Who ships by air from Jeddah to Spain?
The air route between Jeddah and Spain serves different groups with one thing in common: a shipment that cannot wait weeks at sea. Some are individuals sending to their families or to themselves, and some are companies bound by delivery dates. Knowing which group you belong to shortens the way to the right service and the documents required.
| Who | What they send | Why by air |
|---|---|---|
| A student or scholarship holder in Madrid or Barcelona | Bags, books and cartons of clothes | They arrive before term starts, and cost less than excess baggage on the ticket |
| A family with a relative in Spain | Dates, gifts and clothes | An occasion or a festival with a date |
| Someone relocating to live or work | What they need in their first weeks | Their furniture is at sea, and their urgent needs go ahead |
| A company or exporter | Samples, documents and contracts | A deal or tender with a closing date |
| An exhibitor at a trade fair | Display materials, printed matter and products | The fair does not wait |
| A factory or workshop | Spare parts and light equipment | A stopped production line costs more than the air fare |
| A Hajj or Umrah pilgrim returning to Spain | Luggage and purchases beyond the flight allowance | They follow a few days after the pilgrim arrives |
What does air freight to Spain suit, and what does it not?
The aircraft buys you time, and you pay for it by the kilogram. It is the right choice when the shipment is light, high in value or due soon, and an expensive one when the shipment is heavy or bulky with no deadline behind it. The practical rule: anything under a few hundred kilograms is worth pricing by air, and anything above is worth pricing by sea.
- Suits: documents, contracts and attested certificates.
- Suits: personal parcels, gifts and dates in family quantities.
- Suits: electronics, spare parts and commercial samples.
- Suits: excess luggage for students and travellers.
- Does not suit: household furniture and large appliances, which belong in a container.
- Does not suit: flammable liquids and compressed gases in an ordinary parcel.
Air freight has two advantages besides speed. The first is that the shipment is handled fewer times and stays in closed, monitored warehouses, so the chance of breakage and loss is lower. The second is that its timings follow a published flight schedule, which makes it easy for a trader to promise a customer a date. The general service is described on the air freight page.
The route and transit time of air freight from Jeddah to Spain
The flight itself is the shortest stage of the journey: about six hours on a direct flight between Jeddah and Madrid or Barcelona. The remaining days go on collection, preparation, waiting for the flight, clearance at both airports and the final delivery. Direct flights to Madrid and Barcelona operate on the route according to the current schedule, the Malaga flight is seasonal, and when there is no space on them the shipment passes through a transit airport. We confirm the available routing before booking.
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection from your address in Jeddah | Inspection, a first weighing and packing if needed | The same day or the next |
| The cargo terminal at King Abdulaziz Airport | Weighing, measuring, security screening and the export declaration | One day |
| The flight | Direct, or through a transit airport | From hours to two days |
| The Spanish airport | Unloading, customs clearance and payment of what is due | One to two days |
| Delivery to the address | A distribution lorry within the city or between cities | One to two days |
Adding these stages together gives a door-to-door time of 3–5 working days to Madrid and Barcelona, and 4–6 days to Valencia, Malaga and the cities served from them. A parcel or envelope on the express service cuts this to 2–4 days. The full table of destinations is on the transit times page.
What lengthens the transit time?
- Incomplete consignee details: a missing Spanish ID number or mobile number stops the shipment at customs.
- A vague description of the contents: “personal effects” with no detail invites the inspector to open the parcel.
- A restricted item inside the parcel: a perfume or a loose battery stops the whole parcel at security screening.
- Peak seasons: the end of summer, the start of the academic year and Christmas are peaks at Spanish airports.
- The weekend: Spanish customs does not release ordinary parcels on Saturdays and Sundays.
Acceptance, weighing and screening at the King Abdulaziz International Airport cargo terminal
Every air shipment from Jeddah passes through the cargo terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport before it boards the aircraft. There it turns from cartons at your door into a shipment accepted for flight, with a recorded weight, a waybill and a tracking number. Our representative handles all these steps, so you do not need to go to the airport yourself.

