Who ships from Riyadh to Egypt, and what do they ship?
Egyptians are one of the largest resident communities in Riyadh, working in teaching, medicine, engineering, contracting, accounting and trade. So this line never goes quiet during the year: a resident sending cartons to his family before Eid, a family whose luggage goes ahead of them before the summer holiday, and a final-exit returnee taking what he gathered over the years. Most of what leaves the capital is cartons and household appliances, followed by furniture and then traders’ goods.
| Sender | What they usually send | What suits them |
|---|---|---|
| A resident sending to family | Cartons of clothes, kitchenware and gifts | Shared shipping by the carton |
| A family going home on leave | Suitcases, cartons and an appliance or two | A shared load that leaves before they travel |
| A final-exit returnee | Appliances, bedrooms and a home’s furniture | Shared by the cubic metre, or a dedicated truck for a whole house |
| A groom furnishing his home | Appliances, electrical goods and furnishings | Shared, with a precise list of the appliances |
| A trader or factory | Goods, materials and spare parts | A full truck or a sea container |
| Someone with an urgent parcel | Papers, personal medicine and a small item | Air freight |
The three shipping services from Riyadh to Egypt: land, sea and air
Three methods link Riyadh with Egypt, and each has the shipment it suits. The road route with the ferry is the main one, and most cartons, appliances and furniture travel on it. The sea container is for heavy cargo and commercial volumes. The aircraft is for whatever cannot wait two weeks. The choice between them does not rest on speed alone, but on volume, weight, and what your budget and your date allow.
| Method | Time to the door | Suits | Its drawback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Land with the ferry | 9–14 days | Cartons, appliances, furniture and effects | Tied to the ferry sailing and the truck filling |
| Sea in containers | 12–20 days from the port, plus moving the container from Riyadh | Commercial goods and heavy loads | Not suited to a few cartons |
| Air | 3–6 days | Parcels, papers and urgent luggage | Charged by the kilogram, so it gets dear with weight |
The land method is explained stage by stage in the article on land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt, and the overall picture for every city in the Kingdom is in the article on shipping from Saudi Arabia to Egypt.
From Riyadh by road to the Red Sea port, then the ferry to Egypt
There is no continuous dry road between the Kingdom and Egypt: the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea lie between them. So the Riyadh truck does not finish its trip on tarmac alone. It crosses the Kingdom from its centre to its north-west as far as Duba port on the coast of the Tabuk region, and there it drives onto the ferry with its load locked. The distance from Riyadh to Duba is long, more than 1,400 km on the usual road through Qassim, Hail and Tabuk, and the driver covers it in about two days.

The ferry from Duba docks at Safaga, the busiest line for trucks, or at Hurghada when a sailing is run there. The truck has a second route: it enters Jordan through the Durra border post to Aqaba port, and crosses from there to Nuweiba in Sinai. It may also sail from Jeddah port when that fits the date better. We choose the port according to the sailings available in the week of shipping and the delivery governorate, so we do not promise you a particular port or a fixed ferry timetable, because sailings change with the seasons and the state of the sea.
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and consolidation in Riyadh | Weighing, numbering and sorting by governorate until the truck is full | Two to 5 days |
| Riyadh → Duba port | By road through Qassim, Hail and Tabuk | About two days |
| Export formalities and waiting for the ferry | Saudi clearance and booking the truck’s place | One to two days |
| Crossing the Red Sea | The whole truck on the ferry’s deck | Hours, depending on the ferry type and the line |
| The Egyptian arrival port | Inspection and clearance with the load on the truck | One to 3 days |
| The road to the warehouse in Egypt | Unloading and sorting by address | A day |
| Distribution to the doors | Small vehicles to each governorate | One to 5 days |
What this arrangement gives the owner of a carton is that his things are not lifted by cranes or stacked in a ship’s hold. They stay in place inside the truck from the moment it leaves Riyadh until it stops at the warehouse in Egypt, and every handling that is cut out is one less chance of breakage.
How long does shipping from Riyadh to Egypt take, and what lengthens it?
