Who ships from Jeddah to Turkey, and what do they ship?
Jeddah ships more to Turkey than any other city in the Kingdom, because the vessel starts its voyage from the city’s own quay. Those who ask us for the service fall into groups: a Turkish national who has finished a work contract in Jeddah and is taking the household home, a Saudi who has bought a flat in Istanbul or a house in Bursa and is furnishing it from here, a scholarship student, a Turkish Umrah pilgrim whose purchases exceed the airline allowance, and an exporting trader. Each of them has a different method:
| Shipper | What they usually send | What we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| A Turkish national returning after years of work | The whole household, appliances and perhaps a car | A 40ft container taking furniture and car together |
| A Saudi who owns property in Turkey | Bedrooms, a sitting room, furnishings and ornaments | A 20ft container, or a shared container for a small load |
| A student or a seconded employee | Suitcases, books and cartons of clothes | An air parcel, or a cubic metre by sea |
| A Turkish Umrah or Hajj pilgrim | Gifts, prayer rugs, dates and clothes | An air parcel from Jeddah airport |
| An exporter or a factory owner | Dates, plastics and assorted goods | A full container on a regular schedule |
| Someone with an urgent matter | Documents, contracts, samples and spare parts | Express air |
The route from Jeddah to Turkey and how long it takes
A shipment from Jeddah is not preceded by a long road journey as in other cities; the distance between your home and the port gate is covered inside the city. After that the vessel heads north in the Red Sea, passes through the Suez Canal and enters the eastern Mediterranean, where Turkey’s southern coast lies. The time we quote runs from the day of loading in your district to the day of delivery, and these are its parts for a full container:
| Part | What happens | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Loading day in Jeddah | Dismantling, packing and numbering, then closing and sealing the container | One day; two for a large house |
| Inside Jeddah Islamic Port | Export declaration, entry to the line’s yard and waiting for the vessel | 3–7 days |
| On the water | The Red Sea, the Suez Canal, then the eastern Mediterranean | 7–12 days without a change of vessel |
| At the Turkish port | Import declaration, inspection and payment of what is due | 3–5 working days |
| The road to the consignee | A Turkish truck from the quay to the city | 1–3 days |
Not every shipment is a full container to Mersin. The time lengthens or shortens with the method you choose and the port where your shipment is discharged, and this is the full picture:
| Method | From where to where | Door-to-door time | For which shipment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full container to Mersin | Jeddah port → Suez → Mersin | 15–25 days | A whole house or wholesale goods |
| Full container to Istanbul | Then the Aegean and Marmara to Ambarli | 19–29 days | Istanbul, Bursa and their surroundings |
| Shared container | Consolidated at the Jeddah warehouse, then sails | 22–37 days | Cartons and one or two rooms |
| RoRo for cars | Jeddah port → Mersin | 15–25 days | A car that runs under its own power |
| Air | King Abdulaziz Airport → Istanbul | 2–4 days | Parcels, documents and urgent luggage |
What lengthens the time?
- A change of vessel on the way: not every voyage is direct, and when the container moves to a second vessel at an intermediate port the sailing approaches three weeks.
- Missing the cut-off: the vessel has an hour after which its lists close, and a late container waits for the next sailing a week or two later.
- The consignee’s papers in Turkey: a residence permit not yet issued or an unnotarised contract keeps the container on the quay.
- The season: after Hajj and at the start of summer, shippers to Turkey multiply and space tightens.
Times for the other destinations are on the transit times page.
