What does international furniture moving from Jeddah mean?
It means that the furniture of your home leaves Jeddah, enters another country with sound paperwork and is delivered to your address there. It is not a local move over a longer distance. Travelling furniture passes export customs and import customs, spends days or weeks on the way and may be lifted by a port crane. So it needs more careful dismantling, sturdier packing and an inventory fit to be handed to a customs officer.
In Jeddah all three routes start in the city itself: the port is in it, the airport is in its north, and the truck roads lead north towards Jordan and east towards the Gulf. A general introduction to the service is on the furniture shipping page, and the Kingdom-wide picture is in the article on the international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia.
Who moves furniture from Jeddah to other countries?
Jeddah is a city of residents, traders and company staff, and four groups ask for this service most. Each has a typical volume and paperwork of its own.
| Owner of the furniture | What they usually move | Likeliest method | Their main question |
|---|---|---|---|
| An Arab resident whose job in Jeddah has ended | A whole home with its appliances | A dedicated truck to the Levant; a container to the Maghreb | The returnee’s furniture exemption at home |
| An employee transferred to Dubai, Doha or Manama | The furniture of a flat and personal effects | A dedicated or shared truck | An arrival day that matches the handover of the new home |
| A Saudi family moving for study or work | Bedrooms, cartons and a car | A container, plus a small air shipment | What is exempt and what is dutiable in the country of study |
| A company, a consulate or an office | Desks, cabinets and files | A dedicated truck or container | An exact inventory and delivery on a set day |
The survey, the details we ask for and the crew that comes
The first things we ask you for are four details: the address of the home in Jeddah and the floor you live on, the city and address in the destination country, a description or photos of the furniture, and the day you want it loaded. With these we know which route suits your destination and when the furniture must leave to arrive on your date.
Then comes the survey: a visit to the home, or a video call in which you walk the camera through the rooms. The surveyor leaves with three figures: the volume of the furniture in cubic metres after dismantling, the expected number of cartons and the number of working days. He also notes what needs care: a cabinet that only leaves through the door in pieces, a kitchen fixed to the wall, and air conditioners that need a technician.
That decides who comes on packing day:
- A carpenter for dismantling and assembly: for bedrooms, bookcases, cabinets and tables.
- A kitchen fitter: when the kitchen is shipped, to take its units apart and number them by their place on the wall.
- Packing and loading hands: they wrap, fill the cartons and carry the pieces down to the truck.
- A cooling technician: to remove the air conditioners after pumping the gas down into the outdoor unit.
- A supervisor: he writes the inventory and goes through it with you piece by piece.
Dismantling bedrooms, bookcases and cabinets before packing
Dismantling is not only for convenience; it decides how much you pay. A six-door wardrobe takes up more than two cubic metres standing and less than half of that in pieces, with no hinge breaking and no door swinging open on the way. So every piece that can be dismantled is taken down to its panels: the bed to a headboard, two sides and a base; the bookcase to sides, shelves and a back; the cabinet to doors, drawers and a frame.
The carpenter keeps three things in order. He photographs the assembled piece before touching it. He puts its screws and hinges in a bag that carries its number and tapes the bag to its largest panel. And he writes a letter on the edge of each panel to show where it goes. With those three, a fitter who has never seen the piece can assemble it in the destination country. What does not come apart at all, such as sofas and glued cabinets, is wrapped as it is.
Packing and inventorying furniture in Jeddah homes

Packing starts in the room furthest from the door and ends at the entrance, so the pieces come out in loading order. The rule is that furniture is packed for the longest leg of its journey. Furniture going in a container to Casablanca needs packing that withstands the crane, the roll of the ship and three weeks of humidity.
