Who moves furniture from Riyadh to Madinah?
Three kinds of caller make up most of this line: an employee whose job has been transferred to Madinah, a family that has decided to live near the Prophet’s Mosque after retirement, and a student accepted at one of the city’s universities. Each has a load that differs in size and in urgency, which is why we do not give everyone one price.
Alongside them come shop and office owners opening a branch in Madinah, and people fitting out a furnished flat for visitors with furniture bought in Riyadh showrooms. The table shows what suits each case.
| Owner of the load | What they usually move | Best suited to them |
|---|---|---|
| Transferred employee | A whole flat’s furniture and appliances | Dedicated truck with a fixed arrival date |
| Retired family | Villa furniture, a majlis, outdoor seating, a library | Large dedicated truck and two working days |
| Student or single employee | Bed, desk, cartons and a small fridge | Shared load |
| Owner of furnished flats | New bedroom sets in their cartons, air conditioners | Shared or dedicated load, by quantity |
| Shop or office | Shelving, desks, equipment and files | Dedicated truck, loaded outside working hours |
What does the door-to-door moving service include?
The service starts inside your room in Riyadh and ends when every piece stands in its place in Madinah. You do not need to hire labourers in one city and a vehicle in another, nor to travel with the truck. One crew collects the furniture and delivers it, and you follow from your phone.
- A survey by photos or by visit, and an itemised price before any commitment.
- Dismantling of bedrooms, wardrobes, majlis sets, outdoor seating and curtains.
- Each piece wrapped on its own, and small items boxed in cartons numbered by room.
- Loading into a closed, padded truck, secured with straps from the inside.
- Unloading in your home in Madinah, reassembly, and arranging the pieces where you want them.
- Removal of packing waste before the crew leaves.
What the service does not include we state plainly: plumbing and electrical work in the new home, washing of carpets and rugs, and carrying money, gold or official papers. Those last stay with you in your own car.
Good planning: the survey before choosing the crew and the truck
A move that ends without trouble begins with knowing what is to be moved. So we ask for photos of every room, or arrange a visit for large homes, and write a list of the big pieces, the appliances and the expected number of cartons. From that list we know the size of truck, the number of workers and the hours of loading.
The survey does not stop at the furniture. We ask about the floor in both homes, the width of the stairs and the lift, and the distance between the building door and the nearest place a truck can stand. A wardrobe that will not pass the stairs needs full dismantling, and a narrow street in Madinah needs a small vehicle to shuttle from the truck to the door. Knowing that before loading day prevents surprises after 850 km.
The crew size follows the size of the home: three are enough for a small flat, and a two-storey villa needs five or six, including a carpenter and an air-conditioning technician. We state the number in the price sent to you so you know what you are paying for.
The equipment and packing materials the crew brings
The crew arrives with everything required, so you buy nothing yourself unless you want to fill your own cartons. Materials are chosen by the piece: what suits a sofa does not suit glass, and what protects a screen is not enough for a fridge.
| Tool or material | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Dismantling and assembly kit and power drivers | Bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchens and swings |
| Double-wall cartons in two sizes | The large for light things such as bedding, the small for heavy things such as books and cookware |
| Packing paper, foam and card dividers | Glasses, plates and ornaments, each piece wrapped alone |
| Bubble wrap and rigid card corners | Mirrors, glass panels, screens and table edges |
| Moving blankets and stretch film | Painted wood, sofas and appliances |
| Fabric bags and sealed sacks | Blankets, clothes, soft furnishings and curtains |
| Wide tape, ropes and ratchet straps | Closing cartons and fixing the load to the truck walls |
| Hand trolleys and sliders under the legs | Shifting the fridge and the heavy wardrobe without scratching the tiles |
For more detail on materials and how each piece is wrapped, the guide to packing furniture for a move goes item by item, and the packing guide page covers long-distance shipping.