| Step | What happens | What is needed from you |
|---|---|---|
| Acceptance | The shipment is handed to the acceptance warehouse before the flight cut-off | To have it ready and packed at the agreed time |
| Weighing and measuring | A certified scale and the three dimensions of every piece | Nothing, and we send you the chargeable weight |
| Security screening | Every piece passes through the X-ray machine and may be opened for checking | An honest statement of the contents |
| Export declaration | The declaration is lodged with Saudi customs | A copy of your ID or residence permit, and the invoice for commercial goods |
| Air waybill | Issued in the names of the sender and consignee, showing weight and description | To check the name and address before it is issued |
| Preparation for loading | The shipment is built up on a pallet or in an air container | Nothing |
The weight recorded at the terminal is the final reference for charging, not the weight you measured at home. The difference is usually small, but we tell you about it before the waybill is issued, not after. The acceptance cut-off comes some hours before the flight departs and varies from one carrier to another, so early collection secures your place on the nearest flight.
How is chargeable weight calculated in air freight?
Airlines sell space and weight together, so they do not charge you on the scale alone. They work out a volumetric weight for your shipment from its dimensions, compare it with the actual weight and take the greater, known as the chargeable weight. The formula: length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000. You can try it on your shipment in the volumetric weight calculator before you call.
| Shipment | Actual weight | Volumetric weight | You pay for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A carton of books, 40 × 30 × 30 cm | 18 kg | 6 kg | 18 kg |
| A carton of clothes, 60 × 50 × 40 cm | 12 kg | 20 kg | 20 kg |
| A suitcase, 75 × 50 × 30 cm | 23 kg | 18.75 kg | 23 kg |
| A pallet of goods, 120 × 80 × 100 cm | 140 kg | 160 kg | 160 kg |
The lesson of the table is clear: books and metals are charged by their weight, while clothes, pillows and plastics are charged by their volume. Anyone sending something light and bulky gains by compressing it into a smaller carton, and anyone sending something heavy gains nothing from a smaller carton.
Air freight prices from Jeddah to Spain
The price is built on the chargeable weight, the type of service and the Spanish city. The figures below are starting prices to Madrid and Barcelona airports, and the final figure reaches you once we know the weight, the dimensions and the contents of the shipment. Spanish customs duty and tax are always outside the freight charge.
| Shipment | Price |
|---|---|
| Express documents up to one kilogram | Starts from SAR 83 |
| Express parcel up to 5 kilograms | Starts from SAR 110 |
| General air cargo, per kilogram | Starts from SAR 23 |
| The 100-kilogram band and above | Lower per kilogram, set on request |
| The 300 and 500-kilogram bands and above | Set on request |
| Delivery to the door outside Madrid and Barcelona | Set on request |
| Declared dangerous goods or chilled goods | Set on request |
| Insurance on the shipment | A percentage of the value, set on request |
An illustration at the starting price: a luggage shipment with a chargeable weight of 50 kilograms starts from SAR 1,150. Send the weight, the dimensions and the city to 0552803439 and the itemised price reaches you the same day.
Prices quoted in the market: few shipping offices publish a price for this particular route, and most settle for the phrase “price on request”. What is published on European booking platforms for the Kingdom-to-Spain route starts from about 32 euros for an express document envelope, roughly SAR 140, and from about 59 euros for an express parcel, roughly SAR 260, both before tax. Guides to commercial air freight give a general range of 2.5 to 8 dollars per kilogram, or about SAR 9 to 30, depending on the route and the season. Our prices above sit below the published figures for the envelope and the parcel, and within the general range per kilogram.
| What sets the price | Its effect |
|---|---|
| Chargeable weight | The first factor, and the rate per kilogram falls with each higher band |
| Type of service | Express door to door costs more than general cargo to the airport |
| The Spanish city | Madrid and Barcelona are the cheapest, and beyond them inland haulage is added |
| Nature of the goods | Dangerous, chilled and valuable goods need special handling |
| Season | The summer and year-end peaks raise the cost of space |
| Fuel and security surcharges | They change monthly at the carriers, and we show them as a visible line |
How do you reduce the cost?
