How does a furniture moving company in Madinah work?
It works in stages you know from the start. You call or send photos of your home, the furniture is listed and a price reaches you with its items. On the agreed day a crew arrives with a carpenter, loaders, a driver and a supervisor, bringing the packing materials and tools. They dismantle, pack and load, then go with you to the new home and finish the assembly before they leave. You deal with one person throughout the move: the supervisor.
Madinah has its own conditions. Its centre around the Prophet’s Mosque is crowded with visitors, and truck movement there is regulated by hours. Its districts stretch between the lava fields and Mount Uhud, some of them wide modern subdivisions and some old with narrow streets. That is why we ask about the district and the street before choosing the vehicle. Here is the service in summary.

Who asks for furniture moving in Madinah?
The people of Madinah are not one group. There are locals moving from the family house to a villa in a new subdivision. There are students of the Islamic University and Taibah University, many of whom come from outside the Kingdom and go back after graduating. There are employees transferred out and in, and owners of furnished flats and hotels who renew their furniture between seasons. Each of them needs something different.
| Customer | What they move | The right arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| A family moving within the city | The furniture of a flat, a floor or a villa | A closed truck and a full crew in one day |
| A university student | A bed, a desk, books and cartons | A small vehicle and two men, or freight to the home country |
| A transferred employee | A whole home to another city | A dedicated truck between the two cities |
| An owner of furnished flats or a hotel | Matching room sets | A standard list and a room-by-room move |
| A shop or office owner | Shelving, desks and equipment | A move after working hours |
| A resident whose job has ended | Furniture and belongings going abroad | Export packing and land, sea or air freight |
The survey: a representative’s visit or photos you send
There is no correct price without a list, and there are two ways to make one. The first is to film the rooms, open the wardrobes and drawers in front of the camera, and send the clips with the location of both homes. That is enough for most flats, and the answer reaches you the same day. The second is a representative’s visit when the move is large or includes things photos do not show, such as a kitchen fitted to the wall or a wardrobe that reaches the ceiling.
Either way the representative asks about things other than furniture: which floor you live on, whether the lift takes a sofa, how far the building door is from the nearest place a truck can stop, and whether the new home is inside the central area or close to it. He then settles with you the number of workers, their trades and the size of the truck. What is agreed is written in the booking confirmation, so nothing changes on moving day.
A team for each kind of furniture
The common mistake is one worker doing everything: dismantling the wardrobe, then removing the air conditioner, then carrying the fridge. The result is a piece that never goes back as it was. In an organised move each person does what he is skilled at, and the number is set so that no one is exhausted carrying more than he can. A tired worker is the one who drops the piece on the last step.
| Member | Role in the move |
|---|---|
| Supervisor | Holds the list of pieces, assigns the work and checks with you at handover |
| Carpenter | Dismantles wardrobes, beds and kitchens and reassembles them |
| Electrician and refrigeration technician | Removes and refits chandeliers and air conditioners, attending when the service is requested |
| Packers and loaders | Wrap the pieces, move them on trolleys and stack them in the truck |
| Driver | Chooses the route and the stopping place, and watches the lashing of the load |
Dismantling and packing furniture in the homes of Madinah
The largest things in a Madinah home are the bedrooms and their wardrobes, so the work starts there. The carpenter photographs the wardrobe standing, then removes the doors, then the shelves, then the sides. Each panel gets a number showing its place, and each set of screws and hinges goes into a small bag taped to a panel of its own piece. That way no screw is lost and no door is fitted in the wrong place.

Then comes the packing. Wooden panels are wrapped in moving blankets so no face rubs against another. Mirrors and glass doors are covered with corrugated cardboard on both sides and their corners protected. Mattresses go into sealed bags that keep dust out. Sofas are wrapped in film, then a blanket over the arms and legs. Anything smaller goes into numbered cartons bearing the name of its room.
| Piece | How it is dismantled | What it is packed in |
|---|---|---|
| Wardrobe | Doors, then shelves, then sides, with panels numbered | Blankets between panels and tape to bundle them |
| Bed | Headboard, footboard and rails | A blanket for the boards and a bag for the mattress |
| Dressing table and bedside units | The mirror is removed and the drawers emptied | Corrugated cardboard for the mirror, film for the drawers |
| Sofas and Arabic majlis seating | Legs and backrests if removable | Film, then a blanket |
| Dining table | Legs and glass top | Cardboard corners, and the top between two corrugated layers |
| Curtains and carpets | Curtains are taken down and their rails removed | Bags for curtains, rolling for carpets |
If you like to prepare some of your things before the crew arrives, the method is in the article on packing furniture for a move, and the types of material in the packing guide.
