Who ships from Jeddah to Egypt, and what do they send?

Jeddah has a large Egyptian community of doctors, teachers, engineers and workers, and most Egyptian pilgrims and Umrah visitors arrive through it. That is why our shipments range from a single carton of clothes to a whole home. We ask every customer about his situation before suggesting a method, because what suits an Umrah visitor does not suit someone who has ended his residence:

Shipper What they usually send What we suggest
The Egyptian resident on annual leave Cartons of clothes, kitchenware, toys and gifts Shared truck, priced by the carton
The returnee leaving for good after years of work The home’s furniture, appliances and books Shared truck by volume, or a dedicated truck for a large home
The Umrah visitor and the pilgrim Excess bags, dates, prayer rugs and clothing Shared truck, or air if in a hurry
Someone furnishing a marital home in Egypt Televisions, a washing machine, a fridge, air conditioners and electrical tools Shared truck, priced by the piece
The trader and the factory Goods by the tonne or by the container A container from Jeddah port, or a full truck
Someone with an urgent matter Papers, certificates, samples and personal medicines Air from Jeddah airport

Shipping methods from Jeddah to Egypt

There are three methods, and each has its own kind of shipment. The truck on the ferry is the most requested, because it is priced by the carton and the piece and because the shipment stays in place from Jeddah to the Egyptian warehouse. A container is ordered when the load fills a truck or more. The aircraft is for what is weighed in kilograms rather than measured in cubic metres. Here is how they compare:

Method From where to where Time to the door For which shipment
Closed truck on the ferry Jeddah → Duba → Safaga, Nuweiba or Hurghada 7–12 days Cartons, luggage, appliances and furniture
Sea container Jeddah Islamic Port → Sokhna or Alexandria 12–20 days A whole home and heavy goods
Air freight King Abdulaziz Airport → Cairo or Borg El Arab 3–6 days Documents, parcels and urgent luggage

For how the truck and the ferry work together, read land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt; to weigh road against sea and air in general, use the shipping methods comparison page.

The truck-and-ferry route from Jeddah to Egypt and its transit time

Between Jeddah and the Egyptian coast lies a sea with no bridge, so no truck reaches Egypt unless a ferry carries it. Shipments are first gathered at our warehouse in Jeddah and sorted by governorate. The truck then takes the coastal road north, past Yanbu, Umluj and Al-Wajh, to the port of Duba in the Tabuk region, a distance of roughly 800 km. There it drives onto the ferry with its load, and nothing is taken off it. These are the stages of the journey:

Stage What happens How long it takes
Collection and consolidation in Jeddah Weighing, measuring, packing and numbering, then waiting for the truck to fill 2–4 days
The road to the port of Duba North along the west coast One day
The ferry Exit formalities, then the Red Sea crossing 1–2 days, depending on the sailing
The arrival port in Egypt Inspection and customs clearance with the shipments still on the truck 1–3 days
Warehouse and distribution Unloading and sorting, then small vans to the doors 1–3 days

Ferry lines and their sailings are decided by the operators and change with the seasons, so we do not promise you a sailing on a particular day before we have confirmed it. When the Duba line is congested or suspended, the truck heads for a sailing from Jeddah port if there is one, or for Aqaba in Jordan and from there to Nuweiba.

What lengthens the transit time?

  • The return season: after Hajj, before the two Eids and at the start of the summer holiday, the ferries fill with travellers and their cars.
  • Sea conditions: strong winds delay sailing from Duba by a day or more.
  • An incomplete list: a carton with no description or an appliance left off the list prolongs inspection for the whole truck.
  • A distant governorate: Sinai, the New Valley and the far south have fewer delivery rounds.

Transit times for other destinations are on the transit times page.

