What does an international furniture moving company from Riyadh provide?
An international move is not a local move over a longer distance. Someone moving to Amman, Beirut or London also needs packing that holds for days or weeks, an inventory that customs will accept, an export declaration, and somebody to receive and clear the furniture in the other country. We handle all of these links, and you deal with one party and one number.
If your move is within the capital, the article on furniture moving in Riyadh is the right place; this page is for those leaving the Kingdom with their furniture. The Kingdom-wide service is explained in the article international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia.
Who moves furniture from Riyadh to another country?
Most of those who ask for the service in the capital are residents whose contracts have ended or staff who have been transferred, and each group asks about something different.
| Owner of the furniture | What they mostly ship | Usual method | First question |
|---|---|---|---|
| An Arab resident returning home | Bedrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen and appliances | A dedicated or shared truck | Is the furniture exempt at home? |
| An employee transferred to Dubai, Doha or Manama | The furniture of a flat and a car | A closed truck and a car carrier | The arrival day |
| A foreign specialist returning to Europe | Selected furniture, books and ornaments | A dedicated or shared container | Insurance and transfer-of-residence relief |
| A Saudi family furnishing a home abroad | An Arabic majlis, carpets and bedrooms | A truck or a container, depending on the country | Duty on new furniture |
| An embassy or a company | Office furniture and files | A dedicated truck or container | Delivery on a set day |
Survey and listing of the furniture in your Riyadh home
The right price comes from measuring, not from a description. “A three-bedroom flat” may mean twenty cubic metres for one family and forty for another. So we begin with a survey: a short visit to your home, a video call in which you walk the camera through the rooms, or photos and a list on WhatsApp. We come away with three figures: the volume of the furniture once dismantled, the number of pieces that need a wooden crate, and the number of workers and hours.
During the survey we also look at the building’s lift and where the truck can stand. The table gives a rough idea of the volume of typical Riyadh homes.
| Home | Approximate volume after dismantling and packing | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| A studio or one bedroom with a lounge | 8–15 m³ | Space in a shared truck or container |
| A two-bedroom flat | 20–28 m³ | A medium truck or a 20ft container |
| A three-to-four-bedroom flat | 30–45 m³ | A large truck or a 40ft container |
| A whole villa with its reception rooms | 60–90 m³ | A trailer, or a 40ft container plus a 20ft one |
If you would like to do the sums before calling, the cubic metre calculator adds up the dimensions of your pieces one by one.
Dismantling and packing furniture in Riyadh homes before shipping

The working day in the house starts with a walk-round, not a screwdriver. The supervisor goes through the rooms with you, agrees what is to be shipped and what stays, and photographs every old scratch. Then the crew splits up: a carpenter for dismantling, two workers for packing, and one writing the list.
Dismantling bedrooms and wardrobes
The bedroom is the bulkiest part of the home and the one with the most parts. The wardrobe is emptied first, then its doors and mirrors come off, then its shelves and drawers, then the carcass is separated into sides, back and base. The bed is taken down into headboard, two rails and slats. The dressing table has its mirror detached from its base. Kitchen cabinets are removed unit by unit, and each unit is marked with its position on the wall. Screws and hinges go into a clear bag carrying the number of the piece, taped to the inside of one of its panels.
- Painted and glossy wood: thin foam against the surface, then corrugated cardboard, and cardboard corners on the edges.
- Sofas and Arabic majlis seating: a moving blanket, then heavy polythene, with bolsters and cushions in compressed bags.
- Mirrors, glass and marble: bubble wrap and foam, then a wooden frame, carried upright on the edge.
Protecting the stairs and floors
The piece itself is not the only thing that can be damaged on moving day. Many Riyadh homes are handed back to the landlord after departure, and a scratch on the marble stairs or the corner of a wall is deducted from the deposit. So we lay felt or thick cardboard along the corridors before the first piece leaves, fit guards on the stair rail and the door corners, and pad the lift walls.