Riyadh is the furthest of the big cities from the Red Sea coast, so its road adds a day or two to Jeddah’s. The time we quote, 9 to 14 days, is counted from the day of collection to the day of delivery, not from the day the truck moves. Anyone who hears a much shorter figure should ask: does it count the wait for consolidation, the ferry and customs, or only the driving hours?
| Delivery destination | Usual time from Riyadh to the door |
|---|---|
| Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia | 9–12 days |
| Alexandria, the Delta and the Canal cities | 10–13 days |
| Fayoum, Beni Suef and Minya | 10–13 days |
| Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan | 11–14 days |
- Peak seasons: in the weeks before the two Eids and at the start of the summer holiday the whole line is crowded.
- The ferry sailing: a sailing delayed by rough sea or a congested port delays everything on board.
- An incomplete list: one unlisted item opens the door to a longer inspection of the whole truck.
- New appliances in quantity: they are moved to the commercial-goods track and its documents.
- An incomplete address or a number nobody answers: the shipment stays in the warehouse until its owner is found.
Shipping prices from Riyadh to Egypt
Our prices from Riyadh start as in the table, and they are for shared shipping on the truck and ferry. The final price is worked out once we know exactly what you are shipping and to which governorate, and whether you want dismantling and packing at home. Send a list or photos to 0552803439 and the reply comes back itemised.
| What you ship | Unit of charge | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Medium carton | Per carton | Starts from SAR 140 |
| Large carton | Per carton | Starts from SAR 185 |
| Jumbo carton | Per carton | Starts from SAR 230 |
| Electrical appliance | Per piece, by size | Starts from SAR 92 |
| Complete bedroom, dismantled and wrapped | Per room | Starts from SAR 1,650 |
| Furniture of a three-room flat | Per shipment | Starts from SAR 4,150 |
| Commercial goods | Per tonne | Starts from SAR 2,580 |
| Documents by express air | Per envelope | Starts from SAR 55 |
| Furniture by the cubic metre, a dedicated truck, a sea container, air freight per kilo, and a car | By shipment | Set on request |
The prices circulating in the market for this line, as we found them published: a medium carton SAR 150, a large one SAR 200 and a jumbo SAR 250; an electrical appliance from SAR 100 per piece; a bedroom about SAR 1,800; and a personal parcel door to door from SAR 150. Per-kilogram prices are published for clothes and kitchenware starting from SAR 3, and for air freight SAR 50 for the first kilogram then SAR 20 for each kilogram after it. Many of these figures do not say whether clearance and delivery to the governorate are included, so compare offers on what they cover, not on the first number.
The price tables in their three units, and how much of the truck each item takes up, are in the article on furniture shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Egypt.
What sets the price, and how do you cut the cost?
The figure you receive is built on the volume of what you ship before its weight, because the truck fills by space before it reaches its payload. Then come the distance of your governorate from the warehouse, the kind of items, and the service you ask for at your home in Riyadh. Knowing these factors gives you real tools for bringing the bill down.
| Factor | How it affects the price |
|---|---|
| Total volume | The more cubic metres, the lower the price of each one |
| Delivery governorate | Cairo and Giza cost less than the far south of Upper Egypt |
| Electrical appliances | They raise the duties to expect on arrival |
| Dismantling and packing at home | A separate item added if you ask for it |
| Season | Demand rises before the Eids and in summer |
| Shared or dedicated | Shared is cheaper; dedicated is faster and dearer |
- Dismantle whatever can be dismantled: a standing wardrobe holds air that you pay for.
- Fill the carton to its brim: a half-empty carton buckles and is charged in full.
- Use the inside of appliances: the washing machine and the oven take towels and clothes.
- Share with a relative or colleague shipping to the same governorate, so the volume grows and the unit price drops.
- Get ahead of the season by two weeks or wait until it has passed.
- Leave the cheap, heavy piece behind: some old furniture costs more to ship than to replace in Egypt.
To estimate your shipment’s volume before calling, use the volume calculator; the other factors are explained on the how shipping costs are calculated page.
What is particular about shipping from Riyadh?
Riyadh is an inland city with no sea, and the nearest ferry to Egypt is more than a thousand kilometres away. That makes consolidation in the capital a stage that matters: a truck does not set off half empty on a road this long, so shipments are gathered and arranged by governorate before it is locked. On the other hand, the number of senders in Riyadh means trucks fill quickly, and they normally leave every week.
- The size of the city: Riyadh sprawls, so we arrange collection by area and day, and give you a time window for the courier.
- Truck entry hours: large trucks have regulated hours inside the capital, so collection from homes is by smaller vehicles.
- Blocks of flats and upper floors: we ask about the lift and the floor in advance so that enough workers come.