Shipping prices from Jeddah to Egypt

Jeddah prices are those of our approved table for shipping to Egypt in the article on furniture shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Egypt, with nothing added. They are starting prices for shared shipping. The final figure is written on your invoice after the shipment has been weighed and measured in front of you, and once we know the delivery governorate and what dismantling and packing you want:

Shipment How it is charged Price starts from
Air document envelope Per envelope SAR 55
Electrical appliance Per piece, by size SAR 92
Medium carton Per carton SAR 140
Large carton Per carton SAR 185
Jumbo carton Per carton SAR 230
Complete bedroom Per room, dismantled and packed SAR 1,650
Furniture of a three-room flat Per shipment SAR 4,150
Commercial goods Per tonne SAR 2,580
20ft or 40ft container, and a dedicated truck Per container or truck Set on request
Air parcel and car Per kilogram, or per car Set on request

Prices quoted in the market: offices advertising shipping from Jeddah to Egypt mostly publish no price list and settle for the phrase “call for the price”. What is actually published is the rates of express-courier platforms for a small parcel, which range between SAR 60 and SAR 130 for a light parcel depending on the carrier. The old article on this page did not give a single figure. So we state the starting prices here plainly, along with what they cover.

Always ask where a price you are offered ends: at the arrival port, at the warehouse in Egypt or at your front door. The difference between the three is both money and time.

What determines the price of your shipment?

Two shipments of the same volume may be priced differently if the governorate or the type of contents differs. These are the items we look at before writing the figure, with the effect of each:

Factor How it affects the price
Volume after packing The basis of the charge on the truck; the larger the shipment, the lower the unit price
The consignee’s governorate Cairo, the Canal cities and the Delta cost less than Aswan and Sinai
New appliances They raise the duty to expect in Egypt, not the freight charge
Dismantling and packing A separate line if you want it done at home
Place of collection Inside Jeddah it is part of the service; from Makkah, Taif and Madinah there is a transfer charge
Season After Hajj and before the Eids, demand for the ferry rises
Dedicated or shared truck Dedicated is faster and dearer; shared is cheaper

These items are detailed on the pricing factors page.

How do you cut the cost of shipping from Jeddah to Egypt?

  • Send everything in one go: ten cartons in one shipment cost less than five and then five.
  • Dismantle wardrobes and beds: a dismantled, stacked piece takes up a small part of the space it fills when standing.
  • Use the empty space: put bedding and clothes inside the washing machine, the drawers and the fridge.
  • Do not ship what can be bought in Egypt for less than its freight: a plastic chair or a worn-out old wardrobe.
  • Book before the Hajj season ends: whoever books early takes his place on the first truck.
  • Share with a relative or colleague: two shipments to one governorate are charged as one larger volume.

What is distinctive about shipping from Jeddah?

Jeddah is both a port city and an airport city, and that gives its shippers an option others do not easily have: a container is handed to Jeddah Islamic Port on the day it is loaded, and a parcel enters the cargo village at King Abdulaziz Airport with no transfer between cities. It is also the closest of the large cities to the coastal road leading to Duba, so its truck is a day or two ahead of the truck from Riyadh or Dammam.

Jeddah also has what other cities do not: the Hajj and Umrah seasons. In these seasons the demand for shipping luggage and gifts multiplies, and truck movement on the roads to Makkah and the holy sites is regulated. So we arrange collection from visitors’ accommodation at hours that suit the group, and reserve the shipment’s place before the rush. Our office in the Al-Sharafiyah district receives anyone who prefers to drop off his shipment himself.

Sea container shipping from Jeddah Islamic Port to Alexandria and Sokhna

Sea container shipping from Jeddah Islamic Port to Alexandria and Sokhna in Egypt

When the shipment is a large home or heavy goods, a container becomes more suitable than the truck. The empty container comes to your address or to our warehouse, is filled and closed with a seal whose number is written in the documents, and then enters Jeddah Islamic Port. The destination is chosen by the consignee’s city: the port of Sokhna on the Gulf of Suez, about 120 km from Cairo, which a vessel from Jeddah reaches without passing through the Suez Canal; and the port of Alexandria, with Dekheila, on the Mediterranean, which the vessel reaches through the canal.

Arrival port Location Suits a consignee in
Sokhna Gulf of Suez, Red Sea Cairo, Giza, Suez and 10th of Ramadan City
Alexandria and Dekheila Mediterranean Alexandria, Beheira and the western Delta
Port Said Northern entrance of the Suez Canal Port Said, Ismailia and the eastern Delta
Damietta Mediterranean Damietta, Dakahlia and furniture traders

Some services between Jeddah and the Egyptian ports are direct and some change vessel at an intermediate port, so we confirm the available service and its duration before booking. Door-to-door time is normally 12–20 days. The container price is set on request. Container dimensions are on the container sizes page, and the service is detailed in the article on international sea freight from Jeddah.

