What does a furniture moving company in Makkah offer?

It offers a move that starts in the rooms of your old home and ends with your furniture assembled in the rooms of the new one. The crew arrives with packing materials and tools; the carpenter takes apart whatever comes apart, the workers wrap the pieces and number the cartons, and everything is loaded into a vehicle that suits the street. At the new address each item goes back where it belongs. All you do is point to the place for each piece.

What sets Makkah apart is that the path between the door and the truck can be harder than the road between the two districts. Houses reached by stone steps, alleys two metres wide, buildings side by side with nowhere to park in front. So we ask about the street before we ask how many rooms there are. Here is the summary in a table.

What makes moving furniture in Makkah different

Makkah is a city among mountains. Its centre is a set of narrow valleys around the Grand Mosque, around them are districts that climbed the slopes, and beyond those lie modern, level subdivisions on the edges. A large number of tunnels and ring roads link the parts together. All of this enters the planning of a move: which road the truck takes, whether a tunnel on the route limits its height, and where it stands when it arrives.

Heat is the second factor. Summer in Makkah is severe, with the temperature above forty degrees on many days. Furniture is therefore not left on the pavement in the sun, and screens and leather pieces are loaded last and unloaded first. Work begins after dawn, or shifts to the evening in the hottest months, out of care for the workers and the furniture alike.

The third factor is the season. Entry of large trucks into Makkah is regulated by hours set by the traffic authorities, and those hours narrow in Ramadan and during Hajj. In the Hajj season, entry to the city itself is regulated by permits. We confirm what is in force before loading day, and advise anyone with a choice to keep the move away from the last ten days of Ramadan and the weeks of Hajj.

Who asks for furniture moving in Makkah?

Demand in Makkah has faces you do not find in another city. There are families moving from the old districts to subdivisions on the edges, owners fitting out buildings as pilgrim housing, students at Umm Al-Qura University, and hotel staff whose accommodation changes with their contracts. Each of them needs a move of a different size and timing.

Customer What they usually move What suits them
A family moving from an old district to a new subdivision A whole home out of an alley or off a slope A small truck and hand-carrying, then a closed truck to the new district
The owner of a pilgrim-housing building Beds, mattresses and wardrobes by the dozen A bulk move with a list per floor, well before the season
A student at Umm Al-Qura University A bed, a desk and cartons of books A small vehicle and two workers
An employee transferred to or from Makkah A whole home between two cities A dedicated truck and packing for the road
A shop or office owner Shelving, display fronts and desks A night move outside trading hours
A resident who has finished work and is leaving Furniture and belongings to the home country Export packing and land, sea or air freight

Survey and pricing: photos of the rooms and a photo of the street

We price most moves from photos. Photograph each room from two angles, open the wardrobes and cupboards in front of the camera, and send that with the location of both homes. From the photos we count the pieces, estimate the cartons and see what needs a carpenter. Then we ask for something others seldom request: a photo of the street in front of each home, and a photo of the stairs or the lift.

In Makkah those two photos settle half the price. A house with the truck at its door is not the same as one a hundred metres uphill from it. A site visit is arranged for large villas, housing buildings and homes with unusual pieces, when it is agreed. After the listing you receive one figure that states its items, and anything added on moving day that did not appear in the photos is priced before it is loaded.

The company’s services, one by one

Not every customer needs every service. Someone who packed their own belongings asks only for transport and assembly; someone about to travel adds storage. So we offer them separately, you choose, and what you chose is written into the booking confirmation. These seven are the ones asked about in Makkah.

