Who ships from Jeddah to North Macedonia, and what do they send?
The line between Jeddah and Skopje is small in volume but steady in demand. It is used by Macedonians who work in Jeddah in contracting, restaurants and nursing and go home after some years. It is used by Hajj and Umrah pilgrims who came from Skopje, Tetovo and Gostivar, where many Muslims live, and who want to send their purchases ahead of the flight back. It is used by traders in Jeddah who sell to importers in the Balkans, and by Saudis who have bought a summer house near Lake Ohrid. Each of them has a shipping method that suits him.
| Shipper | What they send | Best method | Status at Macedonian customs |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Macedonian who has finished work in Jeddah | Household furniture, belongings and appliances | Private or shared container | Returnee relief on conditions |
| A Hajj or Umrah pilgrim from North Macedonia | Dates, prayer rugs, abayas and gifts | Air parcel | A small gift or personal purchases |
| A foreign employee moving to Skopje | Personal belongings and some furniture | Shared container | Temporary import, or duty and tax |
| A trader or factory in Jeddah | Palletised goods and samples | Container for volume, air for urgent items | Duty by tariff heading and 18% tax |
| A Saudi with a house in Ohrid | Selected furniture and home supplies | Shared container | Duty and tax on the value |
| An embassy or mission | Diplomatic effects | Container or air | Relief through a foreign-ministry protocol |
The shipping route from Jeddah to North Macedonia and its duration
A shipment to a country without a coast passes through two stages, not one. The first is by sea from Jeddah north through the Suez Canal to the Aegean, and the second is by road from the Greek port to Skopje through the Evzoni–Bogorodica crossing. The closeness of Jeddah port to the shipper’s home shortens the start, as the container enters the port on the day it is loaded. The table shows what happens to a private container at each stage.
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Loading in Jeddah | Dismantling, wrapping, numbering, inventory, then sealing the container | One day |
| Jeddah Islamic Port | Export declaration and waiting for the vessel’s sailing date | 3–6 days |
| Sailing | Red Sea, Suez Canal, then the Aegean, with transhipment where needed | 10–16 days |
| Port of Thessaloniki | Discharging the container and opening the transit declaration to North Macedonia | 2–4 days |
| The road to Skopje | Truck or container train across the Greek–Macedonian border | 1–2 days |
| Clearance and delivery | Import declaration at the customs terminal, then delivery to the address | 2–4 working days |
The time also varies with the shipping method you choose. The next table compares the four methods door to door.
| Method | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Private 20ft or 40ft container | 22–30 days | A whole home or goods that fill a container |
| Shared container | 28–35 days | A room or two, or a few pallets |
| Standard air freight | 4–7 days | Suitcases, parcels and samples |
| Express documents | 3–5 days | Official papers, contracts and certificates |
What lengthens the transit?
- Transhipment: the service to Thessaloniki usually calls at a Mediterranean hub port, and missing the connecting vessel adds a week.
- Waiting for the shared container to fill.
- A gap in the inventory, or a consignee name that differs from his Macedonian identity document.
- Congestion at the land crossing in the summer season and the year-end holidays.
- A customs inspection that requires the packages to be opened at the inland terminal.
- Peak seasons at Jeddah port, especially after Hajj.
Sea freight from Jeddah to a nearby Aegean port, then by truck to Skopje
No vessel reaches North Macedonia, so the right question is which neighbouring port is closest to your address. In most cases the answer is Thessaloniki, the second-largest port in Greece, which lies on the Aegean about 235 kilometres from Skopje. Trucks leave it for the border every day, and a weekly container train service links it with Skopje. The cargo travels from Jeddah in a sealed 20ft or 40ft container, and it is not opened in Greece.