A full container, a shared container or a shared truck?

The question we hear again and again: when do I leave the truck and order a container? The practical rule is that the shared truck suits anything less than a full load, because it moves sooner and delivers to the door. A container is ordered for a whole home and for goods sold wholesale. This is the difference between the three options:

Point of comparison Shared truck Shared container Full container
Suits Cartons, appliances and a room or two Commercial goods of a few cubic metres A whole home or wholesale goods
Price unit The carton, the piece or the volume The cubic metre The whole container
Transit time 7–12 days Longer, to allow for consolidation and unpacking 12–20 days
Handling One loading in Jeddah and one unloading in Egypt Loading and unloading at two warehouses Sealed in Jeddah and opened at the consignee’s premises
Clearance At the ferry port At the seaport At the seaport, and goods need a registered importer

Shipping pilgrims’ and Umrah visitors’ luggage and gifts from Jeddah to Egypt

Shipping pilgrims’ and Umrah visitors’ luggage and gifts from Jeddah to Egypt

The Egyptian visitor goes home with more than he brought: gifts for the family, dates, clothes and prayer rugs. The airline allowance is limited, and excess baggage at the airport is charged by the kilogram. The answer is to travel with your hand luggage and leave the rest to us. We collect from the accommodation in Jeddah or Makkah, weigh in front of you, wrap each bag tightly in film and put a number on it. The luggage reaches your home in Egypt a few days after you do.

What the visitor ships How we prepare it Note
Bags of clothes Tight wrap, a number and a label with the consignee’s name No cash, gold or passports inside
Dates Closed cartons kept away from heat Gift quantities pass easily; commercial quantities need their own paperwork
Prayer rugs, prayer beads and abayas Double-wall carton Their quantities are written on the list
Oil perfumes and incense Sealed bottles inside foam By truck, not by air
Toys and household items In their cartons, with the gaps filled One piece of each kind is easier at customs
Zamzam water Not shipped The traveller carries his dedicated pack with him

For group supervisors there is a consolidation service: we collect the whole group’s luggage at one appointment, number each piece with its owner’s name and governorate, and hand the supervisor a schedule of it. We advise handing over the luggage two days before travel, not on the night of departure.

Shipping furniture and bedrooms from Jeddah to Egypt

Someone who has finished working in Jeddah and wants to take his home with him starts with one question: what is worth shipping? We advise shipping good furniture and appliances in sound condition, and selling what has aged. Our team comes to the flat, dismantles the bedrooms and numbers their panels, and collects each piece’s screws in a bag fixed to it. Sofas and majlis seating are wrapped in blankets and then film, and mirrors, glass and chandeliers go into wooden crates. A complete bedroom starts from SAR 1,650, and the furniture of a three-room flat from SAR 4,150.

The move comes with the Home Safe guarantee that the furniture is kept safe from breakage and scratches while in our hands, backed by a photographed inventory before loading. Packing methods are on the packing guide page, and the rest of the service is on the furniture shipping page.

Shipping televisions, fridges and electrical appliances to Egypt

Appliances are what the Egyptian resident in Jeddah asks about most, because the city’s markets are wide and many items cost less. Shipping an appliance starts from SAR 92 per piece and rises with its size. But an appliance is also what Egyptian customs pauses over most, so write every appliance on the list with its type and condition, and do not duplicate one kind.

  • Televisions: in the original carton with its foam, or in a made-to-measure wooden crate, and loaded upright.
  • Fridges and freezers: unplugged, emptied and dried a day ahead, with the door and shelves secured.
  • Washing machines: drained, with the drum bolts locked where fitted.
  • Air conditioners: removed by a technician who preserves the gas, with the two units packed separately.
  • Small appliances: the blender, the iron and the vacuum cleaner go in cartons, with their number written down.
  • Electricity: Egypt runs on 220 volts, as is usual in Jeddah, but the socket shape differs, so you will need a plug adaptor.