Types of packing and what each one suits
| Type of packing | What it is | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary soft wrapping | Thin foam or moving blankets, then stretch film | Sofas, mattresses and painted wood, sometimes in more than one layer on a single piece |
| Bubble wrap | Rolls of plastic with air bubbles | Glass, glossy wooden surfaces and anything that scratches |
| Cardboard packing | Corrugated board, stiff paper and double-wall cartons | Clothes, books, valuables and panel edges |
| Double packing | Bubble wrap inside and cardboard outside | Kitchenware and sensitive electronics |
| A wooden crate or frame | Timber boards cut to the size of the piece | Marble, large mirrors, screens and ornaments |
Packing paintings and mirrors
A painting and a mirror are what break most in a move, because they are wide and thin. Their four corners are protected with pieces of stiff cardboard, tape is stuck across the glass in a cross to hold the fragments if it cracks, then they are wrapped in bubble wrap and placed between two boards. They travel standing on edge, resting against the wall of the truck or the container, with nothing placed on top of them.
Cartons arranged by room
The contents of two rooms are never mixed in one carton. On two sides of each carton we write the name of its room, its number and a short description of what is inside: “Kitchen 4: cups and plates”. That way each carton goes to its own room in the new home, and you open what you need first.
Numbering and the inventory
Every piece and every carton has a numbered label, and every number has a line on the inventory with the description, the room and the condition before shipping. The inventory is used three times: the furniture is counted against it at loading and at delivery, it is presented to customs in both countries, and the insurance is built on it. You sign it with the supervisor before the truck moves and take your copy. The materials are explained in the packing guide, and what you prepare yourself before the crew arrives is in the article on packing furniture for a move.
Ways to move furniture abroad from Jeddah: land, sea and air
In most cases the destination picks the route. Whatever is linked to the Kingdom by a paved road goes by truck, whatever is separated from it by sea goes by container, and the plane carries the little that is urgent. The table shows where each route is used from Jeddah.
| Route | Where to from Jeddah | Unit of charge | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closed truck | The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq | The room, the cubic metre or the truck | Every volume, from a room to a villa |
| Truck then ferry | Egypt | The carton, the room or the shipment | Returnees’ furniture and appliances |
| Full container | Turkey, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Europe and America | The container | A flat or a whole house |
| Shared container | The same ports | The cubic metre | A room or two and cartons |
| Plane | Every destination | The chargeable kilogram | Personal effects and an urgent piece |
Many people in Jeddah ask: since the port is close, why not ship furniture for Dubai or Kuwait by sea? Because Jeddah port is on the Red Sea and the Gulf ports are on the opposite side of the Arabian Peninsula, so the ship sails all the way round it. The truck arrives within days and unloads at the door, and there is no comparison. The differences between the routes are set out on the shipping methods comparison page.
Furniture trucks from Jeddah to the Gulf and Jordan

This is what Jeddah asks for most. The closed truck stops at your home, is loaded and locked, then drives to the crossing, and nothing is taken off it before the consignee’s address. From Jeddah the trucks for the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain head east through Riyadh or Qassim, and the trucks for Jordan head north through Madinah and Tabuk.
| Destination | Crossing | Door-to-door time | Delivery cities |
|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | Batha, then Al Ghuwaifat | 4–6 days | Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah |
| Qatar | Salwa, then Abu Samra | 3–8 days | Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah and Al Khor |
| Kuwait | Ar Ruqi then Salmi, or Khafji then Nuwaiseeb | 3–8 days | Kuwait City, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Ahmadi and Jahra |
| Bahrain | King Fahd Causeway from Khobar | 2–6 days | Manama, Muharraq, Riffa and Isa Town |
| Oman | Rub’ al-Khali, or Batha via the UAE | 5–8 days | Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa and Salalah |
| Jordan | Haditha then Al-Omari, or Halat Ammar then Mudawwara | 3–5 days | Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Aqaba |
Most furniture bound for Amman, Zarqa and Irbid enters Jordan through Haditha, the largest crossing between the two countries, facing the Al-Omari post. The Halat Ammar crossing north of Tabuk is nearer to Jeddah, and we take it when delivery is in Aqaba, Ma’an or the south of Jordan. For the Rub’ al-Khali crossing to Oman we confirm on booking day that it is operating for trucks; the alternative is the Batha road.
Strapped down inside the truck
It is about two thousand kilometres from Jeddah to Dubai, and every sudden stop pushes the load forwards. So the heavy, sturdy pieces are stacked at the front of the box and at the bottom, each group is strapped to the wall rails, and a blanket goes between any two surfaces that touch. No gap is left: whatever space remains is filled with light cartons and cushions.