- An airport in the city: King Khalid International Airport serves urgent parcels with daily flights to Cairo.
- Containers: Riyadh has no port, so the container goes to Jeddah port by truck.
The rest of what we offer in the capital for every destination is in the article on the international shipping company in Riyadh.
Consolidating cartons, appliances and personal effects in Riyadh
Most shipments on this line are small: five cartons from one sender, a fridge and a washing machine from another, two suitcases from a third. Shared shipping was designed for exactly this kind. The courier comes to your home in Riyadh, weighs every piece in front of you and sticks a number on it, and writes the numbers on a receipt of which you keep a copy. By these numbers your things are told apart among hundreds of pieces in the truck, and by them they are checked at delivery in Egypt.

- Carton sizes: medium, large and jumbo, and we bring them to you empty if you ask.
- Prices: medium from SAR 140, large from SAR 185, jumbo from SAR 230, and the price of each falls as the number rises.
- Carton weight: do not go above 35 kg; anything more wears out the carrier and tears the base.
- Suitcases: wrapped tightly in plastic film and numbered like the cartons.
- The consignee’s name: written clearly on every piece with the governorate and the Egyptian mobile number.
- What stays out of the carton: gold, cash, passports, certificates and new mobile phones.
The list of contents is the paper that travels with the shipment to customs. Write what is in each carton in specific words: “used clothes, kitchenware, children’s toys”, not “personal things”. A precise description shortens inspection, and a vague one invites it. How to prepare small parcels is on the parcel shipping page.
Moving furniture and bedrooms from Riyadh to Egypt
Furniture needs work at home before it goes on the truck. A road of more than 1,400 km, then a ferry, then an Egyptian road to the governorate: a standing wardrobe or an unprotected mirror does not survive a trip like that. So we dismantle the large pieces and number their panels, and gather each piece’s screws in a bag fixed to it, so that whoever assembles it in Egypt knows where every panel goes.
- Bedrooms: dismantled, with the panels wrapped in corrugated cardboard; a complete room starts from SAR 1,650.
- A flat’s furniture: a three-room flat starts from SAR 4,150 as a shared load.
- Sofas and majlis seating: blankets, then bubble wrap, with the corners and legs reinforced.
- Mattresses: sealed bags that protect them from dust and damp at the port.
- Glass, chandeliers and mirrors: foam, then a wooden crate made to measure.
- Carpets: rolled and covered in polythene, and charged by volume, not by the number of pieces.
A whole house deserves a survey visit or a video call before pricing, because a telephone estimate is often wrong for furniture. The service is detailed on the furniture shipping page.
Shipping electrical appliances and screens
Appliances are what a resident is keenest to send, and what customs stops at most. Shipping an appliance starts from SAR 92 per piece and rises with size, and that is the transport charge only. What Egyptian customs assesses on the appliance is another item paid there, and it differs between a single used appliance and new ones in their boxes.
| Appliance | Preparing it before collection | Packing it |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge and freezer | Unplugged, emptied and dried a full day ahead | Foam on the corners and reinforced cardboard; carried upright |
| Washing machine | Water drained and the drum fixed with the transit bolts | Corrugated cardboard and film |
| Split air conditioner | Dismantled by a technician after pumping the gas down into the outdoor unit | Each unit in its carton, with the pipes coiled |
| Screen | Photographed while working | Its original carton or a wooden crate, upright |
| Oven and cooker | Racks and burners removed and wrapped separately | Cardboard and foam corners |
| Small appliances | Their accessories gathered with them | Inside numbered cartons |
The mains voltage in Egypt is 220 volts at a frequency of 50 hertz, and the frequency in the Kingdom is 60 hertz. Appliances whose label reads 50/60 work in both countries. Check the label of the air conditioner and the washing machine before shipping them, and allow for the different socket.
Shared shipping or a dedicated truck?