Service What is done Note
Dismantling and assembly Bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchens, tables, curtains Done by a carpenter; the air conditioner by a refrigeration technician
Wrapping Bags for mattresses, blankets for wood, foam and bubble wrap for glass The crew brings the materials
Boxing Clothes, books and cookware in numbered cartons marked with the room You are given a list of the numbers
Transport by vehicle A closed truck, or a small truck for alleys Chosen from the photo of the street
Crane hoisting Lowering what will not pass the stairs through a balcony or window After inspecting the facade and the standing space
Storage Keeping furniture packed, with a photographed inventory In our closed warehouse in Jeddah
Cleaning and polishing Wiping pieces before wrapping and after assembly, and collecting packing waste Cleaning the home itself is not part of the move

Packing mattresses and furniture in the homes of Makkah

Mattresses suffer most in Makkah moves and get the least attention. They are carried on shoulders down narrow stairs, brush against walls and handrails, and are rested on the ground of the alley for a moment’s pause. That is why every mattress goes into a sealed bag of its own size before it leaves its room, and the bag is taped at its open end. It arrives clean however long the way between the door and the truck.

Packing mattresses and furniture in the homes of Makkah

Wooden pieces are wrapped in blankets held tight with stretch film. The blanket absorbs the knock when a wardrobe rubs the corner of the stairs, and the film keeps it from slipping. Everything small goes into numbered cartons for each room: a number and a room name on two faces of the carton, and a line in a list of which you keep a copy. When forty cartons arrive, the worker knows at first glance where each one goes.

Room What is packed there With what
Bedrooms Mattresses, wardrobe and bed panels, mirrors Sealed bags, blankets, foam for mirrors
Sitting room Sofas or Arabic floor seating and its cushions, tables Stretch film then a blanket, and large bags for cushions
Dining room The table and its chairs, and the glass top Cardboard corners, and two foam sheets for the glass
Kitchen Cookware, plates and small appliances Paper for each piece, and small cartons
Children’s rooms Beds, toys and books Light cartons carrying the room number
Entrances and corridors Carpets, chandeliers and pictures Carpets rolled in film, and a box for each chandelier

Anyone who wants to get ahead of the crew by boxing some belongings will find the method explained in the article on packing furniture for a move and in the packing guide.

Glass, valuable tableware and ornaments

Makkah homes hold pieces worth more than their price: hospitality sets brought out in the seasons, coffee pots and cups, incense burners, and pictures and framed verses behind glass. These are not stacked with the rest of the load. Plates are wrapped in paper one by one and stood on their edges, cups are stuffed with paper inside, and every gap in the carton is filled until nothing can be heard when it is shaken.

Glass sheets and mirrors are carried upright between two sheets of foam and tied to the wall of the truck, never laid on its floor. Copies of the Quran and books are packed in small separate cartons that are carried by hand and placed on top of the others. Cartons of fragile items are marked on two sides, loaded at the end of the row and unloaded first, so nothing passes over them.

Dismantling furniture by a carpenter

Dismantling is more than removing screws. A large wardrobe made of chipboard cracks at its screw holes if it is taken apart in a hurry or tightened hard on reassembly. So a carpenter handles it: he numbers the panels in the order of dismantling, photographs the joints before opening them, and collects the hinges and screws in a bag taped to the panel they came from.

Makkah adds another reason to dismantle: the stairs. A piece that passes in a modern building with a wide lift may not turn the bend of the stairs in an old house. So the bed is reduced to its sides, the legs of sofas and tables are taken off, and fridge doors are removed when necessary. Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom starts from SAR 275, and dismantling a kitchen from SAR 640.

Carrying furniture down in the narrow streets and hillside districts of Makkah

This is the hardest stage of a move in Makkah, and the success of the day depends on it. In many districts around the city centre the house stands on a slope and is reached by stone steps or a sloping alley no car can enter. The truck stops where the asphalt ends, and the furniture is carried down to it. Hand-carrying on stairs is a job with its own rules, not just strong shoulders.

Carrying furniture down in the narrow streets and hillside districts of Makkah

A heavy piece, such as a fridge, a washing machine or a safe, is carried on lifting straps that pass beneath it and hang from the shoulders of two workers. The weight moves from the fingers and the back to the shoulders and legs, and the hands stay free to steer the piece away from the wall. On stairs the stronger worker takes the lower end, and the two stop at every landing. For hillside districts and alleys the number of workers is increased, so they take turns over the distance and no pair is worn out.

