Anyone shipping from a city other than Jeddah will find the table of all the Kingdom’s cities in the article on the international shipping company from Saudi Arabia to the Arab countries. The five Gulf destinations are covered in detail in the article on shipping from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf states.

Who ships from Jeddah to the Arab countries, and what do they send?

Jeddah is a city of work and trade and the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques, and Arabs from every country live in it. So the requests that reach us on a single day are never alike: a Jordanian family ending its stay, a trader sending his goods to Misrata, an Algerian Umrah visitor whose bags have multiplied. These are the most frequent cases:

Shipper What they usually send What suits them
An Arab family returning home for good The furniture, appliances and belongings of the home A dedicated or shared truck to the Mashreq, and a container to the Maghreb
A resident sending to his family Cartons of clothes, gifts and appliances Groupage priced by the carton or the kilo
An Umrah visitor or pilgrim Excess bags, dates and gifts Groupage, or air for those in a hurry
A trader or factory in Jeddah Goods by the pallet, the tonne or the container A full truck, or a container from the port
A car owner A saloon or a 4×4 A road carrier, RoRo or a container

Shipping methods from Jeddah and delivery times

The method follows geography before anything else. From Jeddah a continuous paved road runs to the Gulf, Jordan, Syria and Iraq, so these are truck destinations. Between Jeddah and Africa lies the Red Sea, so those are container and ferry destinations. And the airport serves them all when time matters more than the fare. Every shipment passes through the same stages whatever its method, and this is how long each stage takes:

Stage Truck Container Aircraft
Consolidation, or waiting for departure 1–3 days for a shared truck, none for a dedicated one 2–7 days until the sailing date The first flight with space
The journey 1–4 days depending on the country 5–25 days depending on the port Hours
The crossing or clearance Hours to 2 days 2–5 days 1 to 3 days
Distribution to the door The day of arrival or the next 1–4 days 1 to 2 days

What lengthens the transit time?

  • Waiting for the load to fill: a shared truck and a shared container do not move before they are full.
  • Seasons: after Hajj, before the two Eids and at the start of summer, the road, the crossing and the port are all busy.
  • Transhipment: some services to the Maghreb call at an intermediate port, which adds days.
  • A missing paper: a list without detail, or a consignee name that does not match the ID, stops clearance.
  • The state of the crossings: the road route to Syria and Lebanon depends on the condition of the crossings, so we confirm the available route before shipping.

Transit times for every destination are on the transit times page, and the three methods are weighed against each other on the shipping methods comparison page.

Shipping prices from Jeddah to the Arab countries

The price differs from one country to another because the distance and the method differ. The figures below are the approved starting prices in each country’s guide from Jeddah, carried over as they are without change. The first table covers the destinations a truck reaches:

Country Carton or parcel Furniture Car Air, per kilo
UAE Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom with sitting room from SAR 1,850 From SAR 2,350 From SAR 14
Qatar Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 2,000 From SAR 2,020 From SAR 14
Kuwait Set on request Bedroom from SAR 920 From SAR 2,300 From SAR 14
Bahrain Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 1,100 From SAR 1,010 From SAR 14

Iraq From SAR 14 per kilo by road A room of furniture from SAR 2,300 From SAR 3,200 From SAR 41

The second table covers the destinations served by containers from Jeddah port, together with Egypt, which combines the ferry and the container:

Country Carton or cubic metre Bedroom or luggage 20ft container Car by sea Air, per kilo
Lebanon Small parcel from SAR 55 Bedroom from SAR 920 From SAR 4,600 From SAR 2,800 From SAR 14
Egypt Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 1,650 Set on request Set on request Set on request
Libya Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 1,650 From SAR 4,600 From SAR 3,220 From SAR 28
Tunisia Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 1,650 From SAR 4,600 From SAR 3,220 From SAR 28
Algeria Carton from SAR 140 Bedroom from SAR 1,650 From SAR 4,600 From SAR 1,655 From SAR 28
Morocco Cubic metre from SAR 780 Furniture and belongings from SAR 2,300 From SAR 7,800 From SAR 2,200 From SAR 28
Mauritania Express parcel from SAR 110 Set on request Set on request From SAR 2,800 From SAR 28

An express document envelope starts from SAR 83 to most of these destinations. A 20ft container to Aqaba in Jordan and to Latakia in Syria starts from SAR 4,600, and a 40ft container to Libya, Tunisia and Algeria from SAR 5,200.

