What does a land freight company in Saudi Arabia do?
Land freight means your shipment stays on wheels from your address to the consignee’s address in another country. There is no port in the middle and no airport, only a road, a border crossing and another road. The Kingdom sits in the middle of its neighbours and is linked to eight countries by land, so the truck is the shortest way to most of what surrounds it.
The company’s work is not limited to a driver and a vehicle. We measure the shipment and choose the truck size, dismantle and pack the furniture, write the contents list, file the export declaration before the truck reaches the crossing, arrange the clearing agent on the other side, then unload and assemble at the consignee. If any one of these links is missing, the truck stops in the border yard.
Who ships by land from the Kingdom, and what?
The truck’s customers are very different groups: a family moving home, an employee whose contract has ended, a trader supplying a neighbouring market, a factory exporting its product. Each has a different volume and different paperwork, so what suits one does not suit another:
| Shipper | What they usually ship | The method that suits them |
|---|---|---|
| A family relocating to a Gulf country | A whole home’s furniture and appliances | A dedicated truck sealed at the door |
| An Arab resident returning home | Bedrooms, appliances, cartons and suitcases | Shared load by volume, or dedicated for a large home |
| A student or seconded employee | Suitcases and cartons of books and clothes | Shared, per carton or suitcase |
| An online shop | Parcels for customers in neighbouring countries | Regular road parcels, and air for urgent ones |
| A trader or factory | Pallets of goods, building materials, food | A full trailer, refrigerated where cooling is needed |
| A car owner | A car for export or for residence abroad | A shared or enclosed car carrier |
Where does land freight from Saudi Arabia reach?
Ten countries can be reached by a truck leaving the Kingdom. Five are Gulf states with direct or near-direct borders, four lie to the north, and Egypt is completed by ferry. The table gives each destination’s crossing, its usual transit time and the article that explains it:
| Destination | Saudi crossing | Door-to-door transit | Detailed article |
|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | Batha | 1–6 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE |
| Qatar | Salwa | 1–5 days | Shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar |
| Bahrain | King Fahd Causeway | 1–7 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain |
| Kuwait | Khafji or Ar-Ruqi | 1–5 days | Furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait |
| Oman | Rub’ al-Khali, or Batha via the UAE | 3–10 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Oman |
| Jordan | Haditha, Halat Ammar, Durra | 2–7 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Jordan |
| Syria | Haditha or Halat Ammar, then Jordan | 5–8 days with a full truck | Shipping company from Jeddah to Syria |
| Lebanon | Haditha or Halat Ammar, then Jordan and Syria | 5–12 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon |
| Iraq | Jadidat Arar | 4–8 days | Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Iraq |
| Egypt | Port of Duba, then the ferry | 7–15 days | Land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt |
We do not offer road freight beyond these ten. Turkey, Europe, Libya and the Maghreb are served by containers and aircraft, and Yemen is not among our destinations. The full list of countries is on the destinations page.
Land crossings from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf: Batha, Salwa and the King Fahd Causeway

Six crossings link the Kingdom to its five Gulf neighbours, and three of them carry most of the traffic. Batha, in the south of the Eastern Province, is the gateway to the UAE, facing Al Ghuwaifat in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Salwa is the only land gateway to Qatar, facing Abu Samra. The King Fahd Causeway leaves Khobar and runs about 25 km over the Gulf to Bahrain, with an island in the middle that houses both countries’ customs.
Kuwait has two crossings: Khafji on the coast, facing Nuwaiseeb, and Ar-Ruqi on the Hafar al-Batin side, facing Salmi. Oman is reached by a desert road of about 564 km that starts at the Batha road junction and ends at the Rub’ al-Khali crossing, facing the Omani crossing of Ramlat Khaliya. That road is equipped for trucks, yet some loads still travel through the UAE depending on the Omani city concerned, so we confirm the available route before loading.
| Saudi crossing | Opposite crossing | Country | Who mostly uses it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Batha | Al Ghuwaifat | UAE | All UAE trucks, via Al-Ahsa and Salwa. About 500 km from Riyadh |
| Salwa | Abu Samra | Qatar | Doha trucks from the Eastern Province, Riyadh and the west |
| King Fahd Causeway | The customs island mid-causeway | Bahrain | All road shipments to Bahrain, from Khobar |
| Khafji | Nuwaiseeb | Kuwait | Traffic from Dammam, Jubail and Al-Ahsa |
| Ar-Ruqi | Salmi | Kuwait | Traffic from Riyadh, Qassim and Jeddah via Hafar al-Batin |
| Rub’ al-Khali | Ramlat Khaliya | Oman | Trucks for Muscat, the interior and Salalah when the direct road suits them |
The six states belong to one customs union, so goods of Gulf origin cross free of duty with a certificate of origin. Each country’s rules are detailed in the article shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states, and the crossings’ data is on the ports and gateways page.