Situation Where the difficulty lies What we do
A house on stone steps No vehicle reaches the door Hand-carrying to the nearest stopping point, with workers taking turns
A narrow alley between buildings Only a small vehicle can enter A small truck shuttling loads to a bigger truck
A heavy piece on the stairs The weight and the bend at the landing Lifting straps for two workers, and a stop at each landing
A sloping street The truck moving and the load sliding Chocks under the wheels, and each row tied as it is loaded
A building with no parking Stopping blocks the street Furniture staged at the entrance first, then fast loading
A small lift It will not take sofas and wardrobes Cartons by lift, and large pieces by the stairs after dismantling

The building is protected just as the furniture is. The floor of the entrance is covered, sharp corners of the stairs are padded with cardboard where the staircase is narrow, and everything is lifted, not dragged. No scratch is left on the neighbours’ wall after us, and no mark on the tiles of the corridor.

Cranes and exterior hoisting: when are they needed?

A crane is the answer when a piece is wider than both the stairs and the lift, and there is room in front of the facade for it to stand. A one-piece wardrobe, a corner sofa, a two-door fridge, a marble table: these come down from the balcony or window on a secured platform in minutes, instead of an hour of trying on the stairs. Exterior hoisting by crane starts from SAR 370.

It does not suit every house in Makkah, though. An alley no truck can enter is closed to a crane as well, and power lines close to the facade rule it out. So it is agreed before moving day, after a photo of the facade and the street, and is not ordered on the spot. Where it will not work, whatever can be dismantled is dismantled and the piece is carried on straps.

Moving vehicles: which one can enter your street?

The biggest vehicle is not always the best. In the subdivisions of Ash-Shawqiyah, Ash-Sharai and Al-Awali the closed truck stops at the door and the move is done in one trip. In an old district the same truck stops two streets away, and the day is lost in walking. This is where small trucks pay off: they go in where nothing else can, and carry the load in several runs.

Vehicle Suits To bear in mind
Small closed van One or two pieces, and a student’s belongings One trip and two workers
Small truck Narrow streets, alleys and slopes More than one run for the furniture of a flat
Dyna with a closed box A two- to three-room flat Needs a street it can turn in
Large closed truck A full floor, a villa and moves between cities Its entry hours are regulated, and its route avoids low tunnels
Separate loading for appliances and glass Fridges, screens and glass sheets Tied upright with nothing placed on top

A closed box is a must in a city with fierce heat and ever-present dust. An open vehicle exposes leather, chipboard and screens to the midday sun, and what is saved on its fare is lost with the first piece that is damaged.

Delivering, assembling and arranging furniture in the districts of Makkah

On arrival the cartons go into their rooms by number, and then the carpenter starts. The wardrobe is put together and its doors balanced until they close flush, the bed is tightened and its mattress laid on it once the bag is removed, and the tables go back on their legs. The crew does not leave with the sofas in the middle of the sitting room, because arranging is part of the service: every piece in the place you point to.

Delivering, assembling and arranging furniture in the districts of Makkah

Assembly also covers what hangs on the walls: mounting screens on their brackets, fixing curtain tracks and hanging the curtains, and hanging mirrors and pictures. The service reaches Al-Aziziyah, Ash-Shawqiyah and Al-Awali, Ash-Sharai, An-Naseem and Ar-Rusayfah, and the districts between them. The table shows what differs from one side of the city to another when moving.