A dedicated truck or a shared one?
Volume and timing decide it: furniture that fills more than half the truck, or a delivery day that cannot slip, means a dedicated truck, while a room and a few appliances are fine in a shared one.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | The furniture of a flat, a villa or an office | A bedroom, a sitting room and cartons |
| Leaving Jeddah | On loading day itself | Once the load is complete, usually one to 3 days |
| Charging | The hire of the truck by its size | By the room or the cubic metre |
How the road service works is set out under land freight; for all six Gulf countries side by side, read shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states.
Moving furniture from Jeddah to Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt
These are four land destinations, each with its own particulars. For Syria the truck crosses Jordan and enters through the Nassib crossing, reaching Damascus in 5 to 8 days. For Lebanon it continues across Syria to the Masnaa crossing in 6 to 10 days, and Lebanon has a second option: a container from Jeddah port to the port of Beirut. Conditions at the crossings on this line change, and the cargo may be transferred from one truck to another at one of them, so depending on the state of the crossings we confirm the available route before shipping.
For Iraq the truck heads through Hail to the Jadidat Arar crossing and reaches Baghdad in 5 to 8 days as a dedicated truck. Egypt has no continuous road. The truck drives north to the port of Duba, boards the ferry with its load and drives off at Safaga, Nuweiba or Hurghada, where clearance takes place; it then continues to the warehouse in Egypt and the furniture is distributed in smaller vehicles. The time to the door is 7 to 12 days. The articles for these destinations: Jeddah to Syria, Jeddah to Lebanon, Jeddah to Iraq and Jeddah to Egypt.
Loading the furniture container at Jeddah Islamic Port

Everything bound overseas leaves from Jeddah Islamic Port, which is inside the city, so there is no long road haul before the quay. Loading is done in one of two ways. If your street is wide enough for the container truck, it comes to the house and is loaded and sealed in front of you. If not, the furniture is taken in smaller vehicles to the warehouse and the container is loaded there, and you may attend the sealing. The container then enters the port yard and waits for its ship.
| Option | Packed furniture it holds | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 20ft container | About 25–28 m³ | A two-to-three-bedroom flat |
| 40ft container | About 55–60 m³ | A villa, or a flat together with a car |
| Shared container | The cubic metres you book | A bedroom, cartons and an appliance or two |
A full container or a shared one
A full container is closed in Jeddah and not opened until it arrives, so no hand touches your furniture between the two homes. In a shared one several shipments are grouped at the consolidation warehouse and then sorted at the arrival port, which means two extra handlings and a wait until it fills. That is why furniture in it is packed more sturdily. The dividing line is practical: below 12 to 15 cubic metres goes shared, and above that the 20ft container becomes the cheaper choice.
Inside the container the furniture is built up in rows from floor to roof, each row is strapped to the container’s lashing rings, and the last row is closed off with a timber barrier at the door. Because Jeddah’s air is humid and salty, moisture-absorbing bags are hung to protect wood and fabric. Container dimensions are on the container sizes page, and the service is described in the article on international sea freight from Jeddah.
Prices for international furniture moving from Jeddah
The figures below are Home Safe’s starting prices from Jeddah specifically, the same ones published in each destination’s article. The final price is calculated after the survey on the packed volume of your furniture, the delivery city and the services you ask for.

The figure for Jordan and Syria in the first column is for a shipment of personal effects and cartons in a shared load, and the figure in the last column for those two and for Lebanon is for the furniture of a large flat in a full truck. A cubic metre in a shared truck starts from SAR 550 to Bahrain and Qatar.
By container from Jeddah port
| Destination | Cubic metre in a shared container | A bedroom or a part shipment of furniture | 20ft container | 40ft container |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turkey | SAR 415 | SAR 1,100 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 5,200 |

| United Kingdom | Set on request | Set on request | Furniture of a whole home in a dedicated container: SAR 11,000 | |
The container figures to Turkey, North Africa, Aqaba and Beirut are the ocean freight from Jeddah port; dismantling, packing, haulage to the port and arrival-port charges are added according to the shipment. Shipping-line rates move from month to month, so the figure is fixed on booking day. The container table in detail is in the article on container shipping prices from Jeddah.