Shipping cartons, bags and parcels

The carton is the simplest unit and the clearest in price, and most shipments to Egypt start with it. We supply cartons in three sizes, and deliver them to your home before collection day if you want to pack yourself:

Size Suits Price starts from
Medium Books, crockery, shoes and anything heavy SAR 140
Large Clothes, toys and kitchenware SAR 185
Jumbo Blankets, bedding and bulky light items SAR 230

Do not exceed 35 kilograms in one carton, so that the porter can carry it without the bottom giving way. Close every carton with wide tape on both sides, and write on its face a number matching its line on the list. Small parcels and papers have their own service on the parcel shipping page.

Shipping commercial goods from Jeddah to Egypt

The trader chooses between a truck on the ferry and a container from the port. The truck is faster and suits goods sold in Upper Egypt and on the Red Sea coast, while the container suits heavy goods and whatever enters through Sokhna or Alexandria. The price starts from SAR 2,580 per tonne. Before the goods move, the Egyptian importer registers them in the advance cargo registration system and obtains their number, and without that number they are not accepted. From Jeddah we prepare the invoice, the packing list and the certificate of origin. Details are on the commercial shipping page.

Car shipping from Jeddah to Egypt

This is a subject we speak about with caution. What is clearly available is for the owner of a Saudi car to enter Egypt with it temporarily under a triptik carnet, so that it crosses on the ferry and returns when the period ends. Permanent import and registration on Egyptian plates are governed by strict conditions on the year of manufacture and first ownership, and by schemes for Egyptians abroad that open and close. So we promise nobody that his car will be admitted before we have reviewed his case and the rule in force. The transport price is set on request. Transport methods are on the car shipping page.

Egyptian customs and clearance

Clearance takes place at the arrival port while the shipments are still on the truck, or at the seaport for a container. Egyptian rules on used effects are amended from time to time, so what we write here is current practice, and we confirm what applies to your case before shipping:

Item Usual treatment
Used clothes and personal effects The easiest items, treated leniently for a returnee
Used furniture Duty assessed by type and condition
One used appliance of each kind Regarded as personal use
New appliances in their boxes, or duplicates Charged, and many of them are treated as merchandise
New gifts Their exemption limit is small, and anything above it is assessed
Mobile phones Under a registration and fee system; not to be put in the shipment

Any duties and taxes that fall due are paid by the consignee and are not part of the freight charge. We tell you before loading what we expect, so that you are not surprised. The service is explained on the customs clearance page.

Documents required

The paperwork is light for a personal shipment and heavier for a commercial one. The most common mistake is writing the consignee’s name in short form or by his nickname, which holds up delivery. Write it as it is on the national ID card:

Type of shipment From the sender in Jeddah About the consignee in Egypt
A resident’s cartons, appliances and furniture Copy of the residence permit and passport, and a contents list Full four-part name, address and an Egyptian mobile number
A pilgrim’s or Umrah visitor’s luggage Copy of the passport and visa, and a contents list The traveller himself or a relative receiving for him
Effects of someone leaving for good The above, plus the final exit visa The owner of the shipment or his authorised agent
Commercial goods Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration Importer’s card and the advance registration number

Templates of these papers are on the shipping documents page.

What cannot be shipped from Jeddah to Egypt

Some items are banned in both countries, some are restricted by permit, and some should never be put in a shipment at all because their loss cannot be made good. Go through this list before you close the cartons:

Item Status
Zamzam water Not shipped
Weapons, ammunition, look-alikes and fireworks Prohibited
Medicines Personal quantities with the prescription only
Drones and radio equipment With a prior permit from the competent authority in Egypt
New phones Not to be put in the shipment
Flammable liquids and gas cylinders Prohibited
Gold, cash, passports and original certificates Carried by hand
Perishable food Will not last the journey

The general list is on the prohibited items page.

Delivery cities and governorates in Egypt

Delivering shipments from Jeddah in Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, Ismailia and Suez

After clearance the truck heads for the warehouse in Egypt, where the shipments are unloaded and sorted by city. Small vans then go out into the streets a truck cannot enter, and the agent rings the consignee before arriving. The time in the table is added after the shipment reaches the warehouse:

Area Its cities Distribution time
Greater Cairo Cairo, Giza, 6th of October, Shubra El Kheima and Banha 1–2 days
Alexandria and the western Delta Alexandria, Kafr El Dawwar, Rashid, Damanhour and El Alamein 2–3 days
The Canal cities Port Said, Ismailia, Suez and Ain Sokhna 2–3 days
The Delta Tanta, El Mahalla El Kubra, Mansoura, Zagazig, Shibin El Kom, Desouk, Kafr El Sheikh and Damietta 2–3 days
Northern Upper Egypt Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Mallawi and Abu Qurqas 2–4 days
Upper Egypt Assiut, Dairut, Abu Tig, Sohag, Akhmim, Qena, Nag Hammadi, Qus, Luxor, Esna, Edfu and Aswan 3–5 days
The Red Sea Hurghada, Safaga and Ras Gharib 2–4 days
Sinai and the outlying areas Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, Taba, El Tor, Ras Sudr, Saint Catherine, Arish, Kharga and Salloum Agreed when you book

Delivery is to the door of the building, and carrying heavy pieces to upper floors is agreed in advance. The rest of the destination information is on the shipping to Egypt page.

Door-to-door service: for individuals, companies and pilgrim groups

Door to door means you do not go to a port and the consignee does not stand in a queue. Our agent comes in his vehicle to your address in Jeddah, collects, packs and moves the goods to the warehouse. We then handle the loading, the ferry, the clearance and the distribution. We offer the same service in three forms:

  • For individuals and families: collection from home, priced by the carton, the piece or the volume.
  • For companies and factories: full trucks or containers on a regular schedule, with a tax invoice in the establishment’s name.
  • For Hajj and Umrah groups: a single collection from the group’s accommodation, with a schedule naming the owners of the luggage.

The service is explained on the door to door page.

Air freight from Jeddah to Egypt

Air freight from Jeddah to Egypt

There are many flights between Jeddah and Cairo every day, and Borg El Arab airport serves Alexandria. An air parcel therefore reaches the consignee’s door in 3–6 days, and most of that time goes on clearance and distribution rather than flying. Air freight is charged on the chargeable weight, which is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, so it does not suit furniture or a large number of cartons.

Point of comparison Air freight Truck on the ferry
Time to the door 3–6 days 7–12 days
Price unit The chargeable kilogram The carton, the piece or the volume
Suits Documents, personal medicines, light parcels and urgent luggage Anything heavy or bulky
Not accepted Perfumes, aerosols, loose batteries and liquids The general prohibited items only
Starting price SAR 55 for documents; the rate per kilo is set on request SAR 140 per carton

Work out the chargeable weight of your parcel with the volumetric weight calculator before you decide. Airport services are covered in the article on the air freight office in Jeddah and on the air freight page.

Collection from Jeddah’s districts and nearby cities

We collect from every district of Jeddah at a time you choose between seven in the morning and eleven at night. The old districts with narrow lanes are entered by a small vehicle that shuttles to the truck. From outside Jeddah we collect by prior appointment, and the shipment is moved to the consolidation warehouse:

Zone Districts or cities How we collect
Central Jeddah Al-Sharafiyah, Al-Balad, Al-Kandarah, Bani Malik, Al-Baghdadiyah and Al-Aziziyah Small vehicle, usually the same day
North Jeddah As-Salamah, Ar-Rawdah, Az-Zahra, An-Naeem, Al-Mohammadiyah and Obhur Appointment the next day
East and south Jeddah As-Safa, Al-Marwah, As-Samer, Al-Jamiah, As-Sanabel and Al-Khumrah Appointment the next day
Makkah and Bahrah Hotels of the central area, Al-Aziziyah and Ash-Shawqiyah Small vehicle, according to truck-entry hours
Taif, Rabigh, Thuwal and Al-Lith From the home or the shop Prior appointment, with a transfer charge to Jeddah
Madinah and Yanbu From the home or the hotel Prior appointment, with a transfer charge to Jeddah

The other cities of the Kingdom we collect from are on the cities page.

Steps for shipping from Jeddah to Egypt

  1. You send the details: photographs or a list of what you are shipping, and the consignee’s governorate, on WhatsApp.
  2. We suggest the method: truck, container or air, with the starting price and what it covers.
  3. You set the collection appointment: from your home, hotel or shop.
  4. We collect: weighing and measuring in front of you, packing, and a number on every piece.
  5. You sign the contents list: and take a copy of it with the receipt.
  6. The truck sets off: to Duba, the ferry and the arrival port, and you receive notices at each stage.
  7. Clearance and warehouse: inspection, then unloading and sorting by city.
  8. Delivery: a small van to the door, and the pieces checked against their numbers before signing.

