for a reason: a sudden build-up, or a shipment consolidated from two cities on two different lines. We write the name of the post in the shipment’s details so that you know where it is when we tell you it has crossed.
Shipping household and office furniture: dismantling, packing and assembly

Furniture bound for Lebanon is packed for a journey unlike a move between two cities: more than a thousand kilometres, a possible inspection at Masnaa, and the chance that pieces are moved from one truck to another. So our rule is that every piece must withstand being carried by hand at least twice without its wrapping being opened. The work is done in your home or office in this order:
- Dismantling and numbering: wardrobes, beds, dining tables and desks are taken apart, each panel gets a number, and its screws go into a bag bearing the same number.
- Packing for a long road: blankets on the wood, then corrugated cardboard on the corners, then plastic wrap that binds it all and keeps out dust.
- Fragile pieces: glass, marble, mirrors and screens in wooden crates made to measure, travelling upright on their edge.
- Chandeliers, ornaments and crockery: each piece in its own wrap and then in a padded carton, with the contents and the way up written on the carton.
- Upholstery: sofas and mattresses in sealed bags, and carpets rolled on a tube, not folded.
- Office furniture: desks and cabinets are numbered to the new premises’ floor plan, files move in locked boxes, and loading is scheduled outside working hours so that the office is not disrupted.
- A detailed list of contents: a number and a description for every carton and piece in Arabic and English, with photos before packing and after stowing.
- In the Lebanese home: unloading, carrying in and assembling what we dismantled, and removing the cardboard and plastic when we finish.
Before all that comes a survey at no charge, by photos or a visit, with which we fix the volume and tell you which method best suits your furniture. And if the furniture is ready before the home in Lebanon is, we keep it in the warehouse, packed and inventoried, until you ask for it. The service is on the furniture shipping page, protection methods are in the packing guide, and the terms of keeping are on the storage page.
A dedicated truck, or groupage with other shipments?
The decision follows volume first and date second. If your furniture fills half a truck or more, a dedicated truck is safer for you, because it is sealed at your door and travels on a single file. If you have a room and a few cartons, groupage is cheaper, and in return you accept waiting for the load to fill and having your shipment cleared alongside other people’s at Masnaa.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Groupage |
|---|---|---|
| Basis of the price | The whole hire of the truck | The kilogram or the cubic metre |
| Departure day | Your loading day | When the truck is full |
| Time from the central and western cities | 5–9 days | 7–12 days |
| Number of handlings | A single loading from your home | A consolidation warehouse, then a truck |
| Customs file | One file in your name | As many files as there are shippers |
| Suits | A whole home, or an exemption claim for a returnee’s furniture | A room, cartons, suitcases and a single appliance |
Shipping parcels, luggage and suitcases to Lebanon
The smallest thing we ship is a parcel starting from SAR 55 by road, and the most requested in this group is a shipment of luggage and cartons starting from SAR 920. Road freight by weight is clearly cheaper than air once a shipment passes a few kilograms, so it is chosen by those sending to relatives who do not mind a week’s wait. Air remains for whatever has a deadline.
- Family cartons: clothes, shoes, toys, dates and coffee, in a double-wall carton weighing no more than 30 kg, from SAR 11 a kilogram.
- A traveller’s suitcases: for anyone who flew and left the bags to follow by road; they are wrapped in plastic and entered in the list under his name.
- Students’ and employees’ belongings: books, a computer and clothes, with the books in small cartons because they are heavier than they look.
- Pilgrims’ luggage: collected from the hotel in Makkah or Madinah before the departure date, and Zamzam water is not shipped with it.
- Consignee details: the name as on the ID, the district, town and street, and a Lebanese phone number that is answered.
- Payment: on booking by transfer or electronic payment, and payment on delivery in Lebanon is agreed in advance for some parcels.
