Who ships by air from Jeddah to France?
The aircraft is not the route for every shipment, but it is the only route for anyone with a deadline. A paper that has to be signed in Paris before the week ends, the suitcase of a student whose term in Lyon starts in ten days, a fabric swatch a buyer in Marseille is waiting for before deciding, a spare part that has stopped a machine in a factory. A sea voyage of a month is no use to any of them. These are the groups we serve most on this lane, and what each has on its mind:
| Shipper | What they send by air | What matters most to them |
|---|---|---|
| Students and scholarship holders | Two or three suitcases and a carton of books | Arrival before classes begin, and the student relief |
| A family with a relative in France | Dates, coffee, clothes and Eid gifts | The gift exemption limit, and the consignee paying nothing |
| Companies and law offices | Contracts, original documents and tenders | Hand delivery and a signed receipt |
| Traders and exporters | Samples and small high-value batches | The invoice, the tariff heading and who clears in France |
| Online shops | Customer orders, each in its own parcel | Duties-paid delivery and a tracking number per parcel |
| French Umrah pilgrims and visitors | Purchases and gifts beyond the ticket allowance | Collection from the hotel before departure |
Advantages of air freight from Jeddah to France, and its limits
Air has one advantage from which the rest follow: time. What the sea takes four weeks to do, air does in under a week. With time come practical things the shipper notices, and also limits that should be known before booking, so that nobody pays an aircraft rate for something a carton in a container would have served.
- A date you can count on: flights between Jeddah and Paris run regularly throughout the week, so a day’s delay does not mean waiting for next week’s vessel.
- Less handling: the shipment is lifted only a few times between the scale, the aircraft and the French warehouse, which lowers the chance of breakage for sensitive pieces.
- First limit, cost: a kilogram by air costs several times a kilogram by sea, so household furniture and cheap heavy goods do not go this way.
- Second limit, what flight safety forbids: loose batteries, alcohol-based perfumes and pressurised containers, detailed in the prohibited-items section below.
- Third limit, size: the hold door of a passenger aircraft is smaller than a container door, so a long or tall piece needs a freighter flight booked in advance.
The service and its types are defined on the air freight page.
Air freight route from Jeddah to France and transit time
The flying hours are the shortest part of the journey. What makes up the transit time is what happens before take-off and after landing: collection, preparation and the export declaration in Jeddah, then clearance and distribution in France. That is why we always quote the time door to door, not airport to airport. This is how the days of an ordinary shipment to Paris are spread:
| Stage | What happens | Usual duration |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and preparation | A courier collects from the address, then weighing, measuring, packing and labels | One day |
| Export and hand-over to the airport | Export declaration, security screening and booking space on the flight | One day |
| Flight | A direct flight to Charles de Gaulle, or through a transit airport | Under a day to two days |
| French clearance | Import declaration and payment of tax, or the relief file | One to two days |
| Delivery | From the airport warehouse to the address | One day for Paris, two to three for distant cities |
The time also changes with the type of service you choose, since not every air shipment is handled like an urgent envelope. These are the three services and when each one fits:
| Service | Time to the door | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| Express for documents and small parcels | 2–4 working days | A paper or a light parcel with a deadline |
| Standard air freight to the door | 3–6 days for Paris, 4–8 for the other cities | Suitcases, cartons, goods and samples |
| Airport to airport | One to three days to the French airport warehouse | An importer whose broker collects at the airport |
What lengthens the transit time?
- A vague description: “personal items” or “gifts” is not enough for French customs, which asks for detail and holds the shipment until it arrives.
- A forbidden item inside the parcel: a power bank or a bottle of perfume found at screening, so the parcel comes back to be opened and cleared of what is not accepted.
- Charges the consignee has not paid: the shipment stays in the warehouse until they are settled, and after a set period it is returned at the sender’s expense.
- Different weekends: Friday and Saturday here, Saturday and Sunday there, so what is handed to the airport on Thursday may not be cleared before Monday.
Transit times for other destinations are on the transit times page.
