What does door-to-door shipping mean?

Door-to-door shipping is a single agreement that covers the whole journey. The company’s responsibility begins when the parcel or furniture leaves the sender, and it does not end until the consignee signs for it at their own address.

The meaning becomes clearer by comparison. With shipping to the port or airport only, the service stops at the arrival quay, and the consignee has to appoint a clearing agent, pay the storage charges and arrange a truck to move the goods. The table shows the four service levels:

Service level Where it starts Where it ends What is left to you
Door to door The sender’s address The consignee’s address Preparing your papers, and paying the arrival country’s charges if any
Door to port or airport The sender’s address The arrival quay Clearance and inland transport in the country of arrival
Port to door The company’s warehouse or the port The consignee’s address Packing, and bringing the shipment to the handover point
Port to port The port or airport of departure The port or airport of arrival Everything before and after the main carriage

Why do people ask for door-to-door service, and what does it cost you in return?

The value of the service is that it moves the complexity from the owner of the shipment to someone who knows it. The sender does not know which crossing the Doha truck leaves through, or what papers the port of Mersin asks for, and has no need to.

There is a trade-off you should know before ordering. It costs more than shipping to the port alone, because it contains the work of two teams in two countries. The fair comparison is to add up what you would have paid the clearing agent, the port storage and the local truck, then set that total against the door-to-door price. This is what you gain:

  • Your time: no warehouse visit and no trip to a port, and collection at the hour that suits you.
  • One line of responsibility: one number to call, not a driver who refers you to a broker who refers you to an agent.
  • Less handling: the people who pack are the people who load, so fewer hands touch each piece.
  • A cost known in advance: an itemised price instead of bills appearing one after another in the country of arrival.

Who needs a door-to-door shipping company?

The service is not for one group, but the need grows the less the owner knows about customs and the further the consignee is from the port. These are the people who ask for it most:

Shipper What they ship What matters to them
A resident leaving the Kingdom for good Furniture, appliances, cartons and suitcases Packing at home, and a list their own country’s customs accept
Someone sending a gift or belongings to family A carton, a parcel or a suitcase Collection from home, and arrival in the consignee’s hands
An online shop Regular parcels to customers abroad Fast delivery, and clarity on who pays the duties
A trader or manufacturer Pallets and containers Complete documents and a date to plan around
A car owner A car for export or relocation Collection from the address, and correct export formalities

What does the service include at the sender’s door?

The first end of the journey is the one you see with your own eyes, and its quality decides the rest. A shipment measured wrongly is priced wrongly, and one whose list is written in a hurry stops at the border. So we begin with a survey: photos or a list you send on WhatsApp, or a home visit if there is a lot of furniture.

On collection day the team arrives at the agreed time with a vehicle that suits the street and the load. The work at your door includes the following:

  • Dismantling the furniture that comes apart, and disconnecting and preparing the appliances.
  • Packing with materials the team brings, and numbering every piece and carton.
  • Writing the inventory and going through it with you before the door is closed.
  • Bringing everything down and loading it, by lift, stairs or hoist where needed.
  • Handing you a collection receipt with the number of pieces and the shipment number.

Packing the shipment at the customer’s home before shipping from Saudi Arabia

Packing the shipment at the customer’s home before shipping from Saudi Arabia

Packing at home is what sets door to door apart from a service that asks you to hand over your shipment ready. We bring the packing materials with us, so you do not hunt for cartons or buy tape.

Delicate pieces get particular care: glass, mirrors, screens, marble and ornaments. Each is wrapped in what suits its weakness, then marked with the way up. After packing come the numbering and the inventory. Every piece carries a numbered label, matched by a line in the list describing what it is. That list is what the customs officer reads, and what the consignee counts against.