Land freight north from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq

The northern line is longer than the Gulf one and has more borders. Jordan is its gateway, and from there the road branches to Syria and then Lebanon. Iraq has its own crossing in the Northern Borders region. The largest crossing here is Haditha, 36 km from Qurayyat, facing the Al-Omari post, which is about 155 km from Amman. Halat Ammar is north of Tabuk and faces Mudawwara. Durra is on the Gulf of Aqaba, 11 km from Haql, for cargo bound for the city of Aqaba.
A truck for Syria crosses the whole of Jordan and then enters from Jaber into the Nassib crossing. A truck for Lebanon continues across Syrian territory to Jdeidet Yabous and Masnaa. The road operates, but conditions at these crossings change, and the cargo may be moved to another truck at one of them. So, depending on the state of the crossings, we confirm the available route before shipping. For Iraq, the truck climbs to Jadidat Arar, about 60 km north of the city of Arar, facing the Iraqi Arar crossing, and from there to Karbala and Baghdad.
| Destination | Route | Origin cities it serves | Usual transit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jordan: Amman, Zarqa and Irbid | Haditha → Al-Omari | Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, the Eastern Province and Al-Jouf | 2–7 days |
| Jordan: Ma’an, Karak and Amman | Halat Ammar → Mudawwara | Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk and the south | 2–7 days |
| Jordan: Aqaba | Durra | Tabuk and the west coast | 2–5 days |
| Syria: Damascus, Aleppo and Homs | Jordan → Jaber → Nassib | All cities, through either Jordan crossing | 5–8 days with a full truck |
| Lebanon: Beirut, Tripoli and Sidon | Jordan → Syria → Masnaa | All cities, depending on the state of the crossings | 5–12 days |
| Iraq: Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf | Jadidat Arar → Nukhayb → Karbala | Riyadh and the Eastern Province via Hafar al-Batin, the west via Hail | 4–8 days |
Land freight to Egypt: a truck that boards the ferry
Egypt is the only destination whose road is not completed on tarmac. The Red Sea separates the two countries, so shipments are consolidated in the Saudi cities inside a closed truck that drives to the port of Duba in the Tabuk region. There the truck boards the ferry with its load, without unloading, and drives off at Safaga or Nuweiba, and inspection and customs clearance take place at the arrival port.
After clearance the truck goes to the warehouse in Egypt, where the shipments are unloaded and sorted by governorate, then leave for the homes in small vans. Door-to-door transit is 7 to 15 days. A medium carton starts from SAR 140, a bedroom from SAR 1,650, and the furniture of a three-room flat from SAR 4,150. Ferry times change, so we do not promise a fixed schedule. All the stages are explained in the article land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt.
Land freight transit times and the stages of the trip
Driving hours are the smallest part of the trip. A truck from Riyadh reaches Batha in a single day, but the shipment does not reach Dubai in a single day, because before the road there is packing and loading, and after it two border posts and unloading. These are the stages of any international road trip and each stage’s share of the time:
| Stage | What happens | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Survey and booking | Estimating the volume, choosing the truck and setting the collection day | On the day you call |
| 2. Collection | Dismantling, packing, numbering, loading and writing the list | Half a day to a day |
| 3. Consolidation | Waiting for the shared truck to fill at the city warehouse | 1–4 days; not needed for a dedicated truck |
| 4. Road to the crossing | Driving inside the Kingdom | Hours to two days depending on the city |
| 5. Saudi crossing | Matching the export declaration and stamping the exit | Hours |
| 6. Destination crossing | Classification, inspection and payment of duties or approval of the exemption | Hours to a day, longer if the file is incomplete |
| 7. Road to the city | Driving inside the destination country | Hours to a day |
| 8. Delivery | Unloading, checking against the list and assembly | Half a day |
And these are the combined times for each method, taking the Gulf as an example:
| Method | Transit to the Gulf | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated truck | 1–6 days | A whole home, goods that fill the box |
| Shared truck | 4–10 days | A room, cartons, a few pallets |
| Car carrier | 2–6 days | Cars of all kinds |
| Road parcels | 2–7 days | Cartons, suitcases and gifts |
| Air freight | 1–2 days | Documents and urgent parcels |
What lengthens the transit?