Acceptance, weighing and screening of Jeddah shipments to France at the King Abdulaziz International Airport cargo terminal

King Abdulaziz Airport lies in the north of Jeddah and has a cargo area separate from the passenger terminals, which shipments enter through its own gate. The customer does not need to go there in person: our courier collects from the address and hands over to the terminal. It is still worth knowing what happens there, because every figure on your invoice is taken at this station, and every reason for refusing a shipment shows up in it.
- Acceptance and matching: the pieces are counted and matched against the shipment manifest, and the French address and the consignee’s mobile number are checked.
- Weighing: each piece goes on a certified scale and its actual weight is recorded.
- Measuring: length, width and height from the furthest point of the parcel, from which the volumetric weight is worked out.
- Security screening: the shipment passes through X-ray equipment before loading, and anything that raises doubt is opened and checked by hand.
- Export declaration: lodged with Saudi customs in the sender’s name, together with the invoice or the contents list.
- Air waybill: issued with a number of its own for your shipment, which is also the tracking number all the way to Paris.
- Build-up and loading: the parcels are stacked on an aircraft pallet or in an air container, secured with a net, and then moved to the aircraft.
The weight and measurements taken at acceptance are the ones that count, not what you estimated at home. If the figure differs from what you sent us, we tell you before the flight is booked, not after it has taken off. How we work with the airport is explained in the article air freight office in Jeddah.
Chargeable weight and volumetric weight in air freight
What surprises first-time air shippers most is that a light carton was charged at a heavier weight. The reason is that an aircraft runs out of space before it runs out of payload, so airlines charge on the greater of two figures: the weight on the scale and the volumetric weight. In general air cargo the volumetric weight is the three dimensions in centimetres multiplied together and divided by 6000, while some express courier services divide by 5000, which gives a higher figure. These examples make the idea clear:
| Parcel | Scale weight | Volumetric weight | Chargeable weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carton of clothes, 60 × 50 × 40 cm | 12 kg | 20 kg | 20 kg |
| Carton of books, 40 × 30 × 30 cm | 18 kg | 6 kg | 18 kg |
| Large suitcase, 78 × 50 × 30 cm | 28 kg | 19.5 kg | 28 kg |
| Pallet of goods, 120 × 80 × 100 cm | 140 kg | 160 kg | 160 kg |
The lesson from the table is plain: the small heavy item is charged on its weight, and the large light one on its volume. Anyone shipping clothes, toys or cushions gains by compressing them and choosing a carton that fits. Enter your measurements in the volumetric weight calculator to see your figure before you call.
Air freight prices from Jeddah to France
An air freight price is built on the chargeable kilogram, and the rate per kilogram drops each time the shipment moves up into a heavier weight band. Documents and small parcels have a flat price because they travel on an express service. These are the figures our prices to France start from; the final price is sent once we know the weight, the dimensions, the city and the scope of service:
| Shipment | Unit of charge | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Documents up to one kilogram | The envelope | SAR 83 |
| Parcel up to 5 kg | The parcel | SAR 110 |
| Suitcases, cartons and samples | The chargeable kilogram | SAR 23 per kg |
| A carton charged as 20 kg | 20 × 23 | SAR 460 |
| Shipment of 100 kg or more | The chargeable kilogram | A lower rate per kg, set on request |
| Goods on pallets | The pallet or the kilogram | Set on request |
| A car on a freighter flight | Dimensions and weight | Set on request |
Prices circulating in the market for this lane do not settle on one figure. Those who write about small parcels to French cities mention between SAR 1,100 and SAR 1,250 a parcel, and express courier companies charge a private sender about SAR 120 per kilogram and a business account holder about SAR 40. General air-freight guides show, for international trade lanes, between two dollars and about five and a half dollars per kilogram before adding a fuel surcharge of half a dollar to two dollars and a terminal handling charge. A published figure therefore always needs a follow-up question: is this the bare rate per kilogram, or does it include fuel, handling, clearance and delivery to the door?
| What sets the price | How it acts |
|---|---|
| Weight band | The rate per kg drops at roughly 45, 100 and 300 kilograms |
| Volume | A large light item pays for its volume, not its weight |
| The French city | Paris costs least, and distant cities add the road leg |
| Scope of service | To the airport, to the address with clearance, or duties paid |
| Nature of the goods | Fragile, chilled and declared dangerous goods need special handling |
How do you lower the cost?