Item How it is packed Why
Wardrobes, beds and tables Taken down to panels, wrapped in blankets and bubble wrap, corners protected with cardboard Dismantling cuts the volume and protects the joints
Sofas and mattresses Thick plastic bags, then stretch film Keeps out dust, damp and tears
Screens, mirrors and glass Foam sheets and reinforced cardboard, or a wooden crate for large ones The things most often broken in any shipment
Fridge, washing machine and air conditioner Disconnected a day ahead and dried, moving parts secured Leftover water and vibration damage the appliance

The materials and the method for each item are in the packing guide and in the article on packing furniture for a move.

What does the service include on the way and at the consignee’s door?

Once the shipment leaves your home it passes through links you do not see, all of them part of the service. The table lists them in order and says who carries out each one. Inside the Kingdom our team does; in the country of arrival a partner agent we work with there does, acting on our instructions. We have no offices outside Saudi Arabia and do not claim to.

Link What happens Who carries it out
Transport to the warehouse or departure point Final weighing and measuring, and grouping with shipments for the same destination if shared Our team
Export papers The export declaration and its attachments, and the certificate of origin for commercial goods Our team
Main carriage A truck to the crossing, a container to the port, or a booking on a cargo flight A licensed carrier we contract
Clearance in the country of arrival Submitting the file, attending the inspection, and paying the duties or securing the exemption The partner agent
Distribution to the address A vehicle suited to the district, at a time agreed with the consignee The partner agent
Delivery Unloading, carrying into the home, checking against the list, and signature The partner agent, with us following up

The service in detail is on the door-to-door shipping page.

What does a door-to-door price not include?

Most disputes in shipping do not come from damage or delay, but from an item the customer assumed was in the price when it was not. The words “door to door” describe how far the service reaches; they do not mean that everything that may be paid along the way is covered. Read your quote against this table, and ask about any line it does not mention:

Item Usually in the price? Note
Customs duties and taxes in the country of arrival No Calculated there by item and value, and paid by the consignee unless agreed otherwise
Cargo insurance Optional Added as a percentage of the declared value if you ask for it
Storage before shipping or after arrival No Charged if the consignee is late or you ask to postpone shipping
Port storage and container demurrage Not if caused by missing papers of yours They arise when the shipment stays beyond the free period
Difficult access to the address By agreement A high floor with no lift, an external hoist, a street no truck can enter
Permits and tests for restricted items No Medicines, foodstuffs, communication devices, and anything needing an authority’s approval

What our price leaves out we state in the quote itself, not after loading.

DAP and DDP in plain words: who pays the customs?

International trade uses agreed terms that fix where the seller’s responsibility ends and the buyer’s begins, known as Incoterms. Two of them concern door to door. The first is DAP, Delivered at Place: the shipper bears the transport as far as the arrival address, and the consignee is left with import clearance and paying its duties and taxes. The second is DDP, Delivered Duty Paid: the shipper bears everything, including the customs duty and the tax.

Someone shipping furniture or a gift to family does not need these letters, but does need what they stand for. So ask: is the price delivered with duties paid, or without them? The older term DDU is used today to mean what DAP means.

Term Where the shipper’s responsibility ends Who clears for import and pays the duties Suits
EXW Ex Works At the seller’s door The buyer, along with all the transport A buyer with a freight agent handling the journey
FOB Free on Board Once the goods are loaded at the port of departure The buyer Container trade between two companies
DAP Delivered at Place The consignee’s address, before unloading The consignee Most door-to-door shipments
DDP Delivered Duty Paid The consignee’s address The shipper A shop that wants its customer to receive without paying anything

A DDP quote is not always possible. Some countries require the importer of record to be resident there, and for some items the duty is known only after inspection. So we offer it where the arrival country’s rules and the type of shipment allow, and we write in the quote the amount it was based on. Pricing conditions in general are on the pricing factors page.

Customs clearance for your shipment from Saudi Arabia, handled for you

Customs clearance for your shipment from Saudi Arabia, handled for you

Every international shipment passes two customs posts: exit customs in the Kingdom and entry customs in the country of arrival. We handle both. In the Kingdom we prepare the full set of documents and lodge the export declaration before the shipment reaches the crossing, port or airport, so the file gets there first. In the country of arrival the partner agent receives a copy of the file while the shipment is still on its way, and follows the inspection and clearance when it arrives.