Dismantling and packing furniture in Riyadh homes
Riyadh homes are mostly spacious: villas and duplexes with a men’s majlis and a women’s one, and a courtyard holding outdoor seating, a swing and a car canopy. That is why dismantling in Riyadh takes longer than customers expect, and we allow at least half a day for it in a villa.

We work from the outside in. A steel swing is taken down into legs, seat and fabric roof, and an outdoor seating set has its cushions separated from the frame. The cushions are pressed into sealed sacks so they do not pick up road dust, and the metal or rattan frame is rolled in blankets at its joints. The bolts of each piece go into a small bag taped to that same piece, so the swing’s bolts never mix with the bed’s.
Then we go through the rooms one after another. Every piece is wrapped on its own and no two are bundled together, and each carton carries the room name, a serial number and its contents in two words. Before dismantling a wardrobe or a bed we photograph it from two sides, because the photo is the assembly map in Madinah.
| Part of the home | What is dismantled | How it is packed and numbered |
|---|---|---|
| Courtyard and roof | Swing, outdoor seating, movable canopy, barbecue | Blankets for frames and sacks for cushions, coded “OUT” for outdoor |
| Majlis | Corner sofas into their sections, tables, curtains | Stretch film over cotton cloth for sofas, corners for tables |
| Bedrooms | Bed, wardrobe, dressing table and its mirror | Panels numbered in assembly order, the mirror in bubble wrap and card |
| Kitchen | Wall and base units if they are being moved, cookware | Small cartons for cookware, every plate wrapped in its paper |
| Living room and study | Screen off its bracket, bookcase, desk | The screen in its box or between two foam boards, books in small cartons |
Numbering cartons by room is no luxury. At unloading in Madinah each carton goes straight to its room, so cartons do not pile up in the living room and you do not spend a week hunting for the cutlery box.
Collection from Riyadh districts
We collect from any district of the capital and from the governorates close to it. The difference between one district and another lies not so much in price as in the type of building and how easily a truck can stand, and that is what sets the loading hours.
Riyadh traffic regulates the hours when large trucks may move inside the city, barring them at peak times. So we set the truck’s arrival at your home to match the hours in force on loading day, and we may start packing in the morning and load in the afternoon or at night.
| Side of the city | Some of its districts | What marks loading there |
|---|---|---|
| North Riyadh | Al-Malqa, Al-Yasmin, An-Narjis, As-Sahafa, Al-Arid | Modern villas and duplexes on wide streets, with much outdoor furniture |
| East Riyadh | Ar-Rawdah, An-Naseem, Ar-Rawabi, Al-Yarmuk, Qurtubah | Apartment blocks and upper floors, where the lift or stairs must be arranged |
| Central Riyadh | Al-Malaz, Al-Olaya, As-Sulaimaniyah, Al-Murabba | Busy streets and few parking spaces, so loading is done in the quiet hours |
| West Riyadh | Dhahrat Laban, Irqah, Tuwaiq, As-Suwaidi | Sloping ground on some streets, so a level standing point is chosen |
| South Riyadh | Ash-Shifa, Al-Aziziyah, Ad-Dar Al-Baida, Badr | Traditional houses and upper floors, with heavy furniture needing more hands |
| Outside the city | Diriyah, Al-Kharj, Al-Muzahimiyah, Ad-Dilam | By advance booking, with the approach distance added to the account |
For anyone moving within the capital rather than out of it, the article on moving furniture in Riyadh details moves between its districts and their prices.
A dedicated truck or a shared load?
The question that settles both price and time is this: do you want the truck to yourself? A dedicated truck carries your furniture only, leaves Riyadh the moment its door is shut, and reaches your home in Madinah without stopping at another address. A shared load combines your furniture with the consignments of other customers heading for Madinah, so you pay for the space you occupy.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared load |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | A whole home, valuable furniture, or a date that cannot slip | A room, a few pieces, or cartons |
| Departure | The same day as loading | When the truck’s load is complete |
| Door-to-door time | 1–2 days | 2–4 days |
| Times loaded and unloaded | Once in each city | The load may be sorted one extra time |
| Price | Higher, for the whole truck | Lower, for the space used |
In both cases the truck has a closed box and padded walls. An open truck covered with a tarpaulin is not fit for this road: Najd dust gets in under the tarpaulin, and crosswinds on the open plains pull at it.