- Shrink the carton until it matches its contents, because every five extra centimetres in the dimensions are paid for.
- Gather what you will send over the month into one shipment so that it enters a heavier band at a lower rate per kilogram.
- Separate the urgent from the rest: what can wait goes in the shared container, leaving only a little for the aircraft.
- Write the true value, since an understated value ends in a fine and a delay that cost more than the tax itself.
All the pricing items are explained on the pricing factors page.
Express parcels and documents from Jeddah to France

This is the fastest and simplest service on the lane. Our courier collects the envelope or parcel from your address in Jeddah, whether a home, an office or a hotel, and in France it is delivered by hand to the consignee in person or to someone they authorise, against a signature. Documents enter France free of charges because they have no commercial value, so nothing stands in their way except an incomplete address or a name that does not match the identity card.
- Price: documents up to one kilogram from SAR 83, and a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 110.
- What counts as a document: contracts, certificates, powers of attorney, bank statements, visa files and university papers. A passport, however, has special rules with the carrier, so ask us before sending one.
- The French address: building number, street name, five-digit postcode and city, together with the building’s door code and a French mobile number.
- A small parcel: a gift, a phone, a spare part or a medicine with its prescription, with a statement of contents and value in English or French.
Details of the service are on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping suitcases and students’ belongings instead of excess baggage
Airlines charge a high price for an extra bag and cap the weight of a single piece whatever you pay. Anyone carrying more than the ticket allows finds that shipping the excess separately is calmer and clearer in cost: the suitcases are collected from home a few days before travel, their owner flies light, and they follow to the address. In Jeddah the people who ask for this most are students heading to Paris, Lyon, Toulouse and Montpellier as the academic year begins.
- What goes on the declaration: used personal effects, with a short list of what is in each suitcase.
- Student relief: in current European practice a student’s clothes, study materials and used room furnishings enter free of duty and tax on proof of enrolment, and we confirm what is in force before shipping.
- Timing: hand over the suitcases three to five days before you fly, so that they arrive after you rather than before, and you are there to receive them.
Commercial air cargo and samples on pallets from Jeddah to France

Commercial goods fly when they are worth more than they weigh, or when a delay would cost more than the aircraft rate. They are prepared on pallets, wooden or plastic platforms on which the cartons are stacked, wrapped in film and strapped, so that a forklift lifts them as a single unit from the warehouse in Jeddah to the importer’s warehouse. What leaves Jeddah most often in this form is factory samples, premium dates in season, abayas and textiles, and exhibition displays.
| Item | How it is prepared | What it needs to enter France |
|---|---|---|
| Samples of no commercial value | A carton or a small pallet, marked as a sample | A sample invoice; may be exempt if unfit for sale |
| Exhibition displays that will return | Numbered wooden crates | A temporary admission carnet where available, and a list matching the crates |
| Dates and dry foodstuffs | Cartons on a pallet, kept away from heat | A label in French, with ingredients and an expiry date |
| Textiles and abayas | Compressed cartons | A fibre-composition label and country of manufacture |
| Cosmetics and oud | According to their flight-safety classification | A cosmetic product file and a responsible person inside the Union |
We prepare the shipment’s documents in Jeddah before it moves: the commercial invoice in English or French, the packing list giving the weight and size of each pallet, and the certificate of origin if the importer asks for one. The French importer needs a European customs identification number so that the declaration can be lodged in their name. A wooden pallet must be made of treated and stamped timber, otherwise it is turned back or destroyed at the French airport. The height of a pallet also has a limit set by the hold door, so we ask you for the dimensions before stacking, not after. Details of the service are on the commercial shipping page.