Your part is to give us correct papers and truthful information. Clearance rests on the list of contents, and any item left off it triggers a full inspection and delays the shipment. Used personal effects are exempt in many countries on conditions tied to the owner and their residence, and those conditions differ from one country to another and change. So we review your case and confirm what is in force before shipping.

Type of shipment Documents we need from you
Personal effects and used furniture A copy of the ID or residence permit and the passport, a numbered list of contents, and proof of the consignee’s residence in the country of arrival
Furniture of someone returning home for good The above, plus the final exit visa or proof that the residence has ended, and whatever their country’s customs ask for the exemption
A parcel or gift The sender’s ID, the consignee’s name, address and mobile number, and an honest description of the contents and their value
Commercial goods The invoice and packing list, a certificate of origin, your commercial registration as exporter, and the importer’s details with any licence the goods need
A car The vehicle registration card, the traffic department’s export certificate and the owner’s ID

Each paper is explained on the shipping documents page, the clearance service on the customs clearance page, and for importers through Jeddah there is the article on customs clearance in Jeddah.

Door-to-door land freight to the Gulf, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt

The truck comes closest to the meaning of door to door, because it is the only vehicle that stops at both homes. It loads at your address, crosses the border post and unloads at the consignee, with no port or airport in between.

These are our starting land prices to the nearest destinations, exactly as in each country’s article. Shipping from a city further from the crossing adds to them:

Destination Door-to-door time Carton or parcel Bedroom Details
UAE 1–6 days From SAR 140 From SAR 920 Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Bahrain 1–7 days From SAR 140 From SAR 740 Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain
Kuwait 1–5 days From SAR 140 From SAR 920 Furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait
Qatar 1–5 days From SAR 140 From SAR 1,650 Shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar
Jordan 2–7 days From SAR 140 From SAR 1,650 Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
Iraq 4–8 days From SAR 140 From SAR 2,300 Shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Iraq
Egypt, by truck and ferry 7–15 days From SAR 140 From SAR 1,650 Land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt

Alongside them on the Gulf lines: a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 32, a suitcase from SAR 230, and a cubic metre in a shared truck from SAR 550. Syria and Lebanon are served through Jordan, and we confirm the available route before shipping according to the state of the crossings. The crossings and truck types are in the article on the land freight company in Saudi Arabia.

Door-to-door sea freight: a container between two homes

Sea freight has three legs: from your home to the port of departure, then the sailing, then from the port of arrival to the consignee’s home. Door to door means all three in one contract. A full container is brought to your address where the street allows, loaded and sealed in front of you. A smaller shipment is taken to the warehouse and grouped into a shared container, and paid for by the cubic metre.

One point deserves attention when reading prices. The container rate published in the market, and by us, is the rate for the sea leg from port to port. The door leg at each end is added according to how far the two addresses are. So do not compare a container figure with a full-service figure:

Destination What is priced Price starts from Note
Turkey, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria A cubic metre in a shared container SAR 415 For furniture and cartons without a full container
Red Sea, eastern Mediterranean and North African ports A 20ft container, sea freight from Jeddah port SAR 4,600 A 40ft container from SAR 5,200
Morocco A 20ft container, or the cubic metre SAR 7,800, and SAR 780 per cubic metre With a minimum for a shared shipment
Europe and the UK A full household in a container, door to door SAR 11,000 Furniture in a shared container from SAR 5,500
USA Furniture and effects in a shared container SAR 2,750 A 20ft container from SAR 7,800

Inland transport from your city to the port is set on request. Ports and container sizes are in the article on the sea freight company in Saudi Arabia and on the container sizes page.