Silverware, ornaments and chandeliers: small pieces of great value
Many Madinah homes have a silver cabinet in the middle of the majlis or the living room, holding sets the family inherited or collected over years. These are not treated like ordinary cartons. The cabinet is emptied piece by piece, each piece is wrapped in soft paper and then bubble wrap, and they are stacked in a sponge-lined carton so that none touches another. The carton is then marked with its contents and the shelf they came from.
The cabinet itself needs care. Its glass shelves are removed and wrapped separately, the glass of its doors is covered with corrugated cardboard, and it is carried upright. A chandelier is taken down after the power is cut, its crystal pieces are collected in numbered bags, and its frame goes into a box that supports it. Ornaments and paintings have their corners protected and are loaded at the top of the load, with nothing placed on them.
Moving kitchens: wood and aluminium
The kitchen is the hardest thing to dismantle in a home, because it is fitted to a wall that may not be repeated in the new one. The carpenter starts by emptying the cabinets, then removes the wall units and then the base units, numbering each unit with its door and shelf. The marble or worktop is detached carefully and carried on its edge, not flat, because it breaks under its own weight if lifted by the two ends.
An aluminium kitchen is lighter than wood, but its corners dent easily, so they are wrapped in cardboard and no loads are stacked on it. A wooden kitchen is heavier and is affected by water, so the sink area is dried before dismantling. Dismantling a kitchen starts from SAR 640. Fitting it is priced after we see the wall of the new home, because resizing and cutting marble are jobs that differ from one home to another.
Electrical appliances, from the fridge to the coffee machine
Appliances survive the road if they are prepared for it. The first rule is that appliances with a compressor, such as the fridge and freezer, travel upright and are tilted only as much as it takes to pass the door. The second is that anything holding water is drained: the washing machine, the dishwasher, the coffee machine and the water cooler. The third is that anything that moves inside the appliance is secured or removed, from fridge shelves to the microwave plate.
| Appliance | Preparation before the move | On arrival |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge and freezer | Switched off a day ahead and dried, doors taped shut | Left standing a few hours, then switched on |
| Washing machine and dishwasher | Water drained and drum secured | Fixings removed, levelled and connected to water |
| Cooker and oven | Gas disconnected, grids and burners removed | Connected and checked for leaks |
| Split air conditioner | Gas collected in the outdoor unit and pipes disconnected | Mounted, piped, vacuumed and tested |
| Television | Its original box, or corrugated cardboard and foam | Hung or placed on its stand |
| Coffee machine and small appliances | Tank emptied and each appliance wrapped with its cable | Opened directly in the kitchen |
Air conditioners carry special weight in Madinah: summer is long and hot, and no one wants to spend the first night without cooling. So the refrigeration technician is arranged to attend on moving day itself, removing in the morning and fitting in the afternoon. If the new home needs longer pipes or a gas top-up, the technician tells you before he starts.
Loading furniture onto the truck in Madinah
Most damage happens between the flat door and the truck body, not on the road. So heavy pieces are not carried on shoulders. They are moved on trolleys with rubber wheels that do not scratch the tiles, and go up into the truck on a metal loading ramp laid from the edge of the body to the ground. The fridge, the washing machine and the safe go in on their trolley, and no one lifts them by hand.