Service details and weight limits are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping electronic and electrical appliances in specialised packing
Appliances are what people most often report damaged in long-distance shipping, and the cause is usually continuous vibration rather than a single knock. So we pack the appliance until it cannot move inside its carton, and pack the carton until it cannot move inside the truck. A single household appliance ships by road from SAR 415.
- Computers, phones and cameras: an anti-static bag, then high-density foam, then a carton within a carton.
- Screens and televisions: the factory carton if there is one, otherwise a wooden crate with a padded face, and never laid flat.
- Fridge and freezer: the power is cut a full day ahead, and they are dried and left slightly open inside the wrap so that they do not go mouldy.
- Washing machine: the transit bolts that hold the drum are fitted, and if they are lost we brace it with foam.
- Air conditioners: the gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit before removal, and the copper pipes are wrapped separately.
- Appliances sensitive to heat and humidity: desiccant bags inside the carton, and a place away from the truck wall that faces the sun.
- Documentation: we run the appliance in front of you and photograph it before packing, and it is handed over in Lebanon with a photo report on its condition.
- Urgent items by air: a computer and a phone arrive in two to 4 days, with their batteries fitted in them, not loose.
The supply in Lebanon is 220 volts at 50 hertz, close to the Kingdom’s, so most of your appliances will work there. But sockets come in several shapes and power cuts are frequent, so many of our customers ship a voltage stabiliser and adaptors with their furniture, and some ship solar panels and batteries, stowed upright at the bottom of the load.
Shipping commercial goods: a full truck, an FCL container or LCL part load?
A trader has three vessels: a full road truck, a full sea container (FCL), and a share in a shared container or truck (LCL). The truck beats the container by days and distributes to more than one warehouse in Lebanon. The container is cheaper per tonne for heavy goods and passes only one port. The part load is for anyone testing the market with a small order.
| Vessel | Capacity | Time | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full road truck | About 80 m³ in a closed trailer | 5–9 days | Food, dates, urgent goods and distribution to several addresses |
| 20ft FCL container | About 28 m³ | 12–22 days | Tiles, marble and heavy materials |
| 40ft FCL container | About 58 m³ | 12–22 days | Plastics, detergents and commercial furniture |
| LCL part load | By the cubic metre or the pallet | Longer by the days of consolidation | Small orders and samples |
- The commercial file: a commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin attested by the chamber of commerce, and a road or sea bill of lading.
- The Saudi-origin advantage: goods made in the Kingdom benefit from the Greater Arab Free Trade Area exemption when their certificate of origin is valid, and value added tax still applies to them.
- The Lebanese importer: the declaration is opened in his name, so he needs a commercial register and a tax number.
- Restricted categories: food with a health certificate, and cosmetics and medicine with the approval of the competent ministry. We tell you which licence is required before the goods move, and our broker follows its issue.
- Exhibitions and projects: arrival timed before the opening, and temporary storage in Lebanon if the goods arrive before the site is ready.
- Periodic contracts: whoever ships every month gets a contract price below that of a single trip, and a report on each trip.
The service is on the commercial shipping page, and each container’s dimensions are on the container sizes page.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
A car reaches Lebanon in a sea container from SAR 2,800, or on a road transporter from SAR 4,140. But the first thing we ask you is the year of manufacture, not the price, because Lebanese customs, under the practice in force, do not accept a used car more than 8 years old. The second question is about its charges there, which are calculated on a value customs assess and grow with engine size.
| Method | How the car is carried | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated sea container | Its wheels are strapped down inside a 20ft container and it is covered with a fabric cover | SAR 2,800 | The firmest on dates, with room for declared belongings |
| 40ft container | Two cars, or a car with furniture | Set on request | Cheaper for anyone shipping both together |
| RoRo | Driven into the ship’s hold, and not covered | Set on request | When a suitable sailing to the Port of Beirut is available |
| Road transporter | Tied down by its wheels on a transporter crossing Jordan and Syria | SAR 4,140 | Depends on the state of the crossings in the week of shipping |
- Papers for leaving the Kingdom: an export certificate from the traffic department after fines are paid and the plates handed in, and the lender’s consent if the car is financed.