Door-to-door shipping prices

There is no single door-to-door price, because the service is assembled from links: collection, packing, main carriage, clearance and distribution. Each link changes with the city, the destination and the volume. But the starting prices for each method are known, and the table gathers them. The figures are taken unchanged from our articles for each method and destination:

What you ship Method Price starts from
Document envelope Express air SAR 83
Parcel up to 5 kg Land to the Gulf SAR 32
Medium carton Land to the Gulf, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt SAR 140
Bedroom Land to Bahrain, then Kuwait and the UAE SAR 740, then SAR 920
Cubic metre Shared container to Turkey and North Africa SAR 415
Air kilogram To the Gulf, then Europe, then the USA SAR 14, then SAR 23, then SAR 41
Car Road carrier to Bahrain, or RoRo for a saloon SAR 830, or SAR 2,800
Domestic shipping between Saudi cities Truck or car carrier Set on request; a car from Jeddah to Riyadh from SAR 830

Prices quoted in the market: most of what appears to someone searching for a door-to-door shipping company is pages listing the names and numbers of express couriers, and few publish a price. What is published concerns parcels: a small international shipment starting from about SAR 250 with one express carrier, another offer to Egypt at about SAR 85 for the first 20 kg then SAR 5 for each extra kilogram, and a kilogram at about SAR 40 for businesses and SAR 120 for individuals with a third. The same pages mention 3 to 7 working days for express and up to 15 days for economy. For furniture, cars and containers you will hardly find a published door-to-door price. So compare on the same item and the same two cities.

How do you cut the cost?

  • Choose a shared load if your date can take a few extra days.
  • Get rid of what is not worth its freight before the survey day.
  • Send the heavy items by land or sea, and leave to the aircraft only what you need in your first week.
  • Estimate the volume with the CBM calculator and the air weight with the volumetric weight calculator.

For the lowest cost to each destination, see the article on the cheapest international shipping company in Saudi Arabia.

Door-to-door transit times and what lengthens them

A door-to-door time is always longer than the time on the road, because it starts on collection day, not on the day of take-off or sailing. It contains a day for packing, days for a shared load to fill, time for clearance at both ends and a day for distribution. These are the usual times from address to address:

Method Destination Usual time What governs it
Dedicated truck The Gulf states 1–6 days How far your city is from the crossing
Shared truck The Gulf states 4–10 days The load filling up
Truck and ferry Egypt 7–15 days Ferry sailings and clearance at the arrival port
Container Turkey 18–28 days Direct or with transhipment
Container Europe, the UK and the USA 4–7 weeks The shipping line and inland transport in the country of arrival
Air The Gulf, then Europe, then the USA 1–3, then 3–6, then 5–8 days Flight schedules and clearance

What lengthens the time?

  • A missing paper: an expired ID or a vague list stops the shipment at the first customs post.
  • A consignee who does not answer: a wrong mobile number delays distribution after everything else is done.
  • An undeclared restricted item: a medicine, a communication device or a foodstuff triggers a full inspection.
  • Peak seasons: before Ramadan and the two Eids, and the end of the school year.

Times for every destination are on the transit times page.

Door-to-door shipping within Saudi Arabia

The service is not only for abroad. Between the Kingdom’s cities move the furniture of someone taking a job in another city, a trader’s goods for a branch, and a car going ahead of its owner or following behind. Domestic shipping is the simplest form of door to door: there is no customs and no export declaration, so the shipment loads at one address and unloads at another.

Moving a car from Jeddah to Riyadh on a shared carrier starts from SAR 830. Furniture, cartons and pallets between cities are priced on request, because the figure follows the two cities, the volume and the type of vehicle. Between the main cities the time is one to two days with a dedicated truck, and a little more with a shared one. Details of the service are in the article on the domestic shipping company in Saudi Arabia.

Furniture and personal effects door to door

Furniture needs this service more than anything else, because it cannot be handed over at a counter or carried in a car boot. Someone moving home to another country wants to leave one flat empty and walk into the other furnished, without standing over every stage.