After discharge the agent opens a customs transit declaration, a document that lets the container cross Greek territory without duties because its final destination is another country. It then passes the crossing and heads for the inland customs terminal in Skopje. For addresses in the west of the country we compare Thessaloniki with the Albanian port of Durres on the Adriatic, and choose whichever gives the consignee the shortest time and the lowest road charge. We name the port in the booking before the container is closed.
| Port | Country and sea | Approximate road distance | Serves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thessaloniki | Greece, Aegean Sea | About 235 km to Skopje | Skopje, Kumanovo, Veles, the east and the centre |
| Thessaloniki via the south-western crossing | Greece, Aegean Sea | About 200 km to Bitola | Bitola and Prilep |
| Durres | Albania, Adriatic Sea | About 170 km to Ohrid | Ohrid and Struga when a suitable sailing is available |
| Piraeus | Greece, hub port | Sea transhipment to Thessaloniki | A connection point, not a delivery point |
Shipping prices from Jeddah to North Macedonia
The price is set by three things: what you ship, its volume in cubic metres or its weight in kilograms, and the Macedonian town where it is delivered. The figures below are starting prices, and the final charge is written after the items are surveyed or their list is received. The truck charge from the Greek port to Skopje is part of the door-to-door price for furniture.
| What you ship | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Document envelope | Express air | SAR 83 |
| Parcel up to 5 kilograms | Air | SAR 110 |
| Suitcases, belongings and samples | Air by the kilogram | SAR 23 per kilogram |
| Furniture and household belongings | Shared container | SAR 5,500 |
| A whole home’s furniture | Private container | SAR 11,000 |
| Saloon car | RoRo to the Mediterranean port | SAR 2,800 |
| Moving the car from the port to Skopje | Car transporter | Set on request |
| Palletised commercial goods | Shared container by the cubic metre | Set on request |
Prices circulating in the market: shipping offices do not publish prices for the Jeddah–Skopje line itself, and what we found were pages that present the service and ask the customer to call. What circulates is general pricing for Europe, and our figures are built on it: air by the kilogram, and furniture by shared or private container. So do not compare one figure with another until you know whether it includes road haulage from Thessaloniki and clearance in Skopje or stops at the port.
| Factor | Its effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Volume in cubic metres | The basis of sea freight, and it falls with good dismantling |
| Volumetric weight | The basis of air freight when a parcel is light and bulky |
| Delivery town | Skopje has the lowest road charge, and farther towns add a little |
| Container type | Private costs more and is quicker, shared is cheaper for a small volume |
| Packing required | Wooden crates for glass and marble are added to the charge |
| Season | Summer and the weeks after Hajj raise demand for bookings |
How do we estimate cost and time before booking?
We ask you for three things: a list of the items or photos of them, the collection address in Jeddah, and the Macedonian town. From the list we work out the volume, which you can also do yourself with the cubic metre calculator. We then write the charge for you line by line: packing, sea or air freight, road haulage and the broker’s fee. With it we state the date of the nearest sailing and the expected duration, not an ideal one that never comes true.
How do you cut the cost?
- Ship what is worth its freight, and sell or give away large cheap pieces before you travel.
- Dismantle beds, wardrobes and tables, as a dismantled piece takes half its volume.
- Choose a shared container if your volume is less than half a 20ft container.
- Book three weeks before your date to catch the nearest consolidation.
- Send only the urgent items by air, and leave the heavy ones to the sea.
- Fill the empty space in wardrobes and drawers with clothes and bedding.
What sets shipping from Jeddah apart?
Jeddah is the only Saudi city that has the largest container port on the Red Sea and an international airport within its limits. Your shipment therefore needs no road stage inside the Kingdom before the vessel, as happens to someone shipping from Riyadh. The truck gets from your district to the port gate in under an hour, and the container is loaded and enters the port the same day. Jeddah also has a large market for packing materials and crate workshops, so preparing a shipment does not wait on supplies from another city. It is the gateway for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims too, Macedonians among them, who hand us their excess luggage at the hotel before flying.