- An incomplete file at the crossing: one missing paper keeps the truck in the yard until it arrives.
- Filling the load: a shared truck does not move a third empty, and low-demand lines wait longer.
- Peak seasons: before Ramadan and the two Eids, the summer holiday, and weekends on the causeway.
- An item that needs a permit: a medicine, cosmetic or food without its permit opens the door to a full inspection.
- Truck entry hours: many cities ban heavy trucks at rush hours, so unloading is put off until the evening.
Transit times for all destinations are on the transit times page.
Land freight prices from Saudi Arabia
Three things set the price: the destination, your city, and the space your shipment takes in the truck. The figures below are our starting prices for each country, taken unchanged from each destination’s article, and they apply to the Saudi cities nearest the crossing. Shipping from a more distant city adds to them:
| Destination | Carton or parcel | Bedroom | Flat furniture | Car on a carrier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | from SAR 140 | from SAR 920 | from SAR 4,150 | from SAR 1,100 |
| Qatar | from SAR 140 | from SAR 1,650 | from SAR 2,750 | from SAR 1,100 |
| Bahrain | from SAR 140 | from SAR 740 | from SAR 1,100 | from SAR 830 |
| Kuwait | from SAR 140 | from SAR 920 | from SAR 1,380 | from SAR 1,380 |
| Oman | from SAR 140 | from SAR 1,700 | from SAR 2,950 | from SAR 1,100 from the Eastern Province |
| Jordan | from SAR 140 | from SAR 1,650 | from SAR 3,700 | from SAR 1,290 |
| Syria | parcels up to 50 kg from SAR 370 | a luggage shipment from SAR 1,650 | from SAR 3,700 | Set on request |
| Lebanon | a small parcel from SAR 55 | from SAR 1,195 | from SAR 3,700 | from SAR 4,140 |
| Iraq | from SAR 140 | from SAR 2,300 | a whole house from SAR 5,980 | from SAR 2,300 |
| Egypt | from SAR 140 | from SAR 1,650 | from SAR 4,150 | Set on request |
There are also general items on the Gulf lines: a parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 32, a suitcase from SAR 230, a cubic metre in a shared truck from SAR 550, and loads above 50 kg from SAR 4.6 per kilogram. A full trailer from Riyadh to the UAE starts from SAR 6,450 and to Jordan from SAR 5,980, and a Dyna truck to Jordan from SAR 3,220. Transport between Saudi cities, refrigerated trucks and equipment haulage are set on request.
Prices quoted in the market: most pages that appear for anyone searching for land freight companies are lists of names and phone numbers, and publish no price for an international line. What is published concerns parcel delivery inside the Kingdom, starting from SAR 10 to 30 with local carriers and SAR 60 with express courier companies. On the international lines, a carton to Kuwait is quoted at SAR 150 to 250, a bedroom there at about SAR 1,800, and a car on a carrier at SAR 1,500 to 2,800. A shared-load kilogram to Iraq is quoted at SAR 15 to 22, and a large bedroom to Egypt at about SAR 1,800. So always compare on the same item and the same two cities.
| Factor | Its effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Your city’s distance from the crossing | The Eastern Province is cheapest to the Gulf, Tabuk and Al-Jouf cheapest to Jordan, and the west is furthest from both |
| Volume after packing | The basis of the charge in a shared truck; dismantling reduces it |
| Dedicated or shared | Dedicated is the whole vehicle’s fare, shared is your share of it |
| Number of borders | Each extra crossing brings a clearing agent and a transit fee |
How do you cut the cost?
- Ask for a shared load if your date can bear a few extra days.
- Dismantle wardrobes, beds and tables: volume is what you pay for.
- Get rid of what is not worth its freight before measuring day, not after.
- Combine your shipment with a relative or colleague bound for the same city.
- Estimate the volume in advance with the CBM calculator, and read the pricing factors.
Land freight from the Saudi cities: which city is nearest which crossing?