Shipping prices from Jeddah to Turkey
A shipper in Jeddah saves an item that others pay: moving the container between cities to the port. What remains on the bill is collection and packing inside the city, the sea or air freight, and then the services in Turkey if delivery to the flat is wanted. We write each item on its own line, so no amount surprises you on arrival. These are our starting prices:
| Shipment | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| A cubic metre | Shared container | SAR 415 |
| Per kilogram above 100 kg | Consolidated sea freight | SAR 4.15 |
| A bedroom | Shared container | SAR 1,100 |
| A 20ft container | Sea freight from Jeddah port | SAR 4,600 |
| A 40ft container | Sea freight from Jeddah port | SAR 5,200 |
| A saloon car | RoRo to Mersin | SAR 2,800 |
| A document envelope up to one kilogram | Express air | SAR 83 |
| A parcel up to 5 kg | Air | SAR 110 |
| A parcel between 5 and 20 kg | Air | SAR 200 |
| A shipment weighing 50 kg | Air | SAR 1,100 |
| 300 kg and above | Air | SAR 17 per kilogram |
| Collection inside Jeddah, and clearance and delivery in Turkey | By volume and city | Set on request |
Market prices on this route are far apart. By air: documents between SAR 90 and 150, a parcel up to 5 kg between SAR 120 and 330, a carton of clothes of 5 to 20 kg between SAR 220 and 750, and a kilogram in express parcels between SAR 65 and 150. By sea: parcels up to 50 kg between SAR 450 and 1,100, furniture weighing 50 to 250 kg between SAR 1,500 and 4,000, a 20ft container between SAR 4,000 and 8,500, a 40ft container between SAR 5,000 and 12,000, and a car between SAR 3,000 and 7,500. The gap exists because some figures are sea freight only and others include packing and clearance, so always ask what the figure covers.
| Factor | How it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Sea or air | A container is cheaper per metre; an aircraft costs more per kilogram and is weeks faster |
| Volume of the shipment | Measured in cubic metres by sea. Estimate it with the volume calculator before you call |
| Port of arrival | Freight to Mersin is usually lower than to Istanbul and Izmir |
| Where the service ends | At the Turkish quay, or inside the flat after clearance |
| The work you ask for | Dismantling and assembly, wooden crates, storage and insurance |
| Time of booking | Line rates rise at the summer peak and settle afterwards |
How do you cut the cost?
- If what you have is under 15 cubic metres, a shared container costs less than one of your own.
- Dismantle wardrobes and beds before the volume is measured; a dismantled piece takes half its space.
- Choose delivery at the port of Mersin if you have someone to receive and clear there.
- Combine your shipment with a relative or neighbour travelling to the same city in one container.
- Send by air only what you need in your first week, and leave the rest to the vessel.
What goes into pricing is detailed on the pricing factors page, and container prices for all destinations are in the article container shipping prices from Jeddah.
Jeddah, the city of the port and the airport: what does that mean for your shipment?
Jeddah brings together three things the Turkey route needs: the port nearest to the Suez Canal on the Saudi west coast, an international airport with daily flights to Istanbul, and the consolidation warehouses between them. That closeness helps you in practical ways:
- No reloading: the container stands at your door and is sealed in front of you, and your furniture is not moved from a truck into a container in another city.
- Catching the vessel: if loading runs hours late the sailing is not lost, because the road to the gate is short.
- Truck hours: large trucks may enter some Jeddah roads only at set times, so we fix the container’s arrival by the rule in force on loading day.
- Coastal humidity: Jeddah’s air is humid most of the year, so we never close a carton on fabric or wood that has not dried, and we hang absorbent bags in the container.
What we offer in the city for other destinations is in the article international shipping companies in Jeddah.
Sea freight from Jeddah to the port of Mersin in Turkey

Mersin is the port to which we send most Jeddah containers. The reason is geography: when the vessel leaves the Suez Canal for the Mediterranean, Turkey’s southern coast is ahead of it, and Mersin is its largest port. Sailing there is days shorter than sailing to Istanbul, and its freight is usually lower. Your shipment is loaded in a 20ft or 40ft container from Jeddah Islamic Port and leaves on sailings that recur every one to two weeks, direct or with a change of vessel depending on the shipping line.
But Mersin is not the only choice. Turkey is a long country, and the road distance between its south and its north-west exceeds 900 km. Someone living in Istanbul or Bursa may be better served by a port on the Sea of Marmara, and someone in Izmir by its own port. We compare the sea freight with the Turkish truck charge for you and choose what makes the total lowest:
| Port of arrival | Location | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Mersin | The southern coast on the Mediterranean | Ankara, Antalya, Adana, Konya and Gaziantep |
| Ambarli | West of Istanbul on the Sea of Marmara | European Istanbul and Tekirdag |
| Gemlik and Kocaeli | South and east of the Marmara | Bursa, Yalova and Asian Istanbul |
| Izmir | The Aegean coast | Izmir, Manisa and the cities of the west |
| Iskenderun | The far south near Hatay | Hatay and south-eastern Turkey |
The service is explained on the sea freight page, the port’s procedures and berths in the article international sea freight from Jeddah, and the other ports on the ports and gateways page.