Prices quoted in the market: most offices advertising shipping from Jeddah to the Arab countries publish no table and ask you to call. What is actually published is general figures: directories of shipping companies quote between SAR 40 and SAR 120 per kilo for international express, depending on the carrier and the type of customer, postal documents to Sudan from about SAR 85, and 3–7 days for express against up to 15 days for economy. Those figures are of little use to someone sending furniture or cartons to a particular country, which is why we state the starting price for each country plainly here.

What sets the price, and how do you bring it down?

The starting price belongs to the smallest shipment going to the nearest city. What raises or lowers it after that is a known set of items, which we go through one by one at the survey and write into the price statement so that you can see what you are paying for:

Item Effect on the price
The country and the city Bahrain and Kuwait cost less than Oman, and a capital less than the outlying regions
The method A shared container and a shared truck are the most economical, and air is the dearest
Volume after packing The basis of the calculation by road and sea; the larger it is, the lower the price per metre
Chargeable weight The basis of the calculation by air: the greater of actual and volumetric weight
Clearance and charges at destination Not part of the fare unless that is written down
  • Choose the shared service if you are not in a hurry: you pay for your own volume alone, and the wait is a few days.
  • Dismantle whatever comes apart: a bed, a wardrobe and a table taken apart fill roughly a third of their volume.
  • Sell what is not worth it: an old piece that costs less at home than its freight should not be loaded.
  • Combine your shipment with a relative’s: two shipments to one city are charged as a larger volume at a lower rate per metre.

Each of these items is taken further on the pricing factors page, and the CBM calculator gives you the size of your load in cubic metres.

What is distinctive about shipping from Jeddah?

Jeddah has what no other Saudi city combines: a port on the Red Sea, an international airport, and roads branching north to Tabuk and Jordan and east to Riyadh and the Gulf. A shipment is therefore not moved between cities before its international journey begins, which saves time and money.

Jeddah also has its seasons. During Hajj and Umrah, demand for shipping luggage and gifts doubles and the roads to Makkah and the airport fill up, so we arrange collection at suitable hours and reserve space early. And our office in Al-Sharafiyah receives those who bring their shipment in themselves.

Closed trucks from Jeddah to the Gulf and Jordan

Closed trucks from Jeddah to the Gulf and Jordan

The closed truck is the first choice to the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan. It is loaded and locked in Jeddah and opened only for inspection at the crossing and then at the consignee’s door. The road to the Gulf crosses the Kingdom from west to east through Taif and Riyadh, about 950 km as far as the capital, and then branches according to the country. The road to Jordan climbs north through Madinah and Tabuk. These are the crossings our trucks use:

Destination Saudi crossing Opposite post Note
UAE Batha Al-Ghuwaifat About 2,000 km from Jeddah to Dubai
Qatar Salwa Abu Samra The only land crossing into Qatar
Kuwait Ar-Ruqi, or Khafji Salmi, or Nuwaiseeb About 1,500 km via Qassim and Hafar al-Batin
Bahrain King Fahd Causeway from Khobar Causeway customs About 1,400 km to Manama
Oman Rub’ al-Khali, or Batha Ramlat Khaliya, or through the UAE The route is chosen according to the Omani city
Jordan Halat Ammar north of Tabuk, or Haditha near Qurayyat Mudawwara, or Al-Omari Halat Ammar is nearer to Jeddah, and Haditha is the largest crossing

A personal shipment leaving Jeddah for Jordan usually goes through Halat Ammar. The truck takes the Haditha crossing when its load is consolidated with shipments from the centre of the Kingdom, or when delivery is in northern Jordan. Anyone bound for Aqaba may enter through the Durra crossing on the coast. The whole road service is described in the article on the land freight company in Saudi Arabia and on the land freight page.

A dedicated truck or a shared one?