- Choose a carton that fits the contents, because empty space is charged to you as volumetric weight.
- Combine your parcels into one shipment to reach a higher weight band at a lower rate per kilogram.
- Ship two weeks before the peak if your date is known.
- Collect from the Spanish airport if you have a broker there.
- Send what is heavy and not urgent by sea, and leave to the aircraft what you need at once.
A fuller explanation of the factors is on the pricing factors page.
Express parcels and documents from Jeddah to Spain
An envelope and a small parcel have a service of their own, different from general air cargo: an express network that collects from the door, clears customs itself and delivers by hand against a signature. It is the fastest for small weights, because the parcel does not wait for a consolidation or for a broker to be appointed. Our representative collects it from your address in Jeddah, it is packed securely, and it usually enters the network the same day.

| Type | Examples | Time to Madrid and Barcelona | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Documents up to one kilogram | Contracts, certificates, powers of attorney, passports, university admission papers | 2–4 working days | Starts from SAR 83 |
| A parcel up to 5 kilograms | A gift, clothes, a box of dates, a spare part | 2–4 working days | Starts from SAR 110 |
| A parcel of 5 to 30 kilograms | A carton of clothes, books, tools | 3–5 working days | Set on request |
Documents have no commercial value, so they pass through Spanish customs with no duty and no tax. A parcel, however, has its contents and value declared item by item. Official papers that will be submitted to a Spanish authority, such as certificates and powers of attorney, are best attested and translated before they are sent, so that they do not come back to you for completion. The service is detailed on the parcel shipping page.
Students’, travellers’ and relocators’ luggage by air
Spain has Saudi and Arab students at the universities of Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Valencia and Salamanca, and residents who moved there for work. They send bags and cartons that the ticket allowance cannot take. The arithmetic is simple: an excess kilogram at the airport counter usually costs more than a kilogram of air freight, and the shipment is collected from home and delivered to the accommodation.
- The student: used clothes, books and study equipment are relieved in the European Union under conditions, and a letter of admission or enrolment is requested.
- The person transferring residence: used belongings are relieved if they lived outside the Union for a year or more and owned them for six months, under the rules currently applied.
- The tourist and visitor: what is sent to them is treated as an ordinary parcel at its value.
- New goods with invoices: they are outside the relief, and tax is charged on them.
Anyone moving a whole home splits the shipment: two or three bags by air with what is needed in the first month, and the rest in a sea container. Shipping relocators’ furniture is explained on the furniture shipping page.
Dates, gifts and food in air freight to Spain
Dates are what most often leaves Jeddah as a gift for family and friends in Spain, followed by coffee, cardamom, spices and sweets. The European Union draws a sharp line between food of plant origin and food of animal origin, so what passes in the first group does not pass in the second. Checking the contents of the carton before it is sealed prevents the parcel being destroyed at the airport.
- Dates: allowed, and under the rules currently applied they need no plant-health certificate.
- Coffee, cardamom, spices and nuts: allowed in personal quantities in their sealed packs.
- Meat, dairy, ghee and their products: prohibited in personal parcels.
- Honey: in a small personal quantity, and we confirm the current limit before shipping.
- Zamzam water: not shipped as cargo.
Commercial air cargo and samples on pallets
A commercial shipment differs from a parcel in almost everything: space is booked for it on a specific flight, it is stacked on a pallet, wrapped and strapped, and it is cleared on an import declaration in the name of the Spanish company. Preparing its documents begins before it leaves your warehouse, because an error in the tariff heading or the importer’s name is corrected after take-off only at a cost in money and time.