- What is paid in Lebanon: customs duty, excise and value added tax, then registration and the mechanical inspection.
- Steering: left-hand drive as in the Kingdom; right-hand drive is not accepted.
- Before you hand it to us: a quarter tank of fuel, an empty cabin, and a video of the body and the odometer, which is the reference for any claim.
- A visitor with his car: whoever enters Lebanon with his car temporarily and then returns is not importing; he needs the customs carnet explained on the triptik carnet page.
The general export conditions are in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia, and transport methods and their prices are on the car shipping page.
Customs clearance in Lebanon: duties, exemption and tax
A customs declaration is opened for everything that enters Lebanon, whether it arrives through Masnaa, the port or the airport. The general rule is a duty by category followed by value added tax, and the most important exception is the furniture of a Lebanese national returning for good. We complete the procedure for you through a licensed broker: we prepare the papers before loading, follow the inspection, tell you the amount of the duties before they are paid, and send you their receipts.

| Furniture of a Lebanese returning for good | A one-time exemption for anyone who lived abroad more than 3 years, with the embassy’s statement and an attested list |
| The condition of use | The furniture must be used and owned for months, and the figure in circulation is at least six months |
| Deadline for the furniture’s arrival | Tied to the date its owner entered Lebanon; we confirm it with the broker before shipping |
| Furniture and belongings without exemption | Duty and tax on a value assessed by customs |
| New goods | Duty by category, then 11% value added tax; we confirm the rate in force on request |
| Goods of Saudi origin | Exempt from duty with a valid certificate of origin, with the tax remaining |
| A new item in its box among exempt furniture | It is separated out and its duty and tax are charged |
| A foreigner moving to live in Lebanon | With a work contract, a residence permit and a housing contract; the case is reviewed with the broker |
The presence of the shipment’s owner, or of someone he appoints, at clearance is normally required, and exempt furniture may not be sold before a period set by the regulations has passed. Since these rules are amended, we do not build on what we know from an earlier shipment; we ask the broker about each new file. The procedures are explained on the customs clearance page.
Documents required for shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
The same papers are presented at the Saudi border post, then at the posts of Jordan and Syria, then in Lebanon. So a gap is not discovered just once, and correcting it after the truck has left the Kingdom is harder and dearer. We ask for the file as photos on WhatsApp before the loading day is fixed:
| Shipment | What it needs |
|---|---|
| A returnee’s furniture claiming the exemption | Passport, residence permit with final exit, the Lebanese embassy’s statement, an attested list, and a title deed or tenancy contract in Lebanon |
| Furniture and belongings without exemption | Passport or ID, and a numbered list with an approximate value for every item |
| Parcels and gifts | The sender’s ID, the consignee’s full details, and an honest description of the contents |
| Commercial goods | Invoice, packing list, attested certificate of origin, bill of lading, and the Lebanese importer’s register |
| A car | Registration, export certificate, the owner’s ID, and the purchase invoice if available |
| Any shipment whose owner is absent | An authorisation for the broker in the Kingdom through the approved platform, and a power of attorney for whoever receives in Lebanon |
A specimen of each paper and how to obtain it are on the shipping documents page.
What may not be shipped to Lebanon, and what needs a permit
A shipment is subject to the regulations of four countries by road, and to airline conditions by air. What is accepted in one country may stop the truck in another. We do not load a doubtful item before asking about it, and we ask you not to hide anything inside the cartons:
| Category | Its status |
|---|---|
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited |
| Narcotics and alcohol | May not leave the Kingdom |
| Medicines and medical preparations | With a Lebanese Ministry of Health permit; a personal quantity with its prescription |
| Radio and communication devices and drones | With a prior licence |
| Counterfeit goods | Seized |
| Chemicals, fertilisers and oxidising materials | Not loaded with personal shipments |
| Gas, aerosols, lighters and flammable liquids | Not loaded by road with furniture, nor by air |
| Loose lithium batteries | Banned by air, and isolated in special packing by road |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped; the traveller carries it in its dedicated pack |
| Cash, gold and original documents | They travel with their owner, not with the shipment |
The full list for each shipping method is on the prohibited items page.