A full container or a shared container?
One number settles the question: the volume of what you ship. If your furniture fills half a 20ft container or more, a private container is safer and faster, and its cost approaches that of shared space. If you have ten cartons and a bedroom, there is no sense in paying for a container that is mostly empty. This is the difference between the two options on the Jeddah route:
| Point of comparison | A container of your own | Space in a shared container |
|---|---|---|
| Where it is loaded | At your home in Jeddah | At the consolidation warehouse after collection from you |
| Who opens it | Turkish customs only | Unloaded and sorted at a Turkish warehouse |
| Time | 15–25 days to Mersin | 22–37 days |
| Suitable volume | Above 15 cubic metres | From one metre to 15 metres |
| Starts from | SAR 4,600 for a 20ft | SAR 415 per cubic metre |
To know which of the two sizes you need: the small container, 20 feet, has close to 28 cubic metres, which is the furniture of a flat with two or three rooms. The large one, 40 feet, has close to 58 cubic metres, so it carries the furniture of a villa, or that of a flat and a car with it. The dimensions are on the container sizes page.
Shipping household goods and furniture from Jeddah for residents in Turkey

Most people who move a home on this route are resident in Turkey or on their way to residence: a returning Turkish national, a Saudi who has obtained a property-based residence permit, or an Arab family whose work has moved to Istanbul. Two things matter to them together: that the furniture arrives intact after three weeks at sea, and that it enters Turkey without duty. That is why we review the import conditions and the residence papers before we send the crew.
- Survey: photos and video from your phone, or a visit to your home in Jeddah, so that we know the volume, the number of workers and the right container.
- Dismantling: bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchens and sitting rooms are taken apart, and the screws of each piece go into a bag tied to it and marked with its number.
- The list: every carton and piece has a number, and every electrical appliance its brand and serial number, because the Turkish broker submits the list to customs.
- Stowage: wardrobes and washing machines on the floor, cartons above them, glass upright along the sides, then straps that tie the load to the container’s rings.
- In Turkey: we unload the goods and carry them up to the flat, and we assemble what we dismantled if you asked for that at booking.
Mirrors, paintings and ornaments: these are the first to break and the last to be replaced. A mirror gets crossed tape, then foam, then a wooden crate made to its size, and it is loaded upright. No plastic touches the face of an oil painting; it gets acid-free paper, then stiff board and corners. A glass or ceramic ornament is wrapped piece by piece and suspended inside its box with padding on every side. We point out one important difference: decorative ornaments can be shipped, but archaeological pieces and old coins we do not accept, and Turkey is strict about them both entering and leaving.
Anyone who wants the furniture in Istanbul in particular should tell us the floor and the width of the stairs. Many of its older buildings have small lifts, so large furniture is raised by an external hoist from the balcony, and that is booked in advance. The service is explained on the furniture shipping page.
Shipping electrical appliances and large appliances
Appliances are what people ask about most after furniture: will they survive the journey, and will they work there? They survive if they are prepared before packing. And they work in most cases: Turkey’s electricity is 230 volts at 50 hertz and its sockets are European with two round pins, so a plug adaptor is enough for most appliances. For appliances with a motor, check the label to see whether it accepts 50 hertz.
- Fridge and freezer: switched off a day before loading so the ice melts and it dries, with the door fixed slightly open so it does not go mouldy in the container, and it travels upright.
- Washing machine and dryer: the drum is locked with the transit bolts that came with it, and whatever remains in the hoses is drained.
- Split air conditioner: before it comes off the wall a refrigeration technician draws the gas back into the outdoor unit, then the pipe openings are sealed.
- Screen: its original carton, if kept, protects best, but the list states that it is used. If not kept, a box with foam corners.
As for customs, a new appliance in its sealed carton and a duplicate appliance of the same kind may both attract duty even when they are part of a household.