Numbering every piece and the inventory
No piece leaves the house without a number. The label carries a serial number and the name of the room, and it matches a line on the list giving the description of the piece and its condition. This sheet is what the customs officer reads at the crossing, what the furniture is counted against on delivery, and what the insurance value is taken from. You and the supervisor sign two copies before the truck door is closed. The piece-by-piece method is in the packing guide, and anyone who wants to prepare some cartons personally will find what is needed in the article on packing furniture for a move.
Destinations for furniture from Riyadh: which route for each country?
The country sets the method. Whatever a paved road reaches from Riyadh goes by truck, whatever lies across the sea goes by container, and Egypt sits between the two with a truck that boards a ferry. The table brings together the main destinations, the exit point for each and the door-to-door time.
| Destination | Method | Exit from the Kingdom | Time to the door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bahrain | Closed truck | King Fahd Causeway | 1–4 days |
| Qatar | Closed truck | Salwa → Abu Samra | 2–5 days |
| Kuwait | Closed truck | Khafji or Ar-Ruqi | 2–5 days |
| UAE | Closed truck | Batha → Al Ghuwaifat | 2–7 days |
| Oman | Closed truck | Rub’ al-Khali, or through the UAE | 3–7 days |
| Jordan | Closed truck | Haditha → Al-Omari | 3–7 days |
| Iraq | Closed truck | Jadidat Arar | 4–12 days |
| Syria | Closed truck through Jordan | Haditha, then Jaber → Nassib | 5–14 days |
| Lebanon | Truck through Jordan and Syria, or a container | Haditha, or Jeddah port | 5–10 days by land |
| Egypt | Truck, then ferry | Duba port | 9–14 days |
| Turkey | Container to Mersin | Jeddah Islamic Port | 18–28 days |
| Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco | Container through the Suez Canal | Jeddah Islamic Port | 18–35 days |
| Britain, Germany and northern Europe | Container | Jeddah port, or Dammam by train | 27–38 days |
What lengthens the time?
- Filling the shared load: the truck bound for your country does not leave Riyadh before it is full or its weekly departure falls due.
- A missing paper at the crossing: a list that does not match what is in the box means a manual inspection that can take a whole day.
- Departure seasons: after school exams and before the Eids the queues at Batha and Haditha grow longer.
Times for the other services and destinations are on the transit times page.
Closed trucks moving furniture from Riyadh to the Gulf and Jordan

More than half of the furniture that leaves Riyadh heads east or north on wheels. The box truck stops at your home, the furniture is stowed in it once, and nothing touches it again until the door is opened at the consignee’s address. The entry crossing depends on the city you are bound for, not on the country alone.
| To | The truck’s road from Riyadh | Delivery cities | Route article |
|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | Al-Kharj → Haradh → Batha → Al Ghuwaifat | Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah | Riyadh – UAE |
| Kuwait | Al-Majma’ah → Hafar Al-Batin → Ar-Ruqi, or Nairyah → Khafji | Kuwait City, Hawalli, Salmiya, Farwaniya, Ahmadi and Jahra | Riyadh – Kuwait |
| Qatar | Al-Ahsa → Salwa → Abu Samra | Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Lusail and Al Khor | Riyadh – Qatar |
| Bahrain | The Dammam motorway → Khobar → King Fahd Causeway | Manama, Muharraq, Riffa, Hamad Town and Isa Town | Riyadh – Bahrain |
| Oman | Haradh → the Rub’ al-Khali crossing → Ibri, or through the UAE | Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Ibri and Salalah | Riyadh – Oman |
| Jordan | Qassim → Hail → Al-Jawf → Qurayyat → Haditha | Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Salt, Madaba and Aqaba | Riyadh – Jordan |
The Jordan road is the longest of these lines, about 1,450 km to Amman, 155 km of it after the Jordanian Al-Omari post. The Rub’ al-Khali road to Oman runs through open desert, so we check on booking day that it is operating for trucks, and reroute the load through the UAE if need be.