Delivery in Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon and the other Lebanese districts

We deliver in every Lebanese governorate, inside the home and not at the building’s entrance. The country is small, but delivery in it takes preparation: Beirut’s older buildings have narrow stairs and small lifts, the mountain towns have steep roads, and the old souks of Tripoli and Sidon admit no truck. So we distribute from the Bekaa or Beirut in smaller vehicles, and use an external lift that raises furniture to the balcony on upper floors.
| District | Cities and towns | Distance from Beirut | What delivery allows for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beirut and its suburbs | Achrafieh, Hamra, Verdun, Ras Beirut and the southern suburbs | Within the capital | A lift for upper floors, and a parking permit in narrow streets |
| Mount Lebanon | Jounieh, Jbeil, Metn, Keserwan, Baabda, Aley and the Chouf | 20–40 km | A small vehicle for mountain roads |
| The north | Tripoli, El Mina, Zgharta, Koura, Batroun and Akkar | About 85 km to Tripoli | A hand cart in the old quarters |
| The south | Sidon, Tyre and Nabatieh | About 45 km to Sidon, and 85 km to Tyre | A time agreed with the consignee a day ahead |
| The Bekaa | Zahle, Chtaura, Baalbek and Rashaya | About 55 km to Zahle | Delivered first, because it is on the road from the crossing |
Tell us on booking the floor number, whether the building has a lift, and whether a truck can reach the entrance. With those three we know whether the external lift is needed and which vehicle to send. Container and air shipments are cleared at the port or the airport and then delivered to the address in the same way. The destination page is shipping to Lebanon, and the service is explained on the door-to-door shipping page.
Shipping for individuals, companies, government bodies and embassies
The service is one, and the way it is delivered differs with the customer. An individual wants to understand the price and to have the furniture arrive intact. A company wants a date it can rely on and papers that go into its books. An official body wants a transaction documented from start to finish:
| Customer | Priority | How we serve them |
|---|---|---|
| Families and individuals | Intact furniture and a price with no surprises | A photo survey, an itemised price, packing at home, and assembly in Lebanon |
| Students and relocating employees | A small shipment at a low cost | Road groupage by weight, and collection from the accommodation |
| Companies and online shops | Regular trips and a tax invoice | A periodic contract at a fixed price, an account manager, and a report for every trip |
| Factories and suppliers | The order arriving within the delivery window | A full truck or a container, and a certificate of origin reviewed before loading |
| Government bodies and embassies | Official procedure and confidentiality | Official correspondence, a collection and delivery record, and coordination of diplomatic exemption papers |
Sea freight from Saudi Arabia to the Port of Beirut
A sea container leaves Jeddah Islamic Port, sails north up the Red Sea, passes through the Suez Canal, and berths at the Port of Beirut after 5 to 9 days’ sailing. With transport to the port and clearance at both ends, the time comes to 12–20 days from Jeddah and Makkah, and 14–22 days from Riyadh and the distant cities. It is the option that does not hinge on the state of the land crossings.
- A 20ft container: its sea freight starts from SAR 4,600, and it holds a flat’s furniture or a car with belongings.
- A 40ft container: for a whole home, two cars or light, bulky goods, and its price is set on request.
- Part load: for anyone whose shipment is under 15 m³, who pays for his own metres and shares the container with others.
- From the inland cities: the container is loaded and sealed at your site, then moved by truck to the quay at Jeddah, and this is a separate item in the price.