Professional packing for shipments bound for Turkey
Packing for the Turkey route is calculated against three risks: crane handling at two ports, days of the vessel’s motion, and the change in humidity and temperature between Jeddah’s coast and Turkey’s cold winter. Wood packed damp in Jeddah arrives cracked or with mould on it. So the material is chosen by the piece, not by what happens to be in the van:
| Piece | What it is packed in | How it is loaded |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom and wardrobe panels | Removal blankets, then plastic wrap | Panels stacked on their edge |
| Leather and fabric sofas | Cotton cloth, then a cover; no plastic directly on leather | On top of heavy pieces, not under them |
| Mirrors, paintings and marble | Foam and a wooden crate made to size | Upright and braced against the container wall |
| Crockery, crystal and ornaments | Paper, then bubble wrap, in a double-wall carton | In the top tier, with a mark on them |
| Books and clothes | Small cartons for books, vacuum bags for clothes | Filling the gaps between pieces |
Before the door is closed we photograph every tier of the load and send you the photos with the seal number. Wrapping and padding methods are in the packing guide, and the ways of securing a load inside the container on the packing and lashing page.
Shipping personal parcels from Jeddah to Turkey and their prices
A personal parcel on this route has two sides. The first is easy: collection from your home, office or hotel in Jeddah, and daily flights to Istanbul. The second needs attention: Turkish customs lets no parcel through without a declaration and does not exempt a small gift. These are the prices by type of parcel:
| What is in the parcel | Method | Time | Starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Papers, contracts and certificates | Express air | 2–4 days | SAR 83 |
| A gift or clothes up to 5 kg | Air | 2–4 days | SAR 110 |
| A suitcase or carton of 5–20 kg | Air | 2–5 days | SAR 200 |
| Cartons totalling 50 kg | Air | 3–5 days | SAR 1,100 |
| Cartons above 100 kg with no urgency | Consolidated sea freight | 22–37 days | SAR 4.15 per kilogram |
- Weight: in current practice a personal parcel does not exceed 30 kg, and anything above is cleared as a commercial shipment.
- Who receives it: write the name exactly as the ID card shows it, add the Turkish ID number (or the number issued to resident foreigners) and a Turkish mobile that someone answers.
- Duties: the consignee pays them at clearance, and the word “gift” on the carton does not waive them.
- What must not go in it: a mobile phone, perfumes and cosmetics, food supplements and flammable liquids.
Everything about the service is on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping goods from Jeddah to Turkey on the lowest budget
A trader does not ask about the cheapest sea freight but about the lowest cost per unit when it reaches the buyer’s warehouse. Three decisions bring that down: a volume that fills the container so nothing is paid for air, a port close to the buyer, and a document file that does not hold the goods on the quay for a single day. Commercial goods enter Turkey in the name of an importer with a tax number and through a licensed broker there.
- Small quantities: pallets or cartons in a shared container, charged per cubic metre from SAR 415.
- A full container: from SAR 4,600 for a 20ft and from SAR 5,200 for a 40ft as sea freight from Jeddah port, and we load it at your factory or warehouse.
- Dates and foodstuffs: with a health certificate and a certificate of origin, and a refrigerated container for what needs cooling.
- Plastics and petrochemicals: bags or pallets with the product data sheet.
- Samples and exhibition items: by air, and exhibits that will return enter on a temporary admission carnet.
We gather your goods from more than one supplier at the Jeddah warehouse until the container is complete. The service is on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Jeddah to Turkey: the two methods and the steps
Your car needs no carrier between cities; it enters Jeddah Islamic Port on its own wheels or on a short flatbed run. The destination is Mersin on most sailings. But the most important part of shipping a car to Turkey is not the vessel but customs: a Saudi car enters temporarily on its own plate and in most cases is not registered on a Turkish plate, because permanent import of a used car is restricted and its taxes are high.
- RoRo: driven up the ramp into the vessel and its wheels lashed to the deck; from SAR 2,800 for a saloon.
- 20ft container: one car secured with straps and chocks, then the container is sealed; from SAR 4,600.
- 40ft container: two cars, or a car with the household furniture; from SAR 5,200.
- Air: for a luxury or urgent car, on a cargo pallet; price set on request.
- Eligibility check: we ask about your status in Turkey and how long you have lived outside it; in current practice the owner must have lived outside Turkey for at least 185 days in the last year.
- Papers: the registration in your name or a notarised authorisation, the passport, the driving licence, and a no-objection letter from the finance company if the car is financed.