Side of the city Some of its districts To bear in mind when moving
East and south-east Makkah Al-Aziziyah, An-Naseem, Al-Awali Residential blocks and towers; nearness to the holy sites crowds the roads in the season
North-east Ash-Sharai, Ar-Rashidiyah Wide subdivisions and villas, and a longer distance from the centre
West and south-west Ash-Shawqiyah, Ar-Rusayfah, Al-Hamra and Umm Al-Jud Wide streets the closed truck can enter, and the Jeddah road close by
North and north-west An-Nawwariyah, Al-Umrah, At-Taneem Modern subdivisions, some far from services
South Batha Quraysh, Al-Kakiyah, Wali Al-Ahd, Al-Ukayshiyah Mid-rise buildings, many without a lift fit for furniture
The city centre and around it Az-Zahir, Al-Utaybiyah, Jarwal, Al-Misfalah, Al-Maabdah, Ri Dhakhir Slopes and alleys, a small truck and hand-carrying, and congestion near the Haram
Outskirts Al-Abdiyah, Al-Jumum, Bahrah Road time is allowed for; Al-Jumum is about 25 km to the north

Furniture moving prices in Makkah

The price follows three things in this order: the volume of furniture, then how hard it is to reach the two doors, then the dismantling and packing you ask for. The figures below are starting prices within Makkah for a home with the truck at its door. Anything above that is stated to you before you book, not at the door.

What you move Price starts from Note
A single room, or a one-bedroom flat SAR 275 A small vehicle and two workers
A two- to three-room flat SAR 460 A closed Dyna and a crew
A full floor or a medium house SAR 1,100 A closed truck and a larger crew
A villa SAR 1,380 More than one trip or more than one vehicle
Dismantling and reassembling a bedroom SAR 275 By a carpenter
Dismantling a kitchen SAR 640 Fitting depends on the size of the new kitchen
Exterior hoisting by crane SAR 370 After inspecting the facade
Hand-carrying in an alley or on a slope, and furniture of housing buildings Set on request According to the distance, the steps and the number of pieces

Prices quoted in the market: what we found published for Makkah is broadly consistent. A one-bedroom flat is offered at SAR 300 to 600, and a two- to three-room flat at SAR 500 to 1,200, with some starting it at SAR 800. A medium house runs from SAR 1,200 to 2,000, and a villa from SAR 1,500 to 3,500. Dismantling and assembly are quoted at SAR 200 to 500 on top of the transport fare, a crane at SAR 400 to 690, and loading and unloading without services at SAR 300 to 575. Between cities, SAR 1,000 to 1,500 is quoted to Jeddah and SAR 2,000 to 3,000 to Riyadh. Classified adverts show figures starting from SAR 150 for a trip in an open vehicle. Always ask what the figure includes.

Factor Its effect on the price
Volume of furniture and number of pieces Decides the vehicle and the number of trips
Whether the vehicle reaches the door Every stretch covered on foot adds workers and hours
Floor and lift Stairs lengthen the day and mean more dismantling
Dismantling and assembly Large wardrobes, kitchens and air conditioners are priced separately
Level of packing Full packing adds materials and preparation time
Crane Added when a piece will not pass the stairs
Season Ramadan, Hajj and the end of the school year bring more demand and tighter movement

Here are five ways to bring the cost down without touching the safety of the furniture:

  • Choose a day well away from Ramadan, Hajj and the end of the month.
  • Clear out what you do not want before the listing, so you do not pay to have it carried down the stairs.
  • Box clothes and books yourself in medium-sized cartons.
  • Agree with the neighbours on a parking spot near the door for one day.
  • Combine transport, dismantling and assembly in one order instead of three separate deals.

How long does a move within Makkah take?

The road between two districts of Makkah is short in kilometres, but can be long in minutes if it passes near the central area at prayer time. So we plan the route on the ring roads wherever possible and start early. Most of the time goes on dismantling, packing and carrying, not on driving. The durations below are for a home with the truck at its door.