Two things settle the question: how many cubic metres your shipment takes, and whether you are tied to a date. Someone with cartons, a room and a few appliances does not need a truck to himself, and someone emptying a whole villa will not be comfortable in a shared load. Between the two lies a middle ground that we work out with you in figures before you decide.
| Point of comparison | Shared shipping | Dedicated truck |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | Cartons, appliances and a room or two | A whole house or a trader’s goods |
| How it is charged | By the carton, the piece or the cubic metre | One price for the truck, set on request |
| Day of departure | When the truck is full | The day you choose |
| Time from Riyadh | 9–14 days | Shorter by the consolidation days |
| Delivery | From the warehouse by small vehicle | Straight to the address where the road allows |
Shipping commercial goods from Riyadh to Egypt
A trader or factory in Riyadh ships to Egypt by truck on the ferry or by container at sea, and the price for commercial goods starts from SAR 2,580 per tonne. The difference between a commercial and a personal shipment is not in the truck but in the paperwork: the Egyptian importer registers the shipment in advance in the customs system there and obtains its registration number before it leaves the Kingdom. A shipment that moves without that number is held up at the arrival port.
- What is shipped: foodstuffs, plastic products, building materials, spare parts and equipment.
- Units: pallets within a shared truck, a full truck, or a container.
- Documents: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration.
- Products of Saudi origin: the certificate of origin opens preferential treatment between the two countries for them once its conditions are met.
The conditions for each item and how its file is prepared are on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping from Riyadh to Egypt
This is the item that most needs plain speaking. Egypt restricts the entry of used cars very tightly, and its rules change by decision. What happens in practice is that the owner of a Saudi car takes it in on temporary admission, accompanies it himself on the ferry with the customs carnet, and brings it back before the period ends.
- Temporary admission: it needs a triptik carnet, valid registration and the owner’s presence.
- Permanent import: schemes for Egyptians abroad are opened from time to time, with set conditions on the car’s age and the method of payment, and then closed. We confirm what is in force before any step and do not promise what is not ours to give.
- Price: set on request once the type of car and its way of entry are known.
The ways of moving cars in general are on the car shipping page.
Egyptian customs: what counts as personal effects and what counts as goods
Clearance takes place at the arrival port, Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba, with the load still on the truck. The rule behind the customs view is simple: are these a family’s belongings or goods for sale? The practice in force is that a shipment is accepted as personal effects if it is in the name of a natural person, in quantities that suit personal or family use, and its appliances are of the household kind. The rules here change, so we confirm those in force before your shipment.
| Item | The usual customs view |
|---|---|
| Used clothes, kitchenware and belongings | The easiest items to pass |
| Used furniture | Duties assessed by type and condition |
| One household appliance of each kind | Treated as personal use, with duties assessed |
| New appliances in their boxes, or duplicates | Examined closely, and may be moved to commercial goods |
| Mobile phones | They have a separate registration and fee system, so they are not shipped |
| Effects following their owner after his return | The practice is that they arrive within a set period of his entry, and his passport proves the entry date |
A final-exit returnee whose effects follow him must watch the deadline: the practice in force is that the shipment arrives within a few months of the date he enters Egypt, extendable for an accepted reason. So do not put off shipping for months after you travel. We go through your list before loading and tell you what duties to expect, so that no amount surprises you at the door. Clearance procedures in general are on the customs clearance page.
Documents required for shipping from Riyadh to Egypt
A personal shipment needs few papers, but one missing paper stops a whole carton. We ask for them as photos over WhatsApp before collection day, and check that the names in them match: the consignee’s name must be written as it is on the national ID card, letter for letter.
| Type of shipment | From the sender in Riyadh | For the consignee in Egypt |
|---|---|---|
| Cartons, appliances and furniture | Copy of the residence permit and passport, and a detailed list of contents | The name as on the ID card, the address with governorate and district, and an Egyptian mobile number |
| Effects of a final-exit returnee | The above, plus the final exit visa | The owner himself, or an agent holding a power of attorney |
| Commercial goods | Invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and commercial registration | Importer’s card and the shipment’s advance registration number |
| A car on temporary admission | Registration, customs carnet and driving licence | The owner himself accompanies it |
Samples of these papers and their explanation are on the shipping documents page.
What cannot be shipped to Egypt, or is restricted
Some items are banned in all international shipping, and some are restricted in Egypt in particular. One such item in a carton does not harm its owner alone; it delays the truck and everyone on it. So ask about anything you doubt before you close the carton.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited |
| Flammable materials and compressed gases | Prohibited |
| Medicines | A personal quantity, with the prescription |
| Drones, radio equipment and trackers | Need a prior permit in Egypt |
| New mobile phones | Not to be put in the shipment |
| Counterfeit goods | Confiscated |
| Perishable food | Does not last the length of the trip |
| Gold, cash and original documents | Carried by hand when travelling |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Delivering shipments from Riyadh in Cairo, Giza, Assiut and Sohag
The truck does not go round the houses. After clearance it heads for the warehouse in Egypt, where its load is taken off and sorted by governorate. Small vehicles then go out, entering streets a truck cannot, and stop in front of the block or the house. Safaga port is close to Upper Egypt: its road to Qena reaches the Nile valley directly, and from there Sohag and Assiut lie to the north and Luxor and Aswan to the south.