Market prices for international furniture moving from Jeddah are hardly ever published. The pages we reviewed promise the cheapest price and discounts without a single figure and ask you to call, and some list destinations from Egypt to Turkey with no transit time and no cost item. So there is no published tariff to measure against, and the right comparison is between two itemised offers for the same volume and the same services.
What raises or lowers the price?
| Factor | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Volume after dismantling and packing | The basis of the charge by land and by sea |
| Destination country and city | Bahrain and Kuwait cost less than Oman, and the capital less than outlying areas |
| Dedicated or shared | Dedicated is dearer and quicker; shared is cheaper and slower |
| The floor and the building entrance in Jeddah | A high floor with no lift, or a narrow street, means a hoist or a shuttle vehicle |
| Where the service ends | To the crossing or the port costs less; to the door with clearance and reassembly covers more |
How do you cut the cost?
- Move what is worth it: sell in Jeddah any piece whose shipping costs as much as buying its like at home; the second-hand market here is active.
- Allow full dismantling: every panel taken apart takes cubic metres off the bill.
- Share when your date allows: the few days a shared load waits are worth a clear difference.
- Stay away from the peak weeks: the end of the school year and the weeks after Hajj are when demand from Jeddah is heaviest.
- Ask for itemised costs: packing, clearance, delivery and reassembly, each with its own price.
A fuller explanation is on the pricing factors page, and you can work out your volume with the CBM calculator.
How long does furniture take to arrive from Jeddah?
The time is counted from loading day in Jeddah to delivery day in the new home. Land transit times are in the truck table above, and these are the door-to-door times for a full container.
| Destination | Arrival port | Approximate time to the door |
|---|---|---|
| Jordan and Lebanon | Aqaba, and the port of Beirut | 8–14 days, and 12–20 days |
| Turkey | Mersin, as well as Iskenderun, Izmir and Ambarli | 18–28 days to Mersin |
| Libya | Misrata, Benghazi or Tripoli | 14–30 days |
| Tunisia and Algeria | Rades; Algiers, Oran and Annaba | 20–35 days |
| Morocco | Casablanca or Tanger Med | 20–32 days |
| Europe and the United Kingdom | Mediterranean and northern ports | 12–20 days for the Mediterranean, 25–40 days for the north |
What lengthens the transit time?
- An inventory that does not match the load: one unlisted carton is enough for the rest to be opened at the crossing.
- A missing exemption paper: the container stays in the arrival port and storage charges build up.
- Waiting for a shared load to fill: especially to a city with little demand.
Transit times for the other services are on the transit times page.
What sets furniture moving from Jeddah apart?
Someone living in Jeddah pays no road haul to the coast: the empty container leaves the port yard in the morning and returns to it loaded the same day. But the city has its own conditions, and we plan the work around them:
- Truck hours: the traffic authority restricts heavy trucks at peak times on some roads, so we set the loading hour by what is permitted that day.
- The old districts: Al-Balad, Al-Kandarah and Al-Baghdadiyah have lanes no truck can enter, so a small vehicle shuttles the furniture to where the large one waits.
- Humidity: furniture is packed and loaded on the same day wherever possible, and is not left wrapped in plastic for days in a place without air conditioning.
- The Hajj season: the roads between Jeddah, Makkah and the airport are congested, so we keep loading dates away from the peak days.
Anyone comparing offices in the city will find help in the article on international shipping companies in Jeddah.
Shipping electrical appliances: the fridge, the television, screens and the air conditioner
Appliances are the heaviest and most sensitive things in the home, and preparing them starts a day before the crew arrives. Each has its own method:
- Shipping a fridge: it is unplugged and emptied 24 hours ahead and dried out, its shelves are taped in place, and it travels upright. After arrival it is left for some hours before being switched on.
- Shipping a television and screens: the original carton with its polystyrene protects them best. If there is none, a foam-lined crate is made to size, and a screen is never laid on its face.
- The washing machine: its drum is fixed with the transit bolts it came with, and its hose is drained.