A dedicated truck carries your shipment alone, so it leaves the moment loading ends and goes straight to your door. A shared truck brings together the shipments of several customers for one country, so it waits until it is full and delivers to more than one address:

Point of comparison Dedicated truck Shared truck
Suits The furniture of a flat or villa, and goods that fill the truck Cartons, a bedroom, a sitting room and appliances
Departure The day of loading Once the load is complete, within 1 to 3 days
How it is charged The hire of the whole truck, by its size By volume, by the piece or by the carton
Price Set on request From SAR 140 per carton

Shipping to Syria, Lebanon and Iraq

These three destinations also go by road, but the route is longer and the crossings more numerous, so each trip needs confirming beforehand. The truck to Syria enters Jordan at Halat Ammar, then passes the Jordanian post of Jaber to the Nassib crossing, and reaches Damascus in 5–8 days. The truck to Lebanon carries on from Syria to the Masnaa crossing and takes 6–10 days. Depending on the state of the crossings we confirm the available route before shipping, and we suggest a container to the Port of Beirut when the sea is the surer way.

Iraq has a direct crossing with the Kingdom, Jadidat Arar. From Jeddah the truck takes the road through Madinah, Hail and Arar, about 1,770 km to Baghdad, and arrives in 5–14 days depending on the delivery city and the kind of load. Goods there are charged by the kilo from SAR 14, and a room of furniture from SAR 2,300.

Jeddah Islamic Port: containers from Jeddah to Arab ports

Jeddah Islamic Port: containers from Jeddah to Arab ports

Jeddah Islamic Port is the Kingdom’s largest port on the Red Sea, with two container terminals and two general cargo terminals. Its closeness to the city’s districts means a container can be filled at your home or in our warehouse in the morning and enter the port the same day. A 20ft container takes the furniture of a small flat, and a 40ft container takes a whole home, or a home and a car. These are the Arab ports we ship to:

Country Port of arrival The vessel’s route 20ft container starts from
Jordan Aqaba North up the Red Sea, without the Suez Canal SAR 4,600
Egypt Sokhna, and Alexandria Sokhna without the canal, Alexandria through it Set on request
Sudan Port Sudan A short crossing to the opposite shore Set on request
Lebanon and Syria The Port of Beirut, and Latakia The Suez Canal, then the eastern Mediterranean SAR 4,600
Libya Misrata, Benghazi and Tripoli The Suez Canal, then the Mediterranean SAR 4,600
Tunisia Rades The Suez Canal, then the Mediterranean SAR 4,600
Algeria Algiers, Oran and Annaba The Suez Canal, then the Mediterranean SAR 4,600
Morocco Casablanca, and Tanger Med The Mediterranean as far as the Strait of Gibraltar SAR 7,800
Mauritania The Port of Friendship in Nouakchott The Mediterranean, then the Atlantic Set on request

A full container is yours alone: it is sealed in Jeddah with a number entered on the bill of lading and opened in front of the consignee. A shared container is divided among several customers; you pay for your cubic metres, and it waits to fill and is then unpacked at the arrival warehouse, so it takes a week or more longer. A cubic metre to Libya, Tunisia and Algeria starts from SAR 415, and to Morocco from SAR 780.

We do not recommend a container to the Gulf states, because the vessel sails round the whole peninsula, and a truck is quicker and cheaper. Sizes are on the container sizes page, the port service in the article on international sea freight from Jeddah, and container rates in the article on container shipping prices from Jeddah.

Shipping to Egypt, Sudan and the Maghreb countries

Egypt has a system of its own: the closed truck drives north from Jeddah along the coast to the port of Duba, then boards the ferry with its full load and comes off at Safaga or Nuweiba, where clearance takes place. The shipments are then sorted at the Egyptian warehouse and distributed by small vehicles. The transit time is 7–12 days, and a carton starts from SAR 140. Large loads go by container to Sokhna or Alexandria. The stages are explained in the article on land freight from Saudi Arabia to Egypt.

No road reaches Sudan from Jeddah, so shipping there is by sea to Port Sudan, with a short container service running between the two ports, or by air subject to available flights. Conditions for collection and distribution there keep changing, so we do not accept a shipment before confirming to you what is actually available on the day of booking, and the price is set on request.

The five Maghreb countries are sea and air destinations. Libya is the nearest, and a long road route across Egypt, taking 10–20 days, exists for those who want it. To Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania we offer no road route. The container passes through the Suez Canal and then the Mediterranean, and reaches Mauritania beyond the Strait of Gibraltar.