Packing and shipping furniture and household goods from Jeddah to North Macedonia
Furniture on this line is loaded and unloaded more than once: in Jeddah, then at the Greek port if the container is shared, then in Skopje. That makes packing more important than any other item. Our crew dismantles the large pieces at your home, wraps each piece in what suits it, and puts a number on it that matches a line in the inventory. That numbered inventory is the very document the Macedonian broker asks for, so its accuracy shortens the days of clearance.

Winter in Skopje is cold and damp, and the container passes through temperature swings between the Red Sea and the Balkans. So we place moisture-absorbing bags inside the container, and wrap mattresses and sofas in shrink film rather than blankets alone. Appliances travel in their original cartons where these exist, with the washing-machine drum secured and the refrigerator emptied and dried two days ahead. The materials are detailed in the packing guide.
- Bedrooms: beds and wardrobes are dismantled, and the screws go in a bag taped to the piece itself.
- Sofas and majlis seating: shrink film, then corrugated board on the corners and legs.
- Glass, mirrors and marble: a wooden crate for each piece with foam on both sides.
- Household appliances: a strong carton, with value and condition written in the inventory.
- Carpets: rolled, wrapped in film and loaded upright, not under heavy items.
- Clothes, books and kitchenware: numbered five-ply cartons, with crockery wrapped piece by piece.
Private container or shared container?
The decision rests on volume first. A home of three rooms and a lounge roughly fills a 20ft container, and a larger home with a car needs a 40ft. Someone with a bedroom and a few cartons does not need a whole container, and pays only for the cubic metres he occupies. The second difference is the number of handlings: a private container is sealed in Jeddah and opened in Skopje, while a shared one is sorted at the consolidation warehouse. Container dimensions are on the container sizes page.
| Point of comparison | Private container | Shared container |
|---|---|---|
| Suitable volume | A whole home or goods of 15 cubic metres or more | From one cubic metre to about 12 cubic metres |
| Duration | 22–30 days | 28–35 days |
| Handling | One loading and one unloading | Sorting at the consolidation warehouse, then a second loading |
| Price starts from | SAR 11,000 | SAR 5,500 |
| Departure | The nearest vessel after loading | When the consolidation is complete |
Shipping parcels, gifts and pilgrims’ luggage
Most parcels on this line are small: dates, prayer rugs, abayas, perfumes and gifts that a visitor buys in the markets of Jeddah and Makkah and cannot fit in a suitcase. We collect them from the hotel or the residence, weigh them in front of you and pack them in a strong carton. A parcel of up to five kilograms starts from SAR 110, and anything above is charged by the kilogram from SAR 23. Liquid perfumes have a limit in air freight, so we tell you what is accepted before packing. Zamzam water is not shipped as cargo, and the traveller carries it himself in its dedicated pack from the airport. The service is detailed on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping commercial goods from Jeddah to North Macedonia
A company selling to a customer in the Balkans does not need an export department to deliver his goods. The shipping company takes on the links that eat up a trader’s time: booking space on the vessel, the export declaration at Jeddah port, the transit declaration in Greece and clearance in Skopje. Your team thus stays busy with selling and production, and you know in advance what it costs to land the product at the importer’s door. That is what makes a small market such as the Macedonian one worthwhile for an exporter in Jeddah.
North Macedonia is not a member of the European Union, so it has its own customs tariff and a standard value added tax of 18%. The importer there needs a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin, and some categories need conformity or health certificates. Small quantities travel in a shared container by the cubic metre, a full container suits those whose goods fill it, and urgent samples and spare parts go by air. We agree the delivery term with both parties: to the port or to the buyer’s warehouse. More on the commercial shipping page.
- Goods often shipped: packed dates, plastic products, packaging materials, perfumes and cosmetics, fabrics and abayas.
- Dates and foodstuffs travel with a clear label, enough shelf life and a health certificate where one is required.
- A pallet is wrapped and strapped and marked with the consignee’s mark and its number out of the total.