Shipping dates, gifts and food by air to France
A box of dates from Jeddah reaching a home in the Paris suburbs before Ramadan or before Eid: this is one of the shipments we send most, and one that stumbles most when it is prepared without knowing the rules. The European Union is lenient with dry plant-based foods and very strict with anything of animal origin, and French customs applies that to a personal parcel just as it does to a container.
- What is accepted: packed dates, Saudi coffee, cardamom, saffron and spices, maamoul and dry sweets free of animal-based fillings, in personal quantities.
- Dates and the plant-health certificate: in current practice dates are among the few fruits for which no plant-health certificate is required on entry to the Union, and we confirm what is in force before shipping.
- What is confiscated: ghee, cheeses, dried yoghurt, cured meat and honey in quantity, and any tinned food containing meat or milk.
- Zamzam water: it is not shipped as cargo or as a parcel, and the traveller’s dedicated pack accompanies them on their own flight only.
Air carriers and service options from Jeddah to France
The customer does not contract with the airline directly. They contract with a freight company that books the space for them and chooses the carrier and the flight on the basis of what they have in hand: weight, size, urgency and city. We are not tied to one carrier, so for each shipment we compare what is available that week. There are four options on this lane:
| Option | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Direct passenger flight to Paris | The shipment rides in the aircraft hold with passengers’ bags, without a stop | Parcels, suitcases and low pallets |
| Flight through a transit airport | It stops at a Gulf or European airport and is moved to a second aircraft | Those who put price ahead of a day or two, and cities in the south |
| Freighter aircraft | An aircraft without passengers, with a wide door and a floor for heavy loads | Large pieces, declared goods and cars |
| Door-to-door express service | An express courier network handles collection, clearance and delivery | Documents and parcels up to roughly 30 kilograms |
The regular direct flights from Jeddah land at Charles de Gaulle. Direct flights to Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse do open in some seasons, but they are low-cost flights that cannot be relied on for cargo, so your shipment’s way to those cities runs through Paris and then a truck, or through a transit airport.
Documents required for air freight from Jeddah to France
The aircraft is fast, and paperwork is what slows it down. French customs receives the shipment’s data electronically before it arrives, so whatever was missing in Jeddah shows up as missing before landing. That is why we ask for all the papers with the booking and review them before the courier sets out to you:
| Type of shipment | Documents | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | Sender’s ID, and the consignee’s address and mobile | No invoice, as they have no commercial value |
| Personal parcel or gift | Sender’s ID, and a statement of the items with the value of each | Described item by item, not with one general word |
| Student’s suitcases | Passport and visa, enrolment certificate and contents list | Residence address with the room number |
| Effects of someone moving residence | Passport, the signed inventory covering all their shipments, and proof of previous residence and of the new home | Air and sea in a single inventory |
| Commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the importer’s customs identification number | The tariff heading written on the invoice |
Each paper and who issues it are explained on the shipping documents page.
What cannot be shipped by air to France: prohibited and dangerous goods
The prohibited list for air is longer than the one for sea, because it has two layers. The first is what flight safety forbids because it ignites, explodes or leaks in a pressurised hold. The second is what France and the European Union forbid whichever way it enters. Most parcels turned back from screening at Jeddah airport fail because of ordinary things their owner never thought of as dangerous:
| Item | Status in air freight | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Power banks and loose batteries | Not loaded as cargo on passenger flights | Buy them in France |
| A device with its battery inside | Accepted switched off and protected, in a limited number per parcel | — |
| Alcohol-based perfumes | A flammable liquid, accepted when declared, in set packagings and quantities | Commercial quantities by sea |
| Sprays and pressurised containers | Deodorant, hairspray and gas canisters are not accepted in an ordinary parcel | Leave them out |
| Lighters and quick-light charcoal | Forbidden | Leave them out |
| Products of animal origin | Barred by the European Union in personal shipments | No alternative |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated in France, and the consignee is fined | Do not ship them |
| Cash, gold and jewellery | We do not accept them in ordinary freight | Specialist valuables carriers |
If you are unsure about an item, send us a photo of it and its label before packing, because a careful check at home is cheaper than a parcel coming back from the airport. The general list is on the prohibited items page.