- Photos and preparation: photos of the body and the odometer, a quarter tank of fuel, and personal items removed if it goes by RoRo.
- Handover to the port: the exit permit from Saudi customs, then entry to the car yard or loading into the container.
- Sailing and follow-up: a bill of lading number with which you follow the vessel to Mersin.
- Clearance in Turkey: in your presence, with the car entered on your passport and an insurance policy valid on Turkish territory.
The permitted stay in current practice reaches 730 days for a holder of Turkish residence and for a Turkish national living abroad, and 90 days in every 180 for a visitor, and selling or renting out the car there is prohibited. We confirm what is in force before booking. The details are in the article car shipping from Jeddah to Turkey, and the customs carnet is explained on the triptik and carnet de passages page.
Turkish customs and documents: how do we ease the formalities?
Easing the formalities, for us, is neither a connection nor a promise but an order of work: we establish which category your shipment falls into, gather all its papers before the container is closed, and send copies to our broker at the port of arrival while the vessel is still at sea. Turkish customs treats each category by a rule; this is a summary of current practice, and we review what is in force before each shipment because it changes:
| Category | What Turkish customs applies in current practice |
|---|---|
| Effects of someone moving to live there | Exempt if used and in proportion to the family, and the owner holds a residence or work permit |
| Proof of housing | A tenancy contract notarised for a year or more, or a title deed |
| Arrival time of the effects | Within a window around the owner’s date of entry; commonly from two months before to 6 months after |
| Presence of the owner | Usually required, with the name on the bill of lading matching the passport |
| New goods | Duty by item and origin, and value added tax at a general rate of 20% |
| A personal parcel | A customs declaration for every parcel, with no exemption for low value |
The papers differ from one shipment to another, and we ask you for them as photos on WhatsApp on the day of booking so that we can review them before loading day:
| Shipment | What we need |
|---|---|
| Furniture and household effects | Passport, Turkish residence or work permit, notarised housing contract, Turkish tax number, numbered list and a power of attorney for the broker |
| Commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the Turkish importer’s details |
| A car | Registration, passport, driving licence, exit permit and insurance covering Turkey |
| A personal parcel | Sender’s ID, description and value of the contents, and the consignee’s ID number |
Turkish duties and taxes are paid by the consignee directly to customs, and we tell them the approximate amount before shipping so that it is no surprise. The steps are explained on the customs clearance page, and sample papers on the shipping documents page.
What cannot be shipped to Turkey or needs a permit
We go through the contents list with you before collection for this reason: one prohibited item in one carton is enough to hold the entire shipment until it is resolved. These are the main items:
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Drugs, weapons, ammunition and explosives | Prohibited |
| Meat and meat products in luggage and parcels | Prohibited |
| Plants and seeds | With a phytosanitary certificate, and not accepted in personal parcels |
| Mobile phones in parcels | Not delivered to individuals |
| Perfumes, cosmetics and supplements | Not accepted in individuals’ parcels; commercially with permits |
| Medicines | On prescription and in a quantity for personal use |
| E-cigarettes and their liquids | Prohibited |
| Archaeological pieces and old coins | Not shipped |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped as cargo; the traveller carries it in its dedicated pack |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Stay with their owner on the aircraft |
Everything else is listed on the prohibited items page. When in doubt about an object, photograph it for us while it is still outside the carton.
Delivering shipments from Jeddah in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya

The quay is not the end of the journey. After the release, a Turkish truck carries the container or the cartons to the consignee’s address. We deliver in the five major cities and around them, and each city has its most suitable port and its airport:
| City | The shipment reaches it via | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Istanbul | Ambarli port by sea, and Istanbul or Sabiha airport by air | State the European or Asian side; a strait and congested bridges lie between them |
| Ankara | Mersin, then a truck for about 480 km | An inland city, so a day is added for the road |
| Izmir | Izmir port, or Mersin and then by road | And from there to Manisa, Aydin and Bodrum |
| Bursa | Gemlik or Ambarli | Yalova, Inegol and Sapanca are on the same run |
| Antalya | Mersin, then the coastal road | Alanya, Kemer and Belek are served from it |
| Mersin, Adana and Gaziantep | Mersin port directly | The shortest delivery on the whole route |
A Turkish address is written in its local order: the neighbourhood (Mahalle), then the street (Sokak or Cadde), then the building and flat number, then the district and the province. Add a Turkish mobile number for the driver to call. Destination information is on the shipping to Turkey page, and coverage from every city in the Kingdom in the article shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Turkey.