The Riyadh–Madinah road across the lava fields
The road has two legs. The first runs north-west on the Riyadh–Qassim expressway, over the flat land of Najd. The second follows the Qassim–Madinah expressway, part of Highway 60 that links Yanbu in the west with Jubail in the east, and its length between Qassim and Madinah is about 448 km. The whole distance door to door is about 850 km.

After Qassim the truck passes Uqlat as-Suqur, then enters Madinah Region at Al-Hanakiyah Governorate, about 108 km north-east of the city. From there the scenery changes: the harrat appear, fields of black basalt rock left by ancient volcanoes. Madinah itself lies between two famous ones, Harrat Waqim to the east and Harrat al-Wabra to the west.
The road is a paved dual expressway throughout, so the truck drives beside the lava rock, not over it. It is the length that dictates how we load. Ten hours of light, continuous vibration loosen whatever was not pulled tight, which is why pieces are strapped to the rings in the truck walls from the inside, and gaps are filled with blankets so that no piece moves against another.
| Leg | Approximate distance | What matters for the load |
|---|---|---|
| From your district to Riyadh’s north-western exit | 20–50 km | Keeping to the hours trucks may move inside the city |
| Riyadh–Qassim expressway | About 350 km | Open plains, crosswinds and dust in summer |
| Qassim–Madinah road as far as Uqlat as-Suqur | About 200 km | Few, widely spaced stations, where the driver rests |
| From Uqlat as-Suqur to Al-Hanakiyah | About 140 km | The start of lava-field country, on a dual road |
| From Al-Hanakiyah to Madinah | About 108 km | Entry from the ring road to the district |
The figures in the table are approximate and change with the position of the two homes. The driver does not cover the whole distance in one stretch either; he stops for rest, prayer and fuel, and that is counted in the time we give you.
How furniture is arranged inside the truck
Arranging a load is a small science with its own rules, and it is the difference between furniture that arrives as it left and furniture that arrives scratched. The first rule is heavy below and light above; the second is that what comes off first goes on last.
- Heavy appliances such as the fridge, washing machine and oven stand at the front of the box behind the cab, where vibration is least.
- Wardrobe and bed panels are lined up on edge along the wall, with a blanket between every two panels.
- Mattresses stand on their side and act as a soft barrier between wood and glass.
- Mirrors, glass panels and screens travel upright, never flat, and nothing is placed on them.
- Heavy cartons go in the bottom row, with cartons of bedding and clothes above them.
- Sofas are loaded last, near the door, since they are the first thing into the new home and the first to be sat on.
After each row a cross strap is tightened into the truck walls. So when the door opens in Madinah, the load is as it was when it closed in Riyadh.
How long does the move from Riyadh to Madinah take?
The drive itself is 8 to 10 hours. But the time that matters to you runs from the first carton sealed in Riyadh to the last piece assembled in Madinah, and that follows the size of the home and the type of truck.
| Load | Dismantling and loading in Riyadh | Total door-to-door time |
|---|---|---|
| A room or a few pieces, shared load | One to two hours | 2–4 days |
| Two-room flat, dedicated truck | 3–4 hours | One to two days |
| Three-room flat, dedicated truck | 4–5 hours | One to two days |
| Large flat or a whole floor | 5–7 hours | Two days |
| Two-storey villa with outdoor furniture | A full day | 2–3 days |
| Urgent cartons by air | Collected from the door | 1–2 days |
What lengthens the time?
- Waiting for a shared load to fill when traffic on the line is thin.
- The hours when trucks are barred inside Riyadh, or regulated entry to central Madinah.