By land, a bedroom starts from SAR 740 to Bahrain and SAR 920 to Kuwait and the UAE, and the furniture of a flat to the UAE from SAR 4,150. By sea, a full household to Europe and the UK starts from SAR 11,000 door to door. If the home in the country of arrival is not ready, we keep the furniture until it is called for, as on the storage page. The full service is on the furniture shipping page and in the article on the international furniture shipping company from Saudi Arabia.

Parcels, gifts and documents

The parcel is the smallest door-to-door shipment and the most numerous. An Eid gift, a box of dates, children’s clothes, or attested papers a relative needs in another country. You send its weight, size and contents, the price comes back, and the courier calls at the time you choose.

  • Documents: an envelope up to one kilogram by air from SAR 83, usually with no duty.
  • Small parcel: up to 5 kg by land to the Gulf from SAR 32, and by air to Europe and Turkey from SAR 110.
  • Carton: by land from SAR 140, in a double-walled carton.
  • Gifts: declare their real value; an understated value is found out and delays the parcel.

Write on the parcel the consignee’s full name as on their ID, and their mobile number in the country of arrival. The service is on the parcel shipping page, and urgent parcels are covered in the article on express international shipping from Saudi Arabia.

Commercial goods and online shops

A trader asks for door to door for a different reason from a family. They want to know the cost of an item landed at the customer’s warehouse, to build the selling price on it. So the delivery term matters to them more than anything else. A shop selling to individuals abroad usually chooses delivery with duties paid, so that the customer is not surprised by a sum at the door and refuses the parcel.

The smallest unit priced for a trader is a single pallet, which starts by land from SAR 550 to Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq. If the product is made in the Kingdom, ask for the certificate of origin before loading day, since it is what waives the customs duty in the Gulf states. The rest of what we offer companies is on the commercial shipping page.

Car shipping door to door

The car is collected from your address, and you do not need to take it to the port yourself. To neighbouring countries it is loaded on an open shared carrier or an enclosed one and delivered in the consignee’s city. For overseas it is taken to the port, then either driven uncovered onto the RoRo vessel or lashed by its wheels inside a container. Before all that come the export formalities at the traffic department: settling fines, the export certificate and export plates.

A road carrier starts from SAR 830 to Bahrain, SAR 1,100 to the UAE and Qatar, and SAR 1,290 to Jordan. RoRo starts from SAR 2,800 for a saloon. Each country sets an age limit for used cars and conditions for their specification, and these change, so we confirm that your car is accepted before any booking. All the methods are on the car shipping page and in the article on car shipping from Saudi Arabia.

What cannot be shipped and what is shipped on conditions

A door-to-door service does not change what the regulations forbid. We ask about the contents of every sealed carton, because one prohibited item stops the whole shipment, and with it other people’s shipments if the load is shared. These are the main items:

Item Status
Weapons, ammunition and fireworks Prohibited by every method
Drugs and alcohol Prohibited
Compressed gases, fuel, paints and solvents Not accepted with furniture, and not carried by air
Cash, gold, jewellery and original documents Carried by their owner, not shipped
Lithium batteries, perfumes and aerosols Restricted by air; accepted by land and sea when packed properly
Medicines A personal quantity with the prescription; commercial quantities with a permit
Foodstuffs Dry and sealed in a family quantity; perishables only in a refrigerated vehicle
Zamzam water Not shipped as cargo

The full list is on the prohibited items page.

Delivering the shipment from Saudi Arabia to the consignee’s door abroad

Delivering the shipment from Saudi Arabia to the consignee’s door abroad

Delivery is the moment that tests everything before it. After clearance the partner agent phones the consignee and agrees a day and a time, then the shipment leaves the warehouse in a vehicle that suits the district. Furniture and luggage shipments are delivered inside the home, not on the pavement. The crew carry the pieces up to the floor and put them in the rooms the consignee points to.