Your city’s location decides half the trip. The Eastern Province is on the doorstep of the Gulf, Tabuk and Al-Jouf on the doorstep of Jordan, and the Northern Borders on the doorstep of Iraq. Riyadh is in the middle, and shared trucks leave it for most lines on most days of the week. The cities of the west and south are further from the Gulf crossings, so their small shipments are gathered to a larger centre and then move:
| Origin city | To the Gulf | To Jordan and the Levant | To Iraq |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | About 500 km to Batha, and 650–700 km to Kuwait | Haditha via Qassim, Hail and Al-Jouf | Via Hafar al-Batin and Rafha, about 1,100 km to the crossing |
| Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | The nearest cities: the causeway is in Khobar, and Khafji and Salwa are hours away | Haditha via Hafar al-Batin, Arar and Turaif | Via Nairiyah and Hafar al-Batin |
| Jeddah, Makkah and Taif | Via Riyadh then east, about two thousand kilometres to Dubai | Halat Ammar via Tabuk | Via Madinah and Hail, about 1,350 km from Jeddah |
| Madinah | Via Qassim and Riyadh, about 850 km to Riyadh | Halat Ammar via Khaybar, Tayma and Tabuk | Via Hail, about 930 km |
| Qassim and Hail | South to Riyadh then east | Haditha via Al-Jouf | A direct road to Arar |
| Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Qurayyat | Gathered to Riyadh or Madinah | The nearest regions: Halat Ammar, Haditha and Durra | Via Sakaka and Arar |
| Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran | To Riyadh via Wadi ad-Dawasir | Via Jeddah then Tabuk | Joins the Riyadh or Jeddah truck |
Distances are approximate and follow the road taken. Those shipping from the big cities have articles of their own: international shipping company in Riyadh, international shipping companies in Jeddah, and international shipping company in Dammam. The other cities are on the cities we serve page.
A full or shared truck for furniture by land from Saudi Arabia

The first decision after choosing the destination is whether you take the whole vehicle or a place in it. A dedicated truck stops at your home, your furniture alone is loaded, and the door is closed with a seal that is opened only at the consignee or in front of a customs inspector. A shared truck combines your shipment with others at the city warehouse, so you pay for your share only and wait until it fills.
The practical rule is simple. For anything that fills more than half the box, a dedicated truck is cheaper than or close to a shared one, with a big difference in speed and far less handling. Anything below that — a room, cartons, suitcases — belongs in a shared truck. In both cases three jobs come before loading that we never skip: dismantling, packing and numbering.
| Point of comparison | Dedicated truck | Shared truck |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | A whole home, a villa, palletised goods | One or two rooms, cartons, odd pieces |
| How it is charged | The vehicle’s fare for the trip | Per cubic metre, piece or carton |
| Departure day | The loading day itself | When the load is complete |
| Handling | One loading and one unloading | Passes through a warehouse at both ends |
| Clearance | One declaration in your name | Within a declaration covering several shipments |
| Delivery | The same truck to the address | A distribution van from the warehouse |
Truck types and their capacity
Choosing the right size prevents two losses: paying for empty space, or pieces left on the pavement because the box is full. That is why we ask for the list before naming the vehicle. The capacities in the table are approximate and differ from one box to another:
| Vehicle | Approximate capacity | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Closed Dyna | 20–25 m³ | One or two rooms, and collection from narrow districts |
| Medium box lorry | 35–45 m³ | A flat of two to three rooms |
| Closed trailer about 13 metres long | 80–90 m³ | A villa, or a shared load for several homes |
| Curtain-side trailer | Up to about 25 tonnes | Pallets loaded by forklift from the side |
| Refrigerated | Set on request | Food, dairy and medicines with a temperature log |
| Car carrier | 6–8 cars on an open one | Cars, including enclosed carriers for luxury ones |
Moving equipment and machinery has its own page: heavy equipment shipping. The truck service in general is on the land freight page.
Furniture by land: dismantling, packing and numbering
Furniture is what our trucks carry most, and what suffers most if loaded as it stands. A piece that is not dismantled takes double the space and its joints break. We work in your home in this order:
- Dismantling: wardrobes, beds and dining tables are taken down to panels, and the bag of screws is taped to the piece it belongs to.
- Packing: blankets and bubble wrap for wood, cardboard corners for edges, and wooden crates for marble, glass and screens.