- The air conditioner: the technician pumps the gas down into the outdoor unit and caps the pipe openings, and the two units are packed separately.
Before you decide, read the rating plate on the back of each appliance. Voltage, frequency and plug type differ between the Kingdom and some countries, and an appliance that needs a permanent transformer may not deserve its place in the truck.
Moving goods for traders, office furniture and showroom stock
A furniture trader in Jeddah selling to a customer in the Gulf, and a showroom owner supplying bedrooms to a project in Amman, need the same truck with different papers. New goods are not treated as household furniture: they have a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin, and they pay duty in the destination country according to their category. So we do not enter new furniture on an inventory of used furniture.
Company furniture has its desks and cabinets numbered by department, and its files are loaded in cartons closed with signed tape. Goods shipping is explained on the commercial shipping page.
Shipping the car with the household furniture
Most people leaving Jeddah for good take the car with them, and arranging it with the furniture saves a date and a set of formalities. By road it is loaded on a car carrier and goes through the crossing the furniture truck uses, starting from SAR 1,010 to Bahrain, from SAR 2,300 to Kuwait and Jordan and from SAR 2,350 to the UAE. By sea it has two options: to go into a 40ft container with the furniture, lashed by its wheels with a barrier between the two, or to be driven onto a RoRo vessel uncovered and empty of belongings, which starts from SAR 2,800 for a saloon.
A used car is more tightly restricted than furniture in every country: a maximum age, conformity with specifications, and duties that differ from those on personal effects. So we check its year of manufacture against the practice in force in your country before any booking. The service is on the car shipping page, and the guide is in the article on car shipping from Saudi Arabia.
Customs exemptions for returnees’ furniture from Jeddah
Customs in most countries exempt the furniture of someone moving residence, but not on their word alone. They want proof that you lived abroad, that the furniture is used and from your home, and that it arrived within a period close to your own arrival. The table summarises the practice in the destinations Jeddah moves to most; these rules are amended, so we confirm what is in force for your case before shipping.
| Destination country | Practice for a returnee’s furniture | What is usually asked for |
|---|---|---|
| Gulf states | Used household furniture and personal effects are exempt | Proof of residence in the destination country and an inventory |
| Jordan | An exemption for a Jordanian returning after a year or more abroad | A passport with a cancelled residence permit, a tenancy contract or title deed, and arrival of the furniture within six months |
| Lebanon | An exemption for those who lived abroad for three years or more | A list authenticated by the embassy and the owner present |
| Egypt | Used furniture is among the exempt cases, under controls | Electrical appliances are examined and valued one by one |
| Turkey | An exemption for the holder of a residence or work permit | A one-year tenancy contract or a title deed, and arrival of the furniture within the set window around the date of entry |
| Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria | Schemes for citizens returning for good | A change-of-residence certificate and a list authenticated by the consulate |
| European Union countries and the United Kingdom | Transfer-of-residence relief | Prior residence outside the country, ownership and use of the furniture before the move, and in the UK an application made ahead of the shipment |
In all these countries anything new in its box does not come under the furniture exemption, and duplicates of the same item make the officer stop. Clearance in the destination country is handled by our partner agent there. The general procedure is on the customs clearance page.
Documents required to move furniture from Jeddah
We ask for copies of the papers before loading day, not after it, so that we can check them against your country’s conditions while the furniture is still in your home.
| Document | Who needs it | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Residence permit or national ID, and passport | Every shipper | Valid on shipping day |
| Final exit visa | A resident leaving for good | Proves the return to his own country’s customs |
| Numbered inventory | Every shipment | We write it during packing and you sign it |
| Proof of a home in the destination country | Anyone claiming the exemption | A tenancy contract, a title deed or a residence permit |
| Power of attorney for the consignee | Anyone not attending delivery | Some countries require the owner in person |
| The car’s registration and export certificate | Anyone shipping a car | After fines are paid |
| Bill of lading and export declaration | Every shipment | Our work |
Sample forms are on the shipping documents page.