| Region | Its cities and governorates | Added after the warehouse |
|---|---|---|
| Greater Cairo | Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia | 1–2 days |
| Alexandria and the western Delta | Alexandria and Beheira | 2–3 days |
| The Delta | Gharbia, Dakahlia, Sharqia, Monufia, Kafr El Sheikh and Damietta | 2–3 days |
| The Canal cities | Suez, Ismailia and Port Said | 2–3 days |
| Northern Upper Egypt | Fayoum, Beni Suef and Minya | 2–4 days |
| Upper Egypt | Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan | 3–5 days |
The courier in Egypt rings before he arrives, which is why we insist on an Egyptian mobile number that someone in the household answers. Delivery is to the door of the building, and carrying up to upper floors is agreed at booking, not at the door. On receipt, the numbers stuck on the pieces are checked against the Riyadh receipt one by one. The destination’s cities and details are on the shipping to Egypt page.
Sea freight in containers from Riyadh to Egypt
The sea container is the choice of a trader with a heavy load, not of someone with cartons. The container is loaded in Riyadh and trucked to Jeddah Islamic Port, from where it sails north up the Red Sea to Sokhna port on the Gulf of Suez, or passes through the Suez Canal to Alexandria or Port Said. The sailing itself is short, but vessel schedules and the procedures at both ports usually make the time 12 to 20 days from the port, plus moving the container from Riyadh.
- Full container: 20 or 40 feet for one trader’s goods, sealed in Riyadh.
- Part load: for those whose goods do not fill a container, charged by the cubic metre.
- Price: set on request according to the port and the kind of goods.
Container dimensions are on the container sizes page, and the service on the sea freight page.
Air freight from Riyadh to Egypt
When the shipment cannot wait two weeks, the aircraft is the answer. The parcel is handed over at King Khalid International Airport, flies to Cairo International Airport, and reaches the consignee’s hands in Cairo within 3 to 6 days including clearance. Flights between the two capitals are daily, and the flying time is under three hours. But the aircraft charges by the kilogram, so it does not suit a washing machine or a bedroom.

| What goes by air | Note |
|---|---|
| Documents and papers | Express, starting from SAR 55 |
| Parcels and urgent luggage | The per-kilogram price is set on request |
| Personal medicine | A limited quantity, with the prescription |
| Spare parts and commercial samples | With an invoice and a statement of contents |
| What is not carried by air | Loose batteries, aerosols and perfumes in quantity |
Airlines charge on the greater of two weights: the actual weight and the volumetric weight. A light, roomy carton may be charged at twice its weight. Work out the chargeable weight with the volumetric weight calculator before you decide. Air delivery outside Cairo is possible, and its time grows with the governorate. The service is detailed on the air freight page, and what we offer from the capital is in the article on air freight in Riyadh.
Collection from Riyadh’s districts and nearby towns
You do not need to carry your cartons anywhere. The courier comes to your door at the agreed time with the scales, the labels and the collection receipt. In districts where many people send to Egypt we gather several addresses in one round, which shortens the wait.
| Area | Some of its districts |
|---|---|
| North Riyadh | Olaya, Al-Malqa, Al-Yasmin, An-Narjis, As-Sahafa and Al-Aqiq |
| East Riyadh | An-Nasim, Ar-Rawdah, Ar-Rawabi, Ar-Rayyan, Al-Yarmuk and Ishbiliyah |
| Central Riyadh | Al-Batha, Al-Malaz, Al-Murabba, Ash-Shumaisi and Manfuhah |
| South Riyadh | Al-Aziziyah, Ash-Shifa, Badr, Ad-Dar Al-Baida and Al-Hazm |
| West Riyadh | As-Suwaidi, Al-Uraija, Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq and Namar |
| Around Riyadh | Diriyah, Al-Kharj, Al-Muzahimiyah and Huraymila |
Collection from the towns around the capital is arranged on set days of the week, so book early if you are in Al-Kharj or Al-Muzahimiyah. Anyone who travels before his shipment is complete can leave his things with us, wrapped and numbered, until the truck’s date. The service is on the storage page.