Shipping the furniture and belongings of families returning from Jeddah to their Arab home countries

Shipping the furniture and belongings of families returning from Jeddah to their Arab home countries

The final return is the largest shipment in the life of an expatriate family, a whole home gathered over years. We begin with a survey at home or with photographs on WhatsApp, and agree on what is shipped and what is sold. On loading day the crew arrives with its materials, takes apart the beds and wardrobes, packs every piece and sticks a number on it. An inventory is then written with each piece’s number, description and condition, and this is the paper presented to customs and checked at delivery.

Item How it is prepared What goes on the inventory
Bedrooms and wardrobes Dismantled, panels numbered, screws gathered in a bag fixed to the piece The number of pieces after dismantling, and the colour of the wood
Sofas and sitting-room sets Blankets, then tight stretch wrap, with cardboard corners on the edges The number of seats and cushions
Fridge, washing machine and air conditioner Emptied and dried, with moving parts secured The type and the condition: used
Televisions, mirrors and glass A wooden crate, or the original carton with its foam The size, and the word fragile
Kitchenware and ornaments Wrapped piece by piece in a double-wall carton A general description and the number of cartons

Most Arab countries give a returnee easier customs treatment, and each has its own papers. Jordan usually asks for proof of a year or more of residence abroad, Lebanon for a longer stay and a list authenticated by the embassy, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia for the change-of-residence certificates issued by their consulates, and Egypt’s rules change often. This is current practice, and we confirm what is in force in your country before shipping. If your travel falls later than the date you must vacate the home, we keep the furniture in the furniture storage warehouse in Jeddah until its date comes. Packing methods are on the packing guide page, and the rest of the service on the furniture shipping page.

Safe handling of shipments and fragile items

The safety of a shipment is made before it moves, in the packing and the way it is stowed. The journey involves a long desert road or a damp sea. So we do not pack a shipment travelling to Casablanca the way we pack a move between two districts of Jeddah. These are the rules the crew works by:

  • A material for each kind: a double-wall carton for crockery, foam and stretch wrap for wood, and a wooden crate for glass, marble and televisions.
  • No empty space inside the carton: it is filled with paper or foam so that pieces cannot move and knock together.
  • Clear markings: the word fragile and a direction arrow on every face, with the piece number.
  • Lashing with straps: the load is tied to the walls of the truck or container so that it cannot slide under braking or in a swell.
  • Protection from damp: tight stretch wrap, and desiccant bags in a sea container.

Details of lashing inside the container and the truck are on the packing and lashing page.

Shipping parcels, luggage and Umrah visitors’ gifts

Not everyone who ships has a household to move. Many of our orders are a carton or two sent by a resident to his family, or bags that an Umrah visitor could not take on the flight. A carton starts from SAR 140 to the Gulf, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, and a suitcase from SAR 230 to the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan. A parcel of up to 5 kilos starts from SAR 41 to Bahrain and Muscat.

For visitors to the Two Holy Mosques we collect from the hotel or the group’s accommodation in Jeddah and Makkah, weigh in front of the owner and give him a receipt numbering every piece. Zamzam water, however, is not shipped, and the traveller carries his dedicated pack with him. Details of the service are on the parcel shipping page.

Commercial cargo and the Arab certificate of origin

A Jeddah trader exports foodstuffs, dates, plastics, building materials and clothing to the Arab markets. To the Gulf, Jordan and Iraq the goods move by full truck, or by the pallet on a shared truck, and to North Africa by full container or by the cubic metre.

The certificate of origin is a paper that deserves care. Goods of Gulf origin move between the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council free of customs duty. Goods of Arab origin benefit from exemption between the member states of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, with an authenticated Arab certificate of origin. Not every Arab country applies the agreement to the same extent, and some goods are excepted, so we check with the clearing agent in the destination country before loading. More on the commercial shipping page.

Car shipping from Jeddah to the Arab countries

A car is moved by the method that suits its destination. To the Gulf, Jordan and Iraq it is loaded onto a road car carrier, open or enclosed. To the Mediterranean and Atlantic ports it goes by RoRo, driven into the vessel and secured by its wheels, or lashed inside a container. And before the price comes the more important question: will the destination country accept your car?