| Type | What sets it apart | What we prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Samples for companies | Small in value and critical in timing | A sample invoice with a true value and a precise description |
| Exhibition materials | They enter and return after the fair ends | Temporary admission arranged with the fair’s broker, where available |
| Goods on pallets | Weights from a hundred kilograms to several tonnes | Stacking, wrapping, strapping and labels for every pallet |
| Urgent spare parts | A factory, a vessel or a machine at a standstill | The nearest flight, and follow-up until delivery |
| Saudi products for export | Dates, food and fragrance products, and textiles | A certificate of origin and the European labelling requirements |
The Spanish importer needs a European customs identification number before the shipment arrives, and some goods require the European conformity mark or a health registration. The delivery terms agreed between seller and buyer decide who pays the freight and who pays the duties, so write them on the invoice. An aircraft pallet is lower than a container pallet, because the hold door limits the height of a piece, so we ask you for the dimensions before stacking. Details are on the commercial shipping page.
Sensitive goods: valuable, fragile and temperature-controlled
One reason for choosing the aircraft is that some goods tolerate neither humidity nor a long journey: measuring instruments, lenses, electronic parts and heat-sensitive materials. These are accepted by air by prior arrangement, not on an ordinary booking. Chilled goods need insulated packaging and cool storage at both airports, and valuable goods need a declared value and insurance that covers it.
- Fragile: a double-wall carton, foam cut to the shape of the piece, and orientation marks.
- Valuable: a declared value and insurance, and delivery by hand against ID.
- Chilled: accepted on a special booking and priced on request once the required temperature is known.
- Personal medicines: with a prescription and in a defined treatment quantity.
Documents required and export procedures from Jeddah
The documents are few for an individual and more for a company, and errors in them are the first cause of delay. We issue the air waybill and lodge the export declaration with Saudi customs, and you supply what proves your identity and describes your shipment. The consignee’s details in Spain matter no less than your own.
| Type of shipment | From the sender in Jeddah | From the consignee in Spain |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | A copy of the ID or residence permit | Name, address and mobile number |
| A personal parcel or gift | ID, and a statement of the contents with the value of each item | Spanish ID number or foreigner’s number, mobile number and email |
| A student’s luggage | Passport and a list of contents | Letter of admission or enrolment, and the accommodation address |
| A relocator’s luggage | Passport and a detailed list | Proof of previous residence and municipal registration |
| Commercial goods | Commercial registration, invoice, packing list and certificate of origin | The importer’s European customs number, and any licences the goods require |
Write the true value on the declaration. An understated value saves nothing once the Spanish inspector asks for proof of price, and it weakens your compensation if the parcel is damaged. Each document is explained on the shipping documents page.
Spanish customs on air shipments
Spain is a member of the European Union, so it applies the Union’s customs rules and its own national tax to arrivals from the Kingdom. Every shipment enters on an electronic declaration, whether small or large. The rules below are those currently applied, and some of them change, so we confirm what is in force for your case before shipping.
| Item | The rule currently applied |
|---|---|
| Documents | No duty and no tax |
| A gift from one private person to another | Exempt up to a value of 45 euros, provided it is free of charge and occasional |
| Value added tax | Mostly 21%, with reduced rates for some foods and books, calculated on the value plus the freight charge |
| Low-value parcels | The European Union has changed the exemption for goods under 150 euros, and a small fixed duty per item now applies; we confirm what is in force before shipping |
| Above 150 euros | Customs duty according to the tariff heading, then the tax |
| Students’ and relocators’ luggage | Relieved under conditions and with documents |
| The consignee’s identity | The broker asks for the Spanish ID number or foreigner’s number to complete the declaration |
| The Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla | Outside the European tax area, with a local tax and a special procedure |
The consignee is the one who pays what is due in Spain unless agreed otherwise, and an administration fee is added that the carrier takes for presenting the declaration. So tell the consignee before shipping, lest they refuse the parcel and it comes back at your expense. Anyone who wishes to bear the charges for the consignee asks for the delivered-duty-paid service, which is priced on request. The procedures are on the customs clearance page.