Steps for shipping from Riyadh to Egypt
- You send the details: what you are shipping and how many, your district in Riyadh, and the consignee’s governorate and district.
- The price reaches you: with its unit, and what it does and does not include.
- We review the list: we point out what is likely to pay duty or should not be shipped.
- Collection from home: every piece weighed and numbered, what needs it packed, and a receipt with the numbers.
- Consolidation: your shipment is sorted with those for its governorate, and the truck is loaded and locked.
- The road and the ferry: to the Red Sea port, then the whole truck crosses.
- Clearance: at the Egyptian arrival port, before customs.
- Delivery: from the warehouse by small vehicle to the door, with the numbers checked.
Tracking, insurance and customer service
Two weeks is long enough for the owner of a shipment to worry, especially as his family in Egypt ask him every day. So we update you at every real milestone: the truck filling and leaving Riyadh, its arrival at the port, its crossing, the end of its clearance, and then the distribution vehicle leaving for your governorate. We answer calls and WhatsApp from 7 am to 11 pm.
- Tracking: by the shipment number written on your receipt. The service is on the shipment tracking page.
- If there is a delay: we tell you the actual reason and where the truck is standing, whether it is a ferry sailing or a longer inspection, and give you the new date once it is clear.
- Insurance: we do not impose it. Anyone who wants it declares what the shipment is worth and pays a share of that figure, and on the Egypt truck the screen and the new fridge are the first things worth covering. Read what it covers on the cargo insurance page.
- Booking terms: written in the booking confirmation you receive, including those on changes and cancellation.
Packing that suits the truck-and-ferry trip
A carton on this line has to take the vibration of a long road, the weight of what is stacked on it, the damp of the port, and then a last leg in a small vehicle. A thin grocery carton does not finish that trip. Choose a double-wall corrugated carton, seal its base with two crossed strips of tape, and fill its gaps so that the contents do not move.
| Item | What protects it |
|---|---|
| Clothes and furnishings | Sealed bags inside the carton to keep out damp |
| Plates and cups | Paper round every piece, stacked on edge, not flat |
| Perfumes and permitted liquids | Closed bags, with the caps taped down |
| Small appliances | The original box, or foam on every side |
| Children’s toys and bicycles | Handlebars and pedals removed and wrapped |
Packing methods for each item are on the packing guide page.
Shipping from Egypt to Riyadh
The same line works on the way back. The shipment is collected in Egypt, the truck is loaded and crosses on the ferry to the Saudi coast, then carries on by road to Riyadh and delivers in the district. Most of what comes this way is the effects of newcomers arriving for work, and furnishings and household things. What enters the Kingdom is subject to Saudi customs regulations and its requirements for food and medicine, so we check the items before they are loaded.
Tips before shipping from Riyadh to Egypt
- Start packing three weeks before your travel date, so that what you shipped arrives close to your own arrival.
- Write the consignee’s name and governorate on two sides of every carton with a broad marker.
- Photograph the cartons open before sealing them, and keep the photos with the collection receipt.
- Choose a consignee who is actually at the house, not a relative living in another governorate.
- Do not mix two families’ things in one carton, or sorting at delivery becomes difficult.
- Give your family in Egypt the shipment number and the expected time.
How do you choose a shipping company from Riyadh to Egypt?
There are more offers to Egypt than on any other line in Riyadh, and many of them are a mobile number in an advert. The comparison turns on three things: the cost with what it covers, an honest transit time, and a reputation proved by papers rather than talk. Read the experiences of those who went before you, ask for the commercial registration, and compare two or three offers on the same items.
| What you ask about | What reassures | What worries |
|---|---|---|
| Legal standing | Commercial registration and a known address | A mobile number with no establishment name |
| Weighing and measuring | In front of you at home, and written on the receipt | “We weigh at our place and let you know” |
| Scope of the price | To the door of the house, with clearance stated | A price to the port presented as a complete price |
| Time | About 9 to 14 days from Riyadh | “Three days and you receive it” |
| Distribution in Egypt | A warehouse and a courier who rings before arriving | “Your family collect from the port” |
| Receipt | A number for every piece and carton | Collection with no paper |

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Riyadh to Egypt
How much does shipping from Riyadh to Egypt cost?