What does not go into a furniture shipment
The crew empties drawers and cupboards before dismantling; even so, it is best to take these items out yourself before it arrives, as some of them stop the whole shipment at the crossing.
| Item | Status | What to do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Gas cylinders, paints, solvents and pesticides | Not shipped by any route | Left in Jeddah |
| Gold, cash, passports and deeds | Not shipped | In your hand luggage |
| Medicines | Restricted | A personal quantity with its prescription, with you and not in the cartons |
| Opened and perishable food | Does not survive the journey | Used up or given away |
| Loose batteries, aerosols and perfume in quantity | Do not fly, and are restricted by land and sea | Kept out of the air shipment |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped with personal effects | The traveller’s dedicated pack at the airport |
The full list is on the prohibited items page.
Air freight from Jeddah via King Abdulaziz Airport

A plane does not move a home, but it bridges the wait. Someone moving from Jeddah to Europe waits a month for the container, and the family needs its clothes and laptops in the meantime. So the shipment is split: suitcases and a few cartons by air from King Abdulaziz Airport, and the rest of the home by the cheaper route. The service is for personal effects and urgent pieces with delivery to the door, reaching the Gulf and Jordan in one to 3 days and Europe in 3 to 6 days.
The charge is by the chargeable kilogram, the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. A kilogram starts from SAR 14 to the Gulf states, Jordan and Lebanon, from SAR 23 to Europe, from SAR 26 to the United Kingdom and from SAR 28 to North Africa, and an express document envelope from SAR 83. That is why a wardrobe does not fly: its volume alone makes the cost higher than its value.
- Goes by air: suitcases of clothes, laptops, papers, a dismantled cot, and a small valuable painting or ornament.
- Does not go by air: sofas, wardrobes and heavy appliances.
- Banned on the aircraft: loose batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids.
The volumetric weight calculator gives your chargeable weight in a minute; for how the service runs see air freight, and for the Jeddah desk itself the air freight office in Jeddah article.
Storing furniture temporarily in Jeddah
The date you hand back the flat in Jeddah rarely matches the date you take over the home abroad. Anyone whose lease ends before the new address is settled leaves the furniture with us, packed and numbered, travels, and asks for it to be shipped once settled. It is taken to the warehouse in closed vehicles, and everything stays on its inventory.
A small space starts from SAR 185 a month and the furniture of a flat from SAR 600. If the shipment reaches the destination country before you do, storage there is arranged by the partner agent and priced on request. The terms of the service are on the storage page, and details of the warehouse are in the article on the furniture storage company in Jeddah.
Delivery, reassembly and arranging the new home
After clearance the partner agent in the destination country calls you to set a time, then the truck arrives at your address. The pieces are unloaded and carried inside, and each carton goes to the room written on it. What was dismantled in Jeddah is then reassembled with the help of the photos and the letters written on the panels: beds first, because you will sleep on them that night, then wardrobes, tables and bookcases.
The pieces are placed where you point. Anyone with a floor plan of the new home sends it before arrival. At the end the pieces are counted against the inventory and you sign the delivery record. Does the agreement include carrying upstairs, reassembly and removal of the packing waste? That is settled in the booking confirmation, not at the door. The service is on the door to door page.
Collection from Jeddah districts and nearby towns
We collect furniture from every district of Jeddah, and the way of loading differs from one district to another with the street and the building.
| Area | Districts and places | How we collect |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | Obhur, Al-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, Al-Naeem and Al-Basateen | A truck at the building, with the service lift arranged in towers |
| Central Jeddah | Al-Rawdah, Al-Zahra, Al-Salamah, Al-Khalidiyah and Al-Hamra | A medium truck, loading in the permitted hours |
| East Jeddah | Al-Safa, Al-Marwah, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Samer and Al-Hamdaniyah | A truck or a small vehicle, depending on the width of the street |
| Al-Balad and south Jeddah | Al-Balad, Al-Kandarah, Al-Baghdadiyah, Al-Jamiah and Al-Sanabel | A small vehicle for the lanes, then transfer to the truck |
| Makkah and Bahrah | About 80 km | At a time that fits the truck entry hours |
| Thuwal, Rabigh and Taif | 80 to 170 km | A closed truck comes down to Jeddah by prior appointment |
If your furniture is in another city, the service is the same by a different route. From Dammam the trucks leave for Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE through the nearby crossings, for Jordan and Syria to the north, and for Egypt by the ferry; the details are in the article on the international shipping company in Dammam. For people in the capital there is the article on the international furniture moving company from Riyadh. The other cities are on the cities page.