- The Ramadan and Hajj seasons, when the road and the city entrances are crowded.
- A new home whose key has not been handed over, or a building whose lift was not reserved.
- Winter rain or a dust wave that makes the driver slow down.
Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah
The price follows the volume of furniture before anything else, then whether the truck is dedicated or shared, then the dismantling and packing you ask for. The figures in the table are starting points, and the final price is sent to you itemised after we have seen the photos.
| What you move | Price starts from | Note |
|---|---|---|
| One room or a few pieces | SAR 550 | In a shared load |
| Small dedicated moving van | SAR 640 | For a small urgent load |
| Small two-room flat | SAR 735 | Furniture of the two rooms and the living room |
| Three-room flat | SAR 1,100 | By the number of pieces and appliances |
| Large flat or a whole floor | SAR 2,020 | Dedicated truck |
| Complete villa | SAR 3,220 | A large truck, or two |
| Dismantling and reassembling furniture | SAR 460 | Bedrooms, wardrobes and majlis sets |
| Extra packing for delicate pieces | SAR 275 | Glass, ornaments and screens |
| Carton up to 20 kg by road | SAR 87 | Door to door |
| Parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 32 | Door to door |
| Car on a carrier | Set on request | By type of car and carrier |
| Temporary storage | Set on request | By volume and number of days |
Prices quoted in the market: what companies publish for this line varies. Moving a single room is offered from SAR 600, a small flat between SAR 800 and 1,200, a three-room flat between SAR 1,200 and 2,200, a large flat between SAR 2,200 and 3,000, and a villa between SAR 3,500 and 5,000. Some add SAR 500 to 800 for dismantling and assembly, SAR 300 to 700 for packing, and a surcharge of 15% to 25% for an urgent move. So always ask what a figure includes before you compare.
What changes the price?
| Factor | Its effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Volume of furniture | It sets the truck size, the largest line in the account |
| Dedicated or shared | A dedicated truck is paid in full even when not full |
| Floor and lift | A high floor without a lift adds workers and time in both cities |
| Dismantling and assembly | Large wardrobes, kitchens and air conditioners need technicians |
| Special pieces | A piano, a safe or a marble table needs a wooden crate |
| Season and day | Ramadan, Hajj, month-end and the end of the school year are busier |
| Distance from where the truck can stand | A small shuttle vehicle in narrow streets |
How do you cut the cost?
- Get rid of what you do not need before the survey; every piece left in Riyadh reduces the volume.
- Pack clothes, books and bedding yourself, and leave the glass and large pieces to the crew.
- Choose a shared load if your date can flex by two or three days.
- Book a week ahead, and steer clear of month-end and the visiting seasons if you can.
- Reserve the lift in both buildings and a place for the truck to stand, because an hour of waiting is charged.
What is particular about delivery in Madinah?
Madinah is not like any other city a furniture truck arrives in. Its centre around the Prophet’s Mosque is crowded with visitors and hotels all year, and truck entry there is regulated by the traffic department within set hours that tighten in Ramadan and the Hajj season. We give no specific hours here because they change; we confirm the hours in force before loading day and build the arrival time on them.
A ring road of about 67 km eases the congestion by diverting through traffic away from the inner streets, so our truck uses it to reach the exit nearest your district. In the old districts and narrow streets near the central area the large truck stops at the nearest permitted point, and a small vehicle completes the move to the building’s door.
The seasons affect booking as well. In the last ten days of Ramadan and just before and after the Hajj, pressure on roads and labour rises, so it is best to book two weeks ahead, or to pick days outside the peak if your date is flexible.
Unloading and assembling furniture in Madinah districts
Unloading is half the job, not the end of it. The crew enters the home first and covers the floors and door corners, then the large pieces go in before the cartons. Each carton goes to the room written on it, and each wardrobe is rebuilt from the photo taken in Riyadh.