- Chemicals and batteries are classed as dangerous goods, with their own papers and rates.
Car shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia
Shipping a car is possible, but the main question is not how it arrives but whether it can be registered there. A running car is driven onto the RoRo vessel at Jeddah Islamic Port and discharged at a Mediterranean port, and the fare for a saloon starts from SAR 2,800. A luxury or classic car is lashed by its wheels inside a closed container that reaches Thessaloniki. From the port it is loaded on a car transporter to Skopje under a transit declaration, and the charge for that stage is set on request.
At Macedonian customs the car is charged a basic customs duty of 5% of its value according to the published customs instructions, then the motor vehicle tax and 18% value added tax. Customs itself advises checking the conformity requirements with an authorised technical body before buying a car abroad. International moving guides state that a car is not accepted if it is older than ten years or below the Euro 5 emission standard, and we confirm what is in force before shipping. A Gulf-specification car usually carries no European certificate of conformity, so it needs an individual inspection. General details are on the car shipping page.
Customs in North Macedonia and the documents required
Clearance takes place in North Macedonia and not at the port of arrival, which is easier for the consignee because he deals with his own country’s customs in his own language. The broker opens the import declaration at the inland terminal, and moving guides put clearance at about two working days once the papers are complete. Treatment differs with the status of the shipment’s owner; the table sums up current practice, and we confirm what is in force with the broker before every shipment because the conditions change.
| Status of the owner | Treatment currently applied | How the status is proved |
|---|---|---|
| Returning Macedonian citizen | Relief for used belongings, on conditions | Proof of residence abroad and of owning the items before returning |
| Foreigner on a work contract | Temporary import at the employer’s request, or duty and 18% tax on the declared value | Employment letter showing the length of stay, and the tenancy contract |
| Diplomat | Full relief | Import protocol from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a diplomatic card |
| Commercial importer | Duty by tariff heading and value added tax | Commercial invoice and the importing company’s registration |
The following papers are prepared before the container is closed, not after it arrives. Their forms and explanations are on the shipping documents page, and the clearance service on the customs clearance page.
| Document | Issued by | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Passport copy | The owner of the shipment | With the final exit visa for a departing resident |
| Macedonian identity card or residence permit | The consignee | A temporary one is accepted according to moving guides |
| Detailed inventory | Us, at packing | Numbered, with an estimated value for each line |
| Pro-forma invoice of value | The owner of the shipment | For personal effects; a commercial invoice for goods |
| Bill of lading or air waybill | The carrier | The original is sent to the consignee or released electronically |
| Tenancy contract and employment letter | The consignee and his employer | For a foreign employee who is relocating |
| Saudi export declaration | Us, through the broker in Jeddah | Issued at Jeddah port or the airport |
What cannot be shipped to North Macedonia or needs a permit
Prohibited items are of two kinds: what the air or sea carrier refuses as dangerous, and what Macedonian customs bans or restricts. It is best to ask about an item before it is packed, because taking a piece out of a sealed container costs more than the piece is worth. The general list is on the prohibited items page, and this is what concerns this line.
| Item | Rule | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons, ammunition, narcotics, toxic or radioactive materials | Prohibited | Not loaded |
| Used appliances: refrigerators, air conditioners, screens and computers | Restricted in non-diplomatic shipments according to moving guides | We review the list with the broker before packing |
| Plants, seeds and seedlings | Need permits and a plant-health certificate | Not loaded without a certificate |
| Meat, dairy and animal products | Restricted | Not loaded with personal effects |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with a prescription | The prescription is attached and the medicines stay in their packs |
| Tobacco and cigarettes | A small personal allowance | Anything above it is charged duty |
| Lithium batteries, perfumes and aerosols | Restricted by air | Shipped by sea or in dangerous-goods packaging |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped as cargo | The traveller carries it in its dedicated pack |
Delivering shipments from Jeddah in Skopje, Bitola, Ohrid and Tetovo
The country is small in area, which eases the last stage. After release at the customs terminal the truck leaves for the address, and it reaches the town farthest from the capital in about three hours. In Skopje we usually deliver the day after release, and in the other towns within one to three days. The crew carries the pieces inside the home and checks them against the inventory in front of the consignee.