French customs on air shipments
France is a member of the European Union and applies its common customs tariff, adding VAT at a standard rate of 20%, calculated on the value of the goods together with their freight and insurance. An air shipment is cleared in the cargo zone of the arrival airport before it goes out on the road. The rules differ according to what is in the parcel and who sent it, and these are the main cases as currently applied; we confirm what is in force before each shipment, because the limits are revised:
| Case | Treatment currently applied |
|---|---|
| Documents | No duty and no tax |
| A gift from one private person to another, free of charge | Exempt if worth no more than 45 euros |
| A parcel of purchases worth up to 150 euros | VAT, and a small flat customs duty per item in place of the former exemption |
| A shipment worth more than 150 euros | Duty according to the tariff heading, then VAT on the total |
| Effects of an enrolled student | Exempt on proof of enrolment |
| Belongings of someone moving their main residence | Exempt for anyone who lived 12 months outside the Union and used the goods for 6 months, with a signed inventory |
| Samples unfit for sale | May be exempt if of negligible value and marked as samples |
One mistake that keeps recurring is for the sender to assume that the word “gift” exempts any parcel. The exemption has a value ceiling, and it requires both parties to be private individuals with no sale involved. The release steps and the broker’s role are on the customs clearance page.
Who pays the charges in France: the sender or the consignee?
This question is settled on the day of booking, not on the day of delivery. The French delivery company does not hand over a parcel with tax due until it is paid, and it adds a service fee to the tax for lodging the declaration. If the consignee was not told, they refuse to pay or delay, and the parcel stays in the warehouse and then returns to Jeddah at its sender’s expense. There are two ways out of that:
| Comparison | Charges on the consignee | Duties-paid delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays the tax and duty | The consignee, before receiving | We do on their behalf, and it is added to your invoice |
| Freight charge | Lower | Higher by the charges and the service of paying them |
| Chance of a hold-up | Real if the consignee is not informed | Slight |
| Suits | Companies and those who have agreed it with their consignee | Gifts, shop orders and shipments to family |
Delivering air freight from Jeddah in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse

After release at Charles de Gaulle Airport the shipment goes out into the road distribution network. Paris and its suburbs are mostly delivered the next day, while the other large cities are reached by truck overnight and delivered a day or two later. Delivery is to the address: the flat door, the reception desk or the warehouse dock, against the consignee’s signature. These are the cities most Jeddah shipments go to, with their approximate road distances from Paris:
| City | Its airport | Approximate distance from Paris | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paris and its suburbs | Charles de Gaulle | Within the region | The building door code is essential, and parking is hard in the centre |
| Lyon | Lyon-Saint Exupéry | About 465 km | A university and industrial city; Grenoble is served with it |
| Marseille | Marseille Provence | About 775 km | Old sloping districts that need a small vehicle |
| Toulouse | Toulouse-Blagnac | About 680 km | The capital of the aircraft industry, with many shipments of parts and equipment |
| Nice and the Riviera | Nice Côte d’Azur | About 930 km | A parking permit in the summer season |
| Bordeaux | Bordeaux-Mérignac | About 585 km | One to two days after release |
Villages and small towns are served too, mostly with one extra day. What shortens the whole road is an address written the way the French write it and a mobile number the consignee answers, because the driver calls before arriving. Destination information is on the shipping to France page.
Air freight or sea freight to France?