Where space is tight we assemble the small pieces in each room before the large ones, so the carpenter keeps room to work. Then the pieces are arranged where you want them, not where it is easiest for us, and we move the sofa twice if need be. Before leaving, you go through the list with the supervisor number by number and sign for receipt.
| District or area | Type of building | What we arrange for unloading |
|---|---|---|
| Quba | Old and new residential districts south of the city | A small vehicle for narrow streets where needed |
| Aziziyah | Modern villas and blocks on wide streets | The truck standing directly at the door |
| Awali | Houses, villas and palm farms on its edges | A suitable entrance between the walls |
| Shuran | New subdivisions, villas and duplexes | Direct unloading and assembly the same day |
| Difa, King Fahd and Khalidiyah | Multi-storey apartment blocks | Reserving the lift or arranging the climb by stairs |
| Salam, Aqool and Bani Haritha | Residential districts on the city’s edges | Entry from the ring road |
| The central area and around it | Hotels, furnished flats and crowded streets | A time that fits the truck entry hours in force |
We also reach the region’s governorates by advance booking, such as Yanbu, Badr, Khaybar, Al-Ula, Al-Hanakiyah and Al-Mahd. Anyone moving within the city itself from one district to another will find the details in the article on the furniture moving company in Madinah.
Electrical appliances: fridge, washing machine, air conditioners and screens
Appliances suffer most from a long move if their preparation is neglected, and preparation begins a day before the crew arrives. Each appliance has its own method, and the table sums up what we do and what we ask of you.
| Appliance | Preparation before loading | On arrival |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge and freezer | Unplugged at least three to five hours before loading, drained, dried and its shelves secured | Stands a few hours before being switched on |
| Washing machine | Hose water drained and the drum locked with the transit bolts | Bolts removed before the first cycle |
| Split air conditioner | The technician pumps the gas down into the outdoor unit, then removes both units | Fitted with new piping where needed |
| Oven and gas cooker | Gas disconnected, grease cleaned off and the burners wrapped separately | Connected by a gas fitter, not a labourer |
| Screen | Taken off its bracket and placed in its box or between two foam boards, upright | Hung once its place is decided |
| Computer and printer | Connections photographed and ink cartridges removed | Reconnected from the photo |
We put each appliance in a carton of its own size or roll it in a blanket and stretch film, and write “UP” with a clear arrow on the carton. A fridge that travels tilted or lying down may not cool afterwards as it used to.
Cleaning before and after the move
A move is a rare chance to clean what was hidden behind the furniture. But we say plainly what we do and what we do not: the crew wipes dust off the pieces before wrapping them so it is not trapped under the film to scratch the surface, and rolls carpets and rugs after sweeping them. Washing with water, however, is not part of the move.
- Wash carpets, blankets and bedding days before the move and make sure they are completely dry. Damp fabric wrapped for ten hours in a truck comes out smelling.
- Clean the oven and extractor hood of grease before packing, because grease stains the carton and whatever sits beside it.
- Empty the fridge, clean it, and leave its door slightly open after drying.
- Have the new home in Madinah cleaned before the truck arrives, not after; cleaning around assembled furniture is harder.
Moving cars on a carrier between Riyadh and Madinah
Many families travel by plane or in one car and leave the second to us. A car does not go inside the furniture truck; it is lifted onto a car carrier that takes the same Qassim road, secured by its wheels with straps and left uncovered.
Before loading, the car is photographed from every side and its odometer and any scratches are recorded in a report you sign, about a quarter of a tank of fuel is left in it, and personal belongings are removed. The price on this line is set on request by the type of car and by whether the carrier is shared, dedicated or enclosed. The service is detailed on the car shipping page.
Moving offices, shops and establishments
Moving an office or a shop to Madinah differs from moving a home in two things: time and order. A business owner does not want to stop for a week, so we load after the working day or at the weekend, and deliver so that staff are back at their desks on the first working day.