- Numbering: every piece and carton has a number matching a line in the list, and the consignee counts by it.
- Appliances: the fridge is unplugged a day before, the washing machine drum is fixed, and a technician removes the air conditioner while keeping its gas.
- Assembly: the furniture is put back as it was at the consignee’s home, where the agreement includes it.
A bedroom starts from SAR 740 to Bahrain and SAR 920 to Kuwait and the UAE. The full service is on the furniture shipping page, and for those moving home beyond the region there is the article international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia.
Parcels, luggage and cartons in the shared truck
Not every shipment is a home. Much of what we carry is cartons a resident sends to family, a student’s suitcases, or a parcel from a shop to a customer in a neighbouring country. These travel in the shared truck at a per-piece price and are delivered to the door. They are far cheaper than excess baggage on a flight for anyone not in a hurry.
- Small parcel: up to 5 kg to the Gulf from SAR 32.
- Carton: from SAR 140 to the Gulf, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, in a double-wall carton.
- Suitcase: from SAR 230, wrapped in film that protects it from opening and dirt.
- Above 50 kg: to the Gulf from SAR 4.6 per kilogram.
Write on every piece the consignee’s name and mobile number in the destination country, not your Saudi number. Service details are on the parcel shipping page.
Commercial goods, refrigerated freight and equipment
A trader asks about something different from a family: a firm date, complete documents, and a cost per tonne or pallet to build a price on. The truck is the first means of trade with neighbouring countries, because it loads at the factory door and unloads at the importer’s warehouse with no port in between.
A pallet in a shared load starts from SAR 550 to Jordan, Iraq and Kuwait, and from SAR 740 to the UAE. Goods by the tonne start from SAR 870 to Oman and SAR 2,580 to Egypt. A product of Saudi origin enters the Gulf states free of duty with a certificate of origin issued before loading, not at the crossing. Food and medicines travel in a refrigerated truck with a temperature log, and with the permits of the competent authority in the destination country.
Inside the Kingdom an electronic transport document is issued for every load through the Naql portal, with the details of the sender, the consignee, the goods and the carrier. It is what proves your shipment is with a licensed carrier. Our services for companies are on the commercial shipping page.
Car shipping by land on carriers
A car travels by land on a carrier, not on its own wheels, unless its owner drives it. The shared open carrier is the cheapest way and carries several cars together. The enclosed one is for a luxury or classic car whose owner does not want road dust to touch it. In both cases the car is secured by its wheels with straps and photographed from all sides before it goes up.
- To the Gulf: from SAR 830 to Bahrain, SAR 1,100 to the UAE and Qatar, and SAR 1,380 to Kuwait.
- To Jordan: a saloon from SAR 1,290, and a 4×4 from SAR 2,020.
- To Iraq: a saloon from SAR 2,300, and a 4×4 from SAR 2,760.
- To Lebanon: on a carrier from SAR 4,140, while sea in a container is cheaper, from SAR 2,800.
- Before export: paying fines, an export certificate from the traffic department, and surrendering the plates or taking export plates.
Each country sets a limit on the age of an imported used car and conditions for its specification, and these change. So we confirm your car is accepted before any booking. Anyone travelling temporarily with a car needs a carnet for some countries. All the methods are on the car shipping page and in the article car shipping from Saudi Arabia.
Customs clearance at the land crossings, and documents
Every road shipment is cleared at least twice: an export declaration at the Saudi crossing and an import declaration at the destination crossing. The declaration is filed electronically before the truck reaches the barrier, so if it arrives with a complete file it passes the check and the scanner and leaves. If its file starts at the counter, it stays in the yard. That is why we give the shipment its correct customs classification and prepare the export papers and certificate of origin while the truck is still at the warehouse.