Dedicated or shared truck
The dedicated box waits for nobody, and its price is fixed whether you fill it or not. Shared space is cheaper, and its cost is days of waiting.
| Comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | A flat of three bedrooms or more, a villa or an office | A bedroom, a sitting room, appliances, cartons |
| How it is charged | By truck size: light truck, lorry or trailer | By the room or by the cubic metre |
| Departure from Riyadh | The hour loading ends | On the next run to the same country |
| At the crossing | One declaration and one list | Several declarations, and an inspection of any one stops them all |
The land service is explained on the land freight page, and the six Gulf lines together in the article on shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states.
Moving furniture from Riyadh to Lebanon and Beirut
Lebanon is among the farthest land destinations from Riyadh, and its road crosses three borders. The closed truck leaves through the Haditha crossing to the Al-Omari post, crosses Jordan to Jaber, enters Syria at Nassib and passes Damascus, then enters Lebanon from Jdeidet Yabous at the Masnaa crossing. From there it descends to Chtaura and on to Beirut. The distance is about 1,800 km and the door-to-door time 5 to 10 days. Depending on the state of the crossings, we confirm the available route before shipping, and the load may be moved from one truck to another at one of the crossings.
For anyone who prefers not to use the land road there is an alternative: a container loaded in Riyadh, carried to Jeddah port and shipped to the port of Beirut or the port of Tripoli. Delivery in Lebanon covers Beirut and its suburbs and Mount Lebanon, Tripoli and the north, Sidon, Tyre and the south, and Zahle and the Bekaa.
| What you move to Lebanon | Method | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Personal effects, cartons and suitcases | Shared truck | SAR 1,650 |
| Furniture of a small flat | Truck | SAR 3,700 |
| Furniture of a large flat | Full truck | SAR 6,000 |
| 20ft container to the port of Beirut | Sea | SAR 4,600 |
| Furniture of a villa | Land or sea | Set on request |
Lebanese customs give special treatment to the furniture of a Lebanese national returning for good. The practice in force is an exemption for anyone who has lived outside Lebanon for more than three years, with a statement from the Lebanese embassy in Riyadh and a packing list that it authenticates, and with the owner or an agent present at clearance. Anything else pays duty according to its category plus value added tax at the rate currently applied, 11%. We confirm which of these conditions are in force before loading. The full details of the line are in the article shipping company from Riyadh to Lebanon, and an overview of the destination is on the shipping to Lebanon page.
Syria, Iraq and Egypt: three land destinations, each with its own road
Returnees from Riyadh ask for these three destinations often, and the road to one is nothing like the road to another.
- Syria: the truck crosses Jordan and enters at Nassib, reaching Damascus in 5 to 14 days. The smallest shipment starts from SAR 1,650 and the furniture of a small flat from SAR 3,700. Details are in the article on furniture moving from Riyadh to Syria.
- Iraq: a direct road with no third country, through Hafar Al-Batin and Arar to the Jadidat Arar crossing. A bedroom starts from SAR 2,300 and the furniture of a whole home in a dedicated truck from SAR 5,980. Details are in the article on shipping from Riyadh to Iraq.
- Egypt: a closed truck to Duba port, then the whole truck boards the ferry to the Egyptian coast and is cleared there. A bedroom starts from SAR 1,650 and the furniture of a three-bedroom flat from SAR 4,150. Details are in the article on shipping from Riyadh to Egypt.
The furniture container from Riyadh to the port, bound for Europe and North Africa

For anyone returning to Istanbul, Tripoli in Libya, Casablanca or London, the sea is the only road for the furniture. Riyadh has no port, so the journey begins with a land leg inside the Kingdom. The container is loaded at your home where the street allows, or the furniture is brought to it in a closed truck. The container then heads for one of two ports.
| Comparison | By truck to Jeddah Islamic Port | By train from the dry port to Dammam port |
|---|---|---|
| Distance inside the Kingdom | About 950 km via Taif | About 550 km on the freight railway |
| The ship’s route | The Red Sea, then straight to the Suez Canal | The Gulf, then round the Arabian Peninsula to the Red Sea |
| Export declaration | Completed at Jeddah port | Completed in Riyadh, and the container moves sealed |
| We use it | For most furniture to Europe, Turkey and North Africa | When the shipping line has a better sailing from Dammam |
The container itself comes in two sizes. The small one, 20ft, holds in practice 25 to 28 cubic metres of packed furniture, that is a two-to-three-bedroom flat. The large one, 40ft, holds 55 to 60 cubic metres, that is a villa, or a flat together with a car. Anyone whose furniture fills less than half of the small one books by the cubic metre in a shared container. Internal dimensions are on the container sizes page.