Air freight from Jeddah to Turkey

Between King Abdulaziz Airport and Istanbul there are direct flights every day to Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Airport, and the flight takes nearly four hours. That is why a parcel collected in the morning in Jeddah reaches its owner in Istanbul after two to 4 days; any delay happens in clearance, not in the air. Other Turkish cities receive the shipment from Istanbul on a domestic flight or a truck within 3 to 5 days.
- What goes by air: parcels, urgent luggage, students’ suitcases, documents, samples and spare parts.
- How it is charged: the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight is taken, and the volumetric weight equals length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000. Try it in the volumetric weight calculator.
- Starting prices: SAR 83 for documents, SAR 110 for a parcel up to 5 kg, SAR 200 up to 20 kg, and SAR 17 per kilogram from 300 kg upwards.
- Delivery: at Istanbul Airport for those who clear the goods themselves, or to the door after clearance.
- Aircraft restrictions: no perfumes, no aerosols and no flammable liquids, and a lithium battery only inside its device.
The general explanation of the service is on the air freight page, and everything about this route in the article air freight from Jeddah to Turkey.
Air or sea from Jeddah to Turkey? And is there a land option?
Weight and deadline settle the choice between the two methods. Anything weighing under about 100 kg, or with a deadline that cannot slip, belongs on the aircraft. Anything above that belongs on the vessel, because the cost per kilogram there is a small fraction of the air cost.
| Point of comparison | Air | Sea |
|---|---|---|
| Time from Jeddah | 2–5 days | 15–37 days |
| Unit of charge | The kilogram | The cubic metre or the container |
| Suits | Parcels, urgent luggage and documents | Furniture, cars and commercial cargo |
| Point of departure | King Abdulaziz Airport | Jeddah Islamic Port |
| Starts from | SAR 17 per kilogram for large weights | SAR 415 per cubic metre |
As for trucks, we do not rely on them for Turkey. The road passes through more than one country, each with its transit clearance and rules that change, and a sea container arrives sealed at a lower cost. We use road freight for the Gulf states and Jordan, and it is explained on the land freight page. The comparison of all methods is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Collection from Jeddah districts and nearby towns, and temporary storage
We collect from every district of Jeddah: Al-Ruwais, Al-Hamra, Al-Shati, the Corniche and Al-Salamah; Obhur and Al-Mohammadiyah in the north; Al-Samer and Al-Naseem in the east; Al-Balad and Al-Khumrah in the south. We also collect from the towns for which Jeddah is the nearest port. The service is the same, and the way of loading follows the place:
| Place of collection | Distance | How we collect |
|---|---|---|
| Al-Shati, the Corniche, Obhur and Al-Mohammadiyah | Inside Jeddah | Villas and towers; the container stands at the entrance by arrangement with the management |
| Al-Ruwais, Al-Hamra, Al-Salamah and Al-Rawdah | Inside Jeddah | Flats and apartment blocks; we arrange the lift and the truck bay |
| Al-Balad and the old districts | Inside Jeddah | A small vehicle shuttles to the loading point |
| Hotels of Umrah and Hajj pilgrims | Jeddah and Makkah | We collect parcels from reception by appointment |
| Makkah | About 80 km | At a time that respects truck entry hours |

If your home in Jeddah is to be handed over before your Turkish flat is ready or your residence permit is issued, do not ship in a hurry. We store your furniture packed and numbered, and the container sails when your papers are complete. The terms are on the storage page, the integrated service on the door-to-door shipping page, and the coverage on the service cities page.
Steps for shipping from Jeddah to Turkey
- The request: photos of the goods on WhatsApp, the name of the district in Jeddah, and the city and neighbourhood in Turkey.
- Customs questions: do you have Turkish residence and a notarised housing contract? And when did you enter Turkey, or when will you?
- Proposal and price: a full or shared container or air, the port of arrival, and a price written out item by item.
- Fixing the date: we tie the loading day to the vessel’s cut-off, and we receive photos of the papers.