Packing suited to a journey with a sea crossing and two warehouses

A shipment to Egypt is loaded once in Jeddah, unloaded once at the Egyptian warehouse and then lifted a third time onto the delivery van. Packing is planned for those three handlings and for the humidity of the coast. We use double-wall cartons, tight film that keeps out dust and damp, cardboard corners for wood, and wooden crates for glass and televisions. Every piece carries its number and the consignee’s name and governorate, so that nothing gets mixed up at sorting. Securing methods are on the packing and lashing page.

Tracking and insurance

A ferry truck has no automatic tracking number of the kind express couriers give, so we make up for it with WhatsApp notices at five points: leaving Jeddah, boarding the ferry, clearance completed, entering the warehouse and the delivery van setting off. A container and an air parcel each have a number that can be followed on the carrier’s website. Insurance is optional, with a premium set as a percentage of the value you declare. More on the tracking and cargo insurance pages.

Shipping from Egypt to Jeddah

The same route works in the opposite direction. Someone coming to work in Jeddah sends his effects and books, a trader imports his goods, and a family sends its son what he needs. The shipment is gathered at the warehouse in Egypt, the truck crosses on the ferry to the Saudi port, and clearance takes place there. Food, medicines and cosmetics are subject to the requirements of the competent Saudi authorities, so ask us about them before sending. The price is set on request.

Tips before shipping from Jeddah to Egypt

  • Start packing a week before your travel date, and hand over the shipment at least two days before you leave.
  • Give every carton a line on the list: its number and what is in it, with no “miscellaneous items”.
  • Give us an Egyptian mobile number answered by someone who is in the governorate, not your Saudi number.
  • Photograph appliances and furniture before packing, and keep the photographs until you take delivery.
  • Do not leave shipping to the last week of the Hajj season if you have a deadline in Egypt.

How do you choose a shipping company from Jeddah to Egypt?

In the districts of central Jeddah many offices put up a sign for shipping to Egypt, and some of them pass on what they collect to someone else. The difference between one office and another shows in the paperwork you take away on collection day, and in its answer when you ask about customs and distribution inside Egypt:

What you ask about The reassuring answer What calls for caution
The office’s standing Commercial registration, a fixed address and a receipt in the establishment’s name A mobile number on a slip of paper and a transfer to an individual’s account
Weighing and measuring In front of you, and written on the receipt “We will weigh it at the store and let you know”
The shipment’s route He names the port, the ferry and the warehouse He says “direct by road” and never mentions a ferry
Where the price ends He states where it stops: port, warehouse or door A single figure with no breakdown
Customs He reviews your list and estimates what to expect He promises no duty on anything
Delivery in Egypt An agent rings the consignee and delivers to the door “Collect it from the truck park”

A wider comparison of the city’s offices is in the article on international shipping companies in Jeddah.

Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Egypt

  • Handing over luggage on the night of travel, then leaving before it is weighed and the receipt is issued.
  • Putting a new phone, an expensive watch or jewellery among the clothes.
  • Buying three appliances of the same kind and writing them down as “personal use”.
  • Packing Zamzam bottles in the gift carton, so the carton is opened and repacked.
  • Writing the consignee’s name as the nickname he is known by in the village, not his name on the ID card.
  • Comparing a price to the door with a price to the port as though they were the same offer.
  • Leaving the fridge running until the hour of collection, so it is loaded wet and goes mouldy on the way.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Jeddah to Egypt

How much does shipping from Jeddah to Egypt cost?

On the shared truck, a medium carton starts from SAR 140, an electrical appliance from SAR 92 per piece, a dismantled bedroom from SAR 1,650 and the furniture of a three-room flat from SAR 4,150. An air document envelope starts from SAR 55. A container, a dedicated truck and the air rate per kilo are set on request, once we know the volume and the governorate. Message us on 0552803439.

How long does a shipment take from Jeddah to the door in Egypt?

By truck and ferry, 7 to 12 days, which covers waiting for the truck to fill, the ferry sailing, clearance and distribution. By container from Jeddah Islamic Port, 12 to 20 days. By air, 3 to 6 days. The governorates of Upper Egypt and Sinai take a few days longer than Cairo.