Steps of international furniture moving from Jeddah
- The call: you tell us your district in Jeddah, the destination country and city, and your approximate date.
- The survey: a visit or a video call, giving the volume of the furniture and the care it needs.
- Price and route: you receive the itemised price with the suggested route and the transit time.
- Papers: you send copies; we check them against your country’s conditions and tell you what is missing.
- Working day: dismantling, packing and numbering, an inventory you sign, then loading.
- The journey: a truck to the crossing or a container to the port, with a message at each stage.
- Clearance: export from the Kingdom, then import handled by the partner agent with you present or by your power of attorney.
- Delivery: unloading, reassembly and a count against the inventory, then signing the delivery record.
Tracking the shipment and insuring it
Your shipment is given a reference number on loading day, and a message reaches you at each move: the truck leaving Jeddah, crossing the border or the container entering the port, the ship sailing and arriving, clearance completed, and the delivery time.
Insurance covers what nobody controls: a road accident or heavy seas. It is calculated as a percentage of the value you write on the inventory and compensates for loss and damage under the policy’s terms and exclusions. So write the real value of valuable pieces, and note any damage on the delivery record at the moment of delivery. More on the cargo insurance and tracking pages.
Tips before packing day in Jeddah
- Book the service lift and a parking spot for the truck: speak to the building management two days ahead, as some buildings set hours for moves.
- Set aside what travels with you: put it in one room and lock it, so that the passport does not end up in a carton.
- Keep a copy of the inventory with you: on paper and on your phone; you will be asked for it at the crossing, at the port and on delivery.
How do you choose an international furniture moving company in Jeddah?
Many removal vans in Jeddah work inside the city and write “international” on their advert. The difference shows in a few questions you ask before you pay.
| Ask about | A reassuring answer | A warning answer |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial registration | A registration number, an address and an invoice in the establishment’s name | A mobile number and a transfer to a personal account |
| How the price is set | A survey, then an itemised price | A figure over the phone without seeing the furniture |
| The route | Names the crossing or the port and the transit time | “It will get there, God willing”, with no detail |
| Who receives it in the destination country | An agent who clears, unloads and reassembles | Collecting from the port is left to you |
| Customs | Asks about your papers and checks them | Guarantees the exemption before seeing them |
| The inventory | Numbered, signed, with a copy for you | Loading without a sheet of paper |
Common mistakes in international furniture moving
- Agreeing with a local mover on a “drop” at the crossing, then looking there for someone to finish the journey.
- Filling the cartons before the crew arrives and closing them with no description, so all of them are opened at inspection.
- Slipping new appliances in their boxes among used furniture in the hope of the exemption.
- Writing a token value on the inventory, then expecting full compensation for damage.
- Forgetting jewellery or official papers in the drawer of a loaded wardrobe.
- Handing the flat back to the landlord on loading day itself, leaving no time for any delay.
- Not measuring the lift and the door of the new home, so the cabinet arrives and does not go in.
Why Home Safe to move your furniture from Jeddah?
Because we are in Jeddah, and the furniture is dismantled, packed and loaded by one crew that knows its districts, its port and its airport. What marks the crew out is order: a survey before the price, a photo before dismantling and a list before loading. And we tell you plainly what is not in our hands: the customs decision in your country, the ship’s schedule and the state of the crossing.

Frequently asked questions about international furniture moving in Jeddah
How much does international furniture moving from Jeddah cost?
By truck from Jeddah, a bedroom starts from SAR 920 to Kuwait and Lebanon, from SAR 1,100 to Bahrain, from SAR 2,000 to Qatar and from SAR 2,300 to Muscat. In a shared container from Jeddah port, a cubic metre starts from SAR 415 to Turkey, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, and a 20ft container from SAR 4,600. For a price on your own list: 0552803439.
How many days does my furniture need to arrive from Jeddah?