What cannot fly: prohibited, restricted and dangerous goods
The restrictions of an aircraft are tighter than those of a ship or a lorry, because anything that ignites or leaks in a closed hold at high altitude endangers the whole flight. That is why every piece is X-rayed before acceptance. Much of what is refused is not prohibited in itself; it is accepted when it is declared as dangerous goods and packed in approved packaging.
| Item | Status by air |
|---|---|
| Lithium batteries inside their devices | Accepted under conditions: the device switched off and protected, and the battery label on the parcel |
| Loose lithium batteries and power banks | Not loaded on passenger aircraft, and shipped on freighter aircraft under a special declaration |
| Perfumes and cologne | Flammable liquids, accepted only as declared dangerous goods |
| Aerosol cans, hair sprays and air fresheners | Compressed gases, not accepted in an ordinary parcel |
| Nail polish, its remover and paints | Flammable, restricted |
| Incense, charcoal, matches and lighters | Prohibited or restricted depending on the type |
| Cash, gold and jewellery | Not accepted in ordinary freight |
| Meat and dairy in personal parcels | Prohibited by the European Union |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated at the Spanish airport, and the consignee may be fined |
| Medicines | With a prescription and in a personal quantity |
Perfumes, oud oil and incense are what is most often turned back in Jeddah, because the sender regards them as an ordinary gift. If they are in your shipment, mention them when you order, and we will tell you whether they can be accepted as declared goods or should go by sea. The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering air freight in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Malaga
Spain is a large country, and the airport where the shipment lands decides the day of delivery. Madrid is in the centre of the country and its airport is the first gateway for air cargo, Barcelona serves the north-east, Valencia the east coast, and Malaga Andalusia and the Costa del Sol. Cities with no suitable cargo flight are served by lorry from the nearest airport, and delivery is to the address in every case.

| City | Airport | Door-to-door time | Also serves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Madrid | Madrid-Barajas | 3–5 days | Toledo, Salamanca, Valladolid, Zaragoza |
| Barcelona | Barcelona-El Prat | 3–5 days | Girona, Tarragona, Lleida |
| Valencia | Valencia Airport, or Madrid then by road | 4–6 days | Alicante, Murcia, Castellon |
| Malaga | Malaga-Costa del Sol, or Madrid then by road | 4–6 days | Marbella, Granada, Cordoba, Seville |
| Bilbao and the north | Madrid then by road | 4–6 days | San Sebastian, Santander, Pamplona |
| The Balearic Islands | Barcelona or Madrid then a domestic flight | Set on request | Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza |
Write the address the way Spaniards write it: the street and building number, then the floor and door, then the five-digit postcode and the city. A Spanish mobile number is essential, because the courier calls before arriving, and if nobody is found leaves a notice and returns a second time or deposits the parcel at a collection point. Destination details are on the shipping destinations page.
Air or sea freight to Spain? And where do cars fit?
There is no practical land route between the Kingdom and Spain, so the comparison is between the aircraft and the ship alone. The ship sails from Jeddah Islamic Port through the Suez Canal to Valencia or Barcelona and carries a kilogram for a small fraction of the cost of the aircraft, but it needs weeks. Two questions settle the choice: how much does the shipment weigh, and when must it arrive?
| Comparison | Air | Sea |
|---|---|---|
| Door-to-door time | 3–6 days | 20–32 days |
| Best for | The urgent, the light and the valuable | Furniture, cars and heavy goods |
| Method of charging | Per kilogram of chargeable weight | Per cubic metre or per container |
| Restrictions | Tighter on liquids and batteries | Wider |
| Price | Starts from SAR 23 per kilogram | A part load starts from SAR 5,500, and a full container from SAR 11,000 |
The car is a clear example. Flying it is possible on a freighter aircraft, and it is requested by owners of luxury and classic cars and show cars, at a price set on request. An ordinary car, however, goes by sea on RoRo from SAR 2,800, and the details are in the article on car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Spain. Sea freight for furniture and goods is explained in the article on international shipping from Saudi Arabia to Spain, and the general comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Express shipping or general air cargo?