| Type of shipment | Documents |
|---|---|
| Used furniture and effects | The sender’s ID or residence permit and passport, a numbered contents list, and proof of the consignee’s residence in the destination country |
| Furniture of a national returning home | The above, with the final exit visa or cancelled residence, and whatever that country’s customs require for the exemption |
| Personal cartons and parcels | The sender’s ID, the consignee’s name, number and address, and a statement of the contents and their value |
| Commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, attested certificate of origin, the exporter’s registration, and the importer’s details and licences |
| Food, medicines and cosmetics | The above, with the health certificate or the permit of the competent authority in the destination country |
| Car | The registration, export certificate, the owner’s ID, and proof of the year of manufacture and specification |
These are the rules currently applied in the destination countries, and we confirm those in force before every shipment:
| Country | What matters most to the shipper |
|---|---|
| Gulf states | A general customs duty of 5% on foreign goods whose duty was not paid in a Gulf state, exemption for Gulf origin, and the effects of someone relocating are mostly exempt |
| Jordan | An exemption for the furniture of a returning Jordanian under conditions, and 16% sales tax on new items |
| Syria and Lebanon | Clearance at more than one border, an exemption for a returning Lebanese under conditions, and VAT in Lebanon of 11% |
| Iraq | An exemption for a returning Iraqi’s effects under conditions, and tight controls on cars |
| Egypt | Clearance at the ferry’s arrival port, close scrutiny of appliances and new items, and registration of incoming mobile phones |
Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page, and our service is on the customs clearance page.
What is not shipped by land, or is restricted
A shared truck carries several people’s shipments, and one prohibited item in one carton stops everyone at the crossing. So we ask about the contents of every sealed carton and open any we doubt before accepting it. These are the main items:
| Item | Its status in land freight |
|---|---|
| Weapons, ammunition and fireworks | Prohibited |
| Narcotics, alcohol and pork | Prohibited |
| Gas cylinders, fuel, paints and solvents | Not accepted in a closed truck with furniture |
| Cash, gold and original documents | Not shipped; carried by their owner |
| Medicines | A personal quantity with its prescription; commercial with a permit |
| Perishable food | In a refrigerated truck only, with its health certificate |
| Communication devices and drones | With a permit from the destination country’s authority |
| Zamzam water | Not shipped as cargo |
The general list is on the prohibited items page.
Transport between Saudi cities, storage and logistics services
International shipping begins with a domestic leg. A shipment from Abha or Tabuk is first moved to the consolidation warehouse in a larger city, then joins the line truck. This leg is part of our service. The price of transport between Saudi cities is set on request according to the two cities and the volume.
With it come the supporting services that traders and householders ask for: keeping the shipment at the warehouse until its travel date or until the consignee’s home is ready, combining purchases from several suppliers into one shipment, repacking and strapping on pallets, and preparing the export papers. Storage conditions are on the storage page, and the rest of what we offer on the services page.
When is sea freight a better fit than land?
The truck wins when the border is shared and the road continuous. It loses to the container in two cases: a destination with no road to it, and a very heavy load that is in no hurry. So Turkey, Europe, Libya and the Maghreb are served by containers from Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, not by trucks.
To the Gulf, however, sea from the west coast is impractical, because the ship sails round the whole peninsula to reach what a truck reaches in two days. To Lebanon, Syria and Jordan there is a container from Jeddah to Beirut, Latakia or Aqaba, starting from SAR 4,600 for a 20ft container, which suits commercial goods. The comparison is on the shipping methods comparison page, and the service in the article sea freight company in Saudi Arabia and on the sea freight page.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia when the road is too slow

Some shipments cannot bear the days on the road, however few. A contract waiting to be signed, a spare part that has stopped a production line, a medicine, or a suitcase its owner needs tomorrow. These fly. We collect them from your door, hand them to cargo at King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah or King Fahd Airport in Dammam, and they are delivered to the consignee’s door in the destination country.
- Price: to the Gulf, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon from SAR 14 per kilogram, and to Iraq from SAR 41 per kilogram.
- Documents: an express envelope from SAR 83.
- Transit: one to two days to the Gulf, and two to 5 days to the Levant, Iraq and Egypt.
- Charging basis: the chargeable weight, meaning whichever is higher of the scale weight and the volumetric one; you can check it on the volumetric weight calculator.
- What does not fly: loose batteries, pressurised aerosols and perfumes in quantity; these stay for the truck or are left out.
Furniture and large appliances are sent by air only when there is no choice, because their size multiplies their chargeable weight. Service details are on the air freight page and in the article air freight from Saudi Arabia.
Packing and securing for a long desert road
The roads leaving the Kingdom all cross open desert: high heat in summer, dust, and vibration that never stops. Packing that is enough for a move between two districts is not enough for a thousand kilometres. These are our rules for the load before the door is closed:
- Against dust: full plastic wrap for mattresses, sofas and carpets, and wide tape over carton flaps.