Inside the truck the order is not left to chance. The fridge, washing machine and freezer stand upright against the cab wall and are strapped to the wall rings. Then wardrobe panels and mattresses are stacked upright on both sides. Then sofas and tables, with light cartons and ornaments on top. After each row a lashing strap is tightened across, so the row does not move if the truck stops suddenly at a signal or a roundabout.
| Position in the truck | Pieces | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Against the cab | Fridge, freezer, washing machine, safe | The heaviest load, carried upright and strapped |
| Along the sides | Wardrobe panels, mattresses, mirrors | Supported upright so they neither bend nor break |
| The middle | Sofas, beds, tables | They fill the space and stop movement |
| The top | Light cartons, ornaments, silverware | Nothing presses on them |
| At the door | Carpets, the first-night carton | The first things off in the new home |
Stairs, lifts, narrow streets and hoisting from outside
Most residential buildings in Madinah have few floors, and some have no lift or a passenger-only lift. Stairs do not stop a move, but they change the calculation: more workers, long pieces dismantled so they can turn at the landing, and wall corners covered before panels pass them. If the lift takes furniture, its walls are padded and it is reserved with the building management.
Some old districts near the centre have streets too narrow for a large truck. There the truck stops on the main road, and a small closed vehicle carries the furniture from the door to it in batches. A piece that fits neither the stairs nor the door is lifted from the balcony by an external hoist. That is decided at the survey, not on moving day, because it needs a check of the facade and the cables and canopies in front of it, and its price is set on request.
Delivering, assembling and arranging furniture in the districts of Madinah
When the truck arrives, the supervisor enters the home before the furniture. He walks the rooms with you and learns where you want the bed and which wall the wardrobe stands against. Then the floor at the entrance is covered, the large pieces come in first and the cartons after them, each carton to the room written on it. The carpenter then starts assembling, using the numbers and photos he took at dismantling.

Assembly is not just joining panels. Wardrobe door hinges are adjusted until they close without a gap, the bed is tightened until it makes no sound, the table is levelled on the tiles, and the television is hung at the height you choose. Then the pieces are arranged in their places, and the packing waste is collected and taken away with the crew. These are the most requested districts and what we arrange for each.
| District or area | Type of housing | What we plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Al-Aziziyah | Villas and buildings in modern subdivisions | The truck stops at the door and work runs without interruption |
| Quba | Old houses and new buildings south of the Prophet’s Mosque | A small vehicle for some inner streets |
| Al-Awali | Villas and houses among palm farms | Entrances between walls checked before the truck is sent |
| Shuran | Villas and duplexes in new subdivisions | An inner staircase in a duplex means dismantling long pieces |
| Al-Khalidiyah | Residential buildings and flats | Reserving the lift and a stopping place near the entrance |
| Al-Uraid | Buildings and flats in the east of the city | Wide main roads and inner streets of varying width |
| Ad-Difa, King Fahd, Al-Aqool, As-Salam | Residential districts of mixed building types | Entry from the nearest exit on the ring road |
| The central area | Hotels and furnished flats | A slot within the truck-entry hours in force |
We also serve Bani Harithah, Al-Qiblatain, Sayyid ash-Shuhada, Al-Jurf, Al-Uyun and the other districts. For those living in one of the region’s governorates, such as Yanbu, Badr, Khaybar, Al-Ula, Al-Hanakiyah and Mahd adh-Dhahab, a date is arranged by advance booking.
What makes moving in Madinah different?
The first difference is the city centre. The area around the Prophet’s Mosque receives visitors all year, and truck entry to it is regulated by the traffic department with hours that change and tighten in Ramadan and the Hajj season. That is why we write no specific hours here, and confirm the hours in force before loading day. A move out of a hotel or furnished flat in the centre is usually arranged for the time when pedestrians are fewest.
The second is the road network. Ring roads run around the city, among them King Abdullah Road and King Khalid Road, taking a truck from one district to another without crossing the centre. The distance between Al-Aziziyah and Al-Uraid, for example, is covered on the ring road rather than through crowded streets. A driver who knows the nearest exit to each district saves an hour of moving day.
The third is the climate and the seasons. Madinah’s summer is hot and dry, with temperatures above forty on many days, so work starts at dawn, and televisions, candles and cosmetics are not left in a truck standing in the sun. Dust is to be expected, so a closed truck is a necessity, not a luxury. In the visiting seasons, book two weeks ahead.