Then comes checking the pieces against the list. The consignee holds a copy of the inventory and ticks each number as its piece comes in. That way it is known at once if anything is missing or arrived damaged, and it is written in the delivery report before the crew leave. Last comes the consignee’s signature on receipt, which is what closes the shipment file with us. This is what each side is responsible for on delivery day:

Matter The delivery crew The consignee
The appointment A call beforehand and keeping to the agreed time Being present, or naming someone to stand in
Charges An official receipt for what was paid to customs Paying the duties if the quote did not include them
Checking Reading out the piece numbers as they come in Ticking the list and opening anything in doubt
Remarks Recording them in the report and photographing them Not signing “received in good condition” before checking

Door-to-door air freight from Saudi Arabia

Door-to-door air freight from Saudi Arabia

The aircraft is the fastest door-to-door method, and it is for urgent parcels and luggage, not for a household of furniture. The courier collects the shipment from your address; it is weighed, measured and security-screened, then booked on a flight from one of the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, according to your city and the destination. At the arrival airport the agent clears it and delivers it to the consignee’s door.

The charge is based on chargeable weight, the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. That is why we pack an air shipment in the smallest size that protects it. These are the starting price per kilogram and the time to the address:

Destination Kilogram starts from Time to the consignee’s door
The Gulf states SAR 14 1–3 days
European countries SAR 23 3–6 days
The UK SAR 26 3–6 days
North and West Africa SAR 28 3–8 days
USA SAR 41 5–8 days
Document envelope to any destination SAR 83 per envelope 2–4 working days

The aircraft is chosen by those who cannot wait: a document with a deadline, a spare part that work depends on, a personal medicine, or a suitcase travelling ahead of its owner. For anything else the truck or the container is cheaper by a wide margin. The airports and the calculation method are in the article on air freight from Saudi Arabia and on the air freight page.

Collection from Saudi cities: where does your shipment’s journey begin?

The first door may be in any Saudi city. The difference between one city and another is the distance to the main shipping point: the land crossing, the port or the airport. The collection appointment is arranged at booking in every city:

City Nearest shipping points What marks collection there
Riyadh King Khalid Airport, the dry port, and about 500 km to the Batha crossing Shared trucks to most lines on most days of the week
Jeddah Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdulaziz Airport, both in the city The closest city to the container; Umrah pilgrims’ luggage is a regular shipment
Makkah Jeddah’s port and airport, about 80 km away Trucks enter at regulated hours, and a small vehicle serves the hillside districts
Madinah Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport, and Yanbu port about 220 km away Visitors’ luggage and dates are regular shipments
Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa King Abdulaziz Port, King Fahd Airport and the King Fahd Causeway The closest cities to the Gulf crossings
Tabuk and Al-Jouf The Halat Ammar and Haditha crossings, and the port of Duba The closest regions to Jordan and Egypt

If your door is in the capital, read international shipping company in Riyadh; in the west, international shipping companies in Jeddah; in the east, international shipping company in Dammam. The complete list of cities has its own page.

How do you enquire and book? Contact, booking steps and payment

An enquiry needs no more than a message. The quickest way is WhatsApp on 0552803439, because you send the photos and the list with it and the price comes out more accurate. Phone calls are on the same number from 7 am to 11 pm. Those who prefer to write can fill in the form on the request a quote page. The process then runs in this order:

  1. Enquiry: you give your city, the destination and what you are shipping, with photos or a list.
  2. Quote: you receive a price showing the method, the time, and what it includes and excludes.
  3. Booking confirmation: we fix the collection day and send you a confirmation with the terms and the payment method.
  4. Preparing the papers: you send copies of the ID and the consignee’s details, and we check them before loading day.
  5. Collection and packing: the team arrives with its materials, packs, numbers, writes the list and hands you the receipt.
  6. Shipping: the shipment moves by land, sea or air, and we send you the tracking number.
  7. Clearance: handled by our team in the Kingdom and the partner agent in the country of arrival.
  8. Delivery: the shipment is carried into the consignee’s address, checked against the list, and signed for.