- The Port of Tripoli: a second option for an address in the north, when a sailing to it is available.
- Dammam port: it is on the Arabian Gulf, and a ship from it sails round the whole peninsula to reach the Red Sea. So we use it for Lebanon only for heavy goods in the Eastern Province whose road transport to Jeddah would cost more than the extra days at sea.
Read about container bookings on our sea freight page; for the port the Beirut sailings leave from, see international sea freight from Jeddah.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon

The aircraft is a fast alternative to the road: from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh or King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut in about two and a half hours’ flying. With collection from your address, clearance at both airports and delivery in Lebanon, the service is complete in two to 4 days. It is the only method that passes no land crossing and no seaport.
- What goes by air: documents and contracts, urgent parcels and luggage, phones and computers, spare parts, and traders’ samples.
- From outside Riyadh and Jeddah: a Madinah shipment leaves from its own airport or via Jeddah, and shipments from Dammam, Qassim, Tabuk and Abha are carried to the nearest airport with a suitable flight.
- Chargeable weight: the parcel is measured and weighed, and the greater of the actual and volumetric weights is what is paid for. Work it out beforehand with the volumetric weight calculator.
- Prices: from SAR 14 a kilogram at large weights, and an envelope of documents by express from SAR 83.
- Economy or express: economy waits for the nearest flight with space, so it adds a day or two and costs less; express travels on the first flight.
- Delivery to the address: after airport clearance the parcel reaches the consignee’s door in Beirut and the districts, or he collects it from the airport if he prefers.
- What the aircraft refuses: perfume in quantity, aerosols, batteries not fitted in a device, and any flammable liquid.
We do not recommend air for furniture and large appliances; the cost gap between it and the truck is wide. The service is on the air freight page.
Steps for shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
The road from the first call to the consignee’s signature has eight steps, and three of them are yours: sending the photos, preparing the papers, and being in Lebanon, you or your agent, on clearance day. The rest is ours:
- The request: a WhatsApp message with your city, photos of what you are shipping, and the town in Lebanon we deliver to.
- Choosing the method: we ask about the state of the crossings in your week, then suggest the truck, the container or the flight.
- The price by item: packing, transport, transit, clearance and delivery, each item with its figure.
- Checking the file: we read the embassy’s statement, or the invoice and certificate of origin, before we set the loading day.
- Loading day: dismantling, packing, numbering, inventory and photos, then sealing the truck or container in front of you.
- The road: the export declaration at the Saudi border post, then transit through Jordan and Syria, and a message from us after every border.
- Clearance in Lebanon: inspection, and the exemption applied or the duty paid, at Masnaa, the port or the airport.
- Delivery: carrying in and assembly, then matching the numbers to the list and signing the record.
Tracking, insurance, payment methods and customer service
After loading, three questions matter to you: where is the shipment, who compensates if it is damaged, and who answers when you call? Here is the answer to each on the Lebanon route:
- Tracking: a number for every shipment, and a message at six points: leaving your city, the Saudi border post, Jaber, Nassib, Masnaa, and delivery day. A container is followed by its number with the shipping line. It is explained on the track your shipment page.
- Insurance: optional; its premium is calculated on the declared value and it covers loss and damage on the way. We consider it necessary for anyone with expensive appliances or ornaments in the shipment. The covers are on the cargo insurance page.
- Our responsibility: whatever is broken or scratched by our crew’s hands during dismantling, packing, loading and unloading, we bear.
- A claim: the remark is written in the delivery record with photos attached, and compared with the photos taken before packing.
- Payment: by bank transfer, electronic payment or cash against a receipt, with the amount split between booking and delivery as the offer states.
- Customer service: one employee who knows your shipment answers in Arabic by phone and on WhatsApp from 7 am to 11 pm.