Furniture moving prices in Madinah
The price is worked out from three things: how many pieces are moved, what dismantling, packing and assembly is requested with them, and the conditions of the two homes in terms of floor, lift and stopping place. The figures below are starting points for each category within the city. Your own figure reaches you after the listing, and is written in the booking confirmation with what it covers.
| Type of move | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|
| One room or a few pieces | SAR 460 | A small closed vehicle and two men |
| Two- to three-room flat | SAR 550 | With basic dismantling and assembly |
| Large flat or whole floor | SAR 920 | A closed truck and a larger crew |
| Four- to five-room flat with full packing | SAR 1,380 | Every piece packed and numbered |
| Villa | SAR 2,150 | Two trucks or two trips |
| Dismantling and assembling a bedroom | SAR 275 | Without transport |
| Dismantling a kitchen | SAR 640 | Fitting after the new wall is inspected |
| External hoisting, storage and moves to the governorates | Set on request | According to the survey and the distance |
Prices circulating in the market: we looked at what is published for Madinah and found that most of it is adverts on classified sites. Some offer a move “inside and outside the city” for SAR 800 without stating the volume of furniture or what is included. Adverts for a light-truck trip in other cities run between SAR 150 and 250, which is the hire of a vehicle and driver with no dismantling, packing or assembly. Company pages mostly publish no figures. So always ask: what does this figure include?
| What changes the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Number of pieces | Sets the truck size and whether one trip is enough |
| Floor and lift | Every floor without a lift adds effort and time |
| What is dismantled and assembled | Kitchens, air conditioners and large wardrobes are charged separately |
| Level of packing | Packing the whole home is not the same as packing the glass only |
| Location of the two homes | The centre and its hours, the narrow street and its small vehicle |
| Date | Ramadan, Hajj and the end of the month are in higher demand |
You can reduce what you pay in these ways:
- Choose a day in the middle of the week and away from the end of the month.
- Take out what you do not want before filming, so it stays off the list.
- Pack clothes, books and bedding yourself in medium cartons.
- Agree the lift and the truck’s stopping place with both building managements.
- Ask for dismantling and assembly only for the pieces that need it.
How long does a furniture move within Madinah take?
The drive between two districts of the city rarely takes more than half an hour on the ring road. The hours are spent in the two homes: dismantling and packing in the first, assembling and arranging in the second. The times below are for a home with a lift that takes furniture and a truck stopping at its door, and they grow when either condition is missing.
| Move | Usual time | What adds to it |
|---|---|---|
| A room or a few pieces | 2–3 hours | A large wardrobe to dismantle and assemble |
| Two- to three-room flat | 4–6 hours | An upper floor reached by stairs |
| Large flat or floor | A working day | A kitchen and many air conditioners |
| Villa | One to two days | Several floors, silverware and ornaments |
| A home in the central area | According to entry hours | Waiting for the time the truck is allowed in |
Moving furniture from Madinah to other Saudi cities
Motorways leave Madinah in four directions: the Hijrah road south to Makkah and Jeddah, the Yanbu road west, the Tabuk road north through Khaybar, and the Qassim road east to Riyadh. Moves on them go by a dedicated truck that leaves as soon as it is loaded, or by a shared load for those with little furniture and no hurry. Distances here are approximate, and the time is that of a loaded truck that stops for rest.
| To | Approximate distance | Truck time | Delivery by dedicated truck |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yanbu | About 220 km | About 3 hours | Same day |
| Al-Ula | About 330 km | 4–5 hours | Same day |
| Jeddah | About 420 km | About 5 hours | Same day |
| Hail | About 440 km | 5–6 hours | Same or next day |
| Makkah | About 450 km | 5–6 hours | Same or next day |
| Buraydah | About 520 km | 6–7 hours | Next day |
| Tabuk | About 680 km | 8–9 hours | Next day |
| Riyadh | About 850 km | 8–10 hours | Next day |
| Dammam | About 1,250 km | About a day and a half | Within two days |
The Riyadh route has published prices, the same in both directions: a room in a shared load from SAR 550, a two-room flat from SAR 735, a three-room flat from SAR 1,100, a large flat from SAR 2,020 and a villa from SAR 3,220. Its details are in the article on furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah. The other routes are set on request according to volume and distance.