The payment method and its timing are written in the booking confirmation itself, together with the terms for changes and cancellation. So do not rely on a spoken promise, and do not pay a sum that is not mentioned in the confirmation.

Tracking, insurance and documenting the contents

Tracking in door to door does not mean a dot moving on a map; it means knowing each day where your shipment is and who is carrying it. The shipment number on the receipt is your reference. We send an update at every move: leaving the city, reaching the crossing, port or airport, the end of clearance, and the distribution appointment. How to follow up is on the shipment tracking page.

Documentation protects you if damage occurs. Photograph valuable pieces before packing, keep the invoices for appliances and anything of value, and ask for a copy of the signed inventory. A carrier’s liability is by default limited to ceilings set out in the transport document, which may be far below the value of your shipment. So we offer optional insurance calculated as a percentage of the declared value. Details are on the cargo insurance page.

Door-to-door shipping into Saudi Arabia

The service works in the opposite direction too. The partner agent collects the shipment from the sender’s address abroad, it enters the Kingdom through the crossing, port or airport, and we clear it and deliver it to your address. Imports into the Kingdom have their own rules. New commercial goods are subject to customs duty and to value added tax at 15%, and many products need a certificate of conformity before they are shipped.

The effects of someone arriving to live here, and the used furniture of someone returning, are treated as exempt on conditions, and we confirm what is in force before shipping. A used car is not accepted for import if it is older than the limit in force or is right-hand drive.

How do you compare door-to-door shipping companies and their quotes?

Any company is tested on three things: cost, reputation and credibility, and delivery time with the extra services that go with it. Cost cannot be read from the final figure alone. Reputation is not taken from what a company says about itself, but from its commercial registration, from the receipt it writes, and from a clear answer when you ask what might go wrong. The table turns that into questions to put to everyone who gives you a price:

Question A reassuring answer An answer that calls for caution
Where does the price end? At the consignee’s address, by name “Delivered”, without saying whether to the port or the home
Who pays the arrival country’s charges? Stated in the quote: included or not included “It gets sorted out there”
Who delivers abroad? A known agent whose number is given to the consignee They do not know who will call the consignee
How long door to door? A range of days, with what may lengthen it The road time alone, or an hour-exact promise for a shared load
What proves you took my shipment? A stamped receipt with the number of pieces and a shipment number A spoken message from a driver
What if a piece is damaged? A list, a report and optional insurance with its terms “We never have damage”

Tips for avoiding problems when shipping parcels and luggage

Most shipping problems can be prevented before the shipment leaves the house. They turn on three things: good packing, documenting the contents, and following up after dispatch. Here is the practical summary:

  • Do not seal a carton before its contents are recorded: the list is written while the carton is open.
  • Write “fragile” and the way up: on two faces of the carton, not one.
  • Photograph before and after packing: one photo of the piece intact, one of it wrapped with its number.
  • Confirm the consignee’s mobile number: one that works in their country and has WhatsApp.

Common mistakes in door-to-door shipping

  • Accepting a “delivered” price without asking: delivered to the port or to the home?
  • Assuming customs duties are included because the service is door to door.
  • Writing “personal items” in the list instead of naming the pieces and their number.
  • Hiding a new boxed appliance among used goods, so everything is treated as new.
  • Estimating the volume by eye, then disputing the measurement on loading day.
  • Giving an incomplete consignee address, so the shipment sits in the warehouse and storage is charged.
  • Booking the aircraft for heavy furniture that needed only one more week on the truck.

Frequently asked questions about a door-to-door shipping company

What does a door-to-door shipping company do?

It takes the shipment from the sender’s address and brings it to the consignee’s address, and handles everything in between: packing, transport to the crossing, port or airport, the export paperwork, clearance in the country of arrival, and distribution to the door.

How much does door-to-door shipping from Saudi Arabia cost?