Does the truck drive overland from Jeddah to Egypt?

There is no continuous road between the two countries, because the Red Sea lies between them. The truck follows the coast north to the port of Duba, drives onto the ferry with its full load, comes off at Safaga, Nuweiba or Hurghada and carries on inside Egypt. It is a road journey with a short sea crossing in the middle.

Can a container be shipped from Jeddah port to Alexandria or Sokhna?

Yes. The container is 20ft or 40ft, and it is filled and sealed in Jeddah before it enters the port. Sokhna is the Egyptian port closest to Cairo and the vessel does not need to pass through the Suez Canal to reach it, while Alexandria serves the north of the country. The container price is set on request because it follows the shipping line’s rate on the day of booking.

I am an Umrah visitor with excess luggage. Do you collect from the hotel?

Yes, we collect from a hotel, a furnished flat or a group’s accommodation in Jeddah and Makkah. The agent weighs the bags and cartons in front of you, wraps and numbers them, and hands you a receipt listing every piece. Give us the consignee’s name in Egypt as it appears on his ID card, his address and an Egyptian mobile number.

Do you ship Zamzam water to Egypt?

No. Zamzam water is not accepted as cargo, and what a traveller may take is the dedicated pack he carries on his own journey. The other usual gifts, such as dates, prayer rugs, prayer beads and clothing, are shipped with a clear contents list.

Will I pay customs duty on my used furniture in Egypt?

In current practice, a returnee’s used personal effects are treated leniently, used furniture is assessed according to its type and condition, and new or duplicate appliances are charged. Egyptian rules change often, so we review your list and confirm what is in force before loading. Any duty that falls due is not part of the freight charge.

Should I put a new mobile phone in the carton?

Do not. Phones arriving in Egypt come under a separate registration and fee system, and a new phone inside a carton of clothes holds up the whole carton at inspection. Carry your phone with you, and ask about the rule in force before you travel.

How much does it cost to ship a television or a fridge from Jeddah to Egypt?

Shipping an electrical appliance starts from SAR 92 per piece and rises with its size after packing. A television needs its original carton or a wooden crate, and a fridge is emptied and dried the day before collection. Customs duty on the appliance is assessed in Egypt and is not included in this price.

Do you ship my car from Jeddah to Egypt?

A Saudi car enters Egypt with its owner on a temporary basis under a triptik carnet, and crosses on the ferry. Bringing it in permanently and registering it on Egyptian plates is restricted by strict conditions on the year of manufacture and ownership, and we do not promise it before reviewing your case. The price for moving a car is set on request.

What documents are needed to ship from Jeddah to Egypt?

From the sender, a copy of the residence permit or ID and the passport, and a detailed contents list. An Umrah visitor needs only his passport and visa. For the consignee: his name as on the national ID card, his address and an Egyptian mobile number. Commercial goods need an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin, plus the advance registration number obtained by the Egyptian importer.

Do you deliver to Upper Egypt, Sinai and the Canal cities?

Yes. The Canal cities, Port Said, Ismailia and Suez, are delivered within 2 to 3 days of the shipment reaching the warehouse. Upper Egypt as far as Aswan takes 3 to 5 days. The two Sinai governorates, the New Valley and Salloum are scheduled when you book.

How long does air freight from Jeddah to Egypt take, and what does it cost?

Three to 6 days to the consignee’s door in Cairo and Alexandria, and longer in the other governorates. A document envelope starts from SAR 55, and the rate per kilo for parcels and luggage is set on request according to the chargeable weight. It suits a light, urgent parcel, not furniture.

Do you collect from Makkah, Taif and Madinah?

Yes. We collect from Makkah, Bahrah, Thuwal, Rabigh, Taif and Al-Lith, and from Madinah and Yanbu by prior appointment. The shipment is moved to the consolidation warehouse in Jeddah and takes its place on the next truck. The transfer between cities is added as a separate line on the invoice.

How do I follow my shipment, and is it insured?

You receive a WhatsApp notice at every stage: the truck leaving Jeddah, boarding the ferry, clearance completed, arrival at the warehouse and the delivery van setting off. Insurance is optional, with a premium calculated on the declared value, and we advise it for appliances and expensive furniture. Photographs of the pieces before packing, with the inventory, support any claim.