If you are sending loose cartons rather than furniture, a carton up to 20 kg starts from SAR 87 and a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 32, as in the article on domestic shipping in Saudi Arabia. For a particular city: furniture moving company in Jeddah, furniture moving company in Mecca, furniture moving company in Tabuk and furniture moving company in Qassim.
Car transport from Madinah
A family moving to Riyadh or Dammam usually travels in one car or by plane, and the other car stays behind. That one is loaded on a car carrier taking the same road and handed over in the new city. Its wheels are strapped to the carrier deck, and a report of its condition and odometer, with photos of its four sides, is written before it moves.
The price of moving a car from Madinah is set on request according to the destination city and the type of carrier, shared and open or enclosed for a valuable car. For those leaving the country the car is shipped by land to the Gulf and Jordan or by sea from Jeddah port, and to the UAE it starts from SAR 3,500 on a carrier. The explanation is on the car shipping page.
Storing furniture when the new home is delayed
It happens that the old home is handed back before the new one is finished, or that a student travels for the holidays and does not want to pay rent on an empty flat. The answer is temporary storage in a closed warehouse: the furniture stays in its packing and numbers, is recorded in a photographed inventory of which you keep a copy, and is delivered on the date you choose.
We do not own a warehouse in Madinah itself, so storage from there is priced on request, taking in the volume of furniture, the storage period and transport to and from the warehouse. Food, flammable materials, cash and jewellery are not stored. The terms of the service are on the storage page.
Offices, shops, hotels and workshop equipment
Moving an office or a shop differs from moving a home in that every hour of downtime has a cost. So it is carried out after working hours or at the weekend. Desks are numbered with employees’ names, file cartons are sealed with tape signed by the person in charge, and computers and printers are disconnected and each wrapped with its cables. In the morning every employee finds his desk and carton in place.
Madinah has a demand that is rare elsewhere: the furniture of hotels and furnished flats around the central area. These are renewed between seasons, so old sets go out and new ones come in within a few days, moved room by room against a list bearing the room number. Equipment of workshops and small factories, such as light machines, workbenches and metal shelving, is moved after its weight and lifting method are assessed. Heavy equipment has its own service on the heavy equipment shipping page.
Moving from Madinah to other countries by land and sea
Many of those who call us from Madinah are leaving rather than relocating: a student who has finished his studies, a resident whose contract has ended, or a family returning home. They need stronger packing than a domestic move and a detailed contents list for customs. The furniture is prepared at home, then takes the route that suits the destination country. Madinah has no seaport: the nearest is Yanbu, about 220 km away, and Jeddah Islamic Port is about 420 km away.
| Destination | Method | Route of the shipment from Madinah | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | Land, closed trucks | The Qassim road, then Riyadh, then the Batha crossing | A carton SAR 140, a bedroom with a majlis SAR 1,850 |
| Other Gulf states | Land, closed trucks | East to each country’s border crossing | Set on request |
| Jordan | Land, closed trucks | North through Tabuk to the border crossing | Set on request |
| Turkey, North Africa and Europe | Sea, in a container | A truck to the port, then a vessel | Set on request |
Each destination has its own article from Madinah: shipping from Madinah to the UAE, to Jordan and to Turkey. Customs exemptions for returnees are explained in international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia. The difference between the two methods is on the land freight and sea freight pages.
Air freight for furniture and belongings from Madinah to destinations abroad
Air freight is for urgent pieces and luggage, not for the whole home. It is charged by the kilogram, and a wardrobe or a sofa costs more by plane than it is worth. But the plane solves what the truck cannot: bags beyond the ticket allowance, cartons of books for a student going home, cartons of dates a visitor sends to family, a small valuable piece, and papers that cannot wait.

Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport lies about 20 km from the Prophet’s Mosque and is reached by three roads from the city. It has direct flights to Gulf cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The shipment leaves from it if there is a flight that suits its destination and accepts its cargo. If there is none, it is taken to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, which has more destinations. We tell you which airport it will fly from before collection.