The price follows the method, the destination and the volume. By land to the Gulf, a parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 32, a carton from SAR 140 and a bedroom from SAR 740. By air, a kilogram starts from SAR 14 to the Gulf and SAR 23 to Europe. By sea, a cubic metre starts from SAR 415. Send your list to 0552803439 and you will get the figure for your own shipment.

Does a door-to-door price include customs duty?

Usually not. The price covers transport, packing and the clearance fee, while the duty and tax in the country of arrival are set by the customs officer there according to the item and its value, and are paid by the consignee. A price that includes them is offered where that country’s rules allow it.

What is the difference between DAP and DDP?

Under the first, the shipper brings the goods to the agreed address, and import clearance and its charges stay with the consignee. Under the second, the shipper also pays the duties and taxes, so the consignee receives without being asked for anything. The second is easier for the consignee, but is not available for every country and every item.

How long does door-to-door shipping take?

By land, 1 to 6 days to the Gulf, 2 to 7 to Jordan and 7 to 15 days to Egypt. By air, 1 to 3 days to the Gulf, 3 to 6 to Europe and 5 to 8 to the USA. By sea, two to seven weeks depending on the port.

Do you pack the shipment at my home?

Yes. The team arrives with the cartons, bubble wrap, blankets and tape, so you buy nothing. They dismantle the furniture that comes apart, wrap each delicate piece in what suits it, number every item and write the inventory in front of you.

Who handles customs clearance?

We do, at both ends. In the Kingdom we prepare the export declaration and its attachments before the shipment reaches the border. In the country of arrival our agent there follows the inspection and hands the file to customs. What we need from you is correct papers on time: your ID, the list of contents, the consignee’s details, and the invoice if the shipment is commercial.

Will the crew carry the shipment inside the home?

Yes, for furniture and luggage shipments agreed for delivery inside the home. The pieces are unloaded and carried into the rooms, checked against the list by number, and then the consignee signs. Small parcels are handed over at the door to the owner or to whoever they name.

Do you ship door to door within Saudi Arabia?

Yes, between the cities of the Kingdom: furniture, appliances, cartons, pallets and cars on a carrier. Moving a car from Jeddah to Riyadh starts from SAR 830, and the other items are priced on request according to the two cities and the volume.

Which countries does the service reach?

The Gulf states, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt by truck; Turkey, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Europe, the UK, the USA and Canada by container; and most of the world by air. Delivery abroad is carried out through partner agents in each country. Yemen is not among our destinations.

Can I send a single parcel door to door?

Yes. The smallest thing we collect is a document envelope, which starts from SAR 83 by air. A parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 32 by land to the Gulf, and from SAR 110 by air to Europe and Turkey. It is collected from your home or office and handed to whoever you name.

Do you ship cars door to door?

Yes. The car is collected from your address and carried on a transporter to neighbouring countries, or to the port to go by RoRo or inside a container. A road carrier starts from SAR 830 to Bahrain and SAR 1,100 to the UAE and Qatar, and RoRo from SAR 2,800 for a saloon. Each country has its own rules on vehicle age and specification, so we confirm that yours is accepted before booking.

How do I track my shipment?

At collection you receive a receipt showing the number of pieces and the shipment number. With that number we update you on WhatsApp at every move: leaving your city, reaching the crossing, port or airport, the end of clearance, and the delivery appointment.

What do you not accept for shipping?

Flammable materials, compressed gases, weapons and fireworks; cash, gold and valuable original documents; drugs and alcohol. Medicines are accepted in a personal quantity with the prescription. Batteries and perfumes are restricted, on aircraft in particular. Zamzam water is not shipped as cargo.

How do I book and how do I pay?

Call or message 0552803439 from 7 am to 11 pm, giving your city, the destination and what you want to ship, with photos or a list. You receive a price showing what it includes and what it does not. Once you agree, we fix the collection day. The payment method and its timing are written in the booking confirmation, so do not pay anyone anything outside what is written there.