A truck reaches Bahrain in two to 6 days, Jordan in 3 to 5 days, the UAE in 4 to 6 days, and Qatar and Kuwait in 3 to 8 days. A container reaches Mersin in 18 to 28 days, North African ports in 14 to 35 days and northern Europe in 25 to 40 days. These are door-to-door times, and the longer end applies to anyone sharing a load.
Does your crew come to my home in Jeddah to dismantle and pack?
Yes. The crew arrives at the agreed time with its dismantling tools and packing materials, takes apart the beds, wardrobes and bookcases, wraps each piece in what suits it, numbers it and enters it on the inventory.
Should I ship my furniture from Jeddah to the Gulf by sea, since the port is in the city?
We do not recommend it. Jeddah port is on the Red Sea and the Gulf ports are on the other side of the Arabian Peninsula, so the ship sails all the way round it. A closed truck arrives within a few days and unloads at the door, which leaves the port for whatever lies beyond the sea.
What is the difference between a full container and a shared one for household furniture?
A full container is yours alone: it is filled and closed with a numbered seal in Jeddah and opened only in the destination country. A shared one groups your furniture with other people’s shipments to the same port, and you pay by the cubic metre. The first suits a flat or a house; the second is cheaper for someone with a room or two and no hurry.
Do you reassemble the furniture in the new home abroad?
Reassembly in the destination country is done by the crew of our partner agent there and covers what we took apart in Jeddah: beds, wardrobes, tables and bookcases. Whether the service ends at the building entrance or includes carrying upstairs and reassembly is written in the booking confirmation before loading.
Do you ship the fridge, the washing machine and screens with the furniture?
Yes. The fridge is unplugged a day before loading, dried and moved upright; the washing machine has its drum fixed with the transit bolts; and a screen goes back into its original carton or has a foam-lined crate made for it. Before that, check the voltage and the plug type in your country.
Is my used furniture exempt from customs duty in the destination country?
In most countries yes, on conditions. Usually the furniture must be used and amount to one household, you must prove you are moving your residence, and it must arrive within a set period of your entry. The details change, so we check your papers against the practice in force in your country before anything is packed.
Which papers should I prepare before loading day in Jeddah?
A copy of your residence permit or ID and your passport, the final exit visa if you are leaving for good, and proof of your home in the destination country such as a tenancy contract or a residence permit. The inventory, the bill of lading and the export declaration are our work.
Can the furniture be stored in Jeddah until my home abroad is ready?
Yes. The furniture stays in the warehouse in Jeddah, packed and numbered, until you ask for it to be shipped. A small space starts from SAR 185 a month and the furniture of a flat from SAR 600.
Do you move the car together with the household furniture from Jeddah?
Yes. To the Gulf and Jordan the car travels on a separate car carrier through the same crossing, starting from SAR 1,010 to Bahrain and from SAR 2,300 to Kuwait and Jordan. By sea it goes into a 40ft container with the furniture or travels on its own by RoRo vessel from SAR 2,800 for a saloon.
Do you move just a few pieces or a single room from Jeddah?
Yes, in a shared load. The room is dismantled and packed and takes its place in a truck or a container with shipments to the same country, and you pay for its volume. Waiting for the load to fill up is usually one to 3 days for a truck and longer for a container.
How far ahead of my departure from Jeddah should I book?
For a truck, one to two weeks before loading day is enough. For a container, three weeks to a month, because its place on the ship is booked before it is filled. At the end of the school year and after the Hajj season many people leave Jeddah, so start earlier.
Which Jeddah districts do you collect furniture from?
From every district of the city: Obhur, Al-Shati and Al-Mohammadiyah in the north; Al-Rawdah, Al-Zahra and Al-Salamah in the centre; Al-Safa, Al-Marwah and Al-Samer in the east; Al-Balad and Al-Jamiah in the south. We also collect from Makkah, Bahrah, Thuwal, Rabigh and Taif by prior appointment.
Does international furniture moving from Jeddah include insurance?
Insurance is optional and we recommend it, especially for a container that spends weeks at sea. It is calculated as a percentage of the value you write on the inventory and covers loss and damage in transit under the terms of the policy. The limits of our liability for our crew’s work are written in the booking confirmation.