Some addresses need arranging in advance. The old quarter of Skopje and the lanes of Ohrid overlooking the lake cannot take large trucks, so we move the items onto a small vehicle at the nearest point. Old blocks without a goods lift need more porters. Mention these details when you book so that we write them into the delivery order.
| Town | Location | Delivery after release | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skopje | The capital, with the clearance terminal | One day | The old quarter needs a small vehicle |
| Bitola | South-west, about 170 km from the capital | 1–2 days | Close to the Greek border |
| Ohrid | On Lake Ohrid, about 170 km from the capital | 2–3 days | Narrow lanes near the lake |
| Tetovo | North-west, about 40 km from the capital | One day | Served with Gostivar in one run |
| Kumanovo | North of the capital, about 40 km | One day | On the road to the northern border |
| Prilep, Veles, Stip and Strumica | The centre and the east | 1–3 days | Grouped in one distribution run |
Services for individuals and companies, storage and distribution
An individual wants someone to carry the whole burden for him: survey, packing, shipping, clearance and delivery, with one number to call. A company wants something else: regular schedules, clear invoices and export documents that are right the first time. We also serve embassies and bodies that move their staff’s belongings, with inventories suited to the diplomatic relief procedure.
Storage is part of the service when the travel date does not match the vessel’s date. Someone who has handed back his home in Jeddah before his accommodation in Skopje is ready leaves his belongings in our warehouse, wrapped and numbered, until he asks for them to be shipped. A trader who gathers goods from more than one supplier has them received in turn and loaded into a single container. In North Macedonia the agent can distribute a container to more than one address after clearance. The terms are on the storage page.
Air freight from Jeddah to North Macedonia
The aircraft is the answer when time matters more than the fare. The shipment leaves King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, changes aircraft at a transit airport such as Istanbul, and lands at Skopje International Airport, where the agent clears and delivers it. The time is 4 to 7 days door to door, and 3 to 5 days for express documents. The price starts from SAR 23 per kilogram, and from SAR 83 for a document envelope.

The air fare is charged on whichever is greater, the actual weight or the volumetric weight. A light, bulky carton such as blankets is charged on its volume rather than its weight, and you can find that out beforehand with the volumetric weight calculator. So we compress clothes and bedding in vacuum bags and choose a carton that fits the contents. The country has a second airport at Ohrid, but freight is delivered through Skopje and then by road. The service is detailed on the air freight page.
| Type of air shipment | Duration | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Document envelope | 3–5 days | SAR 83 | Handed over against a signature |
| Parcel up to 5 kilograms | 4–7 days | SAR 110 | Gifts, dates and clothes |
| Suitcases and urgent belongings | 4–7 days | SAR 23 per kilogram | By actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater |
| Samples and spare parts | 4–7 days | SAR 23 per kilogram | With a commercial invoice |
| Commercial shipment on a pallet | 5–8 days | Set on request | According to weight and available space |
Air or sea, and is there overland freight to North Macedonia?
The rule is simple: anything under a hundred kilograms that you need soon goes by air, and anything measured in cubic metres goes by sea. Many of our customers combine the two: the first week’s suitcase by aircraft, and the rest of the home in the container. The full overland route from Jeddah is not one we offer, because it crosses many countries and borders and saves neither money nor time. Road transport with us is only the final stage from the port of Thessaloniki. The fuller comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page.