Size of the move Usual duration What adds to it
A single room 2 to 3 hours A long staircase
A two- to three-room flat 4–6 hours Many wardrobes and hand-carrying
A full floor or a medium house One working day The kitchen and the air conditioners
A villa One to two days Several floors and many ornaments
A house in an alley or on a slope One to 3 hours are added The length of the way to the stopping point

Electrical appliances: air conditioners, fridge, washing machine and screens

An air conditioner in Makkah is not a luxury; the first question in the new home is when the cooling will be working. So the air conditioners are dealt with first. The refrigeration technician pumps the gas down into the outdoor unit, then disconnects the pipes and caps their ends, and both units travel upright. In the new home they are fitted, vacuumed and tested before the technician leaves. A window unit is taken out of its opening and carried level.

The fridge is unplugged a day before the move, dried and its shelves secured; it is carried upright and left for some hours after arrival before being switched on. The washing machine has its drum locked and its water drained. A screen is wrapped and carried upright between two sheets of foam. These appliances are loaded at the back of the truck, away from the wall that takes the sun.

Appliance Before loading In the new home
Split air conditioner Gas pumped down, pipes disconnected and capped Fitting, vacuuming and a leak test
Window air conditioner Removed from its opening, with the front wrapped Fixed at a slight tilt to drain water
Fridge and freezer Unplugged a day before, dried, shelves secured A wait of some hours, then switched on
Washing machine Drum locked and hoses drained Levelled and connected to water
Screens Wrapped and carried upright between two foam sheets Hung on the bracket and connected
Cooker and oven Gas disconnected, glass and grates wrapped Connected and checked for gas leaks

Furniture of housing buildings, hotels, offices and shops

Makkah has a kind of move seldom requested elsewhere: fitting out and clearing buildings that house pilgrims and Umrah visitors. A single building holds dozens of beds, mattresses, small wardrobes and fridges. They are moved by count, not by room: the pieces are tallied for each floor, the mattresses stacked in their bags, and the metal beds taken apart and tied in bundles. The deadline is the first condition here, since the fitting-out must end before movement tightens in the season.

Office and shop moves are measured in hours of closure. They are done at night or on the day off; desks are numbered with their owners’ names, and files are packed in cartons sealed with tape signed by the person in charge. Shop shelving and glass display fronts are dismantled and their panels carried upright. A shop near the central area is given a time slot in which the traffic police allow stopping.

Moving furniture from Makkah to other Saudi cities

Makkah is linked to Jeddah in the west by a motorway, to Taif in the east by two roads, and to Madinah in the north by the Hijrah road. A move between cities goes on a dedicated truck that sets off on loading day, or in a shared load for those with few belongings and time to spare. The distances in the table are approximate, and the driving time is for a loaded truck.

Destination Approximate distance Driving time for the truck Price starts from
Jeddah About 80 km About an hour and a half SAR 920 on a dedicated truck
Taif About 90 km via Al-Hada, and about 120 km via Al-Sail About two hours Set on request
Al-Baha About 310 km 4–5 hours Set on request
Madinah About 440 km 5–6 hours Set on request
Abha About 640 km 8–9 hours Set on request
Riyadh About 870 km 10–11 hours SAR 1,840 on a dedicated truck
Dammam About 1,270 km About a day and a half Set on request

A furniture truck bound for Taif takes the Al-Sail road, because the Al-Hada descent and its bends are not for large trucks. Each of these cities has its own article: furniture moving company in Jeddah, furniture moving company in Taif, and furniture moving company in Madinah. The route to the capital is explained in furniture moving from Jeddah to Riyadh. Single cartons between cities start from SAR 87 each, and a small parcel from SAR 32, as set out in domestic shipping in Saudi Arabia.

Moving cars from Makkah along with the furniture

A family moving to Riyadh or Dammam cannot drive two cars behind the furniture truck. The second car is handed to a car carrier and reaches the new city within the same days as the move. On collection it is photographed from every side and its mileage and existing scratches are entered in a report, then its wheels are strapped down on the carrier.

Moving a car on a shared carrier between Jeddah and Riyadh starts from SAR 830; collection from Makkah and the other routes are priced on request. A luxury or classic car calls for an enclosed carrier. For those leaving the Kingdom, the car is shipped by land to the Gulf and Jordan or by sea from Jeddah port, with the details on the car shipping page.