Inside the container every row of furniture is strapped to the wall rings, and moisture-absorbing bags are hung. After sailing it reaches Mersin in 18 to 28 days from your door, Moroccan ports in 22 to 34 days, and British and German ports in 27 to 38 days. A shared container adds some days to that. The service is explained on the sea freight page.

The flat column refers to a small flat for Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Syria and Lebanon, and to a flat of two or three bedrooms for the UAE, Oman, Jordan and Egypt. A cubic metre in a shared truck starts from SAR 415 to Bahrain and SAR 550 to the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait. The smallest shipment to Syria and Lebanon is a consignment of personal effects and cartons, and anything beyond that is charged by volume.
Prices by sea
| Destination | Cubic metre in a shared container | Bedroom or part load | 20ft container | 40ft container | Route article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turkey | SAR 415 | SAR 1,100 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 5,200 | Riyadh – Turkey |
| Libya | SAR 415 | SAR 1,650 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 5,200 | Riyadh – Libya |
| Tunisia | SAR 415 | SAR 2,575 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 5,200 | Riyadh – Tunisia |
| Algeria | SAR 415 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 4,600 | SAR 5,200 | Riyadh – Algeria |
| Morocco | SAR 780 | SAR 2,300 | SAR 7,800 | SAR 14,720 | Riyadh – Morocco |

| Britain | Set on request | SAR 5,500 | Set on request | Riyadh – Britain | |
The container figures for Turkey, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria are the sea freight alone from Jeddah port. Carrying the container from Riyadh to the port and delivery inside the destination country are set on request according to volume and city. Vessel rates change from month to month, so the figure is fixed on booking day.
Prices quoted in the market for international furniture moving from Riyadh are almost absent from published pages. Those we reviewed promise discounts of 25% and 30% with no base figure, or mention a flat sum of about SAR 300 that is in fact the charge for a move within the city, or simply say “call for the price”. The figures published for particular lines are higher than ours: a bedroom to Iraq between SAR 2,500 and 3,500, to Tunisia by sea between SAR 2,800 and 3,500, to Egypt about SAR 1,800, and the furniture of a whole home to Iraq between SAR 6,500 and 11,000.
What raises or lowers the price?
- Volume after dismantling: it is the basis of the charge, and a dismantled wardrobe takes a third of the space it takes standing.
- The city in the destination country: Salalah is not Muscat, Aleppo is not Damascus, and Istanbul is not Mersin.
- The road from Riyadh to the port: a separate item in every sea shipment.
How do you cut the cost?
- Choose the shared load as long as your arrival date can bear a few days.
- Sell or give away whatever is easy to buy again there: old mattresses and cheap cupboards.
- Ask for the quote item by item, and compare what it covers rather than its last figure.
A fuller explanation of the items is on the pricing factors page.
Shipping electrical appliances with the household furniture
Appliances are the most valuable things in the home after the bedrooms, and the ones that suffer most from poor preparation. So we ask you to disconnect the fridge a full day ahead and drain the washing-machine hoses.
- Fridge and freezer: shelves and drawers are taped in place, the unit is packed in foam and reinforced cardboard, and it travels upright.
- Washing machine: the transit bolt that holds the drum is refitted; if it is lost, the drum is packed with foam.
- Air conditioner: a cooling engineer first locks the refrigerant inside the outdoor unit; the two units then come off the wall and each pipe end gets a cap.
- Television: in its original box or in a padded wooden crate, with nothing placed on top of it.
Check the rating plate behind the appliance before deciding to ship it: the frequency in the Kingdom is 60 Hz, and in the Gulf, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Europe it is 50 Hz, and some motors and compressors do not run well off their own frequency. A new appliance in its box is treated by customs as goods, not as used furniture, so attach its invoice.