| Point of comparison | Sea then truck | Air |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 22–35 days | 4–7 days |
| Basis of charge | Cubic metre or container | Actual or volumetric kilogram |
| Suits | Furniture, cars and bulky goods | Parcels, luggage, samples and documents |
| Restrictions | Few, with papers for dangerous goods | Batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted |
| Price starts from | SAR 5,500 for furniture | SAR 23 per kilogram |
Collection from Jeddah’s districts and nearby towns
We collect from the home, office or warehouse, and do not ask you to take anything to the port. In the modern northern districts the truck usually stops in front of the building. In the older central districts with narrow streets we send a smaller vehicle and set a time outside the rush. The hours at which large trucks may enter some of Jeddah’s roads are regulated, so we arrange the loading time around them.
| Area | Districts and towns | Collection note |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | Obhur Al-Shamaliyah and Al-Janubiyah, Ash-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, Al-Basateen, An-Naeem | Easy access for medium trucks |
| Central Jeddah | Ar-Rawdah, As-Salamah, Al-Hamra, Al-Andalus, Al-Faisaliyah, As-Safa | A slot outside peak hours |
| South and east Jeddah | Al-Balad, Al-Kandarah, Al-Jamiah, As-Samer, Al-Ajwad, Al-Hamdaniyah | A small vehicle in the narrow streets |
| Industrial and warehouse areas | Al-Khumrah and the Industrial City | Pallets loaded by forklift |
| Nearby towns | Makkah, Taif, Bahrah, Dhahban, Thuwal, Rabigh, Al Lith | By appointment, with an inland haulage charge |
Steps for shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia
The process runs in one order whether you ship a carton or a home. The most important point in that order is that the North Macedonia paperwork is reviewed before packing, not after.
- You call 0552803439 or send the list of items and their photos by WhatsApp, with the Macedonian town.
- We settle the suitable method and the port, and send the itemised charge with the date of the nearest sailing or flight.
- We review with the broker in Skopje your customs status and the restricted items on your list.
- The crew arrives on the day, dismantles, wraps, numbers and writes the inventory, and you sign it.
- The items are loaded and the container sealed, or the parcels go to the consolidation warehouse or the airport.
- We issue the export declaration and you receive the bill number to follow the vessel or flight.
- The agent receives the container in Thessaloniki, opens the transit declaration and moves it to Skopje.
- The broker clears the shipment and delivers it to the address, and the consignee signs that it matches the inventory.
Tracking the shipment from Jeddah to Skopje
Tracking on this line has three links, each with its own source. At sea you follow the container by its number on the shipping line’s website, where you see the transhipment port and the expected arrival date. In the air you follow by the air waybill number. The road stage from Thessaloniki, however, does not appear in the shipping lines’ systems, so we report three milestones to you ourselves: the container leaving the port, crossing the border and reaching the clearance terminal. How to read tracking statuses is on the shipment tracking page. If the connecting vessel is delayed we tell you the new date as soon as it is announced, so that the consignee can plan.
Insuring the shipment and the types of cover
The liability of sea and air carriers is capped by weight, not by value, so their compensation for a broken sofa comes nowhere near its price. Insurance is an optional item that closes this gap, calculated as a percentage of the value you declare. On a line with a vessel, perhaps a transhipment and then a truck, we advise it for every furniture container and every car. The full terms are on the cargo insurance page.
| Type of cover | What it covers | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| All risks | Breakage, water damage, theft and loss from door to door | Furniture, appliances and cars |
| Restricted | Total loss and major carrier accidents | Sturdy goods that are little affected |
| Declared value per item | Each piece compensated at its value in the inventory | Antiques, paintings and valuable pieces |
A claim needs evidence, which is why we photograph the pieces before packing and record their condition in the inventory. The consignee should write any remark on the delivery note before signing, and report damage within the period stated in the policy.
Shipping from North Macedonia to Jeddah
The reverse direction serves traders who import food and industrial products from the Balkans, and Saudis who have bought furniture or other pieces there. Our agent collects from the factory or home and prepares the Macedonian export declaration, and the shipment leaves by truck for the Greek port and then by sea to Jeddah Islamic Port. Urgent items travel by air to King Abdulaziz Airport. In the Kingdom new goods attract duty according to their category and 15% value added tax, and some categories need a Saudi conformity certificate before shipping. The charge in this direction is set on request.