Order means numbering desks and files by department and employee, not by room alone. Metal shelving is dismantled and its panels bundled, the connections of equipment are photographed, and files travel in cartons sealed with tape signed by their owner. Commercial goods in quantity move on pallets, as detailed in the article on domestic shipping in Saudi Arabia.
Temporary storage if the new home is delayed
It often happens that the lease in Riyadh ends before the home in Madinah is ready. The answer is for the furniture to stay packed and numbered as loaded, in a closed warehouse, until you ask for delivery. The storage price on this line is set on request by volume and number of days, and it is written in the booking confirmation.
Furniture that is to be stored is packed a little differently: wood and fabric are left an air vent, and sofas are not sealed in tight film for weeks. So tell us at the survey that you intend to store. General information on storage is on the storage page.
The opposite direction: furniture moving from Madinah to Riyadh
The line works in both directions. We collect from your home in Madinah in the same way and deliver in any district of Riyadh, and the starting prices are the same. The practical difference lies in two things: the loading time in Madinah is built on the truck entry hours in force there, and the arrival time in Riyadh on the hours when trucks are barred in the capital.
A shared load from Madinah to Riyadh may wait a day longer outside the seasons. After Ramadan and the Hajj, on the other hand, returning trucks are plentiful and it is easy to find space for a room or a handful of pieces.
Air freight for urgent cartons from Riyadh to Madinah
Furniture travels by truck, but some of what is in the home cannot wait two or three days: the first week’s clothes, a student’s books and computer, medicines, work papers. These are sent by air from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.

There are several direct flights a day between the two airports, and the flying time is about an hour and a half. We collect the cartons and suitcases from your door in Riyadh, they leave on the first available flight with cargo space, and they are then distributed from Madinah airport to your address. Door to door takes one to two days, depending on the schedule in force and the time of collection.
| Item | Air freight | Closed truck |
|---|---|---|
| What it suits | Cartons, suitcases, documents and small devices | Furniture, large appliances and everything in the home |
| Door-to-door time | 1–2 days | 1–4 days, by type of truck |
| How it is charged | By chargeable weight, the greater of actual and volumetric | By the volume the furniture occupies |
| Price | Set on request | A room from SAR 550 and a carton from SAR 87 |
| What is not accepted | Flammable liquids, loose batteries and perfume in quantity | Hazardous materials and filled gas cylinders |
Our advice is to split your load: what you need in the first three days flies, and the rest comes by truck. Volumetric weight is explained on the air freight page, and airport services in the article on the air freight company in Riyadh.
If your next destination is outside the Kingdom
Some of those who move to Madinah return to their own countries years later, and some Riyadh residents ask about moving abroad directly. International shipping is our core work: by land in closed trucks to the Gulf and Jordan, by sea in containers from Jeddah Islamic Port or from Yanbu port, the nearest to Madinah, and by air from the Riyadh and Madinah airports.
| Example from Riyadh | Price starts from |
|---|---|
| A bedroom to Kuwait by land | SAR 920 |
| A bedroom or studio to the UAE by land | SAR 1,380 |
| A flat’s furniture to the UAE by land | SAR 4,150 |
| Air freight to the Gulf, per kilogram | SAR 14 |
| Air freight to Europe, per kilogram | SAR 23 |
| Air freight to the UK, per kilogram | SAR 26 |
| Air freight to North and West Africa, per kilogram | SAR 28 |
| Air freight to the USA, per kilogram | SAR 41 |
The details are in the international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia article, in the international shipping company in Riyadh article for those shipping from the capital, and in shipping from Madinah to the UAE as an example of the lines that start from Madinah.
Follow-up, guarantee and insurance
From the moment the truck door closes you know where your furniture is. The supervisor sends a photo of the load after it is secured, then a message on leaving Riyadh and another at Al-Hanakiyah about an hour and a half before arrival, so you are at home when the truck stops at the door. You can also call the same number at any time between 7 am and 11 pm.