Shipping suitcases and personal effects from Riyadh
Not everyone who leaves owns a furnished home. Someone who lived in a furnished flat has only suitcases and cartons, and excess baggage on the plane costs far more than freight. These effects join the shared load alongside furniture shipments to the same country.
A carton to the Gulf states and Jordan starts from SAR 140 and a suitcase from SAR 230. To Lebanon and Syria a consignment of personal effects starts from SAR 1,650. To Egypt a medium carton starts from SAR 140 and a large one from SAR 185. We write the contents of each suitcase briefly on the list. Do not put in it a passport, cash, gold or medicine you need on the journey. The service is on the parcel shipping page.
Shipping the car with the furniture from Riyadh
Most people who move their home move their car too. To the Gulf, Jordan and Iraq the car is loaded on a car carrier, open or enclosed, and lashed by its wheels. To sea destinations it has two routes: the roll-on roll-off ship, onto which the car is driven, or a 40ft container which it shares with the furniture behind a timber partition.
| To | Method | A saloon car starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Bahrain | Carrier over the King Fahd Causeway | SAR 830 |
| Qatar | Carrier through Salwa | SAR 1,100 |
| Jordan | Carrier through Haditha | SAR 1,290 |
| Kuwait | Carrier through Ar-Ruqi or Khafji | SAR 1,380 |
| UAE | Carrier through Batha | SAR 1,650 |
| Iraq | Carrier through Jadidat Arar | SAR 2,300 |
| Lebanon, Turkey, Europe and Morocco | RoRo or container from Jeddah port | SAR 2,800 from the port |
| Moving the car from Riyadh to the port | Domestic carrier | Set on request |
Before the price comes the question of age. Under current practice Lebanon does not accept a used car older than 8 years, Jordan requires a passenger car to be no more than 5 years from its year of manufacture, and other countries ask for technical conformity. So we check your car against your country’s rule and confirm what is in force before booking it. More is in the article car shipping company in Riyadh and on the car shipping page.
Customs relief for the furniture of people returning from Riyadh
The Kingdom charges no duty on your used furniture as it leaves, and all it asks for is an export declaration, which we prepare. The customs that matter to you are those of the country you enter. Most countries exempt anyone who is really moving home, on conditions that differ between them. The table sums up current practice; it changes, so we confirm what applies to your case before shipping.
| Destination country | Current practice for the furniture of a returnee or new resident |
|---|---|
| Gulf states | Used household furniture and personal effects are usually exempt for holders of a residence permit or ID in the destination country |
| Jordan | For a Jordanian who has lived abroad a year or more, provided the furniture arrives within six months of the return |
| Lebanon | For a Lebanese who has lived abroad more than three years and returned for good, with a statement and a list both authenticated by the embassy |
| Syria | An exemption for returnees’ furniture has been announced; we check its current conditions on booking |
| Egypt | Used effects and furniture have exemption rules, and appliances are examined and valued one by one |
| Turkey | A residence or work permit, a one-year tenancy contract or a title deed, and the owner present |
| EU countries | Transfer-of-residence relief for anyone who has lived outside the Union at least a year and used the furniture for six months |
| Britain | A transfer-of-residence relief application submitted and approved before the container arrives |
| Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria | Returning nationals have their own scheme: the consulate certifies the change of residence and stamps the list |
In all of these countries three things cost a piece its exemption: being new in its box, being duplicated beyond the needs of one household, or being left off the list. The clearance procedure is on the customs clearance page.
Documents required to move furniture from Riyadh
We ask you for copies of the papers when the booking is confirmed, not on loading day. That leaves time to obtain whatever is missing, such as the embassy statement or the final exit visa issued by the employer.
| Paper | For whom | Who prepares it |
|---|---|---|
| Copy of the residence permit or national ID | Every sender | You |
| Copy of the passport | Every sender | You |
| Final exit visa | A resident leaving for good | You or your employer |
| Statement or authentication from your embassy | Anyone claiming returnee relief where it is required | You, and we tell you what is needed |
| Proof of housing in the destination country | Anyone claiming relief | You: a tenancy contract, a title deed or a residence permit |
| Numbered inventory | Every shipment | We do, and you sign it |
| Bill of lading and export declaration | Every shipment | We do |
Templates for these papers are on the shipping documents page.