Within air freight itself there are two services that many people confuse. The first is express shipping through the international parcel networks, door to door at a single price. The second is general air cargo on airline flights, booked per kilogram from airport to airport, with clearance and delivery added. Our role is to place your shipment on whichever suits its weight, not to sell you one service for everything.
| Comparison | Express shipping | General air cargo |
|---|---|---|
| Suitable weight | Up to about 30 kilograms per parcel | From 45 kilograms upwards |
| Delivery | Always to the door | To the airport, or to the door on request |
| Clearance | Handled by the network | A broker we appoint or the consignee appoints |
| Rate per kilogram | Higher at large weights | Lower as the weight rises |
| Best for | Documents, gifts and samples | Plenty of luggage and goods on pallets |
Packing for air freight
An air shipment is handled by hand and by forklift, other shipments are stacked on top of it, and pressure and temperature change around it in the hold. Good packing here has two jobs: to protect the contents, and not to add volume that raises the chargeable weight. Secure packing before shipping is part of our service at collection.
- The carton: double-wall and new, because a used carton softens at the first stacking.
- The filling: it fills all the empty space so that nothing moves when shaken.
- The sealing: wide tape in an H pattern on the top and the bottom.
- Permitted liquids: a tight cap, an inner bag and absorbent material.
- Electronics: in their original box where available, inside a second carton.
- The label: the consignee’s name, address and mobile number on two faces of every parcel.
Packing methods with pictures are on the packing guide page.
Collection from Jeddah’s districts and nearby towns
The closeness of the airport to Jeddah’s districts makes collection and hand-over to the cargo terminal on the same day a routine matter. Our representative comes to the home, office, hotel or warehouse, takes a first weight of the shipment and gives you a collection receipt. Nearby towns are served by a collection trip arranged according to the quantity.
| Area | Examples | Collection |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | Obhur, Ash-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, An-Naeem, Al-Basateen, Al-Hamdaniyah | The same day for orders before noon |
| Central Jeddah | Ar-Rawdah, As-Salamah, Al-Hamra, Al-Andalus, Al-Faisaliyah, As-Safa | Usually the same day |
| South and east Jeddah | Al-Balad, Al-Jamiah, As-Sanabel, Al-Khumrah, the Industrial Area | The same day or the next |
| Hotels and pilgrims’ accommodation | Jeddah and Makkah | By appointment before travel |
| Makkah and Taif | Residential and commercial districts | Within one to two days |
| Rabigh, Thuwal, Khulais and Bahrah | Company sites and homes | By prior arrangement |
The complete door-to-door service is explained on the door to door page, and our services from the city in the article on the air freight office in Jeddah.
Steps of air freight from Jeddah to Spain
- Send to 0552803439 what you are shipping, its approximate weight and dimensions, and the Spanish city.
- The itemised price reaches you: freight, clearance, delivery, and what the price does not include.
- We review the contents with you and remove what is prohibited or restricted before packing.
- We collect the shipment from your address in Jeddah, pack it and hand you the collection receipt.
- It is weighed, measured and screened at the cargo terminal at King Abdulaziz Airport, and the waybill is issued.
- It is loaded on the booked flight, and the tracking number reaches you.
- It is cleared at the Spanish airport, and the consignee pays what is due, if anything.
- It is delivered at the address against a signature, and we notify you of delivery.