- Loading day: dismantling, packing and numbering, then sealing the container in front of you and giving you the seal number.
- Export: the export declaration at Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdulaziz Airport.
- On the way: the container or waybill number, and a message at every stage.
- Arrival: clearance through our broker, then delivery at the port or inside the flat with the list checked off.
Tracking the shipment and insuring it
We do not promise you a dot moving on a map every minute; the position of a container at sea is known only from its vessel’s position and from port records. What we do promise is that every day you will know where your shipment is and when it arrives. Alongside tracking comes insurance for those who want it:
- By sea: the container number is entered on the shipping line’s website, which shows the loading date, the vessel and the expected arrival.
- By air: the airline’s website shows each flight leg once you type in the waybill number. See the track your shipment page for how.
- Insurance: you decide whether to take it. The premium is worked out from the value you declare, and the policy must be issued before the vessel sails. The cargo insurance page sets out the terms.
- On receipt: have the cartons labelled “fragile” opened while the workers are still there, and note anything wrong on the delivery slip before signing it.
Offers and discounts: how do you really get a lower price?
Sea and air rates change from month to month with the lines’ prices, so we do not print a fixed discount percentage and then raise the base price to cover it. A real reduction has clear causes, and all of them are open to anyone shipping from Jeddah:
- Volume: the price per metre falls as the number of metres in the shared container rises.
- More than one shipment: someone shipping two cars, or furniture and a car in a 40ft container, pays less than shipping each alone.
- The regular customer: a trader who sends every month has an agreed tariff for a set period.
- Early booking: whoever books three weeks before summer fixes the price before the seasonal rise.
Payment is agreed at booking, by bank transfer to the establishment’s account or by electronic payment, with a receipt for every instalment.
Shipping from Turkey to Jeddah
The opposite direction is busier: furniture and furnishings from Istanbul, Bursa and Inegol, carpets and curtains, clothing, and finishing and lighting materials. We collect from the showroom or the factory, gather your purchases from several sellers in one warehouse, and then the container sails from Ambarli or Mersin. Jeddah’s advantage is that the container is cleared at its port and reaches your home with no transport between cities.
- Saudi customs: duty by item, and value added tax of 15%.
- Conformity: a trader’s goods that fall under Saudi technical regulations need a Saber registration, and it is obtained while they are still in Turkey.
- Personal effects: someone returning from residence in Turkey brings in used effects on a contents list.
Tips before shipping from Jeddah to Turkey
- Do not set the loading day before you hold the Turkish residence permit and the notarised contract in your hand.
- Obtain the Turkish tax number from the tax office or online before the container arrives.
- Put all your effects in one shipment as far as possible; a second shipment needs a new file and may not be covered by the exemption.
- Take new appliances out of their sealed cartons, and enter them on the list as used if they are.
- Carry on the aircraft what you need for a month: the season’s clothes, medicines and documents.
How do you choose a shipping company from Jeddah to Turkey?
Jeddah has many offices advertising shipping to Turkey, and some are intermediaries that collect orders and hand them to others. The difference shows in the office’s questions before the price, and in the paper it hands you. These signs help you judge:
| Item | What reassures | What calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | A commercial registration and a receipt in the establishment’s name | A transfer to an individual’s account with no receipt |
| The first question asked | About your residence and housing contract in Turkey | About the number of cartons only |
| The time quoted | A door-to-door time with a margin | The sailing time alone, as if it were the arrival time |
| The form of the price | Items: packing, sea, clearance, delivery | A lump sum, then extras on arrival |
| What is said about the car | Explains temporary entry and its limits | Promises a Turkish plate or full exemption |
| After sailing | A container number and a named broker at the port of arrival | Contact stops until you ask |
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Turkey
- Sending the container while the Turkish residence permit is still an application under review.
- Writing “household items” on the list with no detail and no serial numbers for the appliances.
- Splitting the effects into two shipments far apart, so clearance is repeated and the second may fall outside the exemption.
- Slipping a new phone or perfumes among the clothes in a personal parcel.
- Shipping a financed car without a letter from the finance company, so it is turned back at the port gate.
- Asking for the port of Istanbul for a shipment bound for Antalya or Ankara.