Destination Method Price starts from What is checked before booking
Bahrain Shared carrier SAR 1,010 Causeway procedures and registration
Qatar Shared open carrier SAR 2,020 Export plates and inspection
Kuwait and Jordan Road carrier SAR 2,300 Jordan restricts the age of the car
UAE Road carrier SAR 2,350 The export certificate and registration in the emirate
Iraq and Oman Carrier or closed truck SAR 3,200 for Iraq, and SAR 3,500 for Muscat Model-year and specification conditions
Lebanon and Mauritania RoRo or container SAR 2,800 Lebanon restricts the age of the car
Morocco RoRo SAR 2,200 The age condition and the change-of-residence certificate
Libya and Tunisia RoRo or shared container SAR 3,220 The returnee regime in Tunisia
Algeria Shared container or RoRo SAR 1,655 The condition that the car be recent
Egypt, Syria and Sudan Case by case Set on request Permanent import is restricted, and we review your case first

Age and specification conditions change, so do not hand your car to anyone before he has gone through the rule in force in your country with you. Preparing the car and its documents is covered in the article on the car shipping company in Jeddah, and the methods on the car shipping page.

Customs and required documents

Clearance takes place twice: exit from the Kingdom and entry into the destination country. In road freight both happen at the two facing posts while the shipment is on the truck. In sea and air freight, exit is in Jeddah and entry at the arrival port or airport. For the most part the papers differ by the kind of shipment rather than by the country:

Kind of shipment From the sender in Jeddah For the consignee in the destination country
Cartons, parcels and gifts A copy of the ID or residence permit, and a contents list The name as on the ID, the address and a local mobile number
Furniture and belongings of a returnee The passport and final exit visa, and a numbered inventory Whatever his country asks for as proof of residence abroad, and his presence or his agent’s
Commercial goods An invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin and a commercial registration The importer’s registration and licences according to the goods
A car The registration card, export plates, and the owner’s ID or authorisation Proof that his country’s condition is met

Duties and taxes in the destination country are paid by the consignee, and we estimate what to expect before loading. Sample papers are on the shipping documents page, and the service is explained on the customs clearance page.

What cannot be shipped from Jeddah to the Arab countries

Prohibited items are of two kinds: what is banned everywhere, and what is restricted by a permit or banned by one method and not another. Air freight is the strictest, so what a truck accepts an aircraft may not. Go through the list before you close the cartons:

Item Ruling
Narcotics, alcohol, weapons, ammunition and fireworks Banned by every method
Compressed gases, aerosols, lighters and charcoal Banned
Alcohol-based perfumes and flammable liquids Not accepted by air; shipped by road in limited quantities with special packing
Lithium batteries Inside their devices only, and never loose by air
Medicines Personal quantities with the prescription
Zamzam water Not shipped
Counterfeit goods and live animals We do not accept them
Gold, cash, passports and original documents Carried by hand, not in the shipment

Each country has its own additions, such as drones and new mobile phones in some countries. The general list is on the prohibited items page.

Delivery options and express delivery

Our standard is delivery to the consignee’s door: the truck or the delivery van reaches the address, the agent calls before he arrives, and the pieces are checked against their numbers. Some customers prefer otherwise, though, so we offer more than one form:

  • To the door: unloading at the entrance of the building, with carrying upstairs and assembly agreed in advance.
  • To the port or airport: for a trader who has a clearing agent at home and collects with his own documents.
  • Express delivery by air: for parcels and documents, within 1 to 3 days in the Gulf capitals.
  • Express delivery by road: a dedicated truck that leaves on the day of loading for the Gulf and Jordan.

Changing the delivery address or date is possible as long as the shipment has not gone out for distribution, so let us know early. The service is explained on the door to door page.

Air freight from Jeddah to the Arab countries

Air freight from Jeddah to the Arab countries

King Abdulaziz International Airport connects Jeddah with almost every Arab capital, many of them by daily flights. That is why an air parcel reaches the Gulf in 1 to 3 days and the most distant capitals in a week. The price is calculated on the chargeable weight, the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Air suits documents, samples, personal medicines, spare parts and urgent luggage, and does not suit furniture:

Destination Airports Transit time to the door Per kilo, from
The Gulf states Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, Manama and Muscat 1–3 days SAR 14
Jordan, Lebanon and Syria Amman, Beirut and Damascus 1–5 days SAR 14
Iraq Baghdad, Erbil, Basra and Najaf 2–5 days SAR 41
Egypt Cairo and Borg El Arab 3–6 days Set on request
Libya, Tunisia and Algeria Tripoli, Benghazi, Tunis and Algiers 2–7 days SAR 28
Morocco and Mauritania Casablanca and Nouakchott 3–8 days SAR 28

A document envelope starts from SAR 83, and an express parcel of up to 5 kilos to Nouakchott from SAR 110. Work out your parcel’s chargeable weight with the volumetric weight calculator. Airport procedures are covered in the article on the air freight office in Jeddah and on the air freight page.