Tracking, insurance and additional services
The air waybill number is the key to tracking. It shows the stages of the shipment: accepted in Jeddah, departed, arrived, released, out for delivery. We send you these updates on WhatsApp without your asking. The follow-up service is explained on the shipment tracking page.
The air carrier’s liability for damage and loss is limited to an amount per kilogram, an amount that does not cover a laptop, a lens or a valuable sample. Optional insurance closes this gap and is calculated as a percentage of the declared value. Its terms and exclusions are on the cargo insurance page.
- Temporary storage: we keep your shipment for some days until your travel date comes or the consignee’s address is ready.
- Preparing the declaration in advance: the shipment data is sent to the Spanish broker before the aircraft lands so that release begins on arrival.
- Consolidation: we combine your purchases from more than one shop in Jeddah into one shipment.
- Special packing: wooden crates for sensitive pieces, on request.
Air freight from Spain to Jeddah
The reverse direction is requested by shoppers, traders and workshop owners in Jeddah. We collect from the supplier or shop in the Spanish city, consolidate the purchases if they come from several sources, and fly them to King Abdulaziz International Airport. The time is close to that of the outbound journey, and it grows by a day or two when the supplier is in a city far from Madrid and Barcelona.
- What is shipped: fashion, footwear and leather goods, spare parts, restaurant supplies, and samples of ceramics and fabrics.
- Saudi customs: duty according to the item and 15% value added tax.
- Conformity: commercial goods subject to technical regulations are registered before shipping.
- Heavy goods: tiles, marble and furniture come by sea from Valencia or Barcelona.
How do you choose the right service for your shipment and budget?
Before you ask for a price, settle three things: the latest acceptable arrival date, the approximate weight and volume, and the amount you are willing to pay. With these three the choice almost makes itself. Anyone who starts with the price before the date usually buys a service slower than they need or dearer than necessary.
- A document or small parcel with a near deadline: express shipping.
- Luggage of 30 to 300 kilograms: general air cargo to the door.
- Commercial goods with a delivery date: a booking on a specific flight with the declaration prepared in advance.
- Furniture or heavy goods with no tight deadline: sea freight, with an urgent bag by air.
- A limited budget and a flexible date: ask about economy air freight through a transit airport.
How do you choose an air freight company from Jeddah to Spain?
Jeddah has many offices offering air freight to Europe, and some of them are intermediaries selling what others book. The difference does not show in the first price but in the questions the office asks you and in what it puts in writing. An office that asks about the contents and the consignee’s identity knows the route, and an office that gives you a figure over the phone without a question postpones the surprise to the airport.
| What you ask about | A good sign | A worrying sign |
|---|---|---|
| Legal status | Commercial registration and a receipt in the establishment’s name | A transfer to a personal account |
| Weight | Explains volumetric weight and works it out with you | Prices on actual weight, then raises it after collection |
| Contents | Asks about perfumes, batteries and food | “We ship everything” |
| Spanish customs | Asks for the consignee’s ID number and mentions the tax | “You owe nothing there” |
| Price | Written lines: freight, fuel, clearance and delivery | A single figure with no breakdown |
| Tracking | An air waybill number sent to you on the day of departure | “We will call you when it arrives” |

Frequently asked questions about air freight from Jeddah to Spain
How much does air freight from Jeddah to Spain cost?
The charge is per kilogram of chargeable weight. A kilogram starts from SAR 23 and falls as the shipment grows, a document envelope up to one kilogram starts from SAR 83, and a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 110. Spanish duty and tax are paid there if they fall due and are never part of the freight charge.
How long does air freight from Jeddah to Spain take?
An express parcel or envelope reaches Madrid or Barcelona in 2 to 4 working days. An ordinary air shipment is delivered in 3 to 5 days in Madrid and Barcelona, and in 4 to 6 days in Valencia, Malaga and the more distant cities. These are door-to-door times and include the clearance days at both airports.
Which airport will my shipment arrive at in Spain?