The guarantee customers ask about has a defined meaning with us: the crew is responsible for what it packs and loads with its own hands, under the terms written in the booking confirmation. That is why we photograph the pieces before dismantling and record their condition. Cartons you fill yourself are marked as such, since their contents are your responsibility.
Anyone with costly pieces such as ornaments, hand-woven carpets or new appliances may ask for cargo insurance. It is optional, priced on the value you declare, and stated in the booking confirmation.

Tips for moving furniture over a long distance
These are tips we give every customer on this line, and most of them save money or prevent damage. Start on them a week before the moving date, not the night before.
- Pieces that dismantle easily are taken apart first and bundled, so they do not take up an assembled piece’s space in the truck.
- Leave the large, awkward pieces to the carpenter; a wardrobe dismantled wrongly never goes back as it was.
- Gather glassware in small, tightly closed cartons, each piece wrapped alone, and write “FRAGILE” on every side.
- Do not fill a carton beyond what two hands can carry. A 40 kg carton of books loses its bottom on the stairs.
- Write the contents and the room on every carton; a number alone is not enough.
- Seal cartons with tape top and bottom, because road dust gets in through any gap.
- Money, gold, passports and title deeds go in no carton at all, but in your hand luggage.
- Prepare a “first day” carton: charger, cups, towels and simple tools, and let it be the last thing loaded.
Common mistakes in furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah
- Treating the trip like a move within the city, then booking an open truck for a road 850 km long.
- Forgetting the outdoor furniture at the survey, so a truck smaller than needed turns up.
- Fixing the arrival time without asking about truck entry hours for the district in Madinah.
- Switching the fridge on the moment it is set down after ten hours of vibration.
- Comparing two prices when one includes dismantling and packing and the other does not.
- Booking two days ahead for the last ten days of Ramadan or the run-up to the Hajj.
- Signing for receipt before counting the cartons and opening the glass cartons.
How do you choose a furniture mover between the two cities?
Published prices look alike, and the difference shows in the details you ask about before paying. Do not rely on a spoken promise; ask for everything in writing. The table gathers the signs that reassure and those that call for caution.
| A reassuring sign | A sign that calls for caution |
|---|---|
| A declared commercial registration and a clear establishment name | A mobile number only, with no name and no registration |
| An itemised price after seeing photos or a survey | A flat price by phone with no question about the furniture |
| A closed, padded truck named in the confirmation | “A suitable vehicle” with its type left unsaid |
| A numbered list and photos before dismantling | Loading with no list and no signature |
| Liability terms written in the booking confirmation | A “full guarantee” in words only |
| Clarity about who unloads and assembles in Madinah | The load handed to unknown labourers on arrival |

Frequently asked questions about furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah
How much does furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah cost?
Moving a room or a few pieces in a shared load starts from SAR 550, a two-room flat from SAR 735, a three-room flat from SAR 1,100, a large flat from SAR 2,020, and a villa from SAR 3,220. The figure you actually pay is fixed once we have seen photos of the furniture and know the floor in both homes and whether you want a truck to yourself. Send the photos to 0552803439.
How long does the trip between the two cities take?
The road is about 850 km, and a loaded truck covers it in 8 to 10 hours of driving. A dedicated truck therefore loads in Riyadh on one day and unloads in Madinah on the next, while a big house takes two full days. A shared load arrives in 2 to 4 days because it waits for the truck to fill with other consignments on the same line.
Which road does the truck take?
It leaves the north-west of Riyadh on the Riyadh–Qassim expressway, then turns west onto the Qassim–Madinah expressway, known as Highway 60, passing Uqlat as-Suqur and then Al-Hanakiyah about 108 km before Madinah. On the last stretch the black basalt lava fields appear on both sides of the road, the sign that the city is near.
Does Home Safe have a branch in Riyadh or Madinah?