Furniture storage for people in Makkah

Three kinds of customer need storage in Makkah: those who have handed over the old home and not yet received the new one, those who let their home in the season and want their own furniture out, and those travelling for months. The furniture is taken, packed, to our closed warehouse in Jeddah about 80 km away, entered in a photographed inventory of which you receive a copy, and then returned to Makkah or any other city on the day you choose.

What you store Monthly price starts from
A small space: cartons and a few pieces SAR 185
A single large appliance SAR 230
The furniture of a flat SAR 600
The furniture of a villa or a building Set on request after the listing

We have no warehouse in Makkah itself, so transport between the two cities is priced with the order. What is and is not accepted for storage is explained in the article on furniture storage in Jeddah.

Moving from Makkah to other countries by land and sea

Many residents of Makkah work for years in pilgrim services, hotels and education, then return to their countries with the furniture of a whole home. That is a different move: packing that withstands days on the road or weeks in a container, and a contents list presented to customs. The furniture is dismantled and packed in your home in Makkah, and from there the route depends on the country. Makkah has no port, so the container is loaded and driven to Jeddah Islamic Port.

Destination Method Route of the shipment from Makkah Price
The UAE and the Gulf states By land in closed trucks To Riyadh, then the border crossing A carton from SAR 140, and a bedroom with a sitting room to the UAE from SAR 1,850
Jordan By land in closed trucks North to the Haditha crossing Set on request
Turkey, North Africa and Europe By sea in a full or shared container By truck to Jeddah Islamic Port Set on request
Any destination, for urgent items By air King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah From SAR 14 per kilogram to the Gulf

Zamzam water does not go into the shipment: its export is prohibited apart from the pack designated for travellers. The three methods and the customs exemptions for returnees are detailed in international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia, and the port and airport services in international shipping companies in Jeddah. An example of a complete land route from Makkah: shipping company from Mecca to the UAE. To compare: land freight and sea freight.

Air freight for furniture and belongings from Makkah via Jeddah airport

Air freight is for urgent pieces and belongings, not for the furniture of a whole home. It is charged by the kilogram, and on that basis a wardrobe costs more to fly than it is worth. But two extra suitcases, cartons of clothes and books, a small valuable piece and documents arrive in days instead of weeks. That is why someone leaving sends the home by truck or container, and sends by air what is needed in the first week.

Air freight for furniture and belongings from Makkah via Jeddah airport

Makkah has no airport. The shipment is collected from your home or your hotel, weighed and packed, then travels through King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, about 100 km from the centre of Makkah. From there it heads out of the Kingdom on cargo and passenger flights. Luggage of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims that exceeds the airline allowance is among the items most often sent this way. The price is based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, and the calculation is on the air freight page.

Destination Price starts from Approximate door-to-door time
Gulf states SAR 14 per kilogram 1–3 days
Europe SAR 23 per kilogram 3–7 days
United Kingdom SAR 26 per kilogram 3–7 days
North and West Africa SAR 28 per kilogram 4–8 days
United States SAR 41 per kilogram 5–9 days
Documents abroad SAR 83 Depends on the destination

Responsibility for the furniture, and insurance

Anyone searching for a move “with a guarantee” is really asking: who bears it if something breaks? Our answer is written, not spoken. The crew is responsible for what it packs and carries with its own hands, under the terms recorded in the booking confirmation. That is why every old scratch or break in a piece is noted before loading, and the furniture is checked with you after assembly and before the crew leaves.

Cargo insurance is optional and offered on request; we recommend it for moves between cities and for valuable pieces, and it is explained on the cargo insurance page. Gold, cash and official papers do not go into the cartons at all and stay with you. Whatever you packed yourself in a sealed carton we carry with care, but we do not know how its contents were arranged.