What does not go into the furniture truck or container
Inspection at the crossings is by X-ray, then by hand where there is doubt. One prohibited item in one carton is enough to have the whole load taken down. So the crew opens drawers and cupboards before packing them, and leaves with you whatever cannot be shipped.
| Item | Why it is not shipped | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Gas cylinders, paint tins, pesticides and lighters | Flammable or explosive materials | Left in Riyadh |
| Cash, gold and jewellery | Not covered by insurance policies | In your hand luggage |
| Passports, certificates and title deeds | Cannot be replaced if lost | With you on the plane |
| Medicines | Subject to the destination country’s restrictions | A personal quantity with its prescription in your luggage |
| Food and loose spices | They spoil or are held for inspection | Used up before travel |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped with effects and goods | The traveller’s dedicated pack at the airport |
The remaining items are on the prohibited items page.
Air freight from Riyadh via King Khalid Airport

An aircraft does not carry a home, but it carries what the home needs in its first days. The truck to Amman takes a week and the container to London five weeks, and in that time the family needs the season’s clothes, the work laptop and the school papers. So we send the small, urgent and valuable part by air. The airport lies about 35 km north of central Riyadh and has a cargo village.
| To | Time to the door | Price starts from |
|---|---|---|
| Gulf states | One to 3 days | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Jordan and Lebanon | One to 4 days | SAR 14 per kilogram |
| Turkey | 2–4 days | SAR 110 for a parcel up to 5 kg, and SAR 17 per kilogram above 300 kg |
| Germany and European countries | 3–6 days | SAR 23 per kilogram |
| Britain | 3–6 days | SAR 26 per kilogram |
| Libya, Algeria and Morocco | 2–7 days | SAR 28 per kilogram |
| Documents to most destinations | Express | SAR 83 |
The kilogram you are charged for is not always what the scale reads. Airlines compare actual weight with volumetric weight and take the higher, which is why a light sofa costs more than a heavy box of books. What suits air: suitcases, a computer, a valuable rolled rug, a painting in a crate. Loose batteries and aerosols do not fly. Delivery is to the door, handled by our partner in the destination country after clearance. Work out your weight with the volumetric weight calculator; the airport services are in the article air freight company in Riyadh and on the air freight page.
Collection from Riyadh districts and nearby governorates
Riyadh stretches more than sixty kilometres from north to south, and the type of housing changes from one side to the other, each with its own way of loading.
| Side | Districts we serve | What we watch for |

Storing the furniture when the two dates do not match
The day you hand over the house in Riyadh rarely coincides with the day you take over the new one. In that case the furniture leaves your house packed and inventoried as if it were about to be shipped, then is kept in a closed warehouse until you give us the address. The storage price in Riyadh is set on request according to volume and period.
If your furniture is to sail from Jeddah, storage in our warehouse there starts from SAR 185 a month for a small space and SAR 600 for the furniture of a flat. If the shipment reaches the destination country before you, our partner arranges storage there at a price set on request. The service is on the storage page.
Door to door: delivery and reassembly in the destination country
“Door to door” means that someone from our side or from our partners holds the shipment at every stage. In Riyadh it is our crew, and in the destination country a local partner receives, clears and delivers to your address, and we say so plainly: we have no offices outside the Kingdom, only agents we work with on each line.
At your new door the pieces are unloaded and each is placed in the room written on its label, and what we dismantled in Riyadh is put back together: beds, wardrobes and tables. What the service covers on delivery is written in the booking confirmation: whether it ends at the building entrance or includes carrying upstairs, reassembly and removal of the cardboard. The service is on the door to door page.
Steps for moving your furniture from Riyadh to another country
- You call or message: you tell us your district in Riyadh, the destination country and city, and your travel date.
- We survey: by a visit or by video, measuring the volume and checking the access.