The rule we work by is simple: what is measured in kilograms and has a deadline goes by air, and what is measured in cubic metres and is in no hurry goes by sea from Jeddah Islamic Port to Marseille Fos or Le Havre. Between them lies a middle zone, roughly between 150 and 300 kilograms, where we cost both routes and show you the two figures. There is no land route we rely on to France.
| Comparison | Air | Sea |
|---|---|---|
| Time from Jeddah to the door | 3–6 days | 22–35 days |
| Unit of charge | The chargeable kilogram | The cubic metre or the container |
| Price starts from | SAR 23 per kilogram | SAR 5,500 for a shared container, and SAR 11,000 for a full one |
| Best suited to | Documents, parcels, suitcases and samples | Furniture, cars and heavy goods |
| Departure point | King Abdulaziz Airport | Jeddah Islamic Port |
Sea freight, containers and furniture are detailed in the article shipping company from Jeddah to France, the overall picture for every city in the Kingdom is in the article shipping from Saudi Arabia to France, and the extended comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page.
Car shipping by air from Jeddah to France
A car is shipped by air in a few cases: a luxury or classic car with a date at an auction or a show, a race car catching up with a circuit, and the car of an owner who does not want it at sea for a month. It is secured by its wheels on an aircraft pallet and loaded into a freighter through its wide door, with the tank nearly empty and the battery disconnected as the carrier instructs. Its price is set on request because it follows the car’s dimensions, its weight and the flight available.
Most people who ask us about their car are advised to use the sea, where a saloon starts from SAR 2,800 from Jeddah port. The cost of entering and registering it in France is detailed in the article car shipping company from Saudi Arabia to France.
Packing air shipments and keeping goods safe
An air shipment goes through things it would not meet in a container: other parcels are stacked on top of it, it is pulled along belts and rollers, and pressure and temperature change around it between the hot apron in Jeddah and a cold hold at high altitude. Good packing here protects against breakage and also against an extra charge, because every centimetre of the carton has a price. What is needed is strong packing, not bulging packing.
- The carton: double-walled and new, because a used carton softens in Jeddah’s humidity and collapses under stacking.
- Fragile items: each piece wrapped on its own, five centimetres of padding on every side, and a shake before sealing: if you hear movement, the padding is short.
- Permitted liquids: a tight cap with tape round it, a sealed bag, then absorbent material, because the change in pressure pushes liquid out at the weakest point.
- Heavy and sensitive items: a wooden crate of treated and stamped timber, with a base a forklift can enter.
Packing methods for each type of item are in the packing guide.
Collection from Jeddah districts and nearby towns
Jeddah is a long city on the coast, and the airport is at its northern end. A shipment from Obhur reaches the cargo terminal in minutes, while one from the south of the city crosses all of it. We send the courier to every district and plan the run so that the day’s shipments enter the airport before acceptance closes for the evening flight. We also collect from neighbouring towns and add their shipments to the Jeddah flights:
| Place | Approximate distance | How we collect |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah: Obhur, Ash-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, An-Naeem and Al-Basateen | Closest to the airport | Mostly same-day collection |
| Central Jeddah: Ar-Rawdah, Az-Zahra, As-Salamah, Al-Hamra and Al-Andalus | Within the city | From the home or office by appointment |
| East and south Jeddah: As-Safa, Al-Marwah, As-Samer, Al-Balad and Al-Kandarah | Within the city | A small vehicle for the narrow streets of the old districts |
| Makkah | About 80 km | Umrah pilgrims’ luggage from hotels, within the permitted entry hours |
| Thuwal and Rabigh | 80–150 km to the north | By prior appointment, with a permit for university housing |
| Taif | About 170 km | Added to a consolidated run |
The other cities are on the service cities page, and our other services in the city are in the article international shipping companies in Jeddah.
Steps of air freight from Jeddah to France
- The request: you send a description of what you are shipping, its approximate weight and dimensions, your district in Jeddah, and the French city with its postcode.
- Contents review: we ask about batteries, liquids and food before anything else, and tell you what has to come out of the shipment.
- Price and scope of service: you receive the price with a statement of what it covers, and you choose who pays the French charges.
- Papers: a copy of your ID, the statement of items and values, and whatever your case requires, such as an enrolment certificate or a commercial invoice.
- Collection and packing: the courier comes at the agreed time, anything that needs it is repacked, and you receive a receipt showing the number of pieces.
- Weighing, measuring and screening: at the airport cargo terminal, and we tell you the final chargeable weight before booking the flight.