Collection from Jeddah’s districts and nearby towns

We collect from every district of Jeddah between 7 am and 11 pm, at a time you choose. From outside the city we collect by prior appointment, and the shipment is moved to our warehouse in Jeddah to take its place on the truck or in the container:

Area Districts or towns How we collect
North Jeddah Obhur, Ash-Shati, Al-Mohammadiyah, An-Naim, Az-Zahra, As-Salamah and Ar-Rawdah A truck parked at the building

Steps for shipping from Jeddah to any Arab country

  1. Send the details: the country and city, and photographs or a list of what you are shipping, on WhatsApp.
  2. We suggest the method: truck, container or air, with the transit time, the starting price and what it covers.
  3. Survey: at home for furniture, or by photographs for cartons and parcels.
  4. Booking confirmation: it states the price, the date and the cancellation and compensation terms.
  5. Collection: dismantling, packing and numbering, with weighing or measuring in front of you.
  6. The inventory: you sign it and take a copy with the receipt.
  7. The journey and clearance: we follow the crossing, port or airport and tell you at every stage.
  8. Delivery: the pieces are checked against their numbers at the door, and then receipt is signed.

Tracking and insurance

Tracking differs with the method. An air parcel has an air waybill number that can be followed on the website of the airline or the express carrier. A container has a number that shows the vessel’s position and its arrival date. A road truck has no automatic number, so we send a WhatsApp notice at every stage: leaving Jeddah, reaching the crossing, completing clearance, and the delivery appointment.

Insurance is optional, and its premium is a percentage of the value you declare on the list. We advise it for every sea shipment, and for appliances, valuable furniture and cars. It does not cover what was not entered on the list. More on the tracking and cargo insurance pages.

Customer service, support and complaint handling

The number is the same before shipping and after it: 0552803439 by call or WhatsApp, from 7 am to 11 pm. Before booking we answer on price, transit time and papers, and afterwards, by the receipt number, on where the shipment is and when it will be delivered.

If you have a remark at delivery, write it on the delivery note before you sign, and photograph the piece and the carton as they arrived. Then send the photographs and the receipt number to the same number, and we open a file for it and tell you what has been done. We make no general promises here: the cancellation terms, the limits of compensation and the period for submitting a claim are written in the booking confirmation you receive, and that is the reference between us.

Shipping from the Arab countries to Jeddah

Every line we ship on works in both directions. Someone arriving to work in Jeddah sends his furniture from Amman, Cairo or Casablanca, and a trader imports from Dubai or Alexandria. Our agent collects in the sending country, the shipment enters through the land crossing, Jeddah port or its airport, and we clear it and deliver it to the address. Food, medicines and cosmetics come under the requirements of the competent Saudi authorities, so ask before sending. The price is set on request.

How do you choose a shipping company from Jeddah to the Arab countries?

Anyone who promises you one price for all the Arab countries has not shipped to them. Each country has its own route, crossing and customs. These are the signs that tell them apart:

What you ask about A reassuring sign A sign that calls for caution
The status of the business A commercial registration, a known address and an invoice in its name A mobile number only, and a transfer to a personal account
The shipment’s route He names the crossing or the port, and who clears there “It will get there, God willing”, with no detail
The limits of the price He writes where it ends: crossing, port or door A single figure that changes after loading
Customs He checks your list against your country’s conditions He promises a full exemption without seeing your papers
The inventory Numbered and signed, with a copy for you No list, or a list he writes on his own

Common mistakes when shipping to the Arab countries

  • Asking for a sea container to Dubai or Doha when a truck arrives in under a week.
  • Comparing a price to the door with a price to the crossing or port as if they were the same offer.
  • Shipping the furniture of a final return before preparing the proof-of-residence papers your country asks for.
  • Buying many new appliances and placing them among used furniture without entering them on the list.
  • Sending a car before making sure of the age and specification condition in the destination country.
  • Writing “personal effects” on twenty cartons without stating what each one holds.
  • Putting off the booking until the week of travel in the Hajj season or at the end of the school year.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Jeddah to the Arab countries

Which Arab countries do you ship to from Jeddah?