The price is based on the chargeable weight, the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. A large light carton is charged by its volume, which is why we compress clothes and bedding and choose cartons sized to their contents. The calculation is on the air freight page.
| To | Price starts from | Approximate door-to-door time |
|---|---|---|
| Gulf states | SAR 14 per kilogram | 1–3 days |
| Europe | SAR 23 per kilogram | 3–7 days |
| United Kingdom | SAR 26 per kilogram | 3–7 days |
| North and West Africa | SAR 28 per kilogram | 4–8 days |
| United States | SAR 41 per kilogram | 5–9 days |
| Documents | SAR 83 | According to destination |
Keeping the furniture safe: responsibility and insurance
Moving furniture “with a guarantee” is a phrase everyone writes, and with us its meaning is specific: the crew is responsible for the pieces it packed and carried, under the terms recorded in the booking confirmation. To keep that responsibility clear, pieces are photographed before dismantling and any existing scratch or break is noted. After assembly you go through the list with the supervisor piece by piece before the crew leaves.
The crew does not know what is inside sealed cartons the customer packed himself, so it is better to leave the glass, crockery and silverware to us. Cargo insurance is optional and offered on request, and its benefit is clearest on inter-city moves and for high-value pieces. Its details are on the cargo insurance page.

How do you choose a furniture moving company in Madinah?
The adverts look alike, and the real test is the questions the mover asks you before pricing. One who asks about the district, the floor and the lift and requests photos knows his work. One who names a figure in the first minute will change it at your door. Non-specialist individuals look cheaper, but a scratch, a break and a wardrobe that does not go back as it was are a loss greater than what you saved. These signs tell the two apart.
| What you ask about | Reassuring | Worrying |
|---|---|---|
| Who the mover is | An establishment with a commercial registration and a booking confirmation | A mobile number with no name |
| How the price is set | After photos or a visit | One fixed figure for every home |
| The vehicle | A clean closed body and a loading ramp | An open vehicle and ropes |
| Who dismantles and assembles | A carpenter, and a technician for air conditioners and chandeliers | One worker for everything |
| Packing materials | Blankets, corrugated cardboard and bubble wrap | None, or you are asked to supply them |
| The city centre | Asks about entry hours and plans around them | Promises you any hour you want |

Frequently asked questions about a furniture moving company in Madinah
What exactly does a furniture moving company in Madinah do?
It takes every stage of the move off your hands. The supervisor lists the pieces from your photos or from a visit, then the crew arrives on the day, dismantles wardrobes and bedrooms, packs and numbers the pieces, and loads them into a closed truck. In the new home it reassembles what it took apart and puts each piece in its room. That covers moves between the districts of Madinah, from Madinah to other Saudi cities, and freight abroad.
How much does it cost to move furniture within Madinah?
A single room or a few pieces starts from SAR 460, a two- to three-room flat from SAR 550, a large flat or a whole floor from SAR 920, and a villa from SAR 2,150. The final amount depends on the number of pieces, the floor, whether there is a lift that takes furniture, and how close the home is to the central area. Send photos of the rooms to 0552803439 and the figure reaches you with its items.
You are in Jeddah, so how do you serve Madinah?
By advance booking. Home Safe is an establishment registered in Jeddah, and Madinah is about 420 km away, so the crew and the truck are assigned to the date of your move and are at your door in the morning. That is why we ask for a booking a week ahead if possible, and two weeks ahead in Ramadan and close to Hajj. We do not claim a branch or a warehouse in Madinah.
Do you dismantle bedrooms and wardrobes and put them back together?
Yes, and it is what we are asked for most. The carpenter photographs the wardrobe before touching it, then removes its doors, shelves and sides and writes on each panel its number and position. Screws and hinges are kept in a bag taped to a panel of the same piece. At assembly he goes back to the photo and the numbers, so the wardrobe stands as it did. Dismantling and assembling a bedroom without transport starts from SAR 275.
Which districts of Madinah do you reach?