- You receive the quote: with the method, the time and the price broken down by item.
- You send the papers: we check them against your country’s conditions and tell you what is missing.
- We book: a place in the shared truck, a dedicated truck, or a container and its place on the ship.
- The day at home: dismantling, packing, numbering and a signed list, then loading.
- The road and clearance: Saudi export, then import in the destination country, with a message to you at each stage.
- Delivery: unloading, reassembly and checking against the list, then signing for receipt.
Insuring the furniture and tracking the shipment
We are responsible for what our own hands do: dismantling, packing and loading, and the limits of that responsibility are written in the booking confirmation. What happens on the road that no carrier controls, such as a traffic accident or a rough sea, is covered by cargo insurance. Its premium is a percentage of the value you write on the list, and compensation does not exceed it.
Every shipment has a reference number. Messages reach you on it at the points where something changes: leaving Riyadh, entering the crossing and leaving it, or the ship sailing and arriving, then the end of clearance and the delivery appointment. Details are on the cargo insurance and shipment tracking pages.
Moving furniture from abroad to Riyadh
The road works in both directions. For anyone moving to Riyadh from Dubai, Kuwait, Amman or Istanbul, we arrange collection of the furniture there through our partner, and it enters the Kingdom through the same crossing or port. Current practice is that the used household furniture of a returnee or a new resident is exempt on conditions set by Saudi customs, and we confirm what is in force before shipping. The price for this direction is set on request.
How do you choose an international furniture moving company in Riyadh?
The advertisements look alike, and the real test lies in the questions the mover asks you before pricing. A mover who does not ask about your country and your papers does not know what awaits your furniture at the border.
| Item | Reassuring | Worrying |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | An establishment with a commercial registration whose number it states | An advert in an individual’s name with a mobile number |
| Price | Given after a survey and written item by item | An instant figure on the phone that changes on loading day |
| Papers | A numbered inventory and a bill of lading in your name | Loading without a document |
| Customs | Explains your country’s conditions and promises nothing it does not control | “One hundred per cent exempt” without asking about your case |
| Arrival | A known party receives, delivers and reassembles | Hands you a driver’s number and its role ends |
Common mistakes when moving furniture from Riyadh abroad
- Agreeing a “trip” to another country with a passing truck driver, with no list and no declaration, so that the load stops at the crossing.
- Leaving the final exit visa or the embassy statement to the last week, so that loading slips past the travel date.
- Sealing cartons before the crew arrives without writing what is in them, so that they are opened one by one at inspection.
- Shipping old air conditioners whose transport, removal and refitting cost more than their price in the destination country.
- Slipping new boxed appliances in among used furniture in the hope of relief, so that duty is assessed on them and the shipment is held up.
- Handing the house back to the landlord before loading is finished, so that the work is rushed and the packing neglected.
- Forgetting a valuable item or an official paper in the drawer of a cupboard that has been closed and numbered.
Why Home Safe to move your furniture from Riyadh?
Because furniture leaving Riyadh needs someone who knows both ends: what is required in the house here, and what is asked for at the border there. We write down what we will do and what it will cost before you pay, and we tell you what is not in our hands: the customs decision, the ship’s date and the state of the crossings.

Frequently asked questions about international furniture moving from Riyadh
How much does international furniture moving from Riyadh cost?
The figure changes from one country to the next. A bedroom in a shared truck starts from SAR 740 to Bahrain, SAR 920 to Kuwait, SAR 1,380 to the UAE and SAR 1,650 to Qatar, Jordan and Egypt. By sea, a cubic metre starts from SAR 415 to Turkey, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, and the freight for a 20ft container from SAR 4,600 out of Jeddah port.
How many days does furniture take to arrive from Riyadh?
Bahrain takes one to 4 days, Qatar and Kuwait two to 5 days, the UAE two to 4 days in a dedicated truck, and Oman and Jordan 3 to 7 days. Lebanon takes 5 to 10 days, and Egypt by truck and ferry 9 to 14 days. A container reaches Turkey in 18 to 28 days, Morocco in 22 to 34 days, and Britain and Germany in 27 to 38 days.