We ship to the five Gulf states: the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. To Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. To Egypt and Sudan. And to Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania. The coverage table at the top of the article points you to the guide for each country.

How much does shipping from Jeddah to the Arab countries cost?

There is no single price for every country. A carton starts from SAR 140 to most destinations, and a bedroom from SAR 920 to Kuwait, SAR 1,100 to Bahrain and SAR 1,650 to Egypt and Libya. A 20ft container starts from SAR 4,600 to Aqaba, Beirut and the ports of Libya, Tunisia and Algeria. Air freight starts from SAR 14 per kilo to the Gulf and SAR 28 to North Africa.

How long does a shipment take to arrive?

By truck: Bahrain 2 to 6 days, Jordan 3–5 days, the UAE 4–6 days, Qatar and Kuwait 3–8 days, and Oman 5–8 days. By container: 12–20 days to Beirut and Egypt, and 20–35 days to the ports of the Maghreb. By air: 1 to 3 days to the Gulf, and up to 8 days to Nouakchott.

What is the cheapest way to ship from Jeddah?

To the Gulf states, Jordan, Syria and Iraq: the shared truck, because you pay only for your own volume. To the Maghreb countries: the shared container, priced per cubic metre. To Egypt: the truck that crosses on the ferry. Air is the dearest method and is chosen for what is light and urgent.

Do you ship by sea to the Gulf states from Jeddah port?

We do not recommend it. A vessel leaving Jeddah sails round the whole peninsula to reach the Arabian Gulf, which takes weeks, while a truck covers the road in days. A container from Jeddah port suits the ports of the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, from Aqaba to Nouakchott.

Which crossing does the truck use to enter Jordan?

The nearest to Jeddah is the Halat Ammar crossing north of Tabuk, facing Mudawwara in Jordan. The Haditha crossing near Qurayyat is the largest between the two countries, and the truck uses it when it also carries shipments from the centre of the Kingdom or is heading for northern Jordan.

I am returning home for good. Will I pay customs duty on my furniture?

Most Arab countries treat a returnee’s used furniture and belongings leniently or exempt them, but on conditions that differ from one country to another. These conditions change, so we review your case and confirm what is in force in your country before loading.

Do you ship cars from Jeddah to the Arab countries?

Yes. To the Gulf, Jordan and Iraq on a road car carrier, and to Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania by sea, by RoRo or in a container. A car starts from SAR 1,010 to Bahrain, SAR 2,020 to Qatar and SAR 2,200 to Morocco. Some countries set a maximum age for the car, so we check the rule before you pay anything.

Do you collect the shipment from home in Jeddah?

Yes, from every district of Jeddah between 7 am and 11 pm, and from Makkah, Taif, Rabigh, Thuwal and Madinah by prior appointment.

How do you handle fragile items?

Glass, mirrors, marble and televisions go into a wooden crate made to size, and crockery is wrapped piece by piece and stood upright in a double-wall carton. These pieces are loaded last on the truck or in the container, away from anything heavy.

Do you offer express shipping?

Yes, in two ways. Air freight from King Abdulaziz Airport for parcels and documents, where a document envelope starts from SAR 83. And the dedicated truck to the Gulf and Jordan, which leaves on the day of loading and is priced on request.

How do I follow my shipment?

An air parcel and a container each have a number that can be followed on the carrier’s website, and we send it to you after booking. A road truck is followed through WhatsApp notices at loading, at the crossing, after clearance and before delivery.

Is the shipment insured?

Insurance is optional, and its premium is a percentage of the value you declare. We advise it for expensive furniture, appliances and cars, and for anything that travels by sea. The inventory and the photographs taken before packing are what any claim is built on.

What documents are required?

For a personal shipment: a copy of the ID or residence permit and the passport, a detailed contents list, and the consignee’s name, address and mobile number in the destination country. For commercial goods: an invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin and a commercial registration. For a car: the registration card and export plates.

Do you ship from the Arab countries to Jeddah?

Yes, the same lines work in the opposite direction. Food, medicines and cosmetics come under the requirements of the competent Saudi authorities. The price is set on request according to the country and the volume.