That depends on the consignee’s address. Madrid-Barajas for the capital and the centre of the country, Barcelona-El Prat for Catalonia and the north-east, Valencia Airport for the east coast, and Malaga-Costa del Sol for Andalusia. When there is no space to the nearest airport, the shipment lands in Madrid or Barcelona and completes its journey by lorry.
Are there direct flights from Jeddah to Spain?
Direct flights operate between Jeddah and both Madrid and Barcelona, and the Malaga flight is seasonal; all of them follow airline schedules that change from one season to the next. So we book the direct flight whenever space is available, and a flight through a transit airport whenever it is quicker or cheaper, and we tell you the routing before you pay.
How is the weight of an air shipment calculated?
The shipment is weighed and its dimensions are measured at the cargo terminal. Volumetric weight equals length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000, and the charge is based on whichever is greater, that figure or the actual weight. A large, light carton can therefore cost more than a small, heavy one.
Will I pay customs on a personal parcel in Spain?
A gift sent from one private person to another free of charge is exempt as long as its value does not exceed 45 euros under the rules currently applied. Anything above that, and anything that is a purchase, attracts Spanish value added tax, mostly at 21%, and customs duty may be added depending on the item and its value. We review your case before shipping.
What documents are needed for air freight to Spain?
For a personal parcel: a copy of the sender’s ID or residence permit, a statement of the contents and their value, and the consignee’s name, address, mobile number and Spanish ID number or foreigner’s number. For commercial goods: an invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin and the importer’s European customs number. We issue the air waybill ourselves.
Can perfumes and batteries be sent by air?
Perfumes are flammable liquids and aerosol cans are compressed gases; neither is accepted in an ordinary parcel, only as declared dangerous goods with special packaging and labels. Lithium batteries are accepted inside their devices under conditions, whereas loose batteries and power banks are not loaded on passenger aircraft.
Can dates be shipped from Jeddah to Spain?
Yes, and they are among the items most often sent on this route. Under the rules currently applied in the European Union, dates do not need a plant-health certificate, and they travel in their sealed boxes with the weight and value stated on the declaration. Meat, dairy and their products, however, are not allowed in personal parcels.
Do you ship students’ and scholarship holders’ belongings?
Yes. Bags and cartons beyond the ticket allowance go by air per kilogram and arrive before term begins. A student’s used belongings, books and study equipment are relieved of duty in the European Union under conditions, chiefly a letter of admission or enrolment. We prepare the list and the documents with you before collection.
Can the air shipment be tracked?
Yes. Every shipment has an air waybill number that shows its acceptance at the airport, the departure of the flight, arrival in Spain, customs release and dispatch for delivery. We send you the update at each stage on WhatsApp, so you do not need to ask.
Is insurance available for an air shipment?
Yes, and it is an optional item calculated as a percentage of the value you declare. We recommend it for electronics, valuable samples and spare parts, because the air carrier’s liability is capped by the weight of the shipment, not by its value. It is priced on request once we know the item and its value.
When is sea freight to Spain a better choice than air?
Whenever the shipment exceeds a few hundred kilograms and is not urgent. Furniture, household effects and heavy goods travel in a container from Jeddah Islamic Port to Valencia or Barcelona in 20 to 32 days door to door, at a far lower cost per kilogram.
Can a car be flown to Spain?
It is possible for luxury and classic cars and show cars, on a freighter aircraft and at a price set on request. An ordinary car, however, belongs on a ship: RoRo starts from SAR 2,800 from Jeddah Islamic Port. We compare both options for you before you decide.
Do you ship by air from Spain to Jeddah?
Yes. We collect from the supplier or shop in the Spanish city, fly the goods to King Abdulaziz Airport, clear them through Saudi customs and deliver to your address in Jeddah. Imports attract customs duty according to the item and 15% value added tax, and commercial goods have conformity requirements that we review with you before you buy.