- Export and take-off: the export declaration is lodged, and you receive the air waybill number and the flight time.
- Clearance and delivery: the shipment is released in France, then delivered by hand to the consignee, who signs, and we send you the proof of delivery.
Tracking and insurance for air shipments
The air waybill number is your thread to the shipment from the moment it enters the airport. Its stations appear one after another: accepted, loaded, departed, landed, in customs, out for delivery, delivered. The sender should read these stations closely, because “awaiting action from the consignee” mostly means an unpaid tax or a missing paper, and every day that passes on it brings the shipment closer to storage charges.
- What we send you: a message on collection, on take-off, on release, and on delivery with the name of the person who signed.
- Insurance: optional, at a percentage of the declared value, and in our view necessary for devices, costly samples and originals that cannot be replaced. The terms are on the cargo insurance page.
- On delivery: if the carton is crushed or open, the consignee should write that on the driver’s note before signing, and photograph it.
- Follow-up: from the track your shipment page.
Air freight from France to Jeddah
The aircraft that carries your shipment to Paris flies back to Jeddah, and the service works in both directions. What comes from France most is purchases from its shops and websites, perfumes, cosmetics and kitchenware, spare parts for French cars, and the belongings of a student who has finished their studies. Our agent there collects from the address or receives your parcels from several shops and combines them into one shipment so that its weight enters a cheaper band.
- Arrival: King Abdulaziz Airport, then clearance and delivery in your district in Jeddah.
- Saudi customs: new goods are charged the duty for the item and VAT at 15%, while a returnee’s used belongings are cleared against a contents list.
For anyone shipping by air to other destinations: air freight from Jeddah to Spain, and air freight company from Jeddah to Turkey.
The ideal choice: how do you choose an air freight company from Jeddah to France?
Offers in Jeddah are many, and most open with a rate per kilogram. The rate alone says nothing until you know which weight it is multiplied by, where the service ends, and who bears what happens in France. These few questions show the difference between a complete offer and one you will complete from your own pocket later:
| Ask about | A reassuring answer | An answer that calls for caution |
|---|---|---|
| Legal status | A commercial registration and a receipt showing the number of pieces | Collection with no paper and a transfer to a personal account |
| The weight charged | Explains volumetric weight and asks for the dimensions | Prices on the scale weight and adjusts after shipping |
| The contents | Asks about batteries, liquids and food | “We ship everything” |
| Where the service ends | States it: to the airport or to the door, and who pays the charges | “It reaches the front door” with no mention of customs |
Common mistakes in air freight from Jeddah to France
- Leaving a power bank or a bottle of perfume in the shipped suitcase, so it is turned back at screening and a day is lost.
- Estimating the price on the scale weight and forgetting that a carton of cushions is charged on its volume.
- Writing “gift” on a parcel worth more than the exemption limit, then surprising the consignee with the tax.
- Putting a tin of ghee or cheese among the dates, so the whole parcel is confiscated, or opened and delayed.
- An address with no postcode or no French mobile number, so the parcel goes round between the warehouse and the driver.
- Sending a student’s suitcases two weeks before they travel, so they arrive with nobody to receive them.
- Shipping hundreds of kilograms by air without ever asking what a shared container would cost.

Frequently asked questions about air freight from Jeddah to France
How much does air freight from Jeddah to France cost?
With us an air-freight kilogram to France starts from SAR 23 on the chargeable weight, a document envelope of up to one kilogram from SAR 83, and a parcel of no more than 5 kg from SAR 110. The heavier the shipment, the lower the rate per kilogram. Send the weight, the three dimensions and the name of the French city to 0552803439 and you receive the figure for your shipment.
How many days does an air shipment take from Jeddah to Paris?
The aircraft itself covers the distance in under seven hours, but the time that matters to you runs from the door in Jeddah to the consignee’s door: 3 to 6 days for Paris and its suburbs, with a day or two more for Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse. Express documents are quicker and are mostly delivered within two to four working days.
What is chargeable weight and how do I work it out before I call?