All of them. The most requested are Al-Aziziyah, Quba, Al-Awali, Shuran, Al-Khalidiyah and Al-Uraid, along with Ad-Difa, King Fahd, Al-Aqool, As-Salam, Bani Harithah, Al-Qiblatain and Sayyid ash-Shuhada. The central area around the Prophet’s Mosque is served in the hours when trucks are allowed in. We also reach Yanbu, Badr, Khaybar, Al-Ula and Al-Hanakiyah by advance booking.
Can the truck enter the central area near the Prophet’s Mosque?
It enters at the times set by the traffic department, and those times change and tighten in Ramadan and the Hajj season. So we do not promise you an hour before checking the arrangement in force in the week of your move. If the large truck cannot stop near the building, it stops at the nearest permitted point and a small vehicle and hand trolleys cover the remaining distance.
How many hours does it take to move a flat within the city?
A two- to three-room flat usually takes 4 to 6 hours, from the first screw removed to the last piece assembled, if the lift takes furniture and the truck stops at the door. A single room is done in two to three hours, and a villa in one to two days. It takes longer if the home is on an upper floor reached by stairs, or if there are many wardrobes and air conditioners.
Do you move just one fridge or one sofa?
Yes. A single piece is moved the way a whole home is, with a small vehicle and two men, and the minimum job within the city starts from SAR 460. It is usually requested by a university student changing lodgings, by someone who has bought a used piece, or by a family moving a room to a son’s or daughter’s home. The fridge travels upright and strapped however short the distance.
Do you move furniture from Madinah to Jeddah, Makkah and Riyadh?
Yes, and to Yanbu, Tabuk, Hail, Qassim and Dammam as well. Jeddah is about 420 km away and Makkah about 450 km, and a dedicated truck usually reaches them the same day. Riyadh is about 850 km away, and moving there starts from SAR 550 for a room in a shared load and from SAR 1,100 for a three-room flat. The other routes are set on request.
Do you dismantle air conditioners, chandeliers and kitchens?
Yes. A split unit is handled by a refrigeration technician who collects the gas in the outdoor unit and then disconnects the pipes, and a chandelier is taken down by an electrician after the power is cut. A wooden or aluminium kitchen is dismantled unit by unit and numbered, and dismantling one starts from SAR 640. Whatever the installation in the new home needs in pipes, gas or resizing is charged as required.
How do you pack silverware and ornaments?
Each piece on its own. Silverware is wrapped in soft paper that does not scratch, then in bubble wrap, and placed in a sponge-lined carton where it touches no other piece. The silver cabinet is emptied completely, its glass shelves are removed and wrapped separately, and the glass of its doors is covered with corrugated cardboard. The carton is marked “fragile” with the name of the room, and is loaded at the top of the load.
Do you have furniture storage in Madinah?
We do not own a warehouse in Madinah. If you need storage, your furniture is taken packed to a closed warehouse and brought back on the day you choose, and the price is set on request according to the volume, the storage period and the transport distance. You receive a photographed inventory of what was stored. If the gap between the two homes is a day or two, changing the moving date is usually cheaper.
Do you ship my furniture from Madinah to my home country?
Yes. To the Gulf states and Jordan in closed trucks by land, to Turkey, North Africa and Europe in containers from the port, and by air for what cannot wait. The furniture is export-packed in your home and a contents list is written for customs. A carton to the UAE by land starts from SAR 140, and a bedroom with a majlis from SAR 1,850.
How much is air freight from Madinah to destinations abroad?
It is charged per kilogram and by continent. The Gulf is the nearest and cheapest destination, from SAR 14. Europe is from SAR 23 and the United Kingdom from SAR 26. North and West Africa are from SAR 28, and the United States, the farthest, from SAR 41. An envelope of documents to any country is from SAR 83. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah is the departure point, and if its flights do not serve your destination the shipment flies from Jeddah airport.
When is moving furniture in Madinah easiest?
In the months away from Ramadan and Hajj, and in the middle of the week. In the seasons visitors multiply, the roads into the centre fill up and demand for crews and trucks rises sharply. In summer we start first thing in the morning, because midday heat tires the crew and harms some items if they stand long in the sun. The end of the month is always busy because tenancy contracts expire.