Shipping from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia
We serve the opposite direction by the same methods. A truck leaves through Masnaa and crosses Syria and Jordan to Haditha or Halat Ammar, a container sails from the Port of Beirut to Jeddah Islamic Port, and an air parcel flies from Rafic Hariri Airport to Riyadh or Jeddah. Our agent collects the shipment from the address in Lebanon, and we deliver it in any city in the Kingdom. Imports into the Kingdom have their own conditions: the personal furniture of someone arriving for work is cleared on his residence permit, and commercial goods pass through Saudi conformity and customs requirements, so we review the category and the papers before the shipment moves from Lebanon.
Tips before shipping to Lebanon
- Ask for the Lebanese embassy’s statement early; its appointment and attestation take longer than the packing does.
- Call things by their names in the list: “used 8 kg washing machine” is clearer to customs than “appliances”.
- Keep with you on the flight the passports, certificates, jewellery and your daily medicine.
- If your date is in winter, allow extra days for crossing Dahr el-Baidar, or choose a temporary address in the Bekaa.
- Find out your car’s charges in Lebanon from a broker there before deciding whether to ship it or sell it here.
- Book your ticket so that you reach Lebanon at least two days ahead of the truck.
- Measure the Lebanese home’s door, stairs and balcony, and tell us if the large pieces need a lift.
How do you choose a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon?
Comparing figures is not enough, because the offers on this route are not talking about the same thing. Put the following six questions to each company, and the answers show whether it knows the route or is selling a promise:
| Question | The answer of someone who knows the route | An answer that calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| When will the truck arrive? | A time range, after asking about the crossings | A fixed day, given on the spot |
| Which border post does it leave from? | Names the post and gives the reason | Does not know, or “it doesn’t matter” |
| Is my furniture exempt? | Asks for your papers, then answers | A flat yes before seeing anything |
| What does the price include? | Written items: transport, transit, clearance and delivery | A lump sum, or a large percentage off an unknown figure |
| Where do I take delivery? | Inside the home, with assembly | From the yard of the crossing or the port |
| Who are you, legally? | A commercial registration and a stamped collection receipt | A phone number and a personal account |
Common mistakes when shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
- Paying to ship a car whose year of manufacture turns out at the port to be outside what is allowed.
- Writing “household items” in the list, so that every carton is opened at inspection.
- Slipping a new phone or screen in its box into a shipment that claims the exemption.
- Leaving the Kingdom before receiving the attested embassy statement.
- Putting medicine, a radio device or a drone among the luggage without a licence.
- Building the home handover date or a job start on a road promise made without asking about the crossings.
- Accepting the lowest price and then discovering that clearance and distribution inside Lebanon are not in it.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon
How much does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon cost?
The lowest starting points on this route are SAR 55 for a small parcel by road, SAR 11 a kilogram in road groupage, SAR 920 for a shipment of luggage and cartons, SAR 1,195 for a bedroom, and SAR 3,700 for a small flat’s furniture. A car in a sea container is from SAR 2,800, and an air kilogram from SAR 14. The figure moves with the collection city in the Kingdom and the Lebanese district we deliver to. The number to ask on is 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon take?
A road truck needs 5 to 12 days door to door: Tabuk, Madinah and Riyadh sit at the short end of that range, and Jeddah, Makkah and Dammam at the long end. A flight delivers a parcel in two to 4 days. A sea container takes 12 to 22 days, of which 5 to 9 are sailing between Jeddah and Beirut.
What is the best way to ship to Lebanon: land, sea or air?
Each shipment has its own answer. A home’s furniture and bulky luggage go by road, because the truck loads at one door and unloads at the other. A car, or heavy cargo whose owner is in no hurry, goes in a container to the Port of Beirut. Documents, parcels and urgent suitcases fly to Rafic Hariri Airport.
Which border post does the truck leave the Kingdom from?
One of two, depending on your city. Trucks from Riyadh, Qassim, Hail and the Eastern Province exit at Haditha near Qurayyat. Trucks from Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk exit at Halat Ammar north of Tabuk. From either they continue to Jaber and Nassib, then Jdeidet Yabous and Masnaa, and we confirm the available route before shipping.