No. Home Safe is a Saudi establishment based in Jeddah with commercial registration 4030601060, and moves on this line are arranged by advance booking: we agree the day with you, schedule the crew and the truck for your date in Riyadh, and the crew stays with the furniture through unloading and assembly in Madinah. One contact number serves you from the first call to the last piece.
Do you dismantle outdoor seating, garden swings and canopies?
Yes, and they are what gets forgotten most in Riyadh homes. A steel swing is taken down to its legs and seat, and its bolts are numbered in a bag taped to the leg itself. An outdoor seating set has its cushions removed and wrapped one by one, and its frame is rolled in blankets. A canopy set in concrete is different: at the survey we tell you whether it can come out without cutting.
A dedicated truck or a shared load: which should I choose?
A dedicated truck suits anyone moving a whole home or needing a fixed arrival day, because it leaves when loading ends and stops for nobody else. A shared load suits a room or a handful of pieces when waiting two or three days does no harm, and it costs less because you pay only for the space your furniture occupies. Either way the truck is closed and padded.
Can a large truck enter the districts near the Prophet’s Mosque?
Truck entry to the central area and its surroundings is regulated by the traffic department within set hours, and those hours tighten in Ramadan and the Hajj season. So we confirm the hours in force before loading day, and when a large truck cannot enter it stops at the nearest permitted point and a small vehicle completes the move to the building’s door.
Does the price include dismantling, packing and assembly?
The price we send you is itemised line by line: transport, dismantling and assembly, packing materials and the number of workers. Dismantling and reassembling furniture starts from SAR 460, and extra packing for delicate pieces from SAR 275. Anyone who packs their own cartons and leaves us the large pieces pays less. Always ask to have what the price covers, and what it does not, put in writing.
How are the fridge, washing machine and air conditioners moved this far?
The fridge is unplugged hours before loading so its ice melts and it dries out, it travels upright, and in Madinah it is switched on only after standing for a few hours. The washing machine has its drum locked with the transit bolts. A split air conditioner is removed by a technician who first pumps the gas down into the outdoor unit, and it is fitted in the new home with piping that suits the wall.
Will you move my car with the furniture?
A car does not go inside the furniture truck; it is loaded onto a car carrier that takes the same road. The price of moving a car from Riyadh to Madinah is set on request, by its type and by whether the carrier is shared or dedicated. We arrange the two dates together so the car arrives close to the day the furniture does, and you are not left in Madinah without one.
What if the furniture arrives before I get the keys in Madinah?
Tell us when you book, not on loading day. We delay the truck’s departure from Riyadh if the gap is a day or two, and if it is longer the furniture is kept packed and numbered in a warehouse until you receive the key. The storage price in that case is set on request by volume and number of days, and it is stated in the booking confirmation.
Can urgent cartons be sent by plane?
Yes. There are several direct flights a day between King Khalid International Airport and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, with a flying time of about an hour and a half. Cartons and suitcases you need in your first days therefore reach your address in one to two days, priced on request by chargeable weight. Furniture itself is not suited to air.
What does the “guarantee” in furniture moving mean?
It means the crew is responsible for what it packs and loads with its own hands, under the terms written in the booking confirmation you receive before moving day. That is why we photograph the pieces before dismantling and record their condition in a list you sign. Anyone wanting financial cover for valuable pieces can ask for cargo insurance, which is optional and priced on the declared value.
Do you move in the opposite direction, from Madinah to Riyadh?
Yes, with the same service and the same starting prices: dismantling and packing in your home in Madinah, a closed truck on the Qassim road, and unloading and assembly in any district of Riyadh. A shared load in this direction may wait a day longer outside the seasons, because relocations from Madinah to the capital are less regular.
How do I book, and what information do you need?
Send to 0552803439 photos of the rooms or a list of the pieces, the district and floor in Riyadh and in Madinah, whether the two buildings have lifts, and the day that suits you. You receive an itemised price, and once you agree the booking confirmation follows with the date and the terms. It is best to book a week ahead, and two weeks ahead if the move falls in Ramadan or near the Hajj.