It is the weight the charge is based on, and it is the greater of two figures: the weight on the scale, and the volumetric weight obtained by multiplying length by width by height in centimetres and dividing by 6000. So a 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton weighing 12 kg is charged as 20. Some express courier services divide by 5000.
Are there direct flights from Jeddah to France?
Yes. Regular direct passenger flights link King Abdulaziz Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle, and they carry cargo in their holds. Direct flights to Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse are seasonal and limited, so we do not build your delivery date on them: the shipment enters through Paris and continues by truck, or arrives on a flight through a transit airport.
Can I send perfume and incense by air to France?
Perfume containing alcohol is a flammable liquid and only boards an aircraft as declared dangerous goods, in set packagings and quantities, so a commercial quantity belongs on a ship. Alcohol-free oud oil, incense and maamoul are accepted in sealed packing once the product details have been reviewed. Quick-light charcoal is not carried by air.
Are a phone, a laptop and a power bank accepted?
A phone and a laptop are accepted with their batteries inside them, switched off and protected against accidental activation, in a limited number per parcel. A power bank and a loose battery, however, are lithium batteries not fitted in a device, and they are not loaded as cargo on passenger flights, so take them out of the parcel before handing it over.
Does the consignee in France pay tax on the parcel?
That depends on the contents and the value. In current practice a gift sent free of charge by one private person to another is exempt if it is worth no more than 45 euros. Anything else is charged French VAT at 20% on the value plus the freight, and customs duty according to the item and the value. We confirm the limits in force before sending.
Who pays the French charges: me or the consignee?
You choose when booking. With standard delivery the consignee pays the tax and duty to the delivery company before receiving the parcel. With duties-paid delivery we pay them on the consignee’s behalf and they go on your invoice, which suits gifts and online-shop orders best, so that nobody is surprised by an amount at the door.
Do you ship students’ suitcases by air to France?
Yes, and they are among the most common shipments leaving Jeddah in August and September. The suitcase or carton is collected from home and reaches the student residence a few days after its owner. In current practice a student’s study materials, clothes and books enter free of charges on proof of university enrolment, so we attach a copy of the admission letter and visa to the file.
Can I send dates by air to my family in France?
Yes. Dates packed in sealed boxes, coffee, cardamom and spices are accepted in personal quantities, and in current practice dates do not need a plant-health certificate to enter the European Union. Do not put ghee, cheese or dried meat with them, because products of animal origin are confiscated at the French airport.
What is the smallest and the largest weight you accept?
There is no minimum: we accept a single envelope. There is no maximum on our side either, but the arithmetic changes: below roughly 300 kg air remains reasonable, and above that we compare the air charge for you with a shared sea container, which starts from SAR 5,500, and you choose according to how urgent it is.
Do you ship samples to an exhibition in Paris and bring them back?
Yes. Samples and exhibits travel on pallets or in wooden crates, with an invoice showing that they are for display and not for sale. Whatever will return to Jeddah after the show enters France under temporary admission with its own carnet where available, so no tax is paid on it. We time the arrival a few days before the opening, enough for clearance.
Is insurance included in the rate per kilogram?
No. The air carrier’s liability is limited to an amount per kilogram, which does not cover the value of a device or a costly sample. Insurance is therefore a separate item you choose, calculated as a percentage of the declared value, and it covers the shipment from your address in Jeddah to the consignee’s address in France.
Do you ship a car by air from Jeddah to France?
It is possible for luxury and classic cars, race cars and exhibition cars that cannot wait for a ship, on an aircraft pallet aboard a freighter flight, and the price is set on request according to dimensions and weight. Most cars go by sea from Jeddah port, where a saloon starts from SAR 2,800.
Do you ship by air from France to Jeddah?
Yes. Our agent collects from the French address or from the shop, and the shipment comes to King Abdulaziz Airport, where it is cleared and delivered in your district. New purchases are charged Saudi VAT at 15% and the duty for the item, while a returnee’s used belongings are cleared as personal effects against a contents list.