What to prepare before the crew arrives

  • Book well ahead of Ramadan and Hajj if your date falls close to them.
  • Tell the building caretaker and the neighbours about the moving day and where the truck will stand.
  • Unplug the fridge a day before, and drain the washing machine.
  • Put gold, passports, title deeds and medicines in a bag that stays with you.
  • Prepare a carton for the first night: bedding, chargers, cups and water.
  • Make sure the electricity works in the new home, as the air conditioner will be tested when fitted.
  • Keep children away from the stairs and the entrance during the carrying hours.

How do you choose a furniture moving company in Makkah?

The easiest test is one question: what did the mover ask you before giving a price? Someone who knows Makkah asks about the district, the street and the stairs before the number of rooms. Someone who gives a figure in the first minute will discover the alley on moving day, and you will pay the difference. The table sets the reassuring sign against the one that calls for caution.

What you ask about Reassuring sign Warning sign
Identity of the business Commercial registration, a written name and a receipt A mobile number and a personal account
How the price was set After photos of the rooms and the street A ready figure before any question
The vehicle A closed box of a size that suits the street An open vehicle for every case
Dismantling and assembly A carpenter for furniture and a technician for the air conditioner The same worker for everything
The season and movement hours Mentions them and plans the date around them Ignores them, then turns up late
Damage Written terms in the confirmation and optional insurance The word “guaranteed” with nothing on paper

A wider comparison between cities and routes is in the guide to a furniture moving company in Saudi Arabia.

Common mistakes when moving furniture in Makkah

  • Setting the move in the last ten days of Ramadan or in the weeks of Hajj.
  • Ordering a large truck for a house in an alley it cannot enter.
  • Carrying mattresses without bags down a dusty staircase.
  • Leaving furniture on the pavement in the midday sun until the load is complete.
  • Dragging a wardrobe down the stairs instead of dismantling it or carrying it on straps.
  • Hiding difficult access from the mover in the hope of a lower price.
  • Agreeing without a list of pieces or a written confirmation.

Frequently asked questions about a furniture moving company in Makkah

What services does a furniture moving company in Makkah offer?

Seven services the householder picks from: dismantling and reassembling furniture by a carpenter, wrapping the pieces, boxing small belongings in numbered cartons, transport in a closed truck or a small truck for alleys, exterior hoisting by crane when a piece will not pass the stairs, storage in a closed warehouse, and wiping the pieces down and clearing the packing waste after assembly. The services chosen are written into the booking confirmation.

How much does it cost to move furniture within Makkah?

A single room or a one-bedroom flat starts from SAR 275, a two- to three-room flat from SAR 460, a full floor or a medium house from SAR 1,100, and a villa from SAR 1,380. The figure rises with upper floors that have no lift, and with an alley the truck cannot enter, where the furniture is hand-carried over a longer distance. Send photos to 0552803439 to receive the final price.

You are based in Jeddah, so how do you serve Makkah?

By advance booking. Our establishment is registered in Jeddah, and Makkah is about 80 km away by motorway, so the crew and the truck are scheduled for your day and arrive early in the morning. We do not claim a branch or a warehouse in Makkah. That is why we ask for a booking several days ahead, and longer ahead when Ramadan or the Hajj season is near.

How do you move out of a house in a hillside district the truck cannot reach?

We first ask where the nearest point is that a vehicle can stop, and request a photo of the alley and the steps. A small truck then waits at that point and the furniture is carried down by hand: heavy pieces on lifting straps that share the weight between two workers, long pieces after they are dismantled. The number of workers grows with the distance and the number of steps, and this is stated in the price before moving day.

Do you move during Ramadan and the Hajj season?

We work in Ramadan, but movement near the central area becomes very tight, so we move in the hours when the road is quiet and keep away from prayer times. In the Hajj season, entry to Makkah is regulated by permits set by the competent authorities and truck movement is restricted. We therefore advise completing the move before the season or postponing it until afterwards, and we confirm the rules in force when you book.