Riyadh has no port, so how is my furniture shipped by sea?
The container or the closed truck is loaded at your home and then takes one of two routes. The first is a truck to Jeddah Islamic Port, about 950 km away; most furniture for Europe, Turkey and North Africa goes this way because the ship starts from the Red Sea. The second is the container train from the dry port in south Riyadh to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.
Do you move furniture from Riyadh to Lebanon and Beirut?
Yes. The closed truck leaves Riyadh for the Haditha crossing, crosses Jordan and Syria, enters Lebanon at Masnaa and reaches Beirut in 5 to 10 days. Depending on the state of the crossings, we confirm the available route before shipping. The alternative is a sea container to the port of Beirut, with freight from SAR 4,600. The furniture of a small flat by land starts from SAR 3,700, and of a large flat from SAR 6,000.
Does the dismantling and packing crew come to my home in Riyadh?
Yes, to any district of the capital and to Diriyah, Al-Kharj and Al-Muzahimiyah. The crew arrives with its tools and materials at the agreed time, takes apart the bedrooms, wardrobes and tables, packs each piece in what suits it, numbers it and enters it on an inventory that you sign.
A dedicated truck or a shared one for my furniture?
Volume and timing settle it. Someone with a bedroom or a few pieces pays in a shared truck for the space used, and waits some days until the load bound for the same country is complete. Someone moving a whole flat or a villa is better served by a dedicated truck, which leaves on the chosen day.
Is my used furniture exempt from customs duty on arrival?
In most countries yes, on conditions. The Gulf states usually exempt used furniture and personal effects for anyone who proves residence there. Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Europe each set conditions for a returnee or a new resident. These rules shift, so we check the practice in force against your case before we load.
Which papers do you ask me for in Riyadh?
A copy of the residence permit or national ID, a copy of the passport, and the consignee’s address and phone number in the destination country. Anyone leaving the Kingdom for good adds a copy of the final exit visa. Anyone claiming customs relief at home adds proof of housing there. The inventory, the bill of lading and the export declaration are prepared by us.
Do you ship electrical appliances with the furniture?
Yes: the fridge, washing machine, oven, air conditioner and television travel with the furniture in the same truck or container. Each appliance is disconnected a day ahead and dried, its moving parts are secured, and it is packed in foam and reinforced cardboard marked with the owner’s name and phone number.
Can I ship my car with the household furniture from Riyadh?
Yes. To the Gulf and Jordan the car travels on a car carrier through the same crossing, from SAR 830 to Bahrain, SAR 1,100 to Qatar and SAR 1,650 to the UAE. To sea destinations it goes with the furniture in a 40ft container, or on its own by roll-on roll-off ship from SAR 2,800 from the port.
Do you ship only suitcases and cartons, without furniture?
Yes. A carton to the Gulf states and Jordan starts from SAR 140 and a suitcase from SAR 230, and they travel with the weekly shared loads. Urgent items fly from SAR 14 per kilogram to the Gulf, Jordan and Lebanon.
Can I store the furniture if I travel before the shipping date?
Yes. The furniture is packed and inventoried, then kept in a closed warehouse until you ask for it to be shipped. The storage price in Riyadh is set on request according to volume and period. If your container is to sail from Jeddah, storage in our warehouse there starts from SAR 185 a month for a small space and SAR 600 for the furniture of a flat.
When do the crew and the truck enter my district?
We agree a day and an hour with you. The traffic authorities regulate the hours at which large trucks may use Riyadh’s main roads, so we confirm the hours in force before loading day.
How many days ahead should I book?
For land freight to the Gulf and Jordan, one to two weeks before loading day is enough. Lebanon, Syria and Iraq need at least two weeks. A sea container needs three weeks to a month, because its place on the ship is booked before it leaves Riyadh.
Do you move office, company and embassy furniture from Riyadh?
Yes. Office furniture is numbered by department and floor, files travel in cartons closed with sealed tape, and screens and computers are packed in padded boxes. The price is set on request after a survey of the premises.