Do you collect from any city in the Kingdom?
Yes. We collect at the door in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif; in Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa; in Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and Tabuk; and in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. For cities far from the truck’s line, the shipment is first carried to the nearest consolidation point and then joins the trip.
Is the land route to Lebanon always open?
It is a working route, but its conditions are not fixed, because it passes three borders and six customs posts. So we ask about the state of the crossings in the week of your shipment before we fix a date, and the load may be transshipped in the yard of one crossing under the practice in force. If a road date cannot be met, we offer you the container or the flight.
Is a returning Lebanese national’s furniture exempt from customs?
The practice is that the furniture of a Lebanese national who lived outside the country for more than 3 years and has returned for good is exempt, once only. It is proved by a statement from the Lebanese embassy in the Kingdom and a list of contents the embassy attests, and the furniture must be used. We go over your papers with the broker before loading, because the deadlines and details change.
How much is the tax on new goods in Lebanon?
Goods bear a customs duty that differs from one category to another, and on top of it a value added tax of 11%. A rise to 12% had been announced without coming into application, so we ask what rate is in force on the day of your order. Goods of Saudi origin may be exempt from the customs duty with a valid certificate of origin.
Do you ship cars from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon?
Yes, in two ways. The first is a sea container from Jeddah Islamic Port to the Port of Beirut, starting from SAR 2,800 for a saloon car. The second is a road transporter through Jordan and Syria from SAR 4,140. Before booking we check the car’s age, since the practice in Lebanon is that customs refuse a used car built more than 8 years ago.
Which papers do I need to ship my furniture to Lebanon?
Your passport, a copy of the residence permit with the final exit visa if you are leaving, and a numbered, detailed list of contents. Whoever asks for the exemption adds the Lebanese embassy’s statement and proof of a home in Lebanon, a title deed or a tenancy contract. And if you will not attend clearance yourself, an authorisation for the broker.
Do you ship electrical and electronic appliances, and will they work in Lebanon?
We ship them by road or air in special packing: foam around the appliance, an anti-static bag for electronics, and a wooden crate for large screens. The supply in Lebanon is 220 volts, close to the Kingdom’s, so most appliances run without a transformer. Sockets come in several shapes there, though, so put an adaptor in the carton.
Which Lebanese cities do you deliver to?
To every governorate: Beirut and its suburbs; Jounieh, Jbeil, Metn, Keserwan, Aley and the Chouf in Mount Lebanon; Tripoli, Zgharta, Koura, Batroun and Akkar in the north; Sidon, Tyre and Nabatieh in the south; and Zahle, Chtaura and Baalbek in the Bekaa. Delivery is inside the home, with an external lift for upper floors when the stairs are too narrow.
How much is air freight from Saudi Arabia to Beirut?
A kilogram starts from SAR 14 at large weights, and an envelope of documents by express from SAR 83. A parcel is charged on the greater of its actual and volumetric weights. Delivery takes two to 4 days from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh or King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, and shipments from the other cities are carried to one of the two.
What may not be shipped to Lebanon?
We do not load weapons, ammunition, fireworks, narcotics, alcohol or counterfeit goods, nor gas cylinders, aerosols and highly flammable liquids. Some categories enter only with a permit: medicine with the approval of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, and radio and communication devices with a licence. Zamzam water is not shipped; the traveller carries it in its dedicated pack.
Do you ship in the opposite direction, from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia?
Yes. The service runs from Lebanon to the cities of the Kingdom by all three methods: a truck leaving through the Masnaa crossing, a container from the Port of Beirut to Jeddah port, and a flight from Rafic Hariri Airport. Whatever enters the Kingdom is checked against Saudi customs requirements, so we ask you about the category of the shipment before we collect it in Lebanon.