Tips before shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia
- Ask the consignee for his Macedonian identity or residence number written in Latin letters as it appears on the document.
- Send the list of electrical appliances first, as they are what customs there asks about most.
- Keep whatever proves your residence in the Kingdom: the residence permit, the work contract and the final exit visa.
- Do not put cash, gold or original documents in the container; carry them with you.
- Write the contents of each carton on its side in English, as the broker reads rather than opens.
- Agree with the consignee who will be at the address on delivery day with his identity document.
- If the accommodation is not ready, ask for storage in Jeddah, which is cheaper than port demurrage.
Solving possible problems during shipping
Most problems in international shipping are foreseeable, and what is foreseen can be prepared for. For each shipment we note what could hold it up and who acts when it does, and we keep the line open with the customer and the agent until delivery.
- The connecting vessel is delayed: we book the nearest alternative and tell you the new date.
- Customs asks for an extra document: the broker contacts you directly, and we help issue it from Jeddah if needed.
- An item is refused at inspection: it is separated from the rest of the shipment so that the whole is not held.
- The consignee is absent on delivery day: the shipment is kept at the agent’s warehouse and another date is set.
- Visible damage on opening: it is photographed, written on the delivery note, and the insurance claim is opened.
How do you choose a shipping company from Jeddah to North Macedonia?
The destination is unfamiliar, which makes it easy to tell who knows it. Ask the office two questions: which port does the container reach, and where is it cleared? Anyone who answers that it arrives at the port of Skopje does not know the line. Then look at its reputation among people who have actually shipped with it, and at how far its coverage extends inside the country, not just in the capital.
| Good sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|
| Names the port, the land crossing and the clearance terminal | Talks about a seaport in a country with no coast |
| A visible commercial registration and a known address in Jeddah | A phone number only, with no establishment name |
| An itemised charge showing what the price includes | A lump sum that stops at the port without saying so |
| Asks about the consignee’s status and papers before booking | Promises customs relief without seeing a single paper |
| A named agent in Skopje who contacts the consignee | Does not know who receives the container there |
| Delivers in Bitola, Ohrid and Tetovo | Delivers in the capital only and leaves the rest to you |
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia
- Confusing North Macedonia with the Greek region of Macedonia when writing the address, so the shipment is booked for another country.
- Assuming that European Union rules apply, when the country has its own customs and tariff.
- Shipping many used appliances without asking the broker about them first.
- Comparing a price that includes delivery in Skopje with one that stops at the port of Thessaloniki.
- Shipping a car before checking its age, its emission standard and whether it can be registered.
- Writing a brief inventory such as “household items” with no count and no value.
- Booking a week before travelling, when a shared container needs time to fill.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia
How long does shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia take?
North Macedonia has no coast, so the time combines a sea leg and a road leg. A private container usually needs 22 to 30 days from your door in Jeddah to the consignee’s door in Skopje, and a shared container 28 to 35 days because it waits for the consolidation to fill. An air parcel arrives in 4 to 7 days through a transit airport.
How much does shipping from Jeddah to North Macedonia cost?
An air kilogram starts from SAR 23, an express document envelope from SAR 83 and a parcel of up to five kilograms from SAR 110. Furniture in a shared container starts from SAR 5,500, a private container for a whole home from SAR 11,000, and the RoRo fare for a saloon car as far as the Mediterranean port from SAR 2,800. Road haulage of the car beyond the port is set on request.
Which port does the container reach, given that North Macedonia has no sea?
The usual port is Thessaloniki in northern Greece, on the Aegean, about 235 kilometres from Skopje. From there the container continues by truck or by container train under the customs transit regime. The Albanian port of Durres is an alternative for western addresses such as Ohrid and Struga whenever a suitable sailing is available.