- Settling for a verbal price and then disputing what it covers at delivery.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Jeddah to Turkey
How much does shipping from Jeddah to Turkey cost?
By sea, a cubic metre in a shared container starts from SAR 415, a bedroom from SAR 1,100, a 20ft container from SAR 4,600 and a 40ft container from SAR 5,200. By air, a document envelope starts from SAR 83 and a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 110. The final figure follows the volume of your shipment, the Turkish city and the scope of service. Send the details to 0552803439.
How long does air freight from Jeddah to Turkey take?
Two to 4 days to the consignee’s door in Istanbul, and 3 to 5 days to Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya.
How long does sea freight for containers from Jeddah take?
Sailing from Jeddah Islamic Port to Mersin takes 7 to 12 days on a direct voyage. With loading, the two clearances and delivery, the time becomes 15 to 25 days to the cities of the south and centre, and 19 to 29 days to Istanbul. A shared container takes 22 to 37 days.
How much does it cost to ship one car from Jeddah to Turkey?
A saloon on a RoRo vessel starts from SAR 2,800 from Jeddah port to Mersin, and a car inside a 20ft container starts from SAR 4,600. Four-wheel drives and tall vehicles are priced by their dimensions. Before the price, we check with you whether Turkish customs will admit your car and for how long.
What customs formalities are required from me?
In Jeddah we prepare the export declaration ourselves, and all we need from you is your ID or residence permit and the contents list. In Turkey the broker asks for your passport, your residence or work permit, your notarised tenancy contract or title deed, your tax number and a power of attorney in his favour. Commercial goods need an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin.
Are my used household goods exempt from duty in Turkey?
In current practice, used household effects are exempt for someone moving to live there who holds a residence or work permit, has a notarised one-year tenancy contract or a title deed, and attends clearance in person. Anything new, or a duplicate appliance, attracts duty. We review your case before loading because the conditions are amended.
What kind of packing do you use?
Each piece gets what suits it: blankets and tight wrap for wood, double-wall cartons for crockery and books, wooden crates for mirrors, paintings, ornaments and marble, and foam corners for screens. We place moisture absorbers inside the container, because its journey starts in a humid coastal city and crosses two seas.
What tracking options are available?
You receive the container number or the air waybill number on the day of shipping, and you enter it on the website of the shipping line or the airline to see the last recorded position. We also message you on WhatsApp at every stage: entry into the port, sailing, arrival and customs release.
Do you insure the shipment?
Insurance is an optional service, and its premium is a percentage of the value you declare on the list. We advise it for a car, for a full household and for expensive appliances, and we photograph the condition of the pieces before packing as the basis of any claim.
What does the door-to-door service include?
A crew comes to your address in Jeddah to dismantle, pack and load; then export from the port or the airport; then clearance in Turkey through our broker; then a truck that delivers to your flat and workers who unload the goods. Turkish duties and taxes, where due, are not part of the freight charge and are paid by the consignee.
What payment methods are available?
We agree the payment method at booking; the usual way is a bank transfer to the establishment’s account or an electronic payment, with a receipt in the establishment’s name. Do not transfer to a personal account in an individual’s name.
Do you have offers or discounts?
We do not advertise fixed percentages, because the rate follows the prices of shipping lines and airlines. What we really offer: a lower price per metre as the volume grows, a special tariff for the trader who ships regularly, and a fixed price for those who book before the summer season. Ask what is available on the day of your request.
Is there land freight from Jeddah to Turkey?
We do not build our service on it. The two countries share no border, and a truck crosses more than one country under transit procedures that change. Jeddah port delivers the container sealed to the Turkish quay at a lower cost per metre. So our shipping to Turkey is by sea and by air.
What is not accepted in parcels sent to Turkey?
A mobile phone, cosmetics, perfumes and food supplements are not delivered to individuals through parcels in current practice. Medicines need a prescription and a personal quantity. Every parcel is cleared on a customs declaration however low its value, so tell the consignee before sending.
Do you ship from Turkey to Jeddah?
Yes. We gather your purchases from Istanbul, Bursa, Inegol and elsewhere, and the container sails from Ambarli or Mersin to Jeddah Islamic Port, where it is cleared and reaches you in the same city. Parcels come by air to King Abdulaziz Airport.