A medium carton starts from SAR 140, a large one from SAR 185, a jumbo from SAR 230, an electrical appliance from SAR 92 per piece, a complete bedroom from SAR 1,650, and the furniture of a three-room flat from SAR 4,150. The last figure is fixed once the shipment is measured and the governorate is known. Message us on 0552803439.
How long does shipping from Riyadh to Egypt take?
The usual time is 9 to 14 days from the day of collection in Riyadh to the day we knock on the consignee’s door. That includes the days the shared truck takes to fill, the two days on the road to the port, the ferry sailing, clearance at the arrival port, and then distribution inside Egypt. An air parcel arrives in 3 to 6 days.
How does a shipment get from Riyadh to Egypt with the sea in between?
It is loaded into a closed truck that drives to Duba port on the Tabuk coast; the truck boards the ferry with its load and crosses to Safaga or Hurghada. There is a second route through the Jordanian port of Aqaba to Nuweiba. After clearance at the arrival port it carries on to the warehouse in Egypt.
Are the cartons taken off the truck at the ferry?
No. The truck crosses the sea locked on its load, so the cartons are not handled at the departure port. It is opened at the arrival port in front of customs as far as inspection requires, and its load is then taken off at the warehouse inside Egypt.
Do you deliver in Assiut, Sohag and the rest of Upper Egypt?
Yes. After the warehouse, small vehicles go out to the governorates, and Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan usually need a further 3 to 5 days after the truck arrives. The courier rings the consignee’s Egyptian number before setting off.
Is customs paid on used belongings in Egypt?
Used effects and furniture are assessed at the arrival port by type and condition, and electrical appliances get the closest look. The practice in force is that the shipment is in a person’s name, in quantities that suit a family rather than a shop. We go through your list before loading and tell you what to expect, and confirm the current rule at that time.
What documents are needed to ship from Riyadh to Egypt?
From the sender, a copy of the residence permit and passport and a list of contents that names every carton and piece. For the consignee, the name as on the national ID card, the address and an Egyptian mobile number. A final-exit returnee adds the final exit visa, and a trader adds the invoice, certificate of origin and commercial registration.
Should I put a new mobile phone inside the carton?
No. Egypt has a registration and fee system for phones coming from abroad that changes by decision, and a new phone among the cartons stops the carton at inspection. Carry it with you when you travel, and ask about the rule in force before buying it.
Do you ship fridges, washing machines and air conditioners?
Yes, and they are among the most common things sent from Riyadh. Shipping an appliance starts from SAR 92 per piece depending on its size. The fridge and washing machine are emptied a day ahead, a technician dismantles the air conditioner, and each appliance’s type and condition is written on the list.
What is the difference between shared shipping and a dedicated truck?
In a shared load your shipment takes part of a truck that many senders split, so you pay for your volume and wait for it to fill. With a dedicated truck the vehicle is booked for you alone and leaves on the day you choose, which suits a whole house. The dedicated truck’s price is set on request.
Do you ship cars from Riyadh to Egypt?
A Saudi car normally enters Egypt on temporary admission with its owner, under a customs carnet, and crosses on the ferry. Bringing it in permanently is restricted by strict Egyptian conditions that change, so we do not load a car before reviewing its position. The price is set on request.
How much is air freight from Riyadh to Cairo?
Documents by express start from SAR 55, and the per-kilogram price for parcels is set on request according to the chargeable weight. The parcel leaves King Khalid International Airport for Cairo airport and is delivered in 3 to 6 days.
Does the price include clearance and delivery to the house?
We write into the price what it covers, item by item: collection, transport, the ferry, clearance, and distribution to the door. The customs duties themselves are assessed by Egyptian customs on the items, and we give you an expectation of them before shipping.
Which districts of Riyadh do you collect from?
From every district: north, east, south, west and centre, and from Diriyah, Al-Kharj, Al-Muzahimiyah and Huraymila. The courier comes to the door, weighs and numbers every piece in front of you, and leaves you a collection receipt with the numbers.
Do you ship from Egypt to Riyadh?
Yes, by the same route in reverse: collection in Egypt, then the truck on the ferry to the Saudi coast, then clearance and delivery in Riyadh. What enters the Kingdom is subject to Saudi customs regulations, so we check the items before loading.