Where is the shipment cleared, in Greece or in North Macedonia?
In North Macedonia. The container crosses Greek territory sealed under a transit declaration, and no duties are paid on it there. It is then presented to Macedonian customs at an inland terminal, most often in Skopje, where the declaration is opened in the consignee’s name and any charges due are settled.
Will I pay customs on my used furniture in North Macedonia?
That depends on your status. Under current practice a returning citizen is relieved once he proves his residence abroad and that the belongings were already his, and a diplomat is relieved through a Ministry of Foreign Affairs protocol. A foreigner arriving on a work contract may be asked for temporary import or for duty and 18% value added tax. We confirm the case in force with the broker before booking.
Which documents are needed to ship household belongings?
A passport copy, the consignee’s Macedonian identity card or residence permit, a detailed inventory with values, and the bill of lading or air waybill. A foreign employee adds the employer’s letter and the tenancy contract, and a returning citizen adds proof of his previous residence in the Kingdom. We review the whole file before the container is closed.
Do you ship a car from Jeddah to North Macedonia?
Yes, by sea to the Mediterranean port and then on a car transporter to Skopje. First ask whether it can be registered there, though: Macedonian customs advise checking the conformity requirements before buying or shipping, and moving guides mention a limit on the car’s age and emission standard. Send the chassis number and year of manufacture and we look into it before any payment.
Can used electrical and electronic appliances be shipped?
Some of them need checking in advance. International moving guides mention restrictions on used appliances in non-diplomatic shipments, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and screens, and an environmental permit may be required for them. So we send the appliance list to the broker in Skopje before packing, and we do not load an appliance that is likely to be refused.
Will my Saudi appliances work in North Macedonia?
The voltage there is 230 V, close to that of the Kingdom, but the frequency is 50 Hz rather than 60 and the socket is the European type with two round pins. A phone, a computer and a television need only a new plug. For a washing machine, an air conditioner and anything with a motor, read the rating plate before paying to ship it.
Can dates and gifts be shipped from Jeddah?
Yes, in personal quantities and in sealed factory packs, and they are among the things most often sent by Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from North Macedonia. A small gift between individuals has a value limit set by Macedonian customs. Meat, dairy and ghee, however, are not loaded, and Zamzam water is not shipped as cargo.
Do you deliver outside Skopje?
Yes, in Bitola, Ohrid, Tetovo, Kumanovo, Prilep, Gostivar, Struga, Veles, Stip and Strumica. The truck leaves the clearance terminal after release, and the farthest town is no more than three hours’ drive from the capital. We agree the delivery time with the consignee by phone a day ahead.
Is there overland freight from Jeddah to North Macedonia?
We do not offer it. The overland route crosses several countries and many borders, and neither its cost nor its duration justifies choosing it for furniture or goods. Road transport on this line is the final stage only, from the Greek port to Skopje. The fast alternative to the sea is the aircraft.
Do you ship commercial goods in small quantities?
Yes. A single pallet or a few cartons travel in a shared container and are charged by the cubic metre, and an urgent sample travels by air by the kilogram. We prepare the commercial invoice, the packing list and the certificate of origin, and the broker in Skopje handles the customs declaration in the importer’s name.
Do you collect the shipment from my home in Jeddah?
We do, across Jeddah’s districts and out to Makkah, Taif, Rabigh, Thuwal and Al Lith by appointment. Our team brings the materials with it, takes the large pieces apart, wraps and numbers each one, and draws up the inventory on the spot for you to sign. For a single carton or a couple of suitcases, drop them at the warehouse or let us send a driver to your door.
Do you ship from North Macedonia to Jeddah?
Yes, through our agent there. He collects from the factory or home in Skopje or elsewhere, and the shipment leaves by truck for the Greek port and then by sea to Jeddah Islamic Port, or by air to King Abdulaziz Airport. New goods attract duty in the Kingdom according to their category and 15% value added tax.