How do you pack mattresses?

Each mattress goes into a sealed bag of its own size, taped shut at the open end, so no dust, sweat from hands or dirt from the truck floor reaches it. A sprung mattress is carried on its side and never folded; a thin foam one may be rolled and tied. The room name is written on the bag, so every mattress returns to its own bed without guesswork.

How long does it take to move a flat within Makkah?

A two- to three-room flat usually takes 4 to 6 hours when the truck can stop at the door of the building and the lift is fit for furniture. A single room is finished in two to three hours, and a villa in one to two days. A house on a slope, or in an alley from which the furniture is carried on foot, adds one to three hours depending on the distance.

Do you dismantle bedrooms, kitchens and air conditioners?

Yes. A bedroom is taken apart by a carpenter who numbers its panels and puts them back together; dismantling and reassembling one starts from SAR 275. A kitchen is removed cabinet by cabinet, and dismantling one starts from SAR 640. A split air conditioner is handled by a refrigeration technician who pumps the gas down into the outdoor unit before disconnecting the pipes. Any extra piping or gas the unit needs in the new home is charged as required.

Do you mount screens and hang curtains in the new home?

Yes. The screen is hung on its bracket once you have chosen the wall and the height, and its cables are hidden as far as the wall allows. Curtain tracks are fixed and the curtains hung wherever their size fits the windows. Before any drilling we ask about the route of the electricity and water lines in the wall if you know it, because a hole in the wrong place is not easily put right.

When is a crane needed, and what does it cost?

It is needed when a piece is wider than both the stairs and the lift, such as a one-piece wardrobe, a corner sofa or a two-door fridge, and there is room in front of the facade for the crane to stand. Exterior hoisting by crane starts from SAR 370. In alleys the crane cannot enter, the only options are dismantling the piece or carrying it on straps, and this is decided from the photos before moving day.

Do you move furniture from Makkah to Jeddah, Taif and Riyadh?

Yes, and to Madinah, Al-Baha, Abha and Dammam. A furniture move on a dedicated truck to Jeddah starts from SAR 920 and is delivered the same day; to Riyadh it starts from SAR 1,840 and usually arrives the next day. The other cities are priced on request according to volume and distance. A single carton sent between cities starts from SAR 87.

Do you move the furniture of pilgrim-housing buildings and hotels?

Yes. These are bulk moves, not home moves: dozens of beds, mattresses and small wardrobes with which a building is fitted out before the season or cleared after it. The pieces are counted by room and by floor, the mattresses are loaded stacked in their bags, and each floor is handed over with its own list. The price is set on request according to the quantity, the floors and the deadline.

Do you offer storage for furniture from Makkah?

Storage is available, but it is in Jeddah, not Makkah: a closed warehouse about 80 km away, which your furniture reaches already packed, with a photographed inventory of which you keep a copy. Monthly rent starts from SAR 185 for a few cartons and pieces, SAR 230 for a fridge or washing machine on its own, and SAR 600 for the furniture of a whole flat. The truck journey from and back to Makkah is priced with your order, and you set the return day.

Do you ship furniture from Makkah to other countries?

Yes. To the Gulf states and Jordan by land in closed trucks, to other countries by sea in containers from Jeddah Islamic Port about 80 km away, and by air for what cannot wait. A carton to the UAE by land starts from SAR 140, and a bedroom with a sitting room from SAR 1,850. Zamzam water is not shipped with furniture: its export is prohibited apart from the pack designated for travellers.

How much is air freight from Makkah, and which airport does it leave from?

Makkah has no airport, so the shipment is collected from your home or hotel and leaves from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The lowest rate per kilogram is SAR 14, which applies to the Gulf states. Europe begins at SAR 23, the United Kingdom at SAR 26, the countries of North and West Africa at SAR 28, and the United States at SAR 41. A documents envelope is priced separately, starting from SAR 83.