- Against heat: candles, chocolate and cosmetics are not loaded in an ordinary box in summer.
- Against vibration: no empty space inside the carton or between rows, and wooden partitions where needed.
How to pack each item is in the packing guide, and securing the load on the packing and lashing page.
Steps for land freight with Home Safe
- Send your request: your city, the destination and a list or photos of what you are shipping, to 0552803439.
- Receive the price: you get the figure and what it covers: packing, the two crossings and delivery.
- Fix the date: we set the collection day and the truck size, and ask for copies of the documents.
- Dismantling and packing: the team comes to your home or warehouse and numbers every piece.
- List and receipt: you review and sign the contents list and take the collection receipt.
- Loading and the road: a dedicated truck leaves at once; a shared one waits to fill.
- The two crossings: the export declaration, then clearance in the destination country, and we tell you the duties assessed.
- Delivery: unloading, counting against the list and assembly, then the consignee signs.
Tracking and insurance
We know where the truck is every day, and we update you at the points that matter to you: departure, arrival at the crossing, leaving it, and the delivery appointment. Your shipment number opens its status on the shipment tracking page.
Insurance is optional and is calculated on the value you declare in the list. It covers loss and damage on the road according to the policy terms, and does not cover what was not listed or a carton its owner sealed without our seeing it. The terms for booking and changing it are written in the booking confirmation. Details are on the cargo insurance page.
Land freight to Saudi Arabia from Egypt, the Gulf and Jordan
The same roads work in the opposite direction. A truck coming from Egypt boards the ferry at Safaga or Nuweiba and drives off at Duba, is cleared, and continues to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or Tabuk. Trucks from the Gulf and Jordan enter through the crossings our trucks leave by. We collect in those countries through our agents, and the file is managed from here.
Someone arriving to work in the Kingdom brings in used furniture and effects with a contents list and a valid residence permit or visa. Incoming commercial goods need an invoice and a certificate of origin, plus a conformity certificate issued through the Saber platform for the products subject to one. We confirm what is currently required before loading in the country of origin.
Advice before you book your truck
- Book a week ahead, and two weeks ahead in the return seasons.
- Photograph furniture and appliances before packing, and keep the photos.
- Have copies of the documents ready before collection day, not in the border yard.
- Send the consignee a copy of the list to count against.
- Ask about truck entry bans in your district and the consignee’s.
How do you choose a land freight company?
There are many names and the prices sound close on the phone. What separates one company from another is what it says when you ask for details. Put these questions and compare the answers:
| Question | A good sign | A sign to slow down |
|---|---|---|
| Which crossing does the shipment go through? | Names the crossing and the one opposite | “We will get it there, that is all” |
| What does the price cover? | Lists packing, clearance and delivery | A single figure with no breakdown |
| Who clears on the other side? | A known agent who receives the file in advance | “The consignee will manage” |
| How long does it take? | A range of days with what may lengthen it | An hour-exact time for a shared load |
| Is the carrier licensed? | Commercial registration, a transport document and a stamped receipt | A lone driver with no paper at all |
| What if a piece is damaged? | A numbered list, a report and optional insurance | “Nothing will happen” |
Common mistakes in land freight
- Choosing a truck smaller than the furniture, then paying for a second trip for what was left.
- Writing “household items” in the list instead of naming the pieces and their number.
- Putting a new appliance in its box among used furniture without mentioning it.
- Shipping Saudi goods without a certificate of origin, so a duty is paid that would have been waived.
- Agreeing a price to the crossing and assuming it is to the door.
- Loading a car with unpaid fines, so the traffic department turns it back.
- Handing the shipment to a carrier with no collection receipt and no number to refer to.

Frequently asked questions about a land freight company in Saudi Arabia
Which countries does a land freight company in Saudi Arabia reach?
Ten destinations are served by truck from the Kingdom: the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman in the Gulf; Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq to the north; and Egypt, by a truck that boards the ferry at Duba. Yemen is outside our service.
How long does land freight from Saudi Arabia take?
The Gulf is the shortest line: 1 to 6 days depending on your city and the country. Jordan takes 2 to 7 days, Iraq 4 to 8, Syria 5 to 8 with a full truck, Lebanon 5 to 12, and Egypt 7 to 15 days. A shared load adds a few days because it waits for the truck to fill.
How much does land freight from Saudi Arabia cost?
A carton starts from SAR 140 to most destinations, and a parcel up to 5 kg to the Gulf from SAR 32. A bedroom starts from SAR 740 to Bahrain, SAR 920 to Kuwait and the UAE, and SAR 1,650 to Jordan and Egypt. A car on a carrier starts from SAR 830. The final figure follows your city and the volume after packing. Message us on 0552803439.
What is the difference between a full truck and a shared one?
A full truck is booked for you alone: it loads at your door, leaves on your day and is opened only at the consignee. In a shared truck you pay for the space your shipment occupies, and it travels with other people’s shipments once the truck is full. A whole home, or goods beyond half the box, suits a full truck; anything smaller is cheaper shared.
Which crossing will my shipment leave through?
The destination decides, then your city. The UAE through Batha, Qatar through Salwa, Bahrain over the King Fahd Causeway, Kuwait through Khafji or Ar-Ruqi, and Oman through the Rub’ al-Khali crossing or via the UAE. Jordan through Haditha or Halat Ammar, and Iraq through Jadidat Arar. We write the crossing in the shipment details when the booking is confirmed.
Do you ship by land to Syria and Lebanon?
Yes, through Jordan. The truck enters Jordan at Haditha or Halat Ammar, then Syria at Jaber and Nassib, and for Lebanon it continues to the Masnaa crossing. The road operates, but conditions at the crossings change and the cargo may be moved from one truck to another at one of them. So we confirm the available route before loading, according to the state of the crossings.
How can freight to Egypt go by land with a sea in between?
The truck has no continuous road, so it takes the ferry. Shipments are loaded into a closed truck that drives to the port of Duba, boards the ferry with everything in it, and drives off at Safaga or Nuweiba, where inspection and clearance take place. It is then unloaded at the warehouse inside Egypt and the shipments are distributed by small vans. The transit time is 7 to 15 days.
What documents are needed for land freight?
For luggage and furniture: a copy of the ID or residence permit and the passport, a numbered contents list, and the consignee’s full details. For commercial goods: an invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, the exporter’s registration and the importer’s details. For a car: the registration, export certificate and the owner’s ID. We review the file in your city before loading day.
Will I pay customs on my used furniture?
In the Gulf states the used furniture and effects of someone relocating are mostly exempt, with a contents list and proof of residence. In Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Iraq a national returning home has an exemption under conditions that differ from country to country and change. New items in their boxes are treated as goods everywhere. We review your case and confirm the rule in force before shipping.
Do you move cars by land?
Yes, on a shared or enclosed car carrier. Transport starts from SAR 830 to Bahrain, SAR 1,100 to the UAE and Qatar, SAR 1,290 to Jordan and SAR 2,300 to Iraq. Each country has its own condition on the age and specification of an imported car, so we confirm that yours is accepted before booking.
Can I ship a single carton or a suitcase?
Yes. The shared load accepts one carton, a suitcase or a small parcel. A parcel up to 5 kg to the Gulf starts from SAR 32, a carton from SAR 140 and a suitcase from SAR 230. It is delivered to the consignee’s door, and each piece carries the consignee’s name and mobile number in the destination country.
What is not accepted on the truck?
Flammable materials, gas, fireworks and weapons; cash, gold and original documents; and perishable food in a truck that is not refrigerated. Medicines only in a personal quantity with their prescription. Alcohol, pork and narcotics are banned outright. Zamzam water is not shipped as cargo.
When should I choose air freight instead of land?
When time is worth more than the fare and the shipment is light: an official document, a spare part a job depends on, a personal medicine, or a suitcase that must arrive before its owner. The aircraft reaches the Gulf in one to two days and is charged per kilogram from SAR 14.
Do you ship by land from neighbouring countries to Saudi Arabia?
Yes, the lines run in both directions. We collect through our agents in the Gulf, Jordan and Egypt, and the truck enters the Kingdom through the same crossing. Incoming commercial goods need an invoice and a certificate of origin, plus a conformity certificate for the products subject to one. The effects of someone arriving for work enter with a contents list and a valid residence permit or visa.
How do I book and follow my shipment?
Send your city, the destination and a list or photos of what you are shipping to 0552803439, and you receive the price and what it covers. After collection you get a receipt with the number of pieces and a shipment number. We update you when the truck leaves the city, when it reaches the crossing, after clearance and before delivery.
